- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey there, welcome to the Modern Etsy Seller Podcast and What You're Wondering, the segment where I answer one specific Etsy question in under five minutes.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm Melissa, a busy working mom with two profitable Etsy shops, and I help other busy women make money with Etsy and print on demand.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: In today's episode, I'm answering the question: Should I be using the same mock-ups on every Etsy listing?
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: And my answer to this is yes, you should.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And the reason you should is for simplicity and efficiency.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Having the same mock-ups for each item isn't going to have a negative impact on your shop.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: And it's not necessarily going to have a positive one either when it comes to your bottom line and whether or not someone purchases from you.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: But what it is going to do is make your life easier.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And I am a huge fan of anything that makes my life easier.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Using the same mock-ups every time you list a new item within a product category means that you are only setting up your mock-ups one time.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And then that means that products get listed faster.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So when you build out your listing system, you want to spend time creating good quality lifestyle mock-ups, or you can buy them.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And once you have a mock-up system you like, you really don't need to keep reinventing it every time you create a new listing.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean you can never test different mockups.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Over time, you may end up adding or replacing mockups, but if you do end up doing that, there's no need to go back to your already listed items and add on or change out those.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: You'll just start from that listing where you decided to make that change and all future listings continue to keep that change.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Now the exception to this is the main image, your thumbnail.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: If you want, you can have two or three different versions that you use kind of as a way of testing out what people respond to.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: But keep in mind that that kind of a test needs time and enough traffic to make sure you're really seeing strong proof that one is working out better than another.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I personally don't have multiple versions.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I really like to keep things as easy as I can, and I use the same main mock-up across all my images.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: So if you're wondering whether you need a brand new set of mock-ups for every single listing or a rotating set to change things up, you don't.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Create a solid mock-up system once, reuse it, let it save you time.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And if down the road you want to test something different, you can.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: But don't create extra work for yourself just because you think every listing needs to look completely different.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I promise you it doesn't.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's it for today.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: But before you go, if you've been enjoying the podcast, I'd love it if you would take a minute to leave a rating and review.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: It helps more Etsy sellers find the show, and your feedback helps me create more of the episodes you want to hear.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening today, and I will see you next time.
