- High Five Hot Mess Podcast: So hey everybody, welcome to the High Five Hot Mess podcast where we glow up, show up and have brand new guest hosts that are here to help us live a happier, positive life. Today's episode is really about finding happiness, making happiness, vibrating high, looking for those high fives, even when you're in the middle of a situation where you're like, there is no high five here, there is no silver lining, there always is. And that's one of the things that... I wanted to bring Lisa on. So Lisa Ryan, if happiness had a chief operating officer, it would be Lisa Ryan. And I mean that like she literally in one conversation changed my life, not to get too woo about it, but it really shifted my whole thinking process. So Lisa is contingency planner. She has her own podcast, the Joy-filled Universe. She's also a coach. So she's got all these things that are going to help us build our toolboxes to speak. for trying to be happy and finding that happiness, even again, like when you've had kind of a week that I've had. So on that note, Lisa, how has your week been? ⁓ my gosh, it's been great. I'm always thriving in all the best ways. I wake up every day intentionally with joy in my heart and start every day with gratitude and have been practicing a little bit of a digital detox, which has shown to be really helpful. Yeah, and I'm just living my best life. having so happy for you. Yeah, thank you. Thank you very much. And it's all intentional. You know, and it's not it doesn't just happen, right? So that's one of the things. So my week this week was wild. So energy all over the place. So like wild chaotic energy. And so here's what I mean by that. I went on vacation. We went to Vancouver and it was awesome. We had a great time. We celebrated our aunt's 93rd birthday. Wow. And I just love her to death and she still gets blowouts. She still drives herself. Like, I mean, and she's so absolutely positive. Like she'll stop a conversation and say, Hey everybody, let's take a moment and be grateful for each other. ⁓ And I'm like, I ⁓ am grateful and thank you for reminding me of that. And then I came home and in perfect fire horse year and all kind of fell apart. So let's talk about what happened. I'm currently on the job market. I had a job and it got rescinded and I found someplace I could stay temporarily helping out a team that needed very short-term help, like 30 days. And I'm like, great. Thank you, universe. I'm just going to figure out what's next. So the same group that rescinded the offer called me back. and they're like, hey, we really need your help. And we met several times the week before I left for vacation and we were all high-fiving each other before I left. And this is work I'm really good at and work I thrive in and work that makes me feel like I'm really adding something to the situation. And I got back from vacation day one, all of my funding is gone. I have no funding anywhere. It's just gone. So I was like, okay, so pivot. What can do? So it was a real shock to my system, right? Because I just wasn't planning on the universe pulling the rug out from underneath me like that. And I was like, you know, but when this happens, the universe is just shoving me in a direction. And I know that. I'm just trying to figure out what direction other than Greeter at Walmart, it's shoving me in. I'll figure that out as it goes. then, like, you guys listen, where I live is literally in the middle of a desert. Well, we're sitting in Vancouver and someone, my ring camera goes off and something's at my door. And again, I'm flying high, kind of thinking I'm having the best weeks. I don't know anything about what's going on with my work. And I'm just like, things are great. And I'm like, what is that? So I expand it. and it's darting all over and comes right up to my front door. It is a sidewinder rattlesnake. And you know how like they go, and you guys, it's so big, I can see it. And it's moving everywhere all over at my front door. And I'm like, so I stopped the birthday party for my 93 year old aunt and I'm like, Doug, we have a rattlesnake at the house. And he's like, no, we don't. I. showed it to him and he's like, that is a rattle. That's a sidewinder, I think. And I'm like, and it's just hanging out. Like it's just living at my front door. It's not going away. And I'm like, what, what do we do? Everything's closed. Right. I use copilot. Like her name is Kate. She's British. And I'm like, Kate, I've got a sign winder at my front door. What do I do? And she's like, that's not, that's very scary, Lisa. First of all, don't go outside. Thanks, Kate. Thanks AI. And then it goes, okay, so you have a Sidewinder at your front door. Here are some snake wranglers in your area. perfect. So, so I was like, great. So I'm calling all these snake wranglers. even know that that was a profession, by the way. It is a profession and it's $600 a pop. If you call them for emergency services. If they catch it, I hope. No, just for coming. So. Doug was not happy about having to spend all this money, but again, I'm like, Doug, look, now it's out lounging on our front stairs. Maybe we'll just go away. He's like, I want to wait before we light money on fire. Fast forward, the next day, our landscapers, the people who do our yard, were like, we'll take care of the snake for free. Don't worry about it. They come with these big sticks, and they're batting. None of this feels good. Can do that! I'm okay, so what lesson am I supposed to be getting from the universe on this? It's like just leaving alone and it will take care of itself. That's what I walked away with. Cause the snake was gone. Like it went away in the middle of the night. Well, I'm pretty sure he figured you all were crazy. I'm sure. I'm sure. But I feel like too, ⁓ I'm definitely a believer that when things like that come to us, it's actually the universe sending us a message, right? So although it puts you in a state of panic, if you think through maybe where your mindset was and everything that had been unfolding, snake energy is typically you shedding what's not going to serve you. So perhaps, yeah. So perhaps all this turmoil as if it felt with your job and the funding falling through or whatever it was, the snake showing up in your path was likely the universe saying, hey, that doesn't serve you. We're removing that from your path because there's something better waiting for you. So that's the way I would have seen it. Granted, I would have absolutely been terrified, but at the end of the day, I would have thought, What exactly is this supposed to mean? And I think that, I mean, I sort of got there, but not all the way. And remember the snake thing happened before I knew anything was going on. And so I came home and got confronted by all of that. And that's when I started thinking, like, so I'm like, this has got to be related to how I put it together and you just put it together. So thank you for that. I appreciate it. It's ⁓ it's all good things. So. I was really grateful when the snake was gone. I'm like, Doug, now we know we don't have to spend $600. You can just get a big stick and I'll get the hose. Or you could start a business. There is a business for you. I like don't think for a second my head wasn't there where I was like, is this my calling? Should I be a snake wrangler for $600 a pop? I don't know. All right, so listen. So in every single week, no matter what happens, we all need a place where we can decompress our brains. Like I call it candy for adults, which is pop culture stuff. I spent a lot of time on our last episode talking about all sorts of different pop culture things. So this episode, really want to spend kind of talking about your podcast because I'm really, you inspired me a lot. I mean, you took time when Lisa and I were both talking about what are we going to do, you know, for our podcast. Like you really took the time and it was very genuine and appreciated. ⁓ so let's, let's talk about what your podcast is about and where we can find it and how you started it. Well, if you can believe it, ⁓ it's actually coming up on a year. So yeah. Yes. Congratulations. Thank you. Tomorrow is my 50th episode. ⁓ the podcast is called, ⁓ Joy-filled universe. And you can pretty much get it on any platform, whether it's Apple or Spotify or. audible, it's everywhere that people listen to. Okay, and we'll link it in the show notes as well. Okay. So that you, anybody seeing the show notes can see it. Great. Thank you. Yeah. I, let's see, I just have this undying need to always want to make the world happier. I feel that in this... arena of social media, we have a tendency to always focus on what's not going right or what's not going well for us. And life is just so short and it's so precious that being idle in those areas of negativity just never serves anyone. So for me, I thought, well, I'm going to be the change. so one of the things I chose to do was prior to launching my podcast, I wanted to learn how to speak like a coach. I wanted to learn how to message in a way that is something that anybody can receive, regardless of where they are in their life. And that said, I took a full year coaching certification course that's recognized by the International Coaching Federation. it's by the end, had I known it was going to be so complex, I probably would have went after just one certification, but instead, I went after three. And so I received certifications as a professional coach, as a life and transitions coach, and also as an energy practitioner. So, which is just an assessment of energy and what your vibe is currently and ways to raise your vibe. So that said, after I accomplished that, very end of 2024, it was in 25 that I said, okay, I'm gonna just get out there. Because I think that- one of the things so many of us do is we give ourselves the promise of when I do this then or when I get there then. And sometimes that can just lead to months and months and months going past before you even get started. And so for me, it was just, you know what, I got online, there's so many tools available to us and I paid attention to some YouTubes and I listened, you know, dialed into some seminars and finally figured out, this is the headset I need, this is the microphone I need, this is a platform I need, this is how I'm gonna do it, and I just started. And I'm gonna say, when I go back and listen to my first episode, I'm like, ⁓ my God, I wanted to go back and change it, but I'm like, no, I'm never gonna do that, because that shows where I was to where I am today, which is a much more fluid and easier, because I'm used to it now. And yeah, so. So the Joyfilled Universe, the objective is and the why behind it is just to explore all the tools and tricks that are going to make your universe even more joyful than it already is. And the reason I say that is because we as humans are all hardwired for love and joy. So we all have it in us. So you don't need me to bring that to you. I'm just here to show up to help. spotlight tools and tricks that can just make your universe that much more joyful. So every week we focus on sometimes coaching things. I have any examples that I've run into with some of the people I mentor and some of the people I coach, I bring that up. And then there's also just where we just dive way into some of my favorite episodes, which is all about manifesting and just living that high vibe life because In my mind, that is where the pure magic happens. And I know it's not for everyone, but it is something that I've watched in you included. When you open that door and you put the shine on something that people have already been aware of, but now they start learning how to practice it. Life just gets so much more open and so much more exciting because you start learning like there is nothing in this world. that happens to me, everything in this world happens for me. And that is absolutely magical. I love that. I love that saying as well. you know, one of the things I, Lisa and I really, when we were first talking about what we wanted to do a podcast for, one was building a community of people that, you know, might not have a community of people outside of the podcast, right? So there's a lot of people out there kind of getting through a lot of different things by themselves. And they may have friends, but maybe not friends that they can really be themselves with. Right. And there's a lot of negativity. So one of the things that Lisa and I kind of like, when we were starting to talking about this, I was like, Lisa, like, and again, I do have friends not named Lisa. But one of that I said is, right. ⁓ One of the things I said, was like, name, name your congressman or Senator that is really doing a great job. And everyone's like, ⁓ I'm like, but name the ones you don't think are doing a great job. And they all can name them like, and name the last thing that they read about them. Right. So we, we have a tendency to really commit the negative things to memory, because we're inundated with them all the time. And you guys, there's, there's a reason for that. Like negativity makes money, fear makes money. And there's a, it gets clicks, right? Like if you look at, you know, some of the most popular podcasts, there's a lot of them kind of. embedded in negativity and fear. And it's not because we all love negativity and fear. It's because it's something we like internally understand and maybe are feeling a little bit, right? Yeah. And I'm just going to add to the average human spends 70 % of their life in survival mode. So it is no wonder that that's something that we are attracted to because it feels safe to be on the defense. feels safe to be at the ready and ⁓ it feels scary to be on the offense. It feels scary to take risks and lean in. That does. That's normal. We're hard hired that way. But if you start learning that there is no wrong decision in your life because it's all taking you somewhere that's for your highest good, everything feels different. One of the things I love about your podcast is sometimes Lisa, it really feels like a class in happiness, right? And I feel like we all need classes in happiness right now because we're so hardwired by everything we're being inundated with. Like at work, how often are people just like, you're amazing, high five to everything you've done. No, more often it's, could you tweak this? Could you tweak that? Could you get this done earlier? Could you get this done faster? When it's our families that we're with, you know, it's not like, hey, I think you're amazing. I think you're great. Like our 93 year old aunt was like, we're going to take a moment. That never happens. Instead we're like, I miss this. I miss that. I miss my kids play. I didn't pick my kid up from school on time. And it's just, we're kind of really inundated. So I recommend Lisa's podcast. If you are somebody who needs to relearn how to be happy and kind of really take a class, like a master class and rewiring your brain to think. positively, which is what Lisa and I, I this whole podcast is about how do we take the rattlesnakes at the front door and the rescinded job offer twice from the same group, special kick in the ass and be like, okay, how do I turn this into a positive momentum forward? Right? And I think I just have to say that Lisa, I don't know of another podcast out there that is like yours and I really encourage people. to kind of go and listen to it and again, really sign yourselves up for relearning how to see a silver lining. I did not know that you were certified in energy and that is awesome. I definitely, we're gonna have a conversation about that afterwards and like I'm all in. But that's good because it leads us to our high five experience. So at least on a each week, we come to the table with something that just made us happy. It could be a person, a place, or a thing. This week, my high five experience, a thousand percent is that you're here. Lisa and I were going to have guests, but our intention was to have guests together. And Lisa had this life pivot that she had to go and shine her light on her family for a while. She will be back, but I mean, this was not going to happen this quickly. ⁓ barely tested the podcast out yet. ⁓ It was, I wasn't sure anybody would want to even come on, right? Because they didn't really, I wasn't sure if they knew what it was even about. So you were like, yes, I'll be there. Tell me when, let's talk about it. So you are my high five moment of the week. What is your high five moment this week? ⁓ thank you. Well, thank you. And it is an honor to be here. And for the audience, you Lisa Wilson is just a breath of fresh air wherever she goes. You might think you're not doing it, but you raise the vibe in every room. I think even on your low days, you're raising the vibe. Your low days are probably lots of people's high days. ⁓ really appreciate too that you are stepping out to create a community. I agree with you that our world needs more of that. Our world needs a place to go where being happy, is good. Being happy feels awesome. And that in and of itself is going to just continue to raise the vibe in our world. thank you. Thank you for being You're welcome. Yes. Yeah. So for me, high five moments. I had a couple. So I'm just going to say for the past several years, I have not gotten a tax return back. And I would always end up paying. So I was like, And so this year I said, it's happening, I'm getting a tax return. And so I went so far as to write the dollar amount, put it on my vision board. So every day I woke up and I saw that dollar amount and I said, thank you, universe. Thank you for that. So there was that. And I sent my tax documents out. Thank God I have a lovely lady that does them for me because Lord knows. And so she had them, I didn't know when I'd ever hear back. Then I also had an incredible opportunity at work. what's crazy is, and I'll just pull the thread for a second. What's crazy is I just recently did a podcast because I work with a lot of people, I mentor them and I coach them and so many people in our lives. And this is very understandable. We become so embedded in our world of work. because we spend so much time there, that many people start making that their identity, right? So in a sense, I was getting to the point where I had done the very same thing, but over the years I had become very aware of that. So I knew kind of like, aha, I can see this was happening to you, and so let's try to fix this. That said, I had... ⁓ a position where it was my dream job, amazing, and I was living my best life. But I thought to myself, my goodness, you know, I'm kind of ready for a little bit of a change, but I don't know what that looks like. How would I ever leave this particular opportunity? mean, I just don't know what that means. So I just let it go. And I just started feeling what I wanted this opportunity to be. Well, maybe three weeks ago, four weeks ago now. No, listen, back up a little bit farther. Four weeks ago, I started. So two weeks prior to that. out of nowhere, got a phone, I got a text message and just said, call me. And one thing led to another. And now I have this incredible opportunity that I get to be a part of the humans I get to interact with the work that I'm getting to do. It is just above and beyond. And my current position where I was afforded me the opportunity to go do that, right? They're like, yeah, but we'll give someone else an opportunity to serve. So It all just happened to work out. I could not have orchestrated it more. So here I am in this position and here was my high five. I have been working very hard, very diligently trying to make sure that, okay, I really hope these people like me, right? But instead of coming to work every day thinking, I hope they like me, I come to work every day saying, I'm here because I'm meant to be here. I'm here because I'm doing awesome work. I'm here because I get to work with awesome people. At the end of last week on Friday, I delivered bit of a report, kind of a progress report for going forward. not once, not twice, but three times people who are above me said, I'm so happy that you're here. This is great work. That's amazing. Yes. And so then that was by Thursday and Friday. On Friday, I went to the hair salon and I'm sitting there and I get a text message from my text lady. with a return that is the exact number that I had on my vision board. That's amazing, Lisa. So ⁓ we're going to do a bonus episode after this where Lisa really talks about the importance of manifestation. But I have a question. Do you have a daily affirmation? Yes. you use? ⁓ Yeah. mean, well, one. It's a very new one. So I went and I saw the monks doing their peace walk in the United States. They went from Dallas, through to Washington, DC. So I saw them in a portion of their journey. And ⁓ one of the mantras that they were kind of messaging all throughout is every day waking up and saying, today is going to be my peaceful day. And so I have that. The other ⁓ message that I always put out there, because I always just list a gratitude list every morning in my mind, but the other piece is I always say, thank you, universe, for showing me that the issue has been resolved. And that could be anything, anything at all. Because what that means is I've just handed every problem that either exists or could exist over to the universe, and I have released that stress of figuring out how it was going to get accomplished to the universe, so knowing that everything is going to work out for my highest good. So those are my ways that I always start off my everyday. So every day when I wake up, I immediately say, I'm so grateful I'm here. Yes. I mean, literally, as soon as I wake up, I'm like, and I breathe in that air, I'm like, I'm so grateful I'm still here. Right? Like, and I think that it really starts with that. Like, you have to be grateful for that. Yeah. And it kind of builds from there. And interestingly enough, I've been listening to, I've been seeking happiness, like in all the things I'm ingesting, right? So like shows that I'm watching, I don't watch dramas or violence, because I don't have enough of that in my life. if I'm listening to a podcast, I try to listen to things that either A, let me decompress, or B, make me happy or make me laugh. I listen to a lot of comedy podcasts. I love smart lists. I love the Handsome podcast. They both make me laugh. And you know, like we need more of that. like, do like trying to find those things, but something that keeps coming up is the morning manifestation, like the importance of setting your day off right. I mean, I'm 55 and I've heard that loosely, but I've never really seen it as a daily practice. And that's, you've said that several times already, that you have this daily practice. And I think that's so cool. I do. Even when I'm driving, if I'm driving to work, if there's traffic, I just sit in my mind instead of being frustrated and, everybody's cutting me off. And why does this, who's hogging? Instead, I just find myself in a place. And I actually always keep subliminals at the ready. Because sometimes- What do mean by subliminal? Subliminal messaging. So I have a couple different subliminal messaging. So some are, and basically it's messages that speak to your subconscious mind. Okay. Which is where all of our wiring happens. And so all the neural pathways that we want to create happens through our subconscious mind. So all that to say, I have these subliminal messages, I have them for wealth. I have them for my career, I have them for love, I have them for just abundance in general. And some of them are messages that are kind of masked under very soothing like spa music. So there's messages that are coming across, but only your subconscious mind can hear them. And then, but I've learned that it doesn't have to be something that's masked through ⁓ music or sound so that you can't really decipher it. Instead, it can just be random messaging. So I have from a Rhonda Byrne book that I recently got. I got it for Christmas. I read it. It was 21 Days to Riches. I'm a big Rhonda Byrne fan. Anyway, in that book is a free subliminal and it's all about clearly wealth. And I just love listening to that. you don't have to really think about it. You just let the words come. And it's just a way of soothing you. takes you to a good place. You start to vision like, ⁓ yeah, that's happening for me. And you start feeling all the things you're trying to bring into your reality. And it just takes you to a different level of thought. So sometimes too, when I'm finding myself in a situation that feels chaotic, I up a subliminal and I just have it playing in the background and it makes a big difference. That's amazing. I'm gonna look into that. So Lisa, had asked, like you basically were a catalyst for a lot of this. When you, I was in your office and we were talking about, you know, I had been like, I can't find anybody who wants me. Like I don't know what I'm going to do beyond this date. And you're like, no, no, no, it's who you want. Like where do you belong? It was really a great conversation and it really did help shift my mind. But one of the things you said to me, was you were talking to me about your goal of thinking positively and like how to deal with negative thoughts. You have a podcast on it as well. You guys, like seriously, if you are someone who feels like you're getting shoved underwater, gasping for air just enough and then shoved back down, you are not alone. We're all feeling this way right now, this constant inundation that we're all kind of going through. So really, like I thought that that was awesome, but you asked me a question. You were like, if a genie showed up tomorrow, what would you wish for? And I was like, and immediately I'm like, money, health, like, you know, and I was like, no, I'm gonna, I'm gonna wait. I want to really think about this. So it took me like three full days to really figure out what I wanted at my core. You guys, how long would it take you? Like, I mean, we should all know this. Like, so. What are the flip it real quick. When you're talking to someone about what you're good at at work, speaking of what you do is not who you are. Right. It's easier said than done. But like one of my life goals, Lisa, is to make sure I always have friends outside of work that have nothing to do with my work because it helps me stay balanced. Right. Keeps me keeps me doing many things. But one of the things that I was saying was I was like, OK, so. If I wanted a job. I could say, I want all of these things in a job, but at its core, there's something there, right? That seed that's driving those other things. if I could ask a genie for anything, what would it be? I just really profoundly changed the way that I think about things because I was like, okay, I want to be blissfully happy. That's what I want. Whatever that looks like, I don't know. but I just want to be blissfully happy. And then I asked Lisa Smith and we had this lady summit in November where she came to town and we brainstormed for three days about what we wanted this podcast to be and who we wanted to listen to the podcast and why, what hopefully people would walk away with. And you know, it was, she was like, I want peace. That's what I want. But it also took her a good three days to figure that out. So I'm going to turn the question back to you, Lisa. So if a genie showed up, tomorrow as the Lisa Ryan, can have whatever you want. What would you wish for? ⁓ I would wish to never have another negative thought ever in my life. And you guys, like I know that sounds very ⁓ simple, but I am somebody who my mind, I have a special brand of anxiety where I, if I'm looking at a mirror, I only see the crack in the corner of the mirror. It's just the way my brain is built. It's through all like, all of your synopses that are formed during your young life, you know, for whatever reason, there was some sort of trauma there that felt, made me feel like I always had to have a plan and where everything is worst case scenario, that's the way my brain is hardwired. So I have to really focus on saying, okay, there is a whole mirror here that is fine. Let's just, the crack could be fine. It will live there on its own. So being blissfully happy is work. Like I have to really... focus on it be like, does this bring me happiness? Right? And with your no negative thoughts, like easier said than done, I'm sure. ⁓ yeah, true. And I just feel like though, too, going back to the genie in a bottle, every thought we have, if you think about it, in my mind, what I hear the universe say to me is your wish is my command. So if you're thinking something negative, the universe is saying your wish is my command. If you're thinking something positive, the universe is saying, your wish is my command. Because at the end of the day, the universe doesn't know, ⁓ you probably don't want that, that's not good for you. Instead, the universe will bring you wherever your attention is. So where your attention goes, the energy flows, right? And that is exactly what happened. So you start putting those vibes out there and the universe is gonna bring you more of that. because that's what you're attracting to you. So for me, I say to myself, that little reminder is just basically like, okay, so if I'm thinking negative thoughts, if I'm driving in traffic and somebody cuts me off and I start making this horrible story in my head about why they did it and why that happened to me and it's a personal attack on me, right? The universe is like, okay, your wish is my command. Well, guess what? If I stay on that vibe, The day doesn't typically unfold in all the best ways, right? You know, you get to work and somebody bumps their car, you know, your door, your car door. You're like, what? And then, you know, then you get into your office and your computer won't work or it can just keep coming. It just keeps coming. And you're like, oh, this is a crappy day. Okay. Your, your wish is my command. know, so it just, mean, you guys, your wish is my command. Like Lisa, that is so. It's simple and so profound and it's an easy way to re-hardwire when you're getting negative thoughts. You're like, this what I'm wishing for? Is this what I'm asking for? No? Well then let's shift it and move it into a different direction. And in the bonus episode, I'm going to share with you guys ⁓ a situation that happened where I really put this into practice and it worked. And I texted Lisa, but we'll talk about that. So you have to come back for the bonus episode. ⁓ so I love that that is your high five experience. I love that things are you, you get what you deserve. I truly believe that in this life. And Lisa, you have been there for so many people in so many ways. I'm so happy that the universe is being there for you. And I mean, I love it. ⁓ so this is the part where I want to kind of go into the board. So Lisa and I created And again, you have a vision board. heard you mention that. Lisa and I have this board that we have is sort of a vision board. It's different things that we want to try and experience outside of work, outside of our normal safe boundaries to do or experience different or unusual things that will bring us closer to our goals of being blissfully happy or finding peace. So on your vision board, and I'll ask in a minute, like, is there anything on there that you think that you want to add? But I want to put a different lens on it, a different little spin. So someone who might not have a job in a couple of months, I was like, I need to, like, I want to still do the board experience, but I want to think of ways that I can be blissfully happy that don't cost any money, right? So like, I can't afford to go have a massage or I can't afford to go and see a psychic, you know, or any of those things. Like if I'm really not working, I want to try to save those resources. So I was thinking of different things and I'm gonna run it by you, but then want you to, of course, chime in. So I was thinking, okay, giving people compliments, genuine authentic compliments does not cost me anything. And it means so, so much. Like when someone compliments me and it's authentic, years later, I remember that compliment in that person, right? So I think if you're nice to someone and give someone a genuine compliment, that's something that can go on the board that is going to bring me joy and me happiness and get me closer to my goals, but also resoundingly impact the vibe, right? So what are some other things you can think of? Well, I'm going to pull a thread there. yesterday, I was out and about, I was out running. And where I was running, they hadn't yet turned on the water fountains. So I was parched and I'm like, I need to find some water. So I finally found a ⁓ refreshment stand and naturally there's a big long line because that's the only place to find water. so I noticed the lady that's working and she's ringing people up and she's like got her head down and she's just like barely getting it done. Right. And so I was thinking, I hope she doesn't have a headache. But every person that went up there, it was very transactional. just gave me, I asked. I take, I give you money, I'm out, right? And I feel like the magic that occurs when humans experience one another is something that money can never buy. And so I showed up at the window and instead of the first thing saying, I'd like a bottle of water, the first thing I said is, are you feeling okay today? And she stopped and she looked at me and I said, I've noticed that you're putting your hand on your head and I hope that it's not because you have a headache." And she said, and her face, she stood up a little bit taller, her face got a little bit brighter and she said, no, it's just really hot in here. I feel really hot. And I said, ⁓ okay. I said, well, that you can work through. said, I know. what it feels like to have a headache and especially when you have one and you have to work, said, which can be really difficult. So I feel good knowing that that's not what's ailing you. And she all of a sudden just felt seen. our exchange was so different. so she got me my water and then we were chatting and she was explaining, oh, how they don't turn the air conditioning on until a certain time, but it's okay. And you know, it's not that bad. after all, and we parted saying, I'm grateful I got to meet you today. And she says, me too. And I said, I hope you have a great day. And I walked away. And so that exchange did something for me. It made me feel happy. And I know that it did something for her. So little things can be such a big difference. And like you said, it doesn't cost anything. How about this? You know what's really fun? When you're driving and somebody lets you into the lane, when you wave thank you and they wave thank you back, everybody feels better. It's a very simple thing. And it's largely because in our world today, taking time to see another human and acknowledge them, even if you don't know them, isn't something we do that often. But I guarantee you, if you did, It makes a big difference. I did something, I talked about this on a podcast. I made a deliberate effort one day, I was going to the grocery store and I said, I am going to put out such a high vibe that everybody in the store is gonna wanna talk to me. And I did, and I walked in that store, know, and I'm gonna tell you, every department I went to, somebody, whether they work there or not, was asking if they could help me. How are you doing today? They were engaging because the energy that I was putting out was so magnetic that everybody wanted to be a part of it without even knowing it. So all that to say, it is incredible how you can not only shift your own vibe, but the vibes of those around you. that's what it's all about. Cost zero, but it doesn't just happen. And that's something I talk a lot about is it's all work. But where do you want to put your time and your money and your energy, right? And how, like, even if doesn't cost anything, just really just genuine, authentic acts of kindness, interactions with other humans, walking in, just knowing everything is going to go your way. I mean, those are all ways that you can leave it better than you found it. Right. Right. And I think that that is such an important mindset. And I want to say too that I get it. when life can be heavy. Life can get heavy. We're all human. understand that. And I have had my share of experience and in a time when I wasn't really always thinking through everything happening for me, it is really easy to fall into a victim state. So in many instances, I just want to say too, that I recently learned there is a gentleman that used to be a comedian. His name is Kyle Cease. Now, I never knew him as a comedian. I know him as an author. But he ⁓ actually really gave me a good message. And it also aligns to something called the Sedona Method, which Lester Levinson created. And it's basically where you acknowledge your negative thoughts. And you actually are grateful for them. Because what we resist persists. So if we have negativity coming into our world and we start saying, why is this happening to me? I wish this wasn't happening. Or we are scrolling through TikTok or Instagram and we're seeing people living their best lives and we're like, I can't go do that right now. I don't have the money to go do that. Those, all of that is you putting out the vibration of lack, which then the universe says your wish is my command and brings that back to you. Rather when you have... those negative thoughts, the objective is not to resist them. So you say, I'm feeling envious right now, and I love that. I'm feeling sad right now and I love that. And that is basically your way of wrapping your arms around that negativity and saying, thank you for this. Thank you for bringing awareness to me. I appreciate that. And then as that thought might come up again, the impact that it has on your body, that cortisol and that adrenaline doesn't typically flow because you... are actually acknowledging it and you're not resisting it. And it makes a big difference. Lisa I did talk, Lisa talked a lot about the impacts of stress on your body. And I've read that book, Your Body Keeps the Score. And so what a great tactic. And I love, I think that's we all need more of Lisa, our tactics, right? Like what, what in my toolbox can I deploy? So accepting the negative thought, being grateful for that negative thought. And you guys, we all have them. It sneaks in everywhere. We just want to make sure it doesn't become who we are. right? And that is what I am working on every single day. with that, want to turn it into we're almost at the end of our episode, ⁓ but we do listener homework every single week. Where again, because remember, this is about trying to get people to collaborate and get involved and be here. And one of my friends said something to me that really I never forgot. And she was like, I'm a I'm busy, I work full time, I am married, I have a husband. She was like, I don't have time to socialize. So when I feel like I need connection, I put in my favorite podcast and it's like, I'm with my friends. Right? And so that's really, I mean, we can achieve that here. That would be cool. That would be the dream. Because, you know, I'm an introvert, making friends is not super easy for me, but I love certain podcasts so much so that if I saw the host in person, I would probably fangirl a little bit. So I mean, we could, we'd like to do that here. But I think for our listener homework. What I'd like to do is have you guys talk to us about something that you found the silver lining in, right? Or Lisa, do you have listener homework where maybe you could give everyone a project? Like a ⁓ try this this week. That's a good one. Let's think. Well, how about you tell the story of something that you found a silver lining in? Okay. I'll give a quick project. So when I came back this week, and got the text message that not only did I not get the money that I I was going to get to fund this position, but the money that I had remaining that was going to keep me going was gone. I was like, okay, so this feels very, very bad, but it's not because I genuinely believe in my heart of hearts that this is the universe just pushing me in the direction I'm supposed to go in. The challenge is I don't know what direction that is. Like nothing is really like I mean, the podcast is great. It's been a great learning experience and I love doing it, but I don't know that that's a full-time thing, but we'll see. But I really was like, I didn't let myself get overwhelmed by it. And I just was like, okay, well then this is what it is and I'll just see what else comes up. That's where I found a silver lining that I would not have before we started the podcast. That's amazing. Good. Yes. Okay. So I think, ⁓ I think that one of the things I can maybe help with, and this was actually, I feel like ⁓ awareness, and so Rhonda Byrne writes about this in The Greatest Secret, right? Which was, I think, the book after the famous secret. And The Greatest Secret is all about awareness. So we can talk about all this stuff that we're talking about and how to look on the bright side and find the silver linings and all of that good stuff. but you can only do that if you have awareness. And so my homework for everyone, and I did this to myself and it was very humbling, which is keep a journal, maybe for one day, maybe for two days, of how many negative thoughts you have in a day and how many positive thoughts you have in a day. Because that in and of itself will give you a good baseline as to where you might need to focus for you. So many instances we might think off the cuff like, ⁓ I'm really positive. I'm very optimistic. I never think negative. But you would be amazed how many times you judge people, how many times you have a negative thought, how many times you talk horrible words to yourself, how many times you put limiting beliefs in your path, which is nothing but resistance from you getting to the life you desire. So all of those things, it starts there. And then from there, and it could be, you could bucket it. Are my thoughts all about what everybody else has? Are my thoughts all about negative self-talk to myself? Are all of my thoughts about what's going to be next for me? Are all of my thoughts based in fear? And what is it that I'm afraid of? And so there's all of these ways and things that can come out of just a simple journal that you keep in a day. of where your thoughts typically are. love this. Yeah. So I would say that. And then that then places the amazing seeds for your awareness and where you need to focus most on yourself. I love it. I love it. I'm going to do it 100%. I stopped journaling a long time ago. I don't know why. I don't know. I used to journal all the time, then I stopped. But I have my journal stuff here, so I will definitely do that. think that's a great... I don't want to think negatively, but I find that sometimes I have a hard time leaning positive. And again, it's because I'm just not hardwired that way and it's worked for me. But I know that you didn't get three certifications because it was easy for you. You did it because it was important to you. And this is important to me. So I think that that is great. And you guys, if you hit socials, let us know, like, did you do this? How did it work? I'll post the listener homework to remind everybody. Lisa, I'm sure will love to hear it as well. So I'll definitely do that. So Lisa, in wrapping things up, we always say, make sure that you hydrate. ⁓ Because literally, I had a coach one time tell me that, are you mad? Drink water. Are you sad? Drink water. Are you hungry? Drink water. ⁓ I'm believer in hydrating. Yes. So make sure you guys hydrate. Make sure you roll your shoulders back. Make sure you unclench your jaw. We hold so much in our jaws and in our shoulders, so make sure you do that. And then always make sure that you high five somebody. Like just make sure you just reach out and universe that high five to somebody who either needs it or don't, but just make it a practice and it will help everyone lift up the vibration together. Right? And I want to say too, high five yourself because it all starts with how much you love yourself. That's right. Absolutely. And I love it. I absolutely agree. So you guys high five yourself, high five others. And then this, we're, I'm super, super excited to, to close this episode out and you guys thank you so much. All right. Have a great, great week. Bye, bright high. Bye. Bye. Know someone that needs a high five today? Go ahead and send them this episode. Don't forget to subscribe to the High Five Hot Mess Podcast so you don't miss the next one.
