Speaker 1: seem pretty much safe right maybe even through Andrew and

Speaker 1: jet Um Jena in there. But this episode proves that

Speaker 1: one of these couples isn't as safe as one may

Speaker 1: have thought, and that is Logan and Kate, because Hayden

Speaker 1: shows up on the beach. And if you guys remember Hayden,

Speaker 1: he was the one who said to Gabby during last

Speaker 1: season that she was rough around the edges. He just

Speaker 1: kind of see like the guy that wasn't in it

Speaker 1: for the right reasons. I hate using that expression, but

Speaker 1: he just kind of seemed like the villain right He

Speaker 1: was the one who was obsessed with his golden retriever,

Speaker 1: which we're not and we are not making fun of

Speaker 1: him being obsessed with his Golden Retriever because I'm obsessed

Speaker 1: with golden retrouvers when they just passed by me on

Speaker 1: the sidewalk, their majestic, magical animals. Were obsessed with our

Speaker 1: own dogs. We could not fathom our lives without them.

Speaker 1: Um So, because his dog is sick and has cancer,

Speaker 1: I we understand why he would talk about the dog constantly,

Speaker 1: and that's how he kind of enters this season of

Speaker 1: Paradise talking about the dog. The dog is still alive.

Speaker 1: Apparently he's put like eighty thou dollars into saving the

Speaker 1: dog's life that he could live for next yeor nine months. Again,

Speaker 1: not making fun of it. My parents spent tens of

Speaker 1: thousands of dollars saving some of our dogs in the

Speaker 1: past for you know, I'm for a matter of months

Speaker 1: as well, So we get it. We're not making fun

Speaker 1: of Hayden for being in love with his dog. I'm not.

Speaker 1: I do think six figures for another year is a lot.

Speaker 1: I do think it's a shocking amount and I don't

Speaker 1: you know, I do think it's a shocking number. I

Speaker 1: quite astronomical. One of my dogs and my parents, my parents,

Speaker 1: I'll say, I think there's been about ten thousand dollars

Speaker 1: on her chemo, but she was on chemo for quite

Speaker 1: some time getting what I'm assuming was the treatment that

Speaker 1: this dog beginning, and it was ten thousand, which I

Speaker 1: know is an honor, a blessing that we were able

Speaker 1: to spend that on giving our dog about like an

Speaker 1: extra year of life. But but eighty thousand seems like

Speaker 1: an exaggeration. Anyway, This is not about dog care. This

Speaker 1: podcast isn't about dog care. It's about relationships, and Hayden

Speaker 1: is trying to get one right now with Kate, who

Speaker 1: we thought Kate seemed pretty locked down with Logan, but

Speaker 1: she's not. She is down to go on this date

Speaker 1: with Hayden. Not because she feels fireworks. She doesn't really

Speaker 1: feel sparked after their initial conversation, but she wants, just

Speaker 1: like Eliza wanted to hear from Rodney that Logan really

Speaker 1: wants her to stay, does not want her to go

Speaker 1: out on this date. But because he doesn't do that, because,

Speaker 1: like JN said yesterday's episode, because he's trying not to

Speaker 1: be controlling, he says, you can go for it. Yeah,

Speaker 1: this whole I don't love the language of a test.

Speaker 1: So here's here's my fault to our conversation yesterday. I understand,

Speaker 1: and in this situation where Eliza wants reassurance, I understand

Speaker 1: if Kate wants reassurance. It's hard to tell. I'm sure

Speaker 1: on the beach how interested somebody actually isn't you. You

Speaker 1: can say all you want and you can hang out

Speaker 1: all the time, but you want that that situation to exist.

Speaker 1: I just don't love putting your partner, or any relationship

Speaker 1: in that matter, friendship, parental child relationship, romantic relationship to

Speaker 1: a test, like intentionally testing that human. I don't like

Speaker 1: that idea. I don't think it's necessary. And so this

Speaker 1: is where I think this one's a little different. Okay,

Speaker 1: because she uses the word test. Yeah, she uses the

Speaker 1: word test, and she she said yes only to make

Speaker 1: Logan react. I don't know if Eliza necessarily just did

Speaker 1: it simply to get Rodney's reaction because she was interested

Speaker 1: in justin she wanted to see if there was something there.

Speaker 1: There was some intrigue find it. Kate only said yes

Speaker 1: to get Logan to react in some way. Uh Ben Higgins,

Speaker 1: always realizing things, always realizing things that I didn't. I

Speaker 1: was like, ah, yes, parallel situations. And then you're like no,

Speaker 1: because she like is legitimately saying didn't feel much. I

Speaker 1: didn't feel much with Hayden. But I'm gonna go on

Speaker 1: the day anyway because basically failed the test. Yeah, I

Speaker 1: just don't think it's healthy and and typically I'm never

Speaker 1: going to at least in my life. One, I wasn't

Speaker 1: good at tests in school too. I'm not good at

Speaker 1: passing tests in life. If you have an expectation for

Speaker 1: how I should behave, or respond or perform. One, you're

Speaker 1: asking me to do something, be something other than who

Speaker 1: I am as a person, So you're asking me to

Speaker 1: perform for you. Two, I'm gonna probably not reach out expectation.

Speaker 1: So I'm going to get in trouble either way. I'm

Speaker 1: gonna be on the bad side of this because I'm

Speaker 1: either going to say the wrong thing, not do enough things,

Speaker 1: say the right thing, but yet not show enough motion

Speaker 1: with my body language. You just having these type of

Speaker 1: expectations feels very unhealthy. And I don't know about you,

Speaker 1: Ash or anybody listening. When I'm dating somebody, I'm not

Speaker 1: dating them so that they can be some version of

Speaker 1: themselves that I want them to be. I'm falling in

Speaker 1: love with them because I like who they are to

Speaker 1: me at every moment, at every time, no matter what

Speaker 1: the situation. So when I say, hey, this is a

Speaker 1: I'm pretty much asking you to be who I want

Speaker 1: you to be, and that's not who you fall in

Speaker 1: love with. You're not falling in love with them because

Speaker 1: who they are, right right, right, right? Um. But it

Speaker 1: also seems like in this case, Logan is trying to

Speaker 1: he's trying to not be controlling, which is exactly what

Speaker 1: you said in last episode. He goes, I've been on

Speaker 1: three dates here in Paradise, so who am I to

Speaker 1: say that she can't try another date? And is that

Speaker 1: lodge not fair? Like is that logic not okay? Where

Speaker 1: he's saying, wait, if we're looking at like the scales here, yeah,

Speaker 1: I can't stop her. I don't want her to, but

Speaker 1: just think this situation is very different than the love

Speaker 1: just feels more serious. I feel like the Kate Logan

Speaker 1: situation to me, just feels more middle schoolish and petty,

Speaker 1: girl that you're dating stops dating you for like a

Speaker 1: both of our theories. Anyway, So, hey, didn't Kate go

Speaker 1: on this date? And she's like very turned off by

Speaker 1: him because he's getting sick on the zip lines and

Speaker 1: he's scared on the zip lines and she's having the

Speaker 1: time of her life. She's just not into him. I

Speaker 1: don't think she was into him ever. I don't think

Speaker 1: there was ever a chance that she was going to

Speaker 1: be into Hayden. Uh. It didn't feel like anybody down

Speaker 1: the one person that gave him the biggest runway to

Speaker 1: I kind of had an odd feeling about this date

Speaker 1: he starts talking about his dog and all of that,

Speaker 1: and she is like shocked by that. It's like, why

Speaker 1: are you still on this date? Like, leave then if

Speaker 1: you're gonna bad mouth him and you're not into it,

Speaker 1: stopped dragging him along here. Yeah, that's so true. Jared

Speaker 1: just walked in. Jared, who hasn't seen either of the

Speaker 1: So I'm gonna be understanding and respectful. And it's like, dude, Kate,

Speaker 1: relationships are now back up in the air again. And

Speaker 1: way towards engagements. Yeah, all right, well let's go towards

Speaker 1: the other live triangle now, Allies is love triangle with

Speaker 1: Justice and Rodney. And look, this is when the cast

Speaker 1: gets really vocal about their thoughts and they are so

Speaker 1: team Rodney. Michael says Rodney treated her like a gentleman. Um.

Speaker 1: They say that he's the one that is going to

Speaker 1: actually be serious about her, like in the real world.

Speaker 1: Justin is not ready for this. Like Genevieve, we all

Speaker 1: know she hates just Now. She's like, he's arrogant and

Speaker 1: egotistical and he's not ready for commitment. It's like so

Speaker 1: crazy how everybody who really seems to be friends with

Speaker 1: Justin in real life, like his guy gang, you know,

Speaker 1: the squad from Katie season. They're all like, no, we

Speaker 1: are rooting for Rodney here. There were some parts where

Speaker 1: I was like, oh my gosh, like it was Andrew.

Speaker 1: When Andrew said that that Justin was not the right pick,

Speaker 1: that Rodney was the right pick. That made me feel like, Wow,

Speaker 1: those guys hang out in real life all the time.

Speaker 1: This might be a little awkward when he sees this

Speaker 1: i TM interview. Well, I think some of it has

Speaker 1: to do with the fact that who Rodney has been

Speaker 1: And I mean, Rodney has mentioned it a few times.

Speaker 1: You kind of mentioned it here. I wouldn't be surprised if,

Speaker 1: so all of a sudden to have this switch up

Speaker 1: and these guys are like, wait. Rodney yesterday was telling

Speaker 1: and now she's on a date with Justin. That's crushing

Speaker 1: for Rodney. He has so much more emotion built into

Speaker 1: this already, and I think that's maybe where it's coming

Speaker 1: from too. It's just, you know, I gotta protect my

Speaker 1: buddy here, and my buddy is hurting bad. It's crazy

Speaker 1: because Justin and Rodney are also super close, and we

Speaker 1: don't often see the love trying with people who are

Speaker 1: as close as them. So they do sit down and talk.

Speaker 1: Justin tells Rodney that he's a mix of emotions since

Speaker 1: he's going kind of like head to head with him. Um.

Speaker 1: He says he wants to see where Rodney is at

Speaker 1: and how awkward this is, and Rodney says that yesterday

Speaker 1: was a roller coaster of emotions since he was excited

Speaker 1: to see him come back, but obviously tremendously upset to

Speaker 1: see him take Eliza out, and Justin says he's in

Speaker 1: the same boat. Um, he doesn't want to stress out Eliza.

Speaker 1: And then Rodney says the damage is done and this

Speaker 1: is the situation they're in. He's not necessarily shifting on

Speaker 1: Justin when he says that what he's almost like doing

Speaker 1: is shifting on himself because he's like, I was the

Speaker 1: one who should have said, please, don't go on the date,

Speaker 1: but it's too late to do that. He she's already

Speaker 1: gone the date with both of them, and she's now

Speaker 1: already confused. Then Rodney and Eliza sit down and we

Speaker 1: have a very heartfelt conversation where Rodney admits I should

Speaker 1: have just told you to stay home, that I see

Speaker 1: this great potential between the two of us. Um, but

Speaker 1: I didn't want to, you know, control you. I wanted

Speaker 1: you to like have whatever opportunity you wanted. And Um.

Speaker 1: Rodney asked if she wouldn't have gone if he said

Speaker 1: he didn't want her to go, and she said, no,

Speaker 1: that's what I wanted to hear. I wanted you to

Speaker 1: say I don't want you to go. But now she

Speaker 1: says she needs to see how badly he wants her

Speaker 1: and not just hear how badly he wants her, And

Speaker 1: Rodney leaves the conversation by saying that that is something

Speaker 1: that he can actually change, like he can actually show her.

Speaker 1: So now it's a matter of Rodney kind of like

Speaker 1: figuring out how to show her. And I also am

Speaker 1: interested in that. Is that planning at home dates? Is

Speaker 1: that not doing any interest in any other girl? What

Speaker 1: do you think that is? Ben? I think it's I

Speaker 1: think it's not having interest in any other girl. I mean,

Speaker 1: I think at this point, yeah, this relationships, I just

Speaker 1: don't they don't think there's interest elsewhere elsewhere I think

Speaker 1: the interest is committed to I thought we were getting

Speaker 1: farther along. We're like engagements were gonna be happening next week,

Speaker 1: quite honestly, and so I thought these relationships were super solidified.

Speaker 1: us wrong. You asked last week on the episode, do

Speaker 1: we really don't know the time frame of this season.

Speaker 1: It's it's stretched out. Well. Obviously we've seen new people

Speaker 1: come this week and obviously with justin last week. So, uh,

Speaker 1: I thought we were farther along. And so I just

Speaker 1: in my head, I've been creating these stories that we

Speaker 1: are getting to the end of this, and I'm watching

Speaker 1: these couples like this is the end. Remember you said

Speaker 1: that you didn't think anybody else was coming in? Yeah,

Speaker 1: so no, I think I think at this point, I'm

Speaker 1: I don't know how to gauge where relationships are at

Speaker 1: and where minds are at and if they're still interested

Speaker 1: in dating other people, are going on other dates or not.

Speaker 1: Because I just don't know how far along we are. Yeah, well,

Speaker 1: I think the next scene. I'm curious as to know

Speaker 1: that if the next scene where Justin Eliza are making

Speaker 1: out on one of the beach beds was filmed before

Speaker 1: her conversation with Rodney or after. It was quite jarring

Speaker 1: to see after the conversation, which is why I don't know.

Speaker 1: It's totally fine if she did go and make out

Speaker 1: with Justin right after that conversation, but I feel like

Speaker 1: it was probably I don't know. My guess is that

Speaker 1: it happened beforehand. It just seems like too emotional of

Speaker 1: just said. If she's hugging Rodney, she might be going

Speaker 1: over and kissing Justin after that conversation. It's not good.

Speaker 1: It's not a good sign for Rodney. It's also odd

Speaker 1: only wanting Rodney to step up and say, hey, I

Speaker 1: so still thrown off by him not stopping her from

Speaker 1: that she would have no interest in Ronnie. What I'm
