- 0:07Speaker 1: The plays get broken down and Science gets denied to
- 0:10Speaker 1: come off the bitch. Our two of Off the Bench
- 0:13Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Canes Studio.
- 0:21Speaker 3: All right, welcome back here Off the Bench. A football
- 0:25Speaker 3: Friday l s U tomorrow gonna take down those Arkansas Razorbacks. Alright,
- 0:32Speaker 3: I hate him that golden boot.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I can smell it. I gotta tell you I sold
- 0:36Speaker 2: the golden boot yesterday. It was just the Frank's left
- 0:39Speaker 2: at the press conference. Not too gold, not too gold.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I think it looks like a shiny pity. I would
- 0:45Speaker 2: personally call it the copper boot. It also doesn't say
- 0:48Speaker 2: the golden bootle and he just says the boot with
- 0:51Speaker 2: the boss boot. It was a little dusty, though, you
- 0:55Speaker 2: can say. They dusted it off with the Applo claws.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So they brought it out. Okay, So we found out
- 1:00Speaker 3: it weighs two hundred pounds. I said two thousand yesterday. Sorry,
- 1:03Speaker 3: misread it. Okay, can I make extra Can I make
- 1:08Speaker 3: a mistake? Two hundred pounds again? We told you The
- 1:11Speaker 3: Stats of the Day was made in nineteen ninety six,
- 1:16Speaker 3: ten thousand dollars worth of gold put into that thing. Taylor,
- 1:19Speaker 3: it's not copper. It is gold. Maybe it's rose gold.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Maybe it was the lighted Uh does you know? And
- 1:28Speaker 3: I don't think gold just fades over time. Pretty sure
- 1:31Speaker 3: it is made here. Bronze boot is a good name.
- 1:34Speaker 3: The bronze boot is actually better. What is It's not
- 1:37Speaker 3: the gold but it's just a boot, right.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I always heard battle for the Golden Boot, but all said,
- 1:42Speaker 2: like I have a I took a picture of it.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It just says the boot, like it doesn't say the
- 1:46Speaker 2: Golden Boot anywhere else. Yep.
- 1:48Speaker 3: There's no trophy out there that stirs more emotion, that
- 1:53Speaker 3: makes a tingle come over you.
- 1:54Speaker 2: It gives you goosebumps, like the Golden Boot. That's copper Man,
- 1:58Speaker 2: that's Coffer. This looks like copper. Yeah. No one cares
- 2:02Speaker 2: about the boot.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I hope the guys do. I hope they get excited
- 2:07Speaker 3: for it, be as fans. It's Arkansas. I mean, they
- 2:09Speaker 3: always play us good. They care about the bit. We
- 2:12Speaker 3: don't care about the bit. They care about it.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I like the Arkansas rivalry more than most people.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's a good Robert because it's like always
- 2:19Speaker 3: a good game.
- 2:20Speaker 2: When I became a hardcore LSU football fan, it was
- 2:24Speaker 2: probably three to four. I mean, Arkansas was really good.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I mean, dude, when you guys were playing them, I
- 2:29Speaker 2: mean everybody members the seven game obviously, but like growing up,
- 2:33Speaker 2: we would always go to Gallenburg for Thanksgiving. Guy, every
- 2:36Speaker 2: year we did that for Thanksgiving. You guys always played
- 2:38Speaker 2: Arkansas the day after Thanksgiving, So I mean that was
- 2:42Speaker 2: the that's where I fell in love with Jim Hawthorn
- 2:45Speaker 2: because of the LSU Arkansas games. I mean I would
- 2:47Speaker 2: have to listen to that game on the radio because
- 2:49Speaker 2: we would be driving home typically or driving up to Gallenburg,
- 2:53Speaker 2: depending on when the game fell the day after Thanksgiving. Like,
- 2:56Speaker 2: those were the games that like, like I remember, that's
- 2:58Speaker 2: the core memory for it, Like okay, yeah, they look,
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'll admit it. I remember crying when you guys lost
- 3:04Speaker 2: to Arkansas, yep, because my dad promised me, okay, if
- 3:07Speaker 2: they get back to New Orleans for the Natty, because
- 3:09Speaker 2: I was a little young in O three, if they
- 3:11Speaker 2: get back to the Natty in New Orleans, will go.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I mean, you guys lost to Arkansas and in triple
- 3:16Speaker 2: overtime and all of a sudden, they're crying and Chop
- 3:18Speaker 2: Steakhouse and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Okay, I remember this. Like
- 3:22Speaker 2: my older sister's laughing at me. She's like, Taylor, it's
- 3:24Speaker 2: not that big of a deal. Why are you crying?
- 3:26Speaker 2: That made me cry even more. I mean, and I'm
- 3:28Speaker 2: probably ten years old at this point, but I mean,
- 3:30Speaker 2: like the Arkansas game is a core memory for me,
- 3:33Speaker 2: so like I like it more than most, but like
- 3:35Speaker 2: do I care if it goes away? No, I don't care.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, It's like it's one of those core memories that
- 3:39Speaker 3: people like you hear, like your parents or your people say,
- 3:41Speaker 3: I know exactly where I was when John Lennon was
- 3:43Speaker 3: shot or JFK was assassinated, or when nine to eleven happened.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Those are core memories for them. They know exactly where.
- 3:49Speaker 3: For you, it was just us losing a triple overtime
- 3:52Speaker 3: to Arkansas, right like the first one.
- 3:54Speaker 2: The first one, I was like Kentucky. I think one
- 3:56Speaker 2: of my friends in sixth grade had like a birthday party,
- 3:58Speaker 2: like a pool party or whatever. I'm eye hustle in
- 4:01Speaker 2: the game because I mean I cared more than probably
- 4:03Speaker 2: the average sixth grader did, but that that Arkansas game.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I mean, I like vividly remember that, being just like
- 4:10Speaker 2: devastated that you guys lost that game.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Hey, I was pretty devastated as well. Apparently not as
- 4:15Speaker 3: much as a sixth grader, though.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Oh I was, dude, I was.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I was not in a good place listening a creed.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I'm not blaming you, but like that kind of ruined
- 4:23Speaker 2: my trip that year. That's on me. I mean, yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 2: y all scored fifty points. That's not on you.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I did play pretty bad in the first half, though.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I'd like to watch that film and break down how
- 4:33Speaker 3: bad I was in that first half. But then I
- 4:36Speaker 3: got sprained my shoulder and got a lot of light
- 4:37Speaker 3: of ganthone in there.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It was numb. It was real numb.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Uh. But so we were watching Jake and I were
- 4:42Speaker 3: watching some clips of Arkansas. I don't remember if it
- 4:46Speaker 3: was this, it might have been yesterday at Pro Dreams.
- 4:48Speaker 3: We were watching like a game from two years ago,
- 4:51Speaker 3: and we saw somebody on their team running around with
- 4:53Speaker 3: the number five jersey on, and we were like, why
- 4:56Speaker 3: is somebody in Arkansas wearing number five on?
- 5:01Speaker 2: It was Raheem Sanders, who eventually transferred to South Carolina
- 5:05Speaker 2: also played running back. But yeah, like Darren McFadden first off,
- 5:08Speaker 2: should have won the Heisman Trophy over Troy Smith. I
- 5:10Speaker 2: don't understand still to this day, why Troy Smith won
- 5:12Speaker 2: that Heisman Trophy. I mean that year, I think it
- 5:15Speaker 2: was Troy Smith, Brady Quinn, Darren McFadden were the three finalists.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I think McFadden like finished third behind Troy Smith and
- 5:22Speaker 2: Brady Quinn. That's ridiculous. Like we we told the other day,
- 5:25Speaker 2: Jonathan Taylor's been great, but like it's a quarterback award.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Heisman's kind of a quarterback award too, because there's no
- 5:30Speaker 2: reason Darren McFadden should not have won that award.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you gotta, like, if you're not a quarterback and
- 5:34Speaker 3: you're gonna win it, you gotta be special, right, But
- 5:37Speaker 3: Darren McFadden was absolutely.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Sooner Fadden threw passes for our consult he rickoll returner.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I mean he was everything for that team. Yeah, he was.
- 5:45Speaker 3: He was everything, And it is a it is a
- 5:49Speaker 3: shame that you looked around, you looked at I think
- 5:51Speaker 3: we talked about it with Tebow fifteen at Florida, you
- 5:53Speaker 3: looked at McFadden five.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You look over here.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I hate seeing somebody here at LSU wearing seventy two.
- 5:59Speaker 3: It's like these jerseys, like people just read the room
- 6:01Speaker 3: a little bit like celebrate, it's your Arkansas celebrate a
- 6:06Speaker 3: generational guy that everybody knows and respects. Was a great
- 6:09Speaker 3: human like I was teammates with him in Oakland. He
- 6:11Speaker 3: was awesome, real quiet, humble, confident, like everything you kind
- 6:17Speaker 3: of want in that type of guy. Reward somebody like
- 6:21Speaker 3: that celebrated. You don't think it looks good for recruits
- 6:23Speaker 3: to hear about that story.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:26Speaker 3: And maybe his name isn't the state and they just
- 6:28Speaker 3: don't they have a rule against the jersey, and I
- 6:30Speaker 3: don't know. We were just watching it and it was
- 6:32Speaker 3: a random thought like why in the hell is somebody
- 6:34Speaker 3: at Arkansas wearing number five?
- 6:35Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:36Speaker 3: It just pisses me off. Of course, I played against them,
- 6:37Speaker 3: so I'm a little bit biased towards that. And yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 3: I got it, people, you can shut it. We lost,
- 6:45Speaker 3: they beat us.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I got it. Yeah, sorry to bring that up. Well.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Freshman Taylor freshman wide receiver Ja Kayden Ferguson wears five
- 6:52Speaker 2: this year seems electric to me. Freshman wide receiving number
- 6:56Speaker 2: five to a freshman. They should, they should, If that's
- 7:00Speaker 2: to happen, they should get.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Written signed permission by Darren McFadden to wear that jersey number.
- 7:04Speaker 2: He might be the best SEZ running back of my lifetime.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I mean, I wasn't there for Herchel Walker, Bo Jackson,
- 7:11Speaker 2: all those guys, Like I get all that, but I'm
- 7:14Speaker 2: talking like can do everything. Like obviously he wasn't the
- 7:16Speaker 2: physical runner of a Fournette or at Derrick Henry or
- 7:18Speaker 2: anybody like that. But Guyl should be on that list.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, before his injury, Todd Gurley would
- 7:25Speaker 2: have been on that list his first couple of years
- 7:27Speaker 2: at Georgia. I would put him on that list for me.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Derrick Henry's on that list and that's three.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Well, yeah, because Alabama had some Heisman winners, right.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They had marking mark Ingham ship won. Shout out to
- 7:40Speaker 2: mark Ingram. He did a lot for the Saints. Mark
- 7:42Speaker 2: Ingram shuld not have won that heusmand Co McCoy should
- 7:43Speaker 2: have won that Heusman Trophy. I say that all the time,
- 7:46Speaker 2: like that's big col McCoy guy here Texas wins the
- 7:49Speaker 2: Naty and the only guest we get on the show
- 7:52Speaker 2: that you get nervous on. No, that was a laundra
- 7:54Speaker 2: she gets Lad's big, she's the big Lauder.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Why do you get so nervous when you got call
- 8:00Speaker 3: Colt McCoy.
- 8:03Speaker 4: So I've said this before. I don't get nervous calling
- 8:06Speaker 4: anybody at this point. But for some reason, maybe because
- 8:09Speaker 4: I grew up just like, wait, hold on, let me put.
- 8:11Speaker 2: The camera on me and there we go.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Sorry, I'm struggling back here. Okay, So for some reason,
- 8:15Speaker 4: I think because I grew up and he was just
- 8:17Speaker 4: like such a Texas legend. And obviously, I mean I
- 8:20Speaker 4: was a little girl. He's good looking, probably had a
- 8:23Speaker 4: crush on him. So whenever I call him my, that's
- 8:27Speaker 4: the only person I get nervous. My hands starts sweating
- 8:30Speaker 4: and my heart starts like fluttering a little bit.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Heaste fair, that's a fair point. I mean Colt McCoy
- 8:38Speaker 2: for the show. So like again, unpopular opinion, I get it.
- 8:42Speaker 2: When people ask me best Texas quarterback of my lifetime,
- 8:46Speaker 2: I say cold McCoy, not Vin Jeng. I love Ben Jong.
- 8:48Speaker 2: He was electric in that National championship. Well, Cole McCoy did. Like, Okay,
- 8:52Speaker 2: remember remember like when when Burrow was in college, they
- 8:56Speaker 2: were like, oh, he'll break the single season record, but
- 8:58Speaker 2: you know, Baker Mayfield played for five years, all the
- 9:00Speaker 2: Big twelve records. Cole McCoy had all of those single
- 9:03Speaker 2: season records that Joe Burrow broke, he hit all of them.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I mean, people just forget how good he was because
- 9:08Speaker 2: it didn't result in a Natty, it didn't result in
- 9:10Speaker 2: a Heisman Trophy. But I mean cold McCoy like in
- 9:12Speaker 2: my in my that's the best Texas quarterback in my lifetop. Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So I grew up obviously in Texas. I remember that
- 9:20Speaker 3: whole situation, the drama between like Major apple White Chris Simms.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I think I was early high school at that point,
- 9:27Speaker 3: maybe late middle school. I can't remember exactly when, but
- 9:29Speaker 3: like everybody that we all everyone I hated Texas in general.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I was a Baylor guy, but like just watching it,
- 9:36Speaker 3: everyone even more so hated Chris Simms because this guy
- 9:38Speaker 3: shouldn't be playing. I know he can spend it for sure,
- 9:41Speaker 3: Major apple White, that guy, that guy's awesome. Then he
- 9:43Speaker 3: came into that bowl game they had it was it
- 9:45Speaker 3: was awesome Lattimore.
- 9:48Speaker 2: How about Latimore in South Carolina before Marcus Lottimore would
- 9:50Speaker 2: have been would have been on there as well. Like
- 9:52Speaker 2: I hated the injury of Marcus A. Lottimore And like
- 9:56Speaker 2: remember when when they beat Alabama, Stephen Garcia was the quarterback. Look,
- 10:01Speaker 2: Stephen Garcia made things happen. He wouldn't have ever considered
- 10:04Speaker 2: a premier quarterback in the SEC. But that team had
- 10:07Speaker 2: a freshman Marcus A lot of more. They had a
- 10:09Speaker 2: sophomore al Sean Jeffrey. That South Carolina team that beat
- 10:12Speaker 2: Alabama that year and I ultimately went to the SEC championship.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Now Auburn destroyed him because they destroyed everybody that year
- 10:18Speaker 2: with Cam Newton, but no Marcus Latimore. Man, I mean
- 10:21Speaker 2: I remember, oh well he came to Tiger Stadium. It
- 10:25Speaker 2: was him. Jadavian Clowney was at thirteen twenty thirteen, his
- 10:30Speaker 2: last year there. This was actually after the first injury
- 10:33Speaker 2: and he was still really good. It was that second
- 10:35Speaker 2: knee injury it did him in. Like I remember when
- 10:38Speaker 2: the forty nine ers picked him up in the NFL,
- 10:40Speaker 2: Like I was excited because I was a big Marcus
- 10:42Speaker 2: A lot of more fan and it just wasn't like
- 10:45Speaker 2: a super like nice dude too.
- 10:47Speaker 3: He tore every he tore all four ligaments in his knee,
- 10:50Speaker 3: So his injury looked a lot like you were way
- 10:53Speaker 3: too younger.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I don't know even if you're born.
- 10:55Speaker 3: When Willis mcgahey got hurt, yeah, in Miami, it's like
- 10:58Speaker 3: the same type of injury everything. Wils mcgahey ended up
- 11:01Speaker 3: coming back. He had a long dad played with the
- 11:03Speaker 3: Ravens for a while.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I believe Buffalo Bills as well.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Buffalo Bills your former team, Yeah, my former team.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Absolutely. Also, you were asking why people are allowed to
- 11:13Speaker 2: wear five after Darren McFadden, Why is Josh Allen allowed
- 11:16Speaker 2: to wear seventeen of the U ward. That's a really
- 11:19Speaker 2: good point.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Like a lot of people think that Josh Allen just
- 11:21Speaker 3: like maybe seventeen popular up in Buffalo. I'd argue that
- 11:24Speaker 3: one game I dressed up, I was a backup quarterback
- 11:27Speaker 3: there one time against the Bengals we won. Coincidence, I
- 11:32Speaker 3: don't know.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think they weren't good
- 11:35Speaker 2: when you were there, Like they were not the dominant.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You could be like, oh you won the game, Like no,
- 11:38Speaker 2: like you could do the difference maker.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Actually, Jeff Toole was the starting quarterback that gave that
- 11:42Speaker 3: I was bad. It was my it was my first
- 11:44Speaker 3: week there or my second week there. Jeff Tool Washington State,
- 11:47Speaker 3: Is that right?
- 11:47Speaker 2: I think so? Yeah, it was wild.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Nathaniel Hackett was the offensive coordinator. We had nine plays
- 11:54Speaker 3: going to that game and we just went really fast.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Jeff Toool was Washington State. Yeah, I mean he was
- 11:59Speaker 2: used at the times again.
- 12:04Speaker 3: All right, well, check out in front of this desk
- 12:08Speaker 3: right here. Little hydration, little perfect hydration for fell, a
- 12:12Speaker 3: little thirst. If you're ready for a little walker tomorrow.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I like to call that like a just a nice
- 12:16Speaker 3: fresh cocktail. You can walk around with, call a little walker,
- 12:19Speaker 3: walk and talk a little bit, mingle a little my high,
- 12:23Speaker 3: maybe a little podka, maybe not having next to do sekis,
- 12:27Speaker 3: whatever it is. Drink my high, stea hydrated, a little
- 12:30Speaker 3: perfect electrolytes. Don't do what Taylor does and try to
- 12:33Speaker 3: go for the competitors. Taylor's that kind of guy steps
- 12:37Speaker 3: out of the foxhole sometimes when he needs a hydrate.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Now, look, I told you this, and I don't like
- 12:43Speaker 2: to stroke the egos, so you know, I mean it
- 12:45Speaker 2: when I say it that fruit punch my High man
- 12:48Speaker 2: like that's the only one I drink anymore. I don't
- 12:51Speaker 2: know what it.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Is, that's right, It's just like it's just something about it.
- 12:54Speaker 3: It's all that research and development we did, Taylor, in
- 12:57Speaker 3: summer months when I cut the grass, and I cut
- 12:59Speaker 3: the grass a lot, know that the.
- 13:01Speaker 2: My High hits hits. What you do is see I
- 13:04Speaker 2: got I got the trick down. You cut half the grass. Okay,
- 13:07Speaker 2: you stop, you go, put the my High in the
- 13:09Speaker 2: in the bottle, put it in the freezer because it's
- 13:11Speaker 2: not gonna freeze over. I only have like twenty minutes left,
- 13:14Speaker 2: but you come out it's a little iced over. Oh okay,
- 13:16Speaker 2: come on, come on, come on. Great.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what you call about being proactive, right there, Taylor.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Uh.
- 13:24Speaker 3: People in the chat saying, yeah, Taylor definitely knows more
- 13:27Speaker 3: about Matt's career than Matt.
- 13:29Speaker 2: It's that. Look, the seventeen it's not because I work
- 13:32Speaker 2: with the two guys I get it to. Oh seventeen
- 13:34Speaker 2: is my favorite L Shue team of all time because
- 13:37Speaker 2: again I was young in O three. I mean I
- 13:39Speaker 2: was what second grade two thousand and three, Like the
- 13:42Speaker 2: seven team was the that was my first national championship
- 13:46Speaker 2: team that like I vividly remember. So yeah, like that's
- 13:48Speaker 2: always going to be my favorite team. Height Rivers shout
- 13:50Speaker 2: out too.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Someone's noticing the staggered display here, I got that's not me.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Rivers put this staggered.
- 13:55Speaker 3: It creates a little uh little texture, a little little
- 13:59Speaker 3: design element right here, really pops.
- 14:01Speaker 2: It's nice work.
- 14:02Speaker 3: If people are also talking about in the chat, we
- 14:06Speaker 3: know that Jake's not sick.
- 14:07Speaker 2: We know he's interviewing with Verge right now. What position?
- 14:11Speaker 2: I don't know. Well, maybe he's part of the committee.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Maybe he's help me pick. He could be. I think
- 14:15Speaker 2: he's lying to us. He might be, because like he's
- 14:18Speaker 2: he's asked, hey can I be part of the committee
- 14:20Speaker 2: so many times, like it might actually be on it
- 14:22Speaker 2: throw the well. And then I was thinking, okay, well,
- 14:24Speaker 2: if Jake's interviewing, it's clearly for the head coaching position,
- 14:26Speaker 2: but the way the LSU's done everything so out of order,
- 14:29Speaker 2: it's probably not. They'll probably hire the coordinators and be like, hey,
- 14:33Speaker 2: head coach, you gotta roll with these guys. Yeah, these
- 14:35Speaker 2: are the coordinators.
- 14:36Speaker 3: We handpicked ourselves as business owners, right not as football guys.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Uh Yeah, I honestly I wish I could tell y'all
- 14:46Speaker 3: that that was the case, that we were actually lying
- 14:49Speaker 3: and that he was helping pick or at least having
- 14:52Speaker 3: some sort of input or a suggestion, maybe a suggestion
- 14:55Speaker 3: box type situation where you can blindly put in suggestions.
- 14:58Speaker 3: And here's my reasoning is why I wish that Jake
- 15:01Speaker 3: was able to do that Because what better person to
- 15:02Speaker 3: be qualified than a guy that knows that literally has
- 15:05Speaker 3: relationships because of all these interviews and all the travels
- 15:07Speaker 3: he does with all these coaches to be able to
- 15:09Speaker 3: tell you a guy's background, a little bit about guy's personality,
- 15:12Speaker 3: a little bit of a guy's grip that he might
- 15:14Speaker 3: have all over the country. I'm not talking about from
- 15:16Speaker 3: coast to coast he does because this show he does
- 15:18Speaker 3: every DAYWN serious, that's national, that's not just SEC. So
- 15:21Speaker 3: he knows Dyllingham person, everybody, everybody in this at a
- 15:24Speaker 3: personal level.
- 15:26Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't know any anytime I see somebody
- 15:30Speaker 2: on TV and I'm like, I wonder what they're like
- 15:31Speaker 2: in real life, I'm like, called Jake Keuster knows, he
- 15:34Speaker 2: knows the story with him, He has a relationship.
- 15:37Speaker 3: He knows the guy that if that does have the
- 15:39Speaker 3: relationship and he can get that type of fun and
- 15:41Speaker 3: I know other people do too.
- 15:42Speaker 2: He's not he's not unique.
- 15:43Speaker 3: I just hope that that you know, and I'm talking
- 15:46Speaker 3: about him specifically now, I just hope that that is
- 15:48Speaker 3: part of there's people like that consulting with the situation.
- 15:51Speaker 3: But based on the people name to the committee, I
- 15:54Speaker 3: don't know if I if we have that or not,
- 15:56Speaker 3: but I guess we're going to trust the trust. We
- 16:01Speaker 3: are gonna hope.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, I'm excited. I am excited.
- 16:05Speaker 3: And look, the coaches, let's talk about that when we
- 16:07Speaker 3: come back from break here, we'll talk about the coaches,
- 16:09Speaker 3: the situation, names and just know there's not just one
- 16:13Speaker 3: person that would be really good at LSU.
- 16:15Speaker 2: There's multiple people.
- 16:16Speaker 3: So cast the net, see what happens, hopefully get some
- 16:20Speaker 3: good feedback. But yeah, we'll keep talking about that, the
- 16:22Speaker 3: coaching search. We'll keep talking about LSU Arkansas right here on,
- 16:26Speaker 3: off the.

- 19:13Speaker 3: We got a little three person desk here.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Three elite athletes, and you're talling up.
- 19:17Speaker 3: To where your three lead athletes. Absolutely, Uhre's chair works.
- 19:21Speaker 3: The breakfast chair works because you're talling. We're at the
- 19:23Speaker 3: same height. I'm slatching a little bit.
- 19:25Speaker 5: I feel like I might a little back here right now.
- 19:27Speaker 5: But yeah, I'm excited. I love this week love DLAs
- 19:29Speaker 5: Arkansas games gonna be the only game I'm going this weekend.
- 19:32Speaker 5: First going, Yeah, I got some uh. I got a
- 19:35Speaker 5: lot of family from Arkansas that are coming in for
- 19:37Speaker 5: the game.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So we're all.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Gonna go hang out. You got family from Marcus. Yeah,
- 19:41Speaker 5: they're all from Mississippi that now living on it. Okay,
- 19:43Speaker 5: while they go little duckin Uh duck hunting is great
- 19:46Speaker 5: up there. It's more about the paper mills. My whole
- 19:49Speaker 5: family grew up another paper mill. They built a paper
- 19:51Speaker 5: mill in Ashtown, Arkansas. A section of the Dixons all
- 19:54Speaker 5: went up there.
- 19:54Speaker 3: All right, have you have you ever been to Faville?
- 19:58Speaker 2: No?
- 19:58Speaker 5: We always played little Rock, Yeah, we always play. But
- 20:01Speaker 5: when they talk about like my brother when he came
- 20:03Speaker 5: through that he played they played Fable, Yeah, and they
- 20:06Speaker 5: said it was so much better, Like they love that stadium.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard of all accounts like fade those awesome.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Yeah, we didn't get to experience it. We didn't get
- 20:13Speaker 5: to experience it at all.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Like strangely enough, like like northern Arkansas sneaky pretty like
- 20:18Speaker 3: you like we used to go up there, like in
- 20:20Speaker 3: the mountains and stuff, and like when I was like
- 20:22Speaker 3: when I was growing up, middle school, high school, we
- 20:24Speaker 3: go fly fishing up there.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Don't think I like the White River. There's some tourism
- 20:28Speaker 5: deal up there in the mounta. You can go like
- 20:29Speaker 5: look for diamonds, like they got some diamond mines and
- 20:32Speaker 5: some stuff that people can go fi. You can go
- 20:34Speaker 5: find some gold. Oh yeah, you can go find gold
- 20:36Speaker 5: all types of good stuff. Yeah, that's where they got
- 20:38Speaker 5: the gold from the boot.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Actually you know that right right there.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Taylor said it was.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Bron it's pretty bronze.
- 20:45Speaker 5: I mean it's not I don't ever remember touching that
- 20:48Speaker 5: thing like for me, But what was all funny? That?
- 20:50Speaker 2: Ain't that? Ain't gold?
- 20:51Speaker 5: No, And like it was always funny playing in that game.
- 20:55Speaker 5: And you win the game and not trying to be
- 20:57Speaker 5: mean or rude or whatever. Like you turn around and
- 20:59Speaker 5: look who ran to the hold the trophy first, Like
- 21:02Speaker 5: all the clean jerseys ain't nobody, you.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Know, So he's gotta get it. I said yesterday, I
- 21:07Speaker 3: reported it was two thousand pounds. It's not two hundred,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but I thought it was two thousand.
- 21:12Speaker 5: And zeroes don't hurt anything. Yeah, it just makes it
- 21:15Speaker 5: sound stronger.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yea. Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I remember like after that game early on in my
- 21:19Speaker 3: credit and I'd never heard of the Golden Dude. I
- 21:21Speaker 3: think I barely had heard of LSU when I decided
- 21:23Speaker 3: to come here. Right in my recruiting process. I grew
- 21:25Speaker 3: up in Texas. I didn't really like my horizons weren't expanded,
- 21:28Speaker 3: and so I hear about it and I see and
- 21:30Speaker 3: they're like, oh yeah, we beat Arkansas, we get this trophy.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, tight, that's real, real cool man,
- 21:37Speaker 3: cool dude, that's a big raveerry but whatever.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know, man, Arkansas during my time was
- 21:44Speaker 5: was pretty dangn good.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 5: I heard you'm talking about Darn McFadden buy no question,
- 21:49Speaker 5: best running back in my life.
- 21:52Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:52Speaker 5: I heard you say you know, he wasn't the powerful back.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Darren McFadden was six one five. He's pretty dangn powerful.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Was also so fast, Yeah, I mean I remember when
- 22:00Speaker 5: we played in his ankles by this big six when
- 22:05Speaker 5: he broke one and dusted Laurn. Landry and Laurn was
- 22:08Speaker 5: a fast go with Lauren were like a four to
- 22:10Speaker 5: three something to forty when Lauren got dusted by McFadden
- 22:14Speaker 5: and the guy that's like six one six twenty five,
- 22:16Speaker 5: that dude was rolling. But then you also had Felix Jones.
- 22:19Speaker 5: I mean they were running the freaking wishbone in two
- 22:21Speaker 5: thousand and six, in two thousand and seven, and you
- 22:23Speaker 5: had Casey Dick at quarterback. Yeah, he was a hitch
- 22:28Speaker 5: mustang Casey Dick. They went through a whole little thing.
- 22:31Speaker 5: It didn't matter. You had Darn Fadden, Peyton Hillis and
- 22:34Speaker 5: Feeler Jones. Yep, Fadden threw more touchdowns in the quarterbacks.
- 22:37Speaker 5: I remember say Houston Nutt was a quarterback or the coach. Yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 5: then you had Casey Dick, and then you had Robert Johnson.
- 22:42Speaker 5: I remember the headline on the newspaper one time, he
- 22:44Speaker 5: said nut benches Johnson for Dick. Oh Houston. That was
- 22:51Speaker 5: an a hole man. He didn't like that guy in
- 22:54Speaker 5: great headline.
- 22:55Speaker 2: You know that.
- 22:55Speaker 3: You know that whoever that Colin Ryder was or that
- 22:58Speaker 3: news was just chacklin. You know he was giggling the
- 23:01Speaker 3: hotel for sure, There's no doubt.
- 23:03Speaker 2: But so Houston.
- 23:05Speaker 5: I got recruited pretty heavily by Arkansas. Like I said,
- 23:08Speaker 5: my uncle was up there. My next door neighbor growing
- 23:11Speaker 5: up was like an Arkansas All American, Bruce Jones. Bruce James,
- 23:16Speaker 5: I played d Lion Hecks, got a radio show up
- 23:18Speaker 5: in Arkansas, and so I was always interested in. One
- 23:21Speaker 5: of my favorite players to watch as a kid growing
- 23:23Speaker 5: up was Matt Jones. When he was he was awesome.
- 23:25Speaker 5: I mean, he was such a fun guy. He was
- 23:27Speaker 5: Cam Newton.
- 23:27Speaker 2: He was He was like an LSU killer too.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, but like go back and watch that tape.
- 23:32Speaker 5: He was Cam Newton before Camon. He was six six,
- 23:35Speaker 5: He ran a four to four bulldozed people. I mean
- 23:38Speaker 5: when you played the n CUA A PlayStation games back
- 23:41Speaker 5: in like two thousand and two or whenever it first
- 23:43Speaker 5: came out, he was a cheekoo. You went to Arkansas,
- 23:45Speaker 5: you played with Mat Johones.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Wasn't he he was a basketballer, baseball player.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I don't know. I can't remember. I thought I played
- 23:55Speaker 2: wide receiver.
- 23:56Speaker 3: News Matt Jens had a nipple.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Pierce I got to I met the got a little
- 24:00Speaker 5: bit later in life when got what was our wide
- 24:03Speaker 5: receivers coach in two thousand and six, seven, two and six, Uh,
- 24:08Speaker 5: McCarthy was monkinking, Yeah, Monky. So when Monkin went to
- 24:13Speaker 5: Jacksonville's the receivers.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Coach, Carthy was after that.
- 24:15Speaker 5: He was seven of the Yeah, McCarthy head it rough,
- 24:19Speaker 5: but Monkin was awesome. I mean, and he'd been went
- 24:21Speaker 5: to the NFL. He's a guy that I'm surprised and
- 24:25Speaker 5: I'm kind of all over the place right now. But
- 24:27Speaker 5: didn't stay in the college ranks longer because when I
- 24:30Speaker 5: almost went and worked for Hi when he was coaching
- 24:31Speaker 5: at Southern Miss and uh, he took that program to
- 24:34Speaker 5: like eleven and one, twelve and two. They were killing
- 24:38Speaker 5: it when he was there, and I was gonna come
- 24:39Speaker 5: out and work for him, and He's like, nah, buddy,
- 24:43Speaker 5: I'm not gonna be here like he was.
- 24:44Speaker 2: The next name to go get that that job.
- 24:47Speaker 3: You almost crazy if I'm wrong, So you got a
- 24:49Speaker 3: couple of operas. You almost went worked with Henson at Missouri, right,
- 24:53Speaker 3: because Henson was offensive coordinator at Missouri.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh, you know at the time they wanted
- 24:58Speaker 5: to go GA. It was a little bit too late
- 25:00Speaker 5: in life where the offer of like thirty five grand
- 25:03Speaker 5: a year to go coach football was just new. Wasn't
- 25:05Speaker 5: going to cut it for me? Right, you got kids
- 25:07Speaker 5: on the way. I was like, I can't go backwards
- 25:09Speaker 5: in life right now. But if I was single and
- 25:11Speaker 5: everything was good, I mean that that was the dream.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Everybody wanted your coach football. You could have lived in
- 25:15Speaker 5: the dorm and lived off thirty five grands.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Right, Taylor, When Matt Jones was quarterback in for Argus,
- 25:20Speaker 3: how old were you?
- 25:21Speaker 2: What year? I think it was his diapers? Two? Right? Two? Three?
- 25:26Speaker 2: Six here seven?
- 25:27Speaker 3: He locked in go go YouTube, So didn't ruin any
- 25:30Speaker 3: six year old birthday parties.
- 25:31Speaker 2: When Matt Jones beat Us, I kind of got locked
- 25:34Speaker 2: in probably four so little after Matt Jones, Okay, I
- 25:39Speaker 2: know who he is, but I want to say he
- 25:41Speaker 2: was a senior in like four.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Maybe wanted to look it up because I know the
- 25:46Speaker 5: only reason you know.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I know he was. He was there two to four Okay, yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Because he got drafted by Jacksonville and then he just
- 25:55Speaker 5: got in a little bit of trouble.
- 25:57Speaker 2: He got a little bit of t to have a
- 25:58Speaker 2: little fun. He was also basketball. Yeah, he was like
- 26:03Speaker 2: six seven. He had the Arkansas state scoring record. Actually.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just a big, old, lanky guy that was
- 26:07Speaker 3: fast like he would. I remember his legs every time
- 26:10Speaker 3: he strode out, Like every stride was like three or
- 26:13Speaker 3: four yards a stride.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It didn't look like he was moving real quick.
- 26:15Speaker 5: No, I mean he is probably one of the better
- 26:18Speaker 5: quarterbacks in Arkansas history that he gets forgotten about because
- 26:21Speaker 5: of his troubles kind of troubles Bud. He had some
- 26:28Speaker 5: dust problems. He has a dust snow snow. Oh my gosh. Well,
- 26:38Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 26:40Speaker 3: If their current quarterback has any problems like that. But
- 26:43Speaker 3: on the field, he sure seems pretty good.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Oh he's awesome.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he's doing a Taylor Green he is. He makes plays.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I don't he's I was watching him earlier and I
- 26:50Speaker 3: watched some film of him last year and I was like,
- 26:52Speaker 3: this guy is explosive, and even earlier this year, like
- 26:55Speaker 3: a lot of the easy plays he was making kind
- 26:58Speaker 3: of look hard. But the hard plays he is can
- 27:00Speaker 3: look pretty easy.
- 27:01Speaker 5: He's a guy that's perfect for paternal Yeah, he can
- 27:05Speaker 5: kind of mold those guys how he wants them. I
- 27:07Speaker 5: want to say, you know, I don't remember having a
- 27:09Speaker 5: big game against this last year, but I also think
- 27:11Speaker 5: he was nicked up.
- 27:12Speaker 2: He was, he was. He was actually a game time
- 27:13Speaker 2: decision coming into the last year's game.
- 27:16Speaker 5: But I feel like they've had a lot of speed quarterbacks.
- 27:19Speaker 5: I mean, you know the latest Arkansas game that you know,
- 27:22Speaker 5: I remember, you know, to come out for Harrold Perkins
- 27:25Speaker 5: as a freshman when he made all those plays and
- 27:27Speaker 5: kept them in the game. You know, this is just
- 27:29Speaker 5: one of those games that doesn't really matter to the
- 27:31Speaker 5: record or what's going on. It's always just been a
- 27:34Speaker 5: tough game.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Yeah, for whatever reason, and because I went to and
- 27:39Speaker 3: because they're always talented, right they always have and the
- 27:43Speaker 3: way they're coach, they always seem to play their best
- 27:45Speaker 3: against LSU for whatever reason. I mean, and we're giving
- 27:49Speaker 3: like this whole we're making fun of the Golden Boot
- 27:51Speaker 3: a little bit, of course, but this is a big
- 27:53Speaker 3: game for It's a huge game for Arkansas, so you
- 27:55Speaker 3: always get their best shot. And usually LSU is one
- 27:58Speaker 3: of the top dogs, so you're always getting everybody's bet
- 28:00Speaker 3: best shot, and even more so when Arkansas faces you.
- 28:03Speaker 3: So I am and we certainly know seven. They beat
- 28:07Speaker 3: us in triple overtime, and it was, uh didn't hurt
- 28:10Speaker 3: that they had Peyton Ellis and Felix Jones and Darren mcfatten.
- 28:13Speaker 5: And McFadden threw for two touchdowns in that game. Pretty impressive. Yeah,
- 28:16Speaker 5: and then they score on a fourth and ten, Yeah
- 28:19Speaker 5: to beat us.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Yeah, long touchdown past the Jacob got called back for
- 28:23Speaker 3: a legal formation.
- 28:26Speaker 2: It was tight, all right.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Well, we got Richard Dixon the house, we got Taylor,
- 28:30Speaker 3: we got a Lunder back in the studio.
- 28:32Speaker 2: We're just crushing it here. Do we even need Jake?
- 28:35Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Hey, he just needs to feel bad, Jake. He's just
- 28:38Speaker 3: got a little baby tummy. He got a little sickness happening.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I know your immune system. It's a little shot. We
- 28:43Speaker 3: get it. It's okay, We forgive you. We got this, Foxhall.
- 28:46Speaker 3: We're gonna come back. We got about another hour and
- 28:49Speaker 3: a half left in the show right here at Rowse's
- 28:51Speaker 3: so we got a lot to talk about, a lot
- 28:52Speaker 3: to get to right here, and we will.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Come back on off the bench.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, go to pelicanroof dot compelicanroof
- 29:04Speaker 3: dot com. Of course, that's the website for Pelican Roofing.

- 30:36Speaker 2: revolution from bad.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Because you said two thousand and seven, Champs Purple and
- 30:45Speaker 1: Gold to the core. This is Off the Bench with
- 30:48Speaker 1: Hester and Flynn Baton, Rouge's go to for all things
- 30:52Speaker 1: Louisiana sports place.
- 30:57Speaker 3: All right, welcome back off the bench right here live
- 31:00Speaker 3: at Rouse's ralses on Burban.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Come check us out, come see us.
- 31:03Speaker 3: There's a little time left, I think on this breakfast bar,
- 31:06Speaker 3: still see the steam arising. I can smell it here.
- 31:10Speaker 3: My gotta still make it sushi. By the way, that
- 31:11Speaker 3: dude's been making seashee for two hours now. It is
- 31:14Speaker 3: good stuff, really good stuff. So if you want a
- 31:16Speaker 3: little breakfast, maybe come over here for lunch. They got
- 31:18Speaker 3: the little salad bar, they got the lunch station.
- 31:20Speaker 2: What's your favorite thing on it? On which one? Breakfast bar?
- 31:25Speaker 3: I like the bacon I got a little usual. I
- 31:27Speaker 3: don't know what they have to day because I hadn't
- 31:28Speaker 3: been over there, because you know, Jacob left us Sylvan
- 31:32Speaker 3: prepping mid.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Nervous six o'clock. That's right. Uh, the biscuits and gravier
- 31:37Speaker 2: are good.
- 31:38Speaker 3: The other day they had like cinnamon rolls, French toast,
- 31:41Speaker 3: they had all the sweet stuff.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Bacon's are good chores. Yeah, not a bad choice, Taylor.
- 31:47Speaker 2: What about you? What's your favorite stuff? I'm a sailor's
- 31:50Speaker 2: never been over here.
- 31:51Speaker 5: Y'all are sitting up here in the breakfast bar promoting
- 31:54Speaker 5: for and you got to get there and have to try.
- 31:55Speaker 3: And I've had breakfast every single week I've been here
- 31:58Speaker 3: because I got a prep I gotta direct this show commercial.
- 32:03Speaker 2: You heard the professional today, That's right.
- 32:06Speaker 3: You heard me when I called you at six fifteen
- 32:08Speaker 3: or whatever. It was one of those panic in.
- 32:09Speaker 2: The voice I've never like, I've never heard you sound
- 32:12Speaker 2: that nervous. And I've been a.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Lot of huddles with your stressful situation stressful situations, and
- 32:17Speaker 5: that was the most nervous you've ever been in our life.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Well, you know what it's like, Taylor, Like when when
- 32:21Speaker 3: you're good at something, it's like you don't get nervous
- 32:24Speaker 3: for it. You get some butterflies, you get you get
- 32:26Speaker 3: ready for it. But like when you're not real confident
- 32:28Speaker 3: at something, the whole deal is like nervous.
- 32:31Speaker 5: You know what everybody tells you is the more you
- 32:33Speaker 5: prep so you don't have to be nervous on game day.
- 32:36Speaker 2: That's right.
- 32:36Speaker 5: You know what's going on. So what you just admitted
- 32:39Speaker 5: to everybody is this morning was changed. You are not
- 32:43Speaker 5: prepared for this.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it was the middle of the night text.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I mean, in your defense, it was it wasn't on you.
- 32:50Speaker 5: Yeah, this is our game planning when you when y'all
- 32:52Speaker 5: have known that the Hesters have been sick all week,
- 32:55Speaker 5: you know it. It's just a matter of time before
- 32:59Speaker 5: Jake got it. Yeah, this should have been a conversation
- 33:02Speaker 5: going like Jake, we know it's coming.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah. No, that was part of the ship.
- 33:05Speaker 3: That was part of the when to sign on to
- 33:06Speaker 3: do this, Like no, but you're not allowed to ever leave.
- 33:09Speaker 3: You're not allowed to be sick, you're not allowed to
- 33:11Speaker 3: go on vacation.
- 33:13Speaker 5: There was one time we were doing a postgame show
- 33:15Speaker 5: and uh, I don't know if Charlie got stuck in
- 33:18Speaker 5: traffic or what happened, but like we're five seconds before
- 33:21Speaker 5: it's starting and to do the open and I'm like,
- 33:24Speaker 5: I will walk out of this place right now.
- 33:26Speaker 2: I'm not doing it.
- 33:27Speaker 5: I think we made Musho come do it like Musa,
- 33:29Speaker 5: you were going to talk until Charlie gets here.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I can't do this. Yeah, it's uh, but it's it's
- 33:36Speaker 2: been good.
- 33:36Speaker 3: You know, we got to step up next man up situation,
- 33:39Speaker 3: I mean, and life, life comes at you real.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I told you Teaba Babyar actually prepared me for this
- 33:45Speaker 2: moment because there were times Jake got a legitimate used
- 33:48Speaker 2: to be out, like you know, they're both on vacation
- 33:51Speaker 2: at the same time. I'd get a text at eight
- 33:53Speaker 2: o'clock the night before t bubs, Oh we missed the flight.
- 33:55Speaker 2: We're actually gonna stay extra day. Yeah, okay, I'm like, well,
- 33:59Speaker 2: I mean there's a show tomorrow morning, Buds. We gotta
- 34:01Speaker 2: make something up.
- 34:01Speaker 3: But did you say there was another time where he's
- 34:03Speaker 3: just like man, I gotta gotta catch up on the sleep.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Oh dude, just everything, just everything you could think of. Oh,
- 34:10Speaker 2: thank he had you. I mean, you do it.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Damn good job.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Uh, well, what's your favorite game this weekend? I was
- 34:18Speaker 3: just kind of looking at that I was going through.
- 34:21Speaker 3: I mean as far as like the helmet matchup, Texas
- 34:24Speaker 3: going to Georgia is gonna be a good one. Oklahoma Alabama,
- 34:31Speaker 3: Like I've been talking about Oklahoma, I feel like they're
- 34:34Speaker 3: fools gold.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I feel like.
- 34:36Speaker 3: You know, they got a good defense materiars done some
- 34:39Speaker 3: things that I had the injury. Alabama's good. I don't
- 34:42Speaker 3: think they're elite, but I think they're really good at
- 34:45Speaker 3: a lot of different levels and a lot I think
- 34:46Speaker 3: ty Simpson's elite.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I think they're running game is not very good.
- 34:49Speaker 5: I don't think they're Like when I go back and
- 34:52Speaker 5: watch that game we watched the film, I think the
- 34:54Speaker 5: most frustrating thing was as bad as we played, Like
- 34:57Speaker 5: there's enough plays in there to win a game, and
- 34:59Speaker 5: we just didn't finish. And when I'm looking at that
- 35:02Speaker 5: and knowing how bad we have been offensively, I don't
- 35:05Speaker 5: really think that defense is that that great. Uh, Alabama,
- 35:08Speaker 5: I think is gonna get exposed at some point. I
- 35:10Speaker 5: think they're they're a good team, but they're not like
- 35:14Speaker 5: a team that's just gonna go dominate somebody.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, he I think that.
- 35:20Speaker 3: When I watched them, they have really Their offensive linemen
- 35:23Speaker 3: to me, is elite at pass protection. They do some
- 35:26Speaker 3: really they they have some running schemes that are really good.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Like I watched them against I think I was watching
- 35:31Speaker 3: the Vanderbilt game, and they were dominating Vanderbilt in the
- 35:35Speaker 3: running game, or at least early on running game and
- 35:37Speaker 3: the passing game. They just they got hit some penalties,
- 35:39Speaker 3: they didn't convert on some third downs, so the score
- 35:41Speaker 3: never got like crazy, but they were physically dominating the
- 35:45Speaker 3: game on offense. Now you didn't see just of course
- 35:47Speaker 3: you didn't see it in the run game against LSU,
- 35:50Speaker 3: but like ty Simpson makes four or five plays every
- 35:52Speaker 3: single game.
- 35:53Speaker 5: He was throwing diarms like that the one where PJ.
- 35:56Speaker 5: Willon had good coverage on the left side of the
- 35:58Speaker 5: tight end, Like he dropped ball to where it is uncoverable. Yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 5: a perfect throw beats in he coverage.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got his great coaching tape for quarterbacks doing
- 36:09Speaker 3: quarterback drills, quarterbacks up and coming in middle school, high school.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Ty Simpson's really good coaching tape because his movement in
- 36:15Speaker 3: the pocket, the way he dips, the way he steps up.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Everything he dips, he steps up. Then he gets his
- 36:20Speaker 3: left shoulder square. He gets his right hip to his
- 36:22Speaker 3: target every single time. That's something like if what ups
- 36:25Speaker 3: notice like comparing, and I compared this past week watching film,
- 36:28Speaker 3: was comparing nuss Meyer mechanically, not reason, just like mechanically
- 36:32Speaker 3: to Ty Simpson. What Ty Simpson does the best back hip.
- 36:35Speaker 3: That's all for all throwers, all swingers, all rotational athletes.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It's all about your back hip. So if you're right hander,
- 36:40Speaker 3: it's all about your right hip. You want that right
- 36:42Speaker 3: hip to be.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Going towards your target when you're throwing.
- 36:44Speaker 3: And Garrett's kind of good just goes laterally, this year
- 36:47Speaker 3: laterally and a little bit backwards. Ty Simpsons goes right,
- 36:51Speaker 3: right hip goes right to he He looks.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Like a robot, like he was a drone up how
- 36:56Speaker 5: to do this? Yeah, and he does it perfect every time.
- 36:58Speaker 5: The only bad play I thought he made was really
- 37:01Speaker 5: on the Perkins fumble. I mean, he's a better quarterback
- 37:04Speaker 5: than that, Like he knew there.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Was enough time.
- 37:06Speaker 5: When Perkins in front, it's get rid of it, get
- 37:08Speaker 5: rid of it, get rid of it. I think he
- 37:09Speaker 5: held onto a little bit too long. But yeah, by far,
- 37:11Speaker 5: he's been the best quarterback I've watched this year, which
- 37:14Speaker 5: was surprising. I didn't know much about him coming into
- 37:17Speaker 5: the season. I don't know did he play much last year.
- 37:20Speaker 5: I feel like he might have gotten some spot play.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Not a tongue, Oh, Taylor.
- 37:24Speaker 3: We didn't even know if he was going to be
- 37:25Speaker 3: the starter. I think people have thought they thought he.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Was, but they brought in Kielan Russell, who was the
- 37:30Speaker 2: five star freshman, and then Austin Mack came with Kaylin
- 37:34Speaker 2: de Bor from Washington, So I mean that was like
- 37:36Speaker 2: kind of his guy. He's been there for two years.
- 37:38Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, were there were people that did
- 37:40Speaker 2: not want ty Simpson to start. He's just one of
- 37:42Speaker 2: those guys who's been in the program three years. People
- 37:44Speaker 2: were like, oh, he hatn't broke it through. Now when
- 37:45Speaker 2: are you ever going through? He proved everybody wrong.
- 37:48Speaker 5: Well Julian saying didn't break through the freshman or he
- 37:50Speaker 5: could just commit diala mana. I mean you started looking
- 37:53Speaker 5: at the quarterbacks that committed over there.
- 37:54Speaker 3: Hey com to kind of to make our point about
- 37:57Speaker 3: Ty Simpson. Twenty one touchdowns, one interception.
- 38:02Speaker 5: It's pretty good. The twenty one touchdown. I don't know
- 38:04Speaker 5: is that good anymore.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I'm hard to tell that, but you could tell the ratio.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you can tell the ratio is great, less than
- 38:10Speaker 5: five percent. I think, what what? And we were talking
- 38:12Speaker 5: about this the other day, just how crazy the numbers were.
- 38:15Speaker 5: What Brow throw sixty touchdowns?
- 38:17Speaker 2: Sixty? I mean, that's.
- 38:18Speaker 5: Unreal and we're talking about it. You know, we're talking
- 38:20Speaker 5: about a Heisman front runner throwing twenty.
- 38:23Speaker 3: I know there's we we we've kind of discussed that
- 38:26Speaker 3: a little bit on the show. How there's not like
- 38:29Speaker 3: the obvious Heisman pick this year and we can kind
- 38:32Speaker 3: of go through that. Well, well, we'll talk a little
- 38:34Speaker 3: bit more about those Heisman front runners and kind of
- 38:36Speaker 3: who's leading the list. But like usually the Heisman winner
- 38:40Speaker 3: comes to you, yeah, he declares us.
- 38:44Speaker 5: It's usually November.
- 38:45Speaker 3: This year, I think Heisman voters are kind of trying
- 38:48Speaker 3: to find who it is instead of the Heisman winner
- 38:51Speaker 3: finding the voters. So it'll be an interesting. It'll be
- 38:54Speaker 3: an interesting race to see there. It'll be interesting to
- 38:56Speaker 3: see who kind of like continues to project themselves for that.
- 38:59Speaker 2: That top award.
- 39:01Speaker 3: But yeah, we'll keep talking about that, all the Heisman
- 39:02Speaker 3: front unners, We'll keep talking about all the matchups. And
- 39:05Speaker 3: I think our three, even though Jake's not here, we're
- 39:09Speaker 3: gonna still do our Of course, we're gonna do.
- 39:11Speaker 2: A Ponting party. We're gonna do it. We're gonna do
- 39:13Speaker 2: our party barge.
- 39:14Speaker 3: And then we're also gonna continue to play what's the
- 39:16Speaker 3: ticket where we like to guess rich are gonna be
- 39:18Speaker 3: part of us. We're gonna guess who the most expensive
- 39:21Speaker 3: ticket in the country is to get a seat in
- 39:23Speaker 3: college football, and who the cheapest is to get into
- 39:26Speaker 3: college football.
- 39:27Speaker 2: So we got a lot left to do.
- 39:28Speaker 3: We're gonna wrap up our number two when we come
- 39:32Speaker 3: back right.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Here on off the bench, Off the bench, all right.
- 39:39Speaker 3: It's kind of that time of year where you're getting
- 39:40Speaker 3: in the attic, you're getting in that storage unit, and
- 39:42Speaker 3: you're pulling out Christmas light, you're pulling out Christmas trees.
- 39:44Speaker 2: I was pulling out a Christmas.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Tree this past week and hurt my back I've been
- 39:48Speaker 3: on bed rest for most of the week except when
- 39:51Speaker 3: I'm doing this show.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Not a big deal, but I only.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Say that because it kind of sparks that need to
- 39:56Speaker 3: start cleaning everything out. Go to trash rangers dot com.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Give them call. They can get roll up. They have
- 40:01Speaker 3: three sizes of roll off dumpsters. If you have that
- 40:04Speaker 3: winter cleaning, a little bit of spring cleaning, a little

- 40:11Speaker 3: a call. They have the perfect size for you. And

- 40:59Speaker 1: the core. This is off the Bench with Hester and Flynn,
- 41:03Speaker 1: Matt and Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana Sports.
- 41:11Speaker 3: All Right, welcome back in off the bench here closing
- 41:15Speaker 3: out our number two, Me and our guy Richard the
- 41:19Speaker 3: Dick Dixon chilling here at Rouse's right here, Ol Burt.
- 41:23Speaker 2: We got rivers over here.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Taylor just headed back to the studio, gonna be uh
- 41:28Speaker 3: uh getting a little produced to over there. Launder's been
- 41:31Speaker 3: holding down the two jobs, killing it over there. We
- 41:33Speaker 3: appreciate everybody stepping up today, Jake, last minute. We gave
- 41:37Speaker 3: Richard the panic call this morning. So everybody, if we
- 41:41Speaker 3: do have a team, we do it.
- 41:42Speaker 2: That's the key word there. We got the team.
- 41:44Speaker 3: We step up Foxhole, everybodever is together. Yeah, guess what.
- 41:48Speaker 3: The microphone is still gonna come on a seven, no
- 41:50Speaker 3: matter what's happening.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Yeah, this microphone is a lot better. The other one
- 41:54Speaker 5: was just like it was a little floppy, little floppy.
- 41:55Speaker 5: They'll floppy. That's not good.
- 41:57Speaker 2: It's never fun.
- 41:58Speaker 5: You feel like you got a hold it the whole
- 41:59Speaker 5: time while talking. Are you going out there this weekend?
- 42:04Speaker 2: H that's a great question. I don't.
- 42:06Speaker 5: It's a perfect family game. It's eleven forty five. I know,
- 42:09Speaker 5: Like you don't have to tailgate that. Like I'm sounding
- 42:11Speaker 5: so negative. I like my state with the kids. Yeah,
- 42:14Speaker 5: Like I want to be tailgating for maybe an hour
- 42:16Speaker 5: and a half and then they're kind of.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Over it get to the game.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Yeah, And like I love like seeing the tailgates and
- 42:23Speaker 3: the families that are there there all day they have
- 42:24Speaker 3: like I just don't have that at this time, Like
- 42:26Speaker 3: I don't have the I don't go out there and
- 42:28Speaker 3: I set up a tent. That'd be fun to do.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Like we don't have the RV. I know we should, right.
- 42:32Speaker 5: Because I got a couple buddies now who's their parents
- 42:35Speaker 5: got some RVs and they don't even always go to
- 42:37Speaker 5: the game. They buy the RV parking pass or the
- 42:39Speaker 5: lot for the season, and then the RV's there every weekend.
- 42:42Speaker 5: You can go hang out, watch games and RV tailgate.
- 42:44Speaker 5: That's the way to do it. You know, they get
- 42:46Speaker 5: anything there early.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah, And so it's so we're at that point because
- 42:49Speaker 3: we don't do those things that we don't have a setup.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Then hey, the kids don't love the tailgate yet and
- 42:54Speaker 3: at this point in their life, like I don't know
- 42:56Speaker 3: when that's gonna come. Like they just don't get when
- 42:59Speaker 3: you can do our I'm oldest is ten, right, But
- 43:01Speaker 3: in my second eight and so they there's that there
- 43:04Speaker 3: in It's like there's younger kids that are out there
- 43:05Speaker 3: all day. They just don't understand at this point, like
- 43:08Speaker 3: they just don't like sit around.
- 43:10Speaker 2: And the way to do it.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Man, Like I have a beer and watch a game
- 43:13Speaker 3: and stand around. They're like, hey, why aren't we aren't
- 43:15Speaker 3: we at the stadium?
- 43:16Speaker 2: Right? Yeah? Yeah, it was.
- 43:17Speaker 5: It was never fun bringing the kids until this year.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Like I've done to a couple of tailgating events and
- 43:22Speaker 5: then left to go watch the game. And Uh, the
- 43:25Speaker 5: RV's make a big difference. The kids go out there
- 43:27Speaker 5: and they're playing a little flag football or touch football
- 43:29Speaker 5: or they're you know, playing hill Mary, then they could
- 43:31Speaker 5: run inside and get some snacks.
- 43:33Speaker 3: I get it, dude, that'd be a fantastic da. It's
- 43:35Speaker 3: just something we've never been proactive enough to go explore.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Why don't you do it? And we'll just go do
- 43:40Speaker 2: with you? Or you get the OTB always should get an.
- 43:44Speaker 5: No TV and then you'll go there and you'll have
- 43:46Speaker 5: an OTB tailgate and everybody comes up there and you'll
- 43:48Speaker 5: do like a live show on Saturday would have fun.
- 43:51Speaker 5: That's a money maker. I want a piece of it.
- 43:52Speaker 2: That's a moneymaker.
- 43:53Speaker 5: Yeah, we're gonna charge cover, No, but you're gonna sell
- 43:57Speaker 5: sponsorship and advertisement for.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 44:02Speaker 5: That'd be pretty sweet, all right, like a little Oh
- 44:05Speaker 5: we might get in troubles about like a do our
- 44:08Speaker 5: own little pregame and then was just put it for
- 44:11Speaker 5: you put it up. Yeah, it'd be fun. Okay, would
- 44:13Speaker 5: be pretty cool most it.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Well, but then you got morning games and you have
- 44:16Speaker 3: to get there, like we had two morning games this year.
- 44:20Speaker 5: I know, but it didn't. It's your deal, though, it's
- 44:22Speaker 5: your deal. It's right you do a postgame on the
- 44:24Speaker 5: morning games. It's our party. We pick it, we choose it.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Do you remember we were talking about this yesterday, Like, okay,
- 44:34Speaker 3: eleven o'clock game, we get it.
- 44:35Speaker 5: Kickoffs usually eleven to five, but eleven forty five. Don't
- 44:38Speaker 5: remember that one.
- 44:39Speaker 3: I don't remember, Like I don't remember any game every I.

- 44:48Speaker 5: which we typically did, and it was like trying to
- 44:51Speaker 5: listen to pump up music at five thirty in the morning.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, this is kinda suck.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Yeah, And they try to like keep the same routine
- 44:58Speaker 3: for like your pregame meal too, so it's like your
- 45:00Speaker 3: pregame meals at like five thirty in the morning and
- 45:02Speaker 3: they're serving fil A's.
- 45:03Speaker 5: Yeah, and like same food.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Like I don't want to term it knows that I'm
- 45:07Speaker 3: a college kid.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Love.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Yeah, any free steak you give me great, But like
- 45:11Speaker 3: I just woke up and it's like five Yeah. That
- 45:13Speaker 3: was like the one game I look back in our
- 45:15Speaker 3: career the biggest distraction game playing a early morning game
- 45:20Speaker 3: in New Orleans, and I'd say, let coach Miles is
- 45:23Speaker 3: the biggest mistake was, Oh, if your parents are there,
- 45:26Speaker 3: you can stay with your parents. Well, all of a sudden,
- 45:27Speaker 3: all of our parents were there because nobody was going
- 45:29Speaker 3: back to back New Saturday night. The whole team was
- 45:32Speaker 3: staying in New Orleans. I remember like getting there and
- 45:35Speaker 3: people like it was a distraction. Everybody had plans before
- 45:38Speaker 3: the game for the weekend, what you were doing, and
- 45:41Speaker 3: then we came out a little sloppy in the first half.
- 45:43Speaker 3: I think you got five sacked five times?
- 45:45Speaker 2: Fa yeah, I got I think I had sacked six
- 45:47Speaker 2: times in that game.
- 45:48Speaker 5: It was five and the first half and we just
- 45:50Speaker 5: played like crap, yeah, get up, and then we coming
- 45:53Speaker 5: back and we wake up and play a normal time
- 45:55Speaker 5: in the second half of.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Them with their butts.
- 45:58Speaker 5: Was that the Rise of Poenix game the Purples in Phoenix,
- 46:01Speaker 5: But it was that the first purple jersey, white helmet
- 46:04Speaker 5: game LSU's done.
- 46:06Speaker 2: It was the first one I know of.
