- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's fuck ya Friday!
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck ya!
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Get ready for some wins!
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, be a babe, how are you?
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, now that I've done one, I think I'm gonna be much more organized on this one.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's my win this week.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: My win is that I'm more organized for my flip of episodes.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm just kidding.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: This means nothing to you if you miss last week's episode.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: So, if you miss last week's episode,
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Go back to listening time.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: The wins are appropriate to listen to whenever you want.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really about really reminding us all that we're actually really fucking amazing.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing great things.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: And if we can't do that on Friday, is when can we do it, right?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, ideally every day, but let's be real.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like life is busy, there's a lot going on.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's really easy to just focus on all the ish that's out there in the world.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: And what I've come to like realize and enjoy is like,
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: I can actually go, okay, if we take what's going on in the world out, like, just put it over here.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: I can actually say I'm doing really freaking great.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: If we bring it back in, then I'm kind of me.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like in the Wellmed State, overwhelmed sometimes by all that I'm feeling, and then, like, underwhelmed, a bit about, like, people's reactions and support.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then we have to go back and do the thing.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we have to go back and do the thing.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, I'm recording this in February for March.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: My wins are really going to be fun for you.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think, hopefully you'll see like, oh, wins can happen in all places.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I got wins from you guys that I want to share.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't wait.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: But for that, we have to do something that's quite inspiring.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: What some woman did.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we back when that we all should be thankful for and no.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: So this is from her story feminism.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really like this account.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, they come up a lot.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: I have tried to get them on the show, but that is not going to happen, and that's not because they're not cool.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: They're really cool.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, did you know the woman quoted in every U.S. passport was born enslaved and most people don't even know her name.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Meet Anna Julia Cooper.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Anna Julia Cooper was born in dislavery in 1858 North Carolina.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Her mother was enslaved.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Her father was almost certainly her mother's in slavery.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: A reality, many black women endured under slavery.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: After emancipation, she earned a scholarship to St. Augustine's normal school.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: She fought to take classes reserved for men because she knew education was her way to freedom.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: In 1882, she wrote a voice from the South.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: One of the major works of black feminists thought arguing that the progress of an entire nation depends on the uplift of black women.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: Couldn't agree more.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: She became one of the first black women in U.S. history to earn a PhD.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: That was in Sorbonne, 1924.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: She spent her life educating advocating for black women in children becoming a teacher, principal and lifelong activist.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Her words,
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: A party or a class is the cause of humankind, the very birthright of humanity, that, quote, appears in every American passport today.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: The most Americans have no idea the reading the words of a formally enslaved black woman.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just curious again.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: A party or a class is the cause of humankind, the very birthright of humanity.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think that's the most beautiful thing I think we have so much work to do.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: But I think in learning history and in learning what women before us have done is really important because things can seem really heavy and big right now and you just got to keep going.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure I'm sure she had to just get like one obstacle after the next and she just kept going.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we're going to do as we beat till we see it.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, time for some wins of yours.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: So let me grab these because you guys are so cool.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: I asked for these a couple weeks ago.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: You can send them in to be a pod.com slash questions anytime.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: So the same link works for questions or when, send it in.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I want to share your win.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: You, it will come up when you need to hear it.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: I promise you, it's kind of like a great mantra or a taro card.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: It'll just come up at the right moment in here.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: So this one is from Cordelia Made to Move.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: she wrote.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: My win sumptuous mindful practice on the reformer this morning after a three week break.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Forgot some of the order but could laugh at myself rather than chastise.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Also taught my mom too and found I was so patient.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Both the above tells me I need a break mentally and how good it is for me mentally, bring on more holidays.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Next one is to see Leslie and Bruce.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're going to see each other and Bruce like in two weeks.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: See how the timing of this works.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: her daily amazing and I appreciate this because I think we have a lot of people who do apply so listen to this and there's so much judgment of every exercise that doesn't go perfectly, plus it's not meant to be perfect, it doesn't meant to be a practice.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so I love that you got to a place where you could love it yourself, I'm so happy for you, it's so, so, so great.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you Cordelia for sending your win-in.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, my win.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Are you ready for this?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna shock you.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: So my lovely win is I, well, this won't shock you at all.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: But in my effort to be part of my community in a deeper way and I also just have something else to do.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: Also, I just really, I'm trying not to adopt another dog in this moment because we're quite busy and I missed the energy of multiple dogs in this house, but the reality is it's like,
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not where our life is.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: If we, oh, you had them already, we would have them and be dealing with it and enjoying ourselves, but introducing another dog as you know is, it takes time.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: And so I've been wanting to volunteer for that and that at SPCA for a long time.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: But you have to go to the volunteer meeting, which really happens once a month, and like it's sometimes it's full and it's on a Friday and like, of course, most of the time it was on a Friday that I wasn't in town versus all the Fridays that I wasn't in town.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: So it was getting kind of frustrating, but the first Friday I could go to was in January, and so we went to that meeting, that's great.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Then I went in person to get my badge on my stuff, and then we went to the dog Walker.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: training and that is what I can say I've completed.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited because what I really want to do is just go Walk the dogs get them out as much as as they can as much as my time allows and we're approved To take dogs out on a little foster trip field trip because if you haven't noticed I'm gonna be doing some reels of dogs that are having a hard time You need an adopted I feel like
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if I adopt one dog, I could save one dog, but if I can get, if I can be part of what the NASPCA is doing to get more dogs adopted than like my goodness, I feel like that will hopefully scratch the edge of me having other dog and if there's one I fall in love with, well then that's what's going to happen.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: But my, my old, my old, my goal is like, this is for this year.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is really participate in helping get these dogs, a loving home that has the SPCA is really great.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: They don't take any government funding.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to donate to somebody who's taking care of dogs and a great amazing way, I really love them.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Also your local SPCA, go check it out, go tour the facility.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: Go see if they need help.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: The local ones actually need your help more than the big one.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it goes a long way.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be see actually donates to the Nevada SPCA every quarter.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I have some exciting things that I want to do with them this year, just been on time.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just really proud of myself because I wanted to volunteer.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: And then I wanted to do it in a way that I could participate in a way that build my soul, but also help them out.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just want to say that's my win.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's my win this week.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: It took me about eight months to get my schedule to do it.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: But you know what, you just have to keep going.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing I think people don't
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Realize right with a goal or thing that they want to do they get to an obstacle like truly I saw all the different Volunteer meetings.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: I just couldn't go and I instead of like this is never going to work I should just do something else where I'll just give more money.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's like no, I'm just going to keep checking the dates until I can go and We all want things to happen sooner than then they are happening But they won't ever happen if you just if you stop so that's that right all right my loves now for your mantra
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: What are you drawing up today?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: Here it is.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: I trust my instincts completely.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: I trust my instincts completely.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I trust my instincts completely.

- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: You're amazing.

- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I never have done.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't done.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have to do a form all thing on this.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: We are celebrating.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: We are the last time I checked.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: We were in the top 1% of all podcasts.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's because of you.

- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Couldn't do that without you.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Literally every download.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Every download helps.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Every review helps.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Every time we show with a friend helps.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: So please keep doing it because it allows.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: As the show gets bigger, it's going to allow us to get bigger guests.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like I've had some great recommendations for guests from you guys.
