- 0:30Speaker 6: What say, togain true down the bottom of the league
- 0:32Speaker 6: against pressure, but also up near the top of the
- 0:35Speaker 6: league and turnover where he plays in a good way.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 0:38Speaker 4: I thought you're going with some positive deve portnoy.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I loved him. Yeah, on board, Yeah, he's on board.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Yeah, but this type of inspect to win him over.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Mike and d Oc. I love to get the panels
- 0:50Speaker 3: grades of the Patriots. Well, I give it an egg.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Imagine it with just a sick visor though, like would
- 0:57Speaker 3: go hard. That's that's what they say. That would be fire,
- 1:02Speaker 3: that goes hard. That word from Nelson to your your
- 1:05Speaker 3: rolodex stripping Paul Tripp before you were even born.
- 1:08Speaker 5: He's not lying.
- 1:09Speaker 3: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for

- 1:27Speaker 3: This is opening week, Week one Raiders on Sunday. We

- 1:56Speaker 5: A matter of fan man.
- 1:58Speaker 3: We have a new song, Matt, I don't know you had.

- 2:07Speaker 7: Hey it's a Brando hope you season don't look it up.
- 2:12Speaker 7: But pauls pretty slim. We haven't tied the Knockduce gott
- 2:16Speaker 7: a dug. It's trying to find someone to mowys nod
- 2:20Speaker 7: and Alex is just reading the stars. Alex is just
- 2:25Speaker 7: reading the stars.
- 2:27Speaker 2: We've got a.
- 2:28Speaker 8: New house for pretty and post game shows, bets in
- 2:31Speaker 8: the booth making everything.
- 2:34Speaker 7: We're all pretty stoked about Fable and mag.
- 2:37Speaker 2: And everybody still hating no Christian.
- 2:40Speaker 9: Hey, it's a brand. Hope you season the pass. We
- 2:44Speaker 9: have us something to believe that.
- 2:47Speaker 2: We're already for three shows the week. It's been too long.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And I hope I get a T shirt for writing
- 2:52Speaker 2: this song.
- 2:54Speaker 3: All right, very well done, what a way to kick
- 2:58Speaker 3: it off.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Very well.
- 2:59Speaker 4: I was seeing a music video, you know where there's
- 3:01Speaker 4: like a lot of like you turn to the camera
- 3:03Speaker 4: and smile, you know, like Paul Perilla, right and Evan
- 3:07Speaker 4: Lazar and introducing flipping it to each other.
- 3:11Speaker 10: Right, she never disappointed?
- 3:16Speaker 5: Good stuff, Alex is uh, looking at.
- 3:20Speaker 11: That?
- 3:20Speaker 10: Seems so Matt.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I do think we need to send her a T shirt, Absolutely,
- 3:25Speaker 3: no doubt about it. You contribute that.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Way, she can get that by the end of the season.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Earn yourself effort please. All right, Well, anyway, it's Evan,
- 3:33Speaker 3: it's it's me, it's Matt and the booth, and we're
- 3:37Speaker 3: talking Patriots. Any news that we want to get out
- 3:41Speaker 3: of the way other than you went to see going
- 3:44Speaker 3: down last week last night.
- 3:46Speaker 5: I mean, there's some Patriots news that we haven't discussed
- 3:49Speaker 5: on our.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Shows right quite a bit. Let's get right into.
- 3:52Speaker 5: A significant transaction. I would say, late last week brill Peppers. Yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 5: it seems like forever ago. It was Friday, Friday, Yeah, Friday,
- 4:00Speaker 5: but we haven't had a show since then. Surprise. I
- 4:03Speaker 5: thought it was a surprising transaction.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I was surprised. I mean, listen, as of last week,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I thought he might be a captain.
- 4:08Speaker 5: So you did say, yeah, I kind of. I've been
- 4:12Speaker 5: nice about it, and I haven't. I haven't mocked because
- 4:14Speaker 5: I was surprised by it too. I don't want to
- 4:16Speaker 5: be a fraud.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I think sometimes you can get blinded by guys who
- 4:19Speaker 4: talk like captains and talk like they're speaking for the
- 4:22Speaker 4: team before you've really settled the team. And this summer,
- 4:25Speaker 4: Gibil Peppers, that's just how he talks like he leader.
- 4:28Speaker 4: He's been around for a while, he's more a veteran.
- 4:30Speaker 4: All summer long, when he talked, it was always you know,
- 4:32Speaker 4: what we got to do and how we got to play,
- 4:34Speaker 4: And it seemed like he was getting back on track.
- 4:37Speaker 4: And then, you know, I said before in Minnesota, it
- 4:39Speaker 4: seemed like things kind of went sideways a little bit.
- 4:41Speaker 4: He got picked on a little bit in the first
- 4:43Speaker 4: joint practice, went up and defended a pass. I think
- 4:46Speaker 4: that's why he didn't play in the second practice or
- 4:48Speaker 4: the game, played a lot in that fourth or third
- 4:50Speaker 4: preseason game. But I'm still surprised even though we saw
- 4:53Speaker 4: his role reduced. I think he's a fiery guy, has
- 4:56Speaker 4: that personality you thought might match well with Mike Brabel.
- 4:59Speaker 4: But you know, now we're all trying to figure out
- 5:01Speaker 4: what exactly, why exactly?
- 5:04Speaker 3: You know, and and I think you know he at
- 5:07Speaker 3: least from his tweet Pepper's, he thinks it was because
- 5:11Speaker 3: of scheme. For some reason. Vrabel said, well, it's not scheme.
- 5:16Speaker 3: We want a lot of players who are versatile, and so,
- 5:19Speaker 3: you know. But to me, it's it's a combination of Yes,
- 5:25Speaker 3: this I didn't want to call it the scheme, but
- 5:27Speaker 3: the way they're going to play defense, for the most part,
- 5:31Speaker 3: is different in the past. You know, they don't need
- 5:35Speaker 3: the in the box safety as on all three downs
- 5:38Speaker 3: as they did in the past. They've got two guys
- 5:41Speaker 3: that fit that description who make decent money. They probably
- 5:46Speaker 3: only need one. They tried to trade Duggers that didn't happen.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So now you've still got two. You have to decide
- 5:55Speaker 3: which one are we going to keep? And they I
- 5:59Speaker 3: think they decided Douggers. Obviously, that's what if my theory
- 6:03Speaker 3: is true, that's what that's what they decided on.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I mean, I even question that a little bit because
- 6:08Speaker 4: Douger's wearing a scout team number in yesterday's practice. So
- 6:12Speaker 4: if you want to tell me that we're going to
- 6:14Speaker 4: get into the game and Dougger's going to play fifteen
- 6:17Speaker 4: to twenty twenty, you know, a small defensive role, but
- 6:19Speaker 4: has a defensive role, then maybe I could see that.
- 6:22Speaker 3: But that's what I think.
- 6:23Speaker 4: My feeling is, Douger ain't really gonna play well.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I think I think that the type of safety that
- 6:29Speaker 3: those two guys represent has been reduced to a situational
- 6:33Speaker 3: role on this Tim Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I mean, I'd love to get Evan's thoughts on this
- 6:35Speaker 4: because I knew we're going to talk about it today
- 6:36Speaker 4: and I was just you know, thinking, and maybe this
- 6:39Speaker 4: is too much of a generalization, but would you say
- 6:41Speaker 4: that kind of the in the box safety kind of
- 6:44Speaker 4: define what Bill Belichick's defense was like? That was you
- 6:47Speaker 4: wanted Patrick Chung making the tackles, you know, he was
- 6:50Speaker 4: the key piece.
- 6:51Speaker 5: You hope that Kyle Dugger was.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Gonna they couldn't get enough of those guys they're drafting
- 6:55Speaker 4: Marty Maphu when they've already you know. Now, meanwhile, the
- 6:58Speaker 4: rest of the league is all going to cover two
- 7:00Speaker 4: and playing too deep shell and that style of defense.
- 7:03Speaker 4: So you know, I know there's a baseline talent that
- 7:06Speaker 4: you look at Jabrill Peppers and he seems talented. But
- 7:08Speaker 4: I do see that they're getting away from They want
- 7:11Speaker 4: their linebackers to make the place. Now, those are what's
- 7:13Speaker 4: going to define this team' Roberts playing haveing one hundred
- 7:15Speaker 4: and fifty tackles.
- 7:16Speaker 3: We talked about the front being more aggressive than it has,
- 7:20Speaker 3: you know, not so much space eaters, but guys that
- 7:22Speaker 3: are going to get upfield. When that happens, if you
- 7:25Speaker 3: don't get there, you leave yourself vulnerable. So you have
- 7:28Speaker 3: to have that back end safety net, you know, hence
- 7:31Speaker 3: the word safety more so than I think in the
- 7:34Speaker 3: past perhaps, And so they need that other person back
- 7:40Speaker 3: there who can to a certain degree cover a little
- 7:44Speaker 3: bit at least keep the play in front of them.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I think that's all part of it. And then I
- 7:51Speaker 3: think money does have something to do with it. I
- 7:53Speaker 3: think both Peppers and Dougglers are making decent money and
- 7:58Speaker 3: they felt like we could, you know, use elsewhere. Now.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I don't think it should be a factor because the
- 8:03Speaker 3: money's already spent. It's not like huge money. They're well
- 8:07Speaker 3: under the cap. It's not like they have that's even
- 8:09Speaker 3: a factor. But I really do think it's like we've
- 8:13Speaker 3: got we don't need both of these guys.
- 8:16Speaker 10: Yeah, that's where I'm at with it.
- 8:18Speaker 6: I think they had two guys that they saw as redundant,
- 8:21Speaker 6: and even going back to the spring, there was signs
- 8:24Speaker 6: that they saw the two of them as redundant where
- 8:26Speaker 6: they were trying to put Hawkins next to one of them,
- 8:29Speaker 6: and then Craig Woodson starts to make a push and
- 8:30Speaker 6: he's next to the Dugger Peppers, and they're they're trying
- 8:33Speaker 6: to find the right combination back there of having more
- 8:38Speaker 6: of a true strong and free safety and not having
- 8:41Speaker 6: two guys that both really belong closer to the line
- 8:44Speaker 6: of scrimmage. So that started happening. I would say May
- 8:48Speaker 6: and June like, that's not a new development. And then
- 8:52Speaker 6: I also think you have to look at the angle
- 8:54Speaker 6: of well, if we have Dugger and Peppers both here
- 8:59Speaker 6: and both of them really are aren't playing, and one
- 9:01Speaker 6: of them really isn't playing, then what does that do
- 9:04Speaker 6: in the locker room and the whole hierarchy of the
- 9:06Speaker 6: locker room and that whole thing. I do think that
- 9:09Speaker 6: they care, especially and you're one of this entire regime,
- 9:12Speaker 6: that that's a big factor and all of this as well,
- 9:16Speaker 6: even though verybel kind of downplayed it along amongst other
- 9:19Speaker 6: things with the scheme and the fact that all the
- 9:22Speaker 6: captains from last year are now gone.
- 9:24Speaker 10: He downplayed all those things.
- 9:25Speaker 6: But if you have Jabriel Peppers as a fourth string safety,
- 9:29Speaker 6: this guy is getting paid pretty well, has been a
- 9:32Speaker 6: captain on this team before, is a voice in the
- 9:35Speaker 6: locker room, is a fan favorite, like all these different things.
- 9:39Speaker 6: It's hard to have that person in your locker room
- 9:42Speaker 6: and still have the right sort of message get across
- 9:46Speaker 6: of we're all pulling in the same direction and we
- 9:48Speaker 6: all are on board with winning and all that kind
- 9:51Speaker 6: of thing. So with those two guys, I think they
- 9:54Speaker 6: decided they only needed one of them, and it was
- 9:56Speaker 6: easier to cut Peppers than it was to cut Dugger
- 9:59Speaker 6: from a financial sandpoint, so they ended up deciding to
- 10:02Speaker 6: cut Peppers.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I just think Rabel's really done a lot of
- 10:08Speaker 5: work over the last few months just trying to get
- 10:12Speaker 5: past the previous regime, and he's moving on with his
- 10:15Speaker 5: own guys, and I think this is just a continuation
- 10:18Speaker 5: of that.
- 10:18Speaker 3: So may on the chopping block, no oh, because he's
- 10:22Speaker 3: the previous regime.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Okay, as long as we're going to take it seriously,
- 10:27Speaker 5: well I.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Am, I mean like like, I think you're right.
- 10:30Speaker 5: I think there's certain In my view, there are maybe
- 10:33Speaker 5: three more guys that fall into that category that is
- 10:38Speaker 5: still here, Keon White, who's falling down the depth chart,
- 10:42Speaker 5: and Wild Dager who's falling down the depth chart. And
- 10:44Speaker 5: Micah wyn who who's not falling down the depth chart
- 10:47Speaker 5: but makes a lot of money. And I like to
- 10:50Speaker 5: use my I wouldn't buy green bananas if I were
- 10:52Speaker 5: Mike Michael Win who I think he'll be here next year.
- 10:55Speaker 5: I think this year he probably has to be. But
- 10:58Speaker 5: I think that they're trying to overhaul the roster with
- 11:02Speaker 5: guys that he wants. And I don't think there's anything
- 11:04Speaker 5: wrong with that. I think that's a very common tact
- 11:07Speaker 5: for a new coach coming in. Culture is important, style
- 11:11Speaker 5: of play is important. I'll take everybody's word for it
- 11:14Speaker 5: that this is a style of play thing. But I
- 11:17Speaker 5: think it's more about the individuals that were here that
- 11:23Speaker 5: have some money. He's looking to get past, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 5: a little bit older, probably not going to be part
- 11:27Speaker 5: of the new that, you know, the next title contending
- 11:30Speaker 5: Patriots team. So move on earlier and get your guys.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Yeah, but do you think he would have done that earlier?
- 11:38Speaker 5: I told you I was surprised by the transaction. I
- 11:41Speaker 5: don't think it's I was surprised.
- 11:44Speaker 4: It's also I don't know that Jalen Hawkins is his guy.
- 11:48Speaker 5: He could be next.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Well.
- 11:49Speaker 10: I just like to be consistent.
- 11:52Speaker 6: I thought they were a year away from doing these
- 11:54Speaker 6: types of things because of the roster talent and the
- 11:56Speaker 6: depth that they have on this team. Like, if you
- 11:58Speaker 6: told me that they were going to move on from
- 12:00Speaker 6: the guys Paul's listing out, I'd throw Anthony Jennings, Jolani
- 12:04Speaker 6: Tavai in that.
- 12:05Speaker 10: List as well. If they were to do that in
- 12:09Speaker 10: twenty twenty six.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Straight deadline last year.
- 12:17Speaker 6: That's a great friend of m right there, Brady too,
- 12:23Speaker 6: that makes sense if they had done that next offseason
- 12:27Speaker 6: in twenty twenty six, because they were bringing in all
- 12:31Speaker 6: their own guys. Where they were signing another safety that
- 12:33Speaker 6: they liked a little bit better. They were drafting, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 6: guys early in the draft to replace those players. I
- 12:39Speaker 6: would have said, okay, that that makes sense. But now
- 12:42Speaker 6: you start stripping away some of the veteran depth that
- 12:45Speaker 6: you do have on the roster by cutting a player
- 12:48Speaker 6: in Jabriel Peppers that might not be exactly a stylistic fit,
- 12:52Speaker 6: but as an NFL player and is.
- 12:54Speaker 10: A starter in this league.
- 12:55Speaker 6: And so now what happens even if you assume that
- 12:58Speaker 6: Craig Woodson and Jalen Hawkins are good, what happens if
- 13:01Speaker 6: one of them gets hurt?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Right?
- 13:03Speaker 6: What happens if you have multiple injuries at safety? Now
- 13:06Speaker 6: we're back into a position where it's guys that are
- 13:10Speaker 6: fringe practice squad you know, for a type players.
- 13:13Speaker 10: Right, I didn't want to name names, but the.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Next guy death.
- 13:16Speaker 5: So I even wonder if maybe they're trying to bake
- 13:19Speaker 5: in some versatility with a guy like Alex Austin, who
- 13:22Speaker 5: we've seen play in the slaughter a little bit outside.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Marcus Jones, same kind of deal. Marcus Jones is another item.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Of Captain's news. We'll talk about that in a minute.
- 13:33Speaker 5: You know that they named the captains. Marcus Jones was
- 13:35Speaker 5: I think most people felt a surprising choice.
- 13:38Speaker 3: He was surprised, he said, he was. We'll get into
- 13:40Speaker 3: the captains. But back to this subject. I was listening
- 13:44Speaker 3: to vrabel on EEI this morning and they were talking about,
- 13:48Speaker 3: you know. Wiggy asked him, were you in on, uh
- 13:51Speaker 3: the micro parts Michael Parsons thing, and he said, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 3: not really. We didn't really spend a lot of time
- 13:56Speaker 3: thinking about it, and then he got into you know,
- 13:58Speaker 3: their depth. I disagree with him there though, because when
- 14:02Speaker 3: you bring in a guy like Michaeh Parsons, he pushes
- 14:04Speaker 3: other guys down to make your depth better.
- 14:07Speaker 10: I think he's talking about the two first round picks.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Correct the future.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I actually liked his answers.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Okay, fair enough, I'm going to take his.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Answer at face value, and I'm gonna I kind of
- 14:18Speaker 5: thought it was refreshing that a coach would actually answer
- 14:21Speaker 5: it kind of honestly, like we're not really ready for
- 14:25Speaker 5: that yet. Yeah, we're not far enough along. We need
- 14:27Speaker 5: those through first round picks, because, as Evan said, that's
- 14:30Speaker 5: how you get depth by players.
- 14:33Speaker 6: But it then to me like it's a little contradictory though,
- 14:36Speaker 6: so because you're saying you need this depth, but then
- 14:38Speaker 6: you're also cutting jubil Peppers.
- 14:40Speaker 10: But so it's like.
- 14:41Speaker 5: He doesn't look at it in with his eighth year
- 14:43Speaker 5: for Pepper. Yeah, I don't think he looks at an
- 14:46Speaker 5: eight year guy as the future depth. I can make
- 14:48Speaker 5: an argue. You guys know, we talked about this a
- 14:50Speaker 5: little off air, so you guys know, I can make
- 14:52Speaker 5: an argument the other way if you need me to.
- 14:53Speaker 5: But I'm trying. I'm trying. Yeah, I'm trying to be
- 14:57Speaker 5: open minded about it. He probably looks at it is like, yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 5: he's a little older, he makes a little money. Uh,
- 15:03Speaker 5: probably not going to be around much longer.
- 15:06Speaker 3: But to deuce his question, but if them long to
- 15:10Speaker 3: do this, I think they were trying to move I agree.
- 15:12Speaker 6: I think they were trying to trade him one of
- 15:15Speaker 6: him were Dugger, right, and then it didn't happen. And
- 15:17Speaker 6: then I think they decided really early on in spring
- 15:21Speaker 6: practices that they weren't going to play Dugger and Peppers
- 15:24Speaker 6: together like that, that whole idea of playing the two
- 15:26Speaker 6: of them together, they never seem sold on it. So
- 15:29Speaker 6: it immediately went to all right, it's one spot for
- 15:33Speaker 6: one of those guys maybe, and then it phased out
- 15:37Speaker 6: even more to now we really think that this is
- 15:39Speaker 6: like a third safety role instead of a starting safety role.
- 15:43Speaker 6: You know, they want the safeties to cover that. That's
- 15:46Speaker 6: the number one thing. I don't think they want their
- 15:48Speaker 6: safeties to deuce his point earlier, making the tackles near
- 15:52Speaker 6: the line of scrimmage and making the splash plays on
- 15:54Speaker 6: the ball. They want their safeties to GTFB like that.
- 15:58Speaker 6: That's that's really what this is about.
- 16:00Speaker 10: Out.
- 16:00Speaker 6: They want them to cover the deep part of the field.
- 16:02Speaker 6: They want them to cover man to man sometimes, and
- 16:05Speaker 6: they don't want as much of playmaking box safeties. And
- 16:10Speaker 6: I think that that's you know, he was asked yesterday
- 16:12Speaker 6: too about Woodson, and he immediately went to range and
- 16:15Speaker 6: athleticism and that type of stuff. Then he was asked
- 16:18Speaker 6: about them playing more quarters, and he agreed with this,
- 16:22Speaker 6: the notion that they were going to be playing more
- 16:24Speaker 6: quarters and more cover four defense. So they want the
- 16:27Speaker 6: safeties to be over the top. They want them to
- 16:30Speaker 6: be you know, rangey and be able to cover ground
- 16:33Speaker 6: and keep the top on the defense. And that's not
- 16:36Speaker 6: what either one of those guys is suited to do.
- 16:39Speaker 6: It's not a strong suit for either one of those players,
- 16:41Speaker 6: so that role reductions and here we are, okay.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah, to me, it was because it seemed like they
- 16:47Speaker 4: were moving Peppers around a little bit trying to figure out,
- 16:49Speaker 4: like what can we do with him? And I think
- 16:51Speaker 4: the last place we kind of saw was like in
- 16:52Speaker 4: the slot with the second team, And I mean I
- 16:55Speaker 4: went back to my notes from that first Minnesota practice
- 16:57Speaker 4: where you know, it was twice on him and cover
- 17:00Speaker 4: John Hawkinson where he's covering the tight end and can't
- 17:02Speaker 4: quite keep up with him, and you know, I just
- 17:04Speaker 4: wonder if if they were trying to feel it out
- 17:06Speaker 4: and see if there is a role for him that
- 17:08Speaker 4: we can include into our scheme and maybe use in
- 17:11Speaker 4: certain subpackages.
- 17:12Speaker 3: But I think the.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Overall body work over the summer it felt a little
- 17:17Speaker 4: to me like trying to figure it out with him,
- 17:19Speaker 4: moving them around, trying to figure out what he can do.
- 17:21Speaker 4: And ultimately maybe in Minnesota when they saw those a
- 17:23Speaker 4: couple of days that because that's really to me, when
- 17:25Speaker 4: it really started to go downhill. Nothing against like the injury,
- 17:29Speaker 4: which was unfortunate, but I mean, I don't even know
- 17:31Speaker 4: if that's the case.
- 17:32Speaker 10: Yeah, like I wouldn't have done this.
- 17:33Speaker 6: But at the same time, for multiple years we've talked
- 17:37Speaker 6: about Pepper's and Dugger not being great.
- 17:39Speaker 10: In coverage, whether it's man to man or zone.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Like, they are known to be guys that are, you know,
- 17:46Speaker 6: below average coverage players for their position. So if past
- 17:50Speaker 6: defense and being able to cover is the number one
- 17:53Speaker 6: priority at safety, then those are not going to be
- 17:56Speaker 6: your types of guys.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Okay, all right, So Paul, you mentioned captains. They announced
- 18:01Speaker 3: six of those yesterday and if you missed it, we
- 18:04Speaker 3: actually had Mike Rabel uh telling the team before practice yesterday.
- 18:09Speaker 3: We had a cameras in the huddle. That was pretty cool.
- 18:13Speaker 3: But uh, why don't we list off who those captains are?
- 18:17Speaker 6: Drake May, Hunter, Henry Roberts, Bulaine, Marcus Jones, Uh, Harold
- 18:24Speaker 6: Landry Brennan Schooler.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and the game captain too, which I didn't I
- 18:28Speaker 4: didn't realize until the video is that. Yeah, that was
- 18:30Speaker 4: called Chaseng will be a game Sin.
- 18:33Speaker 10: So I assume that's going to rotate.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Yeah, because normally Rabel named seven captains in Tennessee. So
- 18:39Speaker 6: when they he did six, I guess that's a rotating spot.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so he mentioned, you know, Chase On played with
- 18:45Speaker 3: the Raiders, so kind of a logical choice to be
- 18:48Speaker 3: the game captain.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Blaine too, I mean they were, yeah, both those guys.
- 18:51Speaker 3: But he's a permanent captain.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's a serious guy. Well, all those guys
- 18:55Speaker 4: talked in the locker room, mystery except Drake cool talk.
- 18:57Speaker 4: I think what Thursday, I think to the media tomorrow, Marow.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Let's just hope that these captains have a better help
- 19:04Speaker 3: record than last year.
- 19:05Speaker 5: Man, Yeah, because if these.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Captains go down, it's going to be pretty rough.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Marcus Jones is a captain. You mentioned mild surprise. I
- 19:12Speaker 3: thought it was yeah, yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I not you guys were in the locker room yesterday, Yeah,
- 19:17Speaker 5: you said he expressed, Yeah, he said he.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Was even surprised a little bit. You know, talked about
- 19:22Speaker 4: the leadership of Devin mccordy and Matthew Slater is two
- 19:25Speaker 4: guys that he hopes to model his leadership off of. Ribble,
- 19:29Speaker 4: just had a meeting with them, coming to the locker room,
- 19:31Speaker 4: just kind of congratulating those guys. But yeah, I was
- 19:33Speaker 4: definitely surprised about Marcus Jones and it's certainly a guy
- 19:36Speaker 4: who's going to be in a contract year. He's also
- 19:40Speaker 4: in this new scheme. How does he fit into everything?
- 19:42Speaker 4: I think there's always kind of a use for him,
- 19:43Speaker 4: especially this week with some of these little fast guys
- 19:45Speaker 4: that they have Trey Turner, you know, on the outside.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Maybe there's a use for for Marcus Jones. We're starting
- 19:50Speaker 4: to play the matchups.
- 19:50Speaker 3: A little bit. Yeah. Other news, Forge and Foxboro episode
- 19:55Speaker 3: three dropped over the weekend, so if you haven't seen
- 19:59Speaker 3: it over ready, there's some pretty cool stuff. Some exclusive
- 20:03Speaker 3: footage of that fight back in the first joint practice.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Mike Rabel got some I never I didn't even know
- 20:11Speaker 3: we had that angle of him jumping into the dog pile.
- 20:14Speaker 3: So that was good. Chisholm being told he made the team.
- 20:18Speaker 10: Things like that, So that was Paul's highlight.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah, unprecedented access Forge of Foxbrow episode three on YouTube.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Go check it out. Perfect viewing to get you ready
- 20:30Speaker 3: for this Raiders game on Sunday.
- 20:33Speaker 10: This is my favorite one out of the three.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 6: I thought this one had the most original footage, like
- 20:41Speaker 6: footage that I had never seen before, which was really
- 20:45Speaker 6: cool and I love like it had the hard Knocks
- 20:49Speaker 6: feels with like Chism and Elijah Ponder making the team.
- 20:53Speaker 10: I was really I was into this one was a
- 20:56Speaker 10: good one, good stuff.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I was too.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I just I watched it while I was the Kate
- 21:00Speaker 4: this weekend, and it's just remarkable that it's like a
- 21:03Speaker 4: full on Hard Knocks episode, you know, like like that's
- 21:05Speaker 4: always like what the standard was for the summer and
- 21:08Speaker 4: now teams and we're not the only ones doing it either,
- 21:10Speaker 4: but you know, teams are able to just produce produce
- 21:12Speaker 4: his content. I think it's great for the fans. Love
- 21:14Speaker 4: getting to see behind the scenes Jim Whalen, you know,
- 21:17Speaker 4: highlighting all the medical advances that we have here and
- 21:22Speaker 4: not only Foxboro but obviously in Boston as well. So
- 21:24Speaker 4: I thought that was a good angle.
- 21:25Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever heard.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Jim Whalen actually speak before. This is one of the
- 21:28Speaker 4: first times that really.
- 21:29Speaker 3: It's funny because like I when I listened to Jim
- 21:32Speaker 3: whale and talk, I detected Bill Belichick when he said,
- 21:35Speaker 3: you know, by two thirty, we can we can know
- 21:38Speaker 3: what you know, Like that's I could hear that coming
- 21:40Speaker 3: out of Bill's Bill's mouth, you know, middle you know,
- 21:44Speaker 3: you work with a guy for all that time, you're
- 21:46Speaker 3: going to pick up on things.
- 21:49Speaker 10: Jim's a really nice guy. You've talk before, We've talked
- 21:52Speaker 10: to him injured, We've talked to him at the coured.
- 21:56Speaker 3: No, I didn't talk.
- 21:57Speaker 10: To in the air.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I don't get the oh he was there. I don't
- 22:01Speaker 4: think it was to me.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You're still get a pretzel.
- 22:05Speaker 10: Nice guy, yes, really nice guy.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 6: I always like seeing him on the plane back from
- 22:10Speaker 6: the combine. Combine, but he's he's in first class and
- 22:13Speaker 6: I'm you know, going back.
- 22:14Speaker 5: There, sage.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it's such an interesting job to me, Like if
- 22:18Speaker 4: you're just not that you're waiting for guys to get hurt.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I know there's elements of rehab and stuff, but it's
- 22:23Speaker 4: just got to be hard to Like a normal doctor
- 22:25Speaker 4: has a bunch of patients and sometimes people come in
- 22:27Speaker 4: and get sick and get hurt whatever, but like he
- 22:29Speaker 4: has like he's like a shepherd for like fifty three
- 22:31Speaker 4: dudes or even I mean more I guess, you know,
- 22:33Speaker 4: sixty five dudes, whatever it might be, And at any moment,
- 22:36Speaker 4: one of these guys could have a major injury, and
- 22:38Speaker 4: he knows he's going to be there and have to
- 22:39Speaker 4: take care of these guys. Just such a unique position,
- 22:42Speaker 4: especially for how long has he done it.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I mean he's been here forever, right, yeah, one time.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 6: I think it's cool to see too, Like the all
- 22:48Speaker 6: the preventative care that goes in, like the taping and
- 22:52Speaker 6: like all that stuff that goes into try to to
- 22:56Speaker 6: get them even ready for practice. The amount of guys
- 22:59Speaker 6: like going to that tape to get then they're.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Just there, go to the moon and back, Paul, the
- 23:07Speaker 3: amount of tape that they the offensive.
- 23:09Speaker 6: I'm always tape their hands right like, So it's just
- 23:12Speaker 6: all that stuff goes on before they even hit the
- 23:14Speaker 6: practice bags.
- 23:15Speaker 4: A lot of ice bags, a lot of ice ice machines.
- 23:20Speaker 3: All right, what else? So we got what else? Pepper's
- 23:24Speaker 3: We've got Captain.
- 23:26Speaker 4: A couple of things for I just to throw out there.
- 23:28Speaker 4: A couple of interesting nuggets from from Ural Peldus. I
- 23:31Speaker 4: just thought it was interesting. They've they've added three defensive linemen,
- 23:35Speaker 4: two pactor squad guys Fabian love At, Corey Durden and
- 23:38Speaker 4: as well as Eric Gregory who's a rookie a little
- 23:40Speaker 4: bit bigger guy as well as yesterday, added Brendan James,
- 23:44Speaker 4: the centers silent Jay I like that, but those to
- 23:51Speaker 4: me indicate maybe some positions where they feel like they
- 23:55Speaker 4: need a little more. I had said last show, Oh,
- 23:57Speaker 4: it's interesting they've kept all these undrafted guys that they
- 24:01Speaker 4: have and those a lot of those guys are gone
- 24:02Speaker 4: now they're down to, you know, two guys they drafted
- 24:05Speaker 4: and four guys that were undrafted rookies, and otherwise they
- 24:08Speaker 4: brought in a bunch of veterans. So I just wonder,
- 24:10Speaker 4: if you know Himus or you know this guy Eric
- 24:13Speaker 4: Gregory who's got a little more size, and we talked
- 24:15Speaker 4: about some of the run defense stuff, if maybe some
- 24:17Speaker 4: of these guys are more like their guys or you know,
- 24:21Speaker 4: it's just it's adding some depth you might not expect,
- 24:22Speaker 4: and suddenly we might get into the game of people
- 24:24Speaker 4: are gonna who's fifty five on the defensive line and
- 24:26Speaker 4: this guy this will?
- 24:27Speaker 3: You know?
- 24:28Speaker 6: Yeah, play there's the practice squad's had significant turnover already.
- 24:33Speaker 6: I mean, I can't remember them having this much practice
- 24:37Speaker 6: squad turnover. They basically flipped half the practice squad at
- 24:40Speaker 6: this point from what it started.
- 24:41Speaker 5: For they played a game. Yeah, it's interesting.
- 24:43Speaker 10: It's a significant amount.
- 24:44Speaker 6: And obviously you don't know when guys are going to
- 24:46Speaker 6: become available and from other teams and things like that.
- 24:49Speaker 6: But Gregory is an interesting player like their typical you know,
- 24:53Speaker 6: one technique, shaded nose tackle, can control gaps, can penetrate
- 24:57Speaker 6: the line on stunts and things like that. He has
- 25:00Speaker 6: good tape in the preseason, and I know the Bengals
- 25:02Speaker 6: fans did not want to see him get poached when
- 25:04Speaker 6: they cut him, so they were all pretty disappointed that
- 25:07Speaker 6: he got claimed by the Patriots. And Rabel said yesterday
- 25:11Speaker 6: that they had a draftable grade on him in the
- 25:13Speaker 6: draft and we're competing with Cincinnati and undrafted free agency
- 25:17Speaker 6: for him, and they lost out an undrafted free agency,
- 25:20Speaker 6: so they maybe not a throwaway, you know, as Duce
- 25:24Speaker 6: kind of laid out. I think that that could be
- 25:26Speaker 6: somebody that sticks around.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 4: I throw Mark Robinson in there, who Pittsburgh fans were
- 25:30Speaker 4: kind of a little bit bummed out to see just
- 25:32Speaker 4: you know, a guy they had since twenty twenty two.
- 25:34Speaker 4: A lot of special teams for them. So some of
- 25:36Speaker 4: these veterans are coming in. I think they might end
- 25:38Speaker 4: up on the game day roster, maybe having a role
- 25:40Speaker 4: that It's always weird when you spend all off season
- 25:42Speaker 4: watching the same group of guys and the all through
- 25:44Speaker 4: training camp, and then all of a sudden, Week one,
- 25:45Speaker 4: there's like a guy I've never even seen it.
- 25:47Speaker 5: And I know when they make the original fifty three
- 25:49Speaker 5: that it's always in flux, but I've been a little
- 25:52Speaker 5: surprised with just how much influx the whole thing, you know,
- 25:55Speaker 5: even the sixty nine, you know, like Evan pointed out,
- 26:00Speaker 5: with the practice squad and just the amount of change
- 26:03Speaker 5: before they've even played a game. It has been a
- 26:05Speaker 5: little bit surprising.
- 26:07Speaker 3: All right. So we're going to get into the game
- 26:09Speaker 3: and you have the depth chart in front of you.
- 26:11Speaker 10: Uh oh, this one's filled out.
- 26:15Speaker 4: This is this your depth, this is mine. I like
- 26:17Speaker 4: to keep it myself.
- 26:18Speaker 3: So what do you have? Who do you have playing
- 26:21Speaker 3: left guard to start the Raiders game?
- 26:23Speaker 4: Jared Wilson?
- 26:24Speaker 3: You have Wilson? Yeah, okay, and.
- 26:28Speaker 5: You have I have no idea that I mean, if
- 26:32Speaker 5: I had to make a guess, I would take Wilson, and.
- 26:34Speaker 3: You have Ben Jones, uh, Ben Brown, I'm.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Thinking of the other Garrett Bradberry, Ben Johnson, former Verbel safety.
- 26:42Speaker 5: The center that I know I know out of Georgia.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I remember Ben. I have a good story about him.
- 26:47Speaker 4: But anyway, very tight with captain anyways, but I have
- 26:52Speaker 4: Garrett Bradbury with Ben Brown. But but then also, so
- 26:55Speaker 4: which one do you have starting at center?
- 26:57Speaker 3: Bradbury?
- 26:58Speaker 4: Okay, yep, I got him a up. Okay, think that's
- 27:01Speaker 4: the that's the list. But you know, even bringing in
- 27:03Speaker 4: highness like, to me, it signals they're chill, still really
- 27:06Speaker 4: trying to figure it out at that position. And he
- 27:08Speaker 4: has some guard versatility too, So if maybe it doesn't
- 27:11Speaker 4: go great with Wilson, maybe he's an option there as well.
- 27:13Speaker 4: So now these moves just signal to me where they
- 27:16Speaker 4: think they're light and where they need to add some depth,
- 27:18Speaker 4: especially the veteran guys.
- 27:19Speaker 3: So what's what's your personnel? To start this game? Patriots
- 27:22Speaker 3: come out first and ten thirty five probably what's your
- 27:26Speaker 3: personnel thirty five?
- 27:28Speaker 4: I'm going to go eleven personnel with Vermandre and Hunter,
- 27:31Speaker 4: Henry and Uh and Digs Douglas and Booty. Say that again,
- 27:35Speaker 4: Digs Douglas, Booty, Hunter, Romandre Diggs Douglas.
- 27:39Speaker 5: I'm going to replace Booty with mac Hollins.
- 27:42Speaker 6: I'm going to replace Booty and Mac Collins with Jack
- 27:45Speaker 6: Westover because I GUARANTI is twenty one personnel with the
- 27:51Speaker 6: full back and back problem, you know, like with all
- 27:55Speaker 6: the changes.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Very subtle, small thing, but they've officially listed Westover as
- 28:02Speaker 5: a full back.
- 28:03Speaker 10: And the guy is now thirty seven full back number.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Got got off that eighty seven thing?
- 28:08Speaker 6: You're you're if they're going lead Iso right up the
- 28:11Speaker 6: middle on the first play, he should.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Go talk to him in the locker room.
- 28:14Speaker 5: I feel like, take my time getting out of the
- 28:15Speaker 5: food buffet if we get if we win the toss,
- 28:18Speaker 5: I want first. I'll come back for second and nine.
- 28:21Speaker 4: He's one west Over. I was biding my time a
- 28:23Speaker 4: little bit on but I don't think anyone's really talked
- 28:26Speaker 4: about him, and I don't know for sure if he's
- 28:28Speaker 4: going to really actually play. I mean, Evan, you know
- 28:30Speaker 4: you want to run right into the land and Roberts
- 28:32Speaker 4: first down shore, but.
- 28:34Speaker 6: Absolutely coming at you baby, right. That's why that tells
- 28:40Speaker 6: everybody that doesn't It doesn't matter to Paul.
- 28:44Speaker 5: But you know, no, I just thought it was interesting
- 28:47Speaker 5: that they went out of their way to officially make
- 28:51Speaker 5: that move on the roster, like no, no, no, he's
- 28:53Speaker 5: not not a tight end. He's a full back.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Yeah, he doesn't really look.
- 28:57Speaker 10: Like it doesn't look like a fullback to me too.
- 28:59Speaker 6: But I'm the one thing I am a little bit
- 29:02Speaker 6: interested in is like he probably can catch passes a
- 29:05Speaker 6: little bit more than like a Yakab Johnson or James
- 29:08Speaker 6: Devlin when Roberts caught a touchdown pass use But yeah, yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 6: but they the tight end background, maybe he does have
- 29:18Speaker 6: a little bit more juice as a receiver where they
- 29:20Speaker 6: can do some fun things with him in that respect
- 29:23Speaker 6: that maybe they wouldn't be able to do with like
- 29:26Speaker 6: a Devilin style fullback.
- 29:28Speaker 10: So I'm not saying he's gonna.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Catch I'll throw you a bone here of okay, because
- 29:32Speaker 5: I'm nothing if not fay. I can live with the
- 29:37Speaker 5: whole fullback thing. If this is the way it is,
- 29:39Speaker 5: like I'm going to take a third tight end and
- 29:42Speaker 5: make him a full back as opposed to what Evan
- 29:45Speaker 5: was describing before. Just like this bulldozer who just drops
- 29:50Speaker 5: his head and runs into a wall. This guy he
- 29:53Speaker 5: as a as a tight end by trade. He should
- 29:55Speaker 5: be able to get out and catch a pass or
- 29:57Speaker 5: to for you if you need be. He should be
- 29:59Speaker 5: able to block. He's got some mobility. He's not just
- 30:02Speaker 5: an offensive lineman playing in the backfield. If that's the
- 30:05Speaker 5: way you want to use a full back, okay, I
- 30:08Speaker 5: can live with that.
- 30:08Speaker 6: Well, you lead him up to the second level, Paul,
- 30:10Speaker 6: and then once the linebacker starts to bite on it,
- 30:13Speaker 6: then you run leak and you just run him right
- 30:14Speaker 6: by the linebacker and he's wide open.
- 30:18Speaker 5: You run leak with yo, Johnson and this doesn't do
- 30:20Speaker 5: you any good.
- 30:21Speaker 3: There you go, Stevenson's You're you're starting running back? Yeah? Okay?
- 30:28Speaker 10: For now?
- 30:28Speaker 3: Okay? And so then after the Patriots go the length
- 30:32Speaker 3: of the field for seven and they come out on
- 30:35Speaker 3: de go for two?
- 30:36Speaker 5: Why not go for two?
- 30:37Speaker 3: No, I don't need to do that.
- 30:38Speaker 5: So new era eight nothing, Okay, go.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Ahead, starting front seven for the Patriots? What does that
- 30:44Speaker 3: look like?
- 30:45Speaker 4: Take it away far more Tongam, Williams, Chase on Landry
- 30:49Speaker 4: on the edges, Blaine and Ellis.
- 30:52Speaker 3: So you have Tonga, I'm starting.
- 30:53Speaker 5: I'm with you. That's that would be my front seven.
- 30:56Speaker 4: And then and then Alex Austin and Carlton. Yeah, surprise
- 31:00Speaker 4: you going base, going base on space.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Well, I don't know that's base what we saw every day.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Really yeah, okay, well.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Except for when Toby got hurt, you know, and basically
- 31:12Speaker 5: missed all of camp.
- 31:13Speaker 3: I thought they were going to be a four to
- 31:14Speaker 3: three team.
- 31:15Speaker 6: I think they are, but that that's they could be both.
- 31:19Speaker 6: So wait a minute, that's a five man front. But
- 31:21Speaker 6: he just listed Yeah, but I understand what your point is.
- 31:25Speaker 6: You can look at those guys in the edges as linebackers.
- 31:28Speaker 6: You can look at him at his ends. Whatever however
- 31:30Speaker 6: you describe him is gonna. I think it's who. So
- 31:35Speaker 6: so let's take Chase on right. You're going to say
- 31:38Speaker 6: Chase onto pay Longo. No, I would expect you have
- 31:45Speaker 6: Williams bar More inside, Chase on Landery outside.
- 31:50Speaker 4: So out well see to me, it depends on and
- 31:53Speaker 4: put Marcus Jones in.
- 31:54Speaker 5: But this is all, and this is why coaches sometimes
- 31:57Speaker 5: bristle at like these depths.
- 31:59Speaker 3: I know, so and calling.
- 32:01Speaker 5: If Tennessee does the Evan thing, I mean, I'm sorry.
- 32:03Speaker 5: If Las Vegas does the the Evan thing and they
- 32:06Speaker 5: come out and it's genty with a full back in
- 32:08Speaker 5: front of them, and you know, then Tonga is going
- 32:11Speaker 5: to be in the middle.
- 32:12Speaker 10: Right.
- 32:13Speaker 5: But if they if they come out with Trey Tucker
- 32:16Speaker 5: on one side and Jacoby Myers in the slot and
- 32:19Speaker 5: Bowers and maybe Meyer the you know, like whatever, and
- 32:23Speaker 5: they have like four wide, then maybe Tonga is probably
- 32:26Speaker 5: not going to be in the game.
- 32:27Speaker 10: Yeah, that's fair.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 32:29Speaker 5: If they look like they're going to run the ball
- 32:30Speaker 5: on first down, Tong is going to be on.
- 32:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I mean, I think that's a simple way to think
- 32:34Speaker 4: of it as just Tonga Tonga out, Marcus Jones in. Maybe.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But there's only so many guys that I really think
- 32:39Speaker 4: are going to play. You know, I think I could
- 32:41Speaker 4: see Keon White getting some snaps, but after that, all
- 32:44Speaker 4: those guys I named, I think that's kind of the
- 32:46Speaker 4: rotation is like thirteen guys. Maybe it's not.
- 32:49Speaker 5: Really like I'm not ecting of personnel on defense for you.
- 32:51Speaker 6: I mean, I think on the D line there will
- 32:53Speaker 6: be because like Keon White's gonna get some snaps farm.
- 32:56Speaker 5: Especially earlier in the year, you're gonna see farms. You
- 32:59Speaker 5: probably you might even see, you know, some of the
- 33:01Speaker 5: younger guys, because usually you rotate a lot of bodies
- 33:04Speaker 5: up front.
- 33:05Speaker 4: I just I guess I'm more concerned with get down
- 33:08Speaker 4: to brass tacks and when the game's on the line,
- 33:10Speaker 4: who are the real guys? You know, I get, I
- 33:12Speaker 4: get trying to get you know, Jeremiah Farms some snaps
- 33:14Speaker 4: and get Joshua Farmer some work and you know, start
- 33:17Speaker 4: to see what you have. And some of these guys
- 33:19Speaker 4: probably dugger rotationally a little bit, but those other that's
- 33:24Speaker 4: kind of the core thirteen I see in.
- 33:26Speaker 3: So let's talk about Gonzo for a second. Is there
- 33:30Speaker 3: any chance that there's a little subterfuge going on on
- 33:33Speaker 3: the part of Mike Vrabel, Like I'm not gonna play
- 33:35Speaker 3: my cards. No, No, I don't know.
- 33:40Speaker 5: I don't think there's any subterfuge. I'm not going to
- 33:43Speaker 5: tell you there's no chance that he'll play. I think
- 33:45Speaker 5: there's a chance he'll play, you know, but I don't.
- 33:48Speaker 5: I don't think this is a ruse.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Okay, it doesn't seem like he has time for that.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Like sometimes with some of these ruses and subterfuge, energy
- 33:56Speaker 4: and energy going into trying to pull it off than
- 33:58Speaker 4: like the other team, like you know, they're probably still preparing,
- 34:01Speaker 4: like Gonzalez could play. I just think it's bowers to
- 34:05Speaker 4: me that like you know, I'm more concerned about him.
- 34:08Speaker 4: And how does Gonzales not being there affect the trickle
- 34:11Speaker 4: down of what their game plan is going to look
- 34:13Speaker 4: like dealing with Bowers.
- 34:14Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I just wonder.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Rabel yesterday kind of started to say that it's taken
- 34:21Speaker 6: longer than expected, and then sort of caught himself and
- 34:23Speaker 6: pivoted his answer a little bit.
- 34:26Speaker 10: It's a soft tissue thing.
- 34:27Speaker 6: You guys have been on it, like those things are tricky,
- 34:29Speaker 6: and one day it could feel better and the next
- 34:32Speaker 6: day it doesn't. So to me, it looks like they
- 34:36Speaker 6: were expecting him to be back and maybe a little
- 34:38Speaker 6: bit sooner than this, but it's just not ready yet.
- 34:41Speaker 6: And so it's better to be safe than sorry and
- 34:44Speaker 6: play the long game here. But I'm more worried about
- 34:47Speaker 6: not to look ahead. But like week two in Miami
- 34:50Speaker 6: is more worrisome without Gonzo than this week against the Raiders.
- 34:54Speaker 6: I think they can get by this week without him if.
- 34:57Speaker 3: It comes to isn't as much a factor this week.
- 34:59Speaker 6: And outside receiver, you know, in particular like Dante Thorton,
- 35:02Speaker 6: I guess has had a nice camp for him for them.
- 35:04Speaker 6: He was drafted, uh, you know from Tennessee, uh speed receiver.
- 35:09Speaker 6: But I overall like that's Trey Tucker is a nice
- 35:13Speaker 6: slot receiver, kind of like their pop Douglas. We obviously
- 35:15Speaker 6: know about Kobe Myers, but besides that, it's not a
- 35:19Speaker 6: star studded receiving corpse.
- 35:22Speaker 5: Early line, Paul, I believe the Patriots are favored by
- 35:25Speaker 5: two and a half two and a half, two and
- 35:27Speaker 5: a Hey you're down by and hey.
- 35:29Speaker 1: There we go.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Would you like to say disrespect now? You're going to
- 35:33Speaker 5: make them really underdogs point You're going to make it
- 35:36Speaker 5: out to be like we shocked the world. That's right,
- 35:40Speaker 5: I figured, Yeah, nobody believed that's that's Thursday showed on.
- 35:43Speaker 3: St okay uh weather early weather reports.
- 35:47Speaker 5: To be a really real, nice one gorgeous what I'm
- 35:52Speaker 5: hearing when every game should be played.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I also apparently that's when practices are happening now too.
- 35:57Speaker 4: It seems like, which kind of makes sense to me,
- 36:00Speaker 4: that you would practice roughly when you play. In the past,
- 36:03Speaker 4: teams have practiced in the morning, but it seems like
- 36:05Speaker 4: these guys are one thirty to three thirty is going
- 36:07Speaker 4: to be there their Wednesday Thursday practice.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Yeah, how do you feel about that? You like that,
- 36:12Speaker 3: does that fit your schedule?
- 36:13Speaker 4: Not great?
- 36:14Speaker 3: No, I'm not like that.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Not great, Bob.
- 36:16Speaker 3: What's it is? What it is?
- 36:18Speaker 4: I mean, uh, you know, you just gotta roll with it,
- 36:20Speaker 4: be flexible. You know, they gotta do what they gotta do.
- 36:22Speaker 4: I just understand the philosophy of it though, that you
- 36:25Speaker 4: want to get guys used to your body about one o'clock,
- 36:28Speaker 4: that's time to go. And you know, if you're practicing
- 36:30Speaker 4: at ten. I mean it's a subtle thing, but.
- 36:33Speaker 5: I just wonder, you know, in terms of their work
- 36:35Speaker 5: that they have to do in meetings, film study, you know,
- 36:38Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff, how you divide that up
- 36:42Speaker 5: during the course of the day. What's most advantageous because
- 36:44Speaker 5: it seems like we haven't had a tremendous amount of
- 36:48Speaker 5: coaches here. You know, it was Pete Carol for one
- 36:50Speaker 5: year for me, then all those years of Bill, then
- 36:54Speaker 5: Mayo for a year like it's but it seems like
- 36:55Speaker 5: everybody has a different time, and even Bill changed peer.
- 37:00Speaker 3: It's just a matter of like when you want your
- 37:02Speaker 3: film review to happen and all that. I think it
- 37:04Speaker 3: makes sense because you have the morning to look at
- 37:07Speaker 3: yesterday's practice. What are we going to fix what are
- 37:09Speaker 3: we going to do today yet? So you have all
- 37:11Speaker 3: the morning to do that, then you go do it.
- 37:14Speaker 12: You know.
- 37:14Speaker 6: Yeah, in the past, Bill would do it the night
- 37:17Speaker 6: before after practice they would break down the film and
- 37:21Speaker 6: then go over the script for the next day, and
- 37:22Speaker 6: then they come back in the morning and practice, whereas
- 37:25Speaker 6: this is all the morning I'm sure is going to
- 37:28Speaker 6: be what we're going to do at practice, the corrections
- 37:31Speaker 6: from the day before, and then right into practice. I'm
- 37:34Speaker 6: with you, I do it this way because I feel
- 37:36Speaker 6: like then they go home, they go they go to
- 37:39Speaker 6: you know, in their personal lives, they go to sleep.
- 37:41Speaker 6: They there's a lot of time that passes between when
- 37:43Speaker 6: they talked about, you know, your third step was off
- 37:46Speaker 6: on that route break and them actually getting back on
- 37:49Speaker 6: the field the next day and doing it live. So
- 37:52Speaker 6: this way there it all happens kind of it at
- 37:55Speaker 6: one one swoop.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it's also be a little different on Fridays. I
- 37:59Speaker 4: don't know if this ed was going to keep, but
- 38:01Speaker 4: in the past we've had like coach before practice. Now
- 38:05Speaker 4: it's going to be coach after practice. So Evan usually
- 38:07Speaker 4: does a write up based on who practice is on Friday.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Who might not be there, so you'll get to talk
- 38:12Speaker 4: directly to Vrabel. If Gonzo doesn't practice Friday, and all
- 38:16Speaker 4: signs are portant to know, you'll get to ask them
- 38:18Speaker 4: about it.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Okay, all right, well that's the table it has been set,
- 38:25Speaker 3: getting ready for the Raiders on Sunday, three days a
- 38:28Speaker 3: week for the Patriots, for Patriots Unfiltered. It's uh that
- 38:33Speaker 3: really signifies the start of this. That's when when we
- 38:35Speaker 3: go to three days a week.
- 38:36Speaker 10: That's what everybody says.
- 38:37Speaker 3: That's right.
- 38:38Speaker 4: It's just so nice to have things to talk about.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Like you get to this point where, like in the
- 38:41Speaker 4: off season where you feel like you've just unloaded the
- 38:43Speaker 4: clip on every topic that there is, and now you
- 38:47Speaker 4: go four days without a show and there's you know,
- 38:49Speaker 4: solid forty minutes worth of things to discuss. And it'll
- 38:52Speaker 4: only get better as the NFL season.
- 38:54Speaker 3: And all right, eight five to five Pats five hundred
- 38:57Speaker 3: is the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com is the
- 39:02Speaker 3: way to email us. So let's get to the phones
- 39:04Speaker 3: and we'll see who has what to say. We'll start
- 39:08Speaker 3: with who else? Christian in La what's up? Hey?
- 39:13Speaker 13: You guys pay a week to countdown and here we go,
- 39:16Speaker 13: I'm really excited about the season. On two things. One,
- 39:21Speaker 13: are you guys at all worried that you haven't really
- 39:25Speaker 13: heard any stellar comments about Drake May's play at practice.
- 39:30Speaker 13: And I just haven't heard like May is looking like,
- 39:33Speaker 13: you know, the next great thing. He's making these great
- 39:35Speaker 13: throws down field, blah blah blah. I guess I've heard
- 39:38Speaker 13: he's comfortable in the pocket, and I guess there has
- 39:40Speaker 13: to be enough, and so I'm a little bit lary
- 39:43Speaker 13: about that. Secondly, can you guys give me at leash
- 39:46Speaker 13: your first three plays? I have Rimandre Stevenson up the middle,
- 39:50Speaker 13: Trayvon Henderson probably a toss out, and then something up
- 39:54Speaker 13: the steam to the tight end.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Okay, I'll take it up the air, all right.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Thanks.
- 39:57Speaker 3: So on the first question, we don't really get to
- 40:00Speaker 3: see practice anymore, you know, you know, the good stuff,
- 40:03Speaker 3: So it's hard for anyone in the media to say, oh,
- 40:06Speaker 3: he's been looking good in practice.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Well, I would say that the what the two or
- 40:11Speaker 4: three practices we saw that were closed and we weren't
- 40:13Speaker 4: really allowed to write extensively about that. I thought there
- 40:17Speaker 4: were a couple of drakes best practices, but I would
- 40:20Speaker 4: just say overall he's been he's been good, but there
- 40:23Speaker 4: have been definitely moments of inconsistency with him all all
- 40:26Speaker 4: summer long.
- 40:27Speaker 3: And yeah, I think that's so we're not going to
- 40:28Speaker 3: be able to say any practices this week.
- 40:30Speaker 6: No, not to like make excuses for him, but I
- 40:34Speaker 6: wouldn't say that there's a ton of correlation between how
- 40:37Speaker 6: some of these players look in practice and then when
- 40:39Speaker 6: we those.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Practices that didn't even they weren't even.
- 40:41Speaker 6: Impact right, Like, I don't know, I've had I've seen
- 40:45Speaker 6: it go both ways, where guys have amazing training camps
- 40:48Speaker 6: and then all of a sudden, the season rolls around
- 40:50Speaker 6: and they're they're not even to be heard from, you know.
- 40:53Speaker 5: I mean, I think Mike hit it when we just
- 40:56Speaker 5: started talking about this, like we can hammer all of
- 40:58Speaker 5: these points that we in practice home all day long,
- 41:01Speaker 5: and now the season's here, we're going to get a
- 41:04Speaker 5: chance to get, you know, a sample size of what
- 41:07Speaker 5: it looks like in real, real action. One of the
- 41:10Speaker 5: things that I've really been focused on is how many
- 41:14Speaker 5: times I watch and I say, like there was pressure quickly,
- 41:17Speaker 5: but would that have been pressure leading to a sack
- 41:20Speaker 5: or throwaway or would that be a play that Drake
- 41:22Speaker 5: May can get off platform and make a play, and
- 41:27Speaker 5: you don't know that until it's a real game, right, Yeah,
- 41:30Speaker 5: it's impossible.
- 41:31Speaker 3: And as far as which plays are going to happen,
- 41:33Speaker 3: I mean, play two will be dictated by how well
- 41:35Speaker 3: play one works. Play one will be Hunter Henry over
- 41:39Speaker 3: the middle.
- 41:41Speaker 5: So I'm gonna say it's going to be a little
- 41:43Speaker 5: uh an easy and easy completion, you know, maybe getting someone,
- 41:49Speaker 5: you know, maybe.
- 41:49Speaker 3: A quick hitter west Over in the flat.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Well not west Over, but maybe even some you know,
- 41:55Speaker 5: some something to Digs real quick or Douglas real quick,
- 41:59Speaker 5: just to get Rake May settled, right, because that's been
- 42:02Speaker 5: kind of an under I don't know. I think it's
- 42:05Speaker 5: been a little bit of an overblown topic. Like how
- 42:07Speaker 5: Drake May had mentioned he's a little jacked up at
- 42:09Speaker 5: the beginning, and now everybody's running away with this. How
- 42:11Speaker 5: do we settle Drake down? I mean, like it's a
- 42:14Speaker 5: very common quarterback problem. And by the way, one that
- 42:17Speaker 5: even Tom Brady.
- 42:19Speaker 3: The greatest of all you were going to.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Like Brady Brady used to be a little bit hot, you.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Know, if anything, they need to get more excited.
- 42:27Speaker 6: Didn't he not score a touchdown in the first quarter
- 42:29Speaker 6: of a Super Bowl until Tampa.
- 42:31Speaker 10: Right, like, it was like ten straight, nine straight super bowls.
- 42:35Speaker 5: They were scooless in the first because he would super
- 42:39Speaker 5: bowls right yeah, yeah, thanks Bill, all of them. Thanks Bill.
- 42:42Speaker 5: I like that. That was it was well done, Mike.
- 42:45Speaker 5: I wonder if I.
- 42:47Speaker 6: Was listening to someone talk about this. I don't know who,
- 42:51Speaker 6: but Josh Allen used to like advocate for running the ball,
- 42:56Speaker 6: like him physically running the ball, I.
- 42:58Speaker 5: Want to say Boomers Sias and said that this morning,
- 43:01Speaker 5: let me get lit up. Yeah, and he would go
- 43:03Speaker 5: to brass Brian table, Yeah, give me, let me, let
- 43:06Speaker 5: me run it, let me get into the game, let
- 43:08Speaker 5: me get hit. I need to get hit.
- 43:09Speaker 10: Yeah yeah, something like that maybe one way to.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Help A lot of players say that you don't like,
- 43:16Speaker 3: you know, you don't really fill your into the game
- 43:18Speaker 3: until you get that either give or get that first hit.
- 43:21Speaker 5: But I just wonder if they'll give him, you know,
- 43:23Speaker 5: something really really quick, quick and easy completion. I'd be
- 43:29Speaker 5: surprised if you didn't see an early screen in the game.
- 43:32Speaker 5: I mean, you'ren't necessarily going to get one on first
- 43:34Speaker 5: and ten of the season, not really a great screen time.
- 43:37Speaker 5: But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised they're established.
- 43:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know when it would come.
- 43:42Speaker 5: I think they're going to be predominantly running early in
- 43:44Speaker 5: the game. I just mean, like.
- 43:47Speaker 10: Right up the middle.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Yeah, given when we know and Roberts like getting up
- 43:51Speaker 4: on Travian Henderson. You know, you see Travian Henderson split
- 43:55Speaker 4: out wide to see if it's man and like you
- 43:56Speaker 4: see Land and Roberts go with him. I'd be like alert, alert,
- 43:59Speaker 4: you know, think Lynn Roberts great coming downhill.
- 44:02Speaker 3: I don't need to run down and move out there.
- 44:04Speaker 4: Get him on, get him in coverage. That's I mean,
- 44:06Speaker 4: that's what I think Josh is probably that's the new
- 44:08Speaker 4: special sauce for this offense is maybe he didn't quite
- 44:12Speaker 4: expect what he was going to be able to do
- 44:13Speaker 4: with Henderson. But I imagine right now he's cooking in
- 44:15Speaker 4: a loud and I think.
- 44:16Speaker 3: If you're the Raiders, you want to rattle May early.
- 44:20Speaker 3: You want to get you want to get him thinking
- 44:22Speaker 3: about our pressure right away.
- 44:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I just say so.
- 44:26Speaker 3: So if I'm McDaniels, I would expect him to want
- 44:29Speaker 3: to do that. So, like Paul said, get it out
- 44:31Speaker 3: of his hands quickly, you know, don't let them do
- 44:35Speaker 3: that early.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I would. I'd look at the offensive line,
- 44:38Speaker 4: that was the left side of the offensive line. If
- 44:40Speaker 4: it's two rookies, you know, trying to get pressure. Adam
- 44:43Speaker 4: Butler's always been a good pass rusher, obviously Max Crosby
- 44:45Speaker 4: is excellent, but you know, trying to get pressure with
- 44:48Speaker 4: three or four guys and you know, make may read coverage,
- 44:51Speaker 4: make drop guys in his own so he's not going
- 44:53Speaker 4: to be as much of a threat with his feet.
- 44:55Speaker 4: And if you can give those rookies hell with Max
- 44:58Speaker 4: Crosby and you're able to get pressure with just him,
- 45:00Speaker 4: you know, with those guys, maybe run some stunts, then
- 45:03Speaker 4: I think that's the most direct way to get New
- 45:06Speaker 4: England's offense off balance. So those young guys, I mean
- 45:09Speaker 4: they get rattled early. I mean they've both been really
- 45:11Speaker 4: calm and steady. We know from our perspective, but an
- 45:14Speaker 4: opponent might look at that saying, hey, two rookies, sure,
- 45:16Speaker 4: put Max over them. Let's absolutely get them rattled early.
- 45:19Speaker 6: It's a really interesting like chess match on both sides,
- 45:22Speaker 6: because like Max Crosby usually rushes over the right tackle
- 45:25Speaker 6: so for him to flip sides is a game plan
- 45:28Speaker 6: wrinkle for the Raiders. And then from the Patriots point
- 45:30Speaker 6: of view, I think rightfully, so the staff last year
- 45:33Speaker 6: got a lot of heat for not having game plans
- 45:35Speaker 6: for pass rushers. You know, and you face a guy
- 45:38Speaker 6: like Max Crosby, you can't just expect Will Campbell to
- 45:41Speaker 6: block him one on one twenty times, like you have
- 45:43Speaker 6: to get you know, you have to help, you have
- 45:45Speaker 6: to chip, you have to move the pocket, you have
- 45:47Speaker 6: to double team, like, you have to do different things.
- 45:49Speaker 6: So from a McDaniel's Doug Maroon standpoint, is a really
- 45:53Speaker 6: like trial by fire from a game plan perspective of
- 45:56Speaker 6: how are you going to handle a pass rusher like
- 45:59Speaker 6: Max Crosby that can really take.
- 46:01Speaker 3: I remember several games where whether it was you know,
- 46:05Speaker 3: JJ Watt or Clay Matthews, you know, Bill would go
- 46:09Speaker 3: into the game saying, we're going to take that guy
- 46:11Speaker 3: away when Crosby win the game, and most of the
- 46:15Speaker 3: time they were at least successful in doing that.
- 46:18Speaker 6: You know, Like, it would be disappointing to me if
- 46:21Speaker 6: we are on here next Tuesday and Max Crosby just
- 46:24Speaker 6: had you know, ten pressures in a couple of sacks
- 46:27Speaker 6: and like that those are the types of things that
- 46:29Speaker 6: good coaching staffs avoid. Is this is the one guy
- 46:33Speaker 6: that can't beat us, right, so what can we do
- 46:35Speaker 6: to make sure that he doesn't beat you?
- 46:37Speaker 4: And say the same thing about Bowers on the other
- 46:38Speaker 4: side of the ball right exactly, go on, and he
- 46:40Speaker 4: has twelve catches and two touchdowns. You know that's it's
- 46:43Speaker 4: such a unique rate.
- 46:44Speaker 5: I'd be more surprised that that happened to Bowers than
- 46:46Speaker 5: I would be if Max Crosby that has a good
- 46:49Speaker 5: game too, I wouldn't. It wouldn't surprise me at all
- 46:52Speaker 5: to see him have a couple of sacks.
- 46:53Speaker 10: But like, how do they get pretty glad? I think
- 46:55Speaker 10: is interesting?
- 46:56Speaker 5: No, I agree with you. I think that they will
- 46:58Speaker 5: try very hard to gain and planned out. I just
- 47:01Speaker 5: think that Tom Brady had so much to do with
- 47:03Speaker 5: those shutdowns of JJ Watt and Joey Bosa and all
- 47:08Speaker 5: those other guys that they saw over the years.
- 47:10Speaker 4: The ball out too quick, man, I can't get you.
- 47:11Speaker 6: Yep, you can't just like ignore it, right, Like I
- 47:14Speaker 6: think the staff last year did that, and they just
- 47:17Speaker 6: kind of ran their plays and just expected guys to
- 47:20Speaker 6: hold up and all that kind of thing. And you know,
- 47:23Speaker 6: if they whether it's getting the ball out at Drake's
- 47:25Speaker 6: hands quickly, whether it's chipping him on third downs when
- 47:28Speaker 6: they have to drop back a little bit longer, you know,
- 47:31Speaker 6: moving the pocket away from him is right, he's over there,
- 47:34Speaker 6: I'm Drake may is running the other direction, like, Yeah,
- 47:37Speaker 6: those types of things like that. That's a I hope
- 47:40Speaker 6: that we're going to see that this year because that's
- 47:42Speaker 6: like how the coaching staff can really elevate the talent.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and I just offensively the reason I feel like
- 47:49Speaker 5: they do have two thousand yard receivers coming back.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Now.
- 47:52Speaker 5: I don't think Jakobe Myers is a great receiver. I
- 47:56Speaker 5: think he's good. I think he's a good player. I
- 47:58Speaker 5: wish that the Patriots never let him go in the
- 48:00Speaker 5: first place. As you guys know, their numbers are very similar.
- 48:04Speaker 5: I mean talking about the difference of about what fifteen catches,
- 48:09Speaker 5: you know, twenty catches and you know, less than one
- 48:11Speaker 5: hundred yards. So to Kobe Myers, if they want to
- 48:15Speaker 5: just double and do everything they can to take out
- 48:17Speaker 5: with Bowers. I think Geno Smith is a veteran enough
- 48:20Speaker 5: quarterback to have the experience to say, Okay, I'll oh,
- 48:24Speaker 5: just let this guy you know do it. But with
- 48:26Speaker 5: with with Crosby, I just think he's so much more
- 48:30Speaker 5: talented than in large part the guys they're going to
- 48:34Speaker 5: be blocking him. I think he'll make plays.
- 48:37Speaker 10: Yeah, shouldn't be blocking him by themselves.
- 48:39Speaker 5: No, they won't be.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're saying he'll beat the double.
- 48:42Speaker 5: I think he's seen a double team in the past.
- 48:44Speaker 5: Let's put it back.
- 48:45Speaker 3: I think so, yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 5: I think he's seen his share a double time.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Those are be interesting. He's like because he's feisty, he
- 48:49Speaker 4: loves like a little extra business, talking crap. Remember Gosh,
- 48:53Speaker 4: one of the hard Knocks, but their team was paring
- 48:55Speaker 4: for them and they were literally having like their practice squad.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Guys like be annoying, like Max Crosby is like Will
- 49:01Speaker 4: Campbell's attitude. I don't think he's going to be putting
- 49:03Speaker 4: up with that, you know. But it's also like that's
- 49:05Speaker 4: a way to get rookies off their game. If Mark
- 49:07Speaker 4: Max Crosby's in their ear talking crap and Will Campbell's
- 49:10Speaker 4: reacting more to him than he is on the game plan.
- 49:13Speaker 5: So it's just something the watch and bus you know,
- 49:16Speaker 5: you know, you could, you know, to Evan's point, if
- 49:19Speaker 5: you want to come out and be physical and run
- 49:20Speaker 5: the ball, that's a great way to neutralize pass rushers
- 49:23Speaker 5: and keep the hills. Get them up you know, get
- 49:26Speaker 5: them up field a little bit and maybe see if
- 49:28Speaker 5: you can you can, if you could crease them. But
- 49:33Speaker 5: this would be about McDaniels and you know what, what
- 49:38Speaker 5: the whatever the game plan is going to be in
- 49:39Speaker 5: the passing game and has got to be quick, right.
- 49:42Speaker 5: You can't expect to have typical Drake may plays where
- 49:45Speaker 5: he's surveying the field looking and drive the ball down
- 49:48Speaker 5: field and taking time because I don't care if it's
- 49:52Speaker 5: a double team, He's going to get there. He's gonna
- 49:55Speaker 5: And Malcolm Coons isn't bad. He's not Max Crosby, He's
- 49:58Speaker 5: not even close to Max Cross.
- 49:59Speaker 3: But he gets his ship.
- 50:00Speaker 5: He had eight sacks last year.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Which is two years ago.
- 50:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think he had eight last year.
- 50:04Speaker 10: No, he tours Aco last year.
- 50:06Speaker 5: Oh okay, that was Chase on last year.
- 50:08Speaker 10: But yeah, they I mean, you guys, they've been chipping the.
- 50:12Speaker 6: Ends a ton in practice and the practices that we
- 50:15Speaker 6: were seeing and even that like Yeah, he's still gonna
- 50:17Speaker 6: get there. But at least it gives Drake May that
- 50:19Speaker 6: half a beat to scan the field a little bit.
- 50:22Speaker 6: If it's third and eight and they know they have
- 50:24Speaker 6: to drop back past, if you can chip the ends,
- 50:27Speaker 6: then at least it gives them.
- 50:28Speaker 10: A little time.
- 50:28Speaker 6: But I think the Bowers thing, I assume that they're
- 50:31Speaker 6: going to probably bracket Bowers or something like that too.
- 50:34Speaker 6: That's where not having Gonzo can hurt you, because he's
- 50:37Speaker 6: Gonzo is going to be one on one against Jacoby
- 50:40Speaker 6: Myers in that scenario, and that is a matchup that
- 50:43Speaker 6: I think you can live with. But if it's Alex Austin,
- 50:46Speaker 6: or if it's Marcus Jones one on one against Jacoby Myers,
- 50:49Speaker 6: then that's a downgrade.
- 50:51Speaker 3: Hels playing a little cat and mouse, But probably not.
- 50:55Speaker 5: I mean, so let's just for argument's sake, I'm not please,
- 50:58Speaker 5: don't not getting an argument about this.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Oh, yes you are.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Would it makes sense to you to not having practiced.
- 51:08Speaker 5: So this is gonna be about thirty five days, right, right,
- 51:12Speaker 5: So let's say he's been practicing the last couple so
- 51:15Speaker 5: he went thirty days without practicing, and then it was
- 51:19Speaker 5: part of a ruse. So not having practiced for the
- 51:21Speaker 5: other days and having practiced the last.
- 51:23Speaker 3: It's like it's it's like Rabel knows more chance than
- 51:29Speaker 3: not he's going to play. But I don't need to
- 51:31Speaker 3: tell anybody.
- 51:32Speaker 5: No, no, there might be that. Yeah, but I don't
- 51:34Speaker 5: think that's a good ruse. Yeah, Like I think it
- 51:37Speaker 5: would be better if you just said no, no, no,
- 51:39Speaker 5: he's been practicing the last two weeks and he's up
- 51:41Speaker 5: to speed.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Well, I don't think I'm saying he hasn't been practicing
- 51:44Speaker 3: the last two weeks. He hasn't been practicing.
- 51:46Speaker 5: Okay, then yeah, what's the sense of doing a ruse
- 51:49Speaker 5: if he's not practiced.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Because because you know he's gonna, he's gonna he's close.
- 51:53Speaker 5: Like Mike said, Like, if I'm Pete Carroll right now,
- 51:56Speaker 5: I'm fully anticipating Christian Gonzalez being at corner on Sunday.
- 52:00Speaker 5: If he's not, that makes your job easier, right, right,
- 52:03Speaker 5: I guess So, yeah, all right. I think it was
- 52:07Speaker 5: July twenty eighth was the day he got hurt in practice.
- 52:10Speaker 5: So we're talking like first day of Patty five plus
- 52:13Speaker 5: days that he's going to go, you know, practicing.
- 52:15Speaker 10: If I know, I'm more worried about like from tomorrow,
- 52:19Speaker 10: Like I'm not worried about Gonza. Solution is the problem, right,
- 52:23Speaker 10: Like can he There's no chance he can play seventy
- 52:26Speaker 10: snaps on Sunday.
- 52:27Speaker 5: That's my whole point. Yeah, Like like why would you
- 52:29Speaker 5: go out of your way to you know, I misunderstood
- 52:33Speaker 5: what Fred's part of the ruse was, Like why would
- 52:35Speaker 5: you go out of your way to have him not
- 52:36Speaker 5: be ready to play? Yeah, just so the other team
- 52:38Speaker 5: doesn't know he's not playing.
- 52:41Speaker 4: I just say, generally speaking, and it goes back a
- 52:43Speaker 4: little bit to Pepper's thing based on the joint practices.
- 52:45Speaker 4: I'm just I'm so curious how they're going to deal
- 52:47Speaker 4: with tight ends all season long with this defense and
- 52:51Speaker 4: Bowers is unique, and Evan's been the one to say
- 52:53Speaker 4: it's more about the average tight ends, the guys.
- 52:55Speaker 3: That are sneaky.
- 52:56Speaker 5: This guy's are wide receiving right.
- 52:58Speaker 4: Right, So you know you're going to get attention with
- 53:01Speaker 4: him and it'll be probably a special game pan But
- 53:03Speaker 4: week in week out, is Christian ellis your tight end?
- 53:07Speaker 4: E racer?
- 53:07Speaker 12: Is that?
- 53:08Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 53:08Speaker 4: Like, there's not really is it going to be Craig Woodson,
- 53:11Speaker 4: Like it's questions. Yeah, and there's good tight ends across
- 53:14Speaker 4: the league.
- 53:15Speaker 6: I just wonder, like, it's to me, how game plan
- 53:18Speaker 6: oriented are they actually going to be. Like we knew
- 53:20Speaker 6: with Bill that Bill was going to have something for
- 53:21Speaker 6: Brock Bauers, and I expect we're able to have something
- 53:24Speaker 6: for Brock Browers too. But Belichick had a lot of
- 53:27Speaker 6: really creative double teams and brackets and calls within the
- 53:31Speaker 6: structure of the defense that they would run against these
- 53:34Speaker 6: types of players, like you know, when they would face
- 53:37Speaker 6: a Bowers level type.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Of Travis Kelcey. There were times where Travis Kelcey was
- 53:41Speaker 5: taken out. Now was at the expense of giving up
- 53:43Speaker 5: thirty five to everybody else, but he did nothing. And
- 53:47Speaker 5: I think that Bill treated Kelsey as a wide receiver,
- 53:51Speaker 5: not a tight end, certainly, and I think that's the
- 53:54Speaker 5: way they'll look at Bob.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:55Speaker 6: I mean the AFC Championship game that they had corners
- 53:58Speaker 6: on Kelsey the entire game is j C. Jackson a
- 54:00Speaker 6: little bit of Stefan Gilmore So they treated him.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Like a receiver. Nathan's in New Hampshire. What's up, Nathan, Hey, how's.
- 54:10Speaker 12: It going, guysyton, I got a question about the quarterbacks.
- 54:15Speaker 12: So last season, the quarterbacks took one thousand, ninety one snaps,
- 54:20Speaker 12: and I'm curious what your guys just take on how
- 54:22Speaker 12: many snaps each quarterback will take?
- 54:24Speaker 14: Drake many Joshua Dobbs and Tommy DeVito this year? If
- 54:27Speaker 14: there's a thousand snaps, So what percent or what number
- 54:29Speaker 14: will eat to them take? Or how many will any
- 54:34Speaker 14: unknown quarterback that we don't know of at this point
- 54:37Speaker 14: if something happens and they bring in another we're heading
- 54:39Speaker 14: into week one.
- 54:40Speaker 5: That's a really uplifting question. Obviously, you're talking if how many,
- 54:44Speaker 5: how many games the Drake may are going to be hurt?
- 54:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 54:47Speaker 5: Can I go in thinking that he's going to play
- 54:49Speaker 5: seventeen games? And yes, can you let me have that
- 54:51Speaker 5: little fantasy?
- 54:52Speaker 3: Yeah, ninety nine point nine percent?
- 54:54Speaker 4: Yeah, just kneel down down a couple of kneel.
- 54:56Speaker 10: Down time, garbage time, Dobbs, is there an to be
- 55:00Speaker 10: up forty five to nothing?
- 55:01Speaker 3: Can we do that?
- 55:02Speaker 10: Throw him out there a couple of times? Mop up duty?
- 55:05Speaker 3: But kind of makes me think, does Tommy DeVito end
- 55:09Speaker 3: up winning the number two job?
- 55:11Speaker 10: I think it's possible. I do dialistically. I just think
- 55:16Speaker 10: he's a little bit more of a fit.
- 55:18Speaker 4: You know, in practice, Like could you tell from what
- 55:20Speaker 4: we'll see in practice or would have to be like, oh,
- 55:23Speaker 4: di Vito's going in here that the Patriots are up
- 55:26Speaker 4: twenty in the fourth quarters? Di Vito going in now?
- 55:28Speaker 6: Well, I would think like on the game day actives right, like,
- 55:32Speaker 6: because the emergency quarterback is the third string quarterback, so
- 55:36Speaker 6: typically so all of a sudden, Dobbs becomes the emergency quarterback.
- 55:41Speaker 3: That's right.
- 55:44Speaker 5: Personally, I don't think much of okay, bad uh.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Like the let's go to Providence, Randy's there? What's up Randy?
- 55:55Speaker 15: Hey, guys, how's going to that?
- 55:57Speaker 3: Good? Great?
- 55:59Speaker 16: So I was because a lot of sports for innership
- 56:02Speaker 16: and stuff you hear about, you know, prep through the
- 56:04Speaker 16: game and people talking about Max Kraft versus Campbell, and
- 56:08Speaker 16: I just don't Max Crofty usually runs the right tackle.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Yeah, your your connection.
- 56:15Speaker 5: We've talked about that.
- 56:16Speaker 10: I got right though, It's kind of something that's starting
- 56:20Speaker 10: to annoy me. What ball nowhere?
- 56:22Speaker 6: You know, everybody's like, oh, like Crosby against Will Campbell.
- 56:26Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, Well, Crosby likes to rush over the
- 56:28Speaker 6: other side. So, and there's a lot of guys like Crosby.
- 56:33Speaker 15: T J.
- 56:33Speaker 6: Watt is another one that typically rushes over the right tackle.
- 56:37Speaker 6: Von Miller historically likes rushing over the right tackle. I
- 56:41Speaker 6: was actually talking about Morgan Moses to Morgan Moses about it.
- 56:44Speaker 10: It's like, why do you think that is?
- 56:45Speaker 3: Like, why do you think because your turnfoot is your
- 56:48Speaker 3: right foot, and yeah.
- 56:50Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't know what it is that is the reason.
- 56:53Speaker 6: But eighty eighty five percent of the time Max Crosby's
- 56:57Speaker 6: over the right tackle. Now, they could say Campbell a
- 57:00Speaker 6: rookie in his first NFL game and we're going to
- 57:01Speaker 6: test him.
- 57:02Speaker 10: I'm not saying they.
- 57:02Speaker 6: Couldn't, right, But at the end of the day, I was,
- 57:05Speaker 6: if Crosby wants to rush over the right tackle, then
- 57:07Speaker 6: I'm letting Crosby rush where he wants to rush.
- 57:10Speaker 5: Right wherever he would feel more comfortable. But I was
- 57:14Speaker 5: maybe I'll throw this to Evan. I'll throw Evan the ball,
- 57:17Speaker 5: no or bone. Why do you think more elite pass
- 57:21Speaker 5: rushers don't do it that way? Because wouldn't you think?
- 57:23Speaker 5: And I know this is a little less than it
- 57:25Speaker 5: used to be, but can you think the easier matchup
- 57:28Speaker 5: oftentimes is the right tackle.
- 57:29Speaker 10: Yeah yeah, well yeah, I don't know what do you
- 57:33Speaker 10: mean by easier matchup?
- 57:34Speaker 3: Just like, well, generally the.
- 57:35Speaker 5: Left tackle is a better player than the right tackle,
- 57:38Speaker 5: so it was tougher to beat on the pass rush.
- 57:40Speaker 10: Right, so you'd go against the lesser player on right.
- 57:42Speaker 5: Which is a lot of people used to criticize. Maybe
- 57:45Speaker 5: old friend Brian Morey used to criticize the guys that
- 57:48Speaker 5: predominantly ran on that because they didn't want to face
- 57:51Speaker 5: the left tackle.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 57:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to get sad.
- 57:53Speaker 4: There's also the old thing which I don't even know
- 57:54Speaker 4: if this is true anymore of the teams like to
- 57:56Speaker 4: run right more.
- 57:57Speaker 12: You know.
- 57:57Speaker 4: That's more left sides can be your blind side pass
- 58:01Speaker 4: protector and your right side is a little bit more
- 58:02Speaker 4: of your maller. I know it doesn't always work out
- 58:04Speaker 4: that way, but traditionally that's been the case that if
- 58:06Speaker 4: you're on.
- 58:07Speaker 5: Your best pass off the blind side.
- 58:09Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and you want your edge setter and your
- 58:11Speaker 4: guy who's going to be tough against it. I mean,
- 58:12Speaker 4: and that's Max Crosby too, but you know, usually that
- 58:15Speaker 4: guy's gonna get stuck set in the edge.
- 58:16Speaker 6: You just see it a lot more now with the
- 58:19Speaker 6: premiere pass rushers that a lot of guys prefer rushing
- 58:22Speaker 6: over the right side. It's a really interesting question that I,
- 58:27Speaker 6: you know, wish that I had Max Crosby to ask him.
- 58:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I would just say that. And this is completely anecdotal.
- 58:33Speaker 5: I have no none of Evan's stats to back this up.
- 58:36Speaker 5: But I feel like I've seen more in the last
- 58:39Speaker 5: couple of years, maybe even longer than that, more quote
- 58:43Speaker 5: unquote blind side hits from the coming off the right side,
- 58:46Speaker 5: where a quarterback just doesn't see him, you know, because
- 58:49Speaker 5: he's fixated on the other side and it's even though
- 58:53Speaker 5: it's coming to the front side. Do you remember the
- 58:56Speaker 5: play that you probably don't Evan might Anthony Richardson in
- 59:00Speaker 5: the preseason. Yeah, well he missed the guy that right,
- 59:04Speaker 5: but it was a front side blind side hit. I mean,
- 59:06Speaker 5: I feel like I've seen more of those in the
- 59:08Speaker 5: last couple of years than I ever remember seeing before.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:10Speaker 10: I mean that one was he was hot to the
- 59:12Speaker 10: right side and he didn't see the blitzer coming. Yeah,
- 59:15Speaker 10: so like he thought he was. I think a lot
- 59:17Speaker 10: of times with the.
- 59:18Speaker 6: Quarterbacks when they get blind sided, it's because they think
- 59:20Speaker 6: that they have the numbers to the side, so they're
- 59:23Speaker 6: not expecting the guy to win as quickly as he
- 59:25Speaker 6: does because they think that they have the hat on
- 59:27Speaker 6: the hat to that side.
- 59:29Speaker 10: In Richardson's case, he did not have had on it
- 59:31Speaker 10: all right.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Time for a break. We've sent a lot when we
- 59:36Speaker 3: come back, more calls than emails on this work week.
- 59:40Speaker 3: And speaking of work, bront Workwear makes work boots and
- 59:44Speaker 3: apparel that are built for the job site, and they're

- 1:01:59Speaker 1: How are we doing? Karen? Thank you.
- 1:02:06Speaker 19: Can you shed some light on why it made sense.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: To release growth compers?
- 1:02:15Speaker 20: Well, I think that these things, you know, are tough decisions,
- 1:02:19Speaker 20: you know. I think we're just trying to get it right.
- 1:02:22Speaker 20: And I got a lot of respect for Jabriel as
- 1:02:25Speaker 20: as a person and as a player, and what we
- 1:02:28Speaker 20: felt like was in the best interest of a team
- 1:02:30Speaker 20: at this point.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Was was allowing him to have another opportunity elsewhere.
- 1:02:37Speaker 20: And there's a lot of things that go into these decisions,
- 1:02:40Speaker 20: and you know, they're never easy, and we're just trying
- 1:02:43Speaker 20: to get it right collectively. And again, I know that
- 1:02:47Speaker 20: there's a personal side and professional side. I've talked about
- 1:02:50Speaker 20: that with the players this morning, and whether you agree
- 1:02:53Speaker 20: with it or disagree with it, just just try to
- 1:02:56Speaker 20: respect it and.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Then move forward and continue to build a team, continue.
- 1:03:02Speaker 20: To build a program, and I know, Gabriel, you know
- 1:03:06Speaker 20: we'll we'll do we'll do good things in this league
- 1:03:09Speaker 20: and the outside of the field as well as passionate player.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: And again got a lot of respect for him, Oh
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: my god.
- 1:03:17Speaker 19: In terms of intangible s, you brough out a lot
- 1:03:19Speaker 19: of what you'd like to think about passion plays.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: The allowance was there was there a ski fit issue?
- 1:03:24Speaker 20: No, I don't think that was certainly not, you know,
- 1:03:28Speaker 20: not the issue. There's a lot of reasons. You know,
- 1:03:31Speaker 20: I wouldn't say that.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: You know, that's you know, we're we're going to try
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: to do what's best for the team.
- 1:03:37Speaker 20: We got a lot of different schemes that we can
- 1:03:39Speaker 20: run in all three phases, special teams, offense, and defense.
- 1:03:42Speaker 20: So you know, there's there's a lot that goes into it.
- 1:03:45Speaker 20: And again we're just trying to build towards Sunday here
- 1:03:47Speaker 20: and and that's our focus. And again that the decision
- 1:03:50Speaker 20: that we had to make. And you know, again wish
- 1:03:55Speaker 20: the best for Jabril.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Fall off from the untrim takes like through a lot
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: of experience.
- 1:04:03Speaker 20: Well, I think that his athleticism, I think his range
- 1:04:06Speaker 20: in the in the field, and then the more he plays,
- 1:04:09Speaker 20: I think he'll continue to get better. And you know
- 1:04:13Speaker 20: that that's the hope there with with Craig, and you
- 1:04:17Speaker 20: know we'll see with with with with Hawk and with
- 1:04:22Speaker 20: Doug and obviously Dell working back there now. So you know,
- 1:04:27Speaker 20: just trying to find a role for everybody here.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: Have you kind of made a conscious decision to put
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: your infrot on the team?
- 1:04:35Speaker 20: Is the number of guys who have been the leaders
- 1:04:36Speaker 20: with that first lb Cardona, Andrews, Jonathan Johnson, fut twise,
- 1:04:42Speaker 20: they were still hit the.
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: Leaders assessions, they're tremendously successful to so like whotho less?
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Have you made a conscious decision to kind of we're
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: gonna pivot a little bit from that group of leadership
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: to a.
- 1:04:54Speaker 20: Different I don't you know, never really thought about it
- 1:04:57Speaker 20: in terms of of that when we tried to make
- 1:04:59Speaker 20: decisi Some of those players were free agents, some of
- 1:05:03Speaker 20: them work currently on the roster, So you know, I
- 1:05:07Speaker 20: don't think that's ever been a conscious decision. I think
- 1:05:10Speaker 20: we're just trying to evaluate the roster and you know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 20: provide the pieces that we feel like we need right now.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Do you see a core of leaders who are are I.
- 1:05:24Speaker 20: Think that that has to happen every year. You know,
- 1:05:26Speaker 20: we voted for captains. We'll we'll inform those guys here
- 1:05:29Speaker 20: before practice. You know, the players voted this morning, so
- 1:05:33Speaker 20: we'll inform those guys before practice. And I think we
- 1:05:38Speaker 20: all know that every year is a new year in
- 1:05:40Speaker 20: this league and that's kind of how it how it goes,
- 1:05:43Speaker 20: and so the leadership has to grow from whether it's
- 1:05:47Speaker 20: a captain. We talked about that not having any restrictions
- 1:05:51Speaker 20: on leadership and hopefully that at whatever level, we have
- 1:05:54Speaker 20: guys that that can lead. So you know, we'll have
- 1:05:57Speaker 20: captains and then we'll have hopefully a lot more leaders
- 1:05:59Speaker 20: as well. But yeah, I wouldn't anticipate Yeah, I wouldn't
- 1:06:06Speaker 20: anticipate him out here, uh here today. So hopefully that improves.
- 1:06:10Speaker 20: But you know, he's working hard and trying to improve
- 1:06:14Speaker 20: and he wants to be out there. And you know,
- 1:06:16Speaker 20: I think this is good for us and for Christian
- 1:06:19Speaker 20: and the team is you know, try not to be frustrated. Obviously,
- 1:06:22Speaker 20: those things happen, and it's how we respond to him.
- 1:06:27Speaker 20: It's it's how hard we work to get back the
- 1:06:29Speaker 20: communication all the things that that he's doing, so, you know,
- 1:06:35Speaker 20: just continue to work hard to get back and try
- 1:06:37Speaker 20: to make sure that you know we're doing everything we
- 1:06:40Speaker 20: can to help him.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: They're concerned for him on Sunday with the timing dates.
- 1:06:44Speaker 20: Well, again, I think that uh, having to get him
- 1:06:48Speaker 20: back for practice first and then we'll have an update
- 1:06:51Speaker 20: and status for for Sunday.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, maybe never not to be frustrated.
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: Is that something into the team Christians.
- 1:06:59Speaker 20: Know, that's my own personal experience of you know, when
- 1:07:03Speaker 20: you're not in there right, when you're not in there
- 1:07:06Speaker 20: with the team, I guess, and I appreciate you actually
- 1:07:09Speaker 20: clarifying or asking. Those are just things in the course
- 1:07:11Speaker 20: of of my career or being being a coach and
- 1:07:15Speaker 20: dealing with players that they want to they want to play,
- 1:07:18Speaker 20: they want to be out there, right, So those are
- 1:07:21Speaker 20: I guess the things that I have tried to talk
- 1:07:23Speaker 20: to all the players about is the time that you're
- 1:07:27Speaker 20: not on the field, is how you stay engaged and
- 1:07:31Speaker 20: stay into the meetings and the schedule and just you know,
- 1:07:37Speaker 20: they all want to play. So again, I think that
- 1:07:39Speaker 20: was just a broad term for things that I've tried
- 1:07:43Speaker 20: to focus on when guys aren't out there that could
- 1:07:46Speaker 20: go for Jilani or anybody else.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: At this point, I appreciate that step back off. Well
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: it just hasn't gone.
- 1:07:57Speaker 20: You know, again he's working hard and whether it's again
- 1:08:01Speaker 20: we could say this one injury is going to be
- 1:08:04Speaker 20: three to four weeks, one's going to be one to two.
- 1:08:07Speaker 20: Everybody heals differently, So just making sure that when the
- 1:08:11Speaker 20: players are back that they can do their job with confidence,
- 1:08:15Speaker 20: that they can protect themselves on on the field, and
- 1:08:19Speaker 20: that they can't make it any worse. Those are some
- 1:08:22Speaker 20: things that I try to use as guidelines for when
- 1:08:25Speaker 20: players are ready to play and get back there, not trying.
- 1:08:30Speaker 10: To get questrated with this about what have you.
- 1:08:33Speaker 9: Seen doctor, and specifically that you definitely have at that
- 1:08:37Speaker 9: position with the dogs design.
- 1:08:39Speaker 20: I mean, I think DJ was one of our more
- 1:08:42Speaker 20: improved players over the course of from rookie mini camp,
- 1:08:46Speaker 20: which is you know he participated in that as a
- 1:08:50Speaker 20: veteran that had the ability to participate in that till
- 1:08:54Speaker 20: now you know, Double A has done a nice job
- 1:08:59Speaker 20: of going out there and playing corner and playing nickel.
- 1:09:02Speaker 20: Marcus provides a lot of leadership in there. It's been
- 1:09:06Speaker 20: good to have CD strengths some days together. So you know,
- 1:09:09Speaker 20: it provides opportunity for the guys, and we'd love to
- 1:09:12Speaker 20: have Gonzo back, you know, trust me, we would. But
- 1:09:17Speaker 20: I think the other guys that have stepped up and
- 1:09:20Speaker 20: tried to uh take advantage of the opportunity.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: Jim Hopkins big symmetry fit for his defense for this team.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: For Mayer scheme.
- 1:09:29Speaker 20: Well, again it's this is not a scheme dependent, you know.
- 1:09:33Speaker 20: I mean we've we've run a lot of different schemes.
- 1:09:35Speaker 20: We've had a lot of different players play different positions
- 1:09:38Speaker 20: for us. I think he's come in, he's played fast,
- 1:09:41Speaker 20: he's communicated, he's tried to play with some you know
- 1:09:46Speaker 20: violence around the line of scrimmage and and you know
- 1:09:48Speaker 20: whether that's on the perimeter passes that we saw in
- 1:09:51Speaker 20: some of the earlier games.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I think he's comfortable.
- 1:09:55Speaker 20: And you know, again, the more reps that he's gotten,
- 1:09:59Speaker 20: I think the the better he's gotten it.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: And we'll hopefully perform. What do you look about.
- 1:10:08Speaker 20: I think you're always looking for young defensive linemen and
- 1:10:11Speaker 20: guys with with good size and and and length and production.
- 1:10:15Speaker 20: So somebody that we had targeted, you know, through the
- 1:10:19Speaker 20: draft process as it got to the towards the back
- 1:10:22Speaker 20: end of the draft, and you know whether that was
- 1:10:25Speaker 20: whether he was going to be drafted or not. And
- 1:10:28Speaker 20: I think just the personnel department focusing on some of
- 1:10:32Speaker 20: those players at cutdown day and having a good list,
- 1:10:35Speaker 20: and you know, some of the players that we were
- 1:10:38Speaker 20: able to add.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I'm really excited about working with here.
- 1:10:40Speaker 20: Haven't really been able to work with him since we
- 1:10:42Speaker 20: claimed him Thursday and then when we added Airic.
- 1:10:54Speaker 10: And now great moments in.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: History.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: The neighbor that burns everything, plastic everything, now that's now
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: that that's bad.
- 1:11:05Speaker 10: Yeah, that's even even I would say. But I don't
- 1:11:07Speaker 10: get Matt's.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: That must be an awful smell is horrible when he
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: does it.
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: It's always the guy that burns the leaves too, and
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: it's up.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: I don't mind leaving, but it ends up.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: With like a blaze and ashes are coming into my yard.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: Though when he's doing.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Well, you're not supposed to burn leaves. You can burn
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: brush and stuff, but not leaves. But people, I know everything.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: I got a guy across the street smokers, he's got
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: he's got his main driving paved, but then he's got
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: this back road which is all dirt. And he could.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: He keeps putting down wood ships, and every time it rains,
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: the wood ships just drain right out into the street.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: He doesn't get it. It's like it's not gonna work.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: How many times are you gonna do this? He keeps
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: doing it, and it keeps just running right out.
- 1:11:54Speaker 10: Just keep it dirt or paving something sounds like a pillow.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: But like the first time, the first time you look
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: at it, Oh, that didn't work, and you don't do
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: it again. He keeps doing it.
- 1:12:04Speaker 18: That's another great moment.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Back here at Patriots on Filtered A five five Pats
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: five hundred is the hot line podcast at Patriots dot
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: com is the email address. We're talking a little bit
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: on break about last night's uh.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: Not good bob. Yeah, tough debut for Billy Bellachi.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Yeah, not good Bob. They'll get better. They will get better,
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: I think I think the.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: I think they will as well.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: But the other the thing that surprised me was how
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: sloppy they looked about the talent we knew they were
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: going to be. You know, they're gonna have a hard
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: time competing with good teams because they're not going to
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: have their players yet but they couldn't execute snaps, you know,
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: whether it be a shotgun special teams were a mess, bad,
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: like just bad football.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: But the other Patriots coach who made his college coach
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: and debut did very well.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: I thought fourteen to seven Watricia, the number one ranked
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: team in the country, we should all be thinking.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: His defense played out. They they showed up.
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of cutups going around of some of
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: the exotics that he was running, like some of the pressures.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: And single handedly took arch Man NFL NFL schemes.
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: At the collegiate level, well, I think it's a lot
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: of people were talking about that.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: It's funny because you know, they're like the skuis and
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: coverage and these college quarterbacks are like, what the heck
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: is going on? Like you can just see arch manning
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: like looking around and guys are dropping out and they're
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: spinning the dial, and he's like, what the heck. But
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: you know, only teams like Ohio State have the horses
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: to actually execute that type of defense. So that's why
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: you don't see it across all college But when you
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: have you know, Caleb Downs in Ohio State secondary, you
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: can go ahead and do some of those NFL things.
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: Remember Caleb Downspread, Okay, yeah, talking about him on'll be
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: on the February.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: But when when arch man do the bars of the
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: world like did their heads like explode? Because so I
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: would just.
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: Say that arch Manning took arch Manning out of the
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: Heisman conversation. I just think I don't think he played
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: very well.
- 1:14:15Speaker 10: I think he was in a blender. But I think
- 1:14:18Speaker 10: that those two things go on.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: I think that's part of being a great court.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: I saw there was there were the cutups that I
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: was looking at and I was like, he looks like
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: you knows where he's supposed to go with the ball,
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: He's just not getting it there. But the one ball
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: that I would say was in a blender, to Evan's point,
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: was the pick. It's just dumb, Yeah, like you try
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: to throw like an over route into like bracket cuts
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: like it was red shirts everywhere. It was one of
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: those defensive team meetings. Someone was going to pick that off.
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: That was a really bad play. But I just think
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: he was He was off until the end of the
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: game when he down fourteen to nothing. That drive that
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: he put together to score the touchdown, the touchdown throw
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: was really good. And then he had another throw down
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: the sideline and the next drive that he dropped one
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: in perfect on the sideline I think to the tight
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: end for like thirty yards, but then he missed an
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: easy crossing route on third and five. He knew exactly
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: where his guy was. Best player. Who was that speedster there?
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: To get his name? Now that's my problem when I
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: watch these college games. I'm like, Oh, that guy's good,
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: and then I forget the names.
- 1:15:16Speaker 10: Yeah, a lot of Texas receivers are under classmen.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: They had Goolden and one of they got.
- 1:15:22Speaker 10: All those guys go to the NFL, so they have
- 1:15:25Speaker 10: a lot of younger receivers. But it's just Ohio State.
- 1:15:29Speaker 6: It's one of those schools that has the talent on
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: the defense to actually do some of the things that
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: Patricia was doing. But I guess is that a lot
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: of these offensive minds in college.
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: Well, we'll catch up. Mattie p was really good, really
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: good first game.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: Does that Alabama head coach finish the season the bear?
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: But I will say yes, but I don't think he'll
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: be the coach next year.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: Yeah. William the wide receiver for Alabama hurt. Did he
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: come back in the game.
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: It was like the second to last play of the game.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: Ok.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: I don't think, but I think he got can cussed
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: his head right.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: I watched the play. It didn't look like it was
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: that straight on of a hit.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: I know he didn't get hit. That's why I took
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: the targeting. He hit his head on the ground.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Oh on the ground.
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, okay, but he had a tough game. He
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: did not play well in the game.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Yeah Williams.
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean nobody.
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: I mean Caden Proctor, their left tackle is supposed to
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: be a top ten pick in this upcoming draft, and
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: he got beat by a freshman.
- 1:16:32Speaker 10: I got true freshman.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: I don't know if you watch much of that game, Freddy.
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: Florida State dominated that game the last fifty one. The
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: first nine minutes, Alabama went down the field. It was
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: like North Carolina last night. It was a long drive
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: that went down and scored the rest of the game.
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: Florida State killed them. The game was not as close
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: as the score indicated.
- 1:16:53Speaker 10: I think you look at all these college games, so
- 1:16:56Speaker 10: you do. It was just one week. But the Patriots
- 1:17:02Speaker 10: stinking in a quarter good quarterback class, I think is
- 1:17:05Speaker 10: like such a great feeling if you're a Patriots fan.
- 1:17:09Speaker 10: Because if I had to sell myself on Arch Manning
- 1:17:12Speaker 10: and sellers a kid from South Carolina that played the
- 1:17:16Speaker 10: other day, or club Nick from Clemson, or ness Meyer,
- 1:17:19Speaker 10: any of these guys I do like, I would be concerned.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: It's just tco. But Hoover looked pretty good.
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: He's a good player. Yeah, he's not considered one of
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: those guys that Evan's talking about. It is supposed to
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: be a strong quarterback class. I don't think arch Manning
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: is going to come out. But the other guys that
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: that Evan's talking about are all I mean, I think
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: field Yates has one, two three right now. I don't
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: see that. I don't see that talent. But I do
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: like ness Meyer.
- 1:17:44Speaker 10: Ness Meyer is smart.
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: You can tell that he gets you can think the game,
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: and he can really connection there with Meyer.
- 1:17:50Speaker 10: Will Campbell's dating his sister.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: Relieve, did you know that, Paul. I did not know that.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: That to me is not a connection. But I thought,
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: you mean, like I was thinking, I was thinking of
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: his father is like a coach, Like Will.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: Campbell is dating his sister, that's a connection, But what
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: the family.
- 1:18:07Speaker 10: I did not think any of the quarterbacks looked great.
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: No, I mean the defense. Defense is controlled almost all
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: of the games. You know, eventually the Miami game, you know,
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: got to like twenty seven to twenty four, But even
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: that game, I thought the defense is controlled most of it.
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: And Beck is another one of those guys that a
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: lot of people think as a fresh rounder. You know
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: who did throw the ball? Well, now they didn't face anybody.
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: Is the kid I don't really think all that much
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: of is Drew Aller from Penn State. Yeah, but they
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: played Nevada and they completely dominated side note Will's friend played.
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: Oh my buddy from Bishop Fenwick. When you say played
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: as he did, he played late in the game tackle
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: defensive tackle.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cool. Okay, back to the phones, we go
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: eight five five pats five hundred to see one of
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: your sons, Nolan earlier. We'll go back to him. Nolan's
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: in New Hampshire. What's up, Nolan? Nolan? Wow? Two strikes
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: and you're out. We'll go up to Boston Cream. What's up? Boston?
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: Crean did use a Boston Cream?
- 1:19:11Speaker 15: No more stripes, buddy, it's a home run right now. Okay,
- 1:19:16Speaker 15: I got some trivia for Paul, mostly because I've been
- 1:19:18Speaker 15: listening for almost fifteen years, and I really want a
- 1:19:20Speaker 15: T shirt. All right, It's it's really hard to stump
- 1:19:25Speaker 15: Paul and be fair, but I did my best here.
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: Paul.
- 1:19:28Speaker 15: You locked and loaded there, buddy, I'm ready.
- 1:19:32Speaker 12: Okay.
- 1:19:33Speaker 15: The name what was the name of Jellette Stadium before
- 1:19:37Speaker 15: you left? Bought the naming rights?
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: CMGI Field?
- 1:19:43Speaker 14: Darn it?
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: Okay, come on, I knew that one.
- 1:19:46Speaker 15: Yeah, oh no, oh, trust me. They get more, they
- 1:19:49Speaker 15: get more difficult. Nineteen ninety four Drew Bledsoe through the
- 1:19:54Speaker 15: ball seventy times in a game?
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: Who's the opponent, Paul Minnesota?
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Come on?
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: I thank Evan would have gotten I know it wasn't
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: even born.
- 1:20:05Speaker 15: Okay, I'm not feeling very confident here, but that's okay.
- 1:20:08Speaker 15: Who ended the.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: Forty five for seventy for four to twenty one and
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: two touchdowns, no picks, no sacks, overtime touchdown pass to
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: Kevin Turner. In case you want to know any more
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: about that.
- 1:20:19Speaker 15: Game, I think Paul Knight might need an assessment. Was
- 1:20:23Speaker 15: that the spectrum this memory is crazy?
- 1:20:27Speaker 13: Okay?
- 1:20:28Speaker 15: Who ended the Patriots twenty one game Witten streak Pittsburgh?
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: What week and what year Week seven of four?
- 1:20:40Speaker 15: I had Week one, but no, it wasn't that.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: It could be wrong, definitely wasn't wasn't a week one?
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: They were six and oh and ty Law Brocus.
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: Wasn't it around Halloween?
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: Yeah? I thought it was weeks I thought there was
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: six and oh. Now it could have been week eight.
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: They might have had a buye.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: I don't remember that.
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: I don't remember the forf I'm pretty sure that they
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: were six and oh and they lost at Pittsburgh. Yeah,
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: they got They got blow blowed out at Pittsburgh. As
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: Evan Emmitt Smith would.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: Say, what happened in the playoffs, they blew Pittsburgh out.
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: Pittsburgh got blowed out.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: They take all right, Boston Cream, you're on the hook.
- 1:21:13Speaker 15: Heah, No, this is my last last attempt here to
- 1:21:17Speaker 15: stumpfall in two thousand and seven. In the two thousand
- 1:21:20Speaker 15: and seven season, who is the only team to come
- 1:21:23Speaker 15: within three points of defeating the team during the regular season?
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: I think that's a trick question.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: Who was the only team to come within three points?
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: So Philadelphia lost? Philadelphia lost by three, But I thought
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: baltimoreill lose by four? Maybe, Okay, Yeah, Philadelphia I'm gonna
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: say thirty one, twenty eight.
- 1:21:47Speaker 15: Okay, I'm starting not to trust my sores here.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: Okay, that might be wrong.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Right, Well, what's your huh?
- 1:21:54Speaker 15: But it was twenty four to twenty to the cold
- 1:21:57Speaker 15: the story, I said three, it was four points.
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: Okay, chez, I want to say cheez. I want to
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: say that was an aj feely game for Philadelphia thirty
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: one to twenty eight.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: What was the final score? That Samuel was a huge?
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: Oh, that was thirty eight, thirty five. That was another
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: three point game.
- 1:22:13Speaker 10: Twenty four to twenty Colts's correct, thirty one twenty eight, Philly.
- 1:22:16Speaker 10: Paul got that one.
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: That's why I said it's a trick question, because I
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: thought there were more three point.
- 1:22:20Speaker 6: Games Baltimore twenty seven to twenty four of the following week,
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: thirty eight, thirty five Giants.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: There's three three point games in a four point game?
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, not every game.
- 1:22:30Speaker 15: I can't stump the guy.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: Yeah, try again, Okay, Boston Kareem, thanks for the call. Man,
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: send them a T shirt anyway, Man, send the man
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: a T shirt.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: I want to be charitable.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: Anyone who listened for fifteen years, you know what the
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: hell right?
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: Why not give him a T shirt.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: All right, we got a ton of emails, A ton
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: of emails.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Why don't you read something I will.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: We'll start with Claudio Teichman, who's writing in from Brazil. Think,
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: uh no, that's yes, he is. He's from Brazil. He says,
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: did the Patriots play with white jerseys on Sunday? Doing so,
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: it forces the Raiders to play with black jerseys. I
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: remember twenty ten home opener against the Bengals. We played
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: with white jerseys.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: So if it's really sunny, they did in two thousand
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: and eight too, when Tom Brady got hurt.
- 1:23:20Speaker 10: So I don't think it's going to be hot enough
- 1:23:22Speaker 10: for that. This isn't this is in South Florida.
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: Well, we talked about like regular trivia if it has
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: to do with anything attire.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: I like you all right, But what patches were they
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: wearing on Week one two thousand and eight when Tom
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: Brady got hurt. Every team in the NFL had a
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: patch on their jersey for Week one. One team wore
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: to patch the rest of the year, but only one
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: game everybody in the team had a patch on there.
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: You remember what that patch was?
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: Let me think, no picture Brady, you know he drops
- 1:23:51Speaker 10: back two thousand, Oh, we got hit in the knee.
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: They're wearing white jerseys. There's a random, big circle patch
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: on them, commemorating a certain someone who passed away his
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: initials longtime NFL PA raider.
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: Oh, Gene Upshaw.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: Guh. I was gonna say bront workware, but.
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that was always that. I wouldn't say the labor thing.
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: I would gu that was always the Brady like whenever whatever.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: Watching random NFL highlights and you see like a game
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: where the two teams have the goo patch on.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: I'm like week one, So I go to in ninety
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: four they all had seventy. Whenever I see those highlights,
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: I'm like, God, that was from the ninety four.
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: So you go, bust the cream. You could have taken
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: my question. You would have he would have gotten the
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: T shirt. Well we got a T shirt anyway, didn't he? Congratulations?
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: Do we send into Canada?
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: Any of you guys watching the Cowboys documentary series?
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: Watch I've got it downloaded. I haven't started it yet.
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: I have to watch the final one. I watched the
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: first seven. It's it's not bad. It's not bad. It's
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: like any other documentary you have to sort of. I
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: say this all the time. I'm you decide do I
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: want full access or do I want the unvarnished truth.
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: Generally you don't get both, right, and they have a
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: lot of access. Yeah, you know, so, I do think
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: Jerry Jones tries to portray himself in a manner in
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: which I would say is a little bit yeah, disingenuous.
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: But it's worth watching. It's worth watching.
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: I've got it downloaded.
- 1:25:22Speaker 10: That man loves a press conference. Watching the Micah Parsons
- 1:25:27Speaker 10: trade press conference, I was like, this is like theater.
- 1:25:29Speaker 10: I couldn't shut it off.
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: The other part of it is it's really true to
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: today because of that, because when you're watching it and
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: you're like, oh these things, he went through this thirty
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: years ago, and it's the same thing happening now.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: I was pretty surprised Parsons actually moved.
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: So we didn't talk about that at all. Oh, a defensive.
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: Tackle, I mean good defensive tackle.
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: I think it's a good trade. I mean I think
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: it potentially can be a good trade for both sides.
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: I wouldn't have done it if I were Dallas. I
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: think I just think he's too good of a play
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: to willingly.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: Just so you're saying you would have paid them.
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: I would have paid him that contract.
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that's what they were going to do.
- 1:26:07Speaker 10: Yeah, I can I actually can see both sides.
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: I can see both sides.
- 1:26:11Speaker 10: It's a really good haul. I mean, first round pick.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: I just thought about the herschel Walker thing, that's what
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: everyone was thinking of.
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: But it's nothing compared to that. You know, that was
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: eighteen players.
- 1:26:21Speaker 10: I know thet it's different.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: It's a part of that trade. They got a whole
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: there's a part of that trade that I and again
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: you get reminded of these details when you watch like
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: a documentary like this. Do you know that they got
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: like five players from Minnesota in addition to like I
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: think it was like two or three first round picks
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: or whatever. That there was like a handful of picks
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: plus five players. But as part of the deal. Ev
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: you'll love this because I know you don't remember this
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: because again you weren't alive.
- 1:26:49Speaker 10: I don't think I was actually for this one.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: They made an agreement. Dallas made an agreement with Minnesota.
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: If any of those players gets released after the season,
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: they will they will require additional draft picks. So Dallas
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: had no intentions of keeping any of these players. Mike Linn,
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: who was the GM of the Vikings at the time,
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: said yeah, yeah, you know you'll you'll keep those players.
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: And he didn't believe them, and he goes, no, no, no,
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: And that's how they got all the additional first round picks.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Right from from that, they got Aikman right then they
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: get three.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: No, I don't think it was they got Smith. I
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: think it was Emmitt Smith is the only one of
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: the big three. But they have like Darren Woodson, I
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: mean Hall of Fame players. I want to say, like
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: Darren Woodson, Russell Maryland, guys like that. They mean the
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: core of their team they built there. I think some
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: of the linemen were part of those, but it was
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: ended up being eighteen players.
- 1:27:45Speaker 10: But trades like obviously you're not times have changed.
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: You're never going to see something now, right, But it's
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: I think it's a good haul for Dallas. And I
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: think if you're green Bay, you're a really good team.
- 1:27:57Speaker 5: You kind of stuck behind some other really good teams
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: and maybe this puts you over the top. So I
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: understand what Green Bay is looking at. It is like
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: we're going to be picking from what twenty five to
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: thirty two ish, so the two first round picks. Yeah,
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: no one wants to lose first round picks, but end
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: of the first round probably if everything goes right.
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: And if and if somebody told you you're going to
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: hit on a Micah Parsons on one of the next
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: two first round picks, would you take that bet?
- 1:28:24Speaker 10: I mean his age helps too, Like he's only twenty seven.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: I mean, these players don't come along off and that's
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: don't get a lot of these deals with guys in
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: that prime like that, and there's like, you know, people
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: want to say, like, oh, Brandon Iyuk, you know, like
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: and they know that those are good players and stuff,
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: but there's just like AJ Brown, Michaeh Parsons, there's a
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: select handful of Khalil Mack, true special Khalil Mack trade
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: and people look at that and what did you do
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: for Chicago?
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: It wasn't because of Khalil Mack. He was really good
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: for the Bears for a couple of years and he
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: was I think only twenty seven at the time.
- 1:28:53Speaker 10: Parson's a better player, yeah, better all around.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: H Dana. When Chicago writes in Pumped it's finally game
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: week question, does Morgan Moses not being a captain mean
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: they expect Marcus Bryant to overtake him at right tackle
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: in the near future.
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: I wouldn't look that much into it, but I was
- 1:29:09Speaker 6: surprised that Morgan mos wasn't a captain. Yeah, but I
- 1:29:13Speaker 6: wouldn't jump to that conclusion about it being depth chart related.
- 1:29:16Speaker 6: I just I don't know, so obviously something else related.
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: But yeah, that was interurprised too, especially as we've been
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: in the locker room a little bit more. And you see,
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: I don't mean this in a negative connotation, like he's
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: a little bit of a pie piper, Like he seems
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: like he's talking to everybody and everybody checks in with him.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: And I saw him like just busting Kaden Wallace as chops.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: You know, it seems like he has those vibes. But
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: I was surprised that he wasn't.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: Cody writes in the One Elephant in the Room for
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: me is are we getting close to hitting the panic
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: button on whatever is going on with Gonzales.
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: I wouldn't hit the panet really. I mean, I think
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: he's definitely concerned and it's not ideal, but I still
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: stick with what Paul's kind of say, like I want
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: him for the bulk of the season. I want to
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: end the season well, like I don't want to rush
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: him out there and put everything we have to get
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: a Week one win over the Raiders and then he's
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: lost for the season. You know, I'd rather have him
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: one hundred percent at the end when you're gonna win
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: games and maybe put a nice whatever it could be
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: nice finish to the season, whether it's you know, preventing
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: someone from making the playoffs, making the playoffs yourself, just
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: finishing with a couple of wins that give you some
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: confidence going into the next offseason.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: Okay, a lot of uniform stuff. I guess the Rivalry's
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: release last week got people thinking. But David Mayne a
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: lot of Peppers emails too. I too was surprised by
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: the cutting of Drabrill Peppers. This is David Maine. I
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: said that already. My first thought was that Putts Elliott
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: we Wolf cut the wrong safety, followed by shot that
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: they couldn't have at least traded him for something. Now
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: I tend to think that they were saving money for
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: someone special. Do you think, yeah, Nuggets, do you think
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: that they are just budgeting for Gonzales next year, followed
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: by may or do you or do they want to
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: have cash at the trade deadline? Or maybe both? What
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: do you guys think? By the way, congrats on hiring Claudia.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Unfortunately Claudia is not with us anymore. Uh. Claudia was
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: offered and accepted a job with CBS.
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: S Fred out did himself and his kingmaking or queen
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: making abilities. It didn't even take a season.
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: It took two shows, two shows with us, and boom, Yeah,
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: she's going. She's moving to Florida to work for CBIN
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: what I was getting. I really liked her. They saw
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: her on our show, and CBS hired her.
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: That's CBS network. I believe she's going to be on Saturdays.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: So I'm not exactly sure. I think the h Q show.
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: I think she mentioned to us, Mike, So yeah, I
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: been working looking out for that.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: She's like a good kid. So I'm working on at
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: her house for her. I'm working on it.
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: Mike, you're up this week, just me and you, buddy,
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: you call me. We don't need we don't need no hosts.
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: I'm ready.
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: Hey, Uh, you know, we don't want you if you
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: don't want to be part of this show. It's just
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: me and Mike. By the way, we're down together. Bro
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: won twin Powers.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: One more quick joke though, like the Jabil Peppers post
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: where it was like, I've been through seven different head coaches.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: Like it felt like somebody be like, I've been through
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: seven marriages. I know what it takes to make it work,
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: you know, like, I don't know if you're making I
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: know what.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: His point was about the same thing, but I do
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: like I've been through seven head coaches. I don't think
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: that means what you think it right, right, I wasn't listening.
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: The guy's been in the league for eight or nine years,
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: he's been with seven different head coaches. I don't think
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: that's a feather in your cap, right. I think that
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: means you've been around a lot of losing yep.
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: I mean he said it. He's never won a playoff game.
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: He's you know, I don't know he's played in the
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: playoff robin.
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: He's never had a winning season, winning season.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: True.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: See now Mike will now take part in that because
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: he's no longer on the page. I don't snap back
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: at me when I said that Paull texted me.
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Paul texted me, they're like saw your fear loss, which
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: a few people did while I was on Friday sitting
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: on the beach, just which.
- 1:33:10Speaker 10: I love how he puts that in there, like I
- 1:33:12Speaker 10: wasn't even painted.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: I'm yeah, But I texted pallback it was all it
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: was all downhill after he started wearing the Garden Games.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: That's when I was out. It's all about fashion produced
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: Robin in the Caskills. I've heard different opinions about how
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: Josh is going to use Drake. Will there be designed
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: runs for him or do they not want him to run?
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: Do you think he'll run more or less than last year?
- 1:33:38Speaker 10: I think there will be more runs by design. I
- 1:33:40Speaker 10: think the goal is to run less overall, but more
- 1:33:44Speaker 10: runs by design. I think in particular like their low
- 1:33:47Speaker 10: red zone goal line package. I'm very excited to see
- 1:33:51Speaker 10: that come.
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: To life because I agree with everything you just said.
- 1:33:54Speaker 10: I think there's gonna be some cool bells and whistles
- 1:33:57Speaker 10: once they get inside the five to punched them in
- 1:34:01Speaker 10: that Drake will be involved in.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: Well, Kim Newton twenty twenty, Well you're getting your next
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: email ready, Freddie.
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: I wanted to go back to a couple of emails
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: ago about the Peppers release and just blame for Elliott Wolf.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: No one legitimately believes that Elliot Wolf had anything to
- 1:34:19Speaker 5: do with releasing Jabrill Peppers, do they.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure he was in on the decision,
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: but it was Rabel's decision.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: Right, I mean, if the head coach, I'm sorry if
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: I'm not being disrespectful to Elliott Wolf, but I think
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: that's a head coach decision, right.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: The GM isn't going to tell the code coach who
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: doesn't fit in his scheme, right.
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: Right, even if it's about scheme, not about scheme whatever.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: I want to release this guy, and it's not about
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: the cap. It's not about the cap, it's not about
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: anything in the future. They decided, you know, I think
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: Rabel just wants his guys.
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: Wasn't Travis and West Virginia and Josh McDaniel's twenty fifteen offense,
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Deon Lewis was out of a cannon, averaging seven carries
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: and seven targets per game through the first seven games.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Can Trevion Henderson approach the same volume right away or
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: will he need to build up to it?
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: Seven carries. Absolutely can do that. Yeah, I just don't
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: think he can be between the tackles every down back.
- 1:35:17Speaker 10: I think he's gonna touch the ball at least fifteen times.
- 1:35:19Speaker 5: But you want to give him ten to fifteen touches
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: a game, I think you can. Absolutely.
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: It's an interesting calm. I mean it's Dean Lewis was
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: much smaller, but more Yeah, it was different player, but
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: still just the willingness to give a high volume of carry,
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: high volume, but a significant volume of carries and touches
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: to a guy that I mean they caught up with him, right,
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: I mean he couldn't stay healthy getting hurt.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but it was dynamic for.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: Us that run against Dallas, remember that one where he
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: was like just stucking under guys.
- 1:35:49Speaker 10: Remember, well, different players but similar in times of usage.
- 1:35:54Speaker 10: I could see that. But Dian Lowis is a pretty
- 1:35:56Speaker 10: high volume back for them.
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: Rabels played him over Dereck Henry, who situationally the only
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: brighter flash with Jonah Derek Henry.
- 1:36:08Speaker 12: It is what it is.
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: Remember Jonas Gray for that one game against.
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: Two hundred yards.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: Jonas Gray has been around a lot. We've got no
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: I don't know, he's a great guy.
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: Though I can't get but I can't get him out
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: of my feet.
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: He's an ambassador, he's a good guy. Yeah, we've gotten
- 1:36:23Speaker 6: to meet dude, like.
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: He's always wearing when you guys the hype guys when
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: seeing him draft draft party stuff, And we did a
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: draft party with him, and I think that's where we
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: kind of got to still like a little time in
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: the in the green room as they call it, Paul
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: in the in the TV industry, we hang jonas every time.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: Those green rooms. You spent a lot of time in
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: green rooms.
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: I have Oh yeah, do they have those at the NBC?
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: Waiting to go on? Is there a green room at
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: your show's note eight point five On the side, there's
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: no waiting area.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: There's there's different places that you can go, but I've
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: never been. It's like it's like an office. On one side,
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: there's a little small area with a couple of computers
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: where generally the next show kind of congregates. So like
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: if I'm doing the ten to two show, yes, I'll
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: sit in this little area I see and there's a
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: couple of computers over there where Tom Morrigan and Tyler Milliken,
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: the two producers of the ten to two show. They're
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: on their computers, get stuff ready. But I wouldn't call
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: it a green room.
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: Okay, it's pretty cool that works on a big show.
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: Joseph and Hillsboro, Oregon to ten am yesterday.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: I urge you a little different, bringing in different the
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: pels flowing like five point thirty.
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: I did have a Celsius for I have my first
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: ever Celsius.
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: Got a little bump out of that.
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: I don't really feel like I did, but really it's
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: that doesn't taste bad though.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: No, but how did you not get a bump out
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: of that? Because that's like ten times more caffeinated than pei.
- 1:38:01Speaker 10: Kind of bumper bumper, you know, I didn't energy bump.
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: I didn't notice anything. But I don't know. So you
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: know a little bit about Celsius. I did not a
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: sponsor A little bit. I'm not saying anything.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: I think pe Okay.
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: I just don't want to make I don't want to
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: get in trouble like so if you have like two
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: of those, you probably shouldn't. I was gonna say f no,
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: but no, no, okay, no, That's why I was asking no,
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: because I I definitely want I definitely wanted another one
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: because you know, like I usually in shows, I wanted another,
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: Like I drink a lot of diapesty.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: That's the thing about you, though, I forget. You don't
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: just have one diet pepsi.
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: You have like ten, I've had two.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: You are having a celsius.
- 1:38:43Speaker 5: I'm not necessarily to do it, but ten that's a stretch.
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: Well not really.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: But I had one celsius and I liked it.
- 1:38:50Speaker 12: It was good.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't notice like I was waiting to feel
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: like my heart start pounding out of my chest and
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: my eyes because I don't drink those energy drinks.
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I had the kids all stuff, and I
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: feel it.
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never I've never had a celsiate my whole life.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: That was my first.
- 1:39:05Speaker 10: You should not have you drink like three things of
- 1:39:08Speaker 10: a duncan nice coffee, And.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: He starts doing a little dance. Yeah no, there's the
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: gritty in the.
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: Compet to day for me.
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: Actually did have a coffin.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: Sorry I did.
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: I stopped the Duncan I did anyway.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: Joseph is in Hillsboro, Ore. Again. He says, when our
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: defense is fully healthy, what eleven do you envision most
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: consistently being on the field in third and long situations.
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: They have Barmore, Williams, Chase, Chase On, Chase on Splaine Splaine,
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: and then yeah, but like who's the who is the six?
- 1:39:39Speaker 6: Landry Davis, Austin Woodson, Hawkins, Marcustration.
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I just like we're talking about these a lot.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: I'm not really saying key on White much like I
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: just I wonder if he's he could be in the
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: mix for one of those interior ushpots. You know what
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: I want to bring up, though, is Barmore because he's
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: been he's been, Like I don't think anyone talks about this.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: He's been in and out of practice all summer long.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: He's misfund practice. Is he going to step right in
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: on Sunday and play eighty percent? I find that guard
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: to believe. I found it hard to believe.
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: The almost you almost never do that opening day anyway.
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: But especially he might have like a third down because
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: we talked about who's going to start, and I was
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: looking at Barmore and I'm like, it could be Tonga,
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: it could be just Tonga and Williams, and then Barmore becomes.
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: But I'm going to guess Pete Carroll's going to want
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: to do what Evan says that Josh McDaniels is going
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: to want to do, and it's going to be feed
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: Ashton Genty And if that happens, if that's what they
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: look like they're going to do, Tonga is going to
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: be in there.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: Maybe the new guys you bring up Pete Carroll, we
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: haven't really talked about him, the new head coach of
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: the Raiders. Are the Raiders of well coached team? I mean,
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: you got Pete Carroll's head coach. You got Chip Kelly, right,
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: yea coaching their offense.
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: And Patrick Graham and Patrick Friend.
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: I know you hate that term, but is that is
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: that a well coached team? Like on paper?
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: Shoot?
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so. I mean, it'd be
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: really interesting to me to see what Chip does. I mean,
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: it's the first time he's in the NFL in almost
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: a decade. Twenty sixteen with the Niners is the last time.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: But he's been known to be innovative, right he has.
- 1:41:18Speaker 6: But I actually think that he's gone the other way
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: because his offenses really weren't NFL conducive. They weren't really
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: pro style, so you know, they they really slowed down
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: the pace a lot at Ohio State last year and
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: went under center more and you know, did a lot
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: more pro style elements to their offense to try to
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: win a national championship. So I think that there the
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: offenses that you saw him run like in Philly and
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: in Oregon, that offense is dead. He's kind of gone
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: away from that. So what he does is going to
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: be interesting though. But you know, I think it's a
- 1:41:51Speaker 6: big unknown about this game. Guys hasn't coached in the
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: NFL in ten years. You know, It's yeah, it's unknown
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: for sure.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: Ran Idaho. As the beginning of the regular season is
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: upon us, I'd like to reignite an old argument the
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: weekly picks need to stay. I love the segment of
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: the show and enjoy hearing your insight on each matchup.
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: Might I suggest one thing to make the pick segment
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: even better? I would love it if you would add
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: a future to allow listeners to submit their picks and
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: compete with each other as well as with the ball knowers.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: Maybe there could be a weekly prize for the fans
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: with the best picks, and a prize at the end
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: of the season for the overall winner. I think This
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: would make it so much fun to be able to
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: interact in a small way be part of the show. Plus,
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: I'd love to have bragging rights over fans like Christian
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: in La James Pettigrew the most interesting Patris fan of
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: the world in Patty and Agawam. But how do you
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: do that without really slowing it down?
- 1:42:47Speaker 10: Well, you know, they could submit them online, but I
- 1:42:49Speaker 10: don't think maybe it's like more like a newsletter thing
- 1:42:51Speaker 10: that where we could like, yeah, show some of the
- 1:42:55Speaker 10: picks of the fans. Like, I don't think to your
- 1:42:58Speaker 10: point it would be too slow to do it on
- 1:43:00Speaker 10: the show.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: I mean there might be something there for some type
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: of fan engagement.
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe we're the top five fan records, you know.
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: I don't know if any place does full picks though,
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: like we do it like where it's you're literally picking
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: all fourteen sixteen games, and survivor pools are obviously really popular,
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: but that's a different animal, that's a different sort of thing.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so, uh, pat Nagawam a little uh listener on
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: Listener Crime. Here he says this is for Travis in
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: West Virginia. Don't ask real football questions because it displays
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: your intelligence or lack thereof, stick to doing what you
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: do best, crapping on me the subject matter of the
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: offseason and being the general malignant turd with incorporeal takes.
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: In corporeal, Yeah, I don't know that word incorporeal.
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: I don't know. Anyway, you're smart.
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: You went to Holy Cross, Mighty Travis.
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: Does Travis wrap on Patty and Aguamal. I don't even remember.
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: I don't even remember what his football question was. It
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: was it that dumb I don't remember. I don't know.
- 1:44:12Speaker 5: I'm still trying to figure out what that word means.
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: Let's see, Zach, I was literally going to make a
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: joke that Claudia will be gone halfway through the season.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: Two shows, not even one regular season show. That's nuts, Fred,
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: congratulations to her.
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: It means not composed of matter, having no material existence.
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: Okay, that's dark.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: I don't hear you unless you knock first.
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: Darius brings something up that's interesting from Louisville, A little
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: question observation. While everyone is worried about brock Bauers, my
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: biggest concern will be asked in genty. The dude looks
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: like a tank. Deuce can attest to that, and I'm
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: not sold on our run defense yet. Hopefully we'll be
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: able to stop the run in fronnel the offense to
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: our defensive strengths quarters in D line. So what's the
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: deal on genty? What kind of summer did he have?
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: And should we be worried?
- 1:45:07Speaker 6: I think it's an interesting like kind of weakness on
- 1:45:11Speaker 6: weakness in some ways, because I don't know if the
- 1:45:13Speaker 6: infrastructure's there with the Raiders right now to really have
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: a great running game in terms of the offensive line
- 1:45:19Speaker 6: and things like that. So I don't know if they
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: necessarily have it set up for him quite yet to
- 1:45:25Speaker 6: be a true you know Derrick Henry, Like, did we
- 1:45:29Speaker 6: got to worry about this guy type of thing the preseasons?
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:45:33Speaker 10: He can't go off much, but he didn't run the
- 1:45:35Speaker 10: ball particularly well in the preseason, and they.
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: Were, to Evan's point, dead last in rushing last year
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: with a lot of the same offensive linemen. So I
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: don't know how much better, you know, I don't know.
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: I don't know how many changes they've made on the
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: offensive line. I shouldn't say with a lot of.
- 1:45:49Speaker 10: Them, I'd be more worried about them throwing the ball
- 1:45:51Speaker 10: to Genta, yeah, than him running it.
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: But I but I do, I do feel like that's
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: a sneaky weakness for this Patriots defense just stopping them.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: I think they're a little bit smaller, a little bit
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: more athletic based, and sometimes those teams can be susceptible
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: to the run. And gent d breaks tackles.
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: It's great, that's what he does. It's a great philosophical
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: question and one that we've talked about a lot where
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: you had that old heavy defense with the Patriots that
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: felt like it was built to stop the run, and
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: consistently they had good run defenses. But you know, is
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: it going to work that Let's just let them have
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: some of the run and we know we're going to
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: challenge the pass. We know we're going to get after
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: the passer run all four downs, all three downs. They're
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: going to make some plays, they're going to gash us sometimes,
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: but at the same time, we think we're going to
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: be aggressive enough in the play to offset those plays.
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: I just I don't know how it's all going to
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: come out in the wash. But it's just really interesting
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: shift in philosophy.
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: And you guys know how I feel about the running
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: game in general, if you're a really good running team,
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: that generally means your offense doesn't score a lot, right, right,
- 1:46:50Speaker 5: And I know there are exceptions, Okay, I understand. You know,
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: Baltimore runs the ball really well and they score a
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: ton of points. I get it. But in general, turn,
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: if you want to run Ashton genty you know, twenty
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: five plus times, you're probably gonna put the game around
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: you know, somewhere between fifteen and twenty five. Can you
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: win a game twenty four to twenty? Sure? Why not?
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: Well?
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: I think it also, just like to your point about
- 1:47:18Speaker 6: running the ball, if you don't have a running quarterback,
- 1:47:20Speaker 6: if you're a traditional run team, like we're just going
- 1:47:23Speaker 6: to go under center, the quarterback is going to turn
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: the ball over to the running back. Like those teams
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: typically the Paul's pointer are lower scoring. Baltimore does it
- 1:47:31Speaker 6: because Lamar runs, So like that's a different thing. Buffalo Buffalo,
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: same thing with Josh Allen. So you know those are
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: I don't think Gino Smith is a true threat. Not
- 1:47:41Speaker 6: that he's immobile, but I don't think that he's that.
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: He's everybody's covered. I'm gonna run not right, Yeah.
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: He's he runs, you know as the last resort not
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: Undesigned runs.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Eric in Rochester, New York, like every other member
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: of Patriot's Nation, can't wait for the full slate of
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: games this Sunday. With that said, wanted to play a
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: small game, if you will. I'd love for each of
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: you to predict the two biggest stories coming out of
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: this Sunday. One Patriots related, one non Patriots related. That's
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: something you have to kind of think, Oh, man, off
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: the top.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: Of your head, what do you what do you what
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: do you want the what do you want the result
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: to be?
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean, what's the biggest story? Drake may is.
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: Poised for a monster sophomore season with that'd be a
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: great development if that's what we're talking about. Yeah, come
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: come four oh five, when the three of us are
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: doing the post game show, that'd be a great development.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: They were the past rush was excellent. They were all
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: over Gino Smith all game one. You couldn't get anything going.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: That to me sounds realistic.
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: But Baltimore.
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: Has established it, you know, for the league wide one
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: Baltimore thing plays at Buffalo right, Yep. Baltimore established itself
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: as the front runner for the Super Bowl with an
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: impressive Week one win. Yeah, because I think Baltimore stacked.
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that seems doable. How much of this game with
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: the Patriots?
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: What?
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: Let me put it this way, because we were talking
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: about the Raiders coaches, We didn't talk about the Raiders owners.
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: Fill in the blank. We'll know that Tom Brady had
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: something to do with this game plan.
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: If blank, Oh, you know Smith the rise with a
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: funny outfit on that.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard to say because like it's not I mean,
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: I guess maybe he could dissect Josh's like Josh's offense
- 1:49:31Speaker 6: for the Raiders defensive coaching staff and like reverse engineer things,
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: but that even feels like a stretch, Like if it
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: was built, I think that would be different. But like,
- 1:49:41Speaker 6: I don't know how much he knows what Rabel's really
- 1:49:45Speaker 6: thinking and doing.
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: Uh you know.
- 1:49:47Speaker 4: It was one of my favorite lines from Forest and
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: Fox Bro was when Rabel was with Brady on the
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: sidelines and Brady was like, I went a little funny
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: with this one, and Rabel like, listen, I'm sure you
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: did that cracked me up so good. That's how funny.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: I guess you had to be there. But to me,
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: let's go watch it.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: Those conversations was awkward.
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: They're well, I just it was funnyhen we were watching
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: it because we're like, jeez. I was like, Tom's got
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: some jokes tonight, Like you know, after that inspiration that
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: you think it came out with.
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: You don't do that?
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: It's what I would say, is I know it?
- 1:50:21Speaker 10: But then the roast style speech was all right.
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: Let me put my other question a different way. Do
- 1:50:27Speaker 3: you think Brady is talking to any of the coaches
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: about the game or is he too busy with Fox
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: and he's not even I mean, like, what's he going
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: to tell?
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: Like how much does he know that they don't know?
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: I think he could help with the Josh stuff. Like
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: you Evint said, I just don't know how much he's
- 1:50:46Speaker 5: invested in I'm like, I know it sounds silly, but
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: he's a minority owner.
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's a minority owner who's the greatest quarterback,
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: who really does.
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: Fox, that's really what his job is. So I don't
- 1:50:58Speaker 5: really know how much invested he is in the Raiders
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: right now. I don't know the answer. If he's heavily
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: invested in the Raiders, I could see him doing what
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: Evan said. Listen, I've went around that at that offense
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: a long time. You do these three things and you
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: can really neutralize it, right. I could see him doing that. Yeah,
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: I just don't know how much he's involved.
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I just don't know if that that really exists.
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: Eric also has a question regarding the Patriots fan clubs.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: What happens to a club if the person running it
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: goes dark. I live in Rochester, New York, and I
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: was trying for a few weeks to get a hold
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: of the person who runs the fan club here, only
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: to find out that they've stopped. Can someone else take
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: over the club or can there be multiple per city?
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: I know I've heard other Patriots fans from Rochester right in,
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: so I know we're here. I just want to enjoy
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: the games with other like minded fans in Western New York.
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: I mean, you can take it, or you can just
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: start your own in Rochester. But we need to look
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: into that because if no one's running that club, we
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: need to get it out of the registry on pages
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: dot com. And if you want to start a new
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: one Rochester, New York.
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: Just or if he wants to run that one, yeah,
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: he wants to take over this existing one. Ye, but
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: is that allowed?
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: I mean there's members there. I mean I don't know
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: if there's how the club was run in the past,
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: like there's elections.
- 1:52:16Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't know every club runs it's like a timeshare.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: Yeah, damn politics always Yeah, Andre says Paul's the best. Secondly,
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: how many points do you think the team will average
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: for the season over under twenty five passes and over
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: under twenty five touchdown passes for Drake may over over that?
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: And how many points per get play average?
- 1:52:42Speaker 5: How many points per game five and a half.
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: Nineteen?
- 1:52:48Speaker 5: I don't know who I can tell you. Twenty four
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: point three points per game.
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: Sounds right, very precise.
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: I was a friend answer.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: I think last year they averaged Oh that's that.
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: Can't be right.
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: Honestly, it was like sixteen.
- 1:53:06Speaker 10: I was gonna say six.
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: Sixteen, So I'm averaging eight more points per game.
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: Twenty twenty fourteen points ambitious.
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: So twenty twenty four they had how much sixteen points
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: per game? That's terrible.
- 1:53:19Speaker 10: We know, it's just horrible.
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: Oh and I know they should have won eight or
- 1:53:22Speaker 5: nine games, right, Yeah?
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: Yeah, they were done in twenty twenty one. They were
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: twenty seven point two. That's that's pretty good.
- 1:53:28Speaker 10: Yeah, twenty twenty one is a good offense.
- 1:53:29Speaker 5: Yeah, some outliars, Yeah, of course, some couple some or
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: one hundred and fifty and three games right offense Cleveland
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: Jacks like that.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: I mean, I can see how it's kind of skewed.
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: David, the Philippines, please stop drinking so much diet soda,
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: he says. I used to do that until I had
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: a stroke, never touched the stuff. Since the chemicals they
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: put in diet soda are worse than sugar for your health.
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: For all of us who want to continue to hear
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: your insights for many years to come, please switch to
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: something better for you. I personally go with water. Now
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: that's no fun, all.
- 1:54:03Speaker 5: Right, appreciate it.
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of concern for Gonzales. We share that concern,
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: right do we?
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: Some of us have had concern for a while.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: Yep, Joel and San Antonio. I'll make this short since
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: we have picks this week and we have to hurry.
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: Question for Paul, are you familiar with a broadcaster named
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: Dan Weiss. He's a fellow Northeastern University alum, been working
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: for the Spurs for a while was just named radio
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: play by play to succeed the great Bill Shooning, who
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: retired after the season ended.
- 1:54:39Speaker 5: Dan Weiss, you know Dan Weiss. I do not know
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: that name.
- 1:54:43Speaker 12: No.
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: No, he got a job without you having a say
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: in it. You know, from Northeastern.
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: There's a lot of people that got jobs without me
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: hearing a saying that. But I don't. I'm not one
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: of them. I stay here with you, okay.
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: Loyalty Tim and Boston rights dow. He says, Patriots twenty one,
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: Raiders seventeen. We'll get into our picks on Thursday, so
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: that's okay. They can do it. He says, I got
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: married on Saturday, relation I'm now on my honeymoon, relaxing
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: with my wife on the Cape.
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: Nice and you're sending emails into father Fred.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: You were number my number one trusted source for restaurant recommendations,
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: especially in Cape Where can we find the best lobster
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: roll near Hyanna's? Cy Do you spot Fred near Hyennas
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: Chowder would be good for Parker's, But if you want
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: the best lobster roll, it's a little bit of a
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: hike from Hyanna's. But go down to Falmathery and go
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: to the Raw Bar. They've got the best. Of course,
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: they've got the best.
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: What'swear across from Captain Parker's right there on twenty eight.
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: The Big Boat. Yeah yeah, this guy from g L
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: Barber his brother in law owns that restaurant.
- 1:55:55Speaker 10: He owns the restaurant.
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Interesting, it's either his brother or brother in law
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: owns the rest it's the river side. They're both famous, right, Yeah,
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: looks like a big boat restaurant.
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: There's also the Pirates ship museums there which I would
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: like to hit. Just recently found out about that.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: But lobster roll, I mean there's a lot of good
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: lobster rolls on the cape, don't get me wrong.
- 1:56:16Speaker 4: Stuet Harbor, that's uh, that's a famous one great location.
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: Scargo Cafe.
- 1:56:21Speaker 4: I went to Scargo Cafe, yeah on Friday.
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: But this placed the Raw Bar in. It's in the
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: foul Myth area. It's a little town within I forget
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: the name. It begins with a P. I think Papaesse. Yeah,
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: I think it's Papa Esse it but look up the
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: Raw Bar if you want the lobster role, and they
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: got steamers. You can't go wrong.
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: They got the Steamers.
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't go wrong.
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: That's like like Joe Murray from the Sports Hub, you know,
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: just ask him like, yeah, I'm way to go on
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: the Cape now.
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he knows, he knows north Shore, south Shore, he
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: knows everything.
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: He knows literally, any place you could mass, any place
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: you could bring up, he'll give you at least two.
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's amazing. All right, quickly there, He's got a
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: lot of quickly, a lot of trivia questions for Paul.
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: I wanted to do it real.
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: Quick, real quick, and you got Sam On from Easton
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: on them.
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: All right, we'll go to we'll go to the phones.
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: We'll go to the phone.
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: I want that trivia question too.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: Though, Sam's and Easton what's up? Sam?
- 1:57:25Speaker 11: Hey guys, how's it going?
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: Sam?
- 1:57:29Speaker 11: I'm just curious what you guys think the stat line
- 1:57:31Speaker 11: will be for the Rookie contributors on Sunday. I'm a
- 1:57:35Speaker 11: season ticket holder and I'll be there in person, so
- 1:57:37Speaker 11: looking forward to seeing those guys.
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: Sounds like stat lines for the Rookie contributors.
- 1:57:42Speaker 5: First we have to pencil in Henderson who contributor?
- 1:57:46Speaker 11: Yeah, Henderson Williams, And I guess you could throw Chism
- 1:57:50Speaker 11: in there. If you think he's gonna play, I think.
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: You'll get nothing.
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: I won't play.
- 1:57:54Speaker 13: Uh.
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: I hard to see Williams doing anything much. Maybe one
- 1:57:58Speaker 4: or two catches if you even get ten. I think
- 1:58:01Speaker 4: Woodson's gonna play a lot. I think Campbell and and
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: Wilson are going to play a lot.
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: I just thought we were talking about the school guys Henderson.
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: What did that guy say earlier, like, you know, ten
- 1:58:11Speaker 5: to fifteen touches, seven carries, seven targets. I could see
- 1:58:15Speaker 5: something like that in one game.
- 1:58:17Speaker 4: True. Yeah, Okay, what about Balis and the long snapper?
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: He'll have you.
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: I was thinking we were doing over I'm not sure
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: he'll be active.
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: Sounded like I don't know to find out more about
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: the overall health of the roster, but there's gonna be
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: some guys that are inactive. And you go in five
- 1:58:39Speaker 5: deep at wide receiver, that might be a spot where
- 1:58:42Speaker 5: you might get in inactive.
- 1:58:43Speaker 10: Yeah, I agreed.
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: Yepism seems like he's still heard. I mean, I know
- 1:58:48Speaker 5: he's been he's been out there right.
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but he's scout teaming it up. I think he's
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: he's he's one of her in actives probably probably.
- 1:58:54Speaker 10: He doesn't have a role really on special teams, so
- 1:58:56Speaker 10: other than as.
- 1:58:56Speaker 5: A back, he's really just a returner.
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Well we'll be back tomorrow Wednesday, and

- 1:59:11Speaker 3: to say that we're going to glean a lot from that,
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: but at least we might be able to get some
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: attendance going and we'll see who's out there for that.

- 1:59:38Speaker 5: the place. In their defense, thank you, they have to
- 1:59:40Speaker 5: adjust to the actual team.
