- 0:40Speaker 1: Welcome man, everybody, thanks for being with us. A sportion
- 0:42Speaker 1: of the program brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Coming up, a lot of basketball. We're gonna hear some
- 0:52Speaker 1: postgame react from the Georgia coach, and we've got our
- 0:58Speaker 1: writers' roundtable and cease are in for the second hour
- 1:04Speaker 1: of the program. My thanks to everyone who helped guide
- 1:10Speaker 1: the ship for the last week or so. The top
- 1:15Speaker 1: twenty five is out. A and M still didn't make it,
- 1:19Speaker 1: but hey, I wouldn't worry about that. It's not important
- 1:23Speaker 1: right now. It'll be more important in March. It's not
- 1:28Speaker 1: important now. Six of the first sixteen or from the
- 1:34Speaker 1: Big twelve, five of the top twelve are from the
- 1:37Speaker 1: Big ten, three of the top eighteen or the ACC
- 1:45Speaker 1: and the SEC right now is down to four teams
- 1:47Speaker 1: between fifteen and twenty five. Now, I understand that A
- 1:53Speaker 1: and M jumped in in the coaches were they at.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Others receiving votes there? Treyad of.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So they're at twenty six basically, yeah, so.
- 2:06Speaker 3: A and M's right there.
- 2:08Speaker 1: They're twenty five at the coaches poll. I know all
- 2:11Speaker 1: of the releases now will use the coaches poll. I
- 2:15Speaker 1: don't like the coaches poll. I don't trust the coach's poll.
- 2:19Speaker 1: The coaches poll mostly is done by sids and not coaches.
- 2:25Speaker 1: There are very few coaches that take this stuff seriously.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They don't watch enough basketball. They only watch the teams
- 2:32Speaker 1: they're about to play. So I don't like the coaches poll.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Doesn't matter. Like I said, Arizona's still one, unanimously. Michigan
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yukon Duke Illinois, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Houston, Nebraska, Michigan State, Kansas, Purdue,
- 2:56Speaker 1: Texas Tech, North Carolina ven Built is the highest rated
- 3:02Speaker 1: SEC team at fifteen, then BYU Florida, which looked like
- 3:09Speaker 1: a number one team yesterday. By the way, we are
- 3:11Speaker 1: gonna hear from Florida coach Todd Golden coming up. They
- 3:14Speaker 1: just destroyed Alabama yesterday. Virginia, Saint Louis Clemson, Arkansas, Saint John's,
- 3:24Speaker 1: Miami of Ohio. They're unbeaten. Only Miami and Arizona are unbeaten.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Louisville and Tennessee coming in at twenty five tonight. North
- 3:36Speaker 1: Carolina hosting Syracuse and ooh, this is a good big
- 3:40Speaker 1: Monday game Kansas and Texas Tech. I don't know if
- 3:46Speaker 1: the Kansas kid's going to play or not. I have
- 3:49Speaker 1: a friend that's a big KU person. I texted him
- 3:53Speaker 1: during the game when he's setting out the second half.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I said, look, this guy's a snowflake. He is so
- 4:00Speaker 1: worried about getting.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Hurt before going to the NBA.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He's great, he's a great player when he's on the court.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Kansas is a whole different team, but I wouldn't trust
- 4:13Speaker 1: him I don't trust him now. I sure wouldn't trust
- 4:16Speaker 1: him in March. Don't trust him. Texas Tech in Lubbock.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I like teching this game. I tell you what, Texas Tech,
- 4:26Speaker 1: in my mind, is a Final four caliber team. There
- 4:31Speaker 1: I just mentioned. I'm gonna tell you Arizona. I'm gonna
- 4:38Speaker 1: name teams that I think are Final four caliber teams. Okay, Arizona, Michigan, Yukon, Duke, Illinois,
- 4:48Speaker 1: Iowa State, Houston, Michigan State, Texas Tech. In my mind,
- 4:57Speaker 1: those teams are four caliber. And I'm about ready to
- 5:02Speaker 1: put Florida in that mix. Yesterday that was a Final
- 5:07Speaker 1: four caliber effort by Florida. I don't they do that
- 5:10Speaker 1: every game?
- 5:10Speaker 3: Probably not?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Speaking of which, Alex Condon co SEC Player of the
- 5:17Speaker 1: Week with our men. Rashawn Ag. Rashawn Ag right now
- 5:25Speaker 1: is an All SEC performer and now we talk about
- 5:32Speaker 1: this every year. The SEC is and football conference, so
- 5:35Speaker 1: they always put eight or nine guys on their SEC
- 5:37Speaker 1: first team. They haven't They don't understand only five people
- 5:41Speaker 1: played a time in basketball. The SEC still doesn't get
- 5:44Speaker 1: that because there's still a football conference. So they put
- 5:47Speaker 1: eight or nine guys on their first team.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It doesn't work that way.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Rashawan ag is the first team First five All SEC
- 5:55Speaker 1: player right now. There's no doubt about that. I mean,
- 5:59Speaker 1: he went for eighteen and fifteen Saturday, and if that
- 6:03Speaker 1: wasn't enough, he ended out seven assists. He almost had
- 6:10Speaker 1: a triple double. I mean, that doesn't happen. And he's
- 6:14Speaker 1: a post guy. He is just killing it. And Tennessee
- 6:20Speaker 1: forward Nate a Mien Freshman of the Week average twenty
- 6:25Speaker 1: and a half points, seven boards to assist. They beat Auburn,
- 6:30Speaker 1: they beat Georgia. Weren't that good against Auburn? Okay, guess
- 6:40Speaker 1: who is back?
- 6:43Speaker 3: Mark?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Turgen Sessena's going to be He's not listing right now,
- 6:48Speaker 1: but Sessen's going to be here next hour. We're going
- 6:53Speaker 1: to play a drinking game every time, he says Turjon.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I've got Gator eight here with me, So Trey, what
- 7:03Speaker 1: do you have water? Okay, We're gonna play a drinking
- 7:06Speaker 1: game every time, Sessa says Turjhon, Right, remind me all right.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He's agreed to a five year contract to become the
- 7:19Speaker 1: new head coach at Kansas City. I bet you didn't
- 7:24Speaker 1: even know Kansas City had a basketball team. That's probably
- 7:30Speaker 1: why John is there Jacksonville State in Wichita State. He
- 7:36Speaker 1: was one hundred and fifty three and fifteen. Came to
- 7:39Speaker 1: Texas A and M. He was good here. He just
- 7:42Speaker 1: didn't like it here. From the first day. He never
- 7:45Speaker 1: liked it. He didn't like you, He didn't like anybody
- 7:48Speaker 1: at Texas A and M. Went to Maryland and.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I just got a text from Rusty Berson.
- 8:04Speaker 1: He's in on the drinking game, by the way, and
- 8:07Speaker 1: he's bringing.
- 8:08Speaker 3: More than Gator eighty said.
- 8:09Speaker 1: So this is an interesting story. Men's basketball coach at
- 8:17Speaker 1: Tuskegee University was taken off the court in handcuffs Saturday.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Videos posted by HBCU Game Day show Taylor confronting a
- 8:29Speaker 1: security officers officer as players from Tuskegee and Morehouse College
- 8:35Speaker 1: exchange handshakes after the game. After a brief exchange, the
- 8:41Speaker 1: officer placed Taylor in handcuffs and let him off the court.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Taylor and Tuskegee athletic director Reginald Ruffin both stated Taylor
- 8:50Speaker 1: asked the security officer to help remove multiple more House
- 8:56Speaker 1: football players from the handshake line. Taylor said in a
- 9:00Speaker 1: statement the football players were yelling obscenities, while Ruffin added
- 9:04Speaker 1: the football players were creating quote a security breach, so
- 9:10Speaker 1: naturally they arrest the opposing coach. Michigan coach Dusty May
- 9:17Speaker 1: and Michigan speaking of fighting it out, Dusty May and
- 9:21Speaker 1: Tom Izel are accusing each other of playing dirty. During
- 9:25Speaker 1: the wolverines eighty three seventy one win Friday night. I
- 9:29Speaker 1: watched that game. Okay, two really good teams, really good teams,
- 9:36Speaker 1: final four worthy teams. During one sequence, Michigan State guard
- 9:44Speaker 1: Jeremy Fears made contact with Yaxel Lidenborg appeared to trip
- 9:49Speaker 1: the Michigan star. May said it was an intentional appeared.
- 9:53Speaker 1: He said, it wasn't an illusion. I think there were
- 9:56Speaker 1: several players that are very dangerous. I'm incredibly proud of
- 9:58Speaker 1: our guys for the response that they had to some
- 10:01Speaker 1: of those situations. Proud of their self control, their restrength,
- 10:05Speaker 1: their impulse control. When he was made aware of May's comments,
- 10:10Speaker 1: is Or pushed back, said the Wolverines had gotten away
- 10:12Speaker 1: with their own questionable acts. Look, first of all, it's.
- 10:16Speaker 3: A big ten.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I like the officiating of big ten. I don't like
- 10:20Speaker 1: the big ten. I've said that before. There's a bunch
- 10:25Speaker 1: of huge, slow, unathletic guys that pound each other. Okay,
- 10:30Speaker 1: it's not really basketball to me. There's a little skill
- 10:33Speaker 1: woven in. Okay, there's enough skill wound end that these
- 10:36Speaker 1: guys are dangerous. Okay, but there's a lot of big guys.
- 10:44Speaker 1: If if you played that game Friday night with SEC officials,
- 10:49Speaker 1: they'd still be playing. There would be like four hundred
- 10:54Speaker 1: fouls called. Because SEC officials don't know the game. They
- 10:59Speaker 1: don't know how to referee the game. They don't know
- 11:02Speaker 1: how to deal with athletic people who jump, and every
- 11:07Speaker 1: time somebody breeds on somebody, they blow a whistle. And
- 11:11Speaker 1: even when they think they're going to breed on somebody,
- 11:15Speaker 1: they blow a whistle. And it's hard to watch. They
- 11:17Speaker 1: screw up the game badly. Said it before, Say it again.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I don't know why a league that prides itself in
- 11:28Speaker 1: trying to be the best conference in major collegiate sports
- 11:37Speaker 1: can't get officials worthy of their game in either basketball
- 11:43Speaker 1: or football. But they cannot. I don't know what it's hard.
- 11:46Speaker 3: It's hard.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I watch Big twelve basketball, I watch ACC basketball, I
- 11:51Speaker 1: watch Big ten basketball.
- 11:53Speaker 3: They don't have these issues.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I'm not saying there aren't bad calls. There's always bad calls. Right,
- 11:58Speaker 1: guys are going to screw up, They're going to make mistakes.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I'm just talking about consistency. I mean, you put SEC
- 12:08Speaker 1: officials in that Michigan Michigan State game. I promise that
- 12:11Speaker 1: game would still be going on. And who's old enough
- 12:16Speaker 1: to remember the secret newsletter under coach friend with Mike McKenzie.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Ask somebody older if you don't know what I'm talking about.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Brent Swerneman uncovered that. If I'm not mistaken, and I
- 12:34Speaker 1: seldom in well. Today A and M announced the launch
- 12:40Speaker 1: of the Aggie Football Club, an exclusive new membership program.
- 12:46Speaker 1: The differences they're doing it publicly, you're paying for access, okay,
- 12:53Speaker 1: plain and simple. I don't know how this is different,
- 12:59Speaker 1: except that the newsletter quote unquote was quote secret and
- 13:04Speaker 1: it made people. Oh there you go. You pulled it
- 13:07Speaker 1: right up. See you just google A and M newsletter.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It just comes right.
- 13:12Speaker 3: What year was that?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah? Those were the days two thousand and seven.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 13:20Speaker 1: Nineteen years ago? That is not possible. Ah, the Coach
- 13:24Speaker 1: fran days. Ah, the Mike McKenzie days. But I guess
- 13:29Speaker 1: A and M figures Hey, it's been nineteen years. We're
- 13:33Speaker 1: doing it publicly. We got us a new secret newsletter.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Congrats to them. We'll take a break, We'll come back.
- 13:41Speaker 1: This portion of the programs brought to you by and Co.

- 14:14Speaker 5: for tomorrow.
- 14:14Speaker 1: If you miss tech SAgs Live, you missed.
- 14:17Speaker 6: I think the question for A and M and I
- 14:19Speaker 6: don't even know if Buck you would have this answer
- 14:21Speaker 6: is all right, you need a basket?
- 14:24Speaker 7: Who's your go to guy?
- 14:25Speaker 4: I'm trying to think who would it be?
- 14:27Speaker 7: Would it be Pop?
- 14:28Speaker 3: Would it be Ag?
- 14:29Speaker 7: I mean, if you need somebody to take that last.
- 14:31Speaker 8: Shot, it might be Dominga Is I think in the
- 14:33Speaker 8: last Striffin lately to me like you start the offense
- 14:36Speaker 8: through AG. In a half court set, you start the
- 14:38Speaker 8: offense through AG and depending on what the defense does.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Techas Live brought to you by David Gardner's Jewelers hang
- 14:44Speaker 1: Out weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone. Thanks
- 14:49Speaker 1: for being with us here on the program. Tomorrow we
- 14:54Speaker 1: will preview the Wednesday game at Alabama with the Aggie
- 15:01Speaker 1: basketball team. Yeah. I don't know why A and M
- 15:08Speaker 1: is unranked. I was, you know, I was thinking about
- 15:12Speaker 1: their losses. Oklahoma State's a bad loss. Central Florida is
- 15:18Speaker 1: not a very very bad loss at all. Who'd they
- 15:22Speaker 1: just beat Texas Tech? They just knocked off Texas Tech
- 15:26Speaker 1: this weekend? You see, Yeah, they're pretty good. Right, they
- 15:34Speaker 1: lost SMU. SMU is a real nice team, and they
- 15:41Speaker 1: lost to Tennessee at Tennessee.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Right, What am I missing?
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'm missing one more? Yeah, there's four. I'm missing one more.
- 15:54Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. But I guarantee some of these other
- 15:59Speaker 1: top twenty five teams. Yeah, house that is in you
- 16:04Speaker 1: you see Oklahoma State.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
- 16:08Speaker 1: That's the fourtant I mean three of them, three of
- 16:11Speaker 1: them aren't. They're they're okay losses. There's one bad loss.
- 16:15Speaker 1: That's Oklahoma State, and by their own admission, Bucky mess
- 16:20Speaker 1: setting mess that up. They've been traveling, you know for weeks.
- 16:25Speaker 1: They had no legs when they went in there. He
- 16:27Speaker 1: had worked them too hard. Uh, it was early in
- 16:31Speaker 1: the year and they had nothing. I mean, you're you're
- 16:36Speaker 1: you're doing a game like that right especially in November December.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Sometimes those things happen in February and March too. Louisville
- 16:46Speaker 1: has six losses, Tennessee has six losses, Arkansas has six losses.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Florida has six losses. Now, I know Florida and Arkansas
- 16:55Speaker 1: they've played helaicious schedules, so I get that part. But
- 17:04Speaker 1: come on, let's see. There are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
- 17:14Speaker 1: Eleven of the top twenty five teams have four or
- 17:18Speaker 1: more losses right now, okay, and I hadn't gone through
- 17:24Speaker 1: all of them to see what are good and what
- 17:26Speaker 1: are bad. Again, a lot of these teams have played
- 17:28Speaker 1: really really hard schedules. I get that part of it,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but come on, they're leading the league. They're six and one.
- 17:36Speaker 1: They should be in the top twenty five. They will
- 17:39Speaker 1: be in the top twenty five eventually, and again, I'm
- 17:43Speaker 1: not that concerned about it, all right. I like to
- 17:46Speaker 1: hear the opposing coaches. You don't get to hear that
- 17:49Speaker 1: very often. You just hear A and M coaches, And
- 17:53Speaker 1: that's fine. We're gonna play Bucky in a minute. But
- 17:56Speaker 1: I don't want you to listen to Mike White. After
- 18:02Speaker 1: the Aggies came in and beat down Georgia on Saturday.
- 18:06Speaker 9: So think our fans had fought the elements and the
- 18:09Speaker 9: cold and snow, and it was it was a really
- 18:12Speaker 9: surprising atmosphere. I did not anticipate that many people. I
- 18:15Speaker 9: didn't anticipate it being that loud, and our our fans
- 18:18Speaker 9: were great. We got off to an awful start, the
- 18:20Speaker 9: worst start we've.
- 18:20Speaker 10: Gotten off to.
- 18:23Speaker 9: In a long long time. I don't remember being down
- 18:27Speaker 9: that much that early in a game, and our fans
- 18:31Speaker 9: helped us had our chances to cut into it further
- 18:35Speaker 9: both late first half mid second half. Texas sanem was better.
- 18:40Speaker 9: I mean, that's why they're that's why they're winning the league.
- 18:44Speaker 9: They're really really connected, they're tough, they spread you out
- 18:48Speaker 9: with a bunch of shooters. I thought we did a
- 18:51Speaker 9: good job against a high level pressure team. You know,
- 18:54Speaker 9: It's impressive how they how they jammed the basketball one
- 18:57Speaker 9: through five and can turn you and and get to
- 19:00Speaker 9: your legs. And our guys did a good job with
- 19:02Speaker 9: some of those things. But overall, again our attention to detail,
- 19:05Speaker 9: with defensive rebounding, with shot selection, it just wasn't very good.
- 19:11Speaker 10: I mean, we go seven to twenty.
- 19:12Speaker 9: Eight from three and I'd like maybe about half of
- 19:17Speaker 9: those back.
- 19:17Speaker 10: Honestly, it's in our guys defense.
- 19:21Speaker 9: When you're playing from a large deficit, you know, sometimes
- 19:27Speaker 9: emotions can get the best of you with with shot selection,
- 19:30Speaker 9: with offensive decisions and some of those possessions. But just
- 19:35Speaker 9: shot a poor percentage and trying to come back and
- 19:42Speaker 9: played with a ton of energy, forced fourteen turnovers.
- 19:45Speaker 10: But as we're.
- 19:46Speaker 9: Trying to overcome some of those shots there mid to
- 19:50Speaker 9: late second half on the other end were.
- 19:53Speaker 10: We got beat back door a couple of times. We
- 19:55Speaker 10: had a couple.
- 19:57Speaker 9: Poor wallups that led to layups, a couple uh poor fires.
- 20:01Speaker 10: That led to one led led to an one. It
- 20:03Speaker 10: was a one on two.
- 20:04Speaker 9: I mean, m just our physicality on the interior has
- 20:07Speaker 9: got to continue to improve.
- 20:09Speaker 10: I've never uh L been more excited about uh A
- 20:12Speaker 10: bye week.
- 20:13Speaker 9: Uh to get back to practice tomorrow.
- 20:20Speaker 11: You might do it.
- 20:21Speaker 3: I think that that's you too.
- 20:23Speaker 10: That's where football anounced you.
- 20:24Speaker 11: But I guess it was a couple of seasons ago.
- 20:26Speaker 9: Kirby talked about, uh, mental bandwidth and you you guys
- 20:29Speaker 9: have just gone through a bit of.
- 20:30Speaker 10: A ringer with Yeah, Texas Tennessee now a first place
- 20:34Speaker 10: A and N team.
- 20:34Speaker 12: Is is there something to it as far as maybe
- 20:36Speaker 12: where your guys are at mentally?
- 20:38Speaker 10: I know you just said.
- 20:38Speaker 9: Yeah, mean that we evolved, Yeah, I C I couldn't agree.
- 20:42Speaker 9: Uh more, Mike, we're we're not in the same place mentally.
- 20:45Speaker 10: Uh that we were had some.
- 20:49Speaker 9: You know, just had some poor decisions offensively and defensively,
- 20:51Speaker 9: and just again I d we weren't as connected and
- 20:54Speaker 9: I I don't mean it to to to oversimplify it, uh,
- 20:59Speaker 9: but it's it's such a big part of our game
- 21:02Speaker 9: at this level, especially in the SEC. A and M's
- 21:08Speaker 9: about as connected as any team that we've played, probably
- 21:11Speaker 9: more so the most connected team we've played. And they'll
- 21:15Speaker 9: continue to be. I'd be surprised if they didn't continue
- 21:20Speaker 9: to have success with you know, they're older, they're skilled.
- 21:25Speaker 9: We talked about it, they're tough, they take the right shots,
- 21:29Speaker 9: they pass it well. I mean, ag had seven assists,
- 21:33Speaker 9: fifteen rebounds, and we you know, we've shown signs of
- 21:39Speaker 9: better decisions at times, but at times, excuse me, but
- 21:43Speaker 9: the grind of the sec these last few games, our
- 21:46Speaker 9: schedule has been ramped up. Of course, we've had chances.
- 21:49Speaker 9: We lost a couple of really close ones.
- 21:53Speaker 10: But our guys are resilient. We've got to clean up details.
- 21:56Speaker 9: But our guys, they'll be ready to work this This
- 21:58Speaker 9: team really works, and we'll accept messages tomorrow.
- 22:03Speaker 10: We'll learn from film. We'll have a good practice.
- 22:10Speaker 13: Dylan and Blue were just saying they felt like there
- 22:11Speaker 13: was a lack of urgency.
- 22:12Speaker 7: How would you evaluate that aspect?
- 22:14Speaker 10: I couldn't agree more.
- 22:15Speaker 9: I mean, from the opening tip, I don't know how
- 22:17Speaker 9: you have a lack of urgency when you put up
- 22:21Speaker 9: on the whiteboard six and one first place. I got
- 22:24Speaker 9: a chance, despite how the last game went, had our chances,
- 22:30Speaker 9: lost a tough one, and now you got the first
- 22:33Speaker 9: place team in the league. And we're had two good
- 22:35Speaker 9: practices too, two good practices. But sometimes that happens where
- 22:42Speaker 9: you know, a really good team just gets the best
- 22:44Speaker 9: of you early, and you know, I could sit here
- 22:47Speaker 9: and talk about all the things we didn't do really
- 22:48Speaker 9: well text SA A and aam's good.
- 22:50Speaker 10: They're good.
- 22:51Speaker 9: And they missed a couple of those early, and we
- 22:53Speaker 9: made a couple of those layups and a couple of
- 22:55Speaker 9: the open threes early instead of it being I don't
- 22:57Speaker 9: know what the square was, twenty two to two or
- 22:58Speaker 9: something at one point is twenty and he could have
- 23:01Speaker 9: easily been ten at that point, and maybe you don't
- 23:04Speaker 9: have as.
- 23:04Speaker 10: Big a hole to crawl out of.
- 23:06Speaker 9: But the way they started the game is really the
- 23:09Speaker 9: story of the game. I mean, credit them, Bucky and
- 23:13Speaker 9: staff doing a great job, and we play some similar styles.
- 23:17Speaker 9: You know, respect the way they play, and they were
- 23:20Speaker 9: really good today.
- 23:25Speaker 10: You're like, just stop those minutes. Did they chopped down? Yeah?
- 23:29Speaker 9: Tough matchup for him and Justin Apsen defensively when they
- 23:32Speaker 9: with their ability to stretch you with five guys and Age's.
- 23:37Speaker 10: He hasn't made a lot of threes this year.
- 23:39Speaker 9: He makes two today but spaces you with his ability
- 23:45Speaker 9: to pass it and drive it. You're really tough matchup
- 23:49Speaker 9: for our conventional fives. And then they you know, they
- 23:52Speaker 9: bringing back up fives. One in particular was was Clements
- 23:57Speaker 9: coming into this game, who's coming off the game where
- 23:59Speaker 9: he made sevens.
- 24:01Speaker 10: As a backup five. So, uh, we.
- 24:05Speaker 9: Were intentional about wanting to play Dylan James and in
- 24:11Speaker 9: Kareem Stag some minutes at the five. We thought it
- 24:13Speaker 9: would help us defensively. In Samto obviously had his struggles
- 24:18Speaker 9: with with finishing at the rim, and so we rode
- 24:23Speaker 9: the line up. We rode late game in again we're
- 24:25Speaker 9: playing from behind, so some of those decisions weren't maybe
- 24:30Speaker 9: as as conventional as some of the others in other games.
- 24:35Speaker 14: What about a Dash and Jordan on zoom?
- 24:39Speaker 15: So we you talk about, you know, kind of losing.
- 24:42Speaker 9: The right mindset you know right now?
- 24:44Speaker 16: Is that something is couldn't say I get to the win,
- 24:48Speaker 16: can cure of this?
- 24:48Speaker 17: Something else to happen between now when y'all play the
- 24:51Speaker 17: next game and kind of turn that aspect.
- 24:53Speaker 10: Around, you know, I think that that.
- 24:58Speaker 9: A lot of the the answers I and give you
- 25:00Speaker 9: we've already been through and you guys cover us closely,
- 25:04Speaker 9: and all of you, I'm sure do a great job.
- 25:08Speaker 9: But our details with this team, our level of focus
- 25:11Speaker 9: at times have have hurt us, you know, especially with
- 25:15Speaker 9: defensive rebounding coming in this game where three twenty eight
- 25:17Speaker 9: in the country in defensive rebounding, and we do all
- 25:19Speaker 9: kinds of rebounding drills and block out drills and emphasize
- 25:21Speaker 9: it and watch clips on it, but the buy into
- 25:25Speaker 9: those details. I think we got off to such a
- 25:27Speaker 9: good start offensively this year and scoring so many points,
- 25:30Speaker 9: and some of these guys received some accolades, you know,
- 25:35Speaker 9: and there's some hype around the way we're scoring it.
- 25:38Speaker 9: Maybe at this point, after hitting this adversity, you have
- 25:40Speaker 9: a week to really hone in on some of those details,
- 25:44Speaker 9: but even offensive details, and we have to understand we've
- 25:47Speaker 9: got to do it together. We've got some talented individual
- 25:49Speaker 9: players Texas A and M does too. But they move
- 25:52Speaker 9: it and they and they turn it, and they cut
- 25:55Speaker 9: and they drive it and they kick it, and they
- 25:57Speaker 9: got good looks.
- 25:58Speaker 10: They got better shots than we and.
- 26:03Speaker 9: We, especially when playing from behind, we can't continue to
- 26:07Speaker 9: try to hit grand slams any sec against these defenses.
- 26:11Speaker 9: That's that's why we shot the percentages that we shot, so.
- 26:15Speaker 10: That detail.
- 26:17Speaker 9: All of the little details offensively in terms of what
- 26:20Speaker 9: our system is and when I'm supposed to be in
- 26:21Speaker 9: the corner, and when I'm supposed to be filling, and
- 26:25Speaker 9: when I'm supposed to flash to the elbow, and when
- 26:27Speaker 9: I throw it to the elbow where.
- 26:28Speaker 10: I'm supposed to go.
- 26:29Speaker 9: All of those little details probably along complimented mostly defensively
- 26:34Speaker 9: again with defensive rebounding, are things that we can improve upon, and.
- 26:40Speaker 10: This team will, they'll work at it.
- 26:42Speaker 9: They will how bought in will be we'll see, but
- 26:44Speaker 9: that that factor will be a determinant factor and how
- 26:48Speaker 9: this team finishes and to what level this team progresses.
- 26:53Speaker 9: But it's a resilient program. We're gonna jump right back
- 26:59Speaker 9: at it. We got all opportunities right in front of us.
- 27:01Speaker 9: This program lost four games two different times last year
- 27:05Speaker 9: in a row, you know, and uh, we're gonna.
- 27:09Speaker 10: Keep at it.
- 27:09Speaker 9: We've got some really good guys and we've got enough
- 27:11Speaker 9: talent to to uh to bounce back and get him
- 27:16Speaker 9: anxious to get back to work. Quick follow up like, yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 9: just just it was one of those It wasn't intentional,
- 27:28Speaker 9: it wasn't premeditative.
- 27:30Speaker 10: It was a This was a game where.
- 27:37Speaker 9: Your offensive focus starts with press attack, and your bad decisions,
- 27:43Speaker 9: your maturity employees verse pressure and full court press and
- 27:47Speaker 9: running and jumping.
- 27:47Speaker 10: And I thought.
- 27:50Speaker 9: Jay Bailey made a big impact on the game when
- 27:54Speaker 9: we were when we got off to a really tough start,
- 27:57Speaker 9: and then Jeremiah, I knew it would be a a
- 28:01Speaker 9: a high possession game.
- 28:03Speaker 10: I thought he was in a pretty good rhythm. He's
- 28:05Speaker 10: just just felt decent about the guys.
- 28:10Speaker 9: That have been given opportunities. And if one of those
- 28:12Speaker 9: guys were really struggling or gotten into major file trouble,
- 28:15Speaker 9: it might have been different. But Jake is, Jake's doing great,
- 28:18Speaker 9: had two good practices. He'll keep working and and keep developing.
- 28:26Speaker 8: Jing them wiser than we're.
- 28:29Speaker 18: You mentioned a few minutes ago something.
- 28:31Speaker 4: So he's had a couple of quiet.
- 28:32Speaker 6: Games in a ronel and your mom, what's it gonna
- 28:34Speaker 6: take to kind of.
- 28:35Speaker 14: Get him himp backed.
- 28:38Speaker 10: Mentally? He's got to respond better.
- 28:41Speaker 9: I love him, you know, and he's has some huge games,
- 28:44Speaker 9: and he's in his maturity compared to this time last years,
- 28:48Speaker 9: it's night and day. He's come a long way, and
- 28:50Speaker 9: he's a really talented kid. And when we you know,
- 28:55Speaker 9: our decisions are are really important in close those important games.
- 29:03Speaker 10: When you miss a layup at the rim.
- 29:04Speaker 9: We we've we can't have five seconds where we're arguing
- 29:08Speaker 9: with the refs while the other teams laying the ball
- 29:11Speaker 9: like we we have to respond better and sprint back
- 29:15Speaker 9: and move on to the next play. And he's gotten
- 29:19Speaker 9: so much better at that, you know. And he was
- 29:23Speaker 9: just struggling with with finishing a little bit. And again
- 29:26Speaker 9: I thought they were interior a g and some of
- 29:28Speaker 9: those other guys. I think a wing came up from
- 29:30Speaker 9: behind them and in block one of those really good looks.
- 29:33Speaker 10: That he got.
- 29:35Speaker 9: But uh, that's just that's that's one area that he'll
- 29:40Speaker 9: continue to work on to to improve upon. Is is
- 29:44Speaker 9: just our our responses to negative plays, and it's it's
- 29:46Speaker 9: all of us.
- 29:47Speaker 10: It's it's that one just comes to mind. I'm just
- 29:50Speaker 10: trying to give you an answer.
- 29:50Speaker 9: But again, it was a tough defensive matchup for him
- 29:53Speaker 9: as well, with this team kind of an outlier. Not
- 29:56Speaker 9: many teams in our league where I don't think he'll
- 30:01Speaker 9: have an ability to impact the game defensively like like
- 30:06Speaker 9: this one. That'll be it'll be this different. But I
- 30:08Speaker 9: anticipated in him coming back and having a big game.
- 30:10Speaker 1: So Mike White after the loss to the Aggies on Saturday.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Always interesting about what the opposing coach has to say.
- 30:24Speaker 1: I hope you heard that little part. They're really good.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I think every coach that's played them has had a
- 30:34Speaker 1: similar thing. Georgia was doing real well there for a while,
- 30:40Speaker 1: then they weren't. They will have the week off and
- 30:48Speaker 1: they go to L s U on Saturday. That's one
- 30:54Speaker 1: game I won't watch. I watch a lot of college basketball.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I picked my spots a lot of college basketball this weekend,
- 31:03Speaker 1: including yesterday. We're going to talk about that coming up
- 31:06Speaker 1: in a little bit. Florida, Alabama, Todd Golden. You know,
- 31:13Speaker 1: before the game, they were asking him about Bettioco and
- 31:23Speaker 1: he goes, we'll beat him anyway. Love that. They asked
- 31:27Speaker 1: him about it after the game, too so and he answered,
- 31:31Speaker 1: to his credit, he's not backing off of it. So yeah,
- 31:35Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna hear from him coming up here
- 31:39Speaker 1: in a few moments. GALLERYA is the definitive spa in

- 36:09Speaker 1: of the seven and one Aggies in SEC play third
- 36:14Speaker 1: win on the road. Bucky some thoughts after this impressive victory.
- 36:19Speaker 17: Well, we thought if we could get this game to
- 36:21Speaker 17: the last five six minutes, we would play really well,
- 36:23Speaker 17: and we took a total team effort to do that,
- 36:26Speaker 17: and you saw us run away with it in the
- 36:27Speaker 17: at the end of the game. That's kind of what
- 36:29Speaker 17: we thought would happen with our group if we could
- 36:30Speaker 17: just hang around and play hard. Lean on those guys.
- 36:32Speaker 17: They're a good team. Well, coach got good players, but
- 36:35Speaker 17: our guys late really dang good.
- 36:37Speaker 11: You could go to talk about a lot of things.
- 36:38Speaker 11: We will, but the conditioning, because you knew at the
- 36:41Speaker 11: pace neither team's probably played this fast in the game,
- 36:44Speaker 11: and then they did. And I think your conditioning, the
- 36:46Speaker 11: toughness when plays need to be made late, rebounding second
- 36:50Speaker 11: shots was there.
- 36:51Speaker 17: It was there, and that's a tribute to how hard
- 36:53Speaker 17: these guys work in practice. They're obvious and up and down.
- 36:55Speaker 17: Team was really fast. I thought our adaptability played a
- 36:58Speaker 17: factor in this game. You know, we're play man. We're
- 37:00Speaker 17: ever to play zone well, zone demand, and you know
- 37:03Speaker 17: that was really good to see you come on the road.
- 37:05Speaker 17: You made nineteen out of twenty free throws. Uh, that's
- 37:08Speaker 17: a good sign. That's not easy to do on an
- 37:09Speaker 17: SEC road game. And we need every one of those points.
- 37:12Speaker 11: Well, the fact that everybody is on the same page
- 37:14Speaker 11: in this critical stage up the game or the season
- 37:17Speaker 11: or whatever. Rashan being a pressure release took advantage and
- 37:20Speaker 11: took their full court pressure completely out correct.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Correct.
- 37:22Speaker 17: Yeah, we you know we're Cape. We have a now
- 37:25Speaker 17: the biggest team, but we got a skilled team. Even
- 37:27Speaker 17: our fives can handle the basketball and we want to.
- 37:29Speaker 17: We told our guys, you're gonna make some mistakes in
- 37:30Speaker 17: this game, but you just got to get to the
- 37:32Speaker 17: next play. And we did a good job of getting
- 37:35Speaker 17: to the next play. Even when they came back they
- 37:37Speaker 17: cut it to two. You didn't see a panic in
- 37:39Speaker 17: our gud. Just stay the course. We'll look at the
- 37:41Speaker 17: scoreboard in the games over and whatever it is is
- 37:43Speaker 17: what it is.
- 37:43Speaker 11: Well, the other part of about is you talk about
- 37:45Speaker 11: playing aggie basketball, playing bucketball, whatever you want to call it.
- 37:48Speaker 11: The way that they're coach, the attack mode. This is
- 37:51Speaker 11: a team you would think here will try to attack
- 37:53Speaker 11: us but absolutely fearless going back at him.
- 37:56Speaker 17: Yeah, we got to be us and live with that.
- 37:58Speaker 17: But you know a lot of the things with us
- 37:59Speaker 17: is our biggest deals were gonna play as hard as
- 38:02Speaker 17: we can play the time, plays unselfish all time, play
- 38:04Speaker 17: with confidence. You know, some games as at man, some
- 38:06Speaker 17: games is at zone. Some games as a lot of traps.
- 38:08Speaker 17: Some games is it not as much traps. Yeah, but
- 38:11Speaker 17: we're gonna play fearless basketball. And our guys have bought
- 38:14Speaker 17: into that. And you know it's it's easy when you
- 38:16Speaker 17: got a group of guys like we got veteran guys.
- 38:19Speaker 11: Well, you know, you talk about who's it gonna be
- 38:21Speaker 11: on a good of a night and and sure we
- 38:22Speaker 11: can go down the list. We know Jamie provided everything.
- 38:25Speaker 11: You know, Uh, Frederica came in and had a presence
- 38:27Speaker 11: and when he was in, But how about Ali Diba.
- 38:30Speaker 17: You know Ali stayed ready and when Mackenzie got hurt,
- 38:34Speaker 17: he wasn't playing a lot until Mackenzie got hurt. And
- 38:37Speaker 17: you know we talked about this. We can sit around
- 38:41Speaker 17: and pout when when of your better players gets hurt,
- 38:43Speaker 17: or you can have somebody with the next man up mentality,
- 38:46Speaker 17: and that's what this group has had. And you saw
- 38:49Speaker 17: him not known to be a great shooter before he
- 38:52Speaker 17: was here, and I've always thought he could shoot it
- 38:54Speaker 17: because he just needed a little bit of confidence. And
- 38:56Speaker 17: you saw him more importantly with the game on the line.
- 38:58Speaker 17: He was confident letting it rip. And that's about ninety
- 39:01Speaker 17: percent shooting.
- 39:02Speaker 11: Man. You talk about confidence now, but when he has
- 39:04Speaker 11: a chance to wind up to shoot that thing and
- 39:06Speaker 11: you feel pretty good about it.
- 39:07Speaker 15: Set shot Ali so what we call.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Him Ali Diva had fifteen and was three or four
- 39:13Speaker 1: from threes, added six boards. He has just gotten better
- 39:18Speaker 1: and better. I got to tell you, I watched them early.
- 39:22Speaker 1: You know, those first few games. I said, he's a KP.
- 39:27Speaker 1: He can't play. Yeah, that shows you how much I know.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Actually I know a lot about basketball, but I'm missed
- 39:34Speaker 1: on that one. He's just he's really been key. Athletic,
- 39:40Speaker 1: defends rebounds. I said he got six boards. He got
- 39:47Speaker 1: two boards, but fifteen points, only one turnover, a steal,
- 39:52Speaker 1: a block, pretty good and.
- 39:57Speaker 3: A and M gets.
- 40:01Speaker 19: The win.
- 40:02Speaker 1: When you look at it, you go, mah, it was easy.
- 40:05Speaker 1: What was easy the first six to ten minutes wasn't
- 40:10Speaker 1: so easy in the middle part of the game, and
- 40:13Speaker 1: then they pulled away late. And I know I've been
- 40:18Speaker 1: on their case about free throws because they had to
- 40:20Speaker 1: start with Tennessee. They lost the game of the free
- 40:22Speaker 1: throw line. And this team shot free throws well all year.
- 40:26Speaker 1: They had about a three game stretch they just weren't
- 40:28Speaker 1: shooting free throws. Even in games they won, they were
- 40:32Speaker 1: closer than they should have been. They weren't shooting free
- 40:33Speaker 1: throws well. But nineteen of twenty nine, I won't I
- 40:39Speaker 1: won't gripe about that. All right, We'll take a break,
- 40:43Speaker 1: we'll come back. This portion of the program brought to

- 42:20Speaker 22: Plans for later round to name, I'm find a little
- 42:27Speaker 22: Queen new icons, Jeter.
- 42:30Speaker 7: Ray, what's your name?
- 42:34Speaker 11: Hey?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us. We've got the writers round
- 42:37Speaker 1: table coming away here in a few minutes. Yesterday an
- 42:43Speaker 1: unusual Sunday game in the SEC made for tv ABC Florida,
- 42:53Speaker 1: Alabama and He's Gator. Just keep getting better. You know
- 43:02Speaker 1: they they won the Natty last year. They lost their
- 43:06Speaker 1: guards early on. Their guard play has been terrible. It
- 43:13Speaker 1: has gotten so much better. Their front line is a
- 43:20Speaker 1: beast for anybody going into this game. Todd Golden. They
- 43:28Speaker 1: were asking about Tibiaco, the G League NBA guy that
- 43:36Speaker 1: got a reprieve, which is I think the court date
- 43:40Speaker 1: maybe tomorrow, the real court date tomorrow. The Tuscaloosa judge
- 43:48Speaker 1: who was a big donor for Alabama has been forced
- 43:53Speaker 1: to recuse himself. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
- 44:00Speaker 1: I don't know where the NC double A is. They're
- 44:02Speaker 1: cowering in the corner. Remember the days where the n
- 44:09Speaker 1: C double A was like we don't care, suice because
- 44:11Speaker 1: they'd never lost, they never lost a lawsuit. And then
- 44:15Speaker 1: they did and it was a big one. And now
- 44:19Speaker 1: it's like, we don't want any part of that.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Don't get us involved.
- 44:24Speaker 1: It's like, well, you handle a multi billion dollar business here,
- 44:27Speaker 1: you are involved. You have rules, you can enforce those rules.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Now you might get some judges like they got in Tuscaloosa,
- 44:40Speaker 1: but you just keep going up up the ladder. It's going, Hey,
- 44:44Speaker 1: we got a rule book. Rule book says you get
- 44:49Speaker 1: so much eligibility, then you don't and we're not going
- 44:53Speaker 1: to have anybody that's played pro ball playing in our tournament.
- 45:00Speaker 1: So you can say, hey, play Debiyaka Law you want,
- 45:05Speaker 1: but you're going to be ineligible in March. You'll you'll
- 45:09Speaker 1: you'll have an ineligible player, so you can't play in March.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Is that hard? Am I missing something? Is that complicated
- 45:21Speaker 1: to do that? But Golden was great. He goes, hey,
- 45:25Speaker 1: we're going to beat them anyway. Not only did they
- 45:28Speaker 1: beat them, they beat them down yesterday. First time Alabama's
- 45:34Speaker 1: given up one hundred, and this is a team that
- 45:36Speaker 1: scores one hundred and they don't care if you score
- 45:39Speaker 1: a hundred as long as you score one hundred and one.
- 45:45Speaker 1: But Florida, they were awesome yesterday. Here's Todd Golden after
- 45:53Speaker 1: the game.
- 45:54Speaker 14: Yeah, just obviously a great win for a program. I
- 45:56Speaker 14: thought our players did an incredible job just playing with
- 46:00Speaker 14: the great mentality from starting to finish all that. Carlon
- 46:03Speaker 14: Hartman did great. You know, he's had the scout for
- 46:05Speaker 14: the last couple of years and has done a wonderful
- 46:07Speaker 14: job kind of understanding how they tick and kind of
- 46:10Speaker 14: what makes them go. And I thought we had a
- 46:11Speaker 14: really really good game plan to limit their catch and
- 46:15Speaker 14: shoot threes and try to make them beat us otherwise.
- 46:19Speaker 14: And again, when we're at our best, our defense in
- 46:22Speaker 14: the rebounding is leading draw offense.
- 46:24Speaker 4: And I thought we did a really good job.
- 46:25Speaker 14: One of our coaches said, we got eleven straight stops
- 46:27Speaker 14: coming out of halftime, which against that team is absolutely fantastic.
- 46:32Speaker 14: And really just proud of the effort that our players
- 46:35Speaker 14: displayed today.
- 46:37Speaker 16: Does it feel good when you put yourself out there,
- 46:40Speaker 16: we're you know, we're gonna beat them anyways, and then
- 46:43Speaker 16: you go out and you beat them down anyways.
- 46:45Speaker 14: Well, I mean it's a I was. I was thinking
- 46:49Speaker 14: about that a lot last night actually, and you know,
- 46:53Speaker 14: as this was a big, you know, one off ABC game,
- 46:56Speaker 14: you know they were gonna try to find different ways
- 46:59Speaker 14: to stir it up. And you know, I thought when
- 47:03Speaker 14: one of the Alabama beat writers or reporters talked to
- 47:06Speaker 14: Nate about it on Friday, I thought his response, you know,
- 47:08Speaker 14: we're very similar. He's like, yeah, I understand where he's
- 47:10Speaker 14: coming from. Like he's gonna try to kick our ass,
- 47:12Speaker 14: We're gonna try to kick his ass. I don't think
- 47:13Speaker 14: that's news to anybody. But with that being said, yeah,
- 47:16Speaker 14: absolutely right to come out and impose our will the
- 47:20Speaker 14: way we did beat him on the glass. We scored
- 47:22Speaker 14: seventy two points in the paint, and I thought our
- 47:26Speaker 14: guys were in there for one second, two seconds and
- 47:28Speaker 14: then and then we would score it. So we did
- 47:30Speaker 14: a good job taking advantage of our catches down there,
- 47:34Speaker 14: and our bigs were really really good today.
- 47:37Speaker 16: Two zero stretch to start the second half.
- 47:41Speaker 11: About as well as y'all can play full both ends.
- 47:44Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean I think we sixteen Oh, I'm pretty sure.
- 47:48Speaker 14: But with that being said, eleven stops, and yes, we're
- 47:51Speaker 14: at our best when we're able to get clean rebounds,
- 47:52Speaker 14: get out and transition and you know, play that way.
- 47:57Speaker 14: And I think that was a very valuable lesson we
- 47:59Speaker 14: learned last week against Auburn that when we don't play
- 48:02Speaker 14: with the fire and intensity on the defensive end that
- 48:04Speaker 14: allows us to play that way, we're we're not as good.
- 48:07Speaker 14: So we got to make sure that we continue to
- 48:09Speaker 14: focus on that, and I think our players have a
- 48:12Speaker 14: great understanding of that. I thought they showed that today.
- 48:14Speaker 1: You know, a couple of weeks ago when Ales really
- 48:16Speaker 1: struggled here in the opern game, but then comed tonight,
- 48:19Speaker 1: I means, is what has gone into.
- 48:21Speaker 14: It the last couple of weeks for kind of yeah,
- 48:24Speaker 14: I think you know, I think you just had one
- 48:26Speaker 14: bad game against Auburn.
- 48:27Speaker 4: I think he was awesome. Before that. We'd won five
- 48:29Speaker 4: in a row.
- 48:30Speaker 14: We were playing really well, and uh, you know this team,
- 48:34Speaker 14: you know, it's been a learning experience for all of
- 48:36Speaker 14: us because of our expectation earlier in the year. Anytime
- 48:39Speaker 14: something negative happens, whether it's a lost or somebody doesn't
- 48:42Speaker 14: play well or does it shoot well, that that's gonna
- 48:44Speaker 14: be the focal point. And so we talked to Alex about, Hey, listen,
- 48:47Speaker 14: you've been awesome all year. Don't let one game affect
- 48:49Speaker 14: your mentality. I thought he played a great floor game
- 48:51Speaker 14: against South Carolina. He had eight assists in that game, Uh,
- 48:54Speaker 14: and it was really really good. And today, you know,
- 48:57Speaker 14: he looked like a first team All American twenty five seven,
- 49:00Speaker 14: six assists, no turnovers, two blocks, two steals.
- 49:03Speaker 4: That's a hell of a ball game.
- 49:04Speaker 9: Man.
- 49:04Speaker 14: I'm not sure, you know, you can ask for anything
- 49:07Speaker 14: more out of him. And you know, I thought he
- 49:08Speaker 14: was aggressive. I thought he was decisive, and played with
- 49:12Speaker 14: great physicality.
- 49:13Speaker 16: There's not much help to say about Chenilu at this point,
- 49:16Speaker 16: but like that twenty second defensive stop he had at
- 49:19Speaker 16: the end of the first half, and that should be
- 49:21Speaker 16: like teaching tape type of stuff. But like, what does
- 49:24Speaker 16: that show India scouts people?
- 49:25Speaker 7: What does that show about his ability.
- 49:27Speaker 14: To Yeah, I mean it's just he's I think he's
- 49:32Speaker 14: you could argue the best defender in America right now.
- 49:34Speaker 14: Just he's a great paint protector, great in the ball screen.
- 49:37Speaker 14: And listen, like our game plan, I thought our coaches,
- 49:41Speaker 14: as I said Carl, and we did a great job
- 49:43Speaker 14: coming up with a game plan. But the game plan
- 49:46Speaker 14: is only as good as the players can execute.
- 49:48Speaker 4: Right, if we didn't have bigs that.
- 49:51Speaker 14: Were agile, smart mobile, you're you're not gonna be able
- 49:55Speaker 14: to switch them onto Felon and Holloway. Those guys are
- 49:57Speaker 14: great players and they're going to take advantage of that. So, uh,
- 50:00Speaker 14: you know, the way in which Rube Condo Tommy specifically
- 50:04Speaker 14: can move their feet allows us, you know, more rope
- 50:07Speaker 14: ast coaches to think about how to defend teams, and
- 50:09Speaker 14: so it just allows us to expand our our arsenal
- 50:15Speaker 14: and how we guard teams, and you know, I think
- 50:16Speaker 14: that although you know that possession just turns into a
- 50:19Speaker 14: shot clock violation or whatever, it really.
- 50:21Speaker 4: Is more valuable than that.
- 50:22Speaker 14: It you know, gets the crowd in the game, It
- 50:24Speaker 14: gets the momentum.
- 50:26Speaker 4: And it was just a huge, huge play for us.
- 50:28Speaker 17: You guys committed a season low to turnovers today and
- 50:31Speaker 17: then score twenty five all the eighteen turnovers that they had.
- 50:34Speaker 10: How critical was that?
- 50:35Speaker 15: Just given how well they've done in the turnover department
- 50:38Speaker 15: this year.
- 50:38Speaker 4: It's huge. I mean it's a huge.
- 50:41Speaker 14: I think the funny thing I told our team, like
- 50:42Speaker 14: I thought we were sloppy with the ball in transition,
- 50:45Speaker 14: That's how it felt. And then after the game looking
- 50:48Speaker 14: down only two turnovers like that, that's hyper critical, I
- 50:51Speaker 14: would say. But again, like we were you know later
- 50:56Speaker 14: in the season. Now we got you know, around twenty
- 50:59Speaker 14: to twenty one games whatever it is under our belt,
- 51:01Speaker 14: Like we're finally getting comfortable playing together and understanding, you know,
- 51:05Speaker 14: how to stay in our offense and not to settle,
- 51:08Speaker 14: you know, for solid shots, to try to work to
- 51:10Speaker 14: get great shots, and you know, we need to be
- 51:13Speaker 14: a team that wins in the margins and ball control,
- 51:15Speaker 14: whether that's rebounding or turnovers. We were plus eleven on
- 51:18Speaker 14: the glass, we were plus sixteen on the turnover battle.
- 51:20Speaker 14: Like that's you know, twenty seven additional possessions right there
- 51:23Speaker 14: that that we were able to take advantage of.
- 51:25Speaker 12: We'll just talked about the defense of the guards.
- 51:29Speaker 16: Obviously probably the best game here just five on most
- 51:32Speaker 16: efficient guard in America fourteen points.
- 51:35Speaker 19: Not particularly efficient tonight.
- 51:38Speaker 14: Yeah we we you know bug again, like he's a
- 51:42Speaker 14: guy that people want to poke at if he's not
- 51:44Speaker 14: shooting the ball well, but the disruption that he creates
- 51:46Speaker 14: on the defensive side, it is just incredible. Eight steals, Like,
- 51:52Speaker 14: I mean, this is an awesome team that we played,
- 51:54Speaker 14: Like this isn't you know, a November by game. And
- 52:00Speaker 14: he was just taking the ball and in the right
- 52:02Speaker 14: places at the right time, and uh, you know, he's he's.
- 52:05Speaker 4: A gritty basketball player. Man.
- 52:06Speaker 14: I feel like he's defending, uh way more consistently and
- 52:10Speaker 14: physically than he did early in the year.
- 52:12Speaker 4: And he's he's an old school point guard.
- 52:14Speaker 14: Man. It assists one turnover. It's it's really really valuable
- 52:17Speaker 14: in the week game week stretch.
- 52:19Speaker 4: About our game considering how much the starters have played.
- 52:22Speaker 4: How important do you.
- 52:23Speaker 10: Think that is?
- 52:24Speaker 12: Just going to it with some momentum and getting some
- 52:26Speaker 12: rest for these guys who are playing thirty five plus minutes.
- 52:28Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, I think it's uh like we were
- 52:30Speaker 14: able to manage playing time the other night, you know,
- 52:33Speaker 14: and anytime we keep our guys under thirty five, like
- 52:36Speaker 14: we think we're gonna be all right, there's a lot
- 52:38Speaker 14: of medias, there's a lot of timeouts. You know, these
- 52:40Speaker 14: guys are young, they're in good shape. You know, they're
- 52:42Speaker 14: only playing two games a week, and so now we
- 52:44Speaker 14: get into this midpoint of the season and get you know,
- 52:47Speaker 14: a week. The two things that we really need to
- 52:50Speaker 14: work on is making sure our bodies are ready to
- 52:52Speaker 14: go for the back half and making sure we get
- 52:54Speaker 14: better at practice, you know, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, because
- 52:58Speaker 14: we're obviously going in to A and M who's playing
- 53:02Speaker 14: fantastically well, and you know, they're a unique team and
- 53:05Speaker 14: we got to make sure we're prepared for them. But
- 53:07Speaker 14: I think, you know a good time for this to happen,
- 53:09Speaker 14: and you know, we should be able to get refreshed
- 53:12Speaker 14: and on our game for next Saturday.
- 53:16Speaker 4: Chance.
- 53:18Speaker 14: You know, I think our crowd was amazing per usual,
- 53:21Speaker 14: So I don't know about that specifically, but I think
- 53:24Speaker 14: they gave us a huge lift and when we went
- 53:26Speaker 14: on a little bit of run, they did a great.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Job of supporting us.
- 53:30Speaker 14: And as we talked about like we we feel well,
- 53:34Speaker 14: I feel I know guys in our program feel terrible
- 53:37Speaker 14: like when we lose in here. It's an incredible home
- 53:39Speaker 14: court advantage thirty nine out of forty two, and I
- 53:43Speaker 14: think last Saturday left a bad taste in our mouth
- 53:45Speaker 14: that hopefully we won't have to experience anytime soon.
- 53:48Speaker 1: It's Todd Golden and again they will have the week
- 53:52Speaker 1: off preparing for the Aggies Saturday night in Gainesville. Seven
- 54:01Speaker 1: point thirty. Weird start, SEC Network, big week for Aggie
- 54:08Speaker 1: basketball had Alabama Wednesday, turn around at Gainesville on Saturday.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Be interesting week. All right, we'll take a break close
