- 1:03Speaker 1: Brian Rudder. College Station Pflugerville Weiss. By the way, Brian
- 1:12Speaker 1: and Rudder is our tiebreaker game. North Texas at Texas State. Houston,
- 1:18Speaker 1: Texas Tech. SMU, Louisville. Utah State, Utah. LSU, Ole Miss.
- 1:26Speaker 1: West Virginia and Virginia. The Bengals and the Texans and
- 1:32Speaker 1: the Redskins and the Cowboys. Those are the 10 games
- 1:37Speaker 1: that we're picking this week. See, it gets a little
- 1:41Speaker 1: harder now. It gets a little harder. First two weeks
- 1:45Speaker 1: have been a little easy. It's getting a little harder.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And Wills, if you're going to get your name engraved
- 1:52Speaker 1: on Lord Howard's Cup, you're going to have to earn it, people.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You have got to earn it. So you can't win

- 2:06Speaker 1: the contest page, make your picks. You can win weekly prizes.
- 2:10Speaker 1: We'll hand those out on Monday. And again, we're all
- 2:14Speaker 1: trying to get our name on that cup. Friday's Fearless
- 2:19Speaker 1: Football Forecast Contest, America's Most Loved Football Pick'em Contest. It's
- 2:24Speaker 1: a division of Sports Talk, and it's presented by Zwirneman
- 2:29Speaker 1: Flooring and Chad Jones Law. All right. I've just been
- 2:36Speaker 1: looking at some stats here, looking at some Kentucky stats,
- 2:42Speaker 1: looking at some of these other games that I have
- 2:45Speaker 1: to pick, looking at Cessna's Prague poll, which is just
- 2:49Speaker 1: always ridiculous, the games that we have to pick. I
- 2:55Speaker 1: don't consider it a true contest when you have to
- 2:58Speaker 1: pick Austin Peay in West Florida and UConn in Southern Miss.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And plus... who watches the NFL anyway? No one watches
- 3:08Speaker 1: the NFL. I lost four of the five games. I
- 3:13Speaker 1: did so well when we were just picking college and
- 3:15Speaker 1: high school games the first week. And then I lost
- 3:19Speaker 1: four out of five NFL games this week. Uh, there
- 3:23Speaker 1: should be an asterisk about whoever wins this Prague poll that,
- 3:28Speaker 1: NFL games are included in this. Um, Plus, they messed
- 3:35Speaker 1: up my picks. They screwed me out of a game.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I've emailed Cessna, and this is the second year in
- 3:42Speaker 1: a row that I'm doing the Prague poll and the
- 3:45Speaker 1: Eagle under protest. Last year, Gary Blair screwed me because
- 3:51Speaker 1: he changed the rules in the middle of the season,
- 3:54Speaker 1: and Cessna, for whatever reason, listened to him. And now,
- 4:00Speaker 1: this year, they're taking picks away from me. So, and
- 4:05Speaker 1: I think it's Crystal Dupree who's doing this. I'm pretty
- 4:09Speaker 1: sure it's all her fault. Because I kicked her around
- 4:16Speaker 1: pretty good most years. And I think she's decided she
- 4:23Speaker 1: has to cheat to win and to beat me. I
- 4:29Speaker 1: don't think she cares if she wins a contest. She
- 4:31Speaker 1: just cares if she beats me. And now they're taking
- 4:35Speaker 1: a win away from me. So I'm going to get
- 4:40Speaker 1: that win put back on for sure. And things are
- 4:46Speaker 1: going to be different. So we'll see how that all
- 4:54Speaker 1: works itself out. But Not happy about it so far.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'll just say it. Not happy about it.
- 5:03Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:03Speaker 1: We've got Astros baseball coming up at 640. They are
- 5:10Speaker 1: beginning a series with the Royals. And I have never
- 5:15Speaker 1: been a bigger Michael Wacca fan than I am tonight.
- 5:20Speaker 1: He is starting against the Astros. He has had a
- 5:24Speaker 1: good year, man. He is 9-8 with a bad baseball
- 5:29Speaker 1: team and a 3.25 earn-run average. So he has had
- 5:34Speaker 1: a really nice season for the Royals. He's had a
- 5:38Speaker 1: nice career, period. If it sounds like I'm pumping him up,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I am. I hope he pitches a perfect game tonight
- 5:49Speaker 1: against Hunter Brown and the Disastros. Their lead is down
- 5:53Speaker 1: to one over the Rangers. That's in the standings. They're
- 5:57Speaker 1: really ahead two games because they have the tiebreaker. It
- 6:01Speaker 1: is Roberto Clemente Day in Major League Baseball. So you
- 6:06Speaker 1: will see the number 21 everywhere, which is pretty cool.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And there are 12 games left. in the season, in
- 6:20Speaker 1: the regular season. There are 12 games left in the
- 6:24Speaker 1: regular season. So let's go. I obviously kind of given
- 6:34Speaker 1: up on the Rangers. I haven't watched a lot because
- 6:38Speaker 1: it's football season. Besides True South tonight, I'm sure I
- 6:44Speaker 1: will tune over and watch a little because Jacob DeGrom's pitching.
- 6:51Speaker 1: the worst loss of the year on his last outing.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I mean his last three starts he's 1-0 with a 0.95
- 7:07Speaker 1: earned run average. He's given up two earned runs in
- 7:10Speaker 1: his last 19 innings. Unfortunately he didn't get the decision
- 7:19Speaker 1: when he left with a I think it was a
- 7:21Speaker 1: 3-0 lead and gave up one hit and faced one
- 7:27Speaker 1: over the minimum batter and struck out 12. I'm not
- 7:32Speaker 1: bitter about that. But anyway, we've got the Astros at
- 7:37Speaker 1: 640 tonight. That game starts at 710. A & M
- 7:40Speaker 1: Safety Marcus Ratcliffe has been named semifinalist for the Werfel Trophy.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Given out by Allstate and the Werfel Foundation for service.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Really cool charitable initiative. The Mission 312 for World War
- 8:02Speaker 1: II veterans. He pledges $ 312 for every turnover for the
- 8:08Speaker 1: Aggie defense. And in fact, so this last week cost
- 8:12Speaker 1: him $ 1, 248. That's awesome. volunteers at after-school programs, Habitat for Humanity,
- 8:26Speaker 1: and also through his home church in San Diego, and
- 8:30Speaker 1: obviously was voted team captain this year. Let's see. They're
- 8:37Speaker 1: bringing in extra security for the LSU-Ole Miss game in
- 8:42Speaker 1: Oxford Saturday night. They're going to have mounted cavalry They
- 8:50Speaker 1: probably should call in the National Guard. The governor has
- 8:54Speaker 1: said he's and I think he's kidding. He's thinking of
- 8:59Speaker 1: flying Lane Kiffin in on an F-16. I think he's kidding.
- 9:06Speaker 1: But with this guy, you just you don't know. I mean,
- 9:12Speaker 1: this game has been circled since Lane Kiffin walked out
- 9:16Speaker 1: of Oxford last year. Knew it was coming. It just
- 9:20Speaker 1: so happens that both teams are in the top ten
- 9:24Speaker 1: right now. I don't know yet if either one of
- 9:32Speaker 1: them is top ten worthy, but LSU has looked good.
- 9:36Speaker 1: They've looked very good. And Ole Miss has, if not
- 9:43Speaker 1: the best quarterback in the nation, he's in the top three.
- 9:47Speaker 5: In my mind.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss is really, really good. If he'd have been
- 9:54Speaker 1: two or three inches taller, he'd be playing in the
- 9:56Speaker 1: NFL this year, and he'd probably be playing in the
- 9:58Speaker 1: NFL next year, actually. unless he gets like the seventh
- 10:01Speaker 1: or eighth season, which could happen. Ryan Day speaking out
- 10:09Speaker 1: after his team's collapse against Texas Saturday night says it's
- 10:16Speaker 1: extremely frustrating. says it's going to force us to make
- 10:22Speaker 1: some hard decisions. I'm not sure what that means. I mean,
- 10:28Speaker 1: Jeremiah Smith's going to still be a receiver. Julian Sayen's
- 10:32Speaker 1: still going to be the quarterback. I'm assuming Bo Jackson's
- 10:35Speaker 1: still going to be the running back. And he said
- 10:41Speaker 1: it's frustrating. It's maddening. We have to win the fourth quarter.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean, you do in certain games that you're going
- 10:49Speaker 1: to play this year. Most of those games, you're not
- 10:51Speaker 1: going to have to worry about the fourth quarter. And frankly,
- 10:54Speaker 1: I don't think there's many of us that thought he
- 10:57Speaker 1: was going to have to worry about the fourth quarter
- 10:58Speaker 1: on Saturday the way that game went for three quarters.
- 11:03Speaker 1: It was a meltdown. No question. I mean, I've got
- 11:07Speaker 1: to give Texas credit. Got to give Arch some credit.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I think they were gassed. But the reason they were
- 11:13Speaker 1: gassed is Texas ran almost 40 plays in the fourth
- 11:16Speaker 1: quarter in that heat. And the reason they ran almost
- 11:18Speaker 1: 40 plays is because the defense didn't stop them in
- 11:22Speaker 1: the fourth quarter, right? Didn't make them punt. And when
- 11:26Speaker 1: they did stop them on fourth down twice, Texas converted.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Vanderbilt's going to their freshman five-star quarterback to start this
- 11:37Speaker 1: week against North Carolina State, Jared Curtis. Curtis came in
- 11:42Speaker 1: and accounted for three of the four offensive touchdowns because
- 11:46Speaker 1: Vanderbilt struggled to beat Delaware. I thought Vanderbilt would be
- 11:50Speaker 1: down a little bit this year because Pavia was not there.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I still think that may be the case. We'll see
- 12:00Speaker 1: about that. Let's see. And Ryland Griffin. Travis Brown at
- 12:08Speaker 1: KPTX says he has gotten a temporary restraining order that
- 12:14Speaker 1: there is an injunction hearing on September 28th that would
- 12:19Speaker 1: allow him to play another year for A & M.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think Ryland Griffin is about 42 years old now.
- 12:25Speaker 1: All right. We're going to hear from Coach Elko right now.
- 12:30Speaker 1: We carried this live. We do every Monday during his
- 12:33Speaker 1: news conference.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Yeah, just kind of reflecting back on the game, start
- 12:39Speaker 6: with our players of the week. Scout team defense went
- 12:42Speaker 6: to Storm Miller, another young linebacker who continues to develop.
- 12:46Speaker 7: Scout team offense was.
- 12:47Speaker 6: Eli Morcos, did a really, really good job at quarterback,
- 12:51Speaker 6: which our scout team quarterbacks will tell you that's probably
- 12:54Speaker 6: the hardest position on the team because they've got to
- 12:56Speaker 6: deal with me for all the bad decisions they make.
- 12:59Speaker 7: Our special team scout team.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Player of the week was Adam Graham, A young walk-on
- 13:03Speaker 6: who joined us from campus actually two years ago and
- 13:06Speaker 6: does a really, really good job for us.
- 13:09Speaker 7: Offensive lineman of the game was Mark Nabu.
- 13:11Speaker 6: I thought that was Mark's best game of the year
- 13:14Speaker 6: for sure, but really one of his better games since
- 13:16Speaker 6: we've been here with him over his time starting.
- 13:18Speaker 7: I thought Mark played really, really well on Saturday.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Defensively, went to TJ Searcy again. Another kid who was
- 13:24Speaker 6: really active in the run defense. Obviously had the big
- 13:26Speaker 6: play that led to the disruption that led to the
- 13:29Speaker 6: interception that kind of changed the game. Players of the
- 13:33Speaker 6: week offensively was Terry Bussey. I think he continues to
- 13:36Speaker 6: grow and develop into his role and I think we're
- 13:39Speaker 6: trying to continue to find different ways to feature him
- 13:42Speaker 6: and get him the ball more often.
- 13:43Speaker 7: But he did a nice job on Saturday.
- 13:45Speaker 6: And then Bravion Rogers, who had his best game of
- 13:49Speaker 6: his career, actually won the Defensive Player of the Week
- 13:52Speaker 6: and the Special Teams Player of the Week for us.
- 13:53Speaker 6: And so I thought he did a really, really good
- 13:56Speaker 6: job on some critical third downs, getting us out of
- 13:59Speaker 6: some bad leverage spots in the perimeter by just winning
- 14:01Speaker 6: on blocks and making plays. And then he's just become
- 14:04Speaker 6: a menace on punt and so had the real big tackle.
- 14:07Speaker 6: on the first one, and then a really nice job
- 14:09Speaker 6: of getting the returner away from the ball on the
- 14:12Speaker 6: second one, which allowed us to recover it. And so
- 14:14Speaker 6: I thought he did a nice job. I just want
- 14:17Speaker 6: to recognize Tyler White, who was named to the Ray guy,
- 14:21Speaker 6: Ray's 8 of the week, and I thought had a really,
- 14:23Speaker 6: really good week punting the football, four really solid punts
- 14:27Speaker 6: for us, and so did a nice job. And then
- 14:30Speaker 6: close just with this. I think a thank you to
- 14:34Speaker 6: the 12th man again. I just think, and I kind
- 14:36Speaker 6: of wore the hat and the shirt for this reason.
- 14:38Speaker 6: I think we all know Texas in early September is
- 14:40Speaker 6: not a lot of fun.
- 14:41Speaker 7: Texas at 11 a.m.
- 14:42Speaker 8: Is fun.
- 14:43Speaker 7: Challenging.
- 14:44Speaker 6: And just for us to go 107,000 in back-to-back weeks
- 14:47Speaker 6: to open the season, something that we've never done before
- 14:50Speaker 6: as a program, just another thank you to them for
- 14:54Speaker 6: all of the support that they bring. And just reflecting
- 14:57Speaker 6: back at some of the pictures and some of the
- 14:58Speaker 6: videos from the game, just an unbelievable atmosphere in the red, white,
- 15:03Speaker 6: and blue. And so just another thank you for them
- 15:06Speaker 6: and for all that they do. And so Now we
- 15:09Speaker 6: turn our attention ahead to SEC week. Kentucky coming in here. Obviously,
- 15:14Speaker 6: anytime you bring in an SEC game, it's going to
- 15:16Speaker 6: be a big challenge. A lot of respect for Will
- 15:19Speaker 6: Stein and the job that he does as an offensive
- 15:22Speaker 6: coach has been one of the best in the country
- 15:24Speaker 6: for the last few years.
- 15:26Speaker 7: Did a really phenomenal job at Oregon.
- 15:29Speaker 6: Combined him with Coach Sloan, and it's going to be
- 15:32Speaker 6: another formidable offensive attack. And then obviously have a ton
- 15:35Speaker 6: of respect for Jay Bateman and the job that he
- 15:37Speaker 6: does on defense and certainly they'll have an intricate working
- 15:41Speaker 6: of who we are and what we're all about and
- 15:43Speaker 6: so that creates its own challenges and so we'll have
- 15:46Speaker 6: our hands full with Kentucky and it'll be another big
- 15:48Speaker 6: big game and big challenge for us and so looking
- 15:50Speaker 6: forward to getting ready for it and so from there
- 15:52Speaker 6: we'll open up to questions.
- 15:53Speaker 8: Coach we'll go to the right third row David.
- 15:59Speaker 9: Yeah, obviously not good enough for sure.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Certainly an area that needs to improve. We have to
- 16:12Speaker 6: be able to run the ball more effectively than that.
- 16:15Speaker 6: I think when you look at the tape, A lot
- 16:18Speaker 6: of reasons. Obviously, I think we've got to do a
- 16:20Speaker 6: better job blocking up front. That's a part of it.
- 16:22Speaker 6: We've got to do a better job of running behind
- 16:24Speaker 6: the blocks. That's a part of it. We missed some
- 16:27Speaker 6: blocks with perimeter guys having to block the extra guys.
- 16:30Speaker 6: That didn't get done at the level it needs to.
- 16:33Speaker 6: It was breakdowns at all three levels that I think
- 16:35Speaker 6: caused the deficiency. Then I think maybe a challenge at
- 16:39Speaker 6: halftime and finding some different leverages at halftime helped us
- 16:43Speaker 6: get it going a little bit in the second half. Certainly,
- 16:46Speaker 6: KJ Edwards came in and provided a spark. That was noticeable.
- 16:51Speaker 6: And so I think it's just something we've got to
- 16:53Speaker 6: continue to address for sure. We're not going to be
- 16:56Speaker 6: very successful much longer if we don't find better ways
- 16:58Speaker 6: to run the football.
- 16:59Speaker 7: There's no doubt about it.
- 17:00Speaker 8: We'll stay to the right. First row, Olin.
- 17:03Speaker 10: Yeah, Mike, first of all, now that you have time
- 17:06Speaker 10: to review the tape, evaluation of Marcel's game overall?
- 17:10Speaker 7: Yeah, you know. Up and down.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Certainly better than maybe the stats would say. I don't
- 17:17Speaker 6: think he necessarily played poorly. There were certainly poor plays.
- 17:23Speaker 6: I think there was a couple curls that he missed.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Certainly the interception was a really bad decision, but I
- 17:29Speaker 6: also think he bounced back and made some plays. Obviously
- 17:31Speaker 6: the throw to Horton on the sideline for a touchdown
- 17:35Speaker 6: was a really, really nice throw. The throw that he
- 17:37Speaker 6: made to Craver for the touchdown was a really, really
- 17:40Speaker 6: nice throw. And so, you know, I think early in
- 17:42Speaker 6: the year, some good, some bad, and just a continued
- 17:45Speaker 6: work in progress like we are as a team right now.
- 17:48Speaker 10: I want to ask about when Damien's coming back, when
- 17:51Speaker 10: he's ready to come back, is that– Is that going
- 17:54Speaker 10: to be problematic at all? Because it seems like your linebackers,
- 17:58Speaker 10: Coney and Noah, have been playing pretty well.
- 18:00Speaker 6: Yeah, it's never a problem when you have too many
- 18:03Speaker 6: good players. I've never once found that to be problematic
- 18:06Speaker 6: for us. I think I've had a lot of problems
- 18:08Speaker 6: the other way. where you don't have enough good players
- 18:11Speaker 6: and there's not a lot of solutions there.
- 18:14Speaker 7: Obviously, Damian's a kid. He's a captain. He's a kid
- 18:16Speaker 7: that is a really talented player.
- 18:18Speaker 6: He'll be ready at some point, and when he's ready,
- 18:20Speaker 6: he'll certainly get himself back into it.
- 18:22Speaker 7: But in his absence, it's been awesome to see Ray
- 18:25Speaker 7: and Noah.
- 18:26Speaker 6: And, again, I think continuing to point out what Tamarian
- 18:29Speaker 6: Watkins and Jordan Lockhart have looked like, too, when they've
- 18:31Speaker 6: been out there has been really good. And so it's
- 18:34Speaker 6: a deep group. Again, I continue to point to that.
- 18:37Speaker 6: I think that's our strength.
- 18:38Speaker 7: That we're going to lean on.
- 18:39Speaker 6: And we'll just have to be creative with how we
- 18:41Speaker 6: utilize those three guys when we do get Damian.
- 18:43Speaker 7: Back at full speed.
- 18:45Speaker 8: We'll go right next door. Carter?
- 18:47Speaker 11: Mike, has TJ surprised you at all? And what would
- 18:50Speaker 11: you say is the biggest difference from him this season
- 18:53Speaker 11: compared to last?
- 18:54Speaker 6: No, I don't think he's surprised us at all. He's...
- 18:58Speaker 6: He's maybe just a little bit of a different type
- 19:00Speaker 6: of player, so he doesn't flash stat-wise. But he has been,
- 19:04Speaker 6: if you follow the players of the week, he has
- 19:07Speaker 6: been a player of the week more often than maybe
- 19:10Speaker 6: a lot of people talk about him for or give
- 19:12Speaker 6: him credit for.
- 19:14Speaker 7: Certainly the NFL.
- 19:15Speaker 6: Scouts are very aware of who he is, and he's
- 19:18Speaker 6: certainly rated a lot higher with them than.
- 19:20Speaker 7: The way he's talked about for sure as well. And so, no,
- 19:24Speaker 7: we think he's a really, really talented player.
- 19:25Speaker 6: He's really long-term. He's really physical at the point of attack.
- 19:28Speaker 6: He's hard to move. He can rush the passer. He
- 19:32Speaker 6: can create problems for the quarterback with his length.
- 19:35Speaker 7: And he's a really, really good football player.
- 19:37Speaker 6: So, yeah, it hasn't really surprised me, but maybe just
- 19:41Speaker 6: the name that hasn't flashed out there like it should.
- 19:44Speaker 11: And how much the running game, how much of that
- 19:46Speaker 11: has been the newness of the O-line, some of all
- 19:49Speaker 11: the new pieces there? And do you expect that to
- 19:51Speaker 11: click largely because they'll gel as the season goes on?
- 19:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:55Speaker 6: I don't expect anything. You know, you have to make
- 19:58Speaker 6: things happen. And so, you know, we're certainly not sitting
- 20:00Speaker 6: around hoping time solves. You know, we've got to find solutions.
- 20:04Speaker 6: We've got to find creative ways to get it going.
- 20:06Speaker 6: You know, that's what we get paid to do, and
- 20:10Speaker 6: we've got to find ways to do it. And so,
- 20:11Speaker 6: you know, that starts with me and starts with our
- 20:14Speaker 6: staff and then putting the kids in position to do
- 20:16Speaker 6: the things that they're capable of executing and then.
- 20:18Speaker 7: Going and doing it. And so, no, we're certainly not.
- 20:23Speaker 7: Waiting for it to get there or hoping it gets
- 20:25Speaker 7: there in time.
- 20:26Speaker 8: We'll go over to the left, second row, Alex. You
- 20:29Speaker 8: mentioned how Bravion maybe had the best game of his career.
- 20:31Speaker 12: I'm just curious, you know, what do you see from
- 20:33Speaker 12: a guy that he hadn't really played a whole lot
- 20:34Speaker 12: during his time here, but, you know, he's getting an
- 20:36Speaker 12: opportunity and kind of making the most of it?
- 20:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I see a great story.
- 20:40Speaker 6: And just another example, I stand on the podium and
- 20:43Speaker 6: I'm not sure that anybody ever really hears me when
- 20:45Speaker 6: I say this, but like, There are so many more
- 20:47Speaker 6: stories like that than anybody wants to give credit for
- 20:50Speaker 6: in college football, and we've had a ton of them here.
- 20:53Speaker 7: And he's another one of a kid who has just worked.
- 20:56Speaker 7: He's been very selfless for the team.
- 20:58Speaker 6: He's been a phenomenal player on special teams. That doesn't
- 21:01Speaker 6: garner a lot of attention. as he's continued to develop
- 21:05Speaker 6: as a defensive player and has now found himself in
- 21:08Speaker 6: a position where he's helping us at nickel as well.
- 21:10Speaker 6: He's out there in some critical situations at the nickel position,
- 21:13Speaker 6: and I just think he's a kid, from our perspective,
- 21:17Speaker 6: has made a lot of impactful plays in those areas.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Maybe not the biggest name, but certainly a big piece
- 21:23Speaker 6: of why a team can be successful and win football games.
- 21:27Speaker 8: We'll stay to the left. Fifth row, Rob.
- 21:29Speaker 7: Howdy, Coach.
- 21:31Speaker 13: Watching it back, you know, with like two minutes left
- 21:34Speaker 13: in the third quarter, you guys are up by four.
- 21:38Speaker 13: The defense gets a big three and out, forces that.
- 21:42Speaker 13: And then the next drive, Mario gets the touchdown. Did
- 21:45Speaker 13: you feel like that's kind of when the game changed
- 21:47Speaker 13: and it seemed like the defense just started leaning on
- 21:50Speaker 13: him after that?
- 21:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 13: So do you think that was kind of a game-changing
- 21:54Speaker 13: drive right there?
- 21:55Speaker 6: Yeah, honestly, I felt like the second half the game
- 21:58Speaker 6: felt that way. I felt like we had a much
- 22:01Speaker 6: better grip on the second half minus the one coverage
- 22:05Speaker 6: issue that got the kid loose on the long touchdown.
- 22:08Speaker 6: I thought play in and play out, we weren't very
- 22:10Speaker 6: good in the first half, both sides of the ball.
- 22:12Speaker 6: I thought coming out of halftime, we played much better
- 22:16Speaker 6: both sides of the ball in the second half. and
- 22:18Speaker 6: I felt like we had control of the game. And
- 22:20Speaker 6: then two plays I felt like caused that to feel
- 22:24Speaker 6: at risk. The touchdown obviously was one of them, and
- 22:27Speaker 6: then the drop punt created another one. And so the
- 22:30Speaker 6: response to the touchdown, which was the offensive drive.
- 22:32Speaker 7: Was really, really big.
- 22:33Speaker 6: And then obviously the response to the botched punt and
- 22:38Speaker 6: the strip interception return for a touchdown.
- 22:40Speaker 7: Was the other one.
- 22:41Speaker 6: I thought those two plays really kind of halted any
- 22:44Speaker 6: momentum that they put together to try to get themselves
- 22:47Speaker 6: back in the game.
- 22:49Speaker 8: We'll go over to the right front row, Travis.
- 22:51Speaker 7: I know late in the game Landon Rink went off.
- 22:54Speaker 7: What's his status this week? He'll be good. He'll be good.
- 22:57Speaker 7: And then the– lost my train of thought. Come back
- 23:04Speaker 7: to me. I'll come back to you.
- 23:06Speaker 8: We'll go to Chip all the way in the back, Coach.
- 23:09Speaker 7: I must have surprised you with the answer with how much.
- 23:14Speaker 1: You mentioned that Jake Bateman knows you guys pretty well.
- 23:17Speaker 7: Obviously, you know him pretty well.
- 23:18Speaker 1: When you turn on the tape, do you see a
- 23:20Speaker 1: lot of familiar things when you're looking at them?
- 23:23Speaker 7: You know, probably a mixed bag. You know, certainly.
- 23:29Speaker 6: Some philosophical things that were important to me that we
- 23:31Speaker 6: ran here on defense that maybe weren't things that Jay had,
- 23:35Speaker 6: some things that we did that maybe Jay liked. And
- 23:37Speaker 6: so I think you have kind of a mixed bag
- 23:40Speaker 6: of what Jay has maybe traditionally been or wanted to
- 23:43Speaker 6: be in his career combined with maybe a couple things
- 23:47Speaker 6: that he picked up here that he liked and thought fit.
- 23:49Speaker 6: And so it's probably a little bit of a mixed bag.
- 23:52Speaker 11: You talked about the linebacker room and just how they've
- 23:54Speaker 11: kind of stepped up without Damian Sanford. One of those
- 23:57Speaker 11: guys has been Tamario Watkins. Just what have you seen
- 23:59Speaker 11: from him that just allowed him to kind of step
- 24:01Speaker 11: in and make plays as a young kid?
- 24:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I think a kid who had a phenomenal summer.
- 24:05Speaker 6: I think we challenge kids. you know, they get here
- 24:09Speaker 6: as freshmen, I joke with them all the time, and
- 24:10Speaker 6: their expectation is that the first practice they go out there,
- 24:13Speaker 6: they're going to be the best player on the field, right?
- 24:15Speaker 6: And somewhere around the middle of practice two, they realize, whoa, okay,
- 24:18Speaker 6: this is a little bit different than what I thought
- 24:20Speaker 6: I was walking into, and then from that point, it's
- 24:22Speaker 6: your response, right? And some kids get frustrated and disappointed
- 24:27Speaker 6: and not, you know, excited about how they're playing, and
- 24:30Speaker 6: some kids understand that it's just the natural growth curve
- 24:32Speaker 6: of going from high school to college, and especially college
- 24:35Speaker 6: at this level, and Um, and they just start grinding
- 24:38Speaker 6: and working.
- 24:38Speaker 7: And I think to.
- 24:39Speaker 6: His credit, um, he got over that frustration of, of
- 24:42Speaker 6: his spring, which wasn't, you know, by his measure, what
- 24:45Speaker 6: he hoped it would be and just put in an
- 24:47Speaker 6: unbelievable amount of work in the film room and OTAs
- 24:50Speaker 6: this summer and like midway through summer, um, He just
- 24:53Speaker 6: started to get a much better command in any drills
- 24:56Speaker 6: and work of what we were doing. When he started
- 25:00Speaker 6: fall camp, he looked like a completely different kid from
- 25:02Speaker 6: where he was in the spring, which is to be
- 25:04Speaker 6: expected if you do it right, and he certainly did.
- 25:07Speaker 6: We've had a lot of confidence in his growth since
- 25:10Speaker 6: fall camp started, and it's been good to see it
- 25:12Speaker 6: translate onto the field.
- 25:13Speaker 8: We'll go to the second row on the right, Landon.
- 25:16Speaker 7: Howdy, Coach. We didn't get to ask you about on Saturday.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Marcus Radcliffe tied.
- 25:20Speaker 12: For the lead in tackles on the team, but more
- 25:21Speaker 12: than that, saw him really communicating with everybody out there,
- 25:24Speaker 12: making sure everybody was aligned and in their proper spot.
- 25:26Speaker 12: Kind of talk about what he's done for your guys' defense,
- 25:28Speaker 12: being a returning player that can help a lot of
- 25:30Speaker 12: new faces on the defensive side.
- 25:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I think really important.
- 25:33Speaker 6: I think safety is obviously a huge position from a
- 25:37Speaker 6: communication standpoint, and we lost the void of Torrey Newark
- 25:40Speaker 6: and what he would do from a communication, and so
- 25:43Speaker 6: it's kind of been a group effort, and Marcus and
- 25:45Speaker 6: even Dalton to some degree with his experience, the two
- 25:48Speaker 6: of them back there I think add so much value
- 25:51Speaker 6: just from an experience communication standpoint, getting us on the
- 25:54Speaker 6: same page, and Marcus is really flexible in what we
- 25:57Speaker 6: can do with him, and some of our third down stuff,
- 25:59Speaker 6: we're able to play him at linebacker some, and use
- 26:01Speaker 6: him in different ways from a blitz standpoint, and I
- 26:03Speaker 6: just think his body type is so unique in what
- 26:06Speaker 6: he can do, and so he provides a lot of
- 26:09Speaker 6: value for us in a lot of different ways.
- 26:11Speaker 7: We're really glad we have him.
- 26:12Speaker 8: We'll go to the left, third row, Colton.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Hey, Coach, you mentioned Naboo.
- 26:16Speaker 12: Why was it one of his best games?
- 26:18Speaker 6: I thought he did a really good job blocking people,
- 26:20Speaker 6: did a really good job communicating at center. I thought
- 26:24Speaker 6: he helped the O-line function, which is obviously a huge
- 26:27Speaker 6: part of what the center does. There were certainly less
- 26:29Speaker 6: miscommunications and issues like that on Saturday, and so that
- 26:32Speaker 6: was good to see from him.
- 26:33Speaker 12: Also curious about the assessment of the tight ends, specifically
- 26:36Speaker 12: Richie and the development of Houston Thomas as well.
- 26:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I think providing us value in the run game,
- 26:43Speaker 6: obviously still trying to get them unhinged a little bit
- 26:45Speaker 6: in the pass game, but... You know, they're in a
- 26:47Speaker 6: difficult spot from a pass game standpoint, I think, because
- 26:50Speaker 6: of some of the talent we have at the wide
- 26:52Speaker 6: receiver position. You know, and so, you know, again, like
- 26:56Speaker 6: like every every season, it's a long season. And what
- 26:58Speaker 6: ultimately will happen is teams will start paying a little
- 27:01Speaker 6: bit more attention to the receivers and the outside guys.
- 27:04Speaker 6: And that will ultimately create some windows for them. And
- 27:06Speaker 6: I would throw Mike O'Reilly into that conversation as well.
- 27:08Speaker 14: All right.
- 27:09Speaker 1: That's Coach Elko. You and we carried that live. like
- 27:14Speaker 1: we do most of the time here on The Zone.

- 30:27Speaker 1: Mallory is brought to us by Southwest Card World. Man,
- 30:34Speaker 1: what an Emmy show last night, huh? Huh? Yeah. Huh? Huh?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Bob Mackey died before the Emmys even started. He was 87.
- 30:47Speaker 1: He was a fashion and costume designer. He made signature
- 30:59Speaker 1: fashion for Cher, Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Carol Burnett,
- 31:12Speaker 1: Liza Minnelli. And on and on. Burnett called him a genius.
- 31:20Speaker 1: There are fashion designers who don't do costumes, and there
- 31:23Speaker 1: are costume designers who don't do fashion. Bob did it all.
- 31:27Speaker 1: There was no one like him. So, and you know,
- 31:33Speaker 1: they paid tribute to a lot of people. They always
- 31:36Speaker 1: have to pay tribute, you know, for the year, right?
- 31:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 1: So, Catherine O'Hara. got the tribute she deserved from Macaulay Culkin,
- 31:53Speaker 1: the co-star in Home Alone, along with Dan Levy and
- 31:57Speaker 1: Annie Murphy from It's Creek.
- 32:01Speaker 17: I was wondering what you were going to say there.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Culkin said, we remember her as the forgetful mother, but
- 32:07Speaker 1: I will never forget about her. There are all kinds
- 32:12Speaker 1: of words I could use to describe Catherine. She was encouraging, warm, funny.
- 32:16Speaker 1: But the word I think of is mama. She wasn't
- 32:19Speaker 1: just a wife and mother to Bo and Matthew and Luke.
- 32:22Speaker 1: She was my mom. She was our mama. And by extension,
- 32:25Speaker 1: all of our mamas. By the way, call your mother tonight.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Reba did a touching tribute to Dolly. Pop singer Noah.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Khan served as musical anchor. Did I get that wrong?
- 32:48Speaker 17: Your guess is as good as mine. I'm laughing because
- 32:50Speaker 17: it's just, I'm usually the one.
- 32:52Speaker 1: He paid tribute in song to Sam Neill, Eric Dane,
- 32:56Speaker 1: Tim Curry, Hal Williams by singing bridge over troubled water.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Her performance is, Reba's performance of Parton's 1983 song Appalachian
- 33:11Speaker 1: Memories highlighted the bond the pair shared through their rural roots.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Backed by an orchestra, Reba, clad in a white gown,
- 33:21Speaker 1: adorned with sparkles, looked teary-eyed through the performance while old
- 33:25Speaker 1: photos of Dolly rolled behind her on the screens.
- 33:30Speaker 18: Uh....
- 33:33Speaker 1: Reber ended, I love you, Dolly, so much. Now, they
- 33:41Speaker 1: paid tribute to Rob Reiner, Hayden Panettiere, but guess who
- 33:53Speaker 1: they didn't pay tribute to?
- 33:55Speaker 17: They always forget one.
- 33:57Speaker 10: Who is it?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Oh, Big Chuck Norris from Navasota, Texas. Oh, can you
- 34:04Speaker 1: believe that? I mean, can you believe that? Well, I
- 34:08Speaker 1: will tell you why they did it. I know why.
- 34:11Speaker 1: They're going to come out with some statement eventually. But
- 34:17Speaker 1: he wasn't part of that community.
- 34:20Speaker 17: Oh, yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 1: He didn't live there. He didn't think like they did.
- 34:27Speaker 1: That's why he didn't live there. But come on. It
- 34:31Speaker 1: is Chuck. Freaking Norris.
- 34:35Speaker 7: Right?
- 34:36Speaker 1: You have got to be kidding me. I mean.
- 34:40Speaker 17: Disappointment.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I mean, come on, man. That's okay.
- 34:45Speaker 17: We'll remember him.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Thank you. But come on. Chuck Norris. You're forgetting. I
- 34:52Speaker 1: don't think they forgot. I mean, you don't forget Chuck Norris.
- 34:56Speaker 17: They probably went through his name.
- 34:59Speaker 1: They did it on purpose. Days of Our Lives star
- 35:03Speaker 1: Patrick Muldoon. I don't know who that is. Fame Transformers
- 35:08Speaker 1: voice Peter Cullen also got left out. DeVay Chase, who
- 35:15Speaker 1: did Lilo and Stitch. She got left out. So, but
- 35:24Speaker 1: come on. Chuck Norris. That's... Keep on this board. Thank you.
- 35:32Speaker 17: Who's the one doing this?
- 35:33Speaker 1: I'll tell you who it is. It's the same people
- 35:38Speaker 1: who don't invite me to the Cannes and the Venice
- 35:41Speaker 1: Film Festival every year. That's who.
- 35:45Speaker 17: Who do they think they are?
- 35:46Speaker 1: Those losers.
- 35:48Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 35:49Speaker 18: All right.
- 35:50Speaker 17: Listen to our show. We start with the deaths. Just
- 35:53Speaker 17: make a list.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Did you see Taylor at the Emmys?
- 35:56Speaker 17: So, that was the big question. Will Taylor Swift be
- 35:59Speaker 17: at the Emmys?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Well, she wasn't.
- 36:01Speaker 17: She wasn't, no.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Only by video.
- 36:04Speaker 19: Host.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Right?
- 36:05Speaker 17: Oh, yeah. Host Mariska, I can never.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Say her name. Mariska Hargitay.
- 36:11Speaker 18: Or Olivia, that's how I think of, enlisted her Law
- 36:15Speaker 18: and Order Special Victims Unit cast to solve the mystery
- 36:18Speaker 18: during the pre-taped skit.
- 36:20Speaker 17: The Emmy starts tonight, and the.
- 36:22Speaker 18: Mayor's office is breathing down my neck, demanding the answer
- 36:26Speaker 18: of the Answer the big question, will Taylor Swift be
- 36:28Speaker 18: at the Emmys? The investigation did begin with a crime
- 36:31Speaker 18: board filled with photos and a string of plenty of
- 36:33Speaker 18: Swift Easter eggs.
- 36:35Speaker 17: In order to correct a Swifty case.
- 36:38Speaker 18: You've got to think like a Swifty because the Swifties
- 36:40Speaker 18: think that everything is a clue.
- 36:43Speaker 17: To what she'll do next.
- 36:45Speaker 18: The deductives did connect Emmy nominations to Swift's lucky number 13,
- 36:50Speaker 18: Kansas City, and Travis Kelsey, before working their way through
- 36:53Speaker 18: the references to Red, Blad, Blad Blood, Bad Blood, Look
- 36:58Speaker 18: What You Made Me Do, and Reputation, which was written.
- 37:00Speaker 17: Across the board.
- 37:01Speaker 18: The case took another turn when Swift herself with darker
- 37:05Speaker 18: short hair, did appear as a rookie investigator. So was
- 37:09Speaker 18: she there physically?
- 37:10Speaker 1: No. You know where she was?
- 37:14Speaker 17: Yeah, she was. I mean, I can tell you where
- 37:16Speaker 17: she was, Chip. I'm so glad you asked.
- 37:18Speaker 7: Okay, good.
- 37:19Speaker 17: She was at Arrowhead Stadium.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Oh, was there a game last night?
- 37:22Speaker 17: There was.
- 37:24Speaker 7: Okay.
- 37:24Speaker 17: Swift was spotted at Monday night's.
- 37:27Speaker 18: Kansas City game against the Denver Broncos, making her return
- 37:29Speaker 18: to Arrowhead as Kelsey kicks off his 14th NFL season.
- 37:33Speaker 18: The newlywed wifey was spotted next to Tom Cruise.
- 37:39Speaker 7: By.
- 37:42Speaker 1: The way. Tom has this movie coming out.
- 37:46Speaker 18: Tom's like, I just really want to bungee jump off
- 37:50Speaker 18: of these seats right now.
- 37:53Speaker 1: And the movie studio's Got him next to Taylor so
- 37:58Speaker 1: he would be on camera for his movie.
- 38:01Speaker 20: Right?
- 38:01Speaker 1: There you go.
- 38:03Speaker 17: Probably.
- 38:03Speaker 18: She was also alongside Jason Kelsey.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Of course.
- 38:08Speaker 18: Grabbing onto each other and yelling and jumping for joy
- 38:10Speaker 18: when Travis did stick the ultimate catch.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Good for him.
- 38:13Speaker 17: Yeah, so apparently it comes two months after her and
- 38:17Speaker 17: Kelsey did tie the knot.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Is this the first time we've seen her? Maybe they
- 38:21Speaker 1: went out to dinner like a week or two ago
- 38:24Speaker 1: as a first public appearance, I believe.
- 38:26Speaker 18: No, I think literally a week after they got married,
- 38:29Speaker 18: they were at a wedding.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Oh, they were. Okay.
- 38:31Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 17: So it's not like they're hiding.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Okay. I thought they were hiding.
- 38:36Speaker 17: They never hide.
- 38:36Speaker 1: No, that's true.
- 38:38Speaker 5: They don't hide.
- 38:38Speaker 7: No.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Okay. No, no, no.
- 38:42Speaker 7: All right.
- 38:43Speaker 1: So do you know about this comedy on Apple that
- 38:50Speaker 1: won every Emmy Award last night?
- 38:54Speaker 17: What was it?
- 38:54Speaker 1: What was it called? 14 Emmys.
- 38:58Speaker 17: Jeez.
- 38:59Speaker 1: It's called Widow's Bay. Do you know anything about this? Acting, directing,
- 39:08Speaker 1: all of the comedy categories. It received 19 nominations.
- 39:16Speaker 7: Wow.
- 39:16Speaker 1: And won 14 Emmys. Best comedy series. Director. He became
- 39:23Speaker 1: the first Asian director to win an outstanding directing category
- 39:27Speaker 1: in the comedy series.
- 39:28Speaker 18: Creator.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Uh writing acting i mean that's a lot of emmys
- 39:37Speaker 1: that's that's that's like a lot of nominations 14 more
- 39:42Speaker 1: than i will i would you know what the cool
- 39:46Speaker 1: thing was so 50 years, Charlie's Angels. Jacqueline Smith, who's 80.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Kate Jackson, 77. And Cheryl Ladd, 75. All united on stage.
- 40:07Speaker 1: And of course, mentioned Farrah, who was only there for
- 40:14Speaker 1: one year. Of course, died recently. in 2009 of Cancer.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Moments before presenting the Emmy for Best Drama, the Angels
- 40:24Speaker 1: paid tribute to Farrah with Smith joking, charisma doesn't mean
- 40:30Speaker 1: a second season. I would like to acknowledge someone not
- 40:34Speaker 1: standing with us tonight, and that's my friend Farrah Fawcett.
- 40:38Speaker 1: She's here with us, everyone's collective memory. 50 years since
- 40:45Speaker 1: Charlie's Angels premiered September 22nd, 1976.
- 40:53Speaker 8: Wow.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Before you were born, there was Charlie's Angels. And then,
- 40:58Speaker 1: of course, that prompted a horrible movie. But that's a
- 41:02Speaker 1: whole other issue.
- 41:04Speaker 17: That was my generation.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:07Speaker 17: That's what I remember.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Yes.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Well, you know, poor Cheryl Ladd had to follow Farrah.
- 41:13Speaker 1: You know, she's the one that had to follow.
- 41:15Speaker 18: That's rough.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Farrah, I think I've had each of these ladies on
- 41:19Speaker 1: the show over the years. I think they're all friends
- 41:21Speaker 1: of the show.
- 41:22Speaker 17: Well, that's an accomplishment in itself.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Don't you think so? I think so.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Why not? I tell you, it was nostalgic, but it
- 41:31Speaker 1: was fun seeing them on stage together. That was pretty cool,
- 41:35Speaker 1: even if they did leave out Chuck Norris. Yeah.
- 41:40Speaker 17: Well, hey, I got some royal news.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 41:42Speaker 18: I don't know if you know this, but apparently today
- 41:44Speaker 18: is– former Prince Harry, it's just Harry.
- 41:49Speaker 17: Now, his 42nd birthday.
- 41:51Speaker 1: No way.
- 41:52Speaker 18: Apparently, yeah, because Meghan took to Instagram to wish him
- 41:55Speaker 18: a happy birthday.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Oh, like you do.
- 41:58Speaker 18: He is simply, he's simply the best, she wrote, with
- 42:01Speaker 18: the shared video montage of the prince and their, former
- 42:04Speaker 18: prince and their children. Happy birthday, my love.
- 42:07Speaker 1: That's so romantic.
- 42:08Speaker 18: Harry does pose with a bright white ski slopes with
- 42:11Speaker 18: daughter Princess Lily, who is wearing pink goggles and gloves.
- 42:15Speaker 18: And another, he is seen riding a quad bike outside
- 42:17Speaker 18: with Lily and older brother Archie.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 42:21Speaker 17: Perched on the back.
- 42:23Speaker 18: She also shared a black and white photo of her
- 42:26Speaker 18: and Harry kissing while standing in a vineyard. The children
- 42:31Speaker 18: playing in the background, the pair were married eight years ago.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Eight years. Wow. It just seems like about 15 that
- 42:38Speaker 1: they were married.
- 42:40Speaker 17: Seems like we've been talking about them forever.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 42:44Speaker 17: Oh my gosh. The answer is no. We will not.
- 42:51Speaker 1: But Oh, my gosh.
- 42:53Speaker 18: I have some updates on little Archie and Lily.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Oh, excellent.
- 42:57Speaker 18: Apparently, they have switched schools just two days into their
- 43:00Speaker 18: new term.
- 43:02Speaker 1: That was the $ 84, 000 a year school, right? Or no,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I'm sorry. That's Prince Charles' kid, right?
- 43:10Speaker 17: Yeah, well, apparently.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I'm getting them all confused.
- 43:14Speaker 18: They began– apparently in the U.K., classes began last week.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 43:19Speaker 18: And they have switched their kids to a different school
- 43:21Speaker 18: amid security concerns.
- 43:23Speaker 20: Oh, sure.
- 43:25Speaker 17: A spokesperson did.
- 43:26Speaker 18: Tell people the decision for the children to move schools
- 43:29Speaker 18: was taken following a discussion with the family security team
- 43:33Speaker 18: and the practicalities of the current arrangements.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Give me a break.
- 43:37Speaker 18: The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and
- 43:40Speaker 18: staff for the love, care, and effort they have shown
- 43:43Speaker 18: their family. Hold on.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Yep.
- 43:47Speaker 18: The decision should in no way be interpretive as a
- 43:50Speaker 18: reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children
- 43:54Speaker 18: have received there. So apparently, yeah, again, there's concerns. It
- 43:59Speaker 18: stems from heavy traffic in the area and the distance
- 44:02Speaker 18: between the school and their.
- 44:03Speaker 17: Home rather than the school itself.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Oh, good gosh.
- 44:05Speaker 18: So the outlet said the concerns were elevated after an
- 44:08Speaker 18: incident made it difficult for the vehicles to stay in.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Oh, good gosh. Give me a break.
- 44:15Speaker 17: Womp womp. There's that.
- 44:21Speaker 1: That's crazy talk. You know what I'm saying? So during
- 44:28Speaker 1: an interview with E, Matthew Reese spoke about the banter
- 44:33Speaker 1: between him and his partner, Keri Russell, involving Emmy wins.
- 44:38Speaker 1: She goes, if you win both, I'm not coming home.
- 44:41Speaker 1: The prominent couple had several nominations between them last night. Reese,
- 44:48Speaker 1: for his Netflix The Beast and Me and Apple TV's
- 44:52Speaker 1: Widow's Bay. I guess he was the only one not
- 44:55Speaker 1: to win. The Welch actor made history. Oh, no, he
- 44:59Speaker 1: did win. As the first male actor to win lead
- 45:04Speaker 1: acting awards in drama, comedy, and series. Russell received a
- 45:12Speaker 1: lead actress nod for a drama series and Netflix political thriller,
- 45:18Speaker 1: The Diplomat. But she didn't win. Rhea Sehorne, who I
- 45:25Speaker 1: just love, took home the prize that Rhea can act
- 45:30Speaker 1: and Keri Russell can act. When he asked whether. quote,
- 45:35Speaker 1: he was a free man after securing the wins. He joked,
- 45:39Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm free, lonely maybe. Those kids
- 45:46Speaker 1: are so funny. Let's see. Oh, I've got a disturbing
- 45:53Speaker 1: Hayden Panettiere story. And if you know me, you know
- 45:58Speaker 1: I like disturbing stories. Hayden Panettiere And her drug dealer
- 46:04Speaker 1: engaged in numerous text conversations for years, right up until
- 46:09Speaker 1: the week she died. The DEA is now focused on
- 46:17Speaker 1: these texts. Sources involved in the investigation say Hayden and
- 46:21Speaker 1: her dealer were very specific about purchasing black market pills.
- 46:27Speaker 1: There are a slew of messages about drugs. The DEA
- 46:32Speaker 1: believes Hayden died after taking an oxy pill laced with fentanyl.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Sources say Hayden took various pills with her on the
- 46:42Speaker 1: flight from L.A. to South Carolina the night before she died.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, gave police a bag of the meds,
- 46:52Speaker 1: which could reveal other pills taken with the deadly drug.
- 46:59Speaker 8: Jeez. Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 1: So there's a lot of that involved. It's very sad. Now,
- 47:04Speaker 1: we had speculated on the possible Super Bowl entertainment last
- 47:11Speaker 1: week or the week before. There were rumors going around, right?
- 47:16Speaker 1: There's still rumors. The folks who called the shots have
- 47:22Speaker 1: two megastars at the top of the list, sources tell us.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Justin Bieber and Harry Styles. They're high on Rock Nation's
- 47:35Speaker 1: short list. We told you that Jay-Z picks all the entertainment, right?
- 47:39Speaker 1: He owns the company.
- 47:40Speaker 17: That checks out.
- 47:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:42Speaker 1: We're told Justin and Harry have not yet been approached.
- 47:47Speaker 1: They are both unlikely to take the gig. There's a
- 47:53Speaker 1: lot of people that won't do it. You know, because
- 47:55Speaker 1: of all the criticism.
- 47:56Speaker 17: Well, you don't get paid for it.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's that. And what you get paid with
- 48:00Speaker 1: are a lot of snarky comments, right?
- 48:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:04Speaker 1: The NFL does not pay. The artists usually take the
- 48:09Speaker 1: gig for exposure and boost in streaming revenue and ticket sales.
- 48:16Speaker 17: Which I don't think those two have much of a problem.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I didn't know this, but the Biebs was in a
- 48:22Speaker 1: halftime show at the FIFA World Cup final. You know,
- 48:25Speaker 1: I didn't watch that.
- 48:26Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean this in the nicest way because I
- 48:29Speaker 18: know there's a lot of crazy Bieber fans.
- 48:31Speaker 7: He's fine.
- 48:31Speaker 17: I'm not saying he's not talented, but, like, his music
- 48:34Speaker 17: is more.
- 48:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:36Speaker 17: I don't think it pumps people up.
- 48:38Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Super Bowl 61 is going to be on Valentine's Day
- 48:45Speaker 1: in California.
- 48:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Five months away. The NFL usually announces the performers in
- 48:51Speaker 1: late September, which means we are close to finding out
- 48:56Speaker 1: who they can talk into doing a live free Super
- 48:59Speaker 1: Bowl show.
- 49:00Speaker 18: Or they are scrambling right now.
- 49:05Speaker 17: Chip will do it.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I will, but they'll have to pay me.
- 49:07Speaker 17: Give them a call.
- 49:08Speaker 1: They're going to have to pay me. Let's do birthdays. Sunday,
- 49:13Speaker 1: Jacqueline Bessette. Oh, she could act in her day. Turned 82.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Barbara Bain of Mission Impossible turned 95. Peter Cetera of
- 49:21Speaker 1: Chicago turned 82 on Sunday. Let's see. Don Wise of
- 49:30Speaker 1: Was Not Was turned 74 on Sunday.
- 49:32Speaker 17: Hmm.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Jeff Ross turned 61 on Sunday. And Fiona Apple turned
- 49:47Speaker 1: 49 on Sunday. Yesterday, Walter Koenig from Star Trek turned
- 49:56Speaker 1: 90 yesterday. Joey Heatherton. Oh, she could sing and dance
- 50:01Speaker 1: in her day. Turned 82. By the way, Dancing with
- 50:04Speaker 1: the Stars tonight. We'll have to talk about that tomorrow.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I'm excited. My eyes are on Giada. Singer Bowser from
- 50:14Speaker 1: Sha Na Na is 79. Was 79 yesterday. I guess
- 50:19Speaker 1: he's still 79. Let's see. Mary Crosby. I hadn't heard
- 50:27Speaker 1: any differently. Faith Ford from Murphy Brown is 62.
- 50:31Speaker 7: Stop.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Let's see. Oh, Katie Lee, the former Mrs. Billy Joel.
- 50:43Speaker 1: She's on the Food Network. She's 45.
- 50:46Speaker 7: Still?
- 50:48Speaker 1: Yeah, far as we know. Well, let me say this.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Parts of her are 45. Parts of her. All right,
- 50:56Speaker 1: let's do birthdays today. Can we?
- 50:58Speaker 17: Okay, we could try.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Ron Shelton from Bull Durham. 81 today. And the great
- 51:06Speaker 1: Tommy Lee Jones and the very prickly Tommy Lee Jones
- 51:10Speaker 1: lives on a ranch near San Antonio is 80 today.
- 51:16Speaker 17: I wasn't prepared that he was 80.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Amazing.
- 51:20Speaker 17: Because my parents are 80.
- 51:22Speaker 14: I just did it.
- 51:23Speaker 1: There you go. There you go.
- 51:26Speaker 17: There's that.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Well, Oliver Stone, he made a lot of movies is
- 51:30Speaker 1: 80 today.
- 51:34Speaker 17: Tom Hardy.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 51:35Speaker 18: From The Dark Knight Rises.
- 51:37Speaker 17: Mad Max Fury Road is 49.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Didn't he, or he is with a famous actress or
- 51:42Speaker 1: used to be with some famous actress. I don't remember.
- 51:45Speaker 17: I feel like you're, you're on. Yeah, I think.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Was it Madonna?
- 51:48Speaker 17: I don't know.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Was it Madonna? Well, she's been with so many. It's
- 51:52Speaker 1: hard to, it's hard to tell.
- 51:54Speaker 17: You know. Hard to tell.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:58Speaker 6: Okay.
- 52:00Speaker 17: No, Heidi Montag from the Hittles. She's pretty.
- 52:05Speaker 1: We hadn't heard from her in a minute. She needs
- 52:07Speaker 1: to get busy.
- 52:09Speaker 17: I think her husband was just running for mayor.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Oh, is that what happened?
- 52:12Speaker 17: I don't know if it was mayor. It was something
- 52:15Speaker 17: in California.
- 52:16Speaker 1: All right. Well, I think that's all the damage we
- 52:20Speaker 1: can do today.
- 52:21Speaker 17: I think so.
- 52:23Speaker 1: But we'll need a big Dancing with the Stars review tomorrow.
- 52:28Speaker 17: Get excited.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Mallory is brought to us by Southwest Card World.

- 53:04Speaker 16: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 53:06Speaker 16: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around, and then
- 53:09Speaker 16: I found Schulte Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 53:12Speaker 16: The folks at Schulte guided me every step of the way.
- 53:14Speaker 16: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 53:17Speaker 16: out-of-pocket cost would be after insurance. They took the complication
- 53:21Speaker 16: out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They took off
- 53:23Speaker 16: the damaged roof, put on the new roof, did all
- 53:26Speaker 16: the cleanup, and I had my new roof in one day.
- 53:28Speaker 21: Schulte Roofing, the home of the bulletproof roof.
- 53:35Speaker 1: I'm Trevor Beck with your Rangers report.
- 53:37Speaker 22: The Rangers head into the final homestand of the season.
- 53:41Speaker 7: Drinking and driving, that's the DWI.
- 53:44Speaker 9: THC and driving, DWI.
- 53:47Speaker 5: But it's not just alcohol and THC.
- 53:50Speaker 6: Pills.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Benzos.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Molly. Meth.
- 53:54Speaker 8: Fentanyl.
- 53:55Speaker 1: If it alters your mind, it impairs your driving.
- 53:58Speaker 22: And that puts everyone on the road at risk.
- 54:01Speaker 5: Any high is a DWI.
- 54:03Speaker 7: Drive sober. No regrets. Sponsored by TxDOT.
- 54:09Speaker 22: The Texas Rangers head into the final homestand of the
- 54:11Speaker 22: season and their PR department sent out a call to
- 54:13Speaker 22: all fans to show up for the push to the playoffs.
- 54:17Speaker 7: It's here.
- 54:19Speaker 20: The final homestand. Your last chance to get in and
- 54:23Speaker 20: make noise. You know, that all for Texas. On your feet,
- 54:27Speaker 20: lasso's up, tarps off, scream till your lungs burn noise.
- 54:31Speaker 20: We told you, your effort generates energy, powers our players,
- 54:36Speaker 20: and can help this team get in and make some noise.
- 54:42Speaker 22: Not only that, but Skip Schumacher spoke on the hope
- 54:44Speaker 22: to ride the high coming back home off the off day.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Yeah, big road series.
- 54:48Speaker 11: After a tough final game in Seattle to come here
- 54:51Speaker 11: and win two out of three against a really good team,
- 54:54Speaker 11: hopefully we can build that momentum going into a good
- 54:56Speaker 11: homestand against more tough teams. But that was a big
- 54:59Speaker 11: win and a much needed win.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Rangers face the Red Sox tonight at 7.05.
- 55:02Speaker 22: I'm Trevor Beck with your Rangers report.
- 55:05Speaker 19: One of the biggest potential threats to your retirement plan
