Transcript
- 0:25You've made it Welcome inside the treehouse. I'm Dan O'Malley, joined by Trey
- 0:32Trenholm and by Raj Charmott and by you don't forget this is the place to
- 0:44leave all your worries outside and join us here in the treehouse. And I
- 0:50want to make sure that we deliver on a small tas from earlier in the
- 0:56week, and that is we have a we have a special announcement on the
- 1:00show today. And every time we have an announcement in or on or around
- 1:07this show, everyone's buttholes pucker up, and rightfully, sot us have been
- 1:15made on this on this show over the last handful of years. I mean,
- 1:21oh yeah, yeah, it goes one to two ways. Yeah,
- 1:26if this is a if this, if this this show was happening on a
- 1:29Saturday afternoon, it would have been a different kind of announcement. Yeah.
- 1:34Yeah, we've been haderating from the oh Bits or the crime. It really
- 1:46is an interesting thing though, because we've had whenever, whenever I post on
- 1:49social media that we have an announcement to make. I am very well,
- 1:53first of all, I'm usually pretty intentional with everything that I post. Anyway,
- 1:59Yeah, I'm one of those people that I don't think will come as
- 2:01a surprise to either one of you. But most of the time, I
- 2:07choose my words very carefully, very intentionally. It's for a purpose, right,
- 2:12very what's that it's your programming. I'm not a robot tray. Yeah,
- 2:21you kind of are. In some instances, I can flip the emotional
- 2:25switch, can you on? Feelings? Have they have they have they loaded
- 2:35that app into you yet? Like I don't know like that it's still uh,
- 2:38it's it's still the Spinney circle on me right now. We gotta get
- 2:44the O'Malley three point zero. This one cries real tears, still feels nothing,
- 2:54but at least it at least it looks the part. No. As
- 2:59you guys know, announcements around here are a little little cringey. And the
- 3:02good thing is on occasion they've they've they've actually, you know, sometimes been
- 3:07a decent announcement, been a fun announcement, I'd like to say. And
- 3:09that's why I choose my words very carefully when I post what kind of an
- 3:14announcement it is? Yeah, So earlier this week I posted on Thursday,
- 3:19ay special announcement, and someone, of course responded, I think it was
- 3:23on Twitter saying, wait a minute, your announcement scare me, and I
- 3:30understood it because I'm with you. Sometimes those delivering those announcements are not the
- 3:36most comfortable things for me either. But I told him nope, it's when
- 3:40I say important announcement is when you need to be worried. Oh gotcha.
- 3:47Yeah. If I say it's an important announcement, yeah, then probably be
- 3:52worried. Special announcement. Like if the word that comes before announcement sounds like
- 3:57a positive word in any other context, you should be fine. If it's
- 4:00a fun announcement, a special announcement, an exciting announcement. But if it's
- 4:05an important announcement, oh got someone's either dead or going to jail again,
- 4:15it's important the key word, because then that way I'll pucker up. Last,
- 4:17just when I get a text from you, Hey, you got a
- 4:19few minutes to talk? Yeah, I don't read anything into that. All
- 4:26that means is can I give you a call? Right? Oh gotcha?
- 4:29Okay, it's not like the relationship we need to talk phrase. Now,
- 4:35if I actually send you in a text we need to talk, it's going
- 4:38to be an important announcement. So just keep that in mind. So again,
- 4:47without wanting to draw this out any any further unnecessarily, I think it's
- 4:53uh. I think it's high time that that that we do something that it's
- 4:57really not going to I don't think really be a shocked to anybody. It's
- 5:00not going to come as a huge surprise. Although Raj was very sweet when
- 5:05I told him the announcement by seeming surprised, which again it was very sweet.
- 5:14And that is we would like to announce here in the Treehouse, very
- 5:19excited, a special announcement, not important. Sorry Roger, it's not important,
- 5:24but it isn't excited. That's a fun, exciting special announcement. And
- 5:30that is that as this show continues to grow in all forms audio, video,
- 5:36and god knows where else it may take us, because if there's a
- 5:40listener or a subscriber or a viewer to be had, we will kick over
- 5:45every rock, we will dig holes whatever it takes to find them. But
- 5:53to that end, as the show grows, so must the cast. And
- 5:58we could think of no one. We think he's a great fit. I'm
- 6:04like, really, no one. Not only is he willing, but he's
- 6:10able. We'd like to welcome into the Treehouse on a on a permanent basis
- 6:14no longer a special guest. Rash Charmah, welcome to thank you. That's
- 6:21so excited. We're very excited. Yeah, we're very excited. The downside
- 6:38is is that angelic sound effect I just played? Raj has no idea what
- 6:43that's from? No? Is that? No? Hold on? I think
- 6:47I maybe could guess, and I guess. Let's let's see if you can
- 6:53guess this correctly. Hang on, let me see I still find my my
- 6:56correct buttons here. Nope, nope, nope, nope, that's a tough
- 7:00part. Oh wait wait yeah, okay, got it? What is your
- 7:06guess? Uh? Well, if it's you that's played that and you picked
- 7:12it, uh, angels in the outfield? What I don't know? Or
- 7:18or or what's the movie? Don't I don't think I've ever referenced that movie?
- 7:23You have? You have many podcast or even ever on that many many
- 7:28times you have what? Yeah? Is this? What were you all like
- 7:31sharing a glass of chardonnet or something? Or is it? Uh? No?
- 7:38Is it? Um? What's the movie? Just because I've seen that
- 7:43movie and I know the big star in that movie doesn't mean it's my favorite
- 7:46movie. And I don't ever reference it. You have referenced it. I
- 7:49didn't say it was your favorite movie. I don't think it's anybody's favorite movie.
- 7:53You're not You're not. You're not getting that confused with Field of Dreams,
- 7:56are you? No? No, no, No, that's the that's
- 7:59concernant, right yeah. Um, if you build it, they will come.
- 8:01I think I've seen that one in Totality. Um, yes, I
- 8:07think I have seen that one. So this is sad. I think I
- 8:11know which I think I know which reference you're thinking, yeah, and it
- 8:16ain't that movie. Okay, but I want to see you continue to struggle
- 8:22to try to figure out what I asked for. Two guesses. I'm good,
- 8:26I'm out. I know my strings and weakness. I'm aware. Yeah,
- 8:33but no, it's very exciting and it made no sorry i'm pulling up
- 8:37YouTube. Okay, gotcha. No, it's very exciting and it made my
- 8:41when you when you when you called me, and it was again it's it's
- 8:45very much like Trey said, You're like, hey, man, what are
- 8:46you doing? I was like nothing And I didn't hear anything back, like
- 8:50you didn't text anything back, And I was like, what was that about?
- 8:54Like, what's going on. It's like you got a second and I
- 8:54was like, oh no, like, what what happened? And I getting
- 9:00fired. It wasn't even on the show officially. God so much in his
- 9:05twenty four years at radio he became a full fledged dick, like hr Dan
- 9:11just called I don't know, I say, what would have happened radio wise?
- 9:16At least the last time, I would have sent you an email or
- 9:20something on Friday, late Friday and said, hey, we want to get
- 9:24together for a quick update on everything going on, first thing Monday morning,
- 9:28and then make me and then make you wait all weekend, knowing you're gonna
- 9:31get fired on Monday morning, but not tell you about it until Monday morning.
- 9:35Oh man, I just remember when what was the was one of five.
- 9:41I didn't even know anything was going on, and I got a phone
- 9:46call saying him, Man, what was your radio station playing college fight songs?
- 9:50I was like, and I remember I called you, and I this
- 9:52is how I knew. I called you, and I could hear you driving
- 9:56like the windows were down, and I'm like, you're not supposed to be
- 9:58in the car, You're supposed to be in the office, and go,
- 10:03hey man, you go yep, that was it. I was like,
- 10:05all right, cool man, I just wanted to check that will forever be
- 10:11one of the one of the interesting things about when you work in the media,
- 10:15whether it's actually not even so much in television, but it's it seems
- 10:20like a very specific to radio when when when you get blown out, everyone's
- 10:24going to know about it, because when people tune in to hear what they
- 10:28expect is your voice or your show or whatever it is, and instead they
- 10:31hear something completely different that doesn't fit whatsoever. Yeah, then you start getting
- 10:35phone calls, text messages, all that stuff. Whereas most people get fired,
- 10:41they have the luxury of going home and telling their family, you know
- 10:45what, I decided I didn't like that place anymore. Oh yeah, there
- 10:48you go. Yeah. Oh yeah, you can't do that, No you
- 10:52can't. No, yeah yeah, because because the radio station, it's not
- 10:54like it's not like it's not like I could have gone home and and and
- 10:58told my significant other. At the time, I was single, didn't have
- 11:01a lot of time. But still if I did, it's not like I
- 11:03could have gone home and said, you know what, I didn't like that
- 11:07place anymore. I was sick of it. And then and then if she
- 11:09was to turn on the station she hears a whole new format, she would
- 11:13figure that out pretty quickly because it'd be easy because like, so, let
- 11:18me get this straight, they just happen to have a whole new radio station
- 11:20format in case you quit. Okay, no one's gonna believe that. So
- 11:26so when you get popped in radio, everyone knows it. Yeah, Okay,
- 11:28I think I found I think I found the reference that you thought I
- 11:33was going with. And by the way, and this is this is really
- 11:35going to hit home to Tray. And I'm using that pun intentionally because again
- 11:39I use my words intentionally sometimes except when I don't. And that is these
- 11:43two sports movies could not be more different in ever, in any regard.
- 11:50Tray will understand and appreciate how unlike these two are. And for you rage
- 11:56to conflict the two hurts me, not only as as a film buff,
- 12:01but as a baseball man. Okay, see Trey, Oh yeah, get
- 12:20chills? Look at that ball fly? Oh yeah, not at a boy,
- 12:31Roy Roy hob Is that the one you were thinking of? Rage?
- 12:39Yes? Well, no, no, I mean I know what this is.
- 12:45What's that? I know what this is? Yeah, it's called a
- 12:48natural. This is not Angels in the Outfield. No, but there was
- 12:52one that you played ages ago that sounded very much. It was a stadium
- 12:54chain for the kid or whatever it was, and I thought it was thought
- 13:00it was very similar, uh stadium cheering for a kid. Yeah, you
- 13:05played something it was eight ages ago. I don't, but yeah, I
- 13:07know what that one is. Would it have been the moment in the Sylvester
- 13:11Stallan classic over the Top where he turns his hat backwards so you know he
- 13:15means business. I just had he did. I just want to know in
- 13:20in that in that movie specifically because in the in the rig he had the
- 13:24weight thing for his for his uh crushing hand, but but but nothing for
- 13:30his arm wrestling hand. Yeah yeah, but nothing for the other hand.
- 13:35So when he came out, like I was always expected, he drove with
- 13:37the left hand raj so he could work out the right. But they were
- 13:41both the same size, Like one should have been like significantly bigger than the
- 13:46other. Like one should be like I drive like you the left arms should
- 13:50have been like, hey, I drive a semi big. This one's like
- 13:54I turned my hat around and crushed hands big like But no, Yeah,
- 14:01So yeah, I know Robert Redford in the Natural right, yes, yeah,
- 14:05so yeah, I'm still I've never seen a lot of losses to which
- 14:09reference you think I was making. I'll find it. I'll find it at
- 14:11some point. Let's not diminish this this beautiful moment. That's way too late
- 14:16for that. It is really really just it looks like an oil slick at
- 14:22this point. Ah man. Yeah, but uh no, it was really
- 14:28exciting. And thank you so much for for for uh including me um in
- 14:33in in this in this program because it's it's one of my favorites and your
- 14:37two of my favorite people. So uh, this is just kind of a
- 14:39lot of fun as it is supposed to be. Ye. So so just
- 14:46just so just so you're aware, rise this this noise that's Christmas vacation when
- 14:52they find the Christmas tree idea. Oh that's why that that's what's why I
- 14:56said. You haven't seen the movie, so there's no way you're you get
- 15:00it. But it doesn't matter because you just when you hear that noise,
- 15:03you know, that's that's the sound of joy. That's the sound of uh
- 15:07and and anticipation and expectations being met with. Isn't that also the same music
- 15:13when the Grinch returns, all the presence is not the same where they're using
- 15:16the same music as the same conductor, and that it isn't that joyful,
- 15:22But isn't it? Isn't it like the same on the same lines. Look,
- 15:26I don't have time to pull up all these random ass Christmas movie references
- 15:31on the fly. I just think it's hilarious that you think a kid that
- 15:35grew up in a very traditional Hindu household watched Christmas movies. Like, we
- 15:39didn't do We didn't do that. Like my dad's the guy that told me
- 15:43that, Like he didn't come. He's like, yeah, but he called,
- 15:46he was too busy. Like, we're not talking about a traditional Christmas
- 15:50movie. We're not talking about, you know, a Night before Christmas or
- 15:56Scrooge or something. We're talking about a movie that has the line the shitter
- 16:00is full. Yeah, I don't I don't know what that the reference to
- 16:04that is either, But it's not really a holiday theme. Yeah, but
- 16:11I mean, you know what, Trey, you and I really should have
- 16:14had a meeting about this. I'm really starting to have buyers or moors here
- 16:18now. It feels like home. You're listening to the Treehouse online, a
- 16:29Treehouse on air dot com. Let's get Rodney Anderson into the treehouse now.
- 16:41His phone number ninety two hundred. The website, which is great all the
- 16:45time is Rodney Anderson dot com. Of course, now with Rodney, where've
- 16:49I've been hearing that inventory that there are more homes coming onto the market for
- 16:55sale. I'm wondering is that actually true or is it just a room or
- 17:00what are you seeing out there? Yeah, we're starting to see inventory really
- 17:03pick up. In fact, a week ago, Dan it was noted on
- 17:06Housing Wire, a leading housing website, that eight thousand homes came on the
- 17:11market in one week, which is unheard of nationwide. It has been so
- 17:15limited. We're seeing houses come on the market left and right, but we're
- 17:19also seeing some houses sit on the market. We're hearing our clients say this
- 17:25house has been on the market for twenty five days. This house been on
- 17:27the market thirty five days. And they're striking some deals on these because some
- 17:32of the sellers have found other houses they want to move, they're moving out
- 17:36of state, and they're like, wow, if you'll make me an offer
- 17:38on my house, I may accept it. But We had a client the
- 17:41other day. They made an offer on a seven hundred and fifty thousand dollar
- 17:44house and they made it for seven hundred thousand. They didn't get it at
- 17:48that but they got it for seven hundred and twenty thousand and it was listed
- 17:51for seven fifty. So we haven't seen some of that before. But you've
- 17:55got to be preapproved up front. You've got to know what's important to the
- 17:57seller. Do we need to close quick? And our specialty is getting purchases
- 18:02done in eight to fifteen days, so we're doing it every single day for
- 18:04our customers and that is music to seller's ears. So you want to make
- 18:08sure that you're playing the right song. So give Rodney and his team a
- 18:11call. They can help you out nine seven two nine eight five fifty two
- 18:15hundred nine seven two nine eight five fifty two hundred or again that website Rodney
- 18:18Anderson dot com and if M Lending is an Equal housing lender three thousand Village
- 18:22Parkway, Suite four hundred, Higland Village, Texas and mlist two three two
- 18:25nine. Business online at treehouse onhair dot com. You're in the Treehouse busites
- 18:34US online at Treehouse OnAir dot com. This segment of the Treehouse is brought

- 18:56know is going to happen at some point, just a matter of time.
- 19:00Eight three three Cook DFW or the website cook dfw dot com. Now that
- 19:04we've got the special announcement out of the way, Yeah, now I think
- 19:12that'll actually free raj Uph to start thinking about how how it is he would
- 19:18like to celebrate, especially Tray, since we're throwing so much money at him.
- 19:22Yeah, backed up, Yeah, I just I'm assuming there's the stock
- 19:30options. Is that where the realm? Is this the back end money kicks
- 19:36in? Is that what happens? Uh crash right? He knows about He
- 19:40knows about back end stuff. No, I think I'll just take a I'll
- 19:45just I'll head up to my my spot and grab somebody eat. It's a
- 19:48it's a very nice thing. I don't I'm not. I'm forty seven,
- 19:52I'm not. Celebration is a very low key term, like like ce.
- 19:59Celebrating sounds exhausting, you know what I mean, Like celebrations like how are
- 20:02you gonna celebrate? That? Sounds like I have to I have to work
- 20:06to plan something. I just I'm gonna I'll probably go up to Oat uh
- 20:10and grab. They have a phenomenal burger so uh, I'll probably while you're
- 20:14there hit him up for some advertising. I'm there enough, I probably should
- 20:19um. But yeah, nothing nothing crazy. I'm not gonna do anything like
- 20:23I don't know. I'm too old to to to celebrate, to celebrate.
- 20:29I don't know nothing, nothing wild nothing uh at an age now where Yeah,
- 20:36you say celebrate, I'm thinking I'm gonna have a nice steak dinner and
- 20:40and then I'm gonna be in bed by ten o'clock. Yeah. I just
- 20:45you know, when I think celebrated you, I always look at you YouTube
- 20:49and I'm like, they're white people celebrate Like that's like like you guys do
- 20:55outlandish stuff. You guys will do like big momentous things. I'm Indian like,
- 21:00like even like my dad's sixtieth birthday. I think we went to El
- 21:03Phoenix like that, like he hit a milestone or like who wants enchiladas,
- 21:07Like that's all it was. Like, I don't think that's necessarily a culturally
- 21:11specific thing. I think that's an age related thing where you don't want a
- 21:15big deal made out of certain things. But I mean when you're or you
- 21:18will celebrate like a wild person, you know, whether it's your birthday or
- 21:23you know, life or something. I don't I think it is called like
- 21:29like you guys will like will do like to like skydive, or you'll bungee
- 21:33jump or you'll And when I say you guys, I mean white people,
- 21:37uh specifically, like that's a very that's a very white people thing. Like
- 21:41when you're like, who's who's skydiving, I'm like, let's I'm jumping out
- 21:45of the plane. Is not something like my body's not designed to do that,
- 21:49like I will. I will actually ACQUI us on that because whenever I've
- 21:53seen skydiving videos or bungee jumping videos, it's very very rare that it's a
- 22:00person of color saying hey watch this. Yeah. I mean it's like like
- 22:03I'm not I'm not gonna I'm not climbing Everest, like Everest is in India
- 22:08and it's always white people climbing it there's no peoples. Yeah, but but
- 22:15even then they're just like, that's that's going to work. Like they're not,
- 22:19yeah, that is that's Tuesday for them. They're they're not celebrating being
- 22:23cancer free like they're They're they're like, uh, it's Monday, and we
- 22:29gotta take these white people up to the top. That's exactly what it is.
- 22:32It's like it's like the white people, they they they we get up
- 22:34on at the We get it on the top of Everest. Like, take
- 22:37a photo of us. We look fantastic. Look at we have done.
- 22:40We have made it to the top of Everest. Meanwhile, the poor shirt
- 22:44had taken the photos like no, I dragged your ass up here. Yeah.
- 22:47Basically, he's like, I gotta do this again today, So can
- 22:49we wrap this up? And like that show starts at four people moving.
- 22:56I got a four pm Everest at an eight pm for us, like and
- 23:00I've got an early K two in the morning. Let's yeah, I got
- 23:06a double feature. What's awful? This is like the double insult of the
- 23:14sherpas is there's a whole documentary on Prime about this. It's not only they
- 23:18risk their lives basically catering to the fantasies of raj is right, it's white
- 23:23people. Let's be let's be fully correct. Tray, it's rich white people.
- 23:30Oh yeah, yeah's tray and I are not doing it. Let me
- 23:33get to the right demographic. My apology. They then they had to go
- 23:37up on Everest. It basically risk all their lives to clean Everest up because
- 23:42of all the trash all the white people have left on the way up there.
- 23:45That and there's also when people don't realize, like if you get hurt,
- 23:51they just leave you there. Yeah, so there's people literally, it's
- 23:55not it's not just Cliff Bars, it's people. Yeah, it's Cliff.
- 24:02You canna have to walk around Cliff. There's like there's people there, like
- 24:04there's there are very few people who have like there's like one hundred and seventy
- 24:08people up there dead, and very few of them actually just fell and died
- 24:14instantly. Most of them, you know, it's a sprained ankle or something
- 24:15where they can't get down and there there is no like unless the conditions are
- 24:21just perfect and you got like a one percent chance you're staying up here,
- 24:25that's your Yeah, it's like this I was reading. I was just reading
- 24:29about this, we we've we lost another another white person. Uh of the
- 24:36French persuasion. He was a daredevil and he's now dead at thirty. Because
- 24:41if you're known as a French daredevil, you're you're euro Bits coming early.
- 24:48I'm just saying, I thought, friend, there's something the French won't wave
- 24:51a white flag. App I just fitted French and Daredevil's like, oh,
- 24:57he's gluten free. I don't know that. I don't know. I don't
- 25:02know what that is. But he felt like he felt as this happened yesterday.
- 25:04I believe that he felt to his death. He was on the sixty
- 25:08eighth floor of a building in Hong Kong and and he at thirty and I'm
- 25:14like, what, like, how bored are you with life by thirty that
- 25:18you're like, let me climb stuff, let me like, let me climb
- 25:22to the top of this build. And then here's the funniest part of that
- 25:25story. And I know he's dead and it's nothing. You can't laugh at
- 25:27that. He can't. Here's why, yeah you can. It's it's not
- 25:30like it's not like he was abducted and someone put him on the edge of
- 25:36the building. That's my thought. When they go because it says here has
- 25:40tragically passed away. I'm like tragically no, no, no, he just
- 25:45died tragically. Is if like one of us falls out of a sixty eighth
- 25:48story building, that's tragic? Why? Because we didn't want to? Yeah,
- 25:53there's why. If the story ends up that I fell from a sixty
- 25:57eighth story there's a five part Netflix series on how I got to that point,
- 26:06and it's gonna be some creepy too. To make sure that not only
- 26:12is his death an in depth Netflix docuseries, but it's also at least two
- 26:18seasons of a podcast, the Rise and Fall of dread Home. Yeah,
- 26:27like, what did they put him through to get him up sixty eight floor?
- 26:30That's what I'm saying. Like people are like, hey, did you
- 26:33ever go a skiing? I'm like, hey man, I'm Indian. If
- 26:37you see me sliding down a mountain on wooden planks, I owed somebody money,
- 26:41Like that's why that's the only reason you want to go skydiving. No,
- 26:48I don't want to do any of those things. You want to go
- 26:49bunch. That's why I like whenever I hear stuff like when they go you
- 26:52know what, he fell out of a sixty eighth, So he was climbing
- 26:56the sixty eight on the sixtieth floor of this building. That he climbed,
- 27:00I'm like, well, then he died. Okay, you'll never read that
- 27:03about me. You'll you'll be like, man, he choked, it oaked,
- 27:07like that's what. That's what. That's that's the clue. That's the
- 27:10most tragic thing you're gonna read. He's like on the whiskey bacon. Oh
- 27:12man, that sucks. That's it. Nothing yet that you died doing what
- 27:18you love. And I hope they first of all, as a as a
- 27:25hindude, please don't put hamburger in my obituary. Like, let's just leave
- 27:30that part out. I'm not supposed to be eating that. But like,
- 27:34this guy's like and the story ends with and I'm not making this up.
- 27:38Uh he was. He was stuck on the outside of the building and he's
- 27:44banging on the window for help. Uh. And a housekeeper saw it went
- 27:49to get help, and he fell before the police could get there. This
- 27:53part is my poor housekeeper. That's what I remember. One tragic part of
- 27:59this story. That's where a housekeeper because not only did she have to witness
- 28:03this man quote unquote stuck outside in the building, but she had to go
- 28:07find help, and when she gets back, he's not there, which is
- 28:11a problem, which is a twofold problem there, first of which is her
- 28:15credibility is instantly questioned by the by the authorities that she brought to. They're
- 28:22like really, really again again, rita, okay, whatever. And then
- 28:27after the fact, she has to find out that the guy died. So
- 28:30now she's probably gonna have some guilt about the fact that she didn't get help
- 28:34fast enough, or that she wasn't able to properly convince the help that no,
- 28:38really, there's a crazy white there's a crazy white guy out outside and
- 28:42he needs help. Yeah, And it says the best part of the story.
- 28:47It says police are still investigating. I'm like, what we can wrap
- 28:52this crime up? Guys, like this would be over before lunch, Like
- 28:56what happened? I really? I think the only investigation is is just checked
- 29:00the phone because they usually record that stuff. And if he's they found his
- 29:04camera at the scene. They found his camera and he was performing little stunts
- 29:11on top of the sixty eighth floor and then he locked himself out. Um
- 29:17so if then if you want to call that part tragic. He locked himself
- 29:22out again, I don't think that's tragic. Like if it was, I
- 29:26don't either. But my own theory is like when you're when you're planning,
- 29:32Like when you're planning, I'm I'm thirty, I'm French. Um, I'm
- 29:37gonna climb a building that I think that's the three part process. I'm white,
- 29:42white, French and thirty. Go do this at some point you go,
- 29:47can I lock myself out? Like, that's not part of the plant.
- 29:49I don't know how it works because it will never happen to me.
- 29:52You'll never hear that. You'll never like, man, he locked himself out
- 29:56where the seventieth floor? No, no, No, that doesn't happen to
- 30:00never, Like, how do you not think of that? Like the contingencies
- 30:04right and wait? Lock you're how if you lock yourself out, you're on
- 30:11a balcony, You wait for someone to come, you know, show up,
- 30:14scream for your neighbors. Yeah, I mean again, clearly, clearly
- 30:19gravity was holding a gun to his head, and it's it's all of that.
- 30:23It's like, but I have friends at surfing in LA and you want
- 30:26to go surfing. No, Well, there's you know how it's impossible.
- 30:32It's almost impossible to get bit by a shark. We'll tell not to the
- 30:33girl who made a movie where she was missing an arm. I don't want
- 30:37to. I don't. I don't want to. I don't want her to
- 30:38be the raj Arma story where you're like it was the first time he surfed
- 30:41and he lost his leg. I don't. I don't need any of them.
- 30:45I'm good. I'm gonna be a great it'd be a great stand up
- 30:48special though it would be yeah wow, I mean he's I mean in his
- 30:56it's not so much as stand up special as it is a lean to.
- 31:03I would call it lean on me, I mean, or don't lean on
- 31:14God damn this show on foot. You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us
- 31:23online a Treehouse on air dot com. I always love the look of disgust
- 31:38on Dan's face. Time not a welcome into the treehouse. Daniel Cook from
- 31:45Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration. The phone number that you can use to get
- 31:49that free roof inspection is eight three three cook DFW. The website cook dfw
- 31:53dot com. So Daniel, I know you're outside a lot as a roofer.
- 31:57That means you're on roofs a lot in this heat. Ever had anybody
- 32:01call you because they're roof melted dan Not exactly, but pretty close. We've
- 32:07been on some roofs that you would not leave how much the shingles have cracked
- 32:12and separate it and started to literally disintegrate on some of these homes. And
- 32:16it's scary because a lot of people had no idea that actually heat can ruin
- 32:22your roof. Just like you know, everybody's always panicking about hail and wind,
- 32:25but the sun and the heat that we get here in North Texas is
- 32:30damaging very much to our roofs. And so even if you do not think
- 32:34you have damage, you need to get your roof inspected annually. And that
- 32:37was one of the biggest reasons. Why is the heat that we have here.
- 32:40Nothing can sustain it long term. So you got to protect your home
- 32:45and do yourself a favor. Call us out. We love to check it.
- 32:47If you have these type of damages, we can at least alert you
- 32:51to them before they get worse. And that's why it's such a great thing
- 32:53that cook DFW Roofing and Restoration offers that free roof inspection, Like Daniel said,
- 32:59they'll come out take a look and not cost you anything to do so,
- 33:02so give them a call eight three three cook DFW. That's eight three
- 33:06three cook DFW or that website cookdfw dot com, us online, that treehouse
- 33:12OnAir dot com. Let's welcome Jaqueline from Brooks Plumbing into the treehouse. Their
- 33:17phone number is two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight. The
- 33:22website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com for any and all of your plumbing needs.
- 33:27Have you ever had this happened where someone calls you and says, well,
- 33:30I tried to do it myself, can you fix it? I see this
- 33:34all the time, and I see it a lot of times when the homeowner
- 33:37wants to save money and they want to try and alleviate the problem by themselves.
- 33:43Most recently, I had a homeowner who went to one of the places
- 33:46like home depot and rented a sewer snake or an augur, whatever you want
- 33:50to call it, and they were trying to unstop the sewer, but they
- 33:53got the cable stuck and they broke the cable in the sewer system. And
- 34:00does happen every way, It's happened to us before, but we know how
- 34:02to get it out, and it's a it's a time consuming effort. I've
- 34:07also had homeowners who tried to do really simple things like repipe underneath the bathroom
- 34:10vanity sink, and they go and they buy these flexible drains, which are
- 34:15awesome to work with because they're so easy to install, but they're not always
- 34:20the best material and it's easy to miss maybe an air gap or getting things
- 34:24at the right angle so that they can drain properly, and then all of
- 34:28a sudden, the sink's overflowing and you've left to go to work, and
- 34:30now it's all over the floor when you get home, and you had no
- 34:32idea it was even happening. I always say best to leave power and water
- 34:37to the professionals, because those are two things you don't want to screw up,
- 34:40because if you screw them up, then that makes it worse. It's
- 34:43going to cost you more money. That's why I call Rooks Plumbing two one
- 34:46four thirty eight thirty eight. That's two one four three six eight thirty eight
- 34:50thirty eight, or of course that website Rooks Plumbing Texas dot com. Thanks
- 34:52Jacqueline Thank you. You're in book. Freehouse. Visit us online at Treehouse
- 35:04OnAir dot com. This segment of the Treehouse is brought to you by Brooks
- 35:10Plumbing. Brooks Plumbing their phone number two one four three six eight thirty eight
- 35:15thirty eight. That is two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight,
- 35:20the website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com for any end all of your plumbing
- 35:24once and needs. They also love helping first time homebuyers, so if you're
- 35:30not really sure how plumbing works, will be happy to help you out on
- 35:32that as well. They do it all at Brooks Plumbing two one four three
- 35:38six eight thirty eight thirty eight or Brooksplumbing Texas dot com. So I think
- 35:42one of the major takeaways out of that that previous segment was at gravity is
- 35:52not a tragedy, right, Gravity is under quote unquote death. Define that
- 36:00has to do with dangling yourself out the window or a balcony or off the
- 36:04edge of a sixty eight story of a building. That's pretty much just gonna
- 36:08be on you. Yeah, if you fall up sixty eight floors, that's
- 36:13a tragedy. Yeah, if you get sucked up and in fall that's sad.
- 36:20Look if you go up there, my whole thing again in my head,
- 36:22I'm like, can I lock myself out? How did I get there?
- 36:29Do I have a key? Maybe? You know, Roger, you
- 36:30mentioned how the authorities, like in the story, authorities said they're still investigating.
- 36:35Maybe that's what they're doing, is they're investigating to see did he bring
- 36:38a door jam? And right, maybe so if he did, maybe there
- 36:44was some foul play. Maybe maybe someone saw him out there and it's like
- 36:49ooh, and then they go upstairs and see, I don't know, they
- 36:52see the door jam and like, well, this door is not supposed to
- 36:53be open, and they just pull it. I mean, who knows.
- 36:55Wouldn't that wouldn't that just be qualified as occupationalzard right? Like you could fall
- 37:02like my thing is oh as a as a daredevil, yes, Like what
- 37:07can future daredevils learn from this? And I'm thinking daredevil in the buddy system
- 37:13need to kind of like have have a friend there in case the door shuts
- 37:16like that, like maybe your friend isn't the daredevil, maybe you are,
- 37:21and he's scared and he's like, you know what, I'll watch the door.
- 37:24That makes sense. I'd absolutely makes sense. Yeah, because even like
- 37:29like you were saying, I would do that for you, I'll do that
- 37:30for you, guys. For you is I'm not ever going to be dangling
- 37:35myself off the edge of a sixty eight story tall building. Good, I'm
- 37:39not going to do it on eight stories. That's why. That's why we're
- 37:43friends. We all like the ground. But like, but like even with
- 37:46the diving thing, with scuba diving and saying or what or surfing or something
- 37:51and you get nibbled on by a shark. Those are two activities where typically
- 37:54they suggest take a friend with you just in case. Yeah, I mean
- 37:59I don't, yeah, I just uh, if I'm in your hood,
- 38:02like I'm not going I'm not going swimming in the ocean. That's your place.
- 38:06Like why if like, now a different story, like if I'm sitting
- 38:09in a restaurant on on uh in Santa Monica or Malibu and a shark walks
- 38:15in and bites me, that's kind of a dick move. Yeah, that's
- 38:21fair, you know what I mean, Like that's a solid like, hey
- 38:22man, what the flip side is if you if you go into their soup
- 38:24bowl and stick your leg in, well yeah, yeah, then fair,
- 38:30that's fair when people are like that they lost an arm. No, it's
- 38:35not sad that you were there. He was like, you know what,
- 38:37it's time for lunch. Lunch is swimming by a lot, so I'm hungry.
- 38:44Let me. It's it's like being at the revolving It's all these items.
- 38:50You're like, Oh, that looks cool, that looks like the that
- 38:52looks new and interesting. That must be the monthly special. I'm gonna flip
- 38:54the lid and try that for your predator. That's the other thing is your
- 39:00predator has really bad eyesight. Do you have anything? Do you have anything?
- 39:07In a white tourist, This has been fun. It's been able to
- 39:15actually uh like most things that happened with this show, not just for listeners,
- 39:21but also for us. It helps it. It serves as a as
- 39:24a distraction for the for the real things going on in our lives. Like,
- 39:28for example, Uh, I can't hang hang around too much longer because
- 39:32I've I've got a contractor coming over to the house and just a little bit
- 39:36that you know, I've got to do stuff with for what But what's so
- 39:42important? Yeah, what's more important than this? Dan? Well, my
- 39:47wife's sanity and therefore my sanity the gou. So I think you two both
- 39:54know that that that tera my wife is and I'm not exaggerating this at all.
- 40:00She is phobic when it comes to roaches, okay, and she's gotten
- 40:07better over the years, meaning how she stopped burning down the places that we've
- 40:10lived, I'm kidding there. Uh, there's only actually been one place that
- 40:20we have lived where we were like where we had to move, and that
- 40:23was that was an apartment in Addison we lived in. And typically, you
- 40:28know, when there's roaches around, people like, oh, you're dirty.
- 40:30I agree with that, except this one place we lived in and Addison.
- 40:35It was where it was a first floor apartment the very back of the complex.
- 40:38It was shaded, it was wet, everything that a roach loves,
- 40:42and whatever we did like, they were there when we got there. We
- 40:45couldn't get rid of them. So we moved and had the apartment complex transfer
- 40:49us to a different spot. We found a sunny spot on the third floor
- 40:52and never saw a roach again. But everywhere we've lived, we've you know,
- 40:57we've we've been clean and we've never really had a roach problem except that
- 41:00apartment and until now so so the house we're in right now. Clearly the
- 41:07people that were here before it was I don't know if it was clutter or
- 41:12they had food particles left out or what. But we didn't have the problem
- 41:16before. And now we have this problem where roaches keep coming out and it's
- 41:22like clockwork the first and it's like around it's sunsets, around eight eight thirty
- 41:28they start coming out from underneath the kitchen stove. Yeah, and and living
- 41:36with someone who is phobic when it comes to roaches, we can't have an
- 41:39enjoyable evening watching a Top Chef or Shitt's Creek or yellow Stone or whatever it
- 41:45is, because she's always side eyeing that kitchen because she can see any little
- 41:51movement which is not little. They're they're they're the big em efforts or they're
- 41:54the big Texas roaches. Any little movement she's she's looking ship. She would
- 42:01have made a hell of a cornerback in the NFL if because the football looks
- 42:05like a roach. Oh my god. Anyway, and when when she has
- 42:10affected that much, I am affected that much because then in the middle of
- 42:14the night she wakes up and now she's thinking, oh my god, and
- 42:16this is what happens in someone's brain when they're this messed up when it comes
- 42:21to something that they're phobic about. Is she's assuming that since she's seen one,
- 42:27there's thousands and they all wait to come out until she closes her eyes.
- 42:31And now it's like a sea of nasty roaches around the bed. And
- 42:35so she wake up the middle of the night. She's turning her phone on,
- 42:37she's looking the flashlights, she's looking around. Wow. And so I've
- 42:43spent a good chunk of my time the last few evenings killing roaches, looking
- 42:49like an idiot, bouncing around on the hardwood floors because those in mephors are
- 42:52fast. Can't can't you do the Does they have stuff for that, like
- 42:58the little roach that. Yeah, so there's the roach baits and things.
- 43:02But I've seen those roach bits and I don't think they're big enough for the
- 43:06ones we got. Oh really, they're like that big that bit. Yeah,
- 43:08they're where they're like they're like the two to three inches. Oh no,
- 43:13yeah, I'm not even phobic and making my skin crawl. You don't
- 43:15have your you know how your pets with you see just bomb the house.
- 43:20Yeah that's what. So we we have an exterminator coming today, and that's
- 43:23gonna be my thing, is to tell him fix this because this morning,
- 43:32this morning, at like four thirty in the morning, Uh, I go
- 43:39to the bathroom and I come out of the bathroom and all the lights in
- 43:42the bedroom are on because I got up and will tear it up. And
- 43:45now she's she's looking around for the roaches, which, of course what happens
- 43:47in the middle of the night. If you're looking for roaches and you've had
- 43:50a roach problem, you can find some. Yeah, So at like like
- 43:53four thirty in the morning, I had to kill a bear of roaches and
- 43:57try to go back to sleep. Wow, the the exterminator man cannot come
- 44:01here fast enough, as has Tara had the thought yet that she better inspect
- 44:08you all stuff really well before you go back to the islands, so you're
- 44:12not carrying a roach with you. Oh yeah, no, that's that's that's
- 44:15already been happening. Everything will be everything will be turned upside down. And
- 44:21that's actually I'm glad you brought that up, Trey. So, uh,
- 44:24islands have lots of roaches, like Hawaii has the really big hissing cockroaches.
- 44:31Where we live on St. Thomas has lots of roaches, and they're just
- 44:35roaches everywhere. It's a water bug. It's where we live, it's human,
- 44:37it's moist, it's a perfect environment for them. It's been I think
- 44:42we've seen one roach maybe two inside of our house since in the year that
- 44:47we've been living there. So that gives you an idea. We're not like
- 44:51roach attractors. God, so the roaches on the islands have better manners.
- 44:58Maybe maybe that's what it is. They're just they're just Yeah, they've got
- 45:01they've got they're well behaved. They they stay outside. They know, let's
- 45:06not bother the people inside made them. When they come out, it's pretty
- 45:09outside. I'm sure there's some great views. So if you're going to be
- 45:15an island roach, you might as well live the island style, right,
- 45:17I guess that makes sense. Yeah, I think that where they can stay
- 45:20outside, enjoy the enjoy the trade winds, whereas in Texas there is no
- 45:23trade wind it's just blast furnace, and so they want to come inside where
- 45:27there's hair conditioning. Yeah, isn't there wasn't there a horror movie where it
- 45:30was just all attack of the roaches or what. Yeah, it's called My
- 45:34Life raj No. But I just in the horror movie like the I think
- 45:38there's one scene if I remember this correctly, as a kid, like the
- 45:42guy opens the closet door and it's just a billion of them come out,
- 45:46and it's like, how this whole like everybody, It's like the attack of
- 45:50I don't know what the movie was called, but um can't in the movie,
- 45:52I think they can. They can like bour into your like they can
- 45:57have eggs in your ears and stuff not. You know what the good thing
- 46:00is is I can actually put a warning on this episode, and I think
- 46:05I might be able to lock my wife from absolutely listening to this. I'm
- 46:10just saying, I mean, they can lay eggs in your in then they
- 46:14just grow in your head. Shut up, rag, I'm saying in the
- 46:19movie. I'm not saying in real life. That's not going to hear in
- 46:23the movie. She didn't hear that in the movie. Disclaimer, she heard
- 46:28the roaches are gonna lay eggs in my ears. But I will say this,
- 46:31there is there. I always like to try to find at least some
- 46:35silver lining. A positive twist is something negative going on, you know,
- 46:38okay, And that is despite all the issues we've had with roaches around dinner
- 46:44time and overnight and having to kill them in the middle of the night,
- 46:47which, by the way, I had to run around the backyard last night
- 46:52with my shoe like someone's pissed off Mama, swatting at a couple of them
- 47:00roaches. They do today, trade it gives it gives me the proper excuse
- 47:09to play one of our all time favorite commercials in the history of television and
- 47:15sports, that is this one. Let see here, make sure you can
- 47:20see it and hear it. I can move anything on two legs, but
- 47:24even me, the greatest, needs to help beating things with six legs,
- 47:29I mean roaches. I'm gonna show you how you can move roaches with power.
- 47:37I did not know that that existed in the world. Really, here's
- 47:40the thing. Here's the thing. This was not a one off commercial.
- 47:43He did multiple over years. This was a year's long partnership between Muhammad Ali
- 47:49and d Con. How do you how do you Okay, I'm a gob
- 47:54smacked right now. I don't even know. I'll let him continue to explain
- 47:58to you. What is it? Trede rog How do you what? How
- 48:01do you get Muhammad like, what's the pitch, Like, how much money?
- 48:06Don King screed you out of millions? You want some money? Oh
- 48:08okay, yeah, you got to turn into a pitch man and just pitch
- 48:13whatever product they throw at you. M D. By the way, this
- 48:19is from this is from nineteen seventy nine. Power DCON. It's not like
- 48:24regular sphrase as an automatic room foger. It wipes out roaches in the whole
- 48:30room. I don't want you living with roaches. I can out with DCON
- 48:35powers DCON more power to you. Wow, I with roaches. I just
- 48:45see Muhammad Ali saves the day. And if if something doesn't work with this
