- 0:24welcome back. What's going on?
- 0:26I wanted to do this video because last week, I reviewed a
- 0:29Disney film called Loop, which is a story and animated Disney
- 0:32short available on the Disney Plus app for the, you know,
- 0:36digital Tech. If you've got an Apple TV,
- 0:37that's what I watch it on or you can use on your iPhone or
- 0:39whatever, but the Disney Plus app A bunch of different movies
- 0:42on their from Disney and they have this thing called Disney
- 0:44shot. Now, these are about 9 to 11
- 0:46minutes long and this, this particular movie, I watched last
- 0:50week was called Loop, which is about an artistic nonverbal
- 0:53girl, who was out on a lake on a canoe, with a guy, you know, a
- 0:57young guy and it was really, really fun and it was a good
- 0:59movie. So if you want to check out my
- 1:01review of that, I will leave that in the link down below and
- 1:04the description of this video. So you can check that out as
- 1:06well. And in the show notes, if you're
- 1:07listening on the podcast, now, in terms of Disney shot, W.
- 1:11I came across another one called float.
- 1:13Now, I heard about this movie because when I released my video
- 1:17about Loop, a lot of people are comments that you have to check
- 1:19out flow and I was already aware and we float was on my radar and
- 1:22I thought, okay, look it looks similar, it has a similar feel
- 1:25and then you is about something kind of, that could be related
- 1:28to autism so I thought I'd check it out now, float is a good
- 1:31movie and I have connected it to autism, but I think that you
- 1:37could actually connected to anything, that let me go over
- 1:39it. So the movie flow Starts off
- 1:41with a young guy, young, father, you know, as young man, he's got
- 1:45this little baby's, a toddler talking about, and the kids,
- 1:47really cute. And they're playing about in the
- 1:49garden. And then, the kid old sudden
- 1:50starts to float. Like the supernatural ability,
- 1:52just floats away. And the dad has a lot of fun
- 1:55with the kid. But then when he realizes that
- 1:56people stopping and staring and pointing, and all these kind of
- 1:59things, he kind of says, oh, and he got a panic, she was like,
- 2:03oh, and he goes inside the house and closes door, closes the
- 2:05curtains, kind of like traps himself inside.
- 2:07Now, to me, this instantly is a really good representation of
- 2:11how How you feel when you feel that you are different in
- 2:14society or because Society house judging mechanisms to judge you
- 2:17for being different even though, you know, there's no reason for
- 2:20them to judge you, you know, you're different and that's who
- 2:22you are, and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 2:23And I think that this film in it really encapsulates, that
- 2:27feeling you get, when you're like, oh my goodness, I am
- 2:28different. And people looking at me staring
- 2:30at me. What do I do now in the movie,
- 2:33you see, the kid grows up and, you know, still floating about
- 2:36the house. And the dad has a lot of fun,
- 2:38you know, playing about with his kid and stuff and they walk past
- 2:41us. Park and there's a lot of
- 2:43children playing in the park and he wants to know, the little boy
- 2:45wants to play in the park, but his dad's like, no, you know, we
- 2:48can't because, you know, he's putting rocks in his backpack
- 2:51because he's like floating and stuff, and he's growing and he's
- 2:53becoming, you know, more floaty because he's growing bigger and
- 2:56bigger house, but more Roxanne's backpack, and then as he stops
- 2:59to look over thinking, probably to himself, or, you know, we
- 3:02can't play in parks, and I'm really upset about it.
- 3:04His kid runs off to play in the park, but floats off because
- 3:07he's taking off his backpack. Think I was cool.
- 3:10And the kid is running about Out and are floating about and
- 3:13freaking all the other kids out and watch presented in.
- 3:16The parents are looking really weird and taking their kids
- 3:18away. And they're trying to say, like,
- 3:19you know, Don't Go Near this kid and, you know, this kid's got
- 3:22something wrong with them because they're floating around.
- 3:23This isn't normal, you know what they perceive as being normal,
- 3:26and then the dad goes in there and as I know, you know, starts
- 3:29dragging the kid out of the park and then stopped suddenly and
- 3:32says, why can't you just be normal?
- 3:34And then the kid kind of like, you know, floods down and
- 3:37deflated and just becomes this really sad is quite an Acting
- 3:41part of the movie and his dad, then just carries the kid
- 3:45realizes that he didn't mean that.
- 3:46He just said it out of anger. And then guess that's a lot of
- 3:48people may feel that they want to scream that but even though
- 3:52they don't feel that because, you know, they see pressure from
- 3:55people around and I don't like using the terminal more,
- 3:57nobody's to ever lash out what a kid goodness me.
- 3:59But I'm just saying that the feeling that it's representing,
- 4:02the feeling that it's putting out there that you could
- 4:04potentially relate to. And then he takes his kidney,
- 4:07sit down on the swings with his kid, and then, he, he takes a
- 4:10lot of kids. Her down as if to say like you
- 4:12know, you don't need to hide who you are.
- 4:14Hey, just go for it and then he like lots of kid floor about and
- 4:16then he is stabbed on the swing and the kids falling about and
- 4:18they're having a good time and he's kind of like, I don't care
- 4:21what any of the parents think here.
- 4:23I'm ashamed. Of the fact that I told my kid,
- 4:25I wanted to be normal but you know, I love them just the way
- 4:27they are and I wanted to have fun and I want have fun with
- 4:30them and experience that. I mean just wool like, you know,
- 4:36to me that represents autism like a hidden disability that he
- 4:40was looking to. A problem like an issue that is
- 4:42kid, wasn't normal quote-unquote and it just absolutely blew me
- 4:47away where he had this this real strong emotional character that
- 4:54you could really relate to you now because the kid is floating
- 4:56and not doing anything specifically disabled or
- 4:59disabling in society, in the views of society, you could are
- 5:02one could relate this to anything.
- 5:03It could be, you know, ADHD, autism, severe learning
- 5:06difficulties nonverbal autism. It could be anything.
- 5:09Now, I think that this was a step.
- 5:11Even right direction? Disney are doing fantastic.
- 5:13Work flow isn't fantastic, Loop is fantastic.
- 5:17The fact that they have these videos out showing disabilities
- 5:21is just it's just outrageously. Phenomenal.
- 5:23I'm really I'm just like blown away.
- 5:25Like I saw it and I was like, wow.
- 5:28Like oh my God. This is so good.
- 5:32However, my only issue is that the not long enough, I'd love to
- 5:35see like I gave, you know, Loop 9 out of 10 because it didn't
- 5:40get the extra point because it wasn't long enough, but then
- 5:43again, you know, is at our 10 movie, it just isn't long enough
- 5:45and the same with Flo flowers at our 10 from me, just not while
- 5:49enough Disney. I know they're called Disney
- 5:50shorts. Maybe won't you take these ideas
- 5:52from Disney shorts and then turn them into movies.
- 5:54Full length movies because I think this is the way that we
- 5:57get people to realize and understand hidden disabilities
- 6:00neurological. Disabilities.
- 6:02Things like that because by trying to do real life action
- 6:05movies like Syria and the whole controversy surrounding her film
- 6:08music and you know, going off what we have, what rain man.
- 6:11And, you know, they're not equal Fair representation so just like
- 6:14the had to represent and of course they get a lot of
- 6:16backlash because if you're putting real characters to play
- 6:19you know, autistic people who and that those real life
- 6:22characters and autistic and they're playing real-life
- 6:25autistic people. It becomes very murky, muddy
- 6:27water and you get a lot of controversy like what's
- 6:29happening with see it, and I've done a lot about that again.
- 6:31I will A link that discussion playlist in the description this
- 6:35video and in the show notes, if you want to check out my
- 6:37discussion on the CM music controversy because it's an
- 6:39ongoing saga, but in terms of one of the solutions, how would
- 6:42you get around? The how did you get around the
- 6:44issue? Like if you were in Seattle,
- 6:46listening, what's this movie about Austin?
- 6:47What would you do? And I guess that would be the
- 6:48answer, you find somebody who's a great writer and then you
- 6:51animate it. And that way nobody is being,
- 6:55you know, misrepresented, you know you can consult with the
- 6:58right people on it and it's a cascoon can be anything.
- 7:01With float, which is fantastic. The kid.
- 7:03Floated, it didn't have any specific, you know, traits of
- 7:07any condition he was floating but it made you realize what
- 7:12that meant and it was just fantastic.
- 7:14I actually think it's great. Now, if you want to check it
- 7:17out, it's available on the Disney plus platform.
- 7:19This video isn't sponsored by Disney or anything like that.
- 7:20I mean, I would love it but it's not but I highly recommend
- 7:23checking it out because if you're someone who wants to
- 7:25learn more about it or wants to show somebody else a video, so
- 7:28they can learn more about hidden disabilities.
- 7:30This would be the one. Let me know.
- 7:31What your thoughts are on it, if you have seen it or go watch it
