- 0:00Alex: Solving America’s Problems — Jerremy and Dave just sat down with Tyler Todt,
- 0:04who dropped a stat that stops the room cold: President Obama, the guy who
- 0:09won the Nobel Peace Prize, ended up drone-striking and killing more people
- 0:13than every previous president combined.
- 0:15[thoughtful] Tyler was all-in on that hope-and-change wave back in college,
- 0:20cast his first real vote fired up… then watched the promises collapse into
- 0:25corruption, donor cash, and policies that hit exactly the opposite of what was sold.
- 0:31He hasn’t voted for a major-party candidate since.
- 0:35[exhales sharply] Turns out the system that once felt like freedom now looks
- 0:39to him — and millions of others — like a rigged game where the men in suits
- 0:43write the script no matter who wins…
- 0:47Jerremy: Dave Conley.
- 0:48What we chatting about today, my brother.
- 0:50Dave: In this week's episode of Solving America's Problems, we dive into how
- 0:54political promises often shatter into disillusionment, leaving voters picking
- 0:58the lesser of two evils, while money from big donors owns the candidates.
- 1:02It's a system where hope turns to hype and personal responsibility
- 1:05becomes the real path forward.
- 1:08Joining us is Tyler Tote, a dedicated husband and father who's
- 1:12transformed lives as a health coach for leaders and high achievers.
- 1:15Building a dedicated online community through uplifting
- 1:18guidance on mindset and vitality.
- 1:21His own journey from early political excitement to seeing
- 1:24through the corruption mirrors what so many face today.
- 1:28And that's this week on solving America's problems from Obama.
- 1:31Hope to voter dissolution, breaking the cycle of broken promises with Tyler tote.
- 1:37Jerremy: Voting in America right that's become a frustrating maze
- 1:43of gerrymandered districts felony disenfranchisement, hitting millions,
- 1:50and technology vulnerabilities like deep fakes eroding trust.
- 1:55With turnout, lagging, and institutions facing record low confidence, we're
- 1:59left asking how did the ballot box turn into a battleground?
- 2:03And what bold fixes can turn apathy into action.
- 2:07My name is Jerremy Alexander Newsom.
- 2:09My co-host Conley, and this.
- 2:13Is solving America's problems.
- 2:15Joining us is my dog, Tyler Tote, a dedicated husband and father who's
- 2:22transformed lives as a health coach to leaders and high achievers,
- 2:26building a dedicated following of more than a quarter million on X 66,000
- 2:30YouTube subscribers through uplift.
- 2:33infused guidance on mindset and vitality.
- 2:36His personal arc from Obama era hope to discontent.
- 2:41broken promises and media spin mirrors, millions of voters showing why personal
- 2:46responsibility out shines political hype.
- 2:49unpack and elevate.
- 2:51Tyler, welcome to the show.
- 2:52Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Ah, thanks so much Jerremy and Dave.
- 2:54It's an honor to be here, man.
- 2:55Can't wait to chop it up with you guys and it should be a lot of fun.
- 2:57So honored to be on man.
- 2:59Jerremy: Yeah, absolutely.
- 3:01Tyler, what's your earliest memory of voting or maybe watching someone that
- 3:07you love walk into a voting booth?
- 3:09Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah, so I can pretty vividly
- 3:11remember a couple things.
- 3:13One, I was in fifth grade, I believe, and my grandfather gave
- 3:16me a couple of Bill Clinton tags.
- 3:18And so I took him to school and I sold them for a couple bucks and said, if
- 3:22you want to be in the Clinton Club with me, I was always an entrepreneur, right?
- 3:25I didn't even know who Bill Clinton was or who he was running against, but
- 3:28that was probably my earliest memory.
- 3:30But then if you really fast forward to college.
- 3:32I never followed politics or anything, and then I bought into the
- 3:35whole Obama hope and change thing.
- 3:37And I'd been disillusioned up till that point by seeing that.
- 3:41I don't know, a lot of people might come in and say they're gonna do these things.
- 3:44Lot doesn't seem to happen.
- 3:46Then there was this new guy that came in who looked a little different, who spoke
- 3:50a little different and who said, yeah, it's not gonna be business as usual.
- 3:53There's not gonna maybe be as much corruption.
- 3:56There's not gonna maybe be as much as some of these other things.
- 3:58And so I was actually pretty on board for that.
- 4:00That was the first time I voted.
- 4:02And I really cared.
- 4:03And at that time for better or worse, I was a professional
- 4:04poker player in college.
- 4:06And I had heard Obama loves poker.
- 4:08He's all for freedom, all this stuff too.
- 4:10So there was a lot of reasons pushing me towards that.
- 4:13But that was the first time I was pretty amped about it.
- 4:16Jerremy: Yeah.
- 4:16Whoa.
- 4:17It makes sense.
- 4:17It's also an age thing too, right?
- 4:19As we get older, we start to.
- 4:20Tuning in and checking in and getting in there.
- 4:23go back to the most recent vote that you had.
- 4:26So we had a huge longest presidential vote not that long ago.
- 4:29And when you were stepping into that polling place, what emotions
- 4:34came up for you personally and have they shifted over time?
- 4:38Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah, so you know, again, if I were
- 4:40to go back to that 20 years ago or 15 years or whatever, when Obama was in.
- 4:44become pretty disillusioned.
- 4:45Then after I saw some of the, the guy wins the Nobel Peace Prize and, but
- 4:50he's drone struck and killed more people than every other president combined.
- 4:53So I started seeing some of this.
- 4:55Oh, Obama loves poker.
- 4:56Poker became illegal during his tender.
- 4:59Like you could go play poker legally in Iraq.
- 5:01You could not in the United States of America.
- 5:03And that was because of a very corrupt called the Port Security Bill, where they
- 5:07tack on a gambling thing because one of his biggest donors, Sheldon Anderson,
- 5:11and I could really get into that.
- 5:12But then I just became very disillusioned.
- 5:14So to be honest, I didn't vote for a main candidate after that.
- 5:17This year, I voted for third party people.
- 5:20I was really into man, the two parties are one and the same.
- 5:25I believe since Citizens United, that was the biggest turning point where
- 5:28just money can now, individual people or corporations can donate a hundred
- 5:32million, 200 million, 400 to one candidate and they just own the candidate.
- 5:36So the candidate really has to do whatever they say.
- 5:38I don't know.
- 5:38It seemed you're picking, you're always picking the lesser of two evils.
- 5:41Like when is the last time that you went to the ballot box and you're fired up?
- 5:45And you're like, man, this guy's gonna do it.
- 5:48Maybe some people feel that way about Trump.
- 5:50I think most people overreact to Trump.
- 5:52They either think he's like Hitler and Satan, or they think
- 5:55he's the second coming of Jesus.
- 5:57I tend to think he just falls somewhere in between.
- 5:58He does some good things.
- 5:59He does some really dumb things that, that's most people without
- 6:03offending too many people.
- 6:05I have testosterone in my body, so I couldn't vote for the left.
- 6:08This time I felt like there's been an attack on men and masculinity and a
- 6:14lot of those things from that side.
- 6:16and so I, in good conscience, just couldn't vote for that.
- 6:19But again I felt like I was picking the lesser two evils when
- 6:21I walked in, and made my decision.
- 6:25Jerremy: Yeah.
- 6:25I've heard that so many times when it comes to voting for the
- 6:28president of the US very frequently.
- 6:31I get, or I'll hear something to the extent of.
- 6:35There's not many choices.
- 6:37These are the only best two we can get.
- 6:40This is it.
- 6:41Dave: In their
- 6:42Jerremy: all the people out there, these are the two.
- 6:45I hear that often.
- 6:46Yeah, it your story rings true, I think with, I'm sure with so many other people.
- 6:50Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I think Jerremy, you and I went
- 6:51on a hike with a really cool other guy, so there was three of us.
- 6:54And
- 6:55Jerremy: Yep.
- 6:55Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I would guess that any one of
- 6:57us three you could probably put in, we'd be more morally sound.
- 6:59I just think you could, I don't know how we get stuck with these candidates,
- 7:03man, but maybe that's the point.
- 7:04I don't know, because we saw like a very rigged primary, right?
- 7:07Where Trump would've never won, to be honest, in 2016, Bernie
- 7:11Sanders was probably gonna beat him for better or worse.
- 7:13And then all of a sudden you just saw the Hillary Clinton, that machine come in,
- 7:17Bernie sells out, gets his third mansion.
- 7:19And you just see all this corruption, right?
- 7:21And so I don't know, maybe the whole thing is corrupt and that disillusions me.
- 7:25I think that disillusions a lot of people.
- 7:27That's why, big part of my message is yes, I do vote.
- 7:30I think it's important you wanna honor the people who fought for in the
- 7:33past, and that you have the freedom.
- 7:36it can feel almost like a, an illusion
- 7:39Jerremy: Mm-hmm.
- 7:39Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: of freedom, like no matter who you pick.
- 7:41Putin had a pretty famous saying.
- 7:42He said, I've been president through five of your presidents.
- 7:46And trust me when I say the men in suits tell them what to do, no
- 7:50matter who they are, the men in suits come and tell them what to do.
- 7:53They campaign on all these promises.
- 7:55They don't really get a choice, though.
- 7:58the older I get, the more I tend to think he, there might be a lot
- 8:00of truth in that, to be honest.
- 8:03Jerremy: That's fascinating, ma'am.
- 8:04Yeah, I think what you said a moment ago about.
- 8:07Hey, people fought and died for this.
- 8:10This ability this privilege.
- 8:12And even though we might not necessarily be making a choice
- 8:16that we know is gonna have a true impact, the fact that we should vote.
- 8:23probably should just try it, a situation, right?
- 8:25So it's like an apathy, almost more of an excitement where this is an
- 8:30opportunity for me to really do something.
- 8:32What's your general take, man on a day-to-day reality?
- 8:35So voter ID requirements you big thing.
- 8:38Like we should show voter id, should we be mailing in ballots?
- 8:42Is there something better out there?
- 8:44Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah, this seems like really easy to me, man.
- 8:46It seems really funny that I don't know.
- 8:48I go back to have you ever seen that YouTube clip of like, where that one dude
- 8:52goes down in the hood and he asks a bunch of black people like, do you have an id?
- 8:56Because there's this really weird narrative that it's racist to show an
- 9:00ID to vote and all of 150 black people and are like, yeah, of course I'll
- 9:04have an ID man, like I'm a citizen.
- 9:05I don't know, like you, you to fly on an airplane, you need an
- 9:08ID to get a driver's license.
- 9:10You need an ID to go buy a firearm.
- 9:12You need an id.
- 9:13It would just make sense that you would need an ID to vote.
- 9:16I've never really understood any I've never heard one
- 9:18good reason why that's not.
- 9:21A thing I've I know many black people and I've yet to meet one that says, man, it's
- 9:25just, I go to the DMV and every time they tell me I'm black, I can't get an id.
- 9:28Like I've never heard that in America.
- 9:31Until I do, I just think it's a pretty simple thing.
- 9:34We should have fair elections.
- 9:36People should have confidence around it.
- 9:38I don't think a lot of people did after 2020.
- 9:41and I just, don't understand why that wouldn't be a thing.
- 9:43I think we should have a national holiday, it should be that Tuesday.
- 9:48Everybody should be off the same way we have Veterans Day, Memorial Day, whatever.
- 9:51It should be, a national holiday, no school.
- 9:54Because I do think there probably are some very nefarious
- 9:56things where in certain areas.
- 9:58Um, If people work and then they close the polls at six, maybe you're gonna get
- 10:02a certain demographic that might vote a different way that can't get down there.
- 10:05So we should
- 10:06Holiday.
- 10:06Everybody should have a chance to go vote.
- 10:09But yeah, man you need to show an ID like that.
- 10:11That just seems very common sense and very logical.
- 10:14Dave: We've brought this up now three times, like when we first started this and
- 10:17I. It does seem like really basic, have an id and yet the data keeps on coming back.
- 10:24Like millions of people don't have an ID and I'm like, who are
- 10:28these people we've come around to?
- 10:31So I get the whole disenfranchise thing.
- 10:34And I get how some people might not have an id.
- 10:37Maybe they were born someplace where they don't have some source documentation.
- 10:42They don't have, social security cards.
- 10:44Maybe they don't, maybe they're homeless, right?
- 10:47And they don't have these regular things.
- 10:49And to everybody's point, it's to function in today's society, you do need an id.
- 10:55We've landed on this.
- 10:57It's not a voting problem, it's an ID problem.
- 11:01We need to really push, like making sure everybody has an id, everybody can, get
- 11:06a driver's license or something that says, Hey, like I'm in this this place.
- 11:10Because even if things require an, ID say getting social security benefits
- 11:16or getting any kind of help, you need an id and if you can show that
- 11:20you have a utility bill, then okay that's a step in the right direction.
- 11:24Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah, I'd be all for any kind of program
- 11:26that if there are millions of people that cannot get an id, again, I don't know
- 11:30how you function in life without one.
- 11:32Yeah I'm cool for making that.
- 11:34I hate the word free 'cause nothing's free.
- 11:36It's gonna be our tax dollars.
- 11:37Funding it.
- 11:38But I'm okay with our tax dollars funding, helping and ensuring that every US citizen
- 11:43has an ID or some form of documentation.
- 11:45That seems, again basic and easy to do.
- 11:47I'm just, I've met.
- 11:48Tens of thousands of people in my life and I'm yet to meet
- 11:51one who just can't get an id.
- 11:53So I don't know where that comes from.
- 11:54I'd really, I'd love to interview those people and learn and understand
- 11:59why they can't, and then maybe if we understood why we could brainstorm
- 12:02some solutions on how to, not
- 12:05Jerremy: Yeah.
- 12:05Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: that.
- 12:05But again, I'm yet to meet anyone
- 12:07Dave: It's a lot of young people too.
- 12:09So in the data, it's like a bunch of 18 year olds, a bunch of 19
- 12:12year olds, they don't have IDs.
- 12:13And I'm like, oh man, I couldn't wait to start driving.
- 12:16So it doesn't jive with me.
- 12:18But I hear you.
- 12:18It seems pretty basic to me.
- 12:20Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: and maybe that, I don't know.
- 12:22I'd bring up a point on that and say if you're 19 just too lazy to go get
- 12:27one, but you have all the means to get it, maybe you don't get to vote then.
- 12:31Because if you're too lazy to drive down to the BMV to get an id, then I
- 12:35don't really feel like you probably are contributing a lot to society.
- 12:38There's a couple arguments to be made where.
- 12:41If you're not paying taxes, if you're not a landowner or a homeowner or
- 12:45whatever, which I think that goes too far, but I could almost say if
- 12:48you're not paying any taxes and you don't have any skin in the game,
- 12:52should you really get to cast a vote?
- 12:54And I don't know.
- 12:55When I think about it from that term, I'm like we're voting because
- 12:58look the government takes about 50% of my income every year.
- 13:00If you added up income, property, fuel, inheritance, capital gains, all the taxes,
- 13:05Jerremy: lot.
- 13:06Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Oh, it's a lot.
- 13:06It's a ton, right?
- 13:08And I don't think they use all those necessarily very wisely, as we've seen
- 13:11with Doge and some of these things, right?
- 13:13But I do think if you're paying nothing and you have no skin in the game
- 13:17at all, then becomes a big problem where you're just gonna vote for
- 13:21whoever promises you the most stuff.
- 13:24I'm gonna give you a free cell phone and free housing and free this, and
- 13:27free that, which really isn't free.
- 13:29It's coming from the people that are paying.
- 13:32then I think you get into a big problem where, one side kind of
- 13:35promising all this free stuff, free college, free this, free that.
- 13:40then you just have a whole segment of people who don't really pay into
- 13:43the system but are getting a lot out.
- 13:45And now they're just basically, they're always gonna vote this same way 'cause
- 13:48they're promised a bunch of free stuff.
- 13:50And I think that becomes a pretty big problem too.
- 13:53Jerremy: The two things I love and I think it's a very fun discussion.
- 13:57I think Dave would, it might have been you,
- 13:59Dave: Oh.
- 14:00Jerremy: it was okay, but I'm pretty sure it was you where you're like,
- 14:01Hey, national Holiday, love that take
- 14:04Dave: Yeah.
- 14:05Jerremy: it should be,
- 14:05Dave: Yeah.
- 14:06Yeah.
- 14:06Jerremy: That's really fun.
- 14:07That's a great idea.
- 14:08Seems really easy.
- 14:10Yes.
- 14:10To that one for sure.
- 14:12And I believe.
- 14:14The paying taxes let's dive into that for just a quick hot second.
- 14:18'cause that's fun.
- 14:19What type of taxes, just off the top of your head, would you say could
- 14:25qualify someone for the ability to vote?
- 14:29Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Off the top of my head,
- 14:30any kind of income tax.
- 14:32But I suppose if you're functioning in society, you're already paying sales tax.
- 14:36You're already paying fuel tax, you're already paying a lot of
- 14:39these taxes, so that probably, qualifies like 90% of people.
- 14:42I guess the problem, and I don't know maybe this isn't that big of
- 14:46a problem, but the problem I see right now is you do have maybe
- 14:51not even that large of a segment, but a segment that's just promised
- 14:54you get to go to college for free.
- 14:55You get a cell phone for free, we'll give you free housing, we'll give you
- 14:58free food, don't ever work or anything.
- 15:00And like I've personally known.
- 15:03A couple like single moms who are stuck, but they're trying so hard to fight and
- 15:06work and get their way out of this, and then all of a sudden they learn that if
- 15:11they do take that second job and work a little harder, now they don't get the
- 15:15food benefits and the housing benefits.
- 15:16So they're dis-incentivized to actually work harder to improve their situation,
- 15:21but then they feel like I gotta vote this certain way, or I do lose
- 15:24all these quote unquote free things and I feel like you're just stuck.
- 15:27I wish we had a better system that just rewarded people for working hard.
- 15:32And again I don't, that's probably way too complex for me to figure out
- 15:36here, or any of us to figure out in a 30 minute, segment or whatever.
- 15:40But it just seems to me like a lot of people are stuck in that.
- 15:43Like you almost can't earn above a little level or you lose all that free stuff,
- 15:47but then you have to keep voting that way 'cause you get that free stuff.
- 15:50Yeah.
- 15:50Jerremy: yeah, there.
- 15:51There's something inherently wrong with handouts.
- 15:56One of my mentors always said we should be giving hand ups not handouts.
- 16:00Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: That's
- 16:00Jerremy: to, to your point, like some type of level metric, right?
- 16:03Where it's like, Hey, do this, accomplish this, have this.
- 16:06But yeah, you, when you start making too much money and then you get
- 16:10punched in the face essentially where now it's like a negative, like
- 16:14a net negative to make more, you have everything taken away from you.
- 16:19That's the problem for in the beginning.
- 16:21And so Dave, for us, I think at some point, one thing we haven't really
- 16:25gone down yet is like that Medicare, medicaid, government benefits
- 16:29essentially discussion on the podcast.
- 16:31I think that'd be really fun to just chit chat about that one.
- 16:35Tyler how do you approach gathering information before voting?
- 16:39Because it also does sound like number one, you care.
- 16:42Duh.
- 16:42Awesome.
- 16:43Thanks for being a great American citizen.
- 16:44Number two, my boy over here is paying income tax.
- 16:47You're paying fuels tax sales tax.
- 16:49When you buy groceries, you're paying all kinds of cool taxes.
- 16:51Awesome job.
- 16:53How are you getting your information?
- 16:55Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Man it sucks nowadays, and I think this is
- 16:57Jerremy: Information?
- 16:59Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I,
- 16:59Jerremy: dude says it sucked and it
- 17:01Sucked.
- 17:01Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: crazy though, man.
- 17:02You can watch the news and just so clearly see how much they lie to you.
- 17:07I think anybody watching like Fox News, C-N-N-M-S-N-B-C, like you should just
- 17:12know these are entertainment shows.
- 17:15These are not news shows.
- 17:16They don't just go out, gather information and report it so that
- 17:20you can think what you think.
- 17:21They are owned by a certain segment of people push narratives.
- 17:25They will only report on those narratives.
- 17:28and they'll find the news that they want a really I can give you
- 17:31a thousand examples of this, right?
- 17:33But we probably all see 'em if you're a thinking human being.
- 17:35So that becomes really hard.
- 17:37If I can't get my news from there, and I think it was different back in
- 17:39the day when Walter Cronkite came out, you hear some of these people relive,
- 17:42then he just presented what happened and you got to make your own choice.
- 17:46Of how you saw it.
- 17:47I don't think that's the way the news works anymore.
- 17:50So then you go to social media and you go to some of these other,
- 17:52people, but you have to understand that they have incentives as well.
- 17:56what's the incentive?
- 17:57In today's world, it's clicks, man.
- 18:00I've got a quarter million followers on x, I could have 250 million if
- 18:04I probably just tweeted nonsense.
- 18:06Like some of these other accounts breaking news.
- 18:08And you make things up, and then you'll see a couple hours later a community
- 18:11note, oh, that's actually not true.
- 18:13But by then the guy's gone viral and he's gotten all the money in the
- 18:16clicks and we've incentivized some kind of to be first instead of Right.
- 18:22And we've incentivized for this hyper political of like.
- 18:25All you really have to do to grow on social media now is just attack one side.
- 18:29If I really wanted to grow on social media, I could either say Trump is
- 18:32the greatest thing in the world.
- 18:33Trump is the most evil thing in the world.
- 18:35And just find narratives every day, which you could to just go
- 18:38a hundred miles an hour at that.
- 18:41And that's where we fall.
- 18:42And it's crazy because even if you look at my feed versus my wife's
- 18:46feed, our social media stuff, it's completely different news.
- 18:49A
- 18:49Dave: Yeah.
- 18:50Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: hundred percent completely.
- 18:51They filter news to a female.
- 18:53hundred percent, man.
- 18:54They filter news to a female different than they're gonna filter it to a male.
- 18:59It's a really challenging thing, man.
- 19:01I have a couple people that I probably just trust and think that they
- 19:05really try and do the right thing by putting the right information out.
- 19:08But a lot of this man, it is getting really hard to tell
- 19:12what's real, what's not.
- 19:13I tend to take a few days when any story comes out.
- 19:17isn't really like super news, but did you guys see like the Phillies game where
- 19:20that lady ran over and stole the ball?
- 19:22Jerremy: Yes, and I loved your take on it too.
- 19:24Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: but I didn't comment for three days.
- 19:26'cause I'm like, okay, number one, did this really happen?
- 19:28Is this right now?
- 19:29I always give things a couple days to make sure that it's like real,
- 19:33and I think, man, that's only gonna get worse as AI gets better.
- 19:37Dave: Yeah.
- 19:37Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: That's gonna be tough.
- 19:38So I think you gotta find a couple trusted sources.
- 19:42That are usually on Substack or X or something like
- 19:44that's not traditional media.
- 19:45They're not owned by certain people.
- 19:48Jerremy: Yeah.
- 19:48Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Go on both sides too, because it's,
- 19:50Jerremy: yeah.
- 19:51Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: everything that Trump does is great.
- 19:52I don't trust them.
- 19:54Somebody who says everything, Trump, if you can't name, I, that's my test.
- 19:57I always ask people when
- 19:58Jerremy: Good call.
- 19:58Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: political.
- 19:59I'm like, if they hate Trump, I'm like can you tell me a couple things?
- 20:02He is done well, and if they can't, I'm like I disregard everything you think.
- 20:07Everything.
- 20:08And for the people that are all in Trump, I'm like can you name a couple
- 20:11things that you think he doesn't do well?
- 20:13And if they can't I'm done with them.
- 20:14They're completely like anything they say is gonna be skewed.
- 20:17And so I want people that fall in the middle that are looking for truth,
- 20:21that are just presenting facts.
- 20:22But that's getting harder to find, to be honest.
- 20:25Dave: How.
- 20:26How much does your own moral compass play into this?
- 20:30If things are getting harder to discern?
- 20:32And I totally agree with that, right?
- 20:34The people that I'm starting to listen to more and more are the ones that
- 20:38say, oh, I got this wrong, right?
- 20:40They're willing to be like, uhoh, I got taken, or, this was not the right take.
- 20:45Tell me about your moral compass and how that plays into
- 20:48how you discern information.
- 20:50Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I think that's such a great point
- 20:52and I respect people so much that can admit, when new information comes in,
- 20:55it's okay to say I had this one wrong.
- 20:58Those are the people I think we should all follow.
- 21:00And I think that's a great point for my moral compass.
- 21:03The first thing I'll say is I think that too often.
- 21:06If people are like, oh man, you voted for Trump in 2024, so you agree with,
- 21:11and then they list all the things that I probably don't like that he does,
- 21:14or he said, or he, it's no, like I just picked the lesser of two evils.
- 21:18So it's understanding that for me if someone voted for Kamala, maybe
- 21:22they just thought she was gonna do a better job in a couple areas that
- 21:26they cared about more than I did.
- 21:27I might have voted the other way 'cause I just thought a couple.
- 21:29It doesn't mean you align with everything they've ever done, everything they've ever
- 21:33said and we're, we get in these camps now where it's oh, you have to either be over
- 21:37here or over there when I believe most of us are like in this, 90% in the middle.
- 21:42We're not in these fringe 10 percents.
- 21:44So I
- 21:44Jerremy: Yeah.
- 21:45Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: an understanding of that now if
- 21:47I peel back the moral compass.
- 21:49The thing it's really hard.
- 21:51'cause again, I don't probably feel like.
- 21:54candidates represent me.
- 21:56I'm a Christian Guy.
- 21:57Faith leads my life.
- 21:59wouldn't leave my kids alone with the nine of the last 10 presidents or presidential
- 22:05candidates, if I'm really honest.
- 22:06I don't think I would, and so do morally, I think that, they're
- 22:09gonna align with everything.
- 22:10I think probably not.
- 22:13And I think you just have to have an acknowledgement of that.
- 22:15And again, pick the best of your choice, but.
- 22:18I'll even say this to, to probably get to those levels where you
- 22:21think, imagine how craz this is.
- 22:23I just Jerremy, you're one of the smartest guys I've ever met.
- 22:26I bet you're too smart to say, dude, I have all the answers
- 22:29and I could run the world and I could do a perfect job and I'll
- 22:32Jerremy: I can't say that.
- 22:33Yeah, can't say that.
- 22:34Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: really think about it, that's
- 22:35what the candidates are saying.
- 22:36Nobody's better to run the world.
- 22:39Make these decisions than me.
- 22:40You've gotta have a really crazy ego, even to think that I think you're probably
- 22:45not gonna align with most normal people.
- 22:47'cause if you ask me, do you want this job?
- 22:50I'm like, no, I don't want the stress.
- 22:51No, I don't think I could do it.
- 22:52No.
- 22:53I, like I would just need to pray constantly to try and ask for wisdom and
- 22:57discern I don't think I'd be qualified.
- 22:59And I think 99% of the normal people probably think that.
- 23:03Then when you get a Trump or a Kamala or a Clinton or a Bush or
- 23:06whoever these people are, they're like, yes, I have all the answers.
- 23:08I can do it.
- 23:09Like you probably need to have some acknowledgement that they're not gonna
- 23:12be thinking like most rational, normal people to even get to those levels.
- 23:16And I think you can see that in any industry, not just politics.
- 23:20Jordan, greatest basketball player ever.
- 23:22Sorry, LeBron.
- 23:23But man, that dude, his roommate beat him in checkers in college.
- 23:27He didn't talk to him for two weeks.
- 23:29There's legendary stories, like to be the best, you gotta be a little bit crazy.
- 23:33Steve Jobs look at him.
- 23:35He thought he could beat cancer by mental toughness and eating fruit.
- 23:38He just had.
- 23:39This different kind of mindset and I think to get to the very 1
- 23:440 0 0 1%, you have to have that.
- 23:47So I think we gotta peel that back and acknowledge that just 'cause you
- 23:49vote a certain way doesn't mean you align with everything they think.
- 23:53You just have to have a moral framework and say, what's
- 23:55the best option for me here?
- 23:57Jerremy: Yep.
- 23:59Agreed man.
- 24:00At some point really what you're describing, I would label as
- 24:03the majority of individuals.
- 24:05'Cause you're talking about like that massive center.
- 24:07And it is interesting that we can't truly, or at least we haven't in
- 24:13a very long time, to my current knowledge, had a president, to your
- 24:17point that was like, Hey I'm just trying to figure all this stuff out.
- 24:20Don't really know the answers.
- 24:21Not entirely sure.
- 24:23So I'm just gonna have a really good cabinet.
- 24:26I'm gonna have some great advisors.
- 24:27I'm gonna have some great people on my team.
- 24:29I'm gonna have a lot of individuals help me and just discuss and allow everything
- 24:33to work out for my best benefit.
- 24:36Let's do this together.
- 24:37Let's figure this stuff out together.
- 24:39It seems like we should.
- 24:40Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Bro.
- 24:40How refreshing would that be,
- 24:42Jerremy: Yeah, it'd be nice.
- 24:43Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I'm, I've been waiting for a
- 24:44candidate to literally come up and say exactly what you said.
- 24:47I don't have the like to even ask some crazy question about some.
- 24:51Complex issue and just be like, here's my initial take.
- 24:54But I would really need to study this more and find people that are smarter than me.
- 24:57And, I probably I've changed the way I think about things.
- 25:00All smart people do.
- 25:01So what's crazy to me is like they'll bring something up from 15 years ago
- 25:05and say why did you vote this way?
- 25:06And they entrench.
- 25:08Even though all the data might show that it was wrong and it like the
- 25:11Iraq war, like it's probably okay at this point to say, yeah, I voted
- 25:15for it back then because I believed they had weapons of mass destruction.
- 25:18But now if I could go back with the information I had, I was wrong.
- 25:22Here's what I've learned from this.
- 25:24Here's what
- 25:24Jerremy: Yeah.
- 25:25Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: about it.
- 25:25I would
- 25:26Jerremy: Yeah.
- 25:26Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: person a hundred percent of the time.
- 25:28That's my biggest problem probably with politics today, is that nobody will,
- 25:31I don't see anybody doing that and
- 25:34A pretty frustrating thing.
- 25:35Dave: Yeah, it was Kennedy in this last round and Sanders back in 2016.
- 25:40Those were the only two politicians I have ever heard.
- 25:42Say, oh, I got that wrong and I've changed my mind.
- 25:45That was it.
- 25:46I'm down with what you're saying, which is like humility is a
- 25:49part that is missing for us.
- 25:51Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: You respect that a lot.
- 25:53And I probably don't agree with a lot of the Bernie Sanders policies, but I
- 25:56will say I've heard him in long form on Rogan a couple times and I do agree, I
- 26:00think he's a pretty good human who might actually believe in some of the things
- 26:04he is saying and has admitted he's wrong.
- 26:06And I do respect that a lot, man.
- 26:08I think a guy like that I would be more inclined to vote for than again,
- 26:12just a. Fill in the blank from a lot of the last people we've had who've never
- 26:16made a mistake in their entire life.
- 26:18And if you try and tell them they have, they'll just attack
- 26:20you to full nuclear till no end.
- 26:23Dave: Yeah.
- 26:23Jerremy: Yeah hey man, again, being a dad, a great dad by the way.
- 26:29I'll throw it out there.
- 26:30I,
- 26:30Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: one man.
- 26:30Jerremy: yeah, bro you do extremely well.
- 26:33Great dad, great husband, great mentor to so many other people out there.
- 26:37Picture an ideal voting system for a moment for your kids,
- 26:42grandkids, the whole squad, right?
- 26:45would it look and feel different from today?
- 26:50Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: That's a great question.
- 26:51I've thought about this a little bit, man.
- 26:52So number one, I think we nailed it and they should listen to us and they should
- 26:56change national policy and we should have november 8th should be just a holiday.
- 27:00It's a Tuesday.
- 27:02are open at 6:00 AM They don't close till 8:00 PM and it's a national holiday.
- 27:06There's no school, families have cookouts and picnics, and it's just
- 27:09a, Hey, we're electing leaders today.
- 27:11That's what we do.
- 27:12So I think that's number one.
- 27:13Jerremy: Right on.
- 27:14Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I think every candidate should have a
- 27:16budget and it should be the same budget.
- 27:18So you shouldn't just get to be a billionaire and be able to outspend it.
- 27:21I read in non presidential races.
- 27:25So we're talking about that one.
- 27:26I think you can get away with spending less.
- 27:28'cause you get so much media coverage, especially if you're like a Trump
- 27:31and you can get free media coverage.
- 27:32'cause you're, you just say things, you know how to do that.
- 27:34But in the local races and not the presidential, it's who spends more money
- 27:39wins something like 92% of the time.
- 27:42So you're just looking at it's just money.
- 27:44And so we've gotta even that playing field and just say, you shouldn't just
- 27:47be able to buy a seat in congress.
- 27:50And then go in and you see these people that go in that they're worth $6 million
- 27:54and then they come out of Congress 10 years later, they've made 170,000 a year,
- 27:57but they're somehow worth $237 million.
- 28:01Yeah.
- 28:01Really weird.
- 28:02And so we've
- 28:03Jerremy: They're great at poker.
- 28:04They're very good at poker.
- 28:05Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: maybe they're just great man.
- 28:07I don't know.
- 28:07They never make a bad bet.
- 28:09But I think you gotta get money out.
- 28:10And so I think in today's day and age, this would be such an easy fix to
- 28:14say every candidate gets will cap it.
- 28:17For a Senate race, you get $2 million to spend everyone, for a house.
- 28:22You get 2 million.
- 28:23For local, you get a hundred thousand.
- 28:24What we could do is every candidate then could have their own website and
- 28:29everybody could have access to this, and they could show their voting record.
- 28:33just very clearly lay out what their plans are for the future.
- 28:36They could do some long form podcasts where they get in depth about what they
- 28:39want to do to fix it, and that's it.
- 28:42every citizen can go on and say, okay, here's my choices in this.
- 28:46It's not just whose name I've heard or who's on the most
- 28:49billboards or who, I don't know how people pick, but I go to vote.
- 28:52I didn't even vote for certain people.
- 28:53I've never heard of them.
- 28:55Even when I try and do some research, it's so confusing.
- 28:58But it's I think this could be so well laid out that if you're a candidate,
- 29:01you just have your own website.
- 29:02Maybe they're all on a, on the same government website, so everybody
- 29:05has access to it and everybody has a capped amount you can spend.
- 29:10So you cannot just spend, what did the Kamala Harris campaign spend this year?
- 29:15Wasn't it a billion?
- 29:16Dave: Hundred.
- 29:17Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: It's like the craziest amount, and that's
- 29:18Dave: Yeah.
- 29:19Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Say that Trump probably didn't spend
- 29:20a crazy amount too, but it's like, not fix the infrastructure and the veterans'
- 29:25rights and the homelessness and that?
- 29:26Like why not put some of that money towards actual things
- 29:30that'll help the citizens, healthcare and these things, right?
- 29:33Mental health instead of.
- 29:35We're spending billions of dollars every year for people campaigning.
- 29:39That just seems ludicrous to me in today's day and age where we, 99% of
- 29:44us have access to the internet and they could just show, here's how I voted.
- 29:47Here's what I plan to do.
- 29:49Here's my marketing pitch to you.
- 29:50Here's the other candidate you decide.
- 29:53It seems like it could be that easy.
- 29:55Jerremy: That's, yeah, makes sense.
- 29:58You said really, you said let's get money out of the system.
- 30:02That's what I heard you say in the sense of we've gotta do a better job of that.
- 30:05The challenge is that people that are currently in the system and entrenched
- 30:09aren't, that's how they're making all their money from insider trading.
- 30:13And so they really don't want that to happen.
- 30:16Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah, you're gonna have a hard
- 30:16time convincing them that's not a
- 30:18It's, if you really go back again it's that law that got passed, citizens
- 30:22United, where it said any corporation can act as an individual and donate
- 30:26unlimited amounts to politicians.
- 30:28This is where everything changed.
- 30:29Jerremy: Yeah.
- 30:30Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: if I'm just the CEO of the
- 30:32largest bank in the US right?
- 30:35I say to a politician, man, I'll get you elected.
- 30:39So here's $50 million.
- 30:40But when you get in, you have to vote this certain way in my interest.
- 30:45And by the way, we'll give your son a board seat at my bank and
- 30:48he'll make $6 million a year to show up to four meetings.
- 30:50And by the way, when you retire from this spot, we got a board seat for you.
- 30:54And by the way, we'll let you know when our stock's gonna, when
- 30:56we're gonna do a stock split.
- 30:57So you can, and then most of these people that might even go in with
- 31:00good intentions wanting to help.
- 31:01Now all of a sudden, man, maybe it's a very immoral thing they need to vote
- 31:05for, that's really gonna oppress people.
- 31:07Dude, it's $50 million in board seats and all, like most of those
- 31:11people just make that choice.
- 31:12And if you don't get that out, I think you're just gonna see this
- 31:15cycle of maybe people go in with good intentions, maybe people do.
- 31:19But man, when you're presented with that kind of stuff, the average
- 31:23person is just gonna take the money and justify it in their head.
- 31:27Jerremy: Yeah, so here's a good one, man.
- 31:30Drawing from your coaching on mindset shifts, 'cause you would classify
- 31:37yourself definitely as a mindset coach.
- 31:39What are.
- 31:41Habit changes that could help everyday people engage
- 31:45more effectively with voting.
- 31:47Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: The biggest one I that I haven't brought
- 31:49up yet, and this is how I think you just stay sane in our world today,
- 31:52is I did it right before I hopped on.
- 31:55I take three or four minutes every morning and I journal out
- 31:57a few things I'm grateful for.
- 31:59And look, we've talked about some negative stuff.
- 32:01There's too much money in politics.
- 32:03Some taxes are high, some of these things.
- 32:04But if we're really honest and we peel it back, we live in an
- 32:08amazing country, in an amazing time.
- 32:10The average US citizen, even who lives at the mean lives better than
- 32:14kings and queens did, for all of human history, basically, like we're so
- 32:19fricking blessed to live where we are.
- 32:21Can it be better and should we strive for better?
- 32:23Of course.
- 32:24But man, if all of us listening here, just take a couple minutes today and think.
- 32:28How blessed am I?
- 32:29Dude, I can go in a shower and I, it's climate controlled
- 32:32and I just have ample food.
- 32:33I don't have warring tribes that are coming to invade my home generally,
- 32:37and it hasn't been as easy as it's been throughout all of human history
- 32:41up until, the end of World War ii.
- 32:43We've lived in relative peace if you're in America.
- 32:46And so we've had a couple generations of just prosperity in good times
- 32:49and that if you look back at human history, that's not the case usually.
- 32:52So I think coming at it with a frame of gratitude.
- 32:56say gratitude.
- 32:57You cannot be grumpy and grateful at the same time, and
- 33:01so it's easy to be grumpy, man.
- 33:02If I spend 30 minutes reading about political scandals and corruption
- 33:06and all that, I can be pretty grumpy.
- 33:07My tax dollars are going for this, right?
- 33:09I can get in that mindset.
- 33:11And I think the antidote to that is just by practicing gratitude every day.
- 33:15do this with, by myself.
- 33:16I do this with my kids.
- 33:17What are we grateful for today?
- 33:19School sucked, dad.
- 33:20Okay.
- 33:21Tell me the best thing about it, right?
- 33:22Let's shift that mind from what we might lack to what we're blessed by.
- 33:26And so I think that's probably the ultimate hack I have.
- 33:29I think today is like 2,358 day in a row or something like this,
- 33:33that I've practiced gratitude every morning without fail.
- 33:37writing a few things down I'm grateful for, and praying over and thinking about
- 33:40those things just sets my mind on that.
- 33:44So that, man, I'm not just stuck in traffic.
- 33:46And this sucks.
- 33:47I'm blessed, I have a car I can turn on a cool podcast and listen to you
- 33:50guys, and like there's always blessings and always good things you can find.
- 33:54So I think coming at it from that frame is very important.
- 33:57Jerremy: Yeah, man, because that's a mindset shift for the listeners,
- 34:02my knowledge, to my experience, or to my recollection, you have.
- 34:06Something that you focus on and what you focus on is what's gonna bring
- 34:10the most energy towards your life.
- 34:12Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yes.
- 34:12Jerremy: So if you do focus more of your energy and bandwidth
- 34:16on negative things, negative feelings, outcomes, I'm in traffic.
- 34:22Traffic sucks.
- 34:23I hate traffic, I hate this.
- 34:24This is awful.
- 34:25You're going to have more negativity in your life 'cause
- 34:27you're focusing on negativity more.
- 34:29Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: That's right.
- 34:30Jerremy: And those negative aspects can be anything.
- 34:33It can be bank accounts, it can be.
- 34:35Sicknesses.
- 34:36It can be family disturbances, it can be there.
- 34:38There's, it can trickle down into a wild amount daily meteorites mentally
- 34:49that continue to pummel you because you're always focusing on negative.
- 34:53But to your point, you start switching over to gratitude.
- 34:56I can hear you say this, even if you voted for someone and they did not win.
- 35:02You would be very in that camp of, Hey, I, I still have a great house.
- 35:07Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: yeah.
- 35:07Jerremy: a great family.
- 35:08I have a great body.
- 35:10I love that person.
- 35:11Even though I might not agree with all their beliefs, you could still
- 35:15have gratitude towards a president
- 35:18Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Absolutely
- 35:18Jerremy: entirely different camp than you as well.
- 35:21Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: hundred percent.
- 35:22Man, this is such a great point.
- 35:23I'm glad you bring it up.
- 35:24My daughter is in fifth grade this year, but when the election was going
- 35:28on, they were doing mock elections, I think, to teach the kids, how
- 35:31the voting system works and all.
- 35:33And so my daughter came to me and said dad what's gonna happen if Trump wins
- 35:36or what's gonna happen if Kamala wins?
- 35:38I don't think she expected the answer.
- 35:40My answer was, we're still gonna go to church every week.
- 35:42We're still going to eat healthy and be healthy.
- 35:45We're still gonna make money and be wealthy and prosperous.
- 35:47We're still gonna have a loving home.
- 35:49Your mom and I are gonna be madly in love.
- 35:51We're gonna love you guys.
- 35:52Like absolutely nothing is gonna change in your life.
- 35:55You need to understand that, and I always say this, and I think you make the,
- 35:58probably the best point of this whole podcast so far is that the president is
- 36:02maybe gonna change your life a percentage or two if you're in the high end.
- 36:07Who's the president for the average person.
- 36:09Now, I'm not saying if maybe you're a fringe person out here and they made
- 36:12a law that shuts down your business.
- 36:14I'm not saying that never happens, right?
- 36:16For 98% of us that are in the United States, of the 360 million people, your
- 36:22daily actions and habits and your mindset and what you do every day is gonna affect
- 36:27your life more than whoever sits in the Oval Office, whoever represents you,
- 36:32Jerremy: Come on.
- 36:33Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah, man if Kamala Harris is president right
- 36:35now, you know what I'd be doing right now?
- 36:38Jerremy: Thing you're doing.
- 36:38Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: the same thing with Brandon.
- 36:39It, it really is man.
- 36:40And maybe certain policies might shift this way.
- 36:42Might be paying a little more taxes over here, or maybe I'd be
- 36:45doing a little better over here.
- 36:46I don't know.
- 36:47Who knows the domino effect of all this stuff.
- 36:49But I think it's important to say and to tell my daughter
- 36:53and to even tell yourself.
- 36:55It doesn't matter.
- 36:56At the end of the day, you should go vote because you have that, right.
- 36:59People have fought in blood for that, but at the end of the day, also
- 37:02you should root for whoever wins.
- 37:05I think this is like a sickness and a really weird thing, man.
- 37:08And it happens on both sides.
- 37:09Like I, I don't wanna, we don't need to get in the weeds, but I think everybody
- 37:13saw Joe Biden wasn't really with it towards the end, and man, I mean there
- 37:17was people just saying hope the guy dies.
- 37:19I hope his son dies.
- 37:21I hope, and then you see with Trump, like he almost gets shot in the face and people
- 37:25are like, oh, I wish he just didn't miss.
- 37:26And it's man, I feel like if you're coming from that spot in your heart,
- 37:31where you're gonna operate from every day, I don't care who the president
- 37:33is, you're not gonna be successful.
- 37:35You're gonna, you're poisoned.
- 37:37if you let politics capture you in that way where you're like wishing
- 37:40harm to other human beings and you hate 'em so much that you'll again.
- 37:45That's my test.
- 37:46If you're smart, if you hate Trump, but you can't admit he did a couple
- 37:49things Well, or you hate Biden, but you can't admit he did a couple things.
- 37:52You're just not that smart.
- 37:53And if he's driving the ship, I'm not rooting for the ship to sink
- 37:57'cause we're all on the ship,
- 37:58Jerremy: we're all on the ship.
- 38:00Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: But it seems like we have a, at least
- 38:02a quarter, a third of the population.
- 38:04It's like that now.
- 38:05And I think if you're in that camp and you're listening to that, I would just
- 38:08challenge you to peel that back and say maybe you don't like Trump as a person,
- 38:12maybe I don't certainly agree with a lot of the things he says or does.
- 38:15It's like he'll attack Rosie O'Donnell at 3:00 AM on Twitter.
- 38:18I just, I don't know why, like you're the most powerful guy in the world.
- 38:21Like I probably wouldn't choose to do that or some of the policies or things he says.
- 38:25But at the same time, man, how does that really affect my life today?
- 38:28I can still go to the gym, I can still work hard.
- 38:31I can still love my kids.
- 38:32I can still do all those things.
- 38:34You have to acknowledge that your life is a sum of your decisions.
- 38:39That's the number one thing.
- 38:40Whoever's in office, they're gonna do what they're gonna do.
- 38:43And I'm not saying to just completely ignore it, but I am saying to your
- 38:46point too, Jerremy, if you just sit there and focus on everything Trump
- 38:49does and how much you hate it, dude, you're not gonna live a good life.
- 38:53to be honest, we've never had a time where 2025, almost 2026 now, where
- 38:57there's endless resources to learn.
- 38:59Gain knowledge and gain money and gain, like it's, if you would've told somebody
- 39:03a couple hundred years ago, you could just have access to the smartest people in the
- 39:06world for free, and you can learn from it.
- 39:10But yet many people will spend a few hours a day complaining about politics
- 39:13or whining about this or that when they could just a hundred x of their life by
- 39:18just learning new skill sets and going and implementing those from smart people
- 39:22and their health and fixing some of their relationships and things like that.
- 39:26And so that's a harder thing to do.
- 39:28It's much easier to just whine about if only this person was
- 39:31president, my life would be better.
- 39:34But where does that get you?
- 39:35And I
- 39:35Jerremy: Right.
- 39:36Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: comes back to that personal
- 39:37responsibility and ownership of your life.
- 39:39It doesn't matter who the president is for me, my family's gonna be successful.
- 39:43I would guarantee both of you men are in the same boat.
- 39:45Doesn't really matter, man, whoever gets, if it's JD Vance,
- 39:48Gavin Newsom, name, a name.
- 39:51We will all find a way to be healthy, wealthy, thriving, doing well, because
- 39:56that's who we're, that's what, that's the decisions we're gonna make, right?
- 39:58And I think if more people approach life like that would
- 40:01actually be the best thing ever.
- 40:02For families, for economies, for, like, how can I be the
- 40:05best husband, the best dad?
- 40:07How can I make more money?
- 40:08How can I be healthier?
- 40:09How can I impact my community?
- 40:11How can I do these if I put a lot of, that's why I put 99%
- 40:15of my energy into those things.
- 40:17Then sure, I'll put a percent or two into who I'm gonna vote for with the
- 40:20acknowledgement that it's probably not gonna change my life that much.
- 40:23Dave: So given your large community, hundreds of thousands of people
- 40:28have sought you out and have changed their lives, and they're
- 40:34affecting millions of people.
- 40:37How do we help people that are in those dark places of rooting for
- 40:43somebody else to fail of rooting for the death of other people?
- 40:47That's a really dark place.
- 40:48How do we help them?
- 40:51Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: that's a great question.
- 40:51I hate to say it, but some people I'm not sure you can.
- 40:55I think you can ask questions and you can be kind you can be loving.
- 41:00I'm a real big, like personal choice and personal ownership and.
- 41:04person's gonna make their decisions.
- 41:05I even tell my kids this, man I want my kids to be so successful
- 41:09more than anything in the world.
- 41:10I would root for my kids, but I tell 'em all the time, it's gonna be your choices.
- 41:14Dad can't be there every minute of the day to make sure you're getting
- 41:19up and thinking the right thing, putting the right things in your
- 41:20mind and doing these things right?
- 41:22And yeah, we can show a better way.
- 41:25And it's like that old saying, you can lead a horse to water.
- 41:27You can't make 'em drink.
- 41:29had people who have literally come on my Twitter page and trolled me
- 41:33for three or four years straight, literally you're an idiot.
- 41:37You're a this or that.
- 41:38And then after something clicked in 'em four years later where they're
- 41:41like, man, I just wanted to say sorry.
- 41:43And thanks.
- 41:44I'm really starting to do this gratitude stuff and I see it
- 41:46makes a, or this or that, right?
- 41:48And so I go back to the guy that I follow, man who was killed
- 41:52a couple thousand years ago.
- 41:53Jesus.
- 41:54one of my favorite stories of him is he finds this rich, young ruler and the guy
- 41:59says to him, how do I have eternal life?
- 42:01And Jesus says, it's real easy, man.
- 42:02You're doing all the right things.
- 42:03Just go sell your stuff and come follow me.
- 42:06And it says, the guy was really sad because he had a lot of stuff, he
- 42:09didn't wanna sell it, what I see from that is Jesus said, okay, he went
- 42:13on his way, he went on his mission.
- 42:14It was like the next one.
- 42:15He was gonna preach the gospel to the next.
- 42:17What he didn't do is tell the guy all the reasons he was wrong.
- 42:20Follow him for months and yell at him and tell him he was
- 42:22stupid and try and convince him.
- 42:25He just presented, he showed a better way and he kept on his mission.
- 42:29And what I look at when I, see even knowing a guy like Jerremy.
- 42:32Your mission is so evident, man.
- 42:35You impact so many people, you make their lives better.
- 42:39man there's gonna be people that see you and probably, oh, that guy's a scammer.
- 42:43That guy's a, I'm sure you get it.
- 42:45I get it.
- 42:45I got called a grifter 'cause I tried to get people to walk.
- 42:48I'm like, how am I making money off telling you to hit a certain
- 42:50amount of steps every day?
- 42:51But there's some people that are just stuck in this mindset.
- 42:55And I think, again, you lend a hand.
- 42:57You offer to show them a better way.
- 42:59You relentlessly be kind and positive, but it's an acknowledgement that
- 43:03every single person has to take agency and ownership of their life until
- 43:07some people are ready to do that.
- 43:09I hate to say it, but you cannot help them.
- 43:11Jerremy: And what's interesting, man, is I think, again, my ultimate belief,
- 43:15one of my ultimate perspectives.
- 43:17This message, the one that you are sharing, you just shared,
- 43:21we are kinda sharing today.
- 43:23is the one that we need from the top down.
- 43:26That's the message that we need to hear in the media Often and as much
- 43:31as Tony Robbins has tried and Marm Williamson has tried, and Alan Watts
- 43:36and Earl Nightingale, Les Brown, Rene Brown, Leslie Nichols, as much of these
- 43:43individuals have tried, we haven't had anyone in that very prominent seat
- 43:48and the prominent power in government.
- 43:51To really say those words, and that's probably one of my biggest dreams
- 43:56Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Man
- 43:57Jerremy: to be that mouthpiece or to be in a position where we can get
- 44:01individuals together and we can just pour light into them and pour awareness
- 44:05and these tiny little mental shifts where we can collaborate together and
- 44:13simply say, this is where we're going.
- 44:15This seems like the best idea overall.
- 44:18We did go to the moon in the late sixties 'cause Kennedy was like, Hey, guess what
- 44:22we're doing guys, the whole country?
- 44:25Guess what we're doing?
- 44:26Stop playing baseball.
- 44:28what we're doing.
- 44:29Almost right.
- 44:30Just really a massive singular focus if we got this country singularly focused from
- 44:35the top down on health, on vitality, on positive mindset, on an abundance mindset,
- 44:43on a helping and collaboration mindset.
- 44:47We would not only change the entire legacy of the country, but we would
- 44:51start shifting the entire approach of the world because obviously I think
- 44:55America is that beacon for so many other individuals, other countries, other
- 44:58places, that's how we can create an absolute spark of hope and joy and peace.
- 45:06Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Man that, that fires me up even thinking
- 45:08about it, like how refreshing would that be if you just had leaders like
- 45:11instead of tweeting every day, like Gavin Newsom's Scum, and then Gavin
- 45:15Newsom tweeting, Trump is an idiot.
- 45:17How great would it be if like our leaders were just like uplifting people?
- 45:22Jerremy: Yep.
- 45:22Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Oh and just like promoting
- 45:24that kind of positivity.
- 45:25You mentioned JFK Man, and I recently read a pretty good book called
- 45:28Profiles Encouraged by JFK and yeah, man he's the last one I looked to.
- 45:31He admitted he was wrong with Bay of Pigs.
- 45:35And he was in my mind, and maybe I'm wrong here, but one of the last leaders
- 45:39to do a lot of those things you were saying, and, see what happened to him.
- 45:43Some people
- 45:45Jerremy: Yeah.
- 45:45Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: that and where
- 45:46Jerremy: Yep.
- 45:47Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: that was going.
- 45:47And pretty dark if you think of it from that lens.
- 45:51I thought the other day like.
- 45:53If a politician was to come and preach on personal responsibility
- 45:56now, they'd just be laughed out.
- 45:58Laughed.
- 45:59Like JFK was like, it's not what your country can do for you, it's what you can
- 46:02do for your, like that kind of message.
- 46:03And he was a Democrat.
- 46:05Imagine if a guy from the left came in saying that right now.
- 46:08What can you do for your country?
- 46:09Let's pick yourself up and let's work hard and let's, dude
- 46:12they wouldn't even get to the,
- 46:13Jerremy: Yep.
- 46:13Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: way they'd even be considered.
- 46:16but it's yeah, I feel like we do need a shift in that kind of energy.
- 46:19Jerremy: We do, man.
- 46:20We definitely do.
- 46:22All right how about this?
- 46:23Let's just lightning round potentially.
- 46:27What's one rule the American government currently that just baffles you?
- 46:35Like how is this even.
- 46:37Old Eagle.
- 46:39Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: I mean that we don't investigate,
- 46:42representatives for coming into office 2.1 million and exiting
- 46:49worth 440,000,014 years later.
- 46:52And where does the money come from?
- 46:54You shouldn't be able to inside or trade and do it.
- 46:56I get arrested Jerremy if me and the CEO of a company and he tips
- 47:00us off that they're gonna go public in this certain time, or there's
- 47:02gonna be a stock splitter and we buy the stock and we make $10 million.
- 47:06We are gonna go to prison
- 47:08Jerremy: Yeah.
- 47:08Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Martha Stewart Prison where you
- 47:09just play yoga, you're gonna go to prison and guys like us probably
- 47:12wouldn't farewell there, and
- 47:14Jerremy: Yep.
- 47:14Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: there's a massive incentive for us.
- 47:17To not steal and cheat and insider trade and do those things.
- 47:20There's no incentive for these people to not do this.
- 47:22There's none.
- 47:23The one that baffled my mind that got passed a few years ago was they added
- 47:27a bunch of IRS agents and then Congress made it exempt for them to be audited.
- 47:33So they added like 70,000 IRS agents.
- 47:36And you can check this, but this was like, think four or five years
- 47:38ago, and then they made it exempt.
- 47:40So you could, they cannot be audited.
- 47:43House of Representatives are congressmen, and I'm like, you're basically just
- 47:47telling everybody we're super corrupt, we're stealing, we insider trade, we
- 47:50steep, we cheat, we steal, but also you can't look at us that just blows my mind.
- 47:55That's like a thing.
- 47:55And that we, the people are just like cool with it.
- 47:57I guess that's fine.
- 47:58Like that's pretty, that blows my mind, man.
- 48:01Jerremy: Yeah, that one's a big one.
- 48:03That one's a big one.
- 48:04That would be, it doesn't, it's not voting specifically related, but if I had a
- 48:08magic wand, that's certainly one aspect of senators, representatives, congresspeople.
- 48:14Like you can't buy individual stocks.
- 48:16That's obviously the most illegal thing.
- 48:18You are working directly with not only the laws that create more wealth or less
- 48:23wealth for individual companies, but you're talking to the CEOs and making
- 48:28what's either gonna make that company more viable or less viable, and they are
- 48:31getting shares and opportunities, right?
- 48:34Nancy's it's not me.
- 48:35I'm not making the trades.
- 48:36My husband is doing it.
- 48:39Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah
- 48:40Jerremy: so n now that I'm not saying they can't invest, right?
- 48:43Absolutely.
- 48:43Investments a broader market.
- 48:44ETFs, you can do that all day, but your mind to the Fs and P
- 48:47500, we don't want anyone to go broke, but into individual names.
- 48:52Yeah, that one is just almost a, it's not almost, it's a head scratcher.
- 48:57Huge head scratcher.
- 48:58Dave: Or three words, conflict of inter.
- 49:01Do all of your shenanigans.
- 49:03Like fine.
- 49:03There's gonna be that, but you can't vote on it.
- 49:05You can't accept money on it.
- 49:07If you accept money from somebody, then you don't get to vote on those things.
- 49:10That seems really basic.
- 49:12When it gets down to it, it doesn't feel fair.
- 49:16And like you guys have kids, and I'm sure you've heard it, for years and years.
- 49:20That's not fair.
- 49:22But there is a basic fairness in the American spirit.
- 49:27That is if it doesn't matter for you, but it matters for me, then that's just wrong.
- 49:33Like you don't get to have your own special courts or your own special rules.
- 49:39It's the Epstein stuff, like you might get wrapped around the axle about it
- 49:43specifically, but that's not the point.
- 49:45The point is it feels like that there's this whole group of people where the
- 49:49rules don't matter, the laws don't matter, and it's if you're leading,
- 49:54we want you to be super citizens.
- 49:56Like you should have extra laws, not fewer laws.
- 50:00Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Yeah.
- 50:01When it's rules for the, not rules for me, the not for me.
- 50:04Yeah.
- 50:04I think that's a big problem.
- 50:05And I think that was really highlighted during COVID too, right?
- 50:07Where you would see these people flying in their private jets to
- 50:12have parties with their elite people while telling you're a grandma
- 50:16killer and you can't see your family.
- 50:17And like that was just crazy.
- 50:19I do think that, the more they squeeze and the more people see that.
- 50:23Which we are, the more pushback there is.
- 50:25And I just wonder when that point will happen, when people
- 50:27are like, enough's enough.
- 50:29Like enough is enough.
- 50:30Like we've got to do something about this.
- 50:31'cause it is really wild, man, that when you see the money that some, and it's
- 50:35on both sides, like Nancy Pelosi's kind of poster child for it, but man, you
- 50:39can look at both sides of Republican Democrat and that's why I think one
- 50:42and the same almost in a lot of ways.
- 50:45us fighting over these social issues all the time, while all of
- 50:47them just continue to make tens of hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 50:52as long as we're all down here fighting over these social issues,
- 50:54they just get to keep doing it.
- 50:56And to me, that might be the point,
- 50:58Jerremy: yeah.
- 50:58Keep what?
- 50:59What's the the emperor circus?
- 51:00Just keep everyone looking away.
- 51:03Keep 'em distracted.
- 51:04Keep 'em uninformed.
- 51:06Unaware.
- 51:07Tyler, this has been so refreshing, man.
- 51:09Energetic, exciting, useful For our listeners, I just wanna say thanks,
- 51:14man, for waking up at 5:00 AM West Coast time getting prepped for this.
- 51:18Dave, thanks for spending.
- 51:2017 hours a day outta your 24 hours a day to make sure that
- 51:23this show runs super smoothly.
- 51:25Man, it's been an honor.
- 51:26I am 100% confident.
- 51:28Many of your listeners, your followers will have gained only some knowledge,
- 51:31but some insight on not only how you think, but how we can just tweak, how
- 51:36we can adjust, how we can think more clearly, how we can pray and ponder.
- 51:41How we can make better decisions, how we can decide.
- 51:44You said gain wisdom.
- 51:46Wisdom generally is gained from asking and from opening up and from receiving
- 51:50and from knowing that we don't have all the answers and that someone can give
- 51:53us enlightenment, someone can give us help, someone can give us assistance.
- 51:56It doesn't always have to be us.
- 51:57So thank you, Matt, for being here and for doing that for so many.
- 51:59Tylertyler-todt_1_09-08-2025_060242: Man.
- 52:00Thank you.
- 52:00It's an honor.
- 52:01You guys are awesome, man.
- 52:02It's really cool to come on here and listen to you guys already.
- 52:04And I can't wait to share this one.
- 52:06And what you said too, man, is like the last point I'd make is that.
- 52:09If you don't agree with me on something or I don't agree with you,
- 52:12that doesn't make us enemies, right?
- 52:13Maybe we voted a different way, but maybe I've learned some things since then.
- 52:17Maybe you have, maybe we can discuss those ideas respectfully and kindly,
- 52:20and that's how we all grow and learn.
- 52:22We're in a hyper political climate now where I think some people might
- 52:25listen and just, oh, he thinks this.
- 52:27I hate him.
- 52:28He's my enemy.
- 52:29I'm not your enemy.
- 52:30I'm nobody's enemy in this stuff.
- 52:32We shouldn't be thinking like that.
- 52:34And so I love that you guys can bring ideas together where we can just
- 52:37talk about things in a respectful environment and share ideas and.
- 52:41Maybe if we did this again in five years, I'd have a completely different
- 52:43take on something I would've learned something that would've changed.
- 52:45But I think that's the point of life is we have
- 52:47Just try and learn and grow.
- 52:48So I appreciate you guys providing a space for that.
- 52:50It's awesome.
- 52:52Jerremy: got it my man.
- 52:52Thank you Tyler for being here.
- 52:53Appreciate you, bro.
- 52:55Doing content with Dave Conley.
- 52:58Top five favorite things of my life.
- 53:01what'd you learn in that episode with Tyler?
- 53:03Dave: I'm gonna tell you what I didn't learn first,
- 53:05Jerremy: Didn't learn.
- 53:06shoot.
- 53:07Okay.
- 53:08Flipping it.
- 53:09Dave: didn't learn anything new about the problem.
- 53:12Didn't learn anything new about the solutions.
- 53:14What I love about that is that what stood out for me, what I did learn, what
- 53:19really changed my day to day, because it's still early in the morning, is that.
- 53:26Unrelenting positivity is how we're going to change the most, and we
- 53:31see none of that in our leaders.
- 53:34We see none of it in our politicians.
- 53:38There is nobody out there that is just incredibly positive about stuff.
- 53:45there's actually one politician that I listen to that I get.
- 53:49Which is Massey on the Republican side.
- 53:52The congressman from, I think Kentucky.
- 53:55He's pretty positive dude, when I hear him and it's such a refreshing thing yeah,
- 54:00you might not be able to help everybody.
- 54:02In fact, that's probably not what people want to hear of.
- 54:06I'm from the government and I'm here to help you.
- 54:07be the example, be the person that's yeah, I want to make changes, and these
- 54:11are all the exciting things about it.
- 54:13it is positivity into what seems like darkness right now.
- 54:17How about you?
- 54:18Jerremy: I learned that people care.
- 54:19That's the thing, man.
- 54:20We keep getting people on the podcast and having discussions about the
- 54:24democratic process and dialing in and tuning in and caring and people do care.
- 54:29Dave: Yeah.
- 54:30Jerremy: We are making changes and we are making shifts and I
- 54:32love seeing, someone like Tyler who is what I would say is just.
- 54:39work and time energy in the betterment of or mankind or his community and the
- 54:43ways that he feels is best appropriate.
