Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This immediate podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only
- 0:12Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer
- 0:15Speaker 1: new Art, and today we're joined by a bunch of
- 0:18Speaker 1: special guests. Please go around the room and introduce yourselves. Um, Brian,
- 0:23Speaker 1: I am Trend's boyfriend from Buffalo, New York, and go Bills.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'm Katie Finch. I'm not Katie Ronella. Um, much to
- 0:34Speaker 1: my husband's chagrin, this is Jennifer Jones. I am Janie
- 0:40Speaker 1: Potellis's wife and uh yeah, glad to be here. I'm
- 0:44Speaker 1: Adrian Taylor. I am Phil's wife. Kelsey Morris currently widowed
- 0:50Speaker 1: by Steph Morris on a hunting trup. I'm Carrie Henderson.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I'm Brody Henderson's wife and glad to be here. So
- 0:58Speaker 1: does that mean immediately we're all scared that you're going
- 1:01Speaker 1: to kick our asks. I married him because he retains
- 1:05Speaker 1: the facts. I just had the fun and I'm Shelby Humor,
- 1:10Speaker 1: Spencer's wife, and I also just make Spencer google everything
- 1:14Speaker 1: for me, So that's right. This is a very special
- 1:18Speaker 1: episode of Meatia to Trivia that will be played with
- 1:21Speaker 1: the significant others of the Meadia to crew. Now, for
- 1:24Speaker 1: almost all of you here, this will be your first
- 1:26Speaker 1: time playing Meatia to trivia. So how do you guys
- 1:28Speaker 1: feel about your odds of winning? How do you think
- 1:30Speaker 1: you're going to perform? Terribly? Such confident? I know nothing.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I lost. I was on this once and I lost
- 1:39Speaker 1: last time. So I'm here for some redemption. Based on
- 1:42Speaker 1: the fact that I was googling basic US geography before
- 1:47Speaker 1: I walked into this room. I'm not feeling super confident. Yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I was hunting yesterday, so I did not prepare at all.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I mean that could be preparation and itself that sounds
- 1:58Speaker 1: not too bad. It was prepared and then Corinn rolled
- 2:01Speaker 1: the ankle, so then I had to kind of baby
- 2:03Speaker 1: that the rest of the day. Now, if you're not familiar,
- 2:06Speaker 1: this is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 2:08Speaker 1: meat eaters for verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking.
- 2:12Speaker 1: There is a prize. Meteor will donate five hundred dollars
- 2:15Speaker 1: to the conservation organization of the winners choosing. Now. The
- 2:19Speaker 1: last time we heard from most of you as an
- 2:21Speaker 1: episode three sixty seven of the Meat Eater podcast, where
- 2:24Speaker 1: we talked about how to be a good spouse during
- 2:26Speaker 1: hunting season, so I want to know if anything has
- 2:29Speaker 1: changed it. Can we get an update from everyone, like Katie?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Has Steve extended his chill period when he gets home?
- 2:34Speaker 1: Jennifer did, did he honest freeze some meals for you
- 2:38Speaker 1: and the girls before we left from Latvia? Carry? Has
- 2:40Speaker 1: Brody better managed his gear explosion in the house? Has
- 2:43Speaker 1: anything changed? Nothing? I actually have. I would like a
- 2:49Speaker 1: redo of the spouses episode because I feel like I
- 2:52Speaker 1: might have been a little too generous. We talked about
- 2:56Speaker 1: Steve talked about the pissing on the post thing in
- 2:59Speaker 1: seth of media at lea proceeded to come home and
- 3:01Speaker 1: do that like aggressively. So what's an example? Oh, just
- 3:05Speaker 1: here's my thing when we had to talk about this.
- 3:08Speaker 1: The new role is that I need twenty four hours
- 3:11Speaker 1: before any critiques are offered of the house, me anything
- 3:17Speaker 1: that was done while he was gone, because it's like,
- 3:20Speaker 1: you know, I prepare for him to come back, clean
- 3:23Speaker 1: the house, make a nice meal, and anything that is
- 3:25Speaker 1: off is immediately noticed. So that's my new role. No
- 3:28Speaker 1: piston on the post, give me twenty four hours before
- 3:33Speaker 1: is way fair. But after that, if he does that,
- 3:36Speaker 1: you're gonna be so annoyed after twenty four hours, right,
- 3:40Speaker 1: how about just like shut up always definitely keep it
- 3:45Speaker 1: to yourself period still one hour from It's like it's
- 3:51Speaker 1: usually you know, he usually gets home at night. I
- 3:53Speaker 1: said this on the podcast, and then he will start
- 3:56Speaker 1: sort of like sniffing around the next morning, like it's
- 3:59Speaker 1: not you know, what's off? He hasn't in fairness, he's
- 4:04Speaker 1: coming home today, so we'll see. I would I'll time it.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'll start like an hour time or we can compare exactly.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And Jennifer, did you honest prepared any meals for you
- 4:14Speaker 1: and the girls before we left for Latvia? You know,
- 4:17Speaker 1: he did braise some turkey, but you know that's kind
- 4:22Speaker 1: of a common thing for him. He has been calling
- 4:26Speaker 1: a lot this trip, and I think, you know, maybe
- 4:30Speaker 1: we made it sound like we were just kind of like, yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you know, we'll see you in in a couple of weeks,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and we usually do that. He is in Labba Um.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He's pretty excited about being Lavia. So he's been calling
- 4:39Speaker 1: to talk to the girls quite a bit, which has
- 4:41Speaker 1: been fun. And do you think that will happen on
- 4:43Speaker 1: the next trip as well? This I don't know now
- 4:46Speaker 1: that you said you don't care if he calls. Maybe
- 4:49Speaker 1: that's the thing to get him some reverse psychology. So
- 4:53Speaker 1: I need to flip that because you know he called it,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you know, right when we got up in the morning
- 4:57Speaker 1: this morning. I'm like, yeah, so we're trying to get
- 4:59Speaker 1: off to school. I love you now, Brian. Adrian, we
- 5:03Speaker 1: didn't get a chance to hear from you on that episode,
- 5:05Speaker 1: So here's your chance to let your partner know how
- 5:08Speaker 1: they can improve. Adrian, Is there anything Phil could do
- 5:10Speaker 1: better when he's spending all this time performing the sound
- 5:13Speaker 1: of music and a Christmas Carol? Are you doing a
- 5:16Speaker 1: Christmas Carol? We never Yeah, I mean I know I
- 5:26Speaker 1: should roast him right now, but I wasn't prepared. Nothing's
- 5:30Speaker 1: coming to mind. Maybe maybe Phil could do a better
- 5:34Speaker 1: job of letting you know when he's going to be
- 5:35Speaker 1: in the Christmas car I mean, yeah, just your schedule
- 5:38Speaker 1: in general would be great to know. But and Brian,
- 5:44Speaker 1: is there, like siwhere Karen could improve when she's gallivanting
- 5:47Speaker 1: around the country recording episodes of the Meat Eater podcast.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You know, it's kind of a little too early to tell, okay, um,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but she hunts with me, so that's good. I have
- 5:56Speaker 1: a little hunting partner now and it's perfect. So we
- 5:58Speaker 1: had a good time yesterday and UH had to kind
- 6:01Speaker 1: of bring the truck around for a little bit. She
- 6:02Speaker 1: might get mad that I'm saying this. It was hot,
- 6:05Speaker 1: we were all we were both dehydrated, so I said,
- 6:08Speaker 1: just hang out here. Her ankle was rolled. I got
- 6:10Speaker 1: the truck. That's good, very good. Now do you think
- 6:14Speaker 1: any of you will assume the role of your significant
- 6:16Speaker 1: others when we play trivia like Katie and care you
- 6:19Speaker 1: guys are gonna feud like Steven Brody? Does you think no?
- 6:22Speaker 1: I mean Steve listening to Steve on Trivia, Like if
- 6:27Speaker 1: if I do sound like that, someone just kicks out.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Does that sound familiar when you hear Steve on Trivia? Like, Oh,
- 6:34Speaker 1: that's that's a version of him. I know, Oh yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I mean that. Yes, that's a very familiar version. I
- 6:40Speaker 1: think in terms of the way I plan to play,
- 6:43Speaker 1: as I already said, I don't don't possess a lot
- 6:46Speaker 1: of inherent knowledge or facts on many things. I can
- 6:50Speaker 1: do a lot of things well, retaining basic factual information
- 6:54Speaker 1: about nature is not not one of them. So we'll
- 6:57Speaker 1: see how this goes. But I'm also very competitive, so
- 7:00Speaker 1: we'll see how those two things mesh. Katie and I
- 7:03Speaker 1: feud all the time, past time anyway we're used to. Yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 1: and Jennifer, if you're going to assume the role of
- 7:10Speaker 1: honest and you just need to be like overly complimentary
- 7:13Speaker 1: to everybody, that's that's what you do. If he was here,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm not prepared for that, but I will try. I'm
- 7:18Speaker 1: just hoping for at least one question about plants nail
- 7:21Speaker 1: plants in the Western you ask, because that's that's all
- 7:23Speaker 1: I got. Here's the thing. I think everybody will do
- 7:26Speaker 1: very well on this episode. It's not that the questions
- 7:28Speaker 1: are easier, but I went to the edge of the
- 7:30Speaker 1: meat Eater universe while still maintaining the integrity of the
- 7:34Speaker 1: game to create these questions. So I think everyone has
- 7:36Speaker 1: a good chance to perform well here. Also, I'm playing
- 7:40Speaker 1: as well, and I don't think you announced that. That's right.
- 7:42Speaker 1: There is there a reason you asked me to play.
- 7:44Speaker 1: So here's what's gonna happen. Uh. The added wrinkle is
- 7:47Speaker 1: my wife Shelby is going to host. I didn't feel
- 7:50Speaker 1: like it'd be fair for her to play against you. Guys,
- 7:53Speaker 1: because she's exposed to so many of the same things
- 7:55Speaker 1: that I am. Will be driving down the road and
- 7:57Speaker 1: I'll handle my phone. I'll be like, hey, write this
- 7:59Speaker 1: down in my notes amp about alligator brains. Or we'll
- 8:02Speaker 1: be watching um like that's right. We'll be like watching
- 8:06Speaker 1: the Planet Earth documentary and they'll say something about bison there,
- 8:11Speaker 1: and then like, she's just exposed to the same thing.
- 8:13Speaker 1: So I'd have felt bad if she would have came
- 8:15Speaker 1: in here and cleaned up. So Shelby is going to host,
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm going to keep score, and then we're gonna let
- 8:21Speaker 1: Phil play as well, so we can do bad together
- 8:25Speaker 1: bonding a couple's building exercise. I think Spencer was being
- 8:29Speaker 1: both too generous and not generous enough. First of all,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I would have cleaned up anyway, like, but also I
- 8:37Speaker 1: give him a ton of question ideas I do she does.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I have a lot of TikTok's and Instagram dms from
- 8:46Speaker 1: her things she think would be relevant for the show,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and she does a good job of it. Now, do you, guys,
- 8:52Speaker 1: are you invested in how your partner does in trivia
- 8:54Speaker 1: at home? Like do you notice a mood chains and
- 8:56Speaker 1: they do well or nothing. I put so much pressure
- 8:59Speaker 1: on seven you get your asset there, And when training
- 9:04Speaker 1: he got like a towl around. He's just like low
- 9:07Speaker 1: pressure on himself. I'm the one that's like, come on,
- 9:10Speaker 1: what was that performance that's good? Is? Is it like
- 9:12Speaker 1: a topic of conversation around the dinner table for everyone else, like, oh,
- 9:15Speaker 1: we played trivia today and only got full right? Anything
- 9:18Speaker 1: like that happened not in our house. But I do
- 9:21Speaker 1: know that Steve has a tendency to argue when he
- 9:23Speaker 1: doesn't get answers right. So sometimes we talk about the
- 9:26Speaker 1: legitimacy of the arguments he's making a lot of which
- 9:30Speaker 1: I don't agree with, just for the record, But Roadie's
- 9:33Speaker 1: pretty little key about it at home. He's a very
- 9:36Speaker 1: humble guy. And with that, we are on to meet
- 9:41Speaker 1: Eater Trivia, take It Away Shelby and play the drop Phil. Look,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand to win everything.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm saying, just tend to win everything. Game on Suckers.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Do you know my daughter will just play that for friends.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Friends come over and she's like, do you want to
- 10:09Speaker 1: hear something? And what is her like? Uh? Why does
- 10:13Speaker 1: she like it to? Oh? She's just so proud and
- 10:18Speaker 1: and your friends, like, do they give her the attention
- 10:21Speaker 1: that I think it's awesome? That's great. All right. Question
- 10:26Speaker 1: one the topic is conservation. Are you ready? We're looking
- 10:32Speaker 1: hesitating for this. All right, Well we're jumping in. What
- 10:40Speaker 1: hurricane destroyed an exotic animal facility that caused pythons to
- 10:45Speaker 1: be released into the Evergladesh before I was born? And
- 10:51Speaker 1: it's multiple choice. Okay, it's like, this is my first
- 10:55Speaker 1: time or something. The choices are hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Gordon,
- 11:01Speaker 1: Thelma or Mitch. What hurricane destroyed an exotic animal facility
- 11:11Speaker 1: that caused pythons to be released into the Everglades? Andrew, Gordon,
- 11:17Speaker 1: Thelma or Mitch? How old was everyone in? Okay, forget
- 11:29Speaker 1: I ask You're Shelby was negative A couple of years old.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I was born that year. Everything. Luckily I don't have
- 11:43Speaker 1: to answer it. But how are we doing? Everyone got
- 11:46Speaker 1: an answer? Yeah? Alright, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 11:50Speaker 1: We've got Brian with Andrew, Katie, Andrew, Jennifer, Andrew, Andrew, Andrew.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It's Thelma from Kelsey and Andrew from Thelma the room,
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's Andrew. I was kind of random. Pythons had been
- 12:13Speaker 1: present in the Everglades since the eighties, but it said
- 12:15Speaker 1: that populations boomed after Hurricane Andrew released more of them.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Andrew is one of only four tropical cyclones to make
- 12:22Speaker 1: landfall in America. As a Category five storm, The hurricane
- 12:26Speaker 1: caused over twenty seven billion dollars in damage and killed
- 12:29Speaker 1: sixty five people. So jeez, Andrew, Yeah, tough. Question two,
- 12:36Speaker 1: the topic is cooking? Was something? I know? What meaty
- 12:44Speaker 1: sandwich gets its name from? The Greek word for turning. Oh,
- 12:51Speaker 1: we got some confident answers, some stumped people. Multiple choice
- 12:56Speaker 1: this time, what meaty sandwich gets its name from the
- 12:59Speaker 1: Greek word for turning? Can you say meaty sandwich one
- 13:03Speaker 1: more time? Meeting sandwich? Jenner's staring at my to get
- 13:12Speaker 1: really competitive, No, you're is anybody familiar with multiple kinds
- 13:16Speaker 1: of Greek sandwiches? Absolutely not. We don't like hints in
- 13:22Speaker 1: this room. Everyone got one? All right, go ahead and reveal.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Oh we got the room saying euro. Everyone's got it right.
- 13:37Speaker 1: It is a euro? Euro? Is a euro or giro?
- 13:41Speaker 1: You know, I think Americans say giro, but that's I
- 13:47Speaker 1: think it's zero. Right. Yeah, you grew up in New York,
- 13:50Speaker 1: Katie Michigan. Actually, oh sure, but you lived and lived
- 13:54Speaker 1: in Okay. So euros were invented in Greece, but we're
- 13:57Speaker 1: inspired by donner Kebabs from the Middle East in the
- 14:00Speaker 1: became popular in America after Greek euro shops started opening
- 14:03Speaker 1: in New York City in the seventies. If you want
- 14:05Speaker 1: to learn how to make the tazeki sauce that goes
- 14:07Speaker 1: on a euro, then go to the meat eator dot
- 14:09Speaker 1: com and check out Daniel Pruitt's recipe for Greek venison meatballs.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Did you have a favorite euroshop? Just stop at those
- 14:17Speaker 1: food vendors. We had a really nice Greek restaurant that
- 14:20Speaker 1: did take out next door convenience convenient amazing when I
- 14:27Speaker 1: lived onto Question three, the topic is gear. What rapper
- 14:39Speaker 1: was sued by Real Tree in two thousand eighteen for
- 14:43Speaker 1: printing their camo pattern on his easy clothing line? Oh
- 14:47Speaker 1: my gosh, that is talk about someone in the news.
- 14:53Speaker 1: We've got some confident answers here. What rapper was sued
- 14:57Speaker 1: by Real Tree in two thousand eighteen for printing their
- 15:00Speaker 1: camel pattern on his easy clothing line? Everyone got modern
- 15:06Speaker 1: for me. I want to give a hint so bad.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I have a lot to say about this after we Okay,
- 15:15Speaker 1: let's reveal that. Let's get going. I'm curious. I'm guessing.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Kanye Kanye, Kanye, Kanye Kanye. It is
- 15:27Speaker 1: Kanye West. Okay, have you seen the latest trash bag thing, Balencia?
- 15:34Speaker 1: You probably know more about it. And I don't know
- 15:37Speaker 1: if it was him. I like remember associate some headline
- 15:41Speaker 1: associating him with this, but he like came out with
- 15:44Speaker 1: like a designer trash bag that you would carry all
- 15:47Speaker 1: your stuff around. It was trash by Black trash bag,
- 15:49Speaker 1: of course, and it was probably like three thou dollars
- 15:52Speaker 1: or something ridiculous. I want to bring up the fact
- 15:54Speaker 1: that he just changed his name though, What is it
- 15:57Speaker 1: to ya legally? Yes? Oh my goodnes So, I feel
- 16:01Speaker 1: I don't know. Am I gonna go all Alexander's supertramp
- 16:03Speaker 1: on this room? I could? All right? Yeah, it was
- 16:10Speaker 1: Kanye West. Real Tree alleges that Yeazy reached out to
- 16:13Speaker 1: them in two thousand and sixteen regarding the use of
- 16:16Speaker 1: their camera pattern. Easy was told they needed to fill
- 16:18Speaker 1: out a licensing application, but never did. Instead, they printed
- 16:22Speaker 1: three of Real Trees patterns on thigh high boots, sweatpants
- 16:25Speaker 1: and hoodies without permission. Lebron James also named in the
- 16:29Speaker 1: lawsuit for doing the same thing with his online boutique.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I didn't even know he had an online boutique, but
- 16:33Speaker 1: Seth would love for me to get some of those
- 16:36Speaker 1: real treas. There you go be styling really up in
- 16:40Speaker 1: the mountains, looking fly. I love it alright. Question four
- 16:45Speaker 1: the topic is conservation. What kind of animal was the
- 16:49Speaker 1: star of Zaboomafoo, a children's series about wildlife that aired
- 16:53Speaker 1: on PBS in the late nineties and early two thousand.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Here we go again, the Asian vanda, no idea. I
- 17:05Speaker 1: remember what was the called We're looking for the animal
- 17:11Speaker 1: that starred in Zaboomafoo, which was just like the species
- 17:15Speaker 1: or whatever not that. I don't know what are you
- 17:17Speaker 1: looking for? You want its name? Oh? You know its name?
- 17:20Speaker 1: Even man Adrian is coming in high. No, we just
- 17:25Speaker 1: need the kind of animal Zaboomafoo was. What kind of
- 17:29Speaker 1: animal was the star of Zaboomafoo, a children's series about
- 17:31Speaker 1: wildlife that aired on PBS in the late nineties and
- 17:35Speaker 1: early two thousand. Throwback, everyone got an answer, Oh, we're
- 17:43Speaker 1: still writing a little bit. Okay, reveal him. We've got
- 17:46Speaker 1: Brian with Monkey, Katie with Koala Jen with Baboon phills.
- 17:51Speaker 1: That says Columbus. I was writing it really quickly. Adrian's
- 17:58Speaker 1: got Lemur, Kelsey's got Lemur, and Carrie's got new I
- 18:02Speaker 1: don't know what that is. Yeah, like Gary Gano from
- 18:06Speaker 1: the Okay, I'll look it up. I'll look it up.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It is a lemur, a retail lemur to be specific.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Za Booba Foo, which won two Emmy Awards in two
- 18:17Speaker 1: thousand one, lasted sixty five episodes and was broadcast in
- 18:21Speaker 1: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Zabooma whose
- 18:25Speaker 1: real name was actually Jovian and he died in his
- 18:29Speaker 1: home in North Carolina and fourteen at the age of twenty.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I didn't know they lived, right, that's crazy. So this
- 18:37Speaker 1: was live. This wasn't a cartoon, correct. Yeah. They had
- 18:40Speaker 1: like I don't know if they were zoologists or biologists
- 18:43Speaker 1: or if they were just hosts, but they there were
- 18:45Speaker 1: two men and they still have a show on PBS,
- 18:47Speaker 1: a new one. Yeah, it's animated now. Our kids watched
- 18:50Speaker 1: the Wild Crats Wildcrats. Yeah, about the wildcrats on this
- 18:55Speaker 1: program before. Loved wild crats, but yeah, they always have
- 19:00Speaker 1: like the evil guys, always like the Hunter. Yeah so,
- 19:03Speaker 1: but in Zola Foo it was a totally different format
- 19:06Speaker 1: and yeah, they had like a real live Lemur. There
- 19:08Speaker 1: was also a puppet version of it. Yeah, cute, but
- 19:13Speaker 1: it was more I don't know, realistic and like factual
- 19:16Speaker 1: and whatever. And now it's like an adventure cartoon. It's
- 19:19Speaker 1: really ruined. Z of Boma food on the show cute.
- 19:26Speaker 1: They once fed a lemur a bunch of cheerios and
- 19:29Speaker 1: grapes and they have the softest little hands and they're
- 19:32Speaker 1: a little creepy, but they're so cute. I do like
- 19:35Speaker 1: it all right. Question five the topic is hunting. Oh right,
- 19:45Speaker 1: for the expertise, this is this is loosely hunting. So
- 19:49Speaker 1: sorry Brian. But the Hunter's moon always lands in one
- 19:52Speaker 1: of two months. Name one of those months. The Hunter's
- 19:58Speaker 1: moon always lands in one of two months. Name one
- 20:05Speaker 1: of those months. How we feeling? Every got an answer?
- 20:11Speaker 1: I wrote down a month answers We've got Brian with November,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Katie October, Jen September, Phil November, Adrian November, Kelsey October
- 20:25Speaker 1: and Carrie October. The answers are October and November. That
- 20:30Speaker 1: makes sense, Yeah, yeah, it makes sense. For the Hunter's moon.
- 20:33Speaker 1: The Hunter's moon is always the first full moon after
- 20:36Speaker 1: the harvest moon. And since the harvest moon is the
- 20:39Speaker 1: full moon nearest the autumn equinox, then the harvest moon
- 20:42Speaker 1: can either be in September or October, and this puts
- 20:45Speaker 1: the Hunter's Moon in October or November. This year's hunters
- 20:49Speaker 1: Moon is actually on the ninth of October, so it's
- 20:50Speaker 1: coming up. What does it look like a full moon?
- 20:54Speaker 1: I don't know. Every full moon has a different name,
- 20:58Speaker 1: and that's just what that full moon he's called. Okay,
- 21:01Speaker 1: it's a it's a camo pattern. Specifically, it's just a
- 21:06Speaker 1: big picture of Kanye West face and a trash bag.
- 21:14Speaker 1: All right. Now that that's after question five, we need
- 21:18Speaker 1: a scoreboard update from Spencer. Everybody's on the board and
- 21:21Speaker 1: everybody is doing well. We have Carrie and Jennifer with
- 21:24Speaker 1: three points. Now we have Katie, Kelsey and Phil with
- 21:28Speaker 1: four points and Brian with four points and pitching a
- 21:32Speaker 1: perfect game is Adrian, who declared she has five correct answers,
- 21:39Speaker 1: killing it. That's great. I mean this is not what
- 21:42Speaker 1: I was expecting. Katie take her down? So got half
- 21:52Speaker 1: game left? All right, Phil? Keeping score is much harder
- 21:54Speaker 1: than you let on. There's a lot going on over here.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I don't I don't really like it. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 21:58Speaker 1: let you keep this job from now long. Thank you?
- 22:00Speaker 1: Do I get to pay raise? Is anyone in the room?
- 22:13Speaker 1: All right? Question six is wildlife? How many continents have penguins? O?
- 22:21Speaker 1: How many continents have penguins? We see a lot of
- 22:26Speaker 1: thinking faces, particularly from Jennifer and Phil. They're like staring
- 22:30Speaker 1: at the ceiling over there. Lips first. No, did the
- 22:34Speaker 1: Jews in the States count? Oh? I I would say no.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Spencer wrote these questions. He is the voice of authority. No,
- 22:42Speaker 1: Zeus don't count. It's just the continents that have wild
- 22:45Speaker 1: penguins living on them. Man, I've never thought about this.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I love happy feet, so I feel pretty confident on
- 22:57Speaker 1: this one. All right, does everybody have an answer? I
- 23:01Speaker 1: got a guess. All right, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 23:05Speaker 1: We have Brian with one, Katie with three, Jennifer with three,
- 23:09Speaker 1: Phil with three, Adrian with two, Kelsey with four, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: Carry with three. The answer is four back penguins are
- 23:23Speaker 1: found on every continent in the Southern hemisphere, which puts
- 23:26Speaker 1: them in Antarctica, South America, Africa, and Australia. The Galapagos
- 23:30Speaker 1: Island penguins are the rarest penguins in the world and
- 23:33Speaker 1: are the only ones that live north of the equator.
- 23:37Speaker 1: So four continents alright, by Africa there. I didn't know
- 23:43Speaker 1: that one either, but now we know. Now we do.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Question seven. The topic is predators, and this is our
- 23:50Speaker 1: listener question of the Week, which was one by Justin Stole.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm sorry Justin that you don't get Spencer's nice deep
- 23:56Speaker 1: voice announcing you, but you are still getting a signed
- 24:00Speaker 1: copy of the Complete Guide for Hunting, butchering, and Cooking
- 24:03Speaker 1: Wild Game. If you want a chance to win the
- 24:05Speaker 1: Listener Question of the Week, send your question to Trivia
- 24:08Speaker 1: at the meat eater dot com. Now, name two of
- 24:12Speaker 1: the top five states with the most mountain lions. Oh,
- 24:21Speaker 1: two of the top five states with the most mountain lions.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Pretty confident? Room here, I think everyone's writing, Oh, never mind,
- 24:33Speaker 1: Phil is not confident. Did you also forget the name
- 24:37Speaker 1: of all of the states? Because I did, just drawing
- 24:42Speaker 1: him like everyone got an answer? All right, let's go
- 24:45Speaker 1: ahead and reveal those answers. We've got Brian with Nevada
- 24:48Speaker 1: and Arizona, Katie with California, Nevada, Jennifer Californian, Idaho, Phil
- 24:54Speaker 1: Washington and Idaho, Adrian Montana and Colorado. Kelsey says California
- 24:58Speaker 1: and Montana. Carrie as Colorado and California. I think we
- 25:02Speaker 1: got some right answers. The top five are Oregan, California, Colorado,
- 25:07Speaker 1: New Mexico, and Montana. Alright, okay, very upset, Adrian and
- 25:15Speaker 1: Kelsey and Brian and carry they all got it right.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Did I miss anybody? No? All right? That was about
- 25:21Speaker 1: pretty good. Pretty like Adrian came and she's like, oh,
- 25:23Speaker 1: I'm not going to get anything. I've had a lot
- 25:27Speaker 1: of lucky guess. It's estimated that there are six thousand
- 25:32Speaker 1: mountain lions in Oregon. That's followed by California and Colorado
- 25:36Speaker 1: with five thousand, New Mexico with three thousand, five hundred
- 25:39Speaker 1: in Montana with three thousand just missing. The top five
- 25:42Speaker 1: are Arizona, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. So you're closed there.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Question eight topic is public lands what character created by
- 25:53Speaker 1: the four Service in nineteen seventy used the catchphrase give
- 25:57Speaker 1: a hoot, don't pollut. We have to know his name,
- 26:01Speaker 1: or one know his name. We're looking for the character's
- 26:03Speaker 1: name created oh man. He was created by the Forest
- 26:11Speaker 1: Service in v and used the catchphrase give a hoot,
- 26:16Speaker 1: don't pollute. This is before my time. Give me more
- 26:20Speaker 1: pps kids questions, we need Brodie here, the old boomer. Yeah,
- 26:28Speaker 1: I remember that little fact. That's strange. I love it.
- 26:33Speaker 1: At the back of my board says suck at Brodie.
- 26:39Speaker 1: What do you think wrote that? Katie? Um? Oh, I
- 26:42Speaker 1: don't recognize that handwriting at all. It doesn't look like
- 26:45Speaker 1: Steve's handwriting at all. Oh oh man, this is making
- 26:52Speaker 1: me so mad. I didn't even know he had a name.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Is he still around? I seen, I've seen the signs.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I can visualize him in my head. I just don't
- 27:05Speaker 1: know what his name and never bothered. I guess that's
- 27:08Speaker 1: a whole franchise opportunity. Someone could really take that and
- 27:12Speaker 1: everyone got an answer? Sure, not a good one. All right,
- 27:16Speaker 1: let's go ahead and see him got Brian Mr Owl,
- 27:19Speaker 1: question Mark, Oscar Owl, Plucky the Owl, Wally Oli the Owl, Owl,
- 27:25Speaker 1: Ali the Owl. Nobody got it well, you guys were
- 27:28Speaker 1: all on the same Atlanta thinking his name is Woodsy Owl.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Wasn't it an element? Yeah that's Mr Owl. Different guy,
- 27:45Speaker 1: totally different guy. How many does it take? Woodsy was
- 27:50Speaker 1: originally used as a mascot that promoted the four RS Reduce, Reuse, recycle,
- 27:55Speaker 1: and rot, but the four Service later decided they wanted
- 27:59Speaker 1: him to champion outter conservation message, which is why they
- 28:02Speaker 1: change his motto from give a hoot, don't pollute to
- 28:05Speaker 1: lend a hand care for the land. And that is
- 28:08Speaker 1: question eight. So we're back to Spencer with a scoreboard update. Jennifer,
- 28:12Speaker 1: who is out of the running for first place, has
- 28:15Speaker 1: three correct answers. Everyone else is still in the game though.
- 28:18Speaker 1: We have Phil, Katie and Carry with thank you pointing
- 28:23Speaker 1: that out very fun film. Carry, Katie and Phil with
- 28:33Speaker 1: four points, Brian and Kelsey with five points, and Adrian
- 28:37Speaker 1: still in the lead six correct answer. Two questions left
- 28:42Speaker 1: a lot of pressure. Yeah, it's very saight. Yeah, I'm
- 28:45Speaker 1: you're done for jenn place here. I'm just to tell
- 28:51Speaker 1: people they're doing ye well. Yeah. Compliment, Compliment the questions,
- 28:57Speaker 1: Compliment everyone's answers, Compliment Phill on his sound effec this
- 29:00Speaker 1: is what Yanni would be doing. Okay, okay, I'll try
- 29:02Speaker 1: to work. Actually, if it was honest to be complaining
- 29:06Speaker 1: that my sound effects are too long, we need to
- 29:08Speaker 1: get things going. That's one way. One way. He doesn't compliment,
- 29:14Speaker 1: all right. Question nine topic is cooking. What sweet pastry
- 29:20Speaker 1: is often paired with chili in rural parts of the
- 29:23Speaker 1: West and Midwest? What sweet pastry is often paired with
- 29:31Speaker 1: chili and rural parts of the West and Midwest. Is
- 29:35Speaker 1: this the thing that you guys do? Absolutely? Yeah, okay,
- 29:39Speaker 1: so I know the answer to this, but I've never
- 29:41Speaker 1: tried it. I learned this recently. I mean, who would complain,
- 29:45Speaker 1: No one exactly. I feel like I need to try it.
- 29:49Speaker 1: It's a great excuse. It's a great excuse to just say.
- 29:52Speaker 1: It was even served at our kids school for lunch recently.
- 29:55Speaker 1: That's how we actually were introduced to it. Yeah, I've
- 29:57Speaker 1: heard that it's a Montana school thing. I'm from the Midwest.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Never heard of this till I lived in Montana. Really, yeah,
- 30:03Speaker 1: do you have this in Michigan? I don't think. I
- 30:07Speaker 1: don't know. We just I feel like we ate so
- 30:09Speaker 1: many things with sugar on them. That's hard to really
- 30:12Speaker 1: what is the answer, Well, let's reveal it. Let's see,
- 30:16Speaker 1: are should be cornbread? Yeah? Rolls? Jennifer says, corn bread.
- 30:23Speaker 1: It should should be cornbread. You're you're right there. Cinnamon
- 30:26Speaker 1: roles from phil Adrian Kelsey and carry. The answer is
- 30:30Speaker 1: cinnamon rolls. And it may be because it's delicious with
- 30:34Speaker 1: corn with chili. Supposedly bad about it about it? I
- 30:44Speaker 1: doroken the South take it up with school lunch programs
- 30:50Speaker 1: because this parent originated with school lunch programs in the sixties. Iowa, Colorado, Nebraska, Indiana, Idaho,
- 30:57Speaker 1: and Washington all claimed to be the first dates to
- 31:01Speaker 1: serve cinnamon rolls with chili, but this unlikely duo is
- 31:04Speaker 1: still popular today, from cafes in Minnesota that serves them together,
- 31:07Speaker 1: to school lunches in South Dakota and obviously Montana. Yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 1: I call bs on the Minnesota piece. You could do
- 31:16Speaker 1: like a cinnamon roll chili bowl. That would be pretty good.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Heaven to take the center out with that work, But
- 31:24Speaker 1: the center of the cinnamon, the best part are a
- 31:30Speaker 1: bunch of a little mini I like it on top.
- 31:32Speaker 1: It's a lot of work. Maybe broil it for a minute,
- 31:34Speaker 1: give her nice look. Okay, so I'm into that. I'm
- 31:37Speaker 1: into that. Looking back at Spencer for the final scoreboard update,
- 31:41Speaker 1: we are down to two players left competing for the
- 31:44Speaker 1: first places man Kelsey has six points and Adrian has
- 31:50Speaker 1: seven points. So we had the last question coming up.
- 31:52Speaker 1: We need to get it wrong and Kelsey to get
- 31:55Speaker 1: it right over time. All right, I'm I'm sweating. This
- 32:01Speaker 1: is so much crassure. I'm excited to use up one
- 32:06Speaker 1: of Spencer's tiebreaker questions. So sorry, Adrian, I'm rooting for
- 32:10Speaker 1: Kelsey on this one, so always we can do one regardless.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I don't know. Spencer is pretty pretty tight. On the
- 32:20Speaker 1: last episode. I turned down the CEO on doing a
- 32:22Speaker 1: tiebreaker just for funzies, but I would do it for
- 32:24Speaker 1: this roote. We'll do it, tak so generous. Al right,
- 32:30Speaker 1: Question ten, here's the heat Adrian and Kelsey. Who the
- 32:34Speaker 1: topic is gear? Oh God, don't be so sure. Here
- 32:39Speaker 1: we go. What zodiac sign? All right? What zodiac sign
- 32:49Speaker 1: features archery equipment? We're looking for the zodiac sign. I
- 32:56Speaker 1: just want to point out that last for that podcast,
- 33:00Speaker 1: as we did the Wives of Meeting your podcast, you
- 33:02Speaker 1: came in hot with some zodiac facts, and Steve was
- 33:05Speaker 1: literally like, get out of here with zodiac. I don't
- 33:11Speaker 1: know how to spell this. That's okay, Okay, that's my hint. Jeez,
- 33:20Speaker 1: I'm not got shifting blocking. There's a lot of a
- 33:26Speaker 1: lot of tension over here. Will you accept abbreviations because
- 33:30Speaker 1: I also don't. I would. I would say yes, Spencer,
- 33:33Speaker 1: give us a nod. Spelling's never has never dinged anyone before.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I would say yes, we're gonna give it to you.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Since it's so close. Okay, how are we doing all right?
- 33:44Speaker 1: Let's super confident. Oh wait, we might have some lesson changes. Okay,
- 33:51Speaker 1: reveal your answers. I meant too deep. I can't change
- 33:53Speaker 1: it now, Brian says, Aries Katie with nothing, Jennifer with aries,
- 33:58Speaker 1: Phil with Sagittarius, with Sagittarius, Kelsey was Sagittarius, Carrie was Sagittarius.
- 34:03Speaker 1: The answer is sagittarius Arius. There it is. I think
- 34:09Speaker 1: Steve would be proud that I didn't even answer it
- 34:15Speaker 1: that question. Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the zodiac
- 34:20Speaker 1: and runs from November two to December twenty one. It
- 34:23Speaker 1: is represented by either a center shooting a bow and
- 34:25Speaker 1: arrow or by an arrow drawn across a boat. So
- 34:29Speaker 1: we don't have a ton of Zodiac friendly people in
- 34:32Speaker 1: the room. But do we have a sagittarius one of
- 34:36Speaker 1: my other ones? Did he know that? He does know that?
- 34:40Speaker 1: I think oh no, wait, no, best part as a
- 34:53Speaker 1: Sagittarius is November decemb was the guy from the rest
- 35:00Speaker 1: guys really talked for a while, Steve like a February
- 35:04Speaker 1: or March birthday? Oh my god, yeah, he's definitely he's February.
- 35:13Speaker 1: So that's not Adrian, well done, underdog, so impressive, especially
- 35:22Speaker 1: that you came in here defiant that you weren't going
- 35:24Speaker 1: to perform very well. I'm also highly competitive. So now
- 35:28Speaker 1: what happens next is you get to choose where meat
- 35:31Speaker 1: eaters five hundred dollar conservation organization donation goes. The back
- 35:36Speaker 1: of this board has I think conservation organizations, every whatever's
- 35:42Speaker 1: tugging at your heart from where you want to donate.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So at this point it really comes down to the marketing,
- 35:49Speaker 1: the best logo, what do you read? Which one is
- 35:53Speaker 1: he liking. I'm kind of liking Pheasants Forever. We've never
- 35:56Speaker 1: donated to them. Choice Adrian picks Sence Forever. Adrian, how
- 36:01Speaker 1: many pheasants have you shot or eaten in your life? Zero? Perfect,
- 36:04Speaker 1: You're you're the perfect person for their organization. That's a
- 36:07Speaker 1: lot of conserving pheasants. That's right. I did walk into
- 36:11Speaker 1: our this is I walked into our garage the other
- 36:14Speaker 1: day and taking a trash drag the other day. This
- 36:16Speaker 1: was months ago. Okay, well, however it wasn't a day
- 36:19Speaker 1: that is other and uh it turned over and there's
- 36:22Speaker 1: just there was a dead sharp tailed grouse just laying
- 36:25Speaker 1: in the middle of our garage. And then he calls
- 36:27Speaker 1: me and he was like, I think one of the
- 36:29Speaker 1: cats like killed this grouse and dropped it in the garage.
- 36:32Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, that was me. I hit
- 36:36Speaker 1: it with my car and it must have gotten stuck
- 36:38Speaker 1: and then fell up. The scenes were like it's scampering
- 36:41Speaker 1: and it's starting to fly away, and you're like it's
- 36:42Speaker 1: it's gone, it's going, and then bam, I'm like smacked
- 36:44Speaker 1: into it and it got stuck in my grill. And
- 36:46Speaker 1: I had no idea. Had just been like, yeah, honey,
- 36:48Speaker 1: it's dinner. Anyway, It's not a pheasant. But we see
- 36:54Speaker 1: lots of grouse and pheasants on our little back kind
- 36:56Speaker 1: of did you eat it and we did not? Did
- 36:59Speaker 1: the cats get it? No? So cal trust me, I'm
- 37:05Speaker 1: gonna cut this part out. Now you have a genuine
- 37:09Speaker 1: tie to Pheasants forever, good agent. Do you guys want
- 37:12Speaker 1: a tiebreaker to uh see, we had quite a few
- 37:14Speaker 1: of you who wound up with the same amount of points, Yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 1: we do. We have a Carrie and Phil were tied
- 37:20Speaker 1: with six, Brian and Katie tied with five. So those
- 37:24Speaker 1: are the folks competing to see who can take our
- 37:27Speaker 1: bronze medal. All right, Oh, I get to do the tiebreaker, Brian,
- 37:31Speaker 1: You're going down. The topic is conservation now. Just as
- 37:37Speaker 1: a reminder, our tiebreaker questions are numercle. The person who
- 37:41Speaker 1: is closest at the correct answer is the winner. So
- 37:45Speaker 1: what year we're bald eagles removed from the endangered species list?
- 37:54Speaker 1: What year we're bald eagles removed from the endangered species lists?
- 38:05Speaker 1: Just enjoying the ambiance? I have a guess. But how
- 38:09Speaker 1: are you feeling Brian? Still? Oh man, Brian, I feel
- 38:15Speaker 1: really bad. I think I don't know. Luckily, you just
- 38:19Speaker 1: gotta get close. Confidence is scaring me a little bit.
- 38:23Speaker 1: How do you know this is like, this is where
- 38:26Speaker 1: I said highly competitive, not allowed to back it up.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I'm scared. I'm shoot in the dark. All Right, we
- 38:34Speaker 1: got something written. Reveal your answers. Brian says nine nine,
- 38:39Speaker 1: Katie says two thousand five. Phil says nineteen seventy six,
- 38:43Speaker 1: Adrian says night five. Carrie says night nine. The answer
- 38:48Speaker 1: is two thousand seven. That's recently. I was Katie, you
- 38:56Speaker 1: got it. Bald Eagles were removed from the list in
- 38:59Speaker 1: two thousand seven. That feels really good, guys to hand
- 39:04Speaker 1: it on. Do you guys enjoyed I enjoyed having you
- 39:07Speaker 1: because I got to use questions that otherwise wouldn't fit
- 39:10Speaker 1: in the game. Steve and Brody would throw a fit
- 39:12Speaker 1: if there was a question that had the answer Kanye West.
- 39:16Speaker 1: So I need to have you guys on on like
- 39:18Speaker 1: an annual basis, just to like clear out some of
- 39:20Speaker 1: these fun questions I have. This was fun. Yeah, no
- 39:26Speaker 1: fishing questions today. Yeah, thank god for that. Carrie. It's
- 39:32Speaker 1: kind of wild that you notice that. I'm very surprised.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I realized when I wrote the script I didn't have
- 39:36Speaker 1: any fishing questions. Like nobody's gonna notice especially if they
- 39:40Speaker 1: did notice, they wouldn't call me out. But here we are.
- 39:44Speaker 1: That's it, Shelby, Close us out and send us out
- 39:47Speaker 1: of the game of Trivia. You gotta hit us with
- 39:50Speaker 1: the tagline it's here at the very end letters how
- 39:54Speaker 1: every show ends. You would think I would know this
- 39:57Speaker 1: all right, Join us next time from our meta Dear Trivia,
- 40:00Speaker 1: the only game show where conservation always wins. So you
- 40:07Speaker 1: killed it. I kept clapping and snapping. I'm really sorry, Phil. Oh,
- 40:11Speaker 1: that's fine. Enthusiasm is good. Yeah, we love it.
