- 0:22Speaker 2: I'm going to open with a story here, and there's
- 0:25Speaker 2: a reason I'm opening with this. The story has to
- 0:29Speaker 2: do with a federal indictment that came down grand jury issued.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Original investigation began last week into a guy from Kenosha
- 0:38Speaker 2: who's facing serious charges of threatening to kill an FBI agent.
- 0:43Speaker 2: He made other threats against other federal agents as well. No,
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm just going to briefly go into the detail of
- 0:49Speaker 2: the story and then I'll tell you why I'm leading
- 0:51Speaker 2: with the story. Much of my background here comes from
- 0:54Speaker 2: Kenosha County, I which I think was the first to
- 0:57Speaker 2: originally report of the story. I quote are now unsealed
- 1:01Speaker 2: federal indictment. It's apparently several days old, was unsealed I
- 1:04Speaker 2: think yesterday or the day before. The man's name is
- 1:07Speaker 2: Andrew Warren Stanton. He's from Kenosha, thirty eight. Now again
- 1:12Speaker 2: that's a fairly common name, so if you know somebody
- 1:15Speaker 2: with that name, this guy's thirty eight and He's from Kenosha.
- 1:20Speaker 2: He's a United States military veteran. According to the report
- 1:24Speaker 2: on js online and the report in Kenosha County I,
- 1:29Speaker 2: He's accused of threatening to murder a federal officer. He
- 1:33Speaker 2: also produced a series of TikTok videos calling for violence
- 1:38Speaker 2: against federal agents and in particular, ICE agents. I'll quote
- 1:43Speaker 2: from the Kenosha County Eye report. The FBI's Joined Terrorism
- 1:48Speaker 2: Task Force began investigating Stanton after the Wisconsin Statewide Intelligence
- 1:52Speaker 2: Center flagged disturbing social media activity on his TikTok account.
- 1:57Speaker 2: In one August video, Stanton allegedly said, we're not getting
- 2:01Speaker 2: through to them with using our words. That's never going
- 2:04Speaker 2: to happen. You have to use bullets, and another he declared,
- 2:08Speaker 2: I think we should be offing federal agents. He went
- 2:14Speaker 2: on to specifically name by name a specific federal agent.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It's in the indictment, but I'm not going to mention
- 2:22Speaker 2: it here. So what this was is he went on
- 2:25Speaker 2: and on and on for some period of time calling
- 2:27Speaker 2: for murdering federal agents. And if we've learned anything of recent,
- 2:31Speaker 2: people are willing to do this type of thing. It's
- 2:35Speaker 2: a crime to do it, and he's obviously indicted. I
- 2:41Speaker 2: want you to remember that story as I go into
- 2:44Speaker 2: my free break here because it relates to the point
- 2:47Speaker 2: that I'm going to make about the next story. First
- 2:49Speaker 2: of all, when it comes to shipping, packaging, industrial supplies,

- 3:25Speaker 2: We have another like Karen story, this one from Milwaukee.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I was at both of the first two Brewer games
- 3:34Speaker 2: in For those of you listening to this, I should
- 3:36Speaker 2: mention that we're doing this podcast before game three, a
- 3:39Speaker 2: few hours before Game three autunless nothing to say about
- 3:42Speaker 2: what's happened in those games because occurring after we do this.
- 3:45Speaker 2: But anyway, game two, in particular, in Milwaukee, the first
- 3:51Speaker 2: pitch thrown to a Brewer was to Jackson Curio, who
- 3:54Speaker 2: hit a home run, so of course everybody goes crazy.
- 3:57Speaker 2: First pitch. It was the only run the Brewers score
- 4:01Speaker 2: in the entire game. In any event, were like crazy. Well,
- 4:06Speaker 2: you know, shortly after that, the Dodger scored and then
- 4:08Speaker 2: they took the lead. There weren't lots of Dodger fans
- 4:13Speaker 2: at the stadium. There's always fans of the other team
- 4:16Speaker 2: that are there, but it's nothing a Cubs game. But
- 4:17Speaker 2: there were Dodger fans that were there, and there was
- 4:21Speaker 2: an incident and we know about it because it's captured
- 4:23Speaker 2: on video of a Dodger fan. He was sort of
- 4:26Speaker 2: sitting in the area like behind home plate, slightly to
- 4:29Speaker 2: the Brewer's side, and he's videoing himself getting on all
- 4:36Speaker 2: the Brewer fans. Why you're so quiet now, Why you're
- 4:39Speaker 2: so quiet now? Other's okay the Brewer fans, but nuts
- 4:42Speaker 2: when they scored. Now, they like me and everybody else,
- 4:44Speaker 2: are sitting on our hands because nothing's happening, and nothing's happening,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and this Dodger fan starts getting on people. Now, first
- 4:51Speaker 2: of all, this takes a lot of balls. He's a
- 4:54Speaker 2: Dodger fan, he's an American family field. Almost everybody a
- 5:00Speaker 2: on him is a Brewer fan and he's taunting him.
- 5:05Speaker 2: This stuff happens, and it happens. Its sports, and there's
- 5:08Speaker 2: trash talking that goes on at Paul games. It happens.
- 5:12Speaker 2: It's I think, always dangerous to do a lot of
- 5:15Speaker 2: trash talking when you're in the visit, when you're a
- 5:17Speaker 2: visitor in the other team's home stadium. And there are
- 5:20Speaker 2: some stadiums in which we've seen somebody will we'll clack you.
- 5:24Speaker 2: We've seen real fights breakout. This wasn't a fight instead
- 5:31Speaker 2: a woman, And I don't know if he was targeting
- 5:34Speaker 2: her with the taunts, because we only know where his
- 5:36Speaker 2: video starts. We can assume it was his cell phone.
- 5:39Speaker 2: If it wasn't, it was somebody standing right next to him,
- 5:45Speaker 2: and she gets into an exchange with him. Part of
- 5:49Speaker 2: the exchange was a pretty good shot back. Now, I'm
- 5:55Speaker 2: gonna use language here because there's no way to act
- 5:57Speaker 2: her other point on the story without hearing the language.
- 5:58Speaker 2: So for those of you don't want to hear it,
- 5:59Speaker 2: that's my disclaimer. But she first said he's drinking a
- 6:02Speaker 2: pussy drink, which I think is a pretty good shot.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I'm guessing it was one of those like hard lemonade things.
- 6:09Speaker 2: It might be one of those like colored drinks that
- 6:13Speaker 2: the that the tall blonde girl always walks around with.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But my guess is that it's not a beer. Okay,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I think that's a pretty good shot. All right, he's
- 6:22Speaker 2: barking back. The man is obviously Latino, and she makes
- 6:28Speaker 2: a comment about somebody called ice. We have the exchange here.
- 6:34Speaker 2: There's going to be an F bomb in it, and
- 6:37Speaker 2: we are going to play it because I think it's
- 6:40Speaker 2: important to hear the entire context of everything that both
- 6:42Speaker 2: people said. You have it ready, Paul. All right. Now again,
- 6:46Speaker 2: it's a little bit hard to hear clearly, but I
- 6:48Speaker 2: think you can make it out here. It is.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Everybody quiet, What is this? I'm sorry, Paul eyes us this.
- 7:01Speaker 3: We're veteran, any girl, We're veteran.
- 7:04Speaker 2: To Wards, I said, tell.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Me good luck, good luck, good luck. Calais callom callum
- 7:15Speaker 3: fucking idiot?
- 7:19Speaker 2: All right, that's it, she said, somebody call ies. He
- 7:24Speaker 2: called her an F bombing idiot. In addition to back
- 7:29Speaker 2: and forth, he sounds loaded. But I don't know if
- 7:32Speaker 2: he was or he wasn't. Maybe that's just how he sounded.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Undeniably the guy was the one who provoked Also undeniably,
- 7:41Speaker 2: the woman said to a Latino, call Ice. Every news report.
- 7:47Speaker 2: And for those of you not aware, this story is global.
- 7:51Speaker 2: You heard about the phillies, Karen. I don't think they
- 7:54Speaker 2: ever identified the phillies, Karen, the one who went and
- 7:56Speaker 2: stole the This woman got identified right away. She works
- 8:02Speaker 2: for Manpower and Milwaukee. Manpower fired her and issued a
- 8:05Speaker 2: statement disassociating themselves basically from her entire existence as a
- 8:10Speaker 2: human being. She resigned as a member of the board
- 8:13Speaker 2: of Make a Wish. This is going to follow her forever, forever.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Her comment was, somebody call Ice. First of all, Ice
- 8:29Speaker 2: is the most hot button word in the English language
- 8:31Speaker 2: right now. Ice, immigration and customs enforcement is just reviled
- 8:37Speaker 2: by everyone on the American left. Obviously her reference somebody
- 8:41Speaker 2: called Ice. The guy is Latino, So that's what she said,
- 8:44Speaker 2: somebody call Ies. She doesn't know if he's legal or illegal.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He's legal, That was the comment. I have a number
- 8:51Speaker 2: of things to say about this. First, the thing that
- 8:59Speaker 2: I've done, this made this point a million times, so
- 9:01Speaker 2: this is a million in one. It remains beyond me
- 9:05Speaker 2: that people do not understand that our entire world has changed.
- 9:11Speaker 2: That guy's phone may as well have set been a
- 9:13Speaker 2: giant camera that's set on the side YouTube. Anything that
- 9:18Speaker 2: happens is now showing up on YouTube. Secondly, the guys
- 9:24Speaker 2: videoing this, that means his goal was to get a reaction.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Why else is he videoing himself doing the taunting unless
- 9:32Speaker 2: he's trying to get a reaction. I don't know what
- 9:37Speaker 2: it is. It's all these police videos and everything else.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Do you not understand you're being recorded? There have been
- 9:43Speaker 2: people public officials and assistant attorney general in a state,
- 9:46Speaker 2: you know, somebody arrested after a drunken thing and an
- 9:48Speaker 2: exchange of the people right and left are having their
- 9:51Speaker 2: careers ruined because of things that they do in public
- 9:53Speaker 2: because it gets plastered up on YouTube. It doesn't seem
- 9:56Speaker 2: to me to have changed. Maybe it has changed people's behavior,
- 9:59Speaker 2: but it doesn't seem as though it has. I'm sure
- 10:03Speaker 2: it never dawned on this woman that when she said
- 10:07Speaker 2: somebody call Ice, the whole planet would within thirty six
- 10:11Speaker 2: hours see her saying somebody call Ice. So is at
- 10:15Speaker 2: least the caution to people in my audience, do understand
- 10:19Speaker 2: that if you're in public there's a chance you're being recorded,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and in this case, the guy's holding his phone, and
- 10:25Speaker 2: don't think for a moment it won't show up on YouTube.
- 10:28Speaker 2: If a cop is pulling you over and you're lippy
- 10:31Speaker 2: at all, there's a good chance that the CoP's going
- 10:33Speaker 2: to tip off somebody to make an open records request,
- 10:35Speaker 2: that it's going to show up on one of these utes.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's just the way it is. The counter to that,
- 10:47Speaker 2: my guess is that the rest of this woman's life
- 10:50Speaker 2: has probably been I mean, she's a volunteer's a board
- 10:52Speaker 2: member at Make a Wish. She's there at a brewer game.
- 10:56Speaker 2: This guy's taunting her. She makes one little crack. She
- 10:59Speaker 2: didn't pure drunk, she didn't appear to be. She just
- 11:02Speaker 2: appeared to be somebody kind of fed up with this
- 11:04Speaker 2: goof of a guy that was taunting her and trying
- 11:06Speaker 2: to get this reaction. Now, the guy's doing interviews with
- 11:09Speaker 2: everybody under the sun. The Los Angeles media has made
- 11:11Speaker 2: a huge thing of it. He's all murdering himself up
- 11:14Speaker 2: right and left. He set out to get this reaction.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I mean, it was his entire goal to get somebody
- 11:20Speaker 2: to say something. I don't know that he was offended
- 11:23Speaker 2: by the saying ice because what he got out of
- 11:25Speaker 2: this was his video. If she just if she paused, slapped,
- 11:29Speaker 2: said she was trapping away the phone, she was trying
- 11:30Speaker 2: to slap away the phone. In other words, he got
- 11:33Speaker 2: exactly what he wanted. He forgot. I'm gonna go into
- 11:35Speaker 2: this game in Milwaukee and I'm gonna hack off some
- 11:37Speaker 2: Broer fan and I'm just gonna try and see if
- 11:39Speaker 2: they know something that's over the top enough that I
- 11:41Speaker 2: can have the viral video and my moment in the sun.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And she fell for it. It seems to me as
- 11:50Speaker 2: somebody who himself a quarter century ago got in trouble
- 11:55Speaker 2: for making a comment that is dealing in this whole
- 11:57Speaker 2: general area with illegals. That for this woman, who is
- 12:03Speaker 2: not a public figure, she's not in anything to have
- 12:05Speaker 2: her life entirely savaged over this one comment is wrong.
- 12:13Speaker 2: As for her employer or manpower, I have no idea
- 12:17Speaker 2: what her entire work history is. But they want to
- 12:21Speaker 2: be on the right side of political correctness here, so
- 12:24Speaker 2: they not only can or but they kind of publicly do.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So it doesn't reflect our values. This that and the
- 12:28Speaker 2: other thing. I just wonder how many. Manpower is a
- 12:31Speaker 2: huge company. They're like in every country in the world.
- 12:35Speaker 2: They have to have employees who've done things that are
- 12:38Speaker 2: worse than this. You know, Manpower has had their own
- 12:42Speaker 2: issues on the H one B visa type of issue. Now,
- 12:50Speaker 2: I did a story that I hope you do not forget.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Paul will have forgotten because Paul has zero memory. The
- 12:54Speaker 2: part of his brain that contains memory is just long
- 12:57Speaker 2: since evaporated. Pul says, unless it's like drumming, you don't
- 13:01Speaker 2: remember what was the story I just did four minutes ago.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, I even said, remember this story. The
- 13:09Speaker 2: story was about the guy from Kenosha who threatened to
- 13:13Speaker 2: kill the ice agents. You say, oh yeah, Ay. The
- 13:16Speaker 2: fact of the better is you had already forgotten that story,
- 13:19Speaker 2: which is why I tell people now, I do realize
- 13:21Speaker 2: that everyone in the audience is the only person who's
- 13:24Speaker 2: possible that has a worse memory than Paul is me.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I'm right there, but I think I might surpass him.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Although I left my phone at home today and spend
- 13:32Speaker 2: an hour and a half looking for it before I
- 13:34Speaker 2: finally just had somebody go in and go into my
- 13:36Speaker 2: place and look and see if the phone is in there.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I'm getting worse and worse and worse myself. You and
- 13:40Speaker 2: I are just going to be great in the home together,
- 13:43Speaker 2: babbling away. You're gonna think that you're Thomas Jefferson, and
- 13:46Speaker 2: I'm going to think that I'm Julius Caesar, except we
- 13:49Speaker 2: won't be able to tell his tales because we won't
- 13:51Speaker 2: remember anything that Thomas Jefferson or Julius Caesar anyway. Anyway,
- 14:03Speaker 2: the guy from Kenosha, I don't know this, and I
- 14:06Speaker 2: don't know where he works. I don't know if he
- 14:08Speaker 2: has a job. He's facing charges, and the FEDS are
- 14:14Speaker 2: at last I checked holding him. I wonder if he's
- 14:17Speaker 2: been fired. Look at the number of people who do
- 14:22Speaker 2: all manner of awful things in Milwaukee that don't get fired.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Sixteen brunk drivings, domestic violence. We have people in Milwaukee
- 14:38Speaker 2: who do terrible things over and over and over again
- 14:40Speaker 2: that don't even get arrested, that the DA doesn't charge.
- 14:50Speaker 2: The first guy threatened to kill FBI and ICE agents
- 14:54Speaker 2: won by name. I think I don't know if he
- 14:56Speaker 2: hasn't been fired. I don't know, because who knows anything
- 14:58Speaker 2: about him. I'm merely saying the people that are caught
- 15:03Speaker 2: on video doing something, particularly if it has anything to
- 15:06Speaker 2: do with race, and again particularly if it involves words
- 15:10Speaker 2: rather than actions. I honestly wonder if she smacked him
- 15:15Speaker 2: in the face rather than say that, would she I
- 15:17Speaker 2: think she'd be in less trouble. I honestly do. I
- 15:20Speaker 2: think she would have arrested it she smacked him in
- 15:21Speaker 2: a face, but I don't think they would have fired
- 15:23Speaker 2: her for that. I'm not defending what she said. She is,
- 15:31Speaker 2: you know, throw ice out because he's Latino. I get it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: On the other hand, there was extreme provocation by her,
- 15:40Speaker 2: and he's hurling enough vomb at her. Admittedly this was
- 15:42Speaker 2: after she did the thing that she did. It seems
- 15:50Speaker 2: to me that the humiliation that's going to follow her
- 15:53Speaker 2: and how this is going to dog her, she's getting
- 16:00Speaker 2: a greater punishment than the offense. Given that this type
- 16:03Speaker 2: of punishment that she's getting global humiliation on YouTube, and
- 16:07Speaker 2: you know, anybody who searches their name on Google. The
- 16:10Speaker 2: counter to that is this, at least for the rest
- 16:15Speaker 2: of you, needs to be a teaching moment. There's all
- 16:18Speaker 2: sorts of things you can do when people trash talk back,
- 16:20Speaker 2: but there's certain things you can't do.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Well.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Of course, the Philly Karen thing was worse. This woman
- 16:28Speaker 2: said something that she shouldn't have said that had a
- 16:30Speaker 2: racial connotation to it because he's Latino, raw under extreme
- 16:35Speaker 2: provocation by a guy that's being a total jackass. But
- 16:38Speaker 2: the reality is is that I'm not going to get
- 16:40Speaker 2: in trouble for calling him a total jackass. But she's
- 16:43Speaker 2: going to get in trouble because she said the thing
- 16:44Speaker 2: about it. And it's just the way it is. Paul says,
- 16:51Speaker 2: all these Karen's looking they do all seem to look
- 16:53Speaker 2: they do all seem to look alike. I mean, part
- 16:56Speaker 2: of it is there are certain fashion trends you just
- 16:59Speaker 2: take and you know, the short kind of blonde hair
- 17:03Speaker 2: kind of look is just it's it is all over
- 17:06Speaker 2: the place and so on. And Paul said, she looks
- 17:10Speaker 2: like all the other Karens. Well, that might be an
- 17:12Speaker 2: even crueler thing to do than But again, like Karen
- 17:17Speaker 2: in the Philadelphia think was not provoked. This woman was
- 17:19Speaker 2: being provoked by a guy who was a jerk. And
- 17:23Speaker 2: you know, if you've Benet's and you know, I'm not
- 17:25Speaker 2: going to say that nobody Wisconsin does the same thing.
- 17:27Speaker 2: The Packers play out in Arizona on Sunday, and the
- 17:30Speaker 2: stadium is going to be filled with Packer fans and
- 17:32Speaker 2: always is out there in Phoenix, and probably some Packer
- 17:34Speaker 2: fans are going to be jerks about the whole thing.
- 17:37Speaker 2: And people get hacked off. And you take the bak
- 17:40Speaker 2: and bait and get involved in a fight, you can
- 17:42Speaker 2: get it into some trouble. But if you say something
- 17:46Speaker 2: that has a racial connotation to it, that's the sin
- 17:48Speaker 2: that you just can't get past. If someone captures it
- 17:52Speaker 2: on video, that's the other thing. If he isn't videoing it,
- 17:54Speaker 2: he knows exactly what he's doing. I didn't say you
- 17:58Speaker 2: who knows nothing's going to come of it. It's because
- 18:01Speaker 2: it was slapped on YouTube and people see it. There
- 18:12Speaker 2: are certain times in which the obnoxious saying it is
- 18:15Speaker 2: what it is or appropriate end. This is one of
- 18:17Speaker 2: those cases where it's appropriate to say it is what
- 18:22Speaker 2: it is. We have some degree of progress on something
- 18:27Speaker 2: I've been advocating for a long time. The problem of
- 18:32Speaker 2: reckless driving in Milwaukee is one that liberals simply do
- 18:36Speaker 2: not understand or don't know what to do about it
- 18:40Speaker 2: because they're just stupid. Liberals. You can't fix the problem
- 18:45Speaker 2: by issuing more citations. You can't fix the problem by
- 18:48Speaker 2: putting bumpbut curves in the middle of the street. You
- 18:51Speaker 2: can't fix the problem by putting in red light cameras.
- 18:54Speaker 2: The overwhelming majority of the people that are driving like
- 18:57Speaker 2: this do not have driver's licenses, and many of them
- 19:00Speaker 2: have unregistered vehicles. What I have said forever is the
- 19:06Speaker 2: only way you stop this is to tow the vehicles.
- 19:11Speaker 2: The to loots in Milwaukee charge approximately thirty nine trillion
- 19:15Speaker 2: dollars to release your views. Actually in the just under
- 19:19Speaker 2: five hundred. It's way up there, which is greater than
- 19:22Speaker 2: most fines are. Furthermore, the people who don't have a
- 19:26Speaker 2: license have zero written sentive to pay their fine because
- 19:29Speaker 2: there's no punishment in Milwaukee for not paying your fines.
- 19:33Speaker 2: The Milwaukee County jail will not accept someone on a
- 19:36Speaker 2: traffic ward, So if you have unpaid tickets, the jail
- 19:40Speaker 2: won't accept you, meaning you don't you just don't have
- 19:42Speaker 2: to pay. But if your car is gone. The only
- 19:46Speaker 2: people that weren't aren't affected by that are people who
- 19:48Speaker 2: are driving a stolen car. There is a proposal advancing
- 19:54Speaker 2: in the legislature to now tow vehicles that are being
- 19:58Speaker 2: driven recklessly. My concern is is that evers is going
- 20:02Speaker 2: to be to it. But notwithstanding that, it doesn't go
- 20:08Speaker 2: far enough. It shouldn't just be driven recklessly. There are
- 20:12Speaker 2: some states in which you are driving without a license,
- 20:15Speaker 2: it is a mandatory toe. There are states in which
- 20:19Speaker 2: if you're driving drunk, it's a mandatory toe. And most states,
- 20:24Speaker 2: if the car is unregistered, it's a mandatory toe. It's
- 20:27Speaker 2: kind of thing to have any of that as being mandatory.
- 20:30Speaker 2: It's discretionary. If you start towing vehicles of anyone without
- 20:38Speaker 2: a license, which is most of the people driving recklessly
- 20:41Speaker 2: and any vehicle that is unregistered, I believe, as I've
- 20:45Speaker 2: said in the past, solved the problem. Now in this instance,
- 20:48Speaker 2: it allows them to tow if the individual is charged
- 20:52Speaker 2: with reckless driving, which is a degree of this. The
- 20:55Speaker 2: problem is most of the running of the red lights
- 20:57Speaker 2: never as charged as reckless and so on. Hopefully ever
- 21:04Speaker 2: signs it, but then even then it then requires the
- 21:07Speaker 2: Milwaukee Police Department, another police agency, used to make it
- 21:10Speaker 2: a matter of policy to do it. The fact that
- 21:12Speaker 2: you have the ability to do it doesn't mean that
- 21:14Speaker 2: they will do it and until you start hauling these
- 21:17Speaker 2: cars away and forcing these people to somehow come up
- 21:20Speaker 2: with the four hundred dollars. And by the way, they
- 21:22Speaker 2: aren't going to do it fifteen times unless they are
- 21:24Speaker 2: a drug dealer or something of which they have unlimited
- 21:26Speaker 2: income of towing the cars that would work. There is
- 21:29Speaker 2: a current law that allows towing unlimited circumstances. This is
- 21:32Speaker 2: how little it is used. I believe it's been implemented
- 21:34Speaker 2: once in the city of Milwaukee. Now, some of you
- 21:44Speaker 2: don't know why the Democrats don't intend to do anything
- 21:46Speaker 2: about the government shutdown this week? Do you know why
- 21:52Speaker 2: you do not? You don't even know what's going on
- 21:55Speaker 2: on Saturday. You don't have no clue. I don't know
- 22:03Speaker 2: how many riots there are going to be. Saturday is
- 22:05Speaker 2: No King's Day. They're going to have these things all
- 22:08Speaker 2: over the United States. They'll be marches, some might I
- 22:10Speaker 2: don't know if they'll end up throwing rocks or whatever.
- 22:13Speaker 2: No King's Day, which is they don't really know exactly
- 22:16Speaker 2: what it is that they're bitching about Trump, but the
- 22:17Speaker 2: idea somehow is that Trump is a king. I guess,
- 22:20Speaker 2: you know, bringing peace to the Middle East is something
- 22:23Speaker 2: they don't want their king to do or whatever. No
- 22:25Speaker 2: kings day. So the Democrats are under this overwhelming pressure
- 22:30Speaker 2: from their left to not cave at all. From the
- 22:33Speaker 2: perspective of the Republicans, the Democrats are being hurt worse
- 22:37Speaker 2: by checks that are being delayed for federal employees, so forth,
- 22:40Speaker 2: and so on. But the Democrats have not changed their demands,
- 22:45Speaker 2: and among them is that we have to once again
- 22:50Speaker 2: provide free health care for illegal immigrants. And the Republicans
- 22:55Speaker 2: aren't going to bite on that. Speaker Mike Johnson has
- 22:59Speaker 2: a spectacular quote on this. I want to read it.
- 23:04Speaker 2: We won't sell out the long term security and future
- 23:07Speaker 2: of the United States so that Chuck Schumer can prevent
- 23:11Speaker 2: a primary challenge from his left wing. We will not
- 23:14Speaker 2: be a part of that nonsense. For those of you unaware,
- 23:18Speaker 2: Schumer is the Senate Democratic leader, it is very likely
- 23:22Speaker 2: that he's going to face a Democratic Party challenge next
- 23:25Speaker 2: year in the primary. It's likely to be AOC. If
- 23:29Speaker 2: AOC wants to be at some point of the future president,
- 23:33Speaker 2: she has to prove electability. And the way you prove
- 23:36Speaker 2: electability is to be elected senator from the second or
- 23:39Speaker 2: third whatever it is now in population largest state in
- 23:41Speaker 2: the United States. So if you take down the scalp
- 23:44Speaker 2: of Schumer, that puts her right there with Newsom in
- 23:48Speaker 2: terms of the Democratic Party pecking outer. We all know
- 23:52Speaker 2: that AOC is to the left of Schumer. Schumer is
- 23:55Speaker 2: trying to protect himself against his left flank. So as
- 23:57Speaker 2: the Democratic leader, he's not going to do any thing
- 24:01Speaker 2: to fashion an end to the shutdown because the radicals
- 24:04Speaker 2: in the Democratic Party want the shutdown because they simply
- 24:08Speaker 2: can't abide the fact that Trump is president. So as
- 24:11Speaker 2: Mike Johnson saying, from the perspective of the Republican's, okay, fine,
- 24:14Speaker 2: you actually chilled it over that we're not going to
- 24:17Speaker 2: cave into you forever and ever and ever. The Democrats
- 24:24Speaker 2: have demanded. They made the same demand when they were
- 24:28Speaker 2: in charge and the Republicans had to pass the bills
- 24:31Speaker 2: of the Congress. Give us a clean bill. Give us
- 24:33Speaker 2: a clean bill. We believe there should be a clean bill.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Don't add any new policy. So the Republicans passed the
- 24:38Speaker 2: clean bill. It just continues funding of everything as it is,
- 24:41Speaker 2: and the Democrats won't go along with it. And the
- 24:43Speaker 2: reason they don't want to go along with it is
- 24:46Speaker 2: they're trying to come up with some possible way to
- 24:49Speaker 2: fight with Trump over something. Now time for me to
- 24:57Speaker 2: explain something. It is kind of remarkable to me that
- 25:01Speaker 2: for all these years there are people who still don't
- 25:03Speaker 2: understand Trump. I mean, I think Trump's the easiest guy
- 25:07Speaker 2: in the world to understand. And I summarized it years ago.
- 25:11Speaker 2: I came up with this, He's his own good cop
- 25:13Speaker 2: bad cop. People have flummoxed over what's going on with China,
- 25:19Speaker 2: and I swear, if you listen to Trump, you'd think
- 25:20Speaker 2: that Trump was schizophrenic. He's talking on both sides of
- 25:24Speaker 2: his vote. They're about to have this trade discussion with
- 25:27Speaker 2: g and the next thing you know, g imposes a
- 25:29Speaker 2: one hundred percent tariff on rare earth minimals. The problem
- 25:32Speaker 2: with this is is that almost all rare earth minimals
- 25:34Speaker 2: come from China. You can't have AI, you can't have
- 25:37Speaker 2: anything without rare earth minimals. So Trump cancels the visit
- 25:43Speaker 2: and slaps a massive tariff of about one hundred percent
- 25:45Speaker 2: on everything from China, says, I don't know what's going
- 25:49Speaker 2: on over there, and then like eight hours later, I
- 25:54Speaker 2: got a great relationship with g So you've got that
- 26:01Speaker 2: and the markets are reacting. Do we have a trade
- 26:02Speaker 2: war with China or not? Or is Trump caving into China?
- 26:05Speaker 2: What's he doing? And again, I just I'm sorry. I
- 26:09Speaker 2: don't know how you can't understand what he's doing. This
- 26:14Speaker 2: has been Trump's m O forever. I'll use another analogy
- 26:18Speaker 2: for you. Do you remember Bobby Knight or is this
- 26:20Speaker 2: now all too dated for some of you that aren't
- 26:22Speaker 2: old enough. You remember Bobby Knight? Yeah? See that People
- 26:26Speaker 2: bring up the chair. It's like it was the only
- 26:28Speaker 2: thing he ever did. Bobby Knight baited referees. You want
- 26:38Speaker 2: a good YouTube reference, check out the Bobby Knight Ted
- 26:41Speaker 2: Valentine day. I was at the Miami Duke basketball game
- 26:44Speaker 2: in Miami this one. Ted Valentine was officiating. My jaw dropped.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I can't believe he's still refereeing. I mean, Bobby Knight
- 26:51Speaker 2: and Ted Valentine had their run in about thirty five
- 26:54Speaker 2: or forty years. I can't I don't know. Ted Valentine
- 26:56Speaker 2: must be one hundred and seventy five years old. He's
- 26:58Speaker 2: the most famous college basketball referee ever and always the
- 27:01Speaker 2: most controversial anyway, Ted Valentine would be the Bobby Knight
- 27:05Speaker 2: of referees, equally hot head and equally stuppern and the
- 27:08Speaker 2: two of them went at it, and it was just
- 27:09Speaker 2: anyway Bobby Knight worked the referees. He would berate them
- 27:15Speaker 2: and intimidate them in an attempt to get him to
- 27:18Speaker 2: give them the next call. That's all Trump does. The difference, though,
- 27:24Speaker 2: is the one thing Bobby Knight lacked in this is
- 27:26Speaker 2: that he didn't have the charm to do. The good
- 27:29Speaker 2: cop Knight would have been more effective, and a lot
- 27:34Speaker 2: of referees didn't want to give bobbyknit a call. Ever,
- 27:36Speaker 2: sometimes he did indeed intimidate them, but if you know,
- 27:39Speaker 2: push came to shove, they were going to screw him
- 27:41Speaker 2: because he was such a dank to them. Trump does both.
- 27:47Speaker 2: He kisses the rear end of these tyrants and then
- 27:49Speaker 2: in the next breath rips on them. He plays them
- 27:52Speaker 2: both ways. It's his style and it's incredibly effective. Look
- 27:59Speaker 2: what this I did. He got Net and Yahoo and
- 28:03Speaker 2: Harmas to both Buckle by both sweet talking Net and
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yahoo and then kicking him in the udo. What when
- 28:13Speaker 2: he continued to bomb Gaza after Trump told him not to,
- 28:17Speaker 2: and he did the same thing with Hamas. Likewise, you
- 28:22Speaker 2: don't hear Trump complaining at all. Then Hamas is still
- 28:25Speaker 2: out there on the street killing people, by the way,
- 28:27Speaker 2: and you don't hear anybody on the left objecting to this.
- 28:30Speaker 2: The people that Hamas is killing are Palestidians. There are
- 28:34Speaker 2: Palestinian militias, maybe better known as just gangs that see
- 28:38Speaker 2: this vacuum. Hamas is so beaten up that they're looking
- 28:41Speaker 2: to take over neighborhoods in Gaza, and Hamas doesn't want
- 28:44Speaker 2: that to happen, so they're grabbing these people and they're
- 28:46Speaker 2: shooting him in the head in the street. It's just
- 28:49Speaker 2: Palestinians killing Palestidians. It's Hamas trying to keep control of
- 28:53Speaker 2: Gaza by going after the non Hamas residence of Gaza.
- 28:59Speaker 2: As far as Trump concerned, this is not an international matter.
- 29:01Speaker 2: It's a matter of you know, what the people of
- 29:03Speaker 2: Gaza want. And the people of Gaza dug their own
- 29:06Speaker 2: grave when they empowered the monster from Hamas to rule
- 29:09Speaker 2: their area. And if they don't like it, they can
- 29:11Speaker 2: join these gangs and try to kill the leaders of
- 29:13Speaker 2: Hamas and get a different type of leadership in because
- 29:15Speaker 2: Hamas is never going to call another election there and
- 29:18Speaker 2: any of it. My point is is that Trump's not
- 29:20Speaker 2: gonna bitch about that because it's not Israel doing. It's
- 29:22Speaker 2: not an inertial thing, it's an internal Gaza thing. The
- 29:24Speaker 2: larger thing is is Israel killing members of Hamasa. They're
- 29:30Speaker 2: going in and bomba. No they're not, and have the
- 29:33Speaker 2: hostage has been released, Yes, we'll it hold. I don't know.
- 29:36Speaker 2: What I do know is that Trump, in this style
- 29:38Speaker 2: that he has, has managed to work this to the
- 29:40Speaker 2: level of success. And it just it kind of stuns
- 29:43Speaker 2: me that people never get what his mo O is,
- 29:47Speaker 2: even though it's just so obvious what his m O is.
- 29:53Speaker 2: You're listening to the Markdelling podcast. This is the Mark
- 29:59Speaker 2: Belling podcast Time Front Update. There's been this story that's
- 30:04Speaker 2: developed over the last several days over the refusal of
- 30:09Speaker 2: a local charter school, and we have to keep explaining
- 30:12Speaker 2: a charter school is a public school. It's not run
- 30:16Speaker 2: by public school systems, but it is a public school.
- 30:20Speaker 2: It's a government school. They have to follow all the
- 30:22Speaker 2: rules of public schools follow and all of their actions
- 30:25Speaker 2: have to be public. They're subject to the open records
- 30:27Speaker 2: law of the open meetings law and so on, but
- 30:29Speaker 2: they're not run by local school boards. This particular school
- 30:33Speaker 2: was chartered in Waukashaw County by the La Courre Tribe
- 30:37Speaker 2: of Northern Wisconsin. The reauthorization of the charter was done
- 30:42Speaker 2: by Waukashaw County, so Waukeshaw County Executive Paul Farrell is
- 30:47Speaker 2: essentially the charterer now currently of the school. He's the
- 30:51Speaker 2: government body. They have their own board. It's called the
- 30:54Speaker 2: Lake Country Classical Academy. From the beginning, they affiliated with
- 30:58Speaker 2: Hillsdale College, which is a very prominent conservative college in
- 31:01Speaker 2: Michigan that has developed a K through twelve curriculum that
- 31:05Speaker 2: basically says, we're everything that the stink bomb public schools aren't.
- 31:12Speaker 2: The board of directors is filled with Scott Walker types
- 31:15Speaker 2: and so on, and they've marketed themselves as a conservative institution.
- 31:21Speaker 2: A student, and by the way, she's going places anybody
- 31:27Speaker 2: willing to stand up to the leadership of her own school,
- 31:30Speaker 2: particularly when that leadership of that school is arrogant and unaccountable.
- 31:39Speaker 2: You get my credit there. It's real easy for a
- 31:41Speaker 2: lefty to stand up because everybody cheer leads her a
- 31:43Speaker 2: lot her name is Katie Smiley. She wants to start
- 31:47Speaker 2: a Turning Point chapter at her school. If you haven't
- 31:50Speaker 2: been paying any of dif first of all, to have
- 31:52Speaker 2: to explain to people the Turning Point is Charlie Kirk's group.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I just did so, therefore I don't have to do
- 31:57Speaker 2: it again. Since Early's assassination, young people across the country
- 32:03Speaker 2: have been just hell bent to see that his movement
- 32:07Speaker 2: doesn't die with him. Turning Point had lots of chapters
- 32:11Speaker 2: at schools and colleges before his assassination, but it has
- 32:14Speaker 2: more than double sense. And Katie Smiley tried to get
- 32:18Speaker 2: a Turning Point chapter at Lake Country Classical Academy and
- 32:23Speaker 2: has been obstructed. They rejected her application. The principal of
- 32:28Speaker 2: the school is a woman named Margaret Hagador. She is
- 32:31Speaker 2: the wife of Brian Hagaror in State Supreme Court Justice.
- 32:34Speaker 2: There's a board of directors. As I said at the school,
- 32:39Speaker 2: Turning Point drew attention to the fact that the charter
- 32:42Speaker 2: was rejected. There has been massive criticism now across the
- 32:47Speaker 2: country nationally at this school. There has been some attempt
- 32:56Speaker 2: by some members of the board to try to facilitate
- 33:00Speaker 2: a solution to this but as we speak right now,
- 33:04Speaker 2: it appears to me that they're getting not nowhere, but
- 33:07Speaker 2: virtually nowhere. The principal of the Cool Schools announced what
- 33:11Speaker 2: she said was a compromise. She said, we're going to
- 33:13Speaker 2: have a civics club. Well, whoopdie do. It's not a
- 33:17Speaker 2: turning point chapter, and the civics club would share many
- 33:20Speaker 2: of the same goals as turning point Again, whoopdie do.
- 33:26Speaker 2: A civics club administered by the school is not the
- 33:28Speaker 2: same as a turning point chapter, which embodies the ideals
- 33:32Speaker 2: that Charlie Kirk and his organization stand for. They had
- 33:36Speaker 2: a meeting of the board of directors last night. It
- 33:38Speaker 2: was covered by something Wisconsin right Now dot Com was
- 33:41Speaker 2: there and they reported on it, and they reported that
- 33:43Speaker 2: a number of the members of the board and the principal,
- 33:46Speaker 2: Margaret hagendor and basically lashed out at the people who
- 33:48Speaker 2: have been criticizing them. In particular, they said that we
- 33:53Speaker 2: need more communication, not conflict. Well, I want to comment
- 33:58Speaker 2: on that for a moment. That school has not responded
- 34:02Speaker 2: prior to five to twelve today to me at all.
- 34:08Speaker 2: If you want communication, start answering questions beyond that you
- 34:14Speaker 2: are a public school, you are accountable in the same
- 34:17Speaker 2: way that the Elmbrook School District is accountable. You're a
- 34:20Speaker 2: chartered school, but a public school. Just because you say
- 34:28Speaker 2: you have a rule, does it mean that others don't
- 34:31Speaker 2: have a right to criticize that rule. Secondly, when your
- 34:36Speaker 2: school is established by sucking up to conservatives for money
- 34:39Speaker 2: and getting endorsements of people like me, and then turning
- 34:42Speaker 2: around and telling us to shut up and leave us
- 34:45Speaker 2: alone as we drift off into moderate education, stinkfill. There's
- 34:49Speaker 2: nothing wrong with us reacting and giving you blowback. Don't
- 34:54Speaker 2: ask for your money. If you intend to be one
- 34:56Speaker 2: more leaning left kind of private type of school, well
- 35:02Speaker 2: you masquerade as something else. As I've said from the beginning,
- 35:07Speaker 2: there is a way to work through this. There always is, Sir,
- 35:11Speaker 2: Are you saying that we shouldn't follow the rules. That's
- 35:13Speaker 2: not a conservative thing. I've said my entire career that
- 35:16Speaker 2: following the rules is never your number one priority. Doing
- 35:19Speaker 2: the right thing is the number one priority. If the
- 35:21Speaker 2: rule is stupid, work your way through the rule. Learn
- 35:24Speaker 2: from the NFL on this. They change the rules thirty
- 35:26Speaker 2: eight times during the season. NASCAR changes the rules in
- 35:29Speaker 2: the middle of a race. The easiest thing to do
- 35:32Speaker 2: here is, as I've said, tell the kids they can
- 35:35Speaker 2: have a Turning Point chapter. They can use a school
- 35:38Speaker 2: room after school to do it. They can even use
- 35:43Speaker 2: an email. But it's independent. It's your thing, but you
- 35:48Speaker 2: simply use it. The example I used on an earlier
- 35:50Speaker 2: podcast is like sometimes you'll see a boy Scout troup
- 35:53Speaker 2: meeting a school or other kinds of groups. In other words,
- 35:57Speaker 2: allow them to work within the confines of the school
- 35:59Speaker 2: without being an official part of the school apparatus. Be it,
- 36:03Speaker 2: but be an organization that works within the school. It's semantics.
- 36:08Speaker 2: It would make everybody happy. It would allow Turning Point
- 36:12Speaker 2: that gets to call itself Turning Point have a chapter
- 36:15Speaker 2: at that school without being part of the school. It's
- 36:19Speaker 2: a way of nitpicking yourself to a solution. But they
- 36:23Speaker 2: haven't done that. And the reason that they don't want
- 36:24Speaker 2: to do that is I think there are some people
- 36:28Speaker 2: there who don't like the whole idea of Turning Point
- 36:30Speaker 2: and the fact that it's conservative. Again, you set yourself
- 36:33Speaker 2: up by affiliating with Hillsdale to be conservative. Margaret Hagendoron
- 36:40Speaker 2: did get back to me via email this afternoon saying
- 36:43Speaker 2: she doesn't understand why I'm saying she didn't communicate, And
- 36:45Speaker 2: I said, well, I left you a voice fail message
- 36:47Speaker 2: days ago, you never responded, and she said, I sent
- 36:49Speaker 2: you a statement. That's true. She sent out the same
- 36:51Speaker 2: statement that they sent to parents. It doesn't answer my questions.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I had numerous questions. So they're the board meeting last
- 36:59Speaker 2: night and then so like many people are very happy
- 37:02Speaker 2: about it. Got a quote here for this is on
- 37:05Speaker 2: Wisconsin right now from Katie Smile. He's a student. She
- 37:09Speaker 2: and her mother have been adamantly fighting for this, and
- 37:12Speaker 2: they are our heroes here. They're standing up to the
- 37:15Speaker 2: bullies within the school and some within the schools, and
- 37:18Speaker 2: they keep saying, this is doing great damage to our school. Well,
- 37:21Speaker 2: who's doing the great damage. You're the ones that said
- 37:23Speaker 2: turning point can't come in, which pisses off a lot
- 37:27Speaker 2: of us. We have a right to be hacked off
- 37:30Speaker 2: of you do something. If you did something, if you
- 37:32Speaker 2: decided to paint the school pink, we have a right
- 37:34Speaker 2: to be hacked off about that. You never seen a
- 37:38Speaker 2: pink school? If you ever have you ever seen a
- 37:41Speaker 2: pink school? There might be one. There might be one
- 37:44Speaker 2: somewhere of it. You don't see many pink structures that
- 37:47Speaker 2: really of anything. There's just all I just wasn't a
- 37:51Speaker 2: John Mellencamp little pink houses?
- 37:52Speaker 4: Was it?
- 37:53Speaker 3: That?
- 37:53Speaker 2: Him going on about that? Well? Where does he claim
- 37:55Speaker 2: these pink coases actually are? Is Indiana? They have pink houses?
- 37:59Speaker 4: There?
- 37:59Speaker 2: Is that what he's talking about in there? He apparently
- 38:02Speaker 2: has become a really cranky liberal he stormed off stage recently.
- 38:06Speaker 2: I mean, he must be one of these guys where
- 38:08Speaker 2: the pot just is wearing off on him and he's
- 38:10Speaker 2: in pain or something. Yeah, I mean he's just like
- 38:13Speaker 2: a crabby, mean old man. I digress, but I've spent
- 38:18Speaker 2: a career digressing. As I said on a quote a
- 38:23Speaker 2: couple of portions from Wisconsin right now story, I'll get
- 38:26Speaker 2: to Katie Smiley's comment. This is from Wisconsin right now.
- 38:30Speaker 2: They quote Brett Galashwski. He's the head of Turning Points
- 38:33Speaker 2: Chapters Organization. With my ask is Charlie's ask. The board
- 38:37Speaker 2: can make this happen and see Charlie's dream come through.
- 38:40Speaker 2: It's not a lot to ask, added Galashowski, a seventeen
- 38:44Speaker 2: year old stuent Nam. Katie Smiley wants to create the
- 38:46Speaker 2: Turning Point Club at the conservative school, Principal Margaret Hagutt
- 38:49Speaker 2: and the wife of State Supreme Court Justice Brian Hagut,
- 38:51Speaker 2: has rejected that request that announced she is creating a
- 38:54Speaker 2: generic civics club instead. Katie told Wisconsin Right Now that
- 38:59Speaker 2: she wants to start a Turning Point Club to help
- 39:02Speaker 2: her school thrive because she loves it so much. So,
- 39:04Speaker 2: in other words, this is somebody who likes her school
- 39:06Speaker 2: and realizes, unlike Hagadorn, that the school benefits from having
- 39:11Speaker 2: something like this, so I can clearly identify itself with
- 39:14Speaker 2: the principles of Charlie Kirk and not the principles of
- 39:18Speaker 2: all the crap that's screwing up education in America, which,
- 39:21Speaker 2: by the way, is the thing that makes Hillsdale itself
- 39:24Speaker 2: stand out. And they're the ones that claim they're Hillsdale affiliated.
- 39:28Speaker 2: The board it included a draft letter in its meeting
- 39:30Speaker 2: packet that would inform parents its policies were being revised
- 39:33Speaker 2: and would likely accommodate a Turning Point Club after Hugh
- 39:36Speaker 2: and cry resulted, but the board on Wednesday night scrap
- 39:39Speaker 2: that draft letter, and the board appears to be going
- 39:41Speaker 2: along with the Civics club, but what that will be
- 39:45Speaker 2: is very confusing to smiling her mom and other parents
- 39:47Speaker 2: who spoke after the meeting. Now, I spoke to Ellen Noak,
- 39:50Speaker 2: this is me no and not the story. I spoke
- 39:51Speaker 2: to Ellanoak, a board member, and she told me on Monday,
- 39:54Speaker 2: give us time and until Monday Wednesday, and we should
- 39:57Speaker 2: be able to work this out. They're not working it out.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Isn't going to be a Turning Point chapter affiliated independently
- 40:02Speaker 2: or not. There's instead going to be a Civics club
- 40:04Speaker 2: because this school and some of my guests, the lefty
- 40:08Speaker 2: parents who are sending their kids in there, because the
- 40:10Speaker 2: lefty parents realize the public schools also suck, don't want
- 40:14Speaker 2: anything to do with Charlie Kirk or Turning Point. So yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 2: if there's damage downe to the school, I say, good
- 40:22Speaker 2: fix the school. And if the problem is is that
- 40:25Speaker 2: you've got Haggard Ori in here who isn't willing to
- 40:29Speaker 2: do what many of us and many of the supporters
- 40:33Speaker 2: want to do, sobay it. And as for the board
- 40:37Speaker 2: of directors, stop expecting people like me to tell people
- 40:41Speaker 2: to support the school, and stop expecting people like me
- 40:43Speaker 2: to talk about the incredible movement of private and charter
- 40:46Speaker 2: schools we're seeing in southeastern Wisconsin that have formed and
- 40:49Speaker 2: rebellion to the general crap the public schools are producing.
- 40:55Speaker 2: The meeting was basically a ran session by Principal Margaret
- 40:58Speaker 2: Hangout and again, this is Wisconsin right now. I was
- 41:00Speaker 2: not there. The meeting is, however, on YouTube and some
- 41:03Speaker 2: board members against critics, at least the part that dealt
- 41:05Speaker 2: with the club issue. Some of the board members and
- 41:07Speaker 2: the principle went on a wholesale rant saying they have
- 41:09Speaker 2: been mistreated, lied about, and criticized. All right, if this
- 41:13Speaker 2: is a reference to me, I want to know one
- 41:15Speaker 2: thing I said that was a lie. Again, I'm working
- 41:19Speaker 2: with a lack of information because no one from that
- 41:22Speaker 2: board has forthcomingly come out and laid out and answered questions.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I have hit them with a big open records request
- 41:30Speaker 2: that I'm sure they're going to try to weasel around
- 41:33Speaker 2: and not have to deal with, none of which would
- 41:35Speaker 2: have been necessary if they would have been transparent in
- 41:37Speaker 2: the first place. About the whole thing. If your whole
- 41:40Speaker 2: thing is we don't want to have anything to do
- 41:41Speaker 2: with Charlie Kirk and turning point because we want control
- 41:44Speaker 2: of things that we don't want any say. So it admitted,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and we'll all know that your school is just another
- 41:49Speaker 2: piece of crab school out there that doesn't get consider
- 41:52Speaker 2: conservative ideology or the principles of Turning Point to be
- 41:54Speaker 2: worth anything. Which is I suspect what the whole problem
- 41:58Speaker 2: here is, but they don't want to say. And if
- 42:01Speaker 2: it isn't the whole problem here, establish a chapter and
- 42:04Speaker 2: figure out a way to do it. They basically planted
- 42:09Speaker 2: themselves as the victims of critics. This is again Jessic
- 42:12Speaker 2: McBride of Wisconsin Right Now reporting without giving specifics on
- 42:15Speaker 2: the supposed misinformation. They called for people to have conversations
- 42:19Speaker 2: rather than communicating online. Katie's quest to start the Turning
- 42:23Speaker 2: Point Club has gone viral, with many people offering her
- 42:27Speaker 2: support on social media and criticize the school's decision, although
- 42:30Speaker 2: there is some disagreement among parents about the direction the
- 42:33Speaker 2: school should take. Well, if that's the case, let the
- 42:35Speaker 2: parents who want to have a lefty school, who have
- 42:38Speaker 2: their lefty school, but take Hillsdale's name off of it,
- 42:40Speaker 2: and stop trying to apply to people that you're conservative
- 42:42Speaker 2: by putting Hillsdale's name on it. You are screaming we
- 42:45Speaker 2: are conservative school. If you're not, then stop killing everybody
- 42:50Speaker 2: you are. However, Hagadorn did not ask answer two requests
- 42:56Speaker 2: for comment by email and voicemail, at least to Wisconsin
- 42:59Speaker 2: right now before our stories ran and Melissa Smiley, the
- 43:02Speaker 2: mom of Katie Smiley, the teen who wants to start
- 43:04Speaker 2: the Turning Point club at the school, alleges that Margaret
- 43:07Speaker 2: Falseley told Fox News that she had spoken to Katie
- 43:09Speaker 2: and her mom about the club. They said she did not.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Haggard Wold alleged that she had been the victim of
- 43:14Speaker 2: a public media campaign to attack me personally, lie about me,
- 43:18Speaker 2: and destroy my reputation. Again, if that's a reference to
- 43:21Speaker 2: me or anything that I've said, I want to know
- 43:22Speaker 2: what it was. What is it? She has every right
- 43:29Speaker 2: to run a school and say no to Turning Point,
- 43:32Speaker 2: and anybody who doesn't like that has every right to
- 43:34Speaker 2: point out that you called yourself conservative when you started it,
- 43:37Speaker 2: and there are zillions of lefty schools across the country
- 43:42Speaker 2: that have allowed Turning Point. Thirdly, you're a public school.
- 43:45Speaker 2: You may be a charter school, correct, it's a hybrid,
- 43:48Speaker 2: but your public school anyway, we have rules against outside organizations.
- 43:53Speaker 2: I know where they have those rules. It's to stop
- 43:54Speaker 2: every kind of lefty LGBTQ plus club at all of that.
- 43:58Speaker 2: So you figure out a way to work within the
- 44:00Speaker 2: confines of this. It's just all I've suggested. Another board
- 44:05Speaker 2: member called the criticism disturbing and disappointing, and official said
- 44:11Speaker 2: school leaders were tried and convicted. By the way, the
- 44:14Speaker 2: only board member that spoke to me was Illadoak. None
- 44:18Speaker 2: others even reached out to me. So I don't know
- 44:23Speaker 2: what their problem is other than they don't think that
- 44:27Speaker 2: they should be subject to any kind of criticism, even
- 44:30Speaker 2: though anybody with half a brain or a sense of
- 44:33Speaker 2: public relations would have understood that there is a mission
- 44:36Speaker 2: among many conservative young people in America to keep Charlie
- 44:39Speaker 2: Kirk's vision alive, and they trying to snuff it out
- 44:43Speaker 2: at this school, a school that purports to be conservative.
- 44:45Speaker 2: If you don't think that's going to create a backlash,
- 44:48Speaker 2: it means you're blinded by your own leftyism. I did,
- 44:52Speaker 2: by the way, speak via email to Scott Walker, former governor.
- 44:56Speaker 2: He is listed as an honorary member of the board.
- 45:00Speaker 2: As said allowed and in print that there should be
- 45:04Speaker 2: a chapter for Turning Point. There just that there should
- 45:06Speaker 2: be a chapter for his organization, Young America's the Young
- 45:10Speaker 2: America's Foundation, which is another conservative organization at these schools
- 45:14Speaker 2: if they want them. No, he's an honorary board member.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I don't know if he has any particular poll here.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I think it would help if he and other conservatives
- 45:23Speaker 2: slam this school even harder so they buckle. We all
- 45:27Speaker 2: know the kind of pressure that comes to the left,
- 45:30Speaker 2: and I think we can kind of suspect the pressure
- 45:32Speaker 2: and where it is coming from here and why it
- 45:34Speaker 2: is that they don't want to do this. As for
- 45:37Speaker 2: Hillsdale itself, if Hillsdale is going to charter schools and
- 45:40Speaker 2: then say that those schools can't have anything to do
- 45:42Speaker 2: with Turning Point, then Hillsdale needs to reconsider its mission
- 45:47Speaker 2: as well. The students got far less mention on the
- 45:50Speaker 2: draft letter. The board decided to bypass that item on
- 45:52Speaker 2: the agenda because the situation has changed, and scrapped it
- 45:55Speaker 2: for the aforementioned but ill divined vague Civics club. Can
- 45:58Speaker 2: you imagine this civics club? Can you just imagine the
- 46:01Speaker 2: civics club that they have? Can you just imagine the
- 46:04Speaker 2: civics club turning point isn't a civics club. It's an
- 46:11Speaker 2: advocacy organization. And that's the thing they have a problem
- 46:15Speaker 2: with because of what they advocate. And that's the entire
- 46:18Speaker 2: problem here. If you are uncomfortable with a conservative organization
- 46:23Speaker 2: as an advocacy group having a club or a chapter
- 46:26Speaker 2: at the school, it's because you're not conservative. So don't
- 46:30Speaker 2: say you are, and just admit you're not. Admit you're.
- 46:34Speaker 2: One more thing. I keep going on about this conservative
- 46:36Speaker 2: drift of organizations, and this just screams out to me
- 46:40Speaker 2: as being among them. I want to get to the
- 46:45Speaker 2: quote from your one parent. Andrea Hayes slammed the administration.
- 46:56Speaker 2: She said she took her kids out of the school
- 46:58Speaker 2: even though she loves its mission and wants to thrive.
- 47:00Speaker 2: She accused Margaret that's Margaret Hagadorn of disbanding a previous
- 47:04Speaker 2: civics club that was popular with students and parents without
- 47:06Speaker 2: proper communication. She said the past civics club was ended
- 47:10Speaker 2: abruptly by administration without ever, without even basic respect or
- 47:14Speaker 2: any conversation. She said other in house clubs were systematically
- 47:17Speaker 2: disbanded and alleged that there is a pattern of dismissive
- 47:20Speaker 2: or controlling behavior that is on full repeat right now.
- 47:24Speaker 2: She said. It is not one issue, but rather a
- 47:26Speaker 2: pattern of control at all costs that extends back years,
- 47:29Speaker 2: not the past five days. Another parent precis Zundel I
- 47:34Speaker 2: hope I proNT that correctly. Where's concerns about declines in
- 47:37Speaker 2: enrollment and limited extracurricular offerings. He said, some parents are
- 47:41Speaker 2: talking about whether they will keep their kids here. It's
- 47:44Speaker 2: not because they don't believe in the school's mission. They
- 47:46Speaker 2: fervently do. They're worried about extracurricular and leadership opportunities for kids.
- 47:51Speaker 2: They don't want kids to have to choose between college
- 47:53Speaker 2: opportunities and a classical education. Both parents and others afterwards
- 47:58Speaker 2: of the Turning Point Club is not the entire issue.
- 48:00Speaker 2: It's not about the past five days that the board
- 48:02Speaker 2: and Margaret Hagarin focused on, but rather systemic pattern of
- 48:06Speaker 2: long standing concerns about the leadership of a school they love.
- 48:09Speaker 2: They also express confusion afterwards about what the new Civics
- 48:12Speaker 2: Club is supposed to entail and to what degree, if any,
- 48:16Speaker 2: it will follow Turning Point materials or mission. Afterwards, Katie
- 48:20Speaker 2: Smiley that's the seventeen year old girl that I think
- 48:23Speaker 2: is heroic Curan standing up, don't you? We're all for
- 48:28Speaker 2: We had a couple of others. This goes back a
- 48:30Speaker 2: long ways of young people from Maria stood up in things,
- 48:33Speaker 2: and now I see them being interviewed on Megan Kelly's podcast,
- 48:36Speaker 2: running organizations and so on. I take full credit for this.
- 48:42Speaker 2: I think I've helped them part backbone in them, don't you.
- 48:45Speaker 2: I am part of it exactly. Yeah, that's well turning
- 48:48Speaker 2: punt to be part of the Civics to her anyway.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Katie Smiley told wr in that Wisconsin Right Now that
- 48:54Speaker 2: she believes keeping Charlie Kirk in the club will have
- 48:58Speaker 2: more meaning and emotional impact on students than just the
- 49:01Speaker 2: generic Civics club. I think that's why they're against it.
- 49:04Speaker 2: She stressed that she loves her school and is just
- 49:07Speaker 2: trying to build it. She will be featured on Fox
- 49:10Speaker 2: and Friends tomorrow, but said if administrators are going to
- 49:13Speaker 2: die on this hill, she will try to work within
- 49:16Speaker 2: they're required. You see what they've managed to do. Now
- 49:20Speaker 2: they've managed to put this kid on Fox and Friends
- 49:22Speaker 2: and have all of this. You think somebody would teach
- 49:25Speaker 2: them a little bit of crisis manage. It wouldn't you.
- 49:28Speaker 2: If anybody's ended up damaging it's them. Let them have
- 49:33Speaker 2: their damn club and just figure out a way to
- 49:35Speaker 2: do it within the context of not having to allow
- 49:37Speaker 2: every other stupid lefty club to come in. If you
- 49:40Speaker 2: can't figure out how to do that, don't start at
- 49:42Speaker 2: school and claim your conservative and I part of this
- 49:45Speaker 2: goes back to the whole notion of making this a
- 49:47Speaker 2: charter school and not simply an outright private school. There
- 49:50Speaker 2: are advantages financially to being a charter school, and one
- 49:55Speaker 2: of the downsides of it for them is it also
- 49:58Speaker 2: now means that they're subject to scrutiny because a charter
- 50:00Speaker 2: school is a government operation, even though it may be
- 50:03Speaker 2: privately run. It is a quasi government operation, and they're
- 50:06Speaker 2: accountable to anybody who wants to shoot off their big mouth,
- 50:12Speaker 2: including me with my big mouth. I want to move
- 50:17Speaker 2: to another topic here quickly. By the way, we have
- 50:19Speaker 2: a quote of the day that I'm going to share.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Let me get to this first. Barton swam Wall Street Journal,
- 50:25Speaker 2: The Wall Street Journalist not they're barely conservative anymore. On
- 50:28Speaker 2: the editorial page and they're not pro Trump, but occasionally
- 50:32Speaker 2: some of the people who don't much like Trump will
- 50:34Speaker 2: write a piece that at least explains it. And Barton
- 50:37Speaker 2: Swain's point here is, for all this lefty stuff that
- 50:40Speaker 2: Trump is an attack on democracy. In fact, Trump personifies democracy.
- 50:47Speaker 2: I don't think you can find a more pro democracy
- 50:49Speaker 2: figure in America than Donald Trump. A. He's premised his
- 50:53Speaker 2: policies on things that people want. B. He was elected
- 50:56Speaker 2: by a majority vote of the popular vote and the
- 51:00Speaker 2: Electoral College. So anyway, Barton Swain rights, you could make
- 51:04Speaker 2: a reasonable You could make a reasonable case. The democrats
- 51:07Speaker 2: present woes stem from the misuse of a single word.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Their manic, unthinking resistance to everything President Trump says or
- 51:15Speaker 2: does has its origins in their failure to know what
- 51:18Speaker 2: they mean by democracy. In the fall of twenty fifteen,
- 51:21Speaker 2: democrats in the media settled on the claim that Trump's
- 51:24Speaker 2: unlikely candidacy was an attack on democracy or a threat
- 51:27Speaker 2: to democracy. The phrase fizzled after he won with a
- 51:30Speaker 2: plurality of the popular vote in twenty twenty four, but
- 51:33Speaker 2: Trump's bitterest enemies have never managed to doubt the postulate
- 51:39Speaker 2: that he menaces the American form of government that might
- 51:42Speaker 2: have spared themselves a decade of angst, or at least
- 51:45Speaker 2: found a better way to oppose him if they had
- 51:48Speaker 2: recalled that America's founders disliked democracy, just that That's one
- 51:53Speaker 2: of the things people just did not understand about the
- 51:55Speaker 2: founding fathers. They were not fans of democracy. They created
- 51:58Speaker 2: a republic. We have morphed into a republic whose leaders
- 52:02Speaker 2: are chosen via democracy. People give debinton, are we republic
- 52:08Speaker 2: or a democracy? We're republic. We're republic, though that is
- 52:11Speaker 2: governed via democracy. Back to the point, they might have
- 52:14Speaker 2: spared themselves a decative answers to a republic too given
- 52:19Speaker 2: to democracy they thought would allow big personalities to leverage
- 52:24Speaker 2: the public's irascibility against established order. James Madison memorably concluded
- 52:29Speaker 2: in Federalists Number ten that democracies ever have ever been
- 52:33Speaker 2: spectacles of turbulence and contention. The American polity long ago
- 52:38Speaker 2: decided to take that worry less seriously than the founders did.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Popular elections, not machine bosses, and legislatures choose party nominees
- 52:47Speaker 2: and US senators. Progressives of an earlier gave us these
- 52:51Speaker 2: and other democratic reforms when their political descendants, today's liberals
- 52:56Speaker 2: and progressives gnashed their teeth over Trump. The unknowingly can
- 53:01Speaker 2: see that the founders had a point. His point here
- 53:04Speaker 2: is that these lefties they're not defending democracy. They're opposing democracy.
- 53:10Speaker 2: They're opposing the fact that Trump was democratically elected. So
- 53:14Speaker 2: they went they're using the wrong word here because democracy
- 53:17Speaker 2: sounds popular. But they're clearly trying to object to the
- 53:20Speaker 2: notion of democracy, and object to the notion that the
- 53:24Speaker 2: public gets to decide things and not experts. This at
- 53:26Speaker 2: anyway back to the peace. A decade after his entry
- 53:30Speaker 2: into politics, Trump's enemies still make no attempt to distinguish
- 53:33Speaker 2: between his own popularity or lack of it, and that
- 53:37Speaker 2: of the objectives to which he applies his energy. Most Americans,
- 53:41Speaker 2: the number hovers around fifty five percent, disapprove of Trump
- 53:44Speaker 2: and don't like the way he goes about things. It
- 53:47Speaker 2: doesn't follow that majorities think he's wrong about those things.
- 53:51Speaker 2: The opposite is nearer the truth. On nearly all his
- 53:54Speaker 2: big ticket items, the president's attitude fully accords with that
- 53:57Speaker 2: of the public. Trump's war on elite universities has occasioned
- 54:01Speaker 2: cogent criticisms, some made by this newspaper's editorial board. But
- 54:06Speaker 2: ignore Trump and his tactics and ask yourself how many
- 54:09Speaker 2: Americans think the country's fanciest schools are an unmitigated blessing
- 54:14Speaker 2: and don't deserve some rough treatment for turning generations of
- 54:17Speaker 2: young minds into oatmeal. By the way, this goes back,
- 54:21Speaker 2: I think to the whole point of Lake Countie Classical,
- 54:25Speaker 2: Lake Country Classical Academy and the attempt to not be
- 54:29Speaker 2: that type of an institution, and the type of institution
- 54:32Speaker 2: that instead Foster's thought and dialogue, the kind the turning
- 54:36Speaker 2: point was pressing for rather than the kind of top
- 54:38Speaker 2: down and this is a Civics class that I'm going
- 54:40Speaker 2: to give you, according to the Gospel of Margaret Hagador. Anyway,
- 54:44Speaker 2: back to the piece, the compact his administration wants universities
- 54:48Speaker 2: to sign would get an eager thumbs up from I
- 54:50Speaker 2: would guess ninety percent of the public. This document, if agreed,
- 54:56Speaker 2: would obligate universities to foreswear in consideration of rap and sex,
- 55:00Speaker 2: and admissions cap the number of foreign students they accept,
- 55:03Speaker 2: freeze tuition for five years, use standardized test scores at admissions,
- 55:07Speaker 2: and foster viewpoint diversity problems may lurk in the details,
- 55:10Speaker 2: but the aims are controversial only to people need to
- 55:13Speaker 2: get out, only to people who need to get out
- 55:16Speaker 2: more that ice or immigration to customs enforcement pushes the
- 55:20Speaker 2: bounds of legal gality in its no knock roundups is
- 55:23Speaker 2: pretty obvious, but Democrats align themselves with a tiny minority
- 55:27Speaker 2: when they with their denunciations of Trump, make them sound
- 55:31Speaker 2: as if they think illegal aliens have the right to
- 55:34Speaker 2: live and work in the United States as long as
- 55:36Speaker 2: they don't kill people. It is a safe conjecture that
- 55:40Speaker 2: if the Democrats take the House in twenty twenty six,
- 55:42Speaker 2: they will impeach Trump. What four a common guess his
- 55:46Speaker 2: command on at least five occasions so far to pulverize
- 55:50Speaker 2: boats to deemed by intelligence officials to be ferrying narcotics
- 55:55Speaker 2: into the US. The policy, in the end may invite
- 55:58Speaker 2: successful legal challenge. Before drawing up articles of impeachment, Democrats
- 56:03Speaker 2: may wish to ask a few average Americans what they think.
- 56:06Speaker 2: The point that they make is just about every American
- 56:09Speaker 2: thinks it's perfectly fine to blow up a bode of
- 56:11Speaker 2: drug smuggle. It's bringing drugs into the United States, and
- 56:14Speaker 2: the Democrats worried about the niceties of this, again, don't
- 56:17Speaker 2: understand democracy. Most of us think, if they're hauling in,
- 56:21Speaker 2: you know, boatloads of fentanyl and everything else into the
- 56:23Speaker 2: United States and we blow that boat up, that's a
- 56:26Speaker 2: good thing that we don't think you have a particular
- 56:29Speaker 2: unfettered right to come into the United States with boatloads
- 56:31Speaker 2: and drugs. Back to the peace. Democrats are sometimes right
- 56:34Speaker 2: to fulminate against the President for his decisions strong arming
- 56:36Speaker 2: private companies, telling pregnant women not to take tyl and
- 56:39Speaker 2: all slapping one hundred thousand dollars fee on h one
- 56:41Speaker 2: B applications, but many of Trump's preoccupations aren't of this sort.
- 56:45Speaker 2: I sometimes wonder, this is Martin Swain if the president's
- 56:48Speaker 2: turbulence in pursuit of his aims is meant to tempt
- 56:51Speaker 2: his adversaries into denouncing both the turbulence and the aims
- 56:55Speaker 2: and thus sound ridiculous. By the way, that is Trump's. Again,
- 57:01Speaker 2: I talk about earlier the Dodger fan who baited the
- 57:05Speaker 2: Brewer fan and is saying the thing, this is what
- 57:07Speaker 2: Trump does by doing things in the style that he does.
- 57:11Speaker 2: The lefties take the bait, and not only rip Trump
- 57:13Speaker 2: for the style, but they rip Trump for the substance,
- 57:15Speaker 2: and that's the substance in which almost everybody agrees with
- 57:18Speaker 2: him on Back to the piece. Has often badly expressed
- 57:22Speaker 2: belief that American cities tolerate too much crime. Has on
- 57:25Speaker 2: an educated guest eighty percent of the public behind it,
- 57:28Speaker 2: But many of his enemies seem to think that they
- 57:30Speaker 2: must choose between quelling violence with troops and denying the
- 57:34Speaker 2: existence of urban crime. If Democrats want to stop making
- 57:37Speaker 2: themselves abhorrent to the public, they will have to think
- 57:40Speaker 2: the unthinkable. That Trump is a democratic expression of the
- 57:44Speaker 2: American character, not the only or the finest expression, but
- 57:48Speaker 2: an authentic one. He decreed an overhaul of the Smithsonian
- 57:51Speaker 2: Institution because he knows what the electorate knows that America
- 57:55Speaker 2: is basically good. Even his quote weaponization of the Justice
- 57:58Speaker 2: Department to use the word the press forgot during Joe
- 58:01Speaker 2: Biden's presidency has a rough democratic rationale. Do unto others
- 58:05Speaker 2: who what was done to you and call it Even
- 58:09Speaker 2: Trump doesn't threaten democracy for good and ill, he has
- 58:12Speaker 2: a consequence of it. Martin Swain in the Wall Street Journal,
- 58:16Speaker 2: I know this a quote of the day. We're not
- 58:19Speaker 2: gonna play it. I'm just going to read it for you. Now,
- 58:25Speaker 2: you all know that Kamala Harris is trying to do
- 58:28Speaker 2: this book tour. It's better, it's better disaster. I mean
- 58:32Speaker 2: she can't. I honestly think Judge Joe Brown had it right.
- 58:37Speaker 2: We played this quote back in twenty twenty four in
- 58:39Speaker 2: the show He's the TV judge Joe Brown's half nuts himself,
- 58:41Speaker 2: but he says Kamala Harris is in early onset dementia.
- 58:45Speaker 2: I honestly think that's daddy. There's no way she was
- 58:48Speaker 2: this inarticulate when she was thirty years old. It just
- 58:52Speaker 2: thinks she can't be anyway. She was on Kara Swisher's podcast.
- 58:58Speaker 2: If you don't know what Kara Swisher is like, she's
- 59:01Speaker 2: the left's version of a successful podcast. It isn't that successful,
- 59:05Speaker 2: but it's like one of the better ones they have.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Kamala Harris said she may have been the most qualified
- 59:11Speaker 2: presidential candidate ever. No, there's actually aside from how laughable
- 59:22Speaker 2: that all is, there's actually a teaching moment in this.
- 59:26Speaker 2: In Kamala's mind, addled as it is, she counts resume
- 59:33Speaker 2: and she's had gigs. You know, she's the Attorney general
- 59:36Speaker 2: of California's a senator of the United States, a vice
- 59:39Speaker 2: president of the United States. Rather than ability. It's a
- 59:50Speaker 2: huge distinction in our world. It's one of the things
- 59:53Speaker 2: that led to all of these utter incompetence using DEI
- 59:56Speaker 2: to move themselves up the ladder. Okay, they had all
- 59:58Speaker 2: these things in their resume. Having done all these things
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: may or may not be indicative of whether or not
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: you'll be any good at something. It's a big story
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: in the athletic recently about the folly in the NFL
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: of hiring the hot offensive coordinator or the quarterback whisperer.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: The Titans just fired. You know, Brian Kelly. I worked
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: with Joe Burrow, he worked with this guy, He worked
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: with that guy, never seeming to consider that maybe the
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: reason that those teams offenses were successful and the quarterbacks
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: were good is that the quarterbacks were good and the
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: coordinator merely was working with them. You're listening to the
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Mark Belling podcast. This is the Mark Belling Podcast, and
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: this is always the case. On the Thursday podcast, we
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: end with our weekly football preview and some point spread picks,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: and as always I'm joined by Mike murletta of American
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: sports analysts in Madison. Their website is ASA wins dot com.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: I understand you've got a special offer you'd like to
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: tell all of my listeners about, Mike, what is it?
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: Absolutely? First of all, come off a really good weekend
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: last weekend. We won both of our top game Center
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: and Sunday. We just had a really good overall weekend
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: this weekend. What we're going to do for your listeners
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: if they're interested, go to ANSA wins dot com and
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: every package on there from tonight through Sunday is thirty
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: five percent off if you use the coupon code mark
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: MRK thirty five three five at checkout, Mark thirty five
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: at checkout, get you thirty five percent off all of
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: our stuff. Our weekend package are six star plays. There's
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: other handicappers that are on there that are all very solid,
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: so that I'll get you thirty five percent off Mark
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: thirty five.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: All right, now, people have to remember this because we're
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: not doing a live talk sho. If you try to
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: call up and ask what that thing is, nobody's going
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: to know what the answer is, Mark thirty five. Now
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Paul's thinking he named that because of the per set off.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: That's he clearly is using my age there. All right,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: let's get going with today's football preview. I think we
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: have to start with the situation with Wisconsin. Everything with
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Wisconsin football program right now just seems to me to
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: be a tobacco. They have an unbelievably brutal schedule. They
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: play Ohio State at home this week, They've got Oregon
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: next week. The offense appears to be non existent. The
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: fan base seems to have given up on the program.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: The head coach, Luke Fickle, who was as highly touted
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: as any possible coach you could hire, seems lost. I
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: don't even know necessarily where to start. Assuming that they
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: lose to Ohio State and by a lot of points,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: what do they do, Mike? Do they fire Fickle? What
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: do they do? What's the answer here? Because I think
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: no one really expected, even people who thought maybe this
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: won't work, never thought it could get to be the
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: mess that it is. What are your thoughts on the
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: Wisconsin program? Yeah?
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: I was a ficklebacker. Obviously everyone was.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: When he was hired, he was everybody was, everybody was.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: It looked like a great hire. But he's just you know,
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: they've regressed every year. They went from seven to six
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: to five and seven and two and ten or three
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: and nine this year, so showing no improvement. I don't
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: think they can keep them. I mean, he's got a
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: big buyout, twenty five ish million. I don't think they
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: can keep them. I don't think he'll last a season.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: He might last to the next two games Ohio State Oregon,
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: and then they have a buye. You know, if you're
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: gonna do it, maybe then let the interim have a
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: couple of weeks to work with the team. So they're
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: not winning the next two games, so that doesn't matter
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: who they bring, you know who who takes over for them.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: You mentioned their offense, Mark, I mean they're averaging they're
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: averaging less than seven points per game in the Big Ten.
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: In the last four games against FBSIPO, they've had forty
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: five offensive possessions, scored three offensive touchdowns their team total
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: this week. And they're playing the best defense in the
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: country this year. So you can wager sides totals. And
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: there's also.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: What's the prop on the Padrews being shut out? Seriously, Well,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: I think I don't think they'll score.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: No, their team total is six and a half points.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: Oh under, that's their team total.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: I mean, unless there's a pick six, I don't know
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: how they get over that.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: I agree. Ohio State's given up eight points per game
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: this season. I'm guessing Wisconsin gets shut out two weeks in.
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: I just don't see him scoring this weekend. So we'll see.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: But I think they're going to have to make a move,
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: and it's probably going to be before the end of
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: the season, I would guess, yeah.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: And I don't think firing the coach in the little
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: of the season does any good. On the other hand,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: you're almost, you know, torturing Fickled by sending him out
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: there to get pounded every week. I mean, things can
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: always turn around. There's just no sign of it. In
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: the meantime, fans are just more impatient than ever. I mean,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: when you step back a moment, the Penn State firing
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: of James Franklin seems shocking now. Admittedly they're coming off
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: a terrible three game stretch. They once again lost to
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: a top team they can't he can't be good teams
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: over there, but then lost to inferior teams two weeks
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: in a row. And appear to be reeling. On the
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: other hand, you know, teams have bad years every now
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: and then. Franklin has had Penn State in the top
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: ten pretty much as long as he's been there. It
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: seems almost impossible that the next coach, unless the next
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: coach wins a national championship, he can't do better than Franklin.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: So we're in a situation in which, you know, the
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: if you stumble at all a little bit at any point,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: it's let's fire you. So that's the environment that Fickle
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: and all of these coaches are in. I think Penn
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: State is nuts in getting rid of Franklin. I think
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: that they should simply swallow it. They're gonna have a
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: bad season, a disappointing season here, and stick with the guy,
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: because I don't know who they would hire, who they
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: would expect would do much better.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I agree. I mean, Franklin's record at Penn
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: State is one hundred and four and forty five and
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: he got canned three weeks ago. Just put in perspective,
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: three weeks ago, they were the number three team in
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: the country. They led Oregon in overtime, they win that game,
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: and there's a chance they they are number two, and
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: they have an argument for number one at that point.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: The problem is, of course he's done terrible against good teams,
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: and then the last two weeks they were twenty there
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: were more than twenty point favorites against ucl In Northwestern
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: lost both. That's the first team that's ever happened to
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: him thirty years.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Oh, Undeniably, the wheels have fallen off. My point is
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: it would seem as though if you take a look
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: at the big picture and where you're going from here,
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: you're still better off with him coming off of this
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: bad season than starting over with somebody else having half
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: the team transfer and you're not going to get anybody
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: with a better resume than Franklin. But that's the environment
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: that Wisconsin is in. I mean, you go back in
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: early in Barry Alvarez his career after the first Rose Bowl,
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: they stumbled in the mid nineties before they went to
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: the next two. I think they had two big ten
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: losing seasons in a row in this environment. I think
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: that Barry Alvarez could have been fired before he went
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: on and got to the second and the third Rose Ball,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: all of which of course that he won. There's just
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: like no sense I think at all of anybody looking
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: at the big picture, and I get the whole thing
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: with nil and college sports and so on, but it
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: just seems to be almost a crazed situation that's going
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: on with coaches, notwithstanding the fickle thing. I mean, unless
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: he somehow pulls a rabbit out of his hat, there's
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: just no indication that it's working at all, even though
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: I think people would have thought that it would work.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: With regard, I think we've pretty much covered the Ohio
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: State game. I'm actually surprise, Mike that the Badges are
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: only a twenty five point underdog. They lost by thirty
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: seven points to Iowa, and I think Ohio State's twenty
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: points better than Iowa. In my mind, the line should
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: be forty two, don't you.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, the interesting thing in this line is it
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: opened twenty seven and a half and it's moved down
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: to twenty five ish. When it opened at twenty seven
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: and a half, that's the highest point spread in the
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: history of the Ohio State Wisconsin game, home or away.
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: That's the highest point since nineteen eighty, the biggest point
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: spread Wisconsin's ever taken as a dog against Ohio State
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: at home. Prior to this was twenty one, so it's
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: a huge line. But I don't disagree with you. I
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: don't thinkco Wisconsin might not score, so Ohio State's got
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: to get to twenty seven.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, the only thought is that Wisconsin, you know,
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: emotion fired up, yet you know, pride kicks in. But
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: my retort to that is if that was going to happen,
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: it would have been last week, correct, and not this week.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: I mean, I'm getting vibes that neither of the top
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: two quarterbacks wants to play for the remainder of the
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: season because they both want a red shirt. That the
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: reason that O'Brien didn't go back into the game last
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: week is he doesn't want to. I'm hearing that I
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: don't know if it's true, and that Billy Edwards has
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: said that I'm medical red shirting. I don't know if
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: any of that stuff is true. But when things are
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: falling apart, you know, there's all sorts of leaks, most
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: of which aren't true. But the entire vibe that's coming
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: out of Madison is awful, and I just suspect that
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: it's going to be a sad situation. I just think
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: people are going to be booing like crazy, and it's
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: just it's all bad. At one other college game. There
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: are quite a few interesting ones, but I cherry picked
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: out one that I think is really intriguing because it's
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: both a big game and a sur rivalry game. Utah
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: plays BYU. They're both in the Big Twelve. The Big
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: Twelve is not very good this year, and Utah and
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: BYU are at the top of the league. They're from
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: the same state. Utah is always good and under the
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: current coach Tataki, BYU has gotten to be really good.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: I believe BYU is unbeaten and Utah has a loss,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: yet Utah has favored in this in state game. So
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: I just think it's an interesting game. I think it's
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: interesting that these two schools kind of in the middle
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: of nowhere have built long standing, you know, powerhouse status
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: really and it's such an important game in addition to
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: the fact that they're just they're huge rivals out there.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's two teams not a lot of people
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: talk about. But like you said, those teas because.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: They're from Utah, But I mean that's the only raison
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: they're from Utah on one's a Mormon school, that people
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: can't figure out. And the others of state that state
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: of Utah is about is anonymous the states you can imagine.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: But I mean as long as Winningham has been there,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: they've been a strong football team.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've got one loss between them, and that
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: was Utah against Texas Tech, who's probably a top five
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: team in the country.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: That just Tech is way better than people think. And
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: they are proof that you can indeed use nil to
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: buy a team. That's what they've did.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: That's what they did. I mean, that was our top
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: that was our six star play last week with Texas
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: Tech over Kansas and it won easily. And Texas Tech
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: lost their quarterback in the first first half in that
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: game too. But anyway back to this game, so two
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: top thirty offenses, two top twenty defenses by US one
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: the last two. But prior to that, Utah had won
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: nine straight. It is interesting that Utah's favored on the
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: road and they're the team with a loss. This is
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: an underdog series if you like, you know a lot
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: of times these type of series are underdog series. The
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: dog is covered twenty one of the last twenty eight
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: back to nineteen ninety three and now You're getting a
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: home underdog here, so that would probably we're not going
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: to use the game, But I don't think I could
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: lay points on the road in this type of series.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: It's just it's probably going to be a close game
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: down to the layer.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Let's turn our attention to the NFL, the Packers and
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: the Cardinals. This is a curious game too. The Packers,
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: to me, to the eye test, don't look good at
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: all Arizona. In the meantime, the whole team is banged up.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: We don't know. I don't think we know at this
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: point if Murray is going to play. It looks like
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Harrison Junior is in the cushion protocol that he may
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: not play. And it's not really a home game for Arizona.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: That place is going to be packed with Packer fans.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: It always is when Green Bay plays out in Arizona.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: Yet the Packers are favored by six and a half.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: In Day Boy, they struggled, at least to the eye test,
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: they struggled against Cincinnati, and Arizona's way better than Cincinnati.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: What do you make of this game? And should the
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Packers be favored by nearly a touchdown even with injuries
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: to Arizona.
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's a little bit high. You know,
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: if I'm Arizona after last week, I'd rather have Brissett
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: a quarterback anyway. The way he played last week, they
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: had four hundred yards twenty seven points. Last week they
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: lost by four at Indianapolis. That's the most yardage they've
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: had this year. In fact, with Murray at quarterback, and
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: four of their first five games they didn't even get
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: to three hundred yards. And they had four hundred yards
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: last week and Brissett through for three hundred and twenty yards.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Does that seem like Kyler Murray is a guy whose
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: rookie season was his best year.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, don't. I don't think he's a great quarterback.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: I think he's okay. I think he's middle of the
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: pack average. And that's just the way I agree with you.
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: On green Bay last week, I was shocked the Bengals
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: scored eighteen points in that game, all in the second
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: half with Flacco had barely been with the team. Their
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: playbick was limited, and they were moving the ball decent
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: the second half. I wasn't impressed with green Bay last week.
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: Even though they won, they outgained them pretty badly. But
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: one thing about Arizona. All their games are close. Every game.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: All six games they're two and four. All six games
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: been decided by seven points or less. And here's a
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: big thing about Green Bay mark they have two takeaways
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: this year on defense, the Jets only have one.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: I mean, what happened to Xavier McKinney missed the interception?
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: I mean I didn't even see it. I mean I
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: see him running, I see the number, I see him
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: running a round note there, but I never see him
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: involved in any plays. I mean he seems to have
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: vanished from the defense.
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and turnover margins such a huge thing. They're lucky
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: they only have three turnovers this year. Otherwise they wouldn't
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: have a three to one in one record because they're
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: not taking the ball away. They have to change that soon.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: I think one other game in the NFL, and again
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: there's a lot of interesting ones, but the one I
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: grabbed is the Eagles and the Vikings Philadelphia. You know,
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: super Bowl losers usually fall apart the following season. Kansas
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: City isn't, but the Eagles of the Super Bowl winner,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: and they've looked really bad in several games. And then
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: there's the Vikings, who they don't know who their quarterbacks
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: should be. Should it be McCarthy, should it be Carson
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Wentz who's just been bloffer his entire career. Not good,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: not bad. They don't have much offense somehow Philadelphia doesn't
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: have much offense at all. But they're both clearly still
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: good teams. Again, I throw the game up because I'm
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: not sure what to make of it. What do you
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: make of it?
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Philadelphia open in a two and a
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: half point favorites down to one and a half. Philadelphia's
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: four and two, they can easily be two and four.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: This year they're four and two, and they look like
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: they're one and five again the eye tests. They just
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: don't look very good.
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: No, we've been fading for Philadelphia the last few weeks.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: With the Rams a few weeks ago, we know how
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: that turned out, and then Denver a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: we got that win. They're just not very good this year.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: Their offense stinks. They ranked twenty six. They're lower and
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: pretty much every offensive category and the one thing that's
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: just crazy about this team this year. Last year, they
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: averaged one hundred and eighty four yards per game. Rushing
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: second in the NFL, five yards per carry fourth. This year,
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: they're averaging ninety five yards per game rushing and three
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: point five yards per carry. Barkley is on pace for
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: nine hundred yards this year, and he had over two
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: thousand last year. They can't run the ball, which is crazy.
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: The one thing I do like, I like Minnesota a
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: little bit in this game as an underdog. They're coming
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: off two games in Europe, but they had a bye
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: last week, and they they've got a really good defense,
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: and they're really good as an underdog. Just going back
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: to like twenty twelve, they're twenty two to ten as
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: a home dog. All the way back to nineteen eighty,
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: they're fifty one and thirty five as a home dog.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: They're just good as a home dog. And I think
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: the Eagles are vastly overrated. It's gonna be WinCE McCarthy's
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: still a few weeks out from what we heard, so
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: it's going to be once again, and I think Minnesota's
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: a really good chance to win that game.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Okay, it's time for some point spread precks. An before
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: we get to this week, let's see how things worked
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: out last week. Michael got off to a terrible start.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: He's on a run. He won again two in a row. Mike,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: you had the Seattle over Jacksonville, which that turned out
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: to a pretty good pick. At the time we did
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: our show. Seattle was actually still an underdog in the game,
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: and they beat the Jaguars by eight points, so that
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: was a win. Paul took Washington by five points over
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: the Bears, and the Bears won the game. Here's the
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: weird thing on the Bears. They have won two games
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: in a row by the same score of twenty five
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: to twenty four. You might not have another twenty five
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: to twenty four final in the NFL all year. And
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: the Bears have won by that exact score two weeks
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: in a row. And I kind of thought I'd lose
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: last week, but almost won, but I didn't win. I
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: took East Carolina six and a half on the underdog
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: against Tulane and they lost by seven in the last
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: minute of the game, twenty six to nineteen. So Mike
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: got a win, and Paul and I yeah, you and
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: you and you and Mike Paul are tied for second place.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I remember there's only three of us this year, so
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: second place. Both sounds good and bad. All right, that's
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: where we were. Let's get some little disorganized here, but
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: I'll get myself together any second. No, Paul, you get
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: to go first point spreads for this weekend's games. He's
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: gonna start with the Giants at the Broncos. All right,
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: here it is that game's in Denver, Denver favored by seven,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: the Vikings and the Eagles. That one's moved. We use
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: scores and odds and I just credited and what they
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: have as the line is Eagles by one and a half.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: That's gone down and it might continue to go down.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: But at the moment we do this, Philadelphia on the
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: road is favored by one and a half. Paul is
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: going to take the Vikings. I agree with you. You
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: can look at three things. You can look at records,
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: you can look at stats. You can look at the eyeballs,
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: and in particularly the eyeballs. To me, Philadelphia doesn't look
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: any good. That can change. Teams change on a dime.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: But I agree with Paul on this. Paul, you just
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: said all the reasons Mike mentioned. We would have Mike
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: discuss it again because we just went through the game.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: Is there a reason the home field advantage he cites. Yeah,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: I just I just no, Carson Wentz isn't bad. He's
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: as I said, he's blah, he's exactly black. Carson Wentz
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: is if you created a generic NFL quarterback, that that's
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: what he is. I think he's Yeah, he's in that category.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: All right, that's Paul's pick. He takes the Vikings to
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: either win or lose by one or less. Mike, where
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: do you want to go?
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: Let's let's first just check the line on the game.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: We talked about Ohio State Wisconsin.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, I saw it's twenty five and a half.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: To dig it up. I think it's somewhere for the end,
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: isn't it? Three?
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: Is the game there?
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Yeah? Twenty five and a half Ohio State on the road.
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to take Ohio State. I hate going
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: against Wisconsin, but I've watched them every game this year,
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: and we talked about it. They're gonna they might not
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: score in the game. And actually, if they got to seven,
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: I'd be shocked. So Ohio State gets to twenty seven,
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: they might cover. If they get to the mid thirties,
- 1:19:33Speaker 4: I think they cover for sure, and maybe the mid
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: thirties and pretty much every game except Texas.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: I just you know, Scott's defense has been decent this year,
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: but they gave up thirty seven to Iowa, and Ohio
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: State's offense is better than Iowa's and the defenses, if anything,
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: are comparable. Ohio State's probably better. I just think there's
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: no reason to disagree with that pick, and I agree
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: with it as well. And I thought about using that game.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: I'm going to take a game instead in the NFL.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: I'm going to let me get the correct points spread
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: on my game here. It's a good one. Yeah. The
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: weird thing is it's going down, which surprises me. The
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Saints at the Bears. The Bears are favored before and
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: a half at home, and I know the Bears keep
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: winning by one point. I think they're going to win
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: by five or more. New Orleans has turned out to
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: be not as putrid as people thought that they were
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: going to be. But the Bears are just improving. I mean,
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: the Ben Johnson offense with Caleb Williams at quarterback is
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: starting to work. They just outplayed Washington. They're scoring a
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: lot of points. Their defense isn't bad. New Orleans. You
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: know they're lost to New England doesn't look that bad
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: because New England might be the most improved team in
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: the NFL this year. I just think that there's a
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: significant difference between the two, and I think that the
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Bears are an ascended team right now, as we all
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: kind of feared that they would be. I probably knows
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: why this is, but that line was five and a half.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: That it was five and no, I was I just glanced.
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: We just prended this off, and again we use a
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: consensus service, it says four and a half. Is there
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: any reason that I'm not aware of as to why
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: action seems to be moving toward New Orleans? Because I
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: think that the Bears can win this game by ten or.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: More just money, and there's no there's no injuries or anything.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: I think it's the fact that, you know, Chicago's been
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: an underdog in every game this year, and all of
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: a sudden their favorite by almost touchdown. New Orleans has
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: played every team fairly close, with the exception of at Seattle.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: People are nervous Land that much with Chicago, would be
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: my guest. The money is coming in on New Orleans
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: for sure in this game right now, So that's why
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: the line's dropping. I don't. I don't like the game
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: either way. I'd be nervous land money with Chicago. But
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: New Orleans has played you know, they've played pretty good
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: at home. They've had a they've had one stinker on
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: the road, but they've been better than most people think.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: That's what I said, that they're not as bad as
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: people thought. People thought they might be the worst team
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: in the NFL. But just because they're better than people think,
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: I don't think means that they're good. I don't think
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: that they're very good. I also think, you know, perceptions.
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: The Bears lost in Week two to Detroit and gave
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: up fifty two points, and it looked like, oh, here
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: we go. But the fact of the matter is since
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: that game, they've been very good. They came back the
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: following week and beat Dallas thirty one to fourteen. If
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: you know any about Dallas, they're not a very good team,
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: but they have a great offense. They held into fourteen,
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: and then they went off on this winning streak, the
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: weird one with a by wrap between two games on
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: the road. They went out to the Raiders, who are
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: you know? OK? Twenty five to twenty four, and then
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: at Washington with Daniels back, they beat them twenty five
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: to twenty four. So I think if you and remember
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: their Week one loss to Minnesota, they had that game one,
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: they just gave it away at the end of the game.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: You throw out the Detroit game. Chicago is a pretty
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: good team, and it gives me no great, you know,
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: good feeling to pick the Bears to do anything. But
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: I think I have a good pick on the game. Paul,
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: what do you think of that pick? Yeah, Paul, of
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: a resort, we'll recap everybody's picks. Remember, Mike and ASA
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: have that thirty five percent discount, and again you have
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: to put in their discount code mark thirty five. The
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: mark comes from the star of this program me. Let's
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: see the picks. Paul says, Oh, look at the wrong one.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: Here we go. Paul says to take the Vikings over
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: the Eagles, meaning he needs them either to win or
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: lose by one or less or tie. Obviously, Mike says,
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Ohio State beats Wisconsin by twenty six or more. Maybe
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: all of us in Wisconsin are just too blinded by
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: the negativity of the Badgers. But I clearly agree with
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: that pick, and I take the Bears to beat the
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Saints by five or more. Next podcast will be released
