- 0:00Speaker 1: Now this is the Mark Simon Show on seven tenor.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Wow, this ought to be interesting. We'll get to Rob
- 0:09Speaker 2: Reiner in great detail. We'll get to President Trump's attack
- 0:13Speaker 2: on Rob Reiner. Why did he do it? Why did
- 0:16Speaker 2: he have to do that? How could he do such
- 0:18Speaker 2: a thing. Well, we'll get to all that coming up.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We'll get to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles,
- 0:23Speaker 2: who usually stays way below the radar. I don't know why,
- 0:28Speaker 2: gave a big interview to Vanity Fair and it's causing
- 0:31Speaker 2: all kinds of controversy. We'll get to that. We'll get
- 0:34Speaker 2: to Howard Stern he announced he staying but with about
- 0:38Speaker 2: one hundred asterisks on that. We'll get to Bruce Blakeman
- 0:42Speaker 2: running for governor. We'll get to We've got a lot
- 0:44Speaker 2: to get to. Curtis will be with us a little later.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Can't wait to hear what he's got to say about everything.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So here's what we know. More stuff coming out every
- 0:54Speaker 2: hour about the whole Rob Reiner situation. You know, the
- 1:02Speaker 2: he was murdered Sunday afternoon about three o'clock, and that
- 1:09Speaker 2: night he was he and his wife were supposed to
- 1:11Speaker 2: have dinner with Michelle and Barack Obama. They were supposed
- 1:14Speaker 2: to have dinner that night, and that's quite a I
- 1:23Speaker 2: don't mean a group be gruesome, but you know, sometimes
- 1:25Speaker 2: you get a call, Hey, we're gonna have to cancel,
- 1:28Speaker 2: not feeling well or something like that. But to get
- 1:33Speaker 2: a call have to cancel, what's the matter, Well they're dead?
- 1:38Speaker 2: What dad throat slit? They can't come to dinner. I mean,
- 1:43Speaker 2: what a shock that must have been. Now all sorts
- 1:47Speaker 2: of stuff is coming out as we know now it
- 1:51Speaker 2: looks like it's Nick Reiner the Sun. The night before,
- 1:56Speaker 2: there's a big Christmas party thrown by Conan O'Brien, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: I don't know why Rob Righter and his wife are
- 2:02Speaker 2: going to the party. They brought a couple of the kids.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I don't know why they brought the son Nick or
- 2:06Speaker 2: why he was there, because everybody said he clearly didn't
- 2:10Speaker 2: fit in, didn't want to be there. It was, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 2: a nice, fancy Christmas party with everybody dressed up, and
- 2:18Speaker 2: Nick Ryner shows up with a hoodie. You know, it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: like a sweatsuit and a hoodie with the hood up
- 2:25Speaker 2: over his head, looking very very out of place. Also,
- 2:30Speaker 2: in the middle of the crowd, looking very angry, like
- 2:32Speaker 2: he didn't want to be there. He didn't like this,
- 2:34Speaker 2: He resented this, and whenever he would look at anybody
- 2:39Speaker 2: or talk to him, it was always with an angry look.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And he they said, some people he went around said
- 2:44Speaker 2: are you famous? Are you famous? So he just you know,
- 2:48Speaker 2: for a kid with all kinds of mental problems to
- 2:51Speaker 2: be in a very agitated state and to be in
- 2:53Speaker 2: this room was a little bizarre. And then at some
- 2:57Speaker 2: point he got into a fight with his and just
- 3:00Speaker 2: freaked out completely and starts yelling and screaming, and the
- 3:06Speaker 2: father starts yelling and screaming back. And this is in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the middle of the party. I mean, it was a
- 3:12Speaker 2: very loud, screaming argument that went on for a long time,
- 3:16Speaker 2: freaking out everybody else in the party. So at some
- 3:21Speaker 2: point the kid left, and then Rob Reiner and his wife,
- 3:24Speaker 2: realizing they had totally ruined the party and upset everybody,
- 3:28Speaker 2: they left as well. Now we now know that the
- 3:32Speaker 2: kid left the party and did something. For a few hours.
- 3:37Speaker 2: He was living, apparently in a guest house on the
- 3:41Speaker 2: Rob Reiner estate. On the compound, there's a guest house.
- 3:45Speaker 2: He was living there, but he may have gone back
- 3:46Speaker 2: there to get some things, but he didn't stay there. Instead,
- 3:50Speaker 2: later that night, in the middle of the night, actually
- 3:53Speaker 2: about four in the morning, he checked into a motel
- 3:57Speaker 2: in Santa Monica. So he left Brent Would went to
- 4:00Speaker 2: Santa Monica. Checked into this hotel at about four in
- 4:03Speaker 2: the morning. The staff thought that he looked a little well,
- 4:09Speaker 2: let's just say, wound up a little nutty. But you
- 4:11Speaker 2: know who checks into a Hollywood hotel at four in
- 4:15Speaker 2: the morning, but a nutty looking guy in a hoodie.
- 4:17Speaker 2: So he checked in and then it was the next day.
- 4:21Speaker 2: He was still probably all crazed over the fight, whatever
- 4:24Speaker 2: that was. The next day, went back to Rob Reiner's house,
- 4:29Speaker 2: had an extremely loud argument. The daughter could hear it
- 4:32Speaker 2: from she was also living in another guest house on
- 4:35Speaker 2: the property. She could hear the argument and it went
- 4:38Speaker 2: on for a while, and then I guess it stopped,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and that's why she decided to go check on her
- 4:44Speaker 2: parents and she found them dead. Imagine the daughter goes
- 4:50Speaker 2: and finds them dead, their throat slit, blood everywhere, was
- 4:53Speaker 2: just awful. She immediately calls the police. And then I
- 4:59Speaker 2: didn't realize it were really really the family was really
- 5:02Speaker 2: close to Billy Crystal and his wife. So as soon
- 5:04Speaker 2: as she calls the police and hangs up, she then
- 5:07Speaker 2: immediately calls Billy Crystal and tells him what's happened. He
- 5:12Speaker 2: and his wife jump in the car and race over
- 5:15Speaker 2: to Rob Reiner's house and get there about the same
- 5:19Speaker 2: time as the police. So they came in as the
- 5:21Speaker 2: police are getting there. So Billy Crystal and his wife
- 5:25Speaker 2: as they come in, see the bodies on the floor,
- 5:27Speaker 2: the throat slit, the blood, every it must have been
- 5:30Speaker 2: just horrifying. And that's why reporters said when they saw
- 5:33Speaker 2: Billy Crystal come out of the house, he and his
- 5:35Speaker 2: wife were very shaken up. We're crying and so imagine
- 5:38Speaker 2: this is your close friend. You see the bodies like that.
- 5:41Speaker 2: So the police are there, a huge response from the
- 5:45Speaker 2: police department, and then she, the daughter, tells them, you
- 5:49Speaker 2: got to look at the sun. He's crazy. He's got
- 5:52Speaker 2: a history of violent, crazy behavior, and they've had a
- 5:54Speaker 2: big fight. I heard fighting. She tells me to look
- 5:57Speaker 2: for him. They go look for him. It took a
- 5:59Speaker 2: while to find him. They finally released the pictures of
- 6:03Speaker 2: them arresting him. I think he was at a train
- 6:05Speaker 2: station or a bus station. They find him, arrest him.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You can see a picture of him being thrown to
- 6:09Speaker 2: the ground and handcuffed and then pushed up against the
- 6:12Speaker 2: car frisked, I guess, and then they throw him in
- 6:16Speaker 2: the car. He's a troubled kid. He's been in rehab
- 6:19Speaker 2: over seventeen times since the age of fifteen. They've talked
- 6:25Speaker 2: before about whether or not he was a danger, and
- 6:31Speaker 2: you know, experts will tell you that these kind of situations,
- 6:35Speaker 2: the family never fully understands the danger. They always underestimate
- 6:40Speaker 2: the violent danger of the kid.
- 6:42Speaker 3: This doesn't just start the day before yesterday, so there
- 6:46Speaker 3: was ongoing issues between them. And when I've seen cases
- 6:51Speaker 3: like this in the past, oftentimes the family underestimates the
- 6:56Speaker 3: potential of their loved one in terms of what they
- 6:59Speaker 3: could do to them. But I think we're going to
- 7:01Speaker 3: see the patterns begin to come to the surface over time,
- 7:06Speaker 3: because that is a lot of anger. That's a lot
- 7:08Speaker 3: of rage. It doesn't just start on the night of
- 7:10Speaker 3: the attack.
- 7:11Speaker 2: So the police find out the kid, Nick Reiner, was
- 7:13Speaker 2: in a hotel room. They go to the hotel and
- 7:17Speaker 2: they find the hotel room is got blood everywhere, there's
- 7:22Speaker 2: blood on the sheets. There's blood everywhere in this hotel room.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And he had taken some sheets and put them up
- 7:27Speaker 2: over the window to cover the windows, and then there's
- 7:30Speaker 2: blood all over the hotel room. Now, what could you
- 7:32Speaker 2: be doing in there that would cause all this blood?
- 7:37Speaker 2: He might say, Well, when he was stabbing his mother
- 7:40Speaker 2: and father, he might have gotten blood all over him,
- 7:41Speaker 2: But when he checked in, they didn't see blood all
- 7:43Speaker 2: over him. So who knows what he did in that
- 7:45Speaker 2: room to cause all that blood to be everywhere. The
- 7:48Speaker 2: kid obviously completely psycho, just literally just a raging maniac.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So he's under arrest, he's in custody. He's on suicide
- 7:59Speaker 2: watch right now. Believe he's suicidal. He's being held in isolation.
- 8:04Speaker 2: He's now being Originally there was bail, he's now being
- 8:06Speaker 2: held without bail. There is no bail, and he's on
- 8:10Speaker 2: suicide watch. Rob Reiner, the friend's family, they say they
- 8:16Speaker 2: family did everything they could for this kid. The problem is,
- 8:19Speaker 2: I don't think they fully understood how dangerous the situation
- 8:24Speaker 2: was and that they probably had to have this kid
- 8:26Speaker 2: committed in some kind of mental institution. But when you're
- 8:30Speaker 2: wealthy in hollywoodish you know, sometimes you're you're not really
- 8:34Speaker 2: very realistic about things, and to let this kid live,
- 8:39Speaker 2: you know, in your guest house and let him just
- 8:41Speaker 2: be free in but somebody should have realized this kid
- 8:45Speaker 2: needed to be committed. I mean, obviously now we know
- 8:50Speaker 2: he needed to be committed. So but they said they
- 8:53Speaker 2: spared no expense in trying to rehabilitate them countless facilities.
- 8:57Speaker 2: But you know, sometimes these these are these Hollywood rehabs.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Then aren't that great? You know, you see everybody that
- 9:02Speaker 2: goes to these Hollywood rehab centers, every Charlie Sheen type.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Have you ever seen anybody actually cured? Not really, not
- 9:08Speaker 2: a lot. So it's just a horrible situation. Now, Rob Reiner,
- 9:17Speaker 2: he was great and all in the family. You know,
- 9:19Speaker 2: you go back check out my Twitter, there's some clips
- 9:21Speaker 2: up there, but you can see there were moments of
- 9:23Speaker 2: really great acting there. Then he goes on to be
- 9:26Speaker 2: a director. I think Spinal Tap was first, but when
- 9:30Speaker 2: you look back on his history as a director, producer
- 9:34Speaker 2: making films, it's an incredible career. He was just brilliant
- 9:38Speaker 2: at it, brilliant at it. Misery A few good men.
- 9:42Speaker 2: When Harry met Sally I mean, he was incredible a
- 9:47Speaker 2: director and producer, great, great talent, and you got to
- 9:50Speaker 2: give him credit. For Seinfeld, it was his company castle Rock,
- 9:55Speaker 2: which you named it after a town in Maine. Castle
- 9:57Speaker 2: Rock produced signed and nobody remembers this. But Seinfeld didn't
- 10:03Speaker 2: do very well the first couple of years, and after
- 10:06Speaker 2: the first year, NBC was going to cancel it, and
- 10:08Speaker 2: Jerry Seinfeld said, he owes everything to Rob Reiner. Rob
- 10:12Speaker 2: Reiner went to NBC and yelled and screamed and cried
- 10:15Speaker 2: and pleaded and begged for them to give Seinfeld another season,
- 10:20Speaker 2: give it another chance. It'll come together, and it worked.
- 10:23Speaker 2: He kept it on the air. They were going to
- 10:25Speaker 2: cancel it the first season. Second season they were going
- 10:27Speaker 2: to cancel. It was Rob Reiner that went and fought
- 10:29Speaker 2: and screamed apparently got in a huge screaming fights with
- 10:34Speaker 2: NBC president Brandon Tartakoff, and he kept Seinfeld on the air.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And Seinfeld yesterday said, I it wasn't for Rob Reiner,
- 10:42Speaker 2: it wouldn't have happened. Seinfeld wouldn't have happened. Now he
- 10:45Speaker 2: turned out to be right. Seinfeld went on to be
- 10:48Speaker 2: the biggest show in television for seven eight years. It
- 10:50Speaker 2: went on to be the biggest show in syndication, making
- 10:53Speaker 2: over a billion dollars. Everybody made a fortune, and one
- 10:59Speaker 2: of the guys that made some of that money was
- 11:00Speaker 2: Steve Bannon. Believe it or not, an unknown Steve Bannon
- 11:04Speaker 2: at the time, who had come from Goldman Sachs, was
- 11:06Speaker 2: one of the investors in Castle Rock, and then when
- 11:10Speaker 2: they sold Castle Rock, he advised people to keep a
- 11:14Speaker 2: percentage of the show, and they gave him a percentage.
- 11:19Speaker 2: So to this day, Steve Bannon makes a lot of
- 11:22Speaker 2: money in payments off the syndication of Seinfeld, which always
- 11:26Speaker 2: upset the hell out of Rob Reiner. Drove nuts that
- 11:29Speaker 2: Bannon was profiting from this. There are other people. James
- 11:33Speaker 2: Woods was on TV last night talking about how when
- 11:36Speaker 2: his career was over, he was finished. It was Rob
- 11:38Speaker 2: Reiner that believed in him gave him a part in
- 11:40Speaker 2: a movie. Studio said absolutely not, that guy's washed up. Again.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Rob Reiner went and fought for him, got him the part,
- 11:47Speaker 2: and he ended up getting an Academy Award nomination for it. So,
- 11:52Speaker 2: I mean, Rob Reiner's father was the same way. You know,
- 11:55Speaker 2: the Dick Van Dyke Show was canceled after the first year.
- 12:00Speaker 2: At that time it was the greatest went on to
- 12:02Speaker 2: be the greatest sitcom of the early sixties, but it
- 12:05Speaker 2: was canceled after the first year. Carl Reiner got on
- 12:08Speaker 2: a plane flew to Ohio to meet with the sponsor.
- 12:11Speaker 2: It wasn't Johnson and Johnson, one of the big big
- 12:15Speaker 2: companies was the sponsor. He went and saw them, burst
- 12:18Speaker 2: into their office, yelled and screamed, begged and pleaded, and
- 12:22Speaker 2: somehow convinced him to just give it one more season,
- 12:25Speaker 2: and sure enough it went on to become huge. So
- 12:28Speaker 2: Rob Reiner must have remembered all that did the same
- 12:30Speaker 2: thing for Seinfeld. And if you watch the Dick Van
- 12:34Speaker 2: Dyke Show, it's about the comedy writer of the big
- 12:37Speaker 2: variety TV show who lives in Newest Shell and he's
- 12:40Speaker 2: got a son. Well, that was Rob Reiner. Carl Reiner
- 12:43Speaker 2: wrote that show based on his real life, and that
- 12:45Speaker 2: was Rob Reiner. Grew up in the same kind of
- 12:48Speaker 2: house with the Rob Petrie and Newest Schell at that time.
- 12:52Speaker 2: His father was actually Carl Reiner and he was writing
- 12:54Speaker 2: for Sid Caesar. But it's an amazing story. Now, this
- 13:02Speaker 2: is a horrible tragedy, the most awful tragedy imaginable. And
- 13:07Speaker 2: then President Trump tweets out I don't have in front
- 13:12Speaker 2: of me, but he just said Rob Reiner was a deranged,
- 13:15Speaker 2: you know, maniac with Trump derangement syndrome. He was spewing
- 13:18Speaker 2: hatred all the time.
- 13:20Speaker 4: You know.
- 13:20Speaker 2: He said basically something about the hateful energy they put out,
- 13:25Speaker 2: the hate, the rage must have infected other people around him. Now,
- 13:29Speaker 2: you're not supposed to do that in a tragedy like this.
- 13:31Speaker 2: You're the president of the United States. You're supposed to
- 13:33Speaker 2: be very, very, very gracious. But that's not Donald Trump. Now,
- 13:41Speaker 2: if for me, I would have been gracious about it,
- 13:44Speaker 2: or I would have just let it go, not say it.
- 13:46Speaker 2: But that's not Donald Trump. So it upset a lot
- 13:48Speaker 2: of people that he attacked Rob Reiner in death. But yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 2: of course saw the Hollywood people tweeting furiously all night
- 13:57Speaker 2: about how Trump is obviously and this is one of them,
- 14:02Speaker 2: said the twenty fifth Amendment. CNN, MSNBC and even Fox,
- 14:07Speaker 2: Fox News panels, you know, totally denounced Trump for doing that,
- 14:11Speaker 2: and they're right, they're not wrong. I mean, Fox is
- 14:13Speaker 2: a classic place. They would never do anything like that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I would never do anything like that. But that's Donald Trump.
- 14:20Speaker 2: That's what he does, that's what he's always done, that's
- 14:22Speaker 2: what he'll continue to do. For a number of reasons. One,
- 14:24Speaker 2: he has absolutely no filter. He will always say what
- 14:30Speaker 2: he really thinks. Now, if you do that in this situation, boy,
- 14:33Speaker 2: it's gonna be the You're gonna get bombarded. But he
- 14:36Speaker 2: also loves to be the lead story of the day.
- 14:41Speaker 2: And with this Rob Reiner stuff, you know, nobody would
- 14:44Speaker 2: think of him. It would just all be about Robert.
- 14:46Speaker 2: So he puts himself right back on top of the
- 14:49Speaker 2: of the news. That's one reason he does it. Again,
- 14:54Speaker 2: it's not right to do it. I wouldn't do it,
- 14:57Speaker 2: but I understand why he does it. And you know,
- 14:59Speaker 2: you can't say, hey, don't do this, don't do that.
- 15:01Speaker 2: The guy's the most successful guy in the world. Who's
- 15:04Speaker 2: to tell him what to do? And I've seen this before.
- 15:06Speaker 2: You know, a lot of Trump is based on Frank Sinatra.
- 15:10Speaker 2: He was a big studier of Frank Sinatra. I used
- 15:13Speaker 2: to talk to him about this years ago. Sinatra techniques, methods,
- 15:17Speaker 2: the way that was Sinatra. So who had no filter,
- 15:20Speaker 2: he would and he Sinatra was in the same situation.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Earlier in his career, there was a guy named Lee Mortimer.
- 15:27Speaker 2: He was the biggest columnist and he wrote the most
- 15:31Speaker 2: vicious things about Frank Sinatra. Vicious. He tried to tie
- 15:34Speaker 2: him to the mob. That's where actually all that mafia
- 15:36Speaker 2: stuff started from Lee Mortimer's columns. He tried to get
- 15:39Speaker 2: the guy just, you know, just totally disavowed by Holly.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I mean, nobody went after more than this columnist, Lee Mortimer.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Sinatra saw on was in a restaurant and punched him
- 15:49Speaker 2: right in the face and was put on trial. He
- 15:53Speaker 2: was actually convicted of assault, but Sinatra was so powerful
- 15:57Speaker 2: that he managed to avoid jail. Instead, he had a
- 16:00Speaker 2: pay a fifteen thousand dollars fine, which was a fortune
- 16:04Speaker 2: back then, and for the rest of his life, Sinatra
- 16:07Speaker 2: carried in his pocket a certified check for fifteen thousand dollars.
- 16:11Speaker 2: He said, if I ever see that guy, I'm gonna
- 16:12Speaker 2: punch him again and hand him the check. But years later,
- 16:17Speaker 2: Lee Mortimer died and he was a big columnist in America.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Said there was a huge funeral, and Sinatra didn't go
- 16:26Speaker 2: to the funeral. But later that night, at about two
- 16:29Speaker 2: in the morning. He brought a lot of friends to
- 16:31Speaker 2: the cemetery in the dark, in the middle of the night.
- 16:33Speaker 2: He wanted them to watch as he pissed on the
- 16:36Speaker 2: grave of Lee Mortimer. So that's Trump, that's Sinatra. There's
- 16:42Speaker 2: a lot of similarities. They just there was nothing phony
- 16:45Speaker 2: in these guys. They just couldn't do it. Hey, well,
- 16:47Speaker 2: take some calls. Next, eight hundred three to two one
- 16:50Speaker 2: zero seven ten. Is the number eight hundred three to
- 16:53Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Give wor a bri said on the iHeartRadio after Mark
- 17:00Speaker 1: Simone and all the wo R hosts in an instance.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simo show on woor.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Mara in Nevada. Mara,
- 17:14Speaker 2: how you.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Doing so good?
- 17:16Speaker 5: I'm talking to you, Chad, Vincent, Mark I coulte to
- 17:20Speaker 5: wish you a wonderful vacation. Thanks, Merry Christmas, and I
- 17:25Speaker 5: hope you have a fun New Year's ease. Thank you
- 17:28Speaker 5: very much for another year of putting a smile on
- 17:32Speaker 5: my face and bringing Vincent into my life.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Oh well, thank you for listening. Thank you for being
- 17:37Speaker 2: our number one fan in Nevada there. Thanks for everything.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Let's go to Vic and Pennsylvania. Vick, how you doing.
- 17:45Speaker 6: I'm doing fine, Mark, Mark. You know, Trump should have
- 17:49Speaker 6: said the attack that Rob Ryan gez on Rush Limbaugh
- 17:56Speaker 6: when he was when he gave him the Medal of
- 17:58Speaker 6: Freedom and with jam and the day after he died.
- 18:02Speaker 6: It's verifiable. It's really terrible the things that he said.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point. Actually, if you go to
- 18:08Speaker 2: my Twitter, there's a little montage up there of the vile, disgusting, ugly,
- 18:15Speaker 2: horrifying hatefield things Rob Reiner used to post on Twitter,
- 18:20Speaker 2: hundreds and hundreds of them. It was really ugly hatefield stuff. Now,
- 18:25Speaker 2: if you're the president, you're not supposed to say bad
- 18:27Speaker 2: things in a tragedy like this. But if the guy
- 18:29Speaker 2: wrote the most ugly, vicious, awful stuff about you day
- 18:34Speaker 2: and night for years, you know, and for all the
- 18:38Speaker 2: people who say I could talk about Donald Trump say that,
- 18:40Speaker 2: how could he post that while wound? Donald Trump say, well,
- 18:42Speaker 2: where were you when Rob Reiner was doing it every second,
- 18:45Speaker 2: all day and night. Let's go to Grace in Rockland County. Grace,
- 18:48Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 18:50Speaker 7: I'm doing excellently, Mark. That monologue was wonderful. It was
- 18:55Speaker 7: so entertaining, and I learned so much.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 18:58Speaker 7: That's why you're such a radio personality.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Oh thanks. It was about stabbing and death and throat slit.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I wouldn't call that entertaining.
- 19:06Speaker 7: No, what you said about Sinatra and the come on
- 19:10Speaker 7: it was excellent. I learned so much.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Listen.
- 19:14Speaker 7: But as far as Trump, okay, they can hold up
- 19:17Speaker 7: a seven head. They could wish him dead. Two people
- 19:21Speaker 7: could have tried to shoot him. You know the double
- 19:25Speaker 7: standard we are. We have crossed the line unfortunately to cibility.
- 19:30Speaker 7: And I don't care. The President is right. If you're
- 19:35Speaker 7: giving a punch, you have to be willing to take that.
- 19:37Speaker 2: All right, that's a good way to put it. Let's
- 19:39Speaker 2: go to Jerry and Greenwich. Jerry, how you doing.
- 19:42Speaker 4: I'm very well. Thank you, Mark, thank you for taking
- 19:45Speaker 4: my call. I would like to know why Fox puts
- 19:49Speaker 4: all the words jes my protest on the television. They're
- 19:53Speaker 4: making her a household name.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I mean that every news outlet's do it. It's news.
- 19:59Speaker 2: They covered news.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:02Speaker 2: But also she's kind of stupid and goofy and silly.
- 20:06Speaker 2: It's fun to talk about her. It makes the Democrats
- 20:08Speaker 2: look bad too, to have this I know.
- 20:11Speaker 4: That they tried to talk a bit about her, but
- 20:14Speaker 4: you know it's they make another household name.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Well, you know one thing about that Fox News, it's
- 20:19Speaker 2: number one. It gets more viewers than MSNBC, CNN, Calbert Kimmel,
- 20:24Speaker 2: everybody combined. It's very successful. So I think they know
- 20:27Speaker 2: what they're doing. I think whatever the formula is, it's working.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 20:34Speaker 8: Good morning malk, Good morning Mara. Unfortunately, at the expense
- 20:38Speaker 8: of his parents' lives, this kid Nick will finally get straight. Unfortunately,
- 20:45Speaker 8: during the course of my life, I've known a lot
- 20:48Speaker 8: of junkies who will like Nick. Look at Twainne Dolbman.
- 20:52Speaker 8: How many times excuse me, Greg Albman, how many times
- 20:56Speaker 8: was he in reheab? I think seventeen times and seventeen times.
- 21:00Speaker 8: Failed junkies like this kid. That's the only way they
- 21:05Speaker 8: get straight. This kid is going to be in prison
- 21:07Speaker 8: for the rest of his life for a mental institution.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Now.
- 21:10Speaker 8: Unfortunately, uh fortunately for him and unfortunately for his parents,
- 21:17Speaker 8: he'll get straight. I've known a lot of people like that.
- 21:19Speaker 8: I knew a woman who used to beg the cops
- 21:23Speaker 8: to arrest her son. He was such a degenerate junkie.
- 21:28Speaker 8: That being said, Mark, I have to say Trumps should
- 21:31Speaker 8: have been above the fray. He should have just just said,
- 21:35Speaker 8: my condolences go out to the family. I don't care
- 21:38Speaker 8: whether it's filter or no filter, Sinatra or not Sinatra.
- 21:42Speaker 8: In my opinion, that's low rent exactly.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Of course, of course your low rent. Of course you said,
- 21:49Speaker 2: of course, but it's ten years now. You got to
- 21:51Speaker 2: remember going to be above the fray.
- 21:54Speaker 8: It's not gonna we understand, we understand what Rob Branan did,
- 21:59Speaker 8: but this is your talking about a kid, a father
- 22:02Speaker 8: and a mother that just got That's all I want
- 22:07Speaker 8: to say to me.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Be honest, though, your worst enemy ever in the world,
- 22:12Speaker 2: the guy that did Morris said more horrible things. The
- 22:14Speaker 2: worst enemy. He's dead. Somebody tells you, don't you say good,
- 22:18Speaker 2: I'm glad he did something.
- 22:19Speaker 8: No, you don't. As a Catholic, and I haven't been.
- 22:25Speaker 8: My mother would always would say, show you above the fray.
- 22:30Speaker 8: Show you not, as we say in Italian Oh Cafe,
- 22:33Speaker 8: Franks are not for doing what he did. That was also,
- 22:37Speaker 8: in my opinion, that was a low rack.
- 22:39Speaker 2: No, you're right of course you're right. But some guys
- 22:41Speaker 2: don't want to be above the fray. They want to
- 22:43Speaker 2: be the fray.
- 22:44Speaker 8: They when he did that, how many of this detractors said,
- 22:50Speaker 8: you see, I told you. That's all I want to say.
- 22:52Speaker 8: Thanks Fox, All.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Right, Vincent, of course you're right. Thanks for calling.
- 22:56Speaker 8: Hey.
- 22:56Speaker 2: When we come back, Rhnda Sheer will be with us now.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I'm sure she knew Rob Reiner in all her Hollywood years.
- 23:01Speaker 2: We'll ask her about that and a lot of other stuff.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Bill O'Reilly not here today. He'll be here tomorrow. He
- 23:06Speaker 2: had a switch day, so he'll be here tomorrow. But
- 23:08Speaker 2: we'll get to run to Shear next on seven ten
- 23:11Speaker 2: wr Mark Simone Wr Well, rondare you know she's back
- 23:20Speaker 2: with the up all night? It's better than ever. And
- 23:22Speaker 2: of course Ronda shere the fashion queen, fashion Empire. You
- 23:26Speaker 2: go to Rhondasheer dot com and of course follow her
- 23:30Speaker 2: on Instagram and the Twitter and all of that. Rhonda Shear,
- 23:32Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 23:34Speaker 9: I am disturbed, but I'm I'm really fine. I'm taking
- 23:38Speaker 9: a little winter vacation in North Carolina right now, in
- 23:41Speaker 9: the mountains, so.
- 23:43Speaker 10: Away from the crazy.
- 23:44Speaker 9: But I do have to talk to you about this
- 23:46Speaker 9: whole murder, It's horrible. I I really feel like you
- 23:53Speaker 9: can't fix a child like that. And I wonder if
- 23:56Speaker 9: a lot of times that Rob Reiner's just wrapped and
- 24:00Speaker 9: the Trump talk was his own distraction away from the
- 24:04Speaker 9: mental illness and the problems that that child had from
- 24:06Speaker 9: the time he was a child. Because you know, they
- 24:09Speaker 9: threw a lot of money at it, obviously, and they
- 24:11Speaker 9: do what Hollywood people do and put him in rehab.
- 24:14Speaker 9: There's no fixing him. If you looked at him in
- 24:17Speaker 9: the many many interviews that he had with his dad,
- 24:21Speaker 9: especially when they were promoting the film Charlie, his eyes
- 24:26Speaker 9: darting around, and the way he looked at his father
- 24:29Speaker 9: with disdain. I mean, I think that he was very,
- 24:32Speaker 9: very jealous of his dad. He couldn't live up, you know,
- 24:36Speaker 9: to his siblings and or his father's success. Well, a
- 24:39Speaker 9: lot of that happens and the Hollywood. You've heard a
- 24:41Speaker 9: lot of these kids even committing suicide that couldn't live
- 24:44Speaker 9: up to their parents' fame. And I think that he totally,
- 24:47Speaker 9: you know, couldn't live up to it. Turned to drugs
- 24:50Speaker 9: at a very very young age and addictive personality.
- 24:54Speaker 10: The thing is that parents.
- 24:55Speaker 9: And I've had this discussion with so many people, you know,
- 24:57Speaker 9: I do a podcast and parents, you know, they see it,
- 25:01Speaker 9: but they don't want to put their kid away. And yeah,
- 25:04Speaker 9: he should have been in a mental institution if they
- 25:06Speaker 9: have any of those anymore, but who's going to admit that.
- 25:10Speaker 9: So they feel like if they kept him close, brought
- 25:11Speaker 9: him to the parties, that's why he was at that
- 25:13Speaker 9: party in a hoodie and bringing him there. They want
- 25:16Speaker 9: him close. They know they want him close and nearby,
- 25:20Speaker 9: and that that family was a very close knit family.
- 25:22Speaker 9: But he was very damaged, very damaged, and probably very violent.
- 25:27Speaker 10: I have a little bit of that.
- 25:28Speaker 9: I actually have somebody in my own family, not violent,
- 25:31Speaker 9: but similar kind of story that still lives with you know.
- 25:34Speaker 9: Actually my brother's son in his forties still lives at
- 25:36Speaker 9: home and has you know, just been very damaged and
- 25:40Speaker 9: there's no fixing it. It's very sad and what do
- 25:43Speaker 9: you do now? Because he is or those people can
- 25:47Speaker 9: not only hurt themselves and or hurt others. But these
- 25:50Speaker 9: are the people we read about later on the commit
- 25:52Speaker 9: mass murders and shootings or what have you. But this
- 25:55Speaker 9: is just you know, beyond tragedy, and I looked up
- 25:58Speaker 9: because the curiosity in terms of who the murders of
- 26:02Speaker 9: all the murders of the past in Hollywood, just in murders,
- 26:05Speaker 9: There's no doubt Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle are
- 26:08Speaker 9: the most famous, most iconic of all. I mean, yes,
- 26:12Speaker 9: there was you know, Sharon Tate, you know, going back,
- 26:15Speaker 9: there was ah, you know, different murders of the years,
- 26:17Speaker 9: but nobody of this. This is this is beyond shocking.
- 26:20Speaker 9: And we're going to hear about this for a long
- 26:22Speaker 9: long time. But will it change anything with these kids,
- 26:26Speaker 9: especially kids of Hollywood, not especially, but it should shine
- 26:29Speaker 9: a be light on it, and it won't.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but friends of the family say either were They
- 26:34Speaker 2: don't want to describe it or talk about it, but
- 26:35Speaker 2: they said they were earlier violent incidents.
- 26:38Speaker 9: So yeah, well yes all the way. Since I mean
- 26:42Speaker 9: I was reading about the yoga instruction. My mom had
- 26:44Speaker 9: him as a child, going to yoga and she would
- 26:46Speaker 9: teach them acrobatics and and but she could tell even
- 26:50Speaker 9: as a child.
- 26:51Speaker 10: I mean, let's face it, mental illness.
- 26:53Speaker 9: You know, you can be born with mental illness, you know,
- 26:57Speaker 9: and and then how it manifest of course, then taking drugs,
- 27:01Speaker 9: and he was drugged up on he admittedly on cocaine
- 27:05Speaker 9: and heroin, and he had violent incidents at the house
- 27:07Speaker 9: where he he crashed his hand for a TV set.
- 27:10Speaker 9: I mean, who and didn't even remember it.
- 27:13Speaker 10: So it is curious.
- 27:14Speaker 9: You brought up the timeline about the hotel and I
- 27:17Speaker 9: had read that, but I thought that was before the murders.
- 27:19Speaker 9: But they say he checked into the hotel before the murders.
- 27:22Speaker 9: So where was the blood? Was he trying to self
- 27:24Speaker 9: harm himself that law come out?
- 27:26Speaker 4: Oh?
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no it was. It was the night of
- 27:27Speaker 2: the party. It was before the murder, the.
- 27:29Speaker 10: Night of the party. So was he trying to slit
- 27:31Speaker 10: his own resks? He probably?
- 27:32Speaker 9: I mean, you can't be and you can't we can't
- 27:35Speaker 9: be rationalized or rationalize it because we can't think like him,
- 27:39Speaker 9: because there is no rationalizing, especially if he did end
- 27:41Speaker 9: up during drugs that night and at the party. I'm sure,
- 27:45Speaker 9: I'm sure that went on. They say it went on
- 27:46Speaker 9: the sets. And Rob Royner and his wife were loving, loving,
- 27:50Speaker 9: loving people in terms of family, I'm not talking about
- 27:53Speaker 9: the politics. I know about all the politics, but you know,
- 27:56Speaker 9: they were loving, kept their kids really close, were great parents,
- 28:00Speaker 9: But what do you do with a son that you know,
- 28:02Speaker 9: or a daughter or a child that you know his issues,
- 28:05Speaker 9: but you don't want to believe that he could kill
- 28:07Speaker 9: anyone at her himself. And that's why they had him
- 28:10Speaker 9: living there probably or kill you, you know. I mean
- 28:14Speaker 9: it is It is just very eye opening and and it.
- 28:18Speaker 10: Is partially what's going on.
- 28:19Speaker 9: The drugs have gotten stronger, the video games have gotten
- 28:24Speaker 9: you know, crazier and more violence. I think these kids
- 28:26Speaker 9: these mass shootings, think they're acting out on video games,
- 28:30Speaker 9: you know, Charlie Christ shooter. I really it's just I know,
- 28:33Speaker 9: I'm more serious today, but very deeply disturbed.
- 28:36Speaker 10: I did not know Rob Reiner. I knew everybody an.
- 28:39Speaker 9: I worked with Teddy Marshall, I worked with all those people.
- 28:41Speaker 10: I knew his dad.
- 28:42Speaker 9: I mean not well, but I you know, had my
- 28:45Speaker 9: early sitcom h stints out in LA like Happy Days.
- 28:48Speaker 9: That was a whole group normally, you know, normally all
- 28:50Speaker 9: those people were really close friends, but it never actually met.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I used to talk to Rob Reiner a lot. Will
- 28:58Speaker 2: you always talk about old comedians and old show business?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's amazing, very warm, warm, yes. Love. So
- 29:05Speaker 2: how does the guy. That's sweet, that warm. How does
- 29:07Speaker 2: it become such a crazy hate filed you know when
- 29:11Speaker 2: it comes to politics. How does that work?
- 29:12Speaker 9: Well, I can tell you I have one in my
- 29:14Speaker 9: own family. So you talked about this. We all came
- 29:17Speaker 9: from the same family for siblings, and I have an
- 29:19Speaker 9: older brother who writes me the most vitriolic words that
- 29:25Speaker 9: you can't even I mean tearing, like gut wrenching, knife
- 29:28Speaker 9: turning words about me and my husband. And then my
- 29:31Speaker 9: husband turned me into you know, Republican and a trunk fan.
- 29:34Speaker 10: I mean just but that's.
- 29:35Speaker 9: Nothing I mean, but the words that come out of
- 29:37Speaker 9: his mouth. And we were my family, oh my gosh,
- 29:41Speaker 9: the most loving, loving family. And I also think though
- 29:43Speaker 9: my brother's the one who has the son who's got problems?
- 29:47Speaker 9: Is it or was it a distraction for Rob Reiner
- 29:52Speaker 9: to then turn to politics to kind of like not,
- 29:55Speaker 9: I mean, you can't what do you do with that son?
- 29:57Speaker 9: It's almost his own distraction, Like they were saying, is
- 30:00Speaker 9: it a disraction that Trump was, you know, came out
- 30:03Speaker 9: with this Twitter because of all the other stuff that
- 30:05Speaker 9: he's going on. You don't know, We don't know, because
- 30:08Speaker 9: we think like rational people.
- 30:09Speaker 2: You and I Rob Ryder did a lot of political
- 30:12Speaker 2: work for many many years, did good work for you know,
- 30:16Speaker 2: money for kids programs, and he worked with the governor
- 30:18Speaker 2: and very fine political work.
- 30:20Speaker 9: But he also took off for the whole Charlie Christing,
- 30:23Speaker 9: he I mean I read about that.
- 30:24Speaker 10: He was Charlie Kirk.
- 30:26Speaker 4: I'm so sorry.
- 30:27Speaker 9: I'm so sorry I got to got I'm thinking of
- 30:29Speaker 9: Florida politics right now, So sorry about that. But yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 9: I'm so disturbed today, I can't think. But yes, Charlie
- 30:34Speaker 9: Kirk that he took up that and was like very
- 30:39Speaker 9: spoke about Erica and how she forgave the killer, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 9: because he's just a very forgiven person. So he did
- 30:45Speaker 9: not put it down when it came to that, when
- 30:47Speaker 9: it came to murder, or when it came to family,
- 30:50Speaker 9: he put the politics beside.
- 30:52Speaker 10: He did have that other side.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Well, how come when he talked about Trump he would
- 30:56Speaker 2: go into such a.
- 30:57Speaker 9: Rage because I'm telling you, my own brother been born
- 31:00Speaker 9: in the same household, had the same parents. Why does
- 31:02Speaker 9: my brother like that. I'm sure all of us know
- 31:04Speaker 9: people that at some point were very rational. Well, if
- 31:07Speaker 9: I send you one email from my brother, you'd go, oh,
- 31:10Speaker 9: m rage and by the way, all the time, all
- 31:13Speaker 9: the time.
- 31:13Speaker 10: I finally need to block him from everything. But he
- 31:15Speaker 10: does have a son who is disturbed. I have a
- 31:18Speaker 10: nephew that lives at home in his forties.
- 31:20Speaker 9: No, I mean I laugh about it because but it's
- 31:22Speaker 9: very very It's creepy because you're like, how do we
- 31:25Speaker 9: how are we raised in the same household, have the
- 31:27Speaker 9: same parents, and where does this vitriolic these words, these
- 31:32Speaker 9: incredible language come from. I mean, like just trying to
- 31:35Speaker 9: take I mean, it's like hard to believe. But I
- 31:37Speaker 9: just think we've seen a lot of that on social media,
- 31:40Speaker 9: that people feel like they can hide behind words now
- 31:42Speaker 9: and not act it out where we just saw it
- 31:44Speaker 9: acted out in real time.
- 31:45Speaker 10: It's just very horrible. I didn't mean to bring this up.
- 31:48Speaker 9: I have to talk about it because it is like
- 31:50Speaker 9: shocking and beyond.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I hate to say that we're out of time already.
- 31:53Speaker 2: It went by really fast, but tell us what.
- 31:55Speaker 9: Okay, but you do have to watch on a much
- 31:58Speaker 9: higher note, Happy your note and a comedy note. My
