Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of Crusholds.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: This is a podcast where we turn pain into power, trauma into triumph, and a place where we get to expose the lies of the enemy.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: And I bet you're wondering how we do that.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: We do that by equipping believers in the grace and the faith and the truth and the love of Jesus Christ.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And also through testimony.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: When people share their testimony on how they crush strongholds and they just cremate the devil, it is such an amazing um opportunity to overcome obstacles in your life by just kicking the enemy to the curb.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And that's what this podcast is all about.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: That's truly the heart of this podcast.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And today I'm super excited.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I have a guest, and um you're gonna love her because she's wonderful.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: She has such a sweet and kind spirit.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Um I love her messages, and um, she's she's definitely a humble woman of faith, and I love that she is not afraid to share her faith at all.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: She's bold, bold, y'all.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Y'all need to listen to her.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Um, her name is Nisi Mathis, and she is a podcaster, and she also she's very busy, by the way.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: She's a very, very, very multi-talented woman.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Um, she does real estate, and she also runs a in-home daycare for the little people, which is so adorable.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I absolutely love that.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: But on top of that, not only that, but she's a mother, she's a wife, and um she has five children, which is wonderful.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And um some of her greatest accomplishments in her life are um homeschooling her children, which I think is actually wonderful in this day and age.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I think we need to be homeschooling kids.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: And um, as a hobby, she likes to garden.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: And so that's probably some great peaceful downtime in the backyard.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: So let's all welcome in Necy Mathis, y'all.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And I want her to come in and introduce herself and tell you um about herself.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: So, Nisi, welcome.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much, Mickey.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: I really do appreciate the invite.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love to punch the devil in his face, kick him in his teeth.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: So when you invited me and just the name of the podcast itself got me really, really excited.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Um, so there's nothing I love to do more than to share testimony.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: On my podcast, it's pretty much the same thing.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Different words, but pretty much the same thing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Um, our motto is we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: It's an atmosphere of transparency.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: And so I feel right at home today.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: I feel like I'm gonna be able to stretch out a little bit and I'm very, very excited, a little bit nervous to share just because sometimes what I'm comfortable sharing makes other people uncomfortable.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: But to me, it's kind of worth it.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: I feel like if God hadn't allowed people like that in my life, then I would not have come out of great darkness.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: I would not have so much fire.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think it's important to pass this on to the next generation or to baby Christians who are coming right behind us.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: So thank you so much for inviting me on your podcast.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to hear your story, and um I I I haven't heard it yet, but I have listened to um your podcasts, and you you have a great, a great way with words.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And I could just like I like we were talking before we started recording, is your your spirit, your holy spirit is so open, you can just feel God's presence when you're talking.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And so I'm so excited for you to share because I I can't wait for the listeners to to get to have what I've already what I've already listened to with you, and I can't wait to share it because it's wonderful.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And so um when we talk about crushing strongholds, we want um, we just want to just tear the enemy down, and we don't know how to do that sometimes because we get stuck in um the pit basically.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: And there's two types of pit.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: There's one where we could go, and that there's just one that we're stuck in.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Um, but God has a a purpose on our life, and we forget to take that into account.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Like, we have an assignment, he equipped us, and we are called, and we are destined.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And like I all get so excited going into this because it's like, oh my gosh, God has so much planned for me, and I've just been sitting over here in the corner feeling sorry for myself because of the life I went through.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: And so I'm super excited that you're here, and I cannot wait for your testimony.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And I just hope that people get um they get a chance to break free.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: And and I I can't wait for them just to see the love and the faith that you have in your heart.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: So if you want, you can share your story with us now because I can't wait to hear it.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: All right, all right.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: So um I started out as a Seven-day Adventist.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: I was born into a Christian family.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: And um, if anyone knows anything about the Seven-day Adventist faith, um, very legalistic, very by the book.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Um, I remember we couldn't be out on Friday night, so there was no sports for me, no football games, no basketball games, things of that nature.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: And so I never really developed a relationship with God Himself.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I kind of saw him as this big huge judge that um really didn't care anything for me.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: He just cared about his rules, and I didn't really want to get to know him.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Like I just didn't want to get to know him.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: He was scary.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: I didn't want to, I didn't want to, yeah, I didn't want anything to do with him.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: But um, even though I went to a church that didn't really operate in any giftings, there was no tongues, there was no none of those extra things.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Those were the fun things.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: There was no fun things at that church.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: I had gifts, talents, abilities that I felt like I could not talk to my family about because I was scared that I was going to be uh put into a white jacket, hands tied behind my back, and I was going to be shipped off to the nearest insane asylum in line with other girls taking medications who were banging their heads against the wall and talking crazy to baby dolls.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: I didn't want to be that.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: So I never told my parents that I could see things that other people could not see, and that I could hear things that other people could not hear.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: And so the enemy could see my destiny, he could see what I was called to do, he could see my gift of discernment.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Um, and he tried to instill fear into me at a very, very young age by showing me all of the wrong sides of the spirit realm and scaring me with all kinds of encounters that were just traumatizing for a young child who's seeing something.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: And you know the cartoons that show the little kids that are had seeing the monster under the bed, and neither one of the parents, you know, are acknowledging that there's a monster in there because they can't see it.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: That was me, but with a spiritual twist to it, right?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: And so um when I turned 11, I audibly heard the voice of the Lord in a service.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: So these two young, crazy pastors came down from a college that was affiliated with our church, and they preached the house down.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: The sermons were so good, they did a whole tent effort for a whole week, and it was really, really good.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: And so on this particular night, the minister preached about John the Baptist.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: Not John the Baptist, he preached about Jonah.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: I called him John the Baptist, that's why I said John the Baptist.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: But he preached about Jonah, and I knew that that was God speaking to me, saying that I had been running from him.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: And so the minister made an altar call, and I hear this voice get up, come down front and give your life to me.
- 8:00unknown: Right.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Stop talking to me.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: You're gonna make my mama think I'm crazy.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: Stop talking to me.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: Get up, come give your life to me.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Now, me and this voice are in my head having a full-blown argument.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: First of all, I told you, shut up talking to me.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Like, why are you talking to me?
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: And I'm crying because does nobody hear this voice that's talking to me?
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: And so my mom sees me and she's like, Do you want to give your life to Jesus?
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: And I'm thinking, no, because he's he's talking to me.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: And I ended up going down, giving my life to Christ, and I ended up being baptized later on that day.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Nobody under nobody explained what the commitment I was making.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Nobody explained what baptism really truly meant.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Um, I only did it because the voice told me to.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: And so after being baptized, there was no Bible study for me.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: I'm not in my word every day, I'm not praying on a consistent basis.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: And by the time I am 16, I'm still hearing voices.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: I'm still living a very lukewarm lifestyle.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: My parents are um separated together, separated together.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: We're moving in, we're moving out, we're moving in, we're moving out, and it's just total chaos.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm all of this comes to a point.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm getting somewhere with this.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: All right, here we go.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: So I get pregnant with my first child as a freshman in college.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: I picked the school that my parents went to because it was a school that they would let me go to, but also because it was seven hours away from home.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Deuces.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: I'm about to be everything that I wasn't allowed to be growing up.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: I'm about to wear pants, I'm about to wear makeup, I'm getting my first sewing, weaving my hair.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Um I'm part, we, I, I part, so I did a double major.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: I majored in biology and chemistry because I've known since I was five years old that I wanted to be a doctor.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: But you can't be a double major and have a party lifestyle.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: And so um I'm partying every weekend, I'm partying uh multiple days out of the week.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: I'm I lost my virginity, I'm sleeping with everybody, like I'm doing the do.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: I'm doing everything.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: And so my biology and chemistry professor is also the head of an organization called NAPS.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: And this organization is an organization that travels to Africa twice a year to build homes for the homeless and to preach the gospel and to do AIDS and HIV education to as many countries as they can get into.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: And so when I first joined the organization, I was on fire.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: I was at every meeting, I did my first fast with them.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: It was amazing.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: And then I just stopped coming because you know, you can't come to a 4 a.m.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: prayer when you've been up till two o'clock in the morning, partying and getting your groove on.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Like it just they don't match.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: And so one day he sits me down in his office and he's like, I want to show you a picture.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: This is a little girl that we ministered to in Africa, where you're supposed to go.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: And so he shows me this picture of this beautiful little girl.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: She's so bright, she's smiling, her teeth are white, she's you know, cleaned up, oiled up, well dressed, all the things.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: He said, he puts another picture down in front of me.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: This is how she was when we first met her.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: They look like two completely different people.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: He's showing me a picture, but just like you said, that you can feel the atmosphere of where I am.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: You could feel that the Holy Spirit is in the room because of the way that I carry myself and the way that I talk.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Well, I could feel the atmosphere of the picture, and I could looking at the picture, I can tell that this girl is demon-possessed.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Now, I don't know about my giftings, I don't know about church stuff like that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know how to explain to you how I knew, but I just know the Holy Spirit told me in that moment this girl was demon-possessed.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: And the professor says, When I first met you, you were the first picture.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: But when I look at you now, you're this picture.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: And so here I am, 19 years old, pregnant with my first child, and don't know that I'm pregnant.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Come from a family full of divorce, full of women that have very rebellious, obstinate spirits, they don't stay married for long.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: Um, a lot of women who are depressed and have mental illnesses.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Um my relationship with my father was very estranged.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Um they said that he was undiagnosed bipolar, and you could see the night and day, the dark and light.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: You could see all of it, right?
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: And so I have all of this in the back of my mind, and I'm hearing voices on top of all of it.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: And so from the moment my daughter was born, I knew that God gave her to me in order to save my life.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: If it had not been for me becoming a mother and not just any kind of mama, because my mother did not help.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Like she helped, but only when she felt like it.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: So it wasn't no still continuing the party lifestyle.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: You know, I had to get a job during daycare hours, you know, all those things.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: I had to take care of what I had done, is what was said to me.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: And that saved my life because now I have someone to live for.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: And I'm not gonna just tear up my life knowing that I have someone to live for.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: And so I ended up naming my first daughter Cherish because I was asked that question that everybody is asked, do you want to keep it?
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: And when my mom took me to my very first prenatal appointment and I had the ultrasound, I knew as soon as I looked at the ultrasound that I was having a girl.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: The Lord just told me she's a girl.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: And I knew when I was three months pregnant with her that her name was cherished because I cherished life and loving her saved me.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: So married the wrong person.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: You know what happens when you marry the wrong person, and so all of these different traumas are feeding into this one stronghold of mental illness, this one stronghold that has so many different um results.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: Kids out of wedlock, STIs, STDs, um, drinking, smoking, smoking weed, um, partying, all of these different lifestyles stem back to this one stronghold of mental illness and depression.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: And God doesn't deliver me in one moment.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: My daughter, um my daughter turns on a sermon one day, and the pastor is preaching on emotional trauma, and he says something that changed my life and changed everything.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Like that is the start of who I am now.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: He said, You think that your emotions are yours, you think that when you're having these thoughts, these thoughts are coming from you.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: He said, I want to submit to you today that the voices in your head are not from the Lord.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, or somebody, somebody said that that these voices in my head are real, and so um we always memorized scripture growing up, and so a lot of times the Holy Spirit will speak to me using scripture because of the voices that were in my head in the beginning, right?
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: And so that would be the way that I could tell his voice from all the other voices.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: And so after listening to this man preach, and I don't even remember his name, I heard my sheep know my voice.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: And so I'm going to turn there John chapter ten.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: There's a verse that says that my sheep know my voice and a stranger's they will not follow.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: That's the verse that I'm really trying to find and cannot find in this moment.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: But that verse really sent me after God with everything.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: Like it broke something on the inside of me.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: It was the beginning of the crushing of the stronghold in my mind as far as my mental health.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: For the word of God to validate that there were voices that I was hearing, not make me seem like I was crazy, um, and give me a way out, a way to kind of in the spirit realm turn the volume down on these other voices.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: And so I asked the Lord a question, and I was just like, How do I make your voice louder than their voices?
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: How do I make their voices shut up?
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Like, so good.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And so um, that's when he um showed me 2 Corinthians chapter 10.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: And when he first taught these verses to me, he made it so simple.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: Um, people think that I'm like a whole genius and that I came up with this method on my own.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: I did not.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: But for a long time, God gave me this very simple method of interviewing each and every thought and each and every emotion to see where it was coming from and decide whether I was going to keep it or if I was going to toss it.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: So 2 Corinthians chapter 10, verse 3 says, We are human, but we don't wage war as humans do.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: We use God's mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: So when the Holy Spirit first introduced these verses to me, he said, keep it simple.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: This is what I want you to do.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: Capture, throw it away.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm a visual person.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: So when he said capture, I'm thinking of each thought throwing in.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I'm not good at tennis, I'm not good at baseball, I'm not good at none of these things because we wasn't allowed to go out anywhere on Friday nights.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: But he was like, No, seriously, capture and throw them away.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: And so I would get hit with a feeling first thing in the morning, I'm angry.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Where did that come from?
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Capture, throw it away.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: All of a sudden, I got an attitude with my husband.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, where did that come from?
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: I love that big old beast of a person.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: And I know he loved me.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Where did this come from?
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Capture and throw it away.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: And then as I matured, you know, bigger demons come later.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: You know, once you once you get to knocking the little ones in the teeth, now those the stronger ones come.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: They they bring their cousins in them, right?
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: And so I was having to dig into these scriptures a lot more.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: So my pastor, Pastor Other of Lineheart Church in Austell, Atlanta metro area, Georgia, he describes it in a way that I shouldn't even try to reinvent it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: I just should repeat what he says.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: So you know those cartoons where you have the angel on one shoulder and you have the demon on the other shoulder.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: And so the cartoons always depend.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Depicted as they're arguing with each other and you sitting there in the middle trying to figure out who you want to listen to.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: That is not how the enemy talks to us.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: The enemy is so cunning and he is so subtle.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: He's been using deception since the Garden of Eden, right?
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: And so he does the same thing with us because we've only been here for 40 years, 30 years, 20 years.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: He's been here for 6,000 years and counting, right?
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: And we don't know how long he was there before you know creation started.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: So the enemy will sit on your shoulder and you'll be having a good day.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: I sure don't know what I'm gonna do about this bill that's coming up.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: There sure is nothing in the account.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: I don't like the way she's chewing her food.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: Oh Lord.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Talking in first person that it's you that is coming from inside of you.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: But he's not, he is not you, right?
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: And so um Philippians, I think it's chapter four, tells us to think on those things that are lovely, think on those things that are pure, think on those things that are of a good report.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: If there be any virtue, if there be anything worthy of praise, these are the things that we should think on.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Well, when I start making that an active thing, because as Christians, we're lazy.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: We like to listen to good sermons, and then we like to go out to eat, and then we like to come home and watch our favorite TV shows.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: We don't like to actually get in the word and start applying these verses to our everyday emotions, everyday battles, and stuff like that.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: So I started pinpointing what the enemy was targeting.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: There was a season where he was targeting my marriage and my thoughts towards my husband.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: I went to the scriptures, I found me four or five verses to think on these things about.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: And I started using those as ammunition.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Did it come from these verses?
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Does it sound like these verses?
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I reject that.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: I reject this feeling.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: Father, cause my feelings to line up with your word.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: You said that um his heart does safely rest in me.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: He has peace with me.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: All of these things, and now I'm saying those things.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: So that's that was the tactic.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: So you capture it, you capture the thought, you interview the thought, and then when it doesn't match the word of God, you actually have to speak the word of God and then throw the thought away.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: For a long time, I kept trying to have this mental battle in my head.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: And one of the reasons why I'm so bold now is because if I can talk to the devil crazy, then I, you know.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: You can handle anyone.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: I feel sorry if you have skin and bones and muscle and stuff.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: You don't stand a chance.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: No, I'm just but but I had to I had to audibly speak.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: So I'm I teach kids to do this in deliverance.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: When kids come in for deliverance, we go through what the word says and then we go through what they're feeling and thinking, and we identify, oh, this came from the enemy.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: This is not lined up according to the word.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: And then, okay, every attitude you have for your mama when your mama told you to clean your room, that's I need you to talk to the devil, right?
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Because one day I was, I wasn't feeling it, right?
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: And I was battling and stuff.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: I wasn't feeling it, and I'm laying in bed.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: I was like, Lord, I just love my husband, and I'm so grateful you gave him to me.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: And I literally heard the devil, like, really, I'm supposed to believe that.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: That's how you're supposed to make me leave.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: I sat up like, oh, we talk, we're talking to each other now.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: And okay, from now on, when I answer, it's gonna be with Memphis, Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Cali, Germany, everything, every hood I've ever lived in is getting ready to come out when I'm talking to the devil.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: Because when I talk to you, it's gonna be on the authority in the name of Jesus.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: They're not scared of me as a person.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: But this is the one time I get to have an attitude and get away with it.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: And so for years, um just breaking through um depression, um, breaking through being abandoned by my father.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: When I was 14, um, my father um had hit me in my mouth.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: My mom asked him about it, and it started this huge war in our house.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: And I wasn't always honest growing up.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: And so my mom came and picked me up from school to bring me home to this argument.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: And she was like, no matter what happens, you need to tell the truth.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: And so I did tell the truth, but it wasn't the truth that he wanted to hear because it wasn't the truth that painted him in the right light, you know.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: And so he was so angry, he began to like break things in the house.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: He was throwing stuff at me.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: And he, before he walks out the house, because no matter what, I wasn't, he he hit me in the mouth.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: So I told my mom that he hit me in the mouth.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: And he left the house, and he's before he left the house, he says, I'm so disappointed in you.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: That's the first word.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: That was the first part of the stronghold.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: 14 years old.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: This is where mental illness entered into my life, depression entered into my life.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: So I'm so disappointed into you.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: First word curse.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: I disown you.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: That's the second word curse, right?
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: From here on out, you're dead to me.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Your mother has a daughter, but I don't have a daughter.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: And so when we're facing rejection and abandonment and not being wanted, and the person who's supposed to love us saying things like that of that nature.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Now, that wasn't my father talking.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: I know that now.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: I didn't know that then.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Now I know that that was an unclean spirit.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: I've heard him talk in other people's mouths, right?
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: I've heard him talk in other people's lives.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: I know what he sounds like.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Um, but those fractures to our soul open us up, and we can make the fracture worse by not forgiving the person.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: So not only am I traumatized by the episode, I got physically abused.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: I got verbally and mentally abused.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: Um, and now um as I went through, remember, I told you I went as far away from home as I could go.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: So I got far away.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: And the reason why I was running that hard was because I was trying to get away from the parent that I refused to forgive.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: I refused to forgive him, even when he took us on family vacations, even when he came back home, even when he apologized.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: And unforgiveness is a stronghold in my dad's side of the family.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: When I say that side of the family knows how to hold a grudge, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 years grudge, but unforgiveness, uh, Matthew chapter 18, the parable of the unforgiving servant, there's a verse in there that helped me in my forgiveness journey.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Because there's more than just one thing that we end up having to forgive people about.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: So in the parable of the unjust judge, uh, Matthew 18, 21, unforgiving um servant, one servant is forgiven, owing a king millions, if not billions, of dollars.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: And then you skip down a couple of verses, and his best friend, his homeboy, another servant, owes him about two to three thousand dollars.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: And this servant gets so mad that he choke holds this other servant.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: He grabs him by the throat, the word says.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: And he demands that this man is arrested until he can pay the debt.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: So in verse 31, all the other servants tell on him.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: They're like, You forgave this homeboy right here, millions, if not billions of dollars.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: This other servant owed him a couple thousand dollars, and he is tripping.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: And then the king calls him into account.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: So verse 32 says, Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, You evil servant.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: First of all, I don't need God calling me evil.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: I don't need that in my life.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: But you evil servant, I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: Shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I've had mercy on you?
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: So in deliverance circles, we are encouraged in that verse, verse 34, to dig into the Hebrew version of that word.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: And the word in the King James Version is tormentors.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: So it turns you over to the tormentors to be tortured.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: That tormentor is the same word in Hebrew as an unclean or dark spirit.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: So Jesus is here sharing verbally what happens in the spirit realm when we choose not to forgive.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: When we are unforgiving and when we hold on to someone's dead, we open ourselves up to dark and unclean spirits.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: So that woman who is depressed because her dad disowned her, that woman who is depressed because her ex cheated on her, when she refuses to forgive her dad, when she refuses to forgive her ex-husband, she opens herself up to demonic spirits.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Well, what's more torturing and tormenting than hearing voices in your mind?
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: What's more torturing and tormenting than cancer?
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Because unforgiveness has been medically proven to cause cancer in the body from a root of bitterness.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: When the Lord broke open this for me, I was like, well, you know, it's hard to forgive them, but I don't have time not to.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: And so for me, crushing strongholds was two things.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: One, the Lord teaching me to interview each and every thought, each and every emotion, and tossing out the ones that did not come from him, recognizing that I'm always in a state of war because I live in this planet, right?
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: And then, second was weaponizing forgiveness, taking away and stripping every legal right of the enemy to my heart, to my soul, to my mind.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: It is so easy to kick the devil out, to get rid of demonic oppression when you're forgiven.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: When the person is holding on to any part of unforgiveness, that's when you see like the exorcism of Emily Rose or Annabelle or something.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Like you see all of these wild, crazy manifestations.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: And so I know that was a roundabout long crazy story.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: No, it was I think you when you s when you started talking about um the first thing that your dad said um with his words, um, it's crazy because my life, um, I look again, I you know, I can relate with that because I struggled with so many words that were spoken to me from a very early age in my life that um you were you're never gonna measure up, whatever it's never gonna be good enough, you're not smart enough, you're you know, just just yada yada yada yada.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: And what's crazy is that is is they may only tell it tell it to you one or two times, but the devil will tell you over and over and over and over again.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: And as soon as you think, you know, sometimes then you have somebody that comes along and goes, Oh man, that was so great, you did such a good job, and you're like, What?
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: You don't even believe them.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: You don't believe that what they're saying is true because you've been lied to for so long that you can't even even begin to understand what truth is because that lie has been hung over your head.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: And so it it's so hard to break that off when you're used to just being talked to and and like you said, tormented that way.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: And um when when I sat at the feet of Jesus and he literally said, You know, you know, I love you.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: I love you, I love you.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, You do not love me, you know, whatever, you know, like whatever.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: I know you I know you love me when I'm being good, but when I'm having a fit or I'm you know misbehaving or whatever, I'm sure you don't love me then, because no one else loved me when I, you know, made my mistakes, you know.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: And he was like, Nope, wrong answer, still love you, you know.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: And I had to swallow that for the a lot the longest time.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: And the church I was telling you that I went to, my pastor, when I first started going there, he used to tell me all the time, he, you know, he didn't even really know me, but he'd walk by me and he he could see the spirit on me, right?
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: And he'd walk by me, go, woman of God, I love you.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: And I turned around and I said, I like like you, I'm like, I know you ain't talking to me.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Like nobody just says I love you, woman of God, to me.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: Like nobody says that.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: And he every time he saw me, he'd say, I love you.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: And finally I said, you know, I think you're you're a married man.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: Why do you keep telling me you love me?
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: That's wrong.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: Because I'm thinking, I'm thinking the enemy's putting bad thoughts in my head.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: And he said, No, the the word says we are to love one another.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: We are to love one another.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: And it's not a weird, like, you know, intimate that kind of love, but it's a the other kind of intimacy, the agape love, you know.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: And I didn't understand that.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I think your wife's gonna get a little mad you keep telling me you love me, you know.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: And then she would walk up, she goes, No, I ain't mad because I love you too.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, What is wrong with you people?
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: You know, and the next thing I know, half the church is, hey, woman to God, I love you.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: And people could see like chains falling off me because they were loving on me, and my heart started changing, and I started having joy in my life, and I could, I could just like I was opening up to things that I didn't even know I could do because I always felt locked away from love.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: And it was crazy how God just and and that was just one word, you know, just and being unloved was only one word that was spoken over my life.
- 37:03SPEAKER_00: All the other words that I had to filter through and all of the the patterns that are the thoughts in our mind that we have to take captive.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: I I was thinking when you said that about playing the tennis, because when I did my episode on crushing strongholds and what it means, I was thinking of the little kid running around with the butterfly net, like trying to catch the butterflies like I gotta get that thought, I gotta get that thought, where's it at?
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: You know, how am I gonna catch it?
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: That thing's flying too fast, it keeps getting away from me.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: And there's times when I have thoughts come in that literally um um I've allowed it to take captain of my ship.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: It took captivity of me instead of me taking captivity of it.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: And um, God showed me that in a vision.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: He showed me that um he's like, Who's operating your ship?
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Your thoughts are out of control, and you have all these captains running around your ship, and that's why your ship's not going anywhere because nobody knows what they're doing.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: You know, you need to get them thoughts out of your head, you need to take control, you need to get into my word, and you need to start operating in in the word of God and let God be the captain of your ship.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: And he'll start removing those thoughts and helping you recognize them and see them because at first you don't see them.
- 38:08SPEAKER_00: And then when you do kind of see it, then you question it.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: You're like, Well, I don't know, I've you know, I'm I'm pretty sure that I'm still not lovable because I've made mistakes in my life, and God's like, no, wrong answer, wrong answer, that's not acceptable today.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: And it took a lot of that for me to learn how to crush my own strongholds so I can relate exactly with what you're saying, and um, you know, growing up with I you know what I love that you said is how you have the attitude with the devil.
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: That is so good.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: I you know, I think you know, we should have an attitude with the devil.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: You know, he's giving us, you know, instead of giving the attitude to our mom or our dad or or whoever we're throwing our husbands or our children, because we have attitudes with our our family, people that we love, we actually have attitudes toward.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: And we hurt them with our attitudes.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: We don't even realize it's damaging our attitudes because of our pain, it it comes out onto them sometimes.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: But we need to reverse that, like you said, and start taking that attitude, taking it back and giving it to the taking it where it goes.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: Needs to go to the devil.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: So I love that you said that.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: So I thank you for bringing that up because that was such a good point.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: I wanted to go back to um what you said about how even with you, it took you getting into your word.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: For me, that was the most important part.
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: Every single time that I played with that, um, I did not see as much manifestation in my life as I do now.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Um it took, and it this is like a thing for me.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: This is a soapbox for me because I meet countless amounts of parents who come and sign up at Lionheart for their child to have deliverance.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: And when you ask them the first question, how often is your child reading?
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: How often is your child praying?
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: The answer nine times out of ten is they're not.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: And I mean, there has not been one thing that I've been delivered from that God didn't have to give me a rhema word from his logos word, from his written word about.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: So to overcome my feelings of abandonment, the orphan spirit, um, being being rejected by my father, I had to use Psalms 27, 10.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Even if my father and mother abandoned me, the Lord will hold me close.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: Every single time I would be back in conversation with my dad, and he would go back to the old way of doing things and you know, disowning me and all the kind of stuff, having one of his tantrums, this verse would minister to my heart over again.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: Every single time the enemy tried to replay those words in my mind, this verse was what I would use to fight with.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: So if you're not in your word, if you're not in the Bible searching for the answers that speak directly to you, how are you going to overcome any stronghold?
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: This is the only weapon that we have in the armor of God that is an offensive weapon.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: It's the only thing that we have to fight with.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: And I think that especially the Americanized church, we have to go back to a daily habit of um prayer and study, dividing the scriptures, checking to make sure what the pastor preached about on Sunday is the real deal.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: Did he hit it on the head or did he fold it over and make it sound good and touch five people?
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Like what's going on here?
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: And then there's different ways of doing that.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: So, like at our church, we have a Bible in six months um group where they read through the Bible together on a Bible reading plan, and every Tuesday they meet on Zoom to discuss it.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: Um, I know plenty of churches have discipleship groups that read through different things and things of that nature.
- 42:07SPEAKER_01: For me, when I first started, I used the U version of the Bible, and they have that little ticker up in the right-hand corner that tells you how many days you've been in the Word.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: Nothing would hurt my feelings more than make that thing go back down to zero because I had missed it.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Um now I like it.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: Like I never, I think if it I ever skipped a date, I would be so mortally wounded and mortally hurt.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: It's it's like over 1,600 days on there now.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: So to go back down to zero, I would be like so those small motivations.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: I think that heaven smiles at those.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: I think that people think that that's so insignificant and minute, but it's those minute and insignificant things that makes heaven rejoice.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: The Bible says that heaven rejoices when one soul is saved.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: So imagine how heaven feels when you get in your word, even if it's just to keep the ticker from going back down to zero.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: Wherever the motivation's coming from, just get it.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: Get it.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: I didn't realize you version have it.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: Now I'm gonna have to look into that feature because I didn't, you know, because I like to go in there and read some of the plans that they have, like the three-day, the five-day, the seven-day plans, and they have a Bible in one year.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: So my family and I did that together for a couple of years.
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: Then we got into the six months.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: They're still on the six months.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: I'd be trying to read it every quarter.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: So I I try to get through the Bible four times a year now.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: And um it's the it's more important.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: Like we talked about how busy I am as a serial entrepreneur.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: I just learned that that was a word.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: So I have to read as much as possible.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: That's pretty good.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: But there's nothing more important about my day than my Bible reading plan.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: Like, I literally, even when my kids walk in in the morning, or even if there are advent tasks to be done for real estate, it's My Bible verses are not read.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: That's that's what's first.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: And so I know that without it, I'm unarmed.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: I know that without it, I can't hear the voice of the Lord clearly, right?
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: The Bible says, My sheep know my voice.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: We read that verse.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: How do we know the voice of the Lord?
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: Well, we have it something to compare it by.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: A baby spends nine to ten months in the womb before it's born, they're getting fed directly from the mother.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: They're listening to her heartbeat, they're smelling her, they're listening to the her breath sounds, everything.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Well, when they come out, they know by instinct and by experience who their mother is because of all of these familiar things.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: That's why they encourage you to hold the baby to your skin because they can hear your heartbeat, they can smell all the things, they can feel some of the similarities of being inside the womb.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Well, that relationship has to continue.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: If you were to take a baby from its mother, even with all of the experience that it's had in the womb, they still might forget their mother if they never have that connection, if they never have another conversation, if she never holds the baby, all of those things.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, those lifetime movies where the baby is kidnapped, and then later, oh, that's my mommy.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: That is not realistic.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: No, that baby does not know you anymore.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: And that's how it is when we aren't in the word.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: We don't know our father's voice, we don't know his heartbeat, we don't remember what he smells like because we didn't spend time in communion with him.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there's times when um, like I was sharing with you earlier, that um I, you know, I got mad at God and I closed him out.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: And, you know, God God didn't leave me though.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: He didn't leave me.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: He he let me he let me have my tantrum.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: And and and and you know, because he's like, you know, I you know, I still have a purpose for her and she's gonna come back around.
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: But I didn't think I was gonna come back around.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: And it literally took him nudging me and and and and having certain people say certain things to me that would just trigger me to kind of want to go back into, you know, my spirituality and my faith and and stuff.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: And and it's crazy how we blame God for things, and so we'll just turn our back on him in a in an instant because automatically we think it's all God's fault when God has nothing to do with it.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: You know, God had to show me over and over again, you know, um hi what his part was in it.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't to hurt us or destroy us.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: That's not that's not God at all.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: Um, so I I had to sit at his feet and literally, because I was such a Martha, and and I still am.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: I'm like you, I'm busy body, busy body, busy body.
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: And Jesus literally kept saying, I need you to be merry for a little while.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: Just take a take a break.
- 46:59SPEAKER_00: I need you to come and sit down and be merry.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, no, I'm too busy.
- 47:03SPEAKER_00: I got I you know, I'm doing this, I got this, I got all these things going on.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: There's no way I can stop what I'm doing now.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: I'm on roll.
- 47:09SPEAKER_00: And he's like, until you do this, you're gonna just keep going in circles, you're gonna be exhausted, you you don't know what you're doing, your your your thoughts are gonna keep taking control of you.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: You're you're still gonna have the anger and the frustration and the fear and all of the strongholds that I was pulling around with me.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: And not only for myself, but when you have strongholds, sometimes you affect other people.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, you're affecting other people, and it's becoming contagious.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: Now they're acting like you, which you don't ever want when you're acting bad.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: You don't want them to copy that behavior, you know.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: And so Jesus said, I really need you to put the brakes on and have a sit-down and be still.
- 47:45SPEAKER_00: You know, that that scripture, be still, it's so important that people understand it.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean be still forever, you know, because we are to do certain things, but there's times that we we take on more than what God wants us to.
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like the story when we're talking about the cup overflowing.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: Um, God will give us abundance, but there's a time when also God, like when He gives them when they're in the desert, He gives them manna, He gives them what they needed for the day.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: Every day, He gave them manna.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: Every day.
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: He didn't give them here, let me make you enough to where you have to go put it in a storage facility and you know, hang on to it.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: I gave you enough for today.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we we are so busy, we're overfilling ourselves with stuff that God doesn't want us to have.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: He wants us to have what he wants us to have for the day.
- 48:30SPEAKER_00: And God had to show me that, like, you don't need all that, you need to get rid of that, and like the thoughts, you need to get rid of the thoughts, the captivity, get it, get it out of there, and um just take what I have for you.
- 48:42SPEAKER_00: Just take my manna and let's see where that goes.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: And it'll ch it'll change your life.
- 48:47SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's life, it's like it's completely life-reckoning in a good way, you know.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: You're no longer destructive.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: And um, I don't know, you know, I know there's a lot of people that deal with strongholds that were you know have become suicidal.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: That was me.
- 49:02SPEAKER_00: I went through that period where I I I just got in such a dark place that I, you know, I was like, there's no there's no more hope.
- 49:08SPEAKER_00: I just need to not be here anymore, you know.
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: And and God really just sat me down and said, that's enough.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: He's like, that's enough.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: Like when you have your kids thrown a bit, you're like, that is enough.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: So it got so bad.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: I had a Britney Spears moment.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh, yeah.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: I cut all my hair off, balded myself.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: Um I I was suicidal a couple of times.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: I took pills when I was 16.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and even then, God still had the same method.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: So I was 16, I had taken all of these migraine pills, um, trying to overdose, trying to kill myself, because they were prescription.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: I was, you know, hey, they're prescription.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: They must be more powerful than the rest of the stuff I could take.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: And after I did it, I remembered somebody saying in um our the church that we were going to that if you committed suicide, that you would go to hell.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: And so after taking all the pills, I remembered that and I was like, mom, um, help me.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: I just took all these pills.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: And so they made me a mental health appointment at the school the next day.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: And this lady gave me this pill bottle, and in the pill bottle were all these different scriptures.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: And so every time I felt like hurting myself, harming myself, um, my job was to first notify my mom and then um to open up my pill bottle and take my prescription.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: Um and so God tried to teach me that way, but of course that's corny to a 16-year-old.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: So I didn't want to do that.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: Um but you said that when we are going through our strongholds, um, sometimes it begins to affect others and cause them to have them.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: And the word talks about the sins of the fathers being visited upon the third and the fourth generation.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: So the mental illnesses, the emotional imbalances that my grandparents dealt with were visited on me.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: What my dad didn't deal with was visited on me and my children.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: What I didn't deal with was visited on my children.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: And that was another thing that drove me to begin to really break these strongholds.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: Um, a lot of people know them as generational curses, to break those things off of my bloodline because my daughter was 14 years old.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: This is what caused them to be homeschooled.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: My daughter was 14 years old.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: She was in high school, um, brand new ninth grader, skipping school, spoken weed.
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: We finding her at boys' houses.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: She's listening to all this crazy music.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: And it was all because I knew about this stuff as a Christian, but I had never dealt with it.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: I knew the dangers of living a lukewarm lifestyle, but I wanted to party.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: I wanted to enjoy life.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: I wanted my kids to enjoy life because I didn't enjoy life being a church kid growing up.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: So I wanted them to have the things that I didn't have.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: Well, the things that I didn't have come with demons and demonic strongholds.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: And I remember my husband, um, and I'm it's okay for me to share this testimony because my daughter has her own podcast and she shared this testimony publicly.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: But my husband called her a psycho one day.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: He was like, You're acting psycho.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: And whatever it was on the inside of her activated, and she began manifesting.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: She was trying to cut herself with knives, she was foaming at the mouth, she was cussing at the other kids like it was a whole thing.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: And he was like, You said you were deliverance minister, you need to go in there.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: You need to get in there.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: And so I called one of the ministers at the church, and I'm on the phone with them, and I'm casting the things out of my daughter, and I'm asking them what their name was because I didn't know any better.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: I thought I had to ask all of their names, and so I'm just writing down, and I wrote down over a hundred names, and I'm just casting these things out of my baby.
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: And a lot of those, even though God blessed me in that moment to be able to help cast them out of her, I knew how a lot of them had gotten in there.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: I knew they were because I hadn't dealt with my stuff.
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: I knew they were because I had treated her like my best friend and told her too much of my business, my emotions, and all the stuff that was going on with me.
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: I knew it was because there were times where I was verbally abusive to her.
- 53:44SPEAKER_01: There were times I was physically abusive to her because I had not gotten on top of my things, right?
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: And so not only are we to take the word seriously, take our time with the Lord seriously, truly sit at his feet, like you were saying, for ourselves, but we have to do it for the people that we love.
- 54:05SPEAKER_01: We have to do it because when I started taking that seriously and getting free on my own accord, they started being delivered of stuff.
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: It was affecting them.
- 54:17SPEAKER_01: Even though they weren't in the word, they weren't praying, it was affecting them.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: They were being delivered of stuff because I was being delivered of stuff just because of their relationship.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: And so even this past year, my daughter had had a whole prodigal uh daughter experience over the course of a year.
- 54:42SPEAKER_01: And so addictions are one of the generational curses in my family.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: I talked to you about the alcoholism, I talked to you about the smoking weed, the pills.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: I was good at finding prescription pills somewhere, right?
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: And so as a minister, I'm not doing any of these things anymore, but I made a pledge to the Lord, you know what, Lord, from this day forth, I'm not gonna touch alcohol at all.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: Not because I still have a problem with it, but because I want to give this over to you.
- 55:11SPEAKER_01: That same day, my daughter, who's a whole prodigal, texts me and is like, mommy, I'm getting baptized in a couple of weeks.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: We never know what our conquering our stronghold does for the generations coming after us.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: We never know what conquering our stronghold does for our family members.
- 55:32SPEAKER_01: Even though my sister isn't one of my children, there are times where I'm going through these purging and cleaning, and she'll text me, calling, what's going on with you?
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: Because I could feel something's going on.
- 55:42SPEAKER_01: Or she'll text me and be like, Oh, I just forgave so-and-so, or I'm getting in my word and I'm doing this.
- 55:47SPEAKER_01: And it's because we are, each joint supplies, we are working all out our own soul salvation with fear and trembling, and it's a domino effect and affecting those people around us, those ones that we love.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: That is so good.
- 56:01SPEAKER_00: So, so before we wrap up, what would you what advice would you tell somebody that may be afraid to speak up or is is so ashamed that they have a stronghold?
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: What advice would you give them to letting them know that um the sooner they they recognize it and they start working on it and that freedom comes?
- 56:25SPEAKER_00: What would you um encourage them to do?
- 56:29SPEAKER_00: Where would you have them start?
- 56:30SPEAKER_00: Where would you tell them, hey, this is this is how you would go and start this process?
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: What would you tell them?
- 56:41SPEAKER_01: It starts with Jesus.
- 56:45SPEAKER_01: It really does.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: Because everything outside of Jesus is willpower, and we all are given a different measure of it.
- 56:54SPEAKER_01: Somebody else's willpower may not match mine, right?
- 56:57SPEAKER_01: Somebody else's willpower might be better than mine, way better than mine, right?
- 57:04SPEAKER_01: And willpower is not enough to overcome the demonic.
- 57:08SPEAKER_01: The only thing that gives us the authority and gives me the boldness.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: Luke 10.19 says that we have power over all power of the enemy, that God has given us that.
- 57:20SPEAKER_01: But that is done through Jesus.
- 57:22SPEAKER_01: And so that reconciliation of that relationship is the most important.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: Jesus is the one that empowers me to talk crazy to the devil.
- 57:31SPEAKER_01: Jesus is the one that made sure that I wasn't an addict anymore.
- 57:34SPEAKER_01: Jesus is the one that got rid of every bipolar tendency.
- 57:38SPEAKER_01: Jesus is the one that got rid of mental illness.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: Jesus is the one that quieted all the other voices.
- 57:43SPEAKER_01: And so trying to do anything outside of him might be successful.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: But the word says, what does it profit a man to gain this whole world and lose his soul?
- 57:56SPEAKER_01: What happens when the willpower runs out?
- 58:01SPEAKER_01: What happens?
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: You find yourself in the middle of the floor with your head shaved like Britney Spears.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: Because you can't do anything else.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: You've tried everything and there is nothing else that you can do.
- 58:15SPEAKER_01: And so the Bible says, when we are weak, he is strong.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: So that's the first thing.
- 58:19SPEAKER_01: The second thing is you need a true accountability partner, somebody who is not going, I won't say not care about your feelings, but your feelings are not the top of the list.
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: So my pastor, Pastor Otha, he's he preaches the clean, unadulterated truth.
- 58:37SPEAKER_01: He cares more about us having the truth than he cares about us feeling good about the messages that he preaches.
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: When I've gone to his wife, um my pastor, Pastor Laurana, um, with any of the strongholds, any of the temptations, any of the anything, I'm Pastor Laurana, I had this dream, and the devil's attacking my marriage.
- 59:01SPEAKER_01: And she's always, okay, dry your face.
- 59:06SPEAKER_01: I would love to cry with you right now.
- 59:07SPEAKER_01: I would love to get all emotional, but that's not what you need.
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: You need to pick up your and let's go, get it in gear.
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: You need someone who loves you enough to be hard with you and not let you make excuses, right?
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: Who's going to love on you and make sure you have the resources, make sure you're spending that time in the word, time in prayer, who is willing to pray with you, fast with you.
- 59:29SPEAKER_01: Sometimes, even for a season, someone who's willing to answer the phone at 10, 11, 12, 1 o'clock in the morning, whatever that looks like.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: Um, but you need an accountability partner.
- 59:40SPEAKER_01: You need someone to disciple you.
- 59:42SPEAKER_01: And then you need to ask the Lord for that spirit of obedience.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: Philippians 2.13 says that he will give us exactly what we need to complete every letter of his law, to be obedient to him.
- 59:57SPEAKER_01: And that obedience needs to come without question.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: It needs to be put above your feelings, above your cravings, above the stronghold, above the excuses why you have this stronghold, all of those things.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_01: Once you have those three things, you'll be talking crazy to the devil and punching him in the throat and kicking him in the teeth.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: Every chance you get the same as all of his other disciples.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_00: That's really a good word.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: Thank you for that.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: I think it's important that um when um as a coach myself, teaching people after they recognize that there's a stronghold.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: Um, when you said discipleship, um, I think it's great because you said something when you were young, and you you you knew Jesus was calling you, and you're like, I know he's talking to me, but I don't know if I should do this.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: Well, God, you know, that happened to me.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_00: I was at Billy Graham Crusade, and there's tens of thousands of people.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: We were up in the nosebleed section, and all I remember is telling my grandmother, I gotta get down there.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_00: I gotta go.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Oh no, you're gonna get lost.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: I said, Oh no, I won't, because I got Jesus now.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: I got Jesus.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: I know right where I'm going.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_00: Everyone else is running out the door, and I was running to the floor.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_00: And I said, just stay right here, I'll be right back.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Oh my god, I was 10 years old.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: I was it just hit me.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_00: But after that, I didn't get any discipleship.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_00: I just kept on living this, you know, I was in the same situation I was when I went down there.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_00: Nothing changed.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: And I I kept thinking, I knew something changed in me spiritually, but nothing else changed in me mentally or physically, you know.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I needed the discipleship.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_00: And it took me years before I realized that I really needed to be um shown the word.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: That's why I went back into ministry school because I wanted to get, you know, what I was missing.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_00: And I wanted to know everything that I didn't know that I needed to know so that I could be obedient, so that I could um live up to God's given purpose.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_00: Because not that we not that, you know, we you know we're told we're a disappointment, not that we're ever gonna be a disappointment to God, because we can just come in the mess we're in right now, and God's gonna love us for who we are right now.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_00: But the the joy that comes with knowing what Jesus did on the cross makes you want to desire to do more and to learn more about who Jesus really is and to have that fullness of that agape love.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_00: And also to be able to curb the enemy from coming at you sideways and around the bend because now you now you have your blinders off, and before you could only see it in one direction, but now you see it everywhere.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_00: Like, nope, not today, devil.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_00: Nope, you ain't coming at me.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_00: You're trying to sneak in the window.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: No, not happening, you know.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_00: And so I I try to encourage people that um that are facing strongholds, and definitely, you know, seek out some counseling, seek out coaching, um, go to your minister, go to your pastor.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: But I encourage everyone, even in every podcast that I have, right here.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_00: This is it, this is the key.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: This is this is our lifeline to God.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: It's alive and it's active and it's living.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_00: And sometimes when you're alone and someone doesn't answer the phone, here's here's the other phone.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_00: Pick it up and and and start listening and get into it and read it and read it over and over and over again.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_00: I've encouraged people, you know, hey, write the message on a sticky note until you get it in your head, until you get it in your head.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: Just stick it on the mirror, just read it every day until it starts becoming the you know, the word starts becoming your flesh.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_00: You know, instead of your flesh having control over you, let the word be your flesh.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_00: And just take it in, devour it, read it over and meditate over and over again.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_00: And then once you start getting it, you'll start seeing the change that comes with it and that that flow that God gives us and that overfillness and all of the joy.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_00: Because when you said that, you know, sometimes you'd wake up and you're mad in the morning.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: Well, God says joy comes in the morning.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: So obviously that's the spirit of the enemy.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_00: If you're waking up and you're irritable, because I'm telling you, there's times when I'm just like, I just need to go to back to bed because this is not gonna be this is not happening.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_00: And God's like, wait a minute, joy comes in the morning, it's more it's morning and you're already doing this.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_00: You know, you need to kick that enemy to the curb.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: And um, because his word matters and it's so truthful.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_00: So I always encourage people, you know, if you're feeling that way in the morning, you need to remember that it's not of God because joy is what he brings in the morning, that we need to address it.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_00: And Priscilla Shire, um, I do you know who that is?
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_00: I love her.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_00: I love that she says, before my feet touch the floor, I will pray and ask God to make sure that before my feet touch the floor, that he anoints me and gives me everything that I need to be equipped with just to handle that day.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_00: I don't need the whole world, I don't need it all.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_00: I just want God from the moment my feet touch the floor all the way up to my head that I'm equipped so I can take off and be prepared.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_00: And I love that because we don't sometimes we just fly out of bed, and next thing you know, we're doing stuff and then we're agitated for no reason.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_00: Because we left our armor back in the bedroom.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: We forgot to put it on, you know.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_00: So I think it's really important that we do that.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_00: But anyhow, um, we do have to wrap up um this episode.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_00: I've had, you know, it's just great having you on the show, and I hope that I can have you on again.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: If you want to come back on, I'd love to have you.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_00: Um, your testimony is wonderful.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_00: You have such a great word.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_00: You have a great way of explaining your words, which is really awesome.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_00: And um, I think that um our listeners will gain a lot from your message today.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_00: And it also helps people to feel like, you know, hey, I, you know, I can relate with that.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_00: I I understand what she's talking about.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_00: And oh my gosh, she had an attitude too.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_00: Oh man, I thought I was the only one that had the attitude, you know.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_01: The best thing about um sharing the message is that for the longest time I thought that pastors were so different.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: They were like a whole different species of human, okay?
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_01: They were just different.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: But to find out that you can be in ministry and still struggle with addiction, you can be in ministry and still stuff struggle with domestic violence, you can be in ministry and still struggle with mental illness, and that we're all overcoming some form of sin, and that it's normal, like that's what our testimony is overcoming.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: It's normal.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_01: I think that that's the the best thing for someone to look at this and say, even though I smoke weed, even though I'm bipolar, one day I could be the minister of the gospel.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_01: I think that that's cool.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, God's God's put a lot of people in that place.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, look at, you know, look at Moses, look at David.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_00: David had what, 12 wives or something.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, I mean, you know, and I I remember one time I used to tell people, because after my divorce, I never wanted to get married again.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_00: And so I just go date and and you know, I was dating and dating and dating, and and um I thought, oh my gosh, I'm the woman at the well, you know?
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, you know, I can I need to stop this.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: And God literally said, Stop saying that to yourself.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_00: You don't talk to yourself like that.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_00: You are not the one at the well anymore.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_00: You're a child of the king, and you're you're a daughter of the king.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_00: You don't get to say that to yourself anymore.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_00: Because I used to make a joke of it, I'm like, oh man, because I don't do that anymore.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_00: But I used to be like, yeah, I was the woman at the well, you know, like I was always bragging.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_00: And God was like, knock that off.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_00: You don't talk down to yourself like that ever again.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_00: I don't ever want you to say that again.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_00: And I was really convicted, but it it helped me because I allowed myself to stay in that that that scenario and talk to myself like that and hold that over me to where I couldn't function in relationships because I was like, I would just go to to you know, move on, move on, move on, move on, move on.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: Couldn't function, couldn't function.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_00: Because I was relating to myself as oh, you're just the woman at the well.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: This is what you do.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_00: You're just a repetitive action.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_00: You just run to the well, get another drink.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_00: Run, you know, run to the well, get another drink.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_00: And God said, Stop doing that, knock it off.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_00: You're never gonna have a relationship if you keep talking to yourself like that.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_00: And I was like, wow, that's pretty deep, God.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_00: Can I write that down or something?
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_00: Because I know I'm gonna forget it.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: But that was pretty good stuff, you know?
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_00: And that's what God does, He shows us these things and He helps us break free from that.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_00: That better be in your book.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_00: No, I don't do that.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_00: That better be in your book.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_00: Oh yes, yes, it is in the book.
