- 0:04Speaker 2: Masha that, well, welcome back after the first day of
- 0:07Speaker 2: school there at Tilliamar. How did everything go yesterday? Are
- 0:10Speaker 2: you feeling good this morning? At ninety seven point one
- 0:12Speaker 2: watched up them because there were no meltdowns, no drama,
- 0:15Speaker 2: no issues.
- 0:16Speaker 3: I'll get more into it later on in the show,
- 0:18Speaker 3: but yes, I'm feeling good because the kids are back
- 0:21Speaker 3: in school in Fairfax County yesterday today though Montgomery and
- 0:25Speaker 3: Prince George's County kids headbacks. That's right, I'm feeling it.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I'm with you, and for those parents who are starting kindergarten,
- 0:32Speaker 3: I know it's a different kind of emotional day for you.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I remember that moment very well. And those who are,
- 0:38Speaker 3: you know, starting their senior year of high school this
- 0:41Speaker 3: is this is also emotional for you.
- 0:43Speaker 2: This well at the end, y'all, I remember it well,
- 0:47Speaker 2: and it doesn't get any easier, trust me. And then
- 0:50Speaker 2: it just gets more expensive when they go to college.
- 0:52Speaker 2: But you know what, hey, one step at a time,
- 0:54Speaker 2: baby steps. There by day, baby steps.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Good luck to all of the teachers and students and
- 1:00Speaker 3: parents in the DMV as we start a new school year.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Praying for you. I'm very very happy today, and I'm
- 1:07Speaker 2: feeling good because with the kids at school, that means
- 1:10Speaker 2: I could go to the pool today and not feel
- 1:12Speaker 2: so self conscious about things. So I'm hoping that I
- 1:16Speaker 2: have an empty pool waiting for me after I get
- 1:20Speaker 2: home later on this Tuesday. It's little things like that,
- 1:23Speaker 2: and i haven't really gotten any pool time in so
- 1:25Speaker 2: I'm wondering how that's gonna work with my knee. Okay,
- 1:28Speaker 2: probably all good. It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM
- 1:32Speaker 2: on a Tuesday morning hang out for the news. Top
- 1:35Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour coming up, Chilli,
- 1:37Speaker 2: what's good?
- 1:38Speaker 3: So the Freedom two point fifty race is over, but
- 1:41Speaker 3: apparently the headaches for drivers aren't. I'll explain. Coming up
- 1:46Speaker 3: in just a few top stories top of the hour,
- 1:52Speaker 3: the White House has unveiled Operation Economic Outcasts. It's a
- 1:56Speaker 3: plan to cut Iran off from oil experts and other trade.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Treasure Tree Secretary Scott Bessett says the President is personally
- 2:03Speaker 3: calling world leaders warning them to end their dealings with Iran. Meanwhile,
- 2:08Speaker 3: the President is slapping a fifty percent tariff on Canadian cars, trucks,
- 2:12Speaker 3: and autoparts after trade talks broke down. Meanwhile, Canada has
- 2:17Speaker 3: vowed to match any tariff's dollar for dollar. Investigators say
- 2:22Speaker 3: a deadly Annapolis home explosion was the result of the
- 2:25Speaker 3: homeowner accidentally cutting a propane line while working on his
- 2:30Speaker 3: HVAC system and then unknowingly igniting the leaked gas with
- 2:34Speaker 3: a metal grinder. That blast killed a seventy six year
- 2:37Speaker 3: old woman and left the homeowner in serious condition. DC police.
- 2:42Speaker 3: A fifteen year old girl who fell from the Key
- 2:44Speaker 3: Bridge into the Potomac River last weekend has died. Serene
- 2:48Speaker 3: Tayara was sitting on the ledge overlooking the river Saturday
- 2:52Speaker 3: when she felt She was pulled from the water and
- 2:54Speaker 3: rushed to the hospital, but did not survive. So the
- 2:57Speaker 3: Freedom two fifty race is over, but the headaches for
- 3:00Speaker 3: drivers aren't, because crews are still tearing down fencing, barriers
- 3:04Speaker 3: and grandstands around the National Mall. Several major streets, including
- 3:09Speaker 3: Constitution in Pennsylvania, Avenues will stay fully closed to public
- 3:13Speaker 3: traffic through September third, and according to a recent survey,
- 3:18Speaker 3: forty two percent of travelers say that flight passenger behavior
- 3:22Speaker 3: has gotten worse over the past five years, with noise
- 3:25Speaker 3: like loud talking music without headphones the top complaint at
- 3:30Speaker 3: twenty seven percent. Forecast for today, it's going to be lovely,
- 3:35Speaker 3: lots of sunshine with highs around eighty two right now
- 3:38Speaker 3: sixty two in Woodbridge.
- 3:39Speaker 2: There are so many places that get you the news,
- 3:42Speaker 2: but there's really just one place you need to trust
- 3:44Speaker 2: for the news that really matters, and that would be
- 3:46Speaker 2: right here with Toby and Chilly in the morning and
- 3:48Speaker 2: top stories at the top of the hour ninety seven
- 3:50Speaker 2: point one Wash FM. As you make your way in
- 3:53Speaker 2: on sixty six, maybe ninety five North could be on
- 3:56Speaker 2: three ninety five this morning, or you're just sitting in
- 3:59Speaker 2: the drive through coffee line. Thank you for having his son,
- 4:04Speaker 2: and know that in just minutes we're going to take
- 4:06Speaker 2: some time to focus on you with your morning mindset
- 4:08Speaker 2: for this Tuesday. You might want to hear what this
- 4:12Speaker 2: person has to say to you that we found that
- 4:16Speaker 2: back to school rush's no doubt causing some issues in
- 4:18Speaker 2: Montgomery County. And yeah, you're making lunch right now in
- 4:22Speaker 2: Northern Virginia somewhere, and you probably need to hear your
- 4:26Speaker 2: morning mindset today. On ninety seven point one WASHEFM with
- 4:30Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning. If you're just finding
- 4:31Speaker 2: us for the first time, what is our morning mindset?
- 4:34Speaker 3: We find a quote and share it with all of
- 4:36Speaker 3: you to think about as you take on the rest
- 4:38Speaker 3: of your day, maybe to motivate you or even to
- 4:41Speaker 3: inspire you.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It will fit in your life. Trust me, it's from
- 4:44Speaker 2: Princess Diana. Your morning mindset today says, I don't go
- 4:47Speaker 2: by the rule book. I lead from the heart, not
- 4:50Speaker 2: the head. It's Princess Diana. Let me say that again,
- 4:54Speaker 2: because I think it's it's a residant this morning. I
- 4:56Speaker 2: don't go by the rule book. I lead from the heart,
- 4:59Speaker 2: not the head. See, not every important decision fits neatly
- 5:04Speaker 2: into some sort of spreadsheet, nor can you plan it.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You know, life just happens sometimes. Your values, stuff that
- 5:13Speaker 2: makes your heart beat right already knows the answer. So
- 5:16Speaker 2: listen to it today and see how easy anything you
- 5:18Speaker 2: have to accomplish today can really become when you listen
- 5:22Speaker 2: to your heart, not your head, and you strategically toss
- 5:28Speaker 2: the rule book. I'm not saying to go rogue, but
- 5:31Speaker 2: if you lead from the heart, not the head, and
- 5:34Speaker 2: you don't go by the rule book, I think Princess
- 5:36Speaker 2: Diane is right, and I think you'll be surprised at
- 5:38Speaker 2: how things go for you. Keep that in mind as
- 5:41Speaker 2: you get into this brand new day. If you need
- 5:43Speaker 2: it again, find it on Instagram, Facebook, or you can
- 5:47Speaker 2: reach out to us Chillipage at Washington dot com. We'll
- 5:50Speaker 2: be happy to send it your way. In the meantime,
- 5:52Speaker 2: hang out for a few We.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Have got some calls from people who want to tell
- 5:56Speaker 3: us why they're feeling good today. We always share our reasons,
- 6:00Speaker 3: and now it's your turn.
- 6:02Speaker 2: If you're crossing the Potomac this morning, bless your heart.
- 6:06Speaker 2: You need the joy that comes when what it is
- 6:09Speaker 2: that makes people feel good becomes contagious. It's ninety seven
- 6:13Speaker 2: point one Watcheff, then Telby and Chilly in the morning.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So let's talk about some things that are making you
- 6:18Speaker 2: feel good right now.
- 6:19Speaker 3: At the beginning of the show, every single morning, Toby
- 6:22Speaker 3: and I share a quick reason why we're feeling good.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We always trying to find some sort of silver lining
- 6:27Speaker 3: in our day, and we love it when you participate
- 6:29Speaker 3: in the conversation, like Peter in Ashbourne this morning, Go ahead,
- 6:34Speaker 3: why are you smiling? Oh my gosh, you know what's
- 6:37Speaker 3: making me happy today?
- 6:38Speaker 2: Guys, got a brand new car, so excited. I bet
- 6:42Speaker 2: you traded in your hooptie.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah, what's the new whip?
- 6:45Speaker 2: Got myself a new Mustang, So looking forward to taking
- 6:48Speaker 2: that baby out and getting around the road.
- 6:51Speaker 4: It's going to be great. You know.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Love the cruise for sure.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I think we both hope here in our studio that
- 6:56Speaker 2: you get the chance to cruise if your morning involves
- 6:59Speaker 2: four ninety five to seventy sixty six or all of
- 7:02Speaker 2: the above.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And just make sure you don't go too fast because
- 7:05Speaker 3: that Mustang will draw some attention.
- 7:07Speaker 2: That's right. And I'm not going to say anything about
- 7:10Speaker 2: radar detectors because that just wouldn't be very good citizen
- 7:14Speaker 2: of me. Drive safely and thank you there, Peter and Ashburn.
- 7:17Speaker 2: All right, Christa is hanging on in Potomac this morning. Hey,
- 7:21Speaker 2: how are you and what are you happy about this morning?
- 7:24Speaker 4: Okay, I'm obsessed with this grape drink recently.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Alrighty, and it's.
- 7:30Speaker 5: A small win.
- 7:31Speaker 2: But I actually wrote the company and they're sending me
- 7:34Speaker 2: like a free crate of it.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Wow, just because you wrote.
- 7:38Speaker 2: In one letter, I am so excited. I would be
- 7:42Speaker 2: tool because to have a crate of your favorite grape drink.
- 7:45Speaker 2: That's just I mean, that's nirvana heaven and all you
- 7:49Speaker 2: had to do is like fire off an email or
- 7:51Speaker 2: shoot a quick note and I'm inspired. If you'll excuse me,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I'm going to go write my favorite coffee company now
- 7:57Speaker 2: and see if I can have some of your luck.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Rubbuff on meet. We're Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 8:01Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFMNT eight sixty six
- 8:04Speaker 2: ninety two seven forty three sixty one.
- 8:06Speaker 3: You can always continue this conversation if you'd like, but.
- 8:09Speaker 2: We get the news on the way top stories at
- 8:11Speaker 2: the top of the hour. What are you working on
- 8:13Speaker 2: this morning?
- 8:14Speaker 3: Burned out from swiping singles? Are heading to real life
- 8:18Speaker 3: events instead? Coming up in just a few minutes, I'm
- 8:20Speaker 3: going to share some of the most popular meet cute experiences.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Kimberly, thanks for calling ninety seven point one WASHCHEFM. We're
- 8:29Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning. I understand you're in
- 8:31Speaker 2: friendship heights and you wanted to share why you're feeling
- 8:34Speaker 2: good this morning. Fire Away.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I'm so excited and looking forward to a road trip
- 8:38Speaker 1: with my childhood best.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Friend where are you guys headed?
- 8:41Speaker 5: We found this museum. It's called the Cheese Cave.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Oh, you must be talking about the one up in Queens,
- 8:47Speaker 3: New York.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Can you bring some caso back for some people please?
- 8:52Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash FM Hate Travels Safely Okay?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station, coming
- 9:02Speaker 1: up on Top Stories, Top of the hour.
- 9:04Speaker 3: The Supreme Court is letting most of the President's mail
- 9:07Speaker 3: in voting order move forward. We've got the latest on
- 9:11Speaker 3: that story and others on the way with Toby and
- 9:14Speaker 3: Chili in the morning. Ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:23Speaker 3: The Supreme Court is letting most of the President's mail
- 9:26Speaker 3: in voting order move forward, but the key piece giving
- 9:29Speaker 3: the postal service oversight of ballot standards stays blocked for now.
- 9:34Speaker 3: The order also directs agencies to compile lists of confirmed
- 9:38Speaker 3: eligible voters.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Well.
- 9:40Speaker 3: The US and Canada are now in a full trade war.
- 9:44Speaker 3: The President says auto tariffs jump to fifty percent on
- 9:47Speaker 3: January first, after talks broke down and Canada's come back,
- 9:51Speaker 3: saying that tariffs on US goods will start September eighth.
- 9:56Speaker 3: A four year old boy has died just days after
- 9:58Speaker 3: nearly drowning in a fog Year County pond. He was
- 10:01Speaker 3: pulled from the water in the plains last week and
- 10:04Speaker 3: placed on life support, but didn't survive passing away on Sunday.
- 10:09Speaker 3: The Department of Homeland Security says that more than thirteen
- 10:12Speaker 3: hundred undocumented immigrants were arrested in Maryland and Virginia during
- 10:17Speaker 3: a two week operation earlier this month. Officials say that
- 10:20Speaker 3: nearly four hundred of those arrested have criminal charges or convictions.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Well.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Even with Sunday's Freedom two fifty race over Downtown DC,
- 10:29Speaker 3: road closures and no parking zones are going to be lingering.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Some streets near the Mall's going to stays closed through
- 10:36Speaker 3: September third, and no parking signs on a couple of
- 10:40Speaker 3: blocks will remain until about September fifteenth. And burned out
- 10:43Speaker 3: from swiping, it looks like singles are heading to real
- 10:46Speaker 3: life events instead to meet people. A new survey finds
- 10:50Speaker 3: that meet cute experiences are up one hundred and seventeen
- 10:54Speaker 3: percent so far this year. So Trivia Knights lead the
- 10:57Speaker 3: surge at four hundred and three percent, followed by Majong
- 11:02Speaker 3: events up two hundred and thirty five percent, and even
- 11:05Speaker 3: bird watching meetups are up one hundred and thirty one
- 11:08Speaker 3: percent Forcastboard today. Lots of sunshine out there to watch birds.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Highs around eighty two right now sixty three in Rockville.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Now that you've got your news fixed with Toby and
- 11:19Speaker 2: Chilly's top stories top the hours, stay right there, because
- 11:22Speaker 2: here at ninety seven point one WASHCHEFM came across something
- 11:25Speaker 2: you might find important if you're flying out of Reagan,
- 11:27Speaker 2: maybe Dulles or even b WI, something called the flat
- 11:30Speaker 2: tire rule. Have you heard about? This could come in
- 11:34Speaker 2: handy before your next flights. You are now free to
- 11:39Speaker 2: move about the country via BWI, Dulles or Reagan National.
- 11:44Speaker 2: You're gonna want to hear about this rule. Though ninety
- 11:46Speaker 2: seven point one was CHEFM or Toby and Chilly in
- 11:48Speaker 2: the morning. Some people say it's urban legend, others swear
- 11:53Speaker 2: by it. It's called the flat tire rule.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Well, apparently, it's this unofficial policy that most major US
- 11:59Speaker 3: airlines they used to help passengers who miss a flight
- 12:01Speaker 3: for reasons that are beyond their control, like a traffic accident,
- 12:05Speaker 3: a flat tire. That sort of thing. So, according to
- 12:08Speaker 3: this article, if you show up within two hours of
- 12:10Speaker 3: missing your flight and explain what happened, like a flat
- 12:14Speaker 3: tire or accident, an agent may rebook you for free
- 12:18Speaker 3: on the next available flight.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Which would be incredible because you know what, Sometimes things happen,
- 12:24Speaker 2: and that stress when things happen can be very overwhelming.
- 12:29Speaker 2: On top of this stress and anxiety it comes from flying.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I would not risk getting away with this flat tire
- 12:36Speaker 3: rule and roll the dice because if it's an over
- 12:40Speaker 3: book flight for the next however many flights, you're not
- 12:43Speaker 3: getting on anything. True, So I think it really depends
- 12:46Speaker 3: on the agent you come across that day. I think
- 12:49Speaker 3: it depends on how over booked they might be. So
- 12:53Speaker 3: why don't you do what you should do to begin
- 12:55Speaker 3: with and plan for a flat tire anyway.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Before you leave the house.
- 12:58Speaker 3: That's right, you know, give yourself plenty of time for some.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Fender bender because you never know, So leave three to
- 13:05Speaker 2: four hours earlier than the flight time and enjoy the
- 13:08Speaker 2: concessions and the different dining options available at any one
- 13:12Speaker 2: of our fine Nations Capital Region airports.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Why don't you think that these agents have heard every
- 13:18Speaker 3: excuse in the book.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and now they're going to probably end up hearing
- 13:21Speaker 2: some more of them today because we're talking about it.
- 13:23Speaker 2: So don't abuse it. If this is a true thing,
- 13:26Speaker 2: don't ruin it for everyone else. Yeah, karma is a thing, people,
- 13:30Speaker 2: you're just screwing over somebody who really had a blowout
- 13:33Speaker 2: on the George Washington Memorial Park where they're just trying
- 13:36Speaker 2: to get to Reagan. Just please don't and thank you
- 13:38Speaker 2: for your attention to this matter. It's ninety seven point
- 13:40Speaker 2: one wash FM. If you want to learn more about it,
- 13:43Speaker 2: you can Toby and chillipage at washfm dot com hang
- 13:46Speaker 2: out because we got even more for you to consider
- 13:49Speaker 2: this morning.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Let's talk about Meta slash Facebook. Right now, they're being
- 13:53Speaker 3: sued because of the negative impact it has on kids'
- 13:56Speaker 3: mental health. Now, if Meta ends up losing this lawsuit,
- 14:00Speaker 3: major changes could be coming our way.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Before the DMV shifted into this back to school mode
- 14:07Speaker 2: during the summer months, while you were enjoying the pool
- 14:09Speaker 2: maybe vacation road trips, Meta has been in a courtroom
- 14:13Speaker 2: where Toby and Tilly in the morning. It's ninety seven
- 14:15Speaker 2: point one wash FM. That's right, Meta, the company behind
- 14:19Speaker 2: Facebook and Instagram. Why because they get and sued big time.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they're being sued by twenty nine states for one
- 14:27Speaker 3: point four trillion dollars. Those states are alleging that the
- 14:30Speaker 3: way Facebook and Instagram are operated are really dangerous to
- 14:33Speaker 3: children's mental health. But apparently this is not just about money,
- 14:38Speaker 3: because if Mark Zuckerberg and Meta lose, things could look
- 14:42Speaker 3: a lot different on social media. And we came across
- 14:45Speaker 3: an article that kind of spelled out what could change
- 14:49Speaker 3: if they lose.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Will we be seeing the end of the like button?
- 14:56Speaker 2: Maybe infinite scroll could go bye bye, and which means
- 14:59Speaker 2: your dooms rolling will be now limited. For anybody who's
- 15:02Speaker 2: ever gone down some sort of a rabbit hole on
- 15:04Speaker 2: Instagram or whatever, you understand what the death of that
- 15:07Speaker 2: infinite scroll would mean.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah, they would also get rid of the AutoPlay and
- 15:10Speaker 3: also no more algorithmic manipulation, so that means it would
- 15:14Speaker 3: go back to the old ways where you would see
- 15:17Speaker 3: on your feed things that are happening in chronological order.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I like that, and I like the fact that they're
- 15:22Speaker 2: going to curb frequent notifications too, because those notifications they
- 15:26Speaker 2: stimulate parts of the brain that need instant gratification and
- 15:30Speaker 2: that equals bad.
- 15:31Speaker 3: And here's good news for parents. It would be the
- 15:33Speaker 3: death of what's called finsta. It's essentially a burner account
- 15:37Speaker 3: that's away from the parent's eyes.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:40Speaker 3: The states are pushing for stricter parental verification and limits
- 15:43Speaker 3: on multiple account creations. So these kids were getting all
- 15:46Speaker 3: sneaky sneaky, but these Finsta accounts hopefully won't be able
- 15:49Speaker 3: to do that anymore.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Now here's the thing. Meta has deep pockets. Meta could
- 15:54Speaker 2: win this entire lawsuit. They could get it just tossed out, right,
- 15:57Speaker 2: So it's really up in the air, and it's not
- 15:59Speaker 2: going to be solved in twenty four to forty eight hours.
- 16:02Speaker 2: In fact, I guess they're saying that this could go
- 16:04Speaker 2: on for months, right, Yeah, first.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Several more weeks, and we're going to find out at
- 16:08Speaker 3: the end how it all works out. But this is
- 16:10Speaker 3: going to be setting some sort of precedent. And as
- 16:12Speaker 3: a parent, even as an adult who has social media,
- 16:15Speaker 3: I'm a fan of all these potential changes.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Didoh I specifically like anything that stops you from being manipulated.
- 16:23Speaker 2: If you want to go deeper, you can. We've got
- 16:25Speaker 2: you covered on the Tobya Chilipage at washchefm dot com.
- 16:28Speaker 2: All right, there's a lot of stuff happening in the
- 16:30Speaker 2: news this morning. Chili. What's coming up with top Stories
- 16:33Speaker 2: at the top of the hour.
- 16:34Speaker 3: A lot of us like to take a screenshot to
- 16:36Speaker 3: help us remember something, but new research suggests that it
- 16:39Speaker 3: could actually be working against you. I'll explain coming up
- 16:43Speaker 3: in just a few I know.
- 16:45Speaker 2: In Vienna right now, you're looking at your closet and
- 16:47Speaker 2: you're like, I don't have anything to wear. But it's okay.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Here at ninety seven point one WASHFM with Tobya Chilli
- 16:52Speaker 2: in the morning, we want to remind you that you've
- 16:53Speaker 2: got time to find something to wear. If you want
- 16:55Speaker 2: to see Chris Brown and Usher in Baltimore M and
- 16:58Speaker 2: T Bank Stadium, we've.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Got your chance coming up with our nearly impossible question

- 23:40Speaker 2: to take care of your kid, but you can only
- 23:42Speaker 2: do so much. The rest is on them, and that
- 23:44Speaker 2: really starts to present itself in middle school. I think.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard from my friends who are ahead of
