- 0:03Speaker 1: What's up everybody, No Scott, It's just me aj Perzinski
- 0:07Speaker 1: and Eric Kratz on foul Territory today. No Scott. Scott
- 0:10Speaker 1: had to fix his hair. I was gonna go Kratz.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I was gonna go no hat since I got a
- 0:14Speaker 1: nice haircut to yesterday. But it's a little bit messy
- 0:18Speaker 1: and plus you broke your computer somehow. What'd you do?
- 0:20Speaker 1: You spilled it, dropped in your pool? What happened over there?
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'd need a pool. I was accused of dropping coffee
- 0:26Speaker 2: on it. I would need to start drinking coffee. None
- 0:29Speaker 2: of that happened. I think it's just a great day
- 0:31Speaker 2: to be alive. So we're we're grinding through this one today.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Yes we are. No Scott to complain about it either. So,
- 0:38Speaker 1: by the way, if you missed yesterday's show, we had
- 0:40Speaker 1: Jeff Passing on. He gave his top ten trade deadline candidates.
- 0:45Speaker 1: He also gave the White Sox some love, which you
- 0:47Speaker 1: know that I loved, and he said the Phillies are
- 0:49Speaker 1: gonna make big moves. Krats. So you love Jeff Passing.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So wherever you get your pods, tune in and listen
- 0:53Speaker 1: to Jeff pass and talk about everything, trade deadline.
- 0:57Speaker 2: He knows what he's talking about.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Sometimes every once in a while it gets a little
- 1:01Speaker 1: off the US. We all do. We all do though,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Speaking of So, today I had to go to the
- 1:05Speaker 1: eye doctor, right, And I don't know if you do
- 1:07Speaker 1: you wear glasses or contacts or you just have perfect vision.
- 1:11Speaker 2: No, I wear contacts, Okay.
- 1:13Speaker 1: So I've wren contacts since I was like ten years old,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and they've always been fine, and just people like get
- 1:17Speaker 1: lasick and I just poop pop them in and whatever
- 1:21Speaker 1: it takes me. It's thirty seconds out of my day.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And I'll do it on the airplane and people look
- 1:24Speaker 1: at me like I'm crazy when I take my contacts
- 1:26Speaker 1: out and put on my glasses, or I put my
- 1:27Speaker 1: contacts in once you land, people are like, what are
- 1:30Speaker 1: you this crazy person doing? Right? Well, today I found
- 1:32Speaker 1: out I have a stigmatism, which I don't even know
- 1:35Speaker 1: what that means. So now my left eye, this one
- 1:38Speaker 1: you can see it apparently has a stigmatism. So I
- 1:42Speaker 1: got a new contact and it's kind of wonky. I'm
- 1:44Speaker 1: not gonna lie, it's a little bit wonky. I'm not
- 1:46Speaker 1: used to it. So if I'm a little bit fuzzy
- 1:48Speaker 1: to people out there, or just remember that's why.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Why would you Why would you be fuzzy to people?
- 1:53Speaker 2: It's your vision, people would be fuzzy to you.
- 1:56Speaker 1: True. Sorry, I get confused sometimes, but I'm just saying
- 1:58Speaker 1: it's a little left eyes. I'm like Lisa left eye, Lopez.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I only have the left eye now, so I don't
- 2:03Speaker 1: know what happened.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's just just sleepy the whole time.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't even know what I didn't know
- 2:09Speaker 1: what a stigmatism even mean. And the doctor said it's
- 2:12Speaker 1: like a football. I don't know. And they have two
- 2:14Speaker 1: different prescriptions. He said, I had it, but it wasn't
- 2:17Speaker 1: bad enough. Now it's bad enough. Anyways, do you know
- 2:20Speaker 1: how to spell it as? Because now it that's how
- 2:27Speaker 1: you spell it. Perfect. Perfect. That was a good one.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That was a good one. All right, let's talk and
- 2:32Speaker 1: we're gonna charge them around here for a second as
- 2:34Speaker 1: soon as we run this little fun charge about Eric.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Have you seen the new home run derby rules? By
- 2:42Speaker 1: the way, the home run derby rules, people are getting
- 2:44Speaker 1: too tired. There was only there was too many gatorade breaks,
- 2:47Speaker 1: guys bringing flags and towels out to everybody, but now
- 2:50Speaker 1: now they have these new rules. I'm for it, but
- 2:53Speaker 1: I'm kind of against it. I wish you could just
- 2:55Speaker 1: go back to the old ten outs thing. But twenty
- 2:57Speaker 1: swings in the first round, fifteen swings in the second
- 3:00Speaker 1: and third, and if you hit one in the moneyball
- 3:02Speaker 1: with the pink ball that he is, you get extra swings.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So it's gonna lower the amount of swings. But I
- 3:08Speaker 1: don't know. The clock was a cool thing, but I
- 3:11Speaker 1: also like just the ten outs, but then you have
- 3:13Speaker 1: Josh Hamilton and hits like seventy homers and then can't
- 3:16Speaker 1: hit it in the second half.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And I remember, and I remember the Sammy Sosa era.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Now obviously that was enhanced, it was plus tax, but
- 3:23Speaker 2: it was take a pitch, swing at a pitch, take
- 3:27Speaker 2: a pitch swing at a pitch, and you were like, oh
- 3:29Speaker 2: my gosh, this is gonna last forever. But then being
- 3:34Speaker 2: at the home run Derby when it was the clock,
- 3:36Speaker 2: they had the clock on it with three minutes forty swings,
- 3:39Speaker 2: you're like bing and you're watching and then bing and
- 3:42Speaker 2: you just you never get to enjoy it. So I
- 3:44Speaker 2: think we're gonna be to enjoy the distance of the
- 3:45Speaker 2: home runs, but I feel like it might take a
- 3:49Speaker 2: lot longer than people think because people are just gonna, yep,
- 3:52Speaker 2: make sure we're locked in. Okay, time one up. It's
- 3:54Speaker 2: gonna look like what are your sons showcase outings.
- 3:58Speaker 1: That was gonna be my thing because they did the
- 4:00Speaker 1: clock to make it faster, because I remember I was
- 4:03Speaker 1: there for Samy Sosa in two thousand and two in
- 4:05Speaker 1: Milwaukee and it took so long. Actually I left in
- 4:08Speaker 1: the middle of it because it was like four hours
- 4:11Speaker 1: and there's only so many times I can see Samy
- 4:12Speaker 1: So's that hit the ball out into Potawatamy out there
- 4:15Speaker 1: and left center that the casino they have four miles
- 4:19Speaker 1: down the road. So I left, but it took forever.
- 4:22Speaker 1: And now they're going to cut the numbers of swings down,
- 4:24Speaker 1: which I'm all for. Maybe they should have just cut
- 4:26Speaker 1: the clock down because like you said, it's gonna be oh,
- 4:29Speaker 1: take that's not the perfect pitch, take that's the perfect pitch.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Before it was really important to have the best BP thrower.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They could just throw strikes, but now it's really important
- 4:37Speaker 1: to have a guy that can just throw the perfect one,
- 4:39Speaker 1: maybe every fourth pitch, so you can battle.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Hey, don't worry about throwing all strikes here. I'll just battle.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I think. I don't know. I like that they shortened it.
- 4:50Speaker 2: We have a shorter attention span, and being there, you
- 4:53Speaker 2: don't get to enjoy every home run. The people I
- 4:56Speaker 2: want in home run Derby are not the people that
- 4:58Speaker 2: dink them over the fence.
- 5:00Speaker 1: See.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I want to see somebody hit one under the Ashburn Alley.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I want to see somebody hit one into Harry the
- 5:05Speaker 2: cat well it used to be called Harry the K's
- 5:07Speaker 2: up in left field. I want to see somebody hit
- 5:10Speaker 2: one where Barry Bonds hit it in right field or
- 5:13Speaker 2: right center field. Those are the people I want in
- 5:15Speaker 2: the game. I get it. I don't. I don't necessarily
- 5:18Speaker 2: I'm not afraid of short home runs, I get that.
- 5:21Speaker 2: But I want to see the dudes that just hit
- 5:23Speaker 2: massive dangers and I want to be able to watch
- 5:25Speaker 2: them go the whole way.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah. True, but that's why the size guys had an
- 5:30Speaker 1: advantage for so long. And by the way, I'm not
- 5:32Speaker 1: saying this is true or not, but the balls are juiced.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I mean maybe uh for the home run Derby. Just
- 5:38Speaker 1: I always joke, We just always joke. We just always joke.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You know the softball guys. They used to bring the
- 5:44Speaker 1: saltball guys and they'd hit a ball into the upper
- 5:46Speaker 1: I remember we were playing in the Metro and they
- 5:47Speaker 1: brought these saltball guys in in the left field of
- 5:49Speaker 1: the Metro Dome was seven hundred feet and these dudes
- 5:52Speaker 1: were just mashing balls into the upper deck and left field.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And then they let me see a ball and you
- 5:56Speaker 1: dropped it on the ground and it was like off
- 6:00Speaker 1: the roof, and I'm like, man, those are the same
- 6:01Speaker 1: as That's why I tell people those are the home
- 6:03Speaker 1: run derby balls. You drop a regular ball and you
- 6:05Speaker 1: drop a home run derby ball. One bounces back in
- 6:07Speaker 1: your hand. The other one bounces seventeen feet over your head.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So I don't know, I'm for it. I like seeing
- 6:14Speaker 1: long home runs. Maybe it'll get some bigger names because
- 6:16Speaker 1: they won't be as tired. But one thing I do
- 6:18Speaker 1: like Kratz is I do like the head to head.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I always like the head to head. Right, it's head
- 6:22Speaker 1: to head. You go mono imano one, verse four, two,
- 6:25Speaker 1: verse three and boom, and then you figure it out
- 6:27Speaker 1: right then and then if you're in the next round,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you go head verse head again, head to head, and
- 6:32Speaker 1: that's the winner take all. There's no like, oh well,
- 6:34Speaker 1: this guy hit the second most. This guy da da
- 6:36Speaker 1: da da boom. Let's go head to head mono imano,
- 6:39Speaker 1: see who hit some more homers.
- 6:40Speaker 3: With over thirty five million down loads, seakeeek is the
- 6:43Speaker 3: number one rated ticketing app and krats. There are many
- 6:47Speaker 3: many baseball games on the inventory to check out all
- 6:50Speaker 3: summer long. This is the season now, it is baseball
- 6:54Speaker 3: baseball season. Not many other options for you sports wise.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I know you can go anywhere you want to go
- 6:58Speaker 3: with seakeek. There's so many tickets to choose from. But
- 7:00Speaker 3: baseball's center stage now. For the next couple months.
- 7:04Speaker 2: School's out, I'm going to watch some baseball games, some
- 7:07Speaker 2: big league games, all in my area, and I want
- 7:09Speaker 2: to know exactly what it looks like. And I also
- 7:11Speaker 2: want the best deal, So I'm looking for the green,
- 7:14Speaker 2: not the red.
- 7:15Speaker 3: That's right, The green hooks you up with the best
- 7:17Speaker 3: deals on the app. Of course, we have the code
- 7:20Speaker 3: It's Territory ten for ten percent off your next set
- 7:22Speaker 3: of tickets at sea gek. That's ten percent off any
- 7:25Speaker 3: MLB tickets with the promo code Territory one zero. Make
- 7:30Speaker 3: sure you click the link in the description of this
- 7:32Speaker 3: episode that'll download the app if you don't have it already,
- 7:35Speaker 3: and you'll have the code automatically added to your account
- 7:38Speaker 3: so that you can use that code later. Thank you,
- 7:40Speaker 3: seeke thing I don't like about it though.
- 7:42Speaker 2: If somebody has a stinker and then they played somebody
- 7:44Speaker 2: that has a stinker, they only need to hit six
- 7:47Speaker 2: home runs, eight home runs, and then you're like, you
- 7:50Speaker 2: feel like you kind of got shorted on that round.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So that's my only issue with the head to head.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But I don't have a I don't have an answer
- 7:57Speaker 2: to it. I don't you know, coin flip or whoever
- 7:59Speaker 2: hits some most in the first round gets to go
- 8:01Speaker 2: second because then you get to see what the other
- 8:03Speaker 2: person hits. I don't know. I feel like there has
- 8:07Speaker 2: to be something else, but there's always there's always something,
- 8:10Speaker 2: and I'm glad they're not afraid to tweak it. I
- 8:13Speaker 2: just hope it's for the fans, like everything else Major
- 8:16Speaker 2: League Baseball does is for the fans.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Right, well, of course it should be for the television
- 8:21Speaker 1: and the fans, because nobody wants to sit in Philadelphia
- 8:24Speaker 1: for four hours and watch dudes hit homeworks. I'm sorry.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I love the home run Derby. I love the event,
- 8:28Speaker 1: but it gets old no matter who you are, unless
- 8:30Speaker 1: you're the kid out there chasing home run balls. You
- 8:32Speaker 1: just get one of your kids out there and just
- 8:34Speaker 1: tell them to wear a helmet because there's been some
- 8:37Speaker 1: nogging knockers.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I gotta maybe maybe since we won the state championship,
- 8:43Speaker 2: maybe they'll let all the state championship kids get out
- 8:45Speaker 2: there in the outfield and catch them fly balls. Although
- 8:48Speaker 2: some of the guys on my team, I'm gonna be
- 8:49Speaker 2: straight up honest, I don't need them in left field
- 8:52Speaker 2: either that it's dangerous out there. I don't need I've
- 8:54Speaker 2: seen them try to track fly balls that we're hitting,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and we got to just keep those guys in the
- 8:59Speaker 2: stands watching the games.
- 9:01Speaker 1: The one rule that hasn't changed. Remember I think it
- 9:03Speaker 1: was Brent Rooker got screwed by the distance thing. They
- 9:05Speaker 1: kept the distance. Who's judging the distance?
- 9:08Speaker 3: Right?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Is his stat cast? Is there a guy sitting there?
- 9:10Speaker 1: It's it was on Netflix this year, so on ESPN.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I know ESPN lost it, so I think it's on
- 9:14Speaker 1: Netflix this year. They gonna have like Anthony Rizzo or
- 9:17Speaker 1: CC out there measuring with the tape measure. That'd be awesome.
- 9:20Speaker 1: CC running around the field with the tape measure, scene
- 9:23Speaker 1: up in the stands, running from home run to home
- 9:24Speaker 1: run with the tape measures how far it went, that'd
- 9:26Speaker 1: be awesome.
- 9:27Speaker 2: They're gonna trust stat Cast, They're gonna trust Google AI.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That's what they're gonna trust.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Do we need to bring back Chris Berman?
- 9:37Speaker 2: No? I mean, well, that's the thing. I think Chris
- 9:39Speaker 2: Berman was gone when you can't have the when you
- 9:41Speaker 2: had the timer, because he's like it's back back, back,
- 9:44Speaker 2: back back, it's back back back back by like he
- 9:46Speaker 2: never he never ended. He was never able to he
- 9:49Speaker 2: was never able to stop. But no, you know what,
- 9:52Speaker 2: you know we need to bring back we need to
- 9:54Speaker 2: bring back one returning champion, and we need to bring
- 9:58Speaker 2: back one minor league champion. That's what we need. For
- 10:02Speaker 2: the home run derby, people will be like because they
- 10:05Speaker 2: do it in a slam dunk contest. Now that's a
- 10:07Speaker 2: picture of that's a picture of Schwarber hitting in the
- 10:11Speaker 2: home run derby. Or was it him winning the All
- 10:13Speaker 2: Star Game which was ended in a home run.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Derby, which, by the way, maybe instead of doing the
- 10:18Speaker 1: feed off, they should have a swing off. But I
- 10:20Speaker 1: know it's more swings. People will complain that'd be way
- 10:23Speaker 1: too much. Two more or three more swings would be
- 10:25Speaker 1: way too much for these professional athletes to take one
- 10:27Speaker 1: hundred swings a day. But also, by the way, it's funny,
- 10:30Speaker 1: Claudia says, it created a great point if you said
- 10:32Speaker 1: past champions, I mean like Todd Frazier could come back. Yes,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and by the way, minor league or you're out. Sorry,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I hate to say that you're out. If not in
- 10:39Speaker 1: the big things, you can't be in the big league.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Home run Derby I disagree. I disagree. You want to
- 10:44Speaker 2: see the best home run hitters ever, So you know
- 10:47Speaker 2: what it's in Philly this year Ryan Howard, big piece.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He won a home run Derby. Bring him back coming,
- 10:52Speaker 2: Michael Jack. I'm saying, put it out there. It's a
- 10:59Speaker 2: fan event. Put it out there. Home run Derby champion
- 11:02Speaker 2: from the minor leagues, not whoever's hitting the most home runs.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Home run Derby champion in the minor leagues. You know,
- 11:08Speaker 2: I'm always gonna I'm always gonna vie for my home
- 11:10Speaker 2: run for my triple A guys. But McClung's doing McClung doesn't.
- 11:14Speaker 2: He comes and he wins the dunk contest. You want
- 11:16Speaker 2: to see the best in an exhibition contest. That's how
- 11:20Speaker 2: you have to do it. You got to you gotta
- 11:21Speaker 2: go out and you got to get the best to
- 11:23Speaker 2: show who actually hits the ball the farthest and the
- 11:26Speaker 2: most homers.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I love Ryan Howard. I went when I went to
- 11:29Speaker 1: London a couple of years ago, they had a cage
- 11:31Speaker 1: and it was the Phillies and the Mets, and they
- 11:32Speaker 1: wanted us to hit in the cage and Ryan was like,
- 11:34Speaker 1: absolutely not. I said there, and I'm like I'll do
- 11:37Speaker 1: it if you do it, and he's like, oh, I'll
- 11:38Speaker 1: do it. You were like, I'll do it if you
- 11:40Speaker 1: do it. I'll do it if you do it, So
- 11:41Speaker 1: of course I eventually we both ended up getting in
- 11:43Speaker 1: the cage in London, in the middle of the middle
- 11:46Speaker 1: of the square in a batting cage, and they had
- 11:47Speaker 1: a dude throwing and they had all the track man.
- 11:49Speaker 1: We both weren't very good. I'm sure Ryan hit it
- 11:51Speaker 1: farther than I did, but neither one. I think it
- 11:53Speaker 1: was me and Chase Jimmy I think was there. I
- 11:57Speaker 1: forget who was there for the Mets, but maybe the
- 12:01Speaker 1: lefty Daniel Murphy was there. I forget it. But it
- 12:04Speaker 1: was awesome. I mean, there was like ten thousand people
- 12:07Speaker 1: watching us take VP in this cage, ooing and aweing,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and they had no idea what they we were doing.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We were taking swings and they're like ooh ooh, and
- 12:14Speaker 1: we were like, I was.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Right, Wait, you didn't hit it. You didn't hit it
- 12:18Speaker 2: like out of I remember the video, but you didn't
- 12:20Speaker 2: hit it like out into anything. You were hitting in
- 12:22Speaker 2: a banning cage.
- 12:23Speaker 1: We're in a batting cage. Yes, I had like a
- 12:25Speaker 1: hoodie on. I was completely unprepared to do this thing.
- 12:29Speaker 1: You were at the zoo, you were a zoom animal. Yes.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I had a pink shirt on, so I was the
- 12:33Speaker 1: pink stripe zero. I think Wayne, I know Wayne Wright
- 12:34Speaker 1: did it too. He took swings. He probably beat us all.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Ye, he's so he's so perfect.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, So anyways, I don't know. I like the changes.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I love what you said about they're always trying to
- 12:44Speaker 1: make it better. Minor league guy, sorry you're out past champion.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'd love to see someone do it, if they would
- 12:50Speaker 1: want to do it. I don't know if they would
- 12:51Speaker 1: want to do it. Bring back Sammy Sosa, let him
- 12:54Speaker 1: do it. Mark Maguire, have him do it. I don't know.
- 12:56Speaker 1: One of those guys, Frank Thomas, have him doing.
- 12:58Speaker 2: You know, I Wason Cano on the on the on
- 13:01Speaker 2: the sizzle. We could have him do it. That'd be great.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I was wondering are we drug testing or not? Because
- 13:06Speaker 1: I would change some guy's opinion that there. Although the
- 13:10Speaker 1: White Sox, Although the White Sox are doing a home
- 13:13Speaker 1: run derby July eleventh, and they have their Their list
- 13:15Speaker 1: of players includes Jose Canseco, who may or may not
- 13:18Speaker 1: have been chemically en Hans Gordon Beckham, Daniel Polka, Daniel
- 13:24Speaker 1: Pokin what and.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That dude Dangers.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Last, but not least, a guy who was confirmed steroid user,
- 13:32Speaker 1: Alexei Ramirez who just got pop in the World Classic.
- 13:36Speaker 2: He just got here. Yes, Daniel Paulka hit some apps.
- 13:42Speaker 2: He would waffle the baseball, I mean mostly in triple A,
- 13:45Speaker 2: but he had a little run in the show. He
- 13:47Speaker 2: better get on the sauce right now because alexis still
- 13:50Speaker 2: on the sauce. He literally got popped this year, so
- 13:53Speaker 2: a LEXI.
- 13:55Speaker 1: He got Popla for like four different things. Do one
- 13:57Speaker 1: like one thing? He was like, he had like a
- 13:59Speaker 1: long list of stuff. So I don't know, No, it
- 14:03Speaker 1: was it was, It wasn't. It wasn't just with a
- 14:06Speaker 1: doctor's steak like people have claimed in the past. But yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: in Mexico or whatever. It was Mark Bowman here, Rowdy
- 14:15Speaker 1: t les one of our friends of the show. Do
- 14:18Speaker 1: we call him a friend?
- 14:19Speaker 2: There?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Cratzyes remained out first base. Friend of me Yes remained
- 14:23Speaker 1: at first base night after batting for Kim, who was
- 14:26Speaker 1: a short stup. This made Matt Olsen go to right
- 14:28Speaker 1: field for the ninth inning, first time. Olsen has played
- 14:30Speaker 1: the outfield since twenty seventeen. By the way, Rowdy just
- 14:34Speaker 1: comes in and disrupts everything. It's way he does when
- 14:36Speaker 1: he comes on the show. Now he's gone to the
- 14:37Speaker 1: braves and said, Matt Olsen, I know you've played like
- 14:39Speaker 1: a thousand straight games, but now you're gonna have to go.
- 14:41Speaker 2: To right field for eight hundred and fifty straight games.
- 14:45Speaker 2: But he's still in his game streak. That wasn't the issue.
- 14:48Speaker 2: The issue was they couldn't let Rowdy go out to
- 14:51Speaker 2: the outfield because the last time he was in the
- 14:53Speaker 2: outfield he almost he fillayed his finger when he went
- 14:56Speaker 2: to rob a home run. Now, obviously in Atlanta, it's
- 14:59Speaker 2: a little different. You're not getting up that high. I
- 15:02Speaker 2: want to see Rowdy play short when he came in
- 15:04Speaker 2: for Kim. I'm like the let the big fellow pick
- 15:06Speaker 2: it a short one time.
- 15:08Speaker 1: No, no, no, I saw Jermaine Die play short once.
- 15:11Speaker 1: It wasn't He'll say he was a goal glover. It
- 15:13Speaker 1: wasn't very good. He got one inning. We lost. It
- 15:14Speaker 1: was Jermaine's fault. But in a game, in a game
- 15:17Speaker 1: in Oakland. So when you do the macular grid thing
- 15:19Speaker 1: that was so popular a couple of years ago. If
- 15:20Speaker 1: it ever says like played shortstop one game, you can
- 15:22Speaker 1: use Germaine Die. He played one inning at shortstop in
- 15:25Speaker 1: Oakland and we lost the game. This is a true story.
- 15:28Speaker 1: We lost the game on him. Aaron Rowan lost a
- 15:30Speaker 1: fly ball because Joe Creedy got kicked out. We had
- 15:32Speaker 1: everyone hurd so Aaron Rowan was playing center, lost a
- 15:34Speaker 1: fly ball in the sun double. The next guy we
- 15:37Speaker 1: had Chris Widge or our backup catcher, playing third, and
- 15:39Speaker 1: they and we had a coach. It was a minor
- 15:42Speaker 1: league coach that had never been around the big leagues.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Move widge Or off the line. Next guy hits a
- 15:45Speaker 1: chopper down third baseline, we lose. We're like, who moved him?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Brian Hope tweeted this K ball game over Yankees win
- 15:55Speaker 1: ten to five. As your final over. We're not going
- 15:56Speaker 1: to mention the next team who they beat.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Last night.
- 15:59Speaker 1: The Yankees have a three and a half game lead
- 16:00Speaker 1: in the AL East, their largest since April seventh. The
- 16:03Speaker 1: Rays had to lead, the Yankees have held the cores.
- 16:06Speaker 1: What do you think the Yankees have here? Do you
- 16:07Speaker 1: think they are the team to beat still in the
- 16:09Speaker 1: AL East, even though the Rays have gotten to play
- 16:12Speaker 1: the Dodgers the last few games.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they're a better team than the race.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I think they're gonna go through streaks. I think that
- 16:19Speaker 2: the Rays streaks are gonna be less and less. You know,
- 16:22Speaker 2: you're not gonna have these massive swings that the Yankees
- 16:26Speaker 2: get on that hot streak or the cold streak where
- 16:28Speaker 2: they face teams that are like, well, we're just gonna
- 16:31Speaker 2: execute our pitches and not let you hit homers. I
- 16:34Speaker 2: think I think they're the best team in the American League.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I think it's there are a few paces ahead of everybody.
- 16:40Speaker 2: But they're also playing a really bad White Sox team
- 16:42Speaker 2: right now who's probably gonna be in the cellar soon.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Mm hmm. That's why we didn't mention them. But they're
- 16:48Speaker 1: in first place. They're being a first place team crats,
- 16:50Speaker 1: so I'll never forget that they're being They're being a
- 16:52Speaker 1: first place Colston Montgomery did hit two homers. That was
- 16:54Speaker 1: the one bright spot. Here's the thing about the Yankees
- 16:56Speaker 1: for me. You can say whatever you want about their lineup.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Den Rice, Cody Bellinger has great, Cabby Era has been
- 17:01Speaker 1: a past right. They're pitching is so good. They're pitching
- 17:04Speaker 1: it's so good. Cole Rodn when Freed comes back. We
- 17:08Speaker 1: haven't even talked about Schlitzler, who's gonna be might be
- 17:11Speaker 1: the All Star Game starter for the al and has
- 17:13Speaker 1: a shot at the cy Young. I mean, their's pitching
- 17:16Speaker 1: is just so good, and then their bullpen has been good.
- 17:18Speaker 1: It is a good team. That Yankees are a good team.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Here are the next throwing out the first pitch. I
- 17:27Speaker 1: believe that's Jalen Brunson. I don't know who the other
- 17:30Speaker 1: guy is. Someone's gonna maybe Josh Hart. We think that's
- 17:32Speaker 1: Josh Hart. Yeah. I nailed at Villanova's finest throwing out
- 17:36Speaker 1: the first pitch to the Yankee Stadium. The other night,
- 17:38Speaker 1: the nixt one, they're having their parade, Cratzy, are you
- 17:40Speaker 1: attending since you're a Big Sixers fan.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm definitely gonna go up to the bridges that
- 17:46Speaker 2: are gonna be closed, probably burning all throughout the city
- 17:50Speaker 2: right now. I can't imagine what it's like up there,
- 17:52Speaker 2: but I would definitely say New York needs to needs
- 17:57Speaker 2: to enjoy this. They need to party like it's nineteen whatever,
- 18:01Speaker 2: seventy something the last time they won seventy three, seventy three,
- 18:07Speaker 2: fifty three years. Enjoy it, enjoy it. And I love
- 18:11Speaker 2: the fact that Philadelphia is really the reason that they
- 18:14Speaker 2: won with the three Villanova guys. So shocker that Philadelphia
- 18:19Speaker 2: has has a way for the Knicks to win it,
- 18:22Speaker 2: but Knicks fans unite, enjoy it. Maybe they brought a
- 18:25Speaker 2: little mojo to the to the Bronx so that the
- 18:28Speaker 2: Bronx can win a win a championship this year.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Did you see what Aaron Judge said Aaron Judge said
- 18:34Speaker 1: the Knicks winning and the Yankees in October would bring
- 18:36Speaker 1: world peace. What about Mets fans? Why has it got
- 18:39Speaker 1: to be the Yankees? Why is what about the Mets?
- 18:41Speaker 1: If the Mets win orange of blue? Right the Knicks
- 18:43Speaker 1: or orange of blue? The Mets are orange and blue.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, that's that's like drafting a kicker
- 18:49Speaker 2: in the second round. It's a little bit of a
- 18:51Speaker 2: reach of a little bit of a reach of a comment.
- 18:54Speaker 2: But Judges an Esquire, and Juan Soto's not an Esquire,
- 18:58Speaker 2: so he gets he he gets to have the quotes.
- 19:03Speaker 1: True. True. I don't know. I mean, we talked about
- 19:06Speaker 1: how good Dankes was. It was cool, though I don't
- 19:08Speaker 1: I'm not a huge NBA guy, but it was pretty awesome.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I remember watching Game five and I looked at the
- 19:13Speaker 1: score and they were up. They were down like sixteen.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, the Knicks are gonna win. And I
- 19:16Speaker 1: turned it off because they were down in every game.
- 19:19Speaker 1: They were down double digits and they came back and
- 19:21Speaker 1: went Scott That's why Scott's off today. He's at the parade,
- 19:24Speaker 1: so he's there. Yes, he's one of those people that
- 19:27Speaker 1: climbed the poles. He's hanging on the pole. You know
- 19:30Speaker 1: the people that climb the poles. He's like hanging on
- 19:32Speaker 1: a street sign. Ah, Jalen, I love you and his
- 19:35Speaker 1: hair flow but in the wind.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yep yep with his new haircut that he just got
- 19:40Speaker 2: exactly from his barber up there in the Bronx, in
- 19:42Speaker 2: the Bronx, So I.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Mean, congratulations, Nicks. It was cool to see now even
- 19:46Speaker 1: go on to the World Cup. Because hockey's done, Basketball
- 19:50Speaker 1: is done. It's baseball and soccer.

- 20:59Speaker 1: Breaking news AJJ. Cooper of Baseball America in the Hot
- 21:02Speaker 1: Sheet show here on Foul Territory Network, Major League Baseball
- 21:04Speaker 1: presented a proposal to the MLBPA today that would, if adopted,
- 21:09Speaker 1: result in a sweeping change to all aspects of amateur
- 21:12Speaker 1: talent acquisition. Among notable points, high school players would no
- 21:16Speaker 1: longer be draft eligible. JJ, I absolutely hate this idea.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I was a high school draft pick and they said,
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think it also includes they have to go to
- 21:27Speaker 1: college for two years instead of the three. Now, krats,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I love your thumb's out. Basically, what this is saying
- 21:32Speaker 1: is they want college baseball to be the new minor leagues.
- 21:35Speaker 1: They're going to take the draft from twenty rounds to twelve,
- 21:37Speaker 1: less players, less minor league affiliates, which equals, guess what, crafts,
- 21:41Speaker 1: less money the owners have to spend. It's amazing how
- 21:44Speaker 1: it always comes back to the owners spending the least
- 21:47Speaker 1: amount of money is possible. And I know you were
- 21:49Speaker 1: not drafted in the first twenty rounds. I was a
- 21:52Speaker 1: high school guy, so I would add to go to college.
- 21:54Speaker 1: But not being drafted in the twenty rounds, Explain what
- 21:58Speaker 1: that means, because that is incredible that they keep cutting
- 22:00Speaker 1: this thing shorter.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And shorter they do. They keep cutting opportunities.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Now.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Now, don't get wrong, when I was drafted in the
- 22:07Speaker 2: twenty ninth round, they always said, you know what, everybody
- 22:10Speaker 2: after the fifth or sixth round is really just there
- 22:14Speaker 2: to play with the guys from the first five rounds. Like,
- 22:18Speaker 2: I get that part of it. I'm not ignorant to
- 22:21Speaker 2: that part of it. But you know what else this does.
- 22:23Speaker 2: This eliminates guys from getting into professional baseball till they're
- 22:29Speaker 2: at least twenty years old. Now, all of a sudden,
- 22:32Speaker 2: all your free agents don't hit free agency in the
- 22:36Speaker 2: big leagues till you're twenty eight to twenty nine years old, which,
- 22:41Speaker 2: as we just found out this last free agent's free
- 22:44Speaker 2: agent go round with Juan Soto, he reached free agency
- 22:48Speaker 2: at a ripe young age that you will never be
- 22:51Speaker 2: able to reach again if you're not able to be
- 22:53Speaker 2: drafted out of high school, which keeps salaries down of
- 22:56Speaker 2: the major big time guys and also all the money
- 23:00Speaker 2: many cost savings that you already mentioned, Ajay, So it's
- 23:03Speaker 2: just really a cost saving thing that they're looking to do.
- 23:06Speaker 2: There's no in my opinion, there's there's no developmental benefit,
- 23:10Speaker 2: there's no physical benefit, there's no benefit for the game
- 23:14Speaker 2: to grow because you're you're going to start acting even
- 23:18Speaker 2: more of the minor league teams, which develops the love
- 23:22Speaker 2: for baseball all around American small town America.
- 23:26Speaker 1: True, you're right, and listen, we just showed the Lincoln
- 23:31Speaker 1: Salt Dogs manager getting ejected. That's why independent teams are
- 23:33Speaker 1: popping up left and right, because people want to go
- 23:35Speaker 1: to games, people want to watch baseball. Minor league baseball
- 23:38Speaker 1: in some of these towns was the lifeblood of some
- 23:40Speaker 1: of these towns. I played in the Appalachian League, right,
- 23:42Speaker 1: elizabeth and Tennessee, and never would have lived there Johnson City, Tennessee.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Right if it wasn't for the Appalachian League. The low A.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I was in the midwestlegu and Fort Wayne, Indiana, and
- 23:51Speaker 1: I never would have golled Appleton, Wisconsin, and and some
- 23:54Speaker 1: places in Iowa that I went to. I mean a Clinton, Iowa.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Have you ever been there? It spells like dog food
- 23:58Speaker 1: because there's a dog food plant there. It smells like
- 24:01Speaker 1: dog food all day long. Right, But I never would
- 24:03Speaker 1: have gone there. And you go to these games. There's
- 24:05Speaker 1: a few couple thousand people at all these games. So
- 24:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I think this is unbelievable. I think
- 24:11Speaker 1: this again, this is just a proposal. JJ Cooper was
- 24:14Speaker 1: on it. I just hate that they're limiting the possibility.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Don Mattingly was like a fortieth round draft pick or
- 24:21Speaker 1: whatever he was. There's been a lot of guys that
- 24:22Speaker 1: have made it that have been lower picks. You're a
- 24:24Speaker 1: perfect example, Crotzy. But this just limits the talent pool,
- 24:27Speaker 1: and they limits the accessibility to the minor leagues. In
- 24:30Speaker 1: a minor league baseball for a lot of players that
- 24:32Speaker 1: otherwise wouldn't be given a chance. And then if you're
- 24:34Speaker 1: going to do this, how do you limit the Latin
- 24:37Speaker 1: guys Because Latin guys signed for less money usually than
- 24:39Speaker 1: the American people that are involved in the draft. The
- 24:42Speaker 1: world people that are involved in a draft, so now
- 24:44Speaker 1: they're going to want to go to a world draft, right,
- 24:46Speaker 1: So then you throw the Latin American countries in on this.
- 24:49Speaker 1: So those twelve rounds, it is really hard to get
- 24:51Speaker 1: drafted at that point.
- 24:54Speaker 2: And it just the hardest part for me is what
- 24:56Speaker 2: I said, the fact that you're eliminating small town America
- 25:01Speaker 2: from professional baseball. Now, some people would say minor league
- 25:05Speaker 2: baseball is not professional baseball, but that is how you
- 25:09Speaker 2: keep a community injected with baseball. When Batavia, New York,
- 25:15Speaker 2: while it wasn't the nicest field, or Oneata, New York
- 25:19Speaker 2: not the nicest fields to play on, those communities surrounded
- 25:24Speaker 2: those teams and those players year in and year out.
- 25:27Speaker 2: And now those teams are eliminated. Yes they have the
- 25:29Speaker 2: draft league. Yes, that's Major League Baseball's way of sufficing
- 25:34Speaker 2: those people who are crying about that. And the more
- 25:37Speaker 2: Major League Baseball takes its product out of those areas,
- 25:42Speaker 2: the more those areas are just going to start adopting
- 25:44Speaker 2: other sports. They're just going to lose their foothold in
- 25:49Speaker 2: those areas. I'm not saying you're producing Major League Baseball talent, No,
- 25:53Speaker 2: that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that we want
- 25:55Speaker 2: to grow the game. How do you do it? You
- 25:58Speaker 2: do it in little ways like that that continue to
- 26:01Speaker 2: amplify the game in certain areas and not just in
- 26:04Speaker 2: the hot most highly populated areas well.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I mean, right, it has to have them, and they
- 26:09Speaker 1: have to go international draft, right, because that's the next step.
- 26:11Speaker 1: This has always been one of those things in CBAS
- 26:13Speaker 1: that I've been a part of and I haven't played
- 26:15Speaker 1: again for a long time, but I remember in twenty
- 26:17Speaker 1: sixteen there was a CBA I think after in twenty
- 26:19Speaker 1: twenty one was the next one, right, and this was
- 26:22Speaker 1: all internet. We have to have an international drafting. Latin
- 26:24Speaker 1: players have fought this forever. But now if you cut
- 26:26Speaker 1: it down from we think if you go international draft,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you would go more rounds because now you have to
- 26:32Speaker 1: include the international players along with the domestic players here
- 26:35Speaker 1: in the North America that have to be in the draft.
- 26:37Speaker 1: So I don't understand this. It also you know what,
- 26:40Speaker 1: it also cuts the draft pool from three hundred and
- 26:42Speaker 1: fifty eight million to two hundred million. There's one hundred
- 26:45Speaker 1: and fifty eight million each team will save. I mean again,
- 26:48Speaker 1: it goes back to saving money. This is why. This
- 26:50Speaker 1: is why Rob Manfred got rid of minor league teams.
- 26:52Speaker 1: This is why Rob Manfred has cut in Major League
- 26:56Speaker 1: Baseball has cut the draft down. He used to be
- 26:57Speaker 1: unlimited rounds. It was twenty rounds. It's it's all about
- 27:01Speaker 1: saving money. I'm sorry.
- 27:04Speaker 2: It is. And I would love to hear the rebuttal
- 27:07Speaker 2: on this if we ever get to talk to Rob
- 27:10Speaker 2: Manfred and the gang, like, I want to hear what
- 27:13Speaker 2: the reason is. What do they feel the overall benefit
- 27:16Speaker 2: is going to be. And if it's anything besides money,
- 27:19Speaker 2: then it would it would open my eyes. I'd be like, oh, okay,
- 27:22Speaker 2: I never really thought about that. I never thought about
- 27:24Speaker 2: the fact that you're trying to increase development at the
- 27:29Speaker 2: at the college ranks. I've heard people say, oh, yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 2: major League Baseball is going to infuse two million dollars
- 27:35Speaker 2: into all the four Power for schools, all those conferences.
- 27:42Speaker 2: They're going to infuse this money and those teams do not.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Those coaches are built to win in the moment, development
- 27:51Speaker 2: and winning rarely go hand in hand. Can you develop
- 27:55Speaker 2: and win at the same time, Yes, But when your
- 27:58Speaker 2: baseball coach at said college in the Power for conferences
- 28:03Speaker 2: is getting paid millions of dollars, he's there to get
- 28:07Speaker 2: paid to win, not develop guys. Oooh, this guy hasn't
- 28:11Speaker 2: won a College World Series yet at this Power for conference,
- 28:15Speaker 2: but he's gotten fifty guys drafted. No school is going
- 28:19Speaker 2: to keep paying that money. So that's where I think
- 28:22Speaker 2: Major League Baseball is missing the boat.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Also, what happens if you don't go to a Power
- 28:26Speaker 1: four school and they don't get the money and they
- 28:28Speaker 1: don't have the development, so that you just only play
- 28:30Speaker 1: at the Power four schools to have a chance. Like
- 28:31Speaker 1: there's a lot of guys that have come from outside
- 28:33Speaker 1: Power for right, So that's what they're saying, I know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: So that also doesn't make sense. And then also this
- 28:39Speaker 1: was interesting. I thought in this proposal, the new draft
- 28:42Speaker 1: would be restricted to players who are at least eighteen
- 28:44Speaker 1: years old. International draft as opposed to sixteen under the
- 28:47Speaker 1: current system. It would consist of twelve hard slot rounds
- 28:51Speaker 1: with an initial signing buduspool to only two hundred million
- 28:54Speaker 1: for three hundred and sixty amateur players residing outside the
- 28:57Speaker 1: United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. So are they just
- 29:00Speaker 1: to do an and are they? That doesn't mean that
- 29:03Speaker 1: has to be written wrong or I read it wrong right?
- 29:05Speaker 1: So you only you get three hundred and sixty players drafted,
- 29:08Speaker 1: including Latin America, United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Okay,
- 29:12Speaker 1: but why does the US player have to go to
- 29:14Speaker 1: college for two years but a Latin player can just
- 29:17Speaker 1: sign at eighteen? That doesn't that also doesn't make sense
- 29:20Speaker 1: to me. And if this is correct what I'm reading, No, no, no,
- 29:23Speaker 1: it would be no that the international draft would be
- 29:27Speaker 1: restricted to people at least eighteen years old, So they
- 29:30Speaker 1: would they will be talking about a international draft that
- 29:34Speaker 1: would be the same as the big the whatever it is,
- 29:39Speaker 1: the United States draft, the Puerto Rico draft, which is
- 29:42Speaker 1: twelve rounds, So they're saying that they would infuse more
- 29:46Speaker 1: money into that, but they would have a hard capped
- 29:49Speaker 1: at twelve rounds for the international draft. So again though,
- 29:54Speaker 1: there's another case. They have to be eighteen years old.
- 29:57Speaker 1: What is cost owners? What does cost owners the most
- 30:01Speaker 1: money in free agent signings. It's the guys who are younger.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Glad he got more money because he would have been
- 30:07Speaker 1: a free agent when he was younger. Yes, he signed
- 30:10Speaker 1: an extension early. Wan Soto got more money than anybody
- 30:14Speaker 1: else ever because he was one of the youngest free
- 30:16Speaker 1: agents ever. Now, if you push it back two years,
- 30:19Speaker 1: people will say, oh, well, you know they'll just be
- 30:21Speaker 1: more developed.
- 30:22Speaker 2: No, they won't. You have to play the professional game
- 30:24Speaker 2: a certain amount. I had to play a thousand games.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Aj had to play five hundred, Juan Soto had to
- 30:30Speaker 2: play one hundred and ninety. You know, different guys have
- 30:33Speaker 2: to play a certain amount to be able to be
- 30:36Speaker 2: bigle ready. And if owners can right out of the
- 30:39Speaker 2: gate make those players older, they pay less for them
- 30:43Speaker 2: on the back end.
- 30:45Speaker 1: True. And also, here's my other thing. Why can't they
- 30:48Speaker 1: be drafted an eighteen But a US kid who graduated
- 30:50Speaker 1: high school has to go two years in college to
- 30:51Speaker 1: where they're twenty or twenty one years old, Right, why
- 30:54Speaker 1: would a US kid? It's really good, We'll use Bryce
- 30:56Speaker 1: Harper who skipped a senior high school. When did you go? Well,
- 30:59Speaker 1: if I have a that I think's good, enough, I'll
- 31:01Speaker 1: move to the Dominican for a year and let him
- 31:04Speaker 1: sign at eighteen, and you get him started on his
- 31:06Speaker 1: professional career at eighteen, as opposed to waiting in America
- 31:10Speaker 1: where he has to go for two years. What's stopping
- 31:12Speaker 1: people this is, this doesn't this doesn't make sense. And
- 31:15Speaker 1: I know that that. People will say, well, you know,
- 31:18Speaker 1: Latin American people now can sign a sixteen and it's corrupt. Well,
- 31:20Speaker 1: in high school, I was drafted at seventeen and signed,
- 31:23Speaker 1: So wasn't that big of a difference, right, eighteen years
- 31:25Speaker 1: old is fine, But they also don't start at the
- 31:28Speaker 1: Dominican Academy for year or two or there Venezuelan Academy
- 31:31Speaker 1: for year or two. They jump into the Complex League,
- 31:34Speaker 1: whereas most of the Latin guys that sign have to
- 31:36Speaker 1: go to the Complex League for a year or two
- 31:38Speaker 1: before they're brought over to the States, and they're most
- 31:40Speaker 1: of the time it's pretty equal. I mean I played
- 31:41Speaker 1: with guys when I signed at seventeen that were eighteen seventeen,
- 31:45Speaker 1: and then there were some college guys too that were
- 31:46Speaker 1: low rounders that were just there and hoping them to
- 31:49Speaker 1: live their dreams. So I don't know this whole thing
- 31:52Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. It's about saving money. We'll see if
- 31:55Speaker 1: they can get it past. I don't know that this
- 31:56Speaker 1: is just a proposal to get people talking.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Is proposal, and it saddens me to know that it's
- 32:03Speaker 2: probably going to go to sixteen rounds because if they
- 32:05Speaker 2: offered twelve major, the Players Association already has it at twenty. Okay,
- 32:12Speaker 2: well we'll meet in the middle ground. Okay, we'll get
- 32:14Speaker 2: the international draft. Okay, we'll eliminate some of those slot
- 32:17Speaker 2: like it's it's a negotiation. So this is probably extreme,
- 32:24Speaker 2: but it's just it's just it's just slightly degradation every
- 32:30Speaker 2: single that like just a little bit off, a little
- 32:32Speaker 2: bit off, a little bit off, until the owners can
- 32:35Speaker 2: keep saving off money and their businesses, which are supposed
- 32:38Speaker 2: to be competitive teams fighting against each other to try
- 32:42Speaker 2: to win the championship, just turns into a more and
- 32:45Speaker 2: more successful money making business.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Bob Nightingale Air Cratsey, this is your Phillies Demote rookie
- 32:53Speaker 1: starter Andrew Paynter the Triple A Lehigh Valley this year.
- 32:57Speaker 1: He is one in eight with a seven this year,
- 33:00Speaker 1: and I think we were watching him pitch yesterday and
- 33:02Speaker 1: we both were kind of texting back and forth, like, man,
- 33:04Speaker 1: he does not look good. He is on the struggle
- 33:06Speaker 1: bus right now. Maybe this is a reset. I know
- 33:08Speaker 1: he's coming off the arm surgery, missing some time. He's
- 33:11Speaker 1: still super young. This is just a reset, right and
- 33:13Speaker 1: hopefully Andrew Pater will be back quickly.
- 33:17Speaker 2: It's a reset to try to figure out how to
- 33:19Speaker 2: get some deception back. And one of the things that
- 33:21Speaker 2: I said when I saw him three years ago and
- 33:24Speaker 2: he was twenty years old and he was dominating in
- 33:27Speaker 2: Big League camp as a nineteen twenty year old was
- 33:29Speaker 2: the fact that he's super tall, and he's super athletic
- 33:33Speaker 2: and will help him make changes. Well, right now, he
- 33:36Speaker 2: needs to make some major changes in the fact that
- 33:40Speaker 2: he's being seen really well by hitters. And I'm not
- 33:43Speaker 2: saying I've talked to hitters. I watched the games. It
- 33:46Speaker 2: is pitches that are on the corner that are getting whacked.
- 33:52Speaker 2: He's He's not he doesn't have enough deception from his
- 33:56Speaker 2: large frame. He actually faced Yamamoto and him faced all off,
- 34:00Speaker 2: and I saw a side by side comparison of both
- 34:03Speaker 2: of their stride lengths, and Yamamoto, who is six foot
- 34:07Speaker 2: or just under six foot, has the same stride length
- 34:10Speaker 2: and release point as Andrew Paynter, who is six foot seven.
- 34:14Speaker 2: So you go to that and you say, okay, now
- 34:16Speaker 2: he's going back down the Lehigh Valley. How does he
- 34:20Speaker 2: make the change? It's not, hey, you got have to
- 34:21Speaker 2: throw more strikes. Hey, don't give up so many home runs.
- 34:24Speaker 2: What is the actual physical change? It's going to bring
- 34:27Speaker 2: deception back that it seems like he kind of lost
- 34:30Speaker 2: after his Tommy John surgery because last year in Triple
- 34:33Speaker 2: A a full season, it wasn't going well. But that
- 34:36Speaker 2: was a lot of command. So we'll see what he does,
- 34:38Speaker 2: what kind of changes he makes in Triple A.
- 34:44Speaker 1: All right, here we go. Max Suers are again kratzy
- 34:47Speaker 1: fifteen toil with back spasms. He said, I most belief
- 34:50Speaker 1: he can still pitch and help the team win. Forty
- 34:53Speaker 1: one years old, Max thirty five hundred crew strikeouts, he's
- 34:56Speaker 1: still trying to do it. Is this the last Neuve Seno,
- 34:59Speaker 1: Max Schurzer, or can he come back and help this
- 35:01Speaker 1: team win?
- 35:03Speaker 2: I heard you went on a Blue Jays show earlier today.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I went on a Blue Jays show yesterday afternoon, and
- 35:09Speaker 2: that's what They asked me, do they see Max Scherzer
- 35:13Speaker 2: on the mound again for the Blue Jays, And I
- 35:15Speaker 2: say yes, I don't care how many guys are coming back.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I think there is an intangible value that Max Scherzer
- 35:23Speaker 2: gives in playoff time, in crunch time in September, that
- 35:27Speaker 2: they're going to give him an option. This team has
- 35:29Speaker 2: not stayed healthy enough on the field. Is it going
- 35:32Speaker 2: to be cy young Max Scherzer. I'll be honest, I
- 35:36Speaker 2: have no idea. Last year in the World Series, he
- 35:39Speaker 2: absolutely dug deep into the early two thousands to throw.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Some of the fastballs that he was throwing. He looked
- 35:45Speaker 2: like tigers. He looked like NAT's Max Scherzer throwing ninety
- 35:49Speaker 2: seven ninety eight in the playoffs. So what does he
- 35:51Speaker 2: have left? I don't know, but I think he pitches again.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Me too, I think he will. I think he'll come
- 35:56Speaker 1: back and listen all if they get into the postseason
- 36:00Speaker 1: and he can give him what he gave him last
- 36:02Speaker 1: year in the postseason, which was really good old school
- 36:04Speaker 1: Max Scherzer, they'll take it, right, they'll take it if
- 36:07Speaker 1: you go Gosman cees his savage and then you need
- 36:11Speaker 1: Scherzer to give you some bulk somewhere in another game.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I think the Blue Jays would be more than happy
- 36:16Speaker 1: with that.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Bieber will be back. Yeah, I mean they want these obviously,
- 36:20Speaker 2: they want these guys back, and I just don't think
- 36:23Speaker 2: you can say no, Max shut it down. I don't think.
- 36:28Speaker 2: I don't think that's even him being around the team.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I think helps.
- 36:32Speaker 1: So yes, I see him back in the uniform, and yes,
- 36:34Speaker 1: I see him back on the mountain, all right. Daniel
- 36:49Speaker 1: Kramer tweeted this exus, I guess it's exodus now. Crazy.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Julio Rodriguez and Luke Rayley are not in the lineup
- 36:56Speaker 1: for today's Matt and Avers Baltimore, but Josh Naylor has
- 36:59Speaker 1: return in his playing first base. Also, Cal Rawley is
- 37:01Speaker 1: DH and Which Garver is catching man. The Mariners are
- 37:05Speaker 1: beat up badly, and they called up a guy for
- 37:07Speaker 1: one day for Mayball who's hitting under two hundred, which
- 37:09Speaker 1: is one of the stories if he did not get
- 37:11Speaker 1: to but hey, he got a day I think in
- 37:13Speaker 1: the big leagues, but did not get to play. So
- 37:15Speaker 1: he's like one of those ghost player guys. Yeah, I
- 37:18Speaker 1: never played. He's not.
- 37:19Speaker 2: He doesn't. He doesn't go on the list. Maybe he
- 37:21Speaker 2: gets recalled back up, who knows.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is bad. The Mariners are trying to
- 37:26Speaker 1: get back, they're trying to get back into healthy. They're
- 37:27Speaker 1: still in first place, so we'll see what they can do.
- 37:30Speaker 1: But with that pitching, as long as they're not pickybacking,
- 37:32Speaker 1: they'll be fine. Crafts. What you got on your head
- 37:33Speaker 1: looks like USA to.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Me, finally I've had one. I've had one more WBC
- 37:41Speaker 2: hat I think. I think this is the last one
- 37:43Speaker 2: I had, saved the best for last America.
- 37:47Speaker 1: All right, well, USA is a huge soccer game. We'll
- 37:49Speaker 1: do bet MGM here in a minute. Krauts. By the way, Also,
- 37:52Speaker 1: Quinn Prieser needs thoracic outlet surgery, which is I always
- 37:56Speaker 1: thought it was like where a blood vessel got pinched
- 37:59Speaker 1: underneath your arm, because I know a lot of pictures
- 38:01Speaker 1: usually have this, But it's actually where a bundle of
- 38:05Speaker 1: nerves running through your neck gets kind of and you
- 38:07Speaker 1: can't feel your fingers. Doctor Gregory Pearl in Dallas is
- 38:11Speaker 1: going to do the surgery on Quinn Priester. Get better.
- 38:14Speaker 1: This is what Zach Wheeler had last year, right.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Zach Wheeler's was symptomatic through blood clots, which is like,
- 38:22Speaker 2: that's scary, Canary. A lot of guys have pain that
- 38:27Speaker 2: gets anywhere from the collar bone up in through their
- 38:31Speaker 2: neck and down through their shoulders. So it's painful, but
- 38:35Speaker 2: it seems like it's becoming more more common. This is
- 38:39Speaker 2: no nanosurgery. There's no nano needle surgery. Is this?
- 38:43Speaker 1: Do you think this is from people lifting more? Maybe
- 38:45Speaker 1: because it has become more common lifting getting tighter up
- 38:48Speaker 1: in here, more arm exercises, more band I don't know, throwing,
- 38:51Speaker 1: I don't know. Why have we seen this?
- 38:54Speaker 2: I have no idea. I think it's just a diagnosis
- 38:56Speaker 2: that maybe would have been diagnosed as something else before,
- 38:58Speaker 2: and this alleviate some of that stress. It's actually it's
- 39:02Speaker 2: actually two ribs that are pinching on each other and
- 39:06Speaker 2: that nerve is getting and the nerve is getting irritated.
- 39:09Speaker 2: For Wheeler, like I said before, it was actually it
- 39:14Speaker 2: was an area where they found the clot and then
- 39:16Speaker 2: they found out that there wasn't enough circulation through there.
- 39:19Speaker 2: So just alleviating that. Who knows because you hear shoulders
- 39:22Speaker 2: and you say it all the time, I say it
- 39:24Speaker 2: all the time. You hear shoulder and you're like, don't
- 39:26Speaker 2: want to hear that. If this alleviates that and maybe
- 39:29Speaker 2: creates a little bit more flexibility, who knows what it does.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm not a doctor. But hopefully this
- 39:36Speaker 2: elongates and gives some longevity to some pitchers.
