- 4:15Speaker 8: What I've been thinking today over in my mind for
- 4:26Speaker 8: probably the last couple of days, and the reason being
- 4:29Speaker 8: is that Simon, I've known you for over thirty years,
- 4:33Speaker 8: not as a close friend or whatever, but since the
- 4:36Speaker 8: since the days back in that fucking little cubicle that
- 4:41Speaker 8: was Modern Invasion music and you used to.
- 4:44Speaker 9: Have that that long hair down the front, you know,
- 4:46Speaker 9: being ast medal as fuck, Matt.
- 4:49Speaker 8: I've known you since twenty seventeen when I first saw
- 4:53Speaker 8: you play with Abramawin. Simon, some of my closest, sorry,
- 4:58Speaker 8: fondest memories of being a metal journalist and doing what
- 5:03Speaker 8: I've done for so long is having you as a
- 5:07Speaker 8: part of my metal existence. And I'm not going to
- 5:13Speaker 8: fanboy with this at all, but those times when I
- 5:16Speaker 8: used to ring you, when you used to work at
- 5:17Speaker 8: Shock and stuff, and you and Sally used to come
- 5:20Speaker 8: into the studio and you know we used to kind
- 5:24Speaker 8: of hang out and stuff. You know, they actually formed
- 5:27Speaker 8: a very very big part of who I am as
- 5:31Speaker 8: an extreme metal fan and where I am today. I
- 5:36Speaker 8: would like to ask you what made you who you
- 5:40Speaker 8: are today?
- 5:41Speaker 10: Wow?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Look God saying well, I mean Look, it's a whole
- 5:52Speaker 1: lot of life experiences really, and I mean it's a
- 5:55Speaker 1: lot of that is from the places I worked, and
- 6:01Speaker 1: probably more so than definitely spoken much time that I
- 6:08Speaker 1: worked working track when I was there for over ten
- 6:12Speaker 1: years the first time, so being being part of the industry,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know, like working all of the big international metal
- 6:22Speaker 1: labels that I worked, and you know, going overseas and
- 6:25Speaker 1: hanging with said labels, touring with all the bands that
- 6:29Speaker 1: we toured back then.
- 6:32Speaker 11: Yeah, it's everything I suppose and then and then I
- 6:36Speaker 11: think a big part of that too for me, like
- 6:38Speaker 11: you know, being you know, doing what I do in
- 6:41Speaker 11: today with them, and just in my life in general too.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I mean, of course for anyone who knows me, like
- 6:47Speaker 1: horror in general has been a massive.
- 6:50Speaker 11: Influence in my life and and and still is to
- 6:54Speaker 11: this very day.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I mean I've been reading Horror for over forty years
- 6:57Speaker 1: and watching it for as long as I can remember,
- 6:59Speaker 1: back into my childhood.
- 7:00Speaker 11: So that's always shaped things for me.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So yeah, nasty music, nasty films, nasty books makes a
- 7:06Speaker 1: happy guy.
- 7:10Speaker 9: And a perfect husband and father as well. Yeah, for sure, Matt,
- 7:17Speaker 9: I don't know you that.
- 7:18Speaker 8: Well, but we have spoken a fair bit, and yes,
- 7:21Speaker 8: we have talked a lot about Abramlain And I realized
- 7:24Speaker 8: today when I had my T shirt on, I've actually
- 7:26Speaker 8: it was at the Parkas show, when we're at the
- 7:28Speaker 8: Northcott Norcott Theater, which is when you surprised me with
- 7:31Speaker 8: that beautiful news.
- 7:34Speaker 9: You are prolific, you are extreme, You've been You've been
- 7:37Speaker 9: around for a long time. Saying back at you, mate,
- 7:40Speaker 9: what made you the person that you are today?
- 7:44Speaker 12: Well, this is going to all sound a bit sort
- 7:46Speaker 12: of a bit contrived and weird, but I've got to say,
- 7:51Speaker 12: fucking a Bremla and Blake is it played a big
- 7:56Speaker 12: part of who I am now and sort of why
- 8:00Speaker 12: and where I am. You know, I was, I mean,
- 8:04Speaker 12: as well as fucking everything else in life, of course,
- 8:07Speaker 12: you know, experiences and people and bands and everything. But
- 8:13Speaker 12: you know I used to go and see a Bremlin play.
- 8:15Speaker 12: The first time I saw a Bremlin play, I was,
- 8:18Speaker 12: I was underage, and it was it was at the
- 8:21Speaker 12: fucking all ages Campbell Corps show. You're right and yeah,
- 8:27Speaker 12: and after seeing that, seeing a Bremlin there, that sort
- 8:32Speaker 12: of just set me on a bit of a path.
- 8:33Speaker 12: And you know, I was already into death metal of course,
- 8:36Speaker 12: but yeah that like you know me and you know
- 8:42Speaker 12: on the people sort of my age. So I mean,
- 8:45Speaker 12: like you know Dave, Dave Hailey, he's the same lot
- 8:48Speaker 12: we both loved of Bremlin when we were younger, you know.
- 8:52Speaker 12: And if it wasn't for sort of me, you know,
- 8:59Speaker 12: all that years ago sort of you know, tracking down
- 9:02Speaker 12: Simon at shop and saying, look, you know, if you
- 9:05Speaker 12: guys need a guitarist, I'll play, and then it all
- 9:09Speaker 12: came to fruition and then me sort of you know,
- 9:11Speaker 12: sitting there learning all those old songs of the self
- 9:14Speaker 12: titled album and the the EP prior. You know, like
- 9:18Speaker 12: if I hadn't learned those songs all that time ago,
- 9:22Speaker 12: you know, I'd be a different guitarist than what I
- 9:24Speaker 12: am now. And given the guitar is obviously such a
- 9:28Speaker 12: fucking massive part of my life, I'd be a different
- 9:31Speaker 12: person than what I am now if it wasn't for
- 9:34Speaker 12: you know, joining at Bremlin when I was young and
- 9:38Speaker 12: just learning all that stuff and just being for me
- 9:40Speaker 12: with that album when I was young as well. So yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 12: all of the usual shit in life. And also a
- 9:46Speaker 12: Remblin twenty five years ago with me on the path
- 9:49Speaker 12: of who I am and where I am Now.
- 9:51Speaker 8: That is beautiful, Matt, like, that is the epitome of
- 9:56Speaker 8: a Bramla and Simon, and I promise I'm not going
- 9:59Speaker 8: to fan and my dog. Actually a couple of months
- 10:02Speaker 8: ago wrecked my Carcass heartwork to a poster frame that
- 10:08Speaker 8: the post is still fine. But that was when, like
- 10:11Speaker 8: the first time I saw you, I have that I
- 10:13Speaker 8: have the modern in vision mud Invasion makes modern people,
- 10:16Speaker 8: you know. I still have that black and yellow and
- 10:18Speaker 8: red acron supporting supporting Carcass.
- 10:22Speaker 9: And it was on Australian Music Day.
- 10:24Speaker 8: In nineteen ninety three and I traveled four and a
- 10:27Speaker 8: half hours from Warnable to see you and Carcass that day.
- 10:31Speaker 8: That's like, I cannot understate how important that Abramlin are
- 10:37Speaker 8: not only in Australian music but in death metal overall period.
- 10:44Speaker 8: Like when I found out that you were reforming, I
- 10:47Speaker 8: fucking lost my mind. The only two other bands that
- 10:49Speaker 8: I would ever do that for is Damaged an Acid
- 10:53Speaker 8: Bath right transgression from Acron is it still holds up to.
- 10:57Speaker 9: This day, Mate, thirty years later.
- 10:58Speaker 8: You have to agree human Able Avatoire and Humbler Bow,
- 11:02Speaker 8: the two of the like the greatest metal songs ever written, Matt,
- 11:05Speaker 8: would you agree.
- 11:06Speaker 12: Yep, I'd say human averatoise, like fucking just timeless, you know,
- 11:11Speaker 12: Like I love that song. I'm so happy that we
- 11:12Speaker 12: play it every you know, it's just like it's the
- 11:15Speaker 12: one that I'm waiting for in the scent anyway, because
- 11:21Speaker 12: it's the easiest, so.
- 11:25Speaker 13: Dave, But no, you're right, I want to go back
- 11:28Speaker 13: to ninety three, ninety four, sorry ninety two when you
- 11:32Speaker 13: when you wrote that and playing it now, do you like,
- 11:36Speaker 13: are you obviously readinvigorator because you're back in a Bromlin,
- 11:41Speaker 13: But does it take you back to a time.
- 11:43Speaker 9: That was very very special? Yeah?
- 11:45Speaker 6: It does.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I mean when we recorded that EP back in Jesus
- 11:49Speaker 1: was ninety three, ninety four whatever it was when we
- 11:51Speaker 1: did it was you know, like I started at shocking
- 11:54Speaker 1: ninety four and then it wasn't too long after that.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I jumped on board and said, right, you needn straight away,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and they did, which was pretty cool. But yeah, I mean,
- 12:04Speaker 1: that was such an amazing time in metal back then.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You know, it was a particularly amazing time for metal,
- 12:10Speaker 1: Like all the bands we were playing with back then,
- 12:12Speaker 1: it was it was fucking.
- 12:13Speaker 11: So good, and that whole experience of recording back then.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I was ironically, I was doing an interview earlier on
- 12:18Speaker 1: Today and they were asking about the recording process of
- 12:23Speaker 1: Sins of the Father, and I was comparing it to
- 12:26Speaker 1: the recording process of like when we did Transgression all
- 12:29Speaker 1: the way back then, and like how different it was,
- 12:32Speaker 1: you know, as opposed.
- 12:33Speaker 11: To how I do it now. It's just like or
- 12:35Speaker 11: how we all do it now. Yeah, it's very, very different.
- 12:39Speaker 1: So the recording process that like doing it, like Justin
- 12:42Speaker 1: who was playing bass for us back at the time, did.
- 12:46Speaker 11: In house at our commercial radio station in the city,
- 12:49Speaker 11: which makes it even more hilarreous.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and.
- 12:54Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, look, it definitely does take me back.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But like I still I really enjoy playing Human in
- 13:00Speaker 1: this day at age two because it's like I sing
- 13:03Speaker 1: it differently to the way I used to sing it
- 13:04Speaker 1: back then, and I like the way that the energy
- 13:08Speaker 1: of every time we play, like we know what we
- 13:10Speaker 1: create on the stage where it brings on the crown
- 13:12Speaker 1: always gets people.
- 13:15Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, always like that said, exactly right, all.
- 13:19Speaker 11: Right, this is asignment from a bremlin and.
- 13:20Speaker 14: This is human happy.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah m hm.
- 15:00Speaker 14: Oh.
- 16:21Speaker 5: The ball.
- 16:28Speaker 4: By the door, the.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Door both got to do.
- 18:58Speaker 11: Signon from a bremlin again and this is.
- 19:01Speaker 15: Coolers okay bird, oh oh s.
- 19:34Speaker 2: S. Don don.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Stop work.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Work a little word.
- 20:10Speaker 16: No, no.
- 20:34Speaker 4: The don.
- 20:36Speaker 2: For the berber or for.
- 20:45Speaker 4: The word or.
- 20:53Speaker 2: No, don't over orner go there, don't, don't around the
- 21:02Speaker 2: door to go, don't don't got start after doll, don't
- 21:07Speaker 2: do don't.
- 21:08Speaker 16: Go right after bird?
- 21:13Speaker 4: No oh no, no, no no.
- 23:04Speaker 8: So there's been a lot of different recording processes and
- 23:07Speaker 8: stuff throughout Abramolin's career. You recorded with DW a couple
- 23:12Speaker 8: of times, you know, then you went on to Never
- 23:15Speaker 8: Enough and now you've got Sins of the Father coming out,
- 23:18Speaker 8: and you were talking about the differences in recording and
- 23:20Speaker 8: stuff like that. Tell us about how the recording process
- 23:26Speaker 8: for Death Battal from thirty years ago has progressed with
- 23:30Speaker 8: you through to now.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Matt.
- 23:32Speaker 9: Could you answer that.
- 23:34Speaker 12: Yeah, I'm still I mean things have changed obviously. I
- 23:38Speaker 12: guess I was always in the digital age, Like I
- 23:43Speaker 12: don't think I ever recorded anything to tape, certainly nothing
- 23:46Speaker 12: that could wound up being released. So yeah, the first
- 23:51Speaker 12: the first thing is I did, like I guess, in
- 23:54Speaker 12: a professional level, they were they were all on protals,
- 23:57Speaker 12: so it was it was always digital. I guess the
- 24:01Speaker 12: main things that have changed, like for me is and
- 24:06Speaker 12: perhaps like just recording bands in general, is things are
- 24:12Speaker 12: a lot more. There's a lot more that you can
- 24:15Speaker 12: do yourself these days. I mean, I'll always record for
- 24:20Speaker 12: a long time. I've recorded all my own guitars, and
- 24:23Speaker 12: I'll take them to a proper studio to just to
- 24:26Speaker 12: basically re anthem. So I'll do all the you know,
- 24:30Speaker 12: I'll play the same with twenty times until I get
- 24:32Speaker 12: it right, or I'll fucking throw the guitar out of
- 24:34Speaker 12: the window, or I'll do all the painful work at home.
- 24:38Speaker 12: That way, at least I'm not spending money sort of
- 24:41Speaker 12: sat in the studio trying to nail performances or whatever.
- 24:45Speaker 12: Or if I'm having a bad day and I can't,
- 24:47Speaker 12: I just can't play properly, then I can just stop
- 24:50Speaker 12: come back the next day.
- 24:52Speaker 4: So for me to.
- 24:53Speaker 12: Record, it's it's pretty easy, and it's it's a it's
- 24:59Speaker 12: a it's a really cost effective way because I can
- 25:01Speaker 12: do all my parts. I can take them all to
- 25:03Speaker 12: the studio someone that really knows what they're doing with
- 25:05Speaker 12: pulling sounds and making out amps and rooms and using
- 25:09Speaker 12: different equipment, and then they can, you know, they can
- 25:13Speaker 12: spend however much time it needs to get those sounds
- 25:17Speaker 12: and then just essentially press play and run the whole
- 25:20Speaker 12: thing back and that's you know, that's the same with
- 25:23Speaker 12: the bass. A lot of stuff can be done at
- 25:25Speaker 12: home to sort of save money, I guess, even sort
- 25:27Speaker 12: of pre production sort of stuff like click tracks and
- 25:31Speaker 12: guy guitars and things for you know, for things to
- 25:35Speaker 12: day to play drummers onto, Like he'll have all the
- 25:37Speaker 12: click tracks and all the tempos, everything sort of ready
- 25:40Speaker 12: to go before he goes to the studio, which I
- 25:44Speaker 12: think maybe quite a few years ago that might have
- 25:48Speaker 12: been a little bit different, and perhaps drummers weren't so
- 25:52Speaker 12: used to playing to click tracks and all that sort
- 25:55Speaker 12: of stuff. So I think it's just a matter of preparation,
- 25:58Speaker 12: Like the ability to be sort of well prepared is
- 26:03Speaker 12: a bit more available now. And I guess even with Simon,
- 26:09Speaker 12: like we with this album, we spent a fair bit
- 26:11Speaker 12: of time working together as opposed to rehearsing the songs
- 26:17Speaker 12: in the studio in a live band setting. We spent
- 26:20Speaker 12: a bit of time together. It's just messing around with
- 26:23Speaker 12: vocal arrangements like that's want to go next. You know,
- 26:27Speaker 12: I'm sure someone can speak a little bit more about
- 26:29Speaker 12: how different that has been from previous sort of previous
- 26:34Speaker 12: albums that he's done. But yeah, like you know, we
- 26:37Speaker 12: would just catch up once or twice a week and
- 26:40Speaker 12: just maybe roughly plan out the arrangement of a song,
- 26:43Speaker 12: and then he would go away fine tunit and then
- 26:47Speaker 12: just go to.
- 26:47Speaker 11: The studio without necessarily having.
- 26:51Speaker 12: Rehearsed as a full band.
- 26:53Speaker 8: Yeah right, Simon sane for you because your vocals are
- 26:57Speaker 8: very different. You know, You've got those beautiful like love
- 27:00Speaker 8: breathy bits, the extreme shrills, and those beautiful extreme.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Brutal parts.
- 27:08Speaker 11: Is it different for you?
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Look, I've I've definitely tried to make some adjustment
- 27:15Speaker 1: to my voices, my voice over the years, I mean,
- 27:18Speaker 1: back in you know, Transgression, and I suppose even on
- 27:21Speaker 1: the self titled too is a little more one dimensional,
- 27:24Speaker 1: whereas now I try and mix it up as much
- 27:27Speaker 1: as I can, and exactly like you said, with the
- 27:29Speaker 1: deep stuff, with the higher stuff, some rusty stuff in between,
- 27:31Speaker 1: and even some you know, borderline spoken word bits and
- 27:34Speaker 1: pieces too.
- 27:35Speaker 11: I do as a death metal vocalist.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Although I try and make it as heavy as I
- 27:41Speaker 1: possibly can, I do actually want people to understand what
- 27:43Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 27:45Speaker 11: Yeah, And you have a lot of people go with
- 27:48Speaker 11: death betal.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I can't understand it, and I'm like, well, I compare
- 27:52Speaker 1: like singing well with death metal vocals to like listening
- 27:55Speaker 1: to someone who speaks with a thick accent. You know,
- 27:57Speaker 1: once you get to hit around the sort of the accent, Okay,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I can actually understand what you're saying. Yeah, if they
- 28:03Speaker 1: look at the lyrics and then go actually, yeah, it's
- 28:05Speaker 1: really obvious what you're saying when they get their head
- 28:08Speaker 1: around it.
- 28:08Speaker 11: So there's a level of weight. You can go really deep.
- 28:11Speaker 11: And I do see of a vocalist not saying it's.
- 28:16Speaker 1: A bad thing or whatever, but doing like the mic
- 28:18Speaker 1: cupping to sort of like get that deeper sort of
- 28:21Speaker 1: like vocal sound, whereas I actually try and do it
- 28:23Speaker 1: odd school from like back here for me, it's like
- 28:25Speaker 1: what you conjure up and everything else here is like
- 28:27Speaker 1: then it's for me. For me, that's more real and
- 28:30Speaker 1: that's the way. But plus like old school as buck,
- 28:32Speaker 1: so that's not But getting back to like for the
- 28:36Speaker 1: question and what Matt was talking about. Yeah, like for
- 28:39Speaker 1: I think we might have done something similar for Never
- 28:43Speaker 1: Enough Stuff as well, but definitely for Sins of the Father.
- 28:47Speaker 11: The vocals wouldn't sound like they do it all if
- 28:49Speaker 11: it wasn't for Matt. Like Matt was just fucking awesome
- 28:53Speaker 11: like I had. He was like his song and I've
- 28:56Speaker 11: like written lyrics and I bring it in and He's
- 28:58Speaker 11: just like, no, mate, how about we chop out this?
- 29:01Speaker 14: This? This?
- 29:01Speaker 11: This okay? As long as the story, because like everything.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I do, when I write the lyrics, it has to
- 29:06Speaker 1: have like a bit of a story, and it's a
- 29:08Speaker 1: mini horror film or a minion horror whatever else. Ye
- 29:13Speaker 1: got to like flow and be it's its own little
- 29:16Speaker 1: little things. So as long as I can keep that
- 29:17Speaker 1: and like drop a few words here and there and
- 29:19Speaker 1: bring it together. But this time was very much me
- 29:23Speaker 1: and Matt bringing it together, and a little bit from
- 29:25Speaker 1: Market the studio as well, who recorded all the vocals,
- 29:28Speaker 1: and I'm Never Enough Stuff. We had Dave in the
- 29:30Speaker 1: mix as well too. But yeah, because I'm still very
- 29:34Speaker 1: attuned to what was happening in the nineties with Death
- 29:37Speaker 1: Matter really dragged myself into the modern age. I would
- 29:42Speaker 1: sing probably like I used to it, it would be
- 29:44Speaker 1: a little bit more one dimensional. So yeah, if it
- 29:47Speaker 1: wasn't up from that with the vocal arrangements, it has
- 29:51Speaker 1: made it a massive difference.
- 29:54Speaker 9: Look at you, Matt, like just playing with one of
- 29:56Speaker 9: the fucking gas that. Hey, we're talking about Never Enough Snuff.
- 30:02Speaker 9: Let's play a track from that, Matt. Do you want

- 30:13Speaker 12: I'm gonna pick it just because I guess the moon

- 35:02Speaker 11: Now, this is Matt and this is Simon.
- 35:07Speaker 1: We're from a Bremelain and you're listening to Heavy magazine
- 35:10Speaker 1: special of a Brelin.
- 35:12Speaker 9: We're back.
- 35:13Speaker 8: This is melv talking about Matt Simon from a Bramlin
- 35:17Speaker 8: like one of my favorite bands of all time.
- 35:19Speaker 9: On June twenty three, I've got it in front of me.
- 35:22Speaker 8: Lots of news in the in the Abramelain camp and
- 35:25Speaker 8: after the writing process, Tim Oldridge decided to step away. Simon, First,
- 35:31Speaker 8: to you, being collaborating with him for all those years,
- 35:35Speaker 8: how did you take that?
- 35:37Speaker 9: And is Tim okay?
- 35:39Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 35:39Speaker 1: To answer the second question, first, it's I'm not sure
- 35:43Speaker 1: how Tim is doing because we've sort of lost touch
- 35:45Speaker 1: with Tim okay and we had for a while there.
- 35:48Speaker 11: So without going into too much detail.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Like Matt wrote into the Father in Lockdown and then
- 35:55Speaker 1: basically said, look, I've written a new album while he
- 35:58Speaker 1: was sitting on his ass like we all were not
- 36:00Speaker 1: doing much, and Tim would you like to contribute some tracks?
- 36:03Speaker 1: And we waited and waited and waited and nothing was
- 36:06Speaker 1: really forthcoming. So it was like, okay, well we're going
- 36:09Speaker 1: to roll with Matt songs and one of Rob's as
- 36:11Speaker 1: well too, And then it.
- 36:13Speaker 11: Was like, right, well, here's the tracks.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Can we get you into the studio record And we
- 36:17Speaker 1: waited and waited and waited again, and he just once
- 36:19Speaker 1: again wouldn't come to the party and get to the studio,
- 36:22Speaker 1: which was pretty frustrating for us. So, I mean realistically,
- 36:25Speaker 1: since the father probably would have come out over a
- 36:27Speaker 1: year ago.
- 36:28Speaker 11: If they could have been able to pull everything together
- 36:31Speaker 11: at the time.
- 36:32Speaker 1: But of course it didn't happen, so unfortunately, Matt, well
- 36:36Speaker 1: not unfortunately Matt had to go back into the studio and.
- 36:38Speaker 11: Then back all those and after doing all the solos
- 36:43Speaker 11: and everything else too. But it's yeah, it is what
- 36:46Speaker 11: it is. Look, it was.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It was a shame to lose Tim, but he just yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 1: just just wouldn't come to the party. His heart was
- 36:52Speaker 1: and it was either we wait for him eternally or
- 36:57Speaker 1: we we just roll on without. I was able, like
- 37:00Speaker 1: we ever kept going without, and it was we were like, no,
- 37:03Speaker 1: fuck that, We're going to keep going.
- 37:05Speaker 8: So I just wanted to ask that question. It was
- 37:08Speaker 8: just a Tim is Tim Okay? You answered it, Swim.
- 37:11Speaker 8: If you want me to cut it out, I'm happy
- 37:12Speaker 8: to do that.
- 37:13Speaker 11: I mean, it's the truth. That's a story without getting
- 37:15Speaker 11: into too much nitty gritty what do you reckon?
- 37:17Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean I think it's cool. I mean it's
- 37:20Speaker 12: It was pretty frustrating because me and David done basically recorded.
- 37:25Speaker 12: David recorded the drums such a long time ago and
- 37:29Speaker 12: recorded one guitar, like the left guitar, so to speak
- 37:33Speaker 12: again a long time.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Ago, and.
- 37:37Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean I felt I felt a bit weird.
- 37:41Speaker 12: I did feel a bit weird sort of doing the
- 37:45Speaker 12: other guitar and doing the solos because I mean, you know,
- 37:49Speaker 12: like like fucking Tim's playing is like I said earlier,
- 37:54Speaker 12: it's it's what sort of brought.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Me to where I am now.
- 37:57Speaker 12: You know, that's where I learned to play sort of
- 37:59Speaker 12: extreme metal, you know, when I was like a fucking teenager.
- 38:02Speaker 12: So yeah, well I can probably speak confidently saying that
- 38:07Speaker 12: both me and Dave were a little bit hesitant to
- 38:10Speaker 12: sort of to carry on. But you know, Simon Rob
- 38:16Speaker 12: said to us both, like you've written an album, has
- 38:19Speaker 12: done this, like let's let's do it.
- 38:22Speaker 4: And the more the more I.
- 38:23Speaker 12: Thought about it, the more appropriate it seemed to just
- 38:26Speaker 12: carry on and you know we've we've done a good album.
- 38:29Speaker 12: And it's yeah, personally speaking, it's you know, like it's
- 38:34Speaker 12: a real shame that Tim couldn't sort of get himself involved,
- 38:40Speaker 12: but because it is what it is now, So there
- 38:43Speaker 12: you go.
- 38:44Speaker 11: Thank you guys.
- 38:45Speaker 9: I really appreciate that open and openness and honesty. What
- 38:49Speaker 9: Simon you.
- 38:50Speaker 8: Pick a track from any of your back catalog and
- 38:54Speaker 8: tell us why you've picked it, and then we'll come back.
- 38:57Speaker 9: And talk about your new album.
- 39:00Speaker 12: Pickle instead. He's obviously not all right.
- 39:01Speaker 11: Yeah, I can't think of what off the top of
- 39:03Speaker 11: my head.
- 39:04Speaker 12: The second of those star Guyser.
- 39:06Speaker 11: Songs guysing, Yeah, yeah, you can play by it if
- 39:12Speaker 11: you want to, fucking this guy, Star guysing stars, Okay, cool.
- 39:26Speaker 4: By the guys go.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Uh ball of birds or bolder or door b b
- 40:33Speaker 5: a ba bir.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Do doder doll doll bur Yeah like a y doll
- 40:38Speaker 4: by doll.
- 40:48Speaker 5: Ball girl says a ball beer all tup a doctor
- 40:51Speaker 5: doll sce older, don't try.
- 40:54Speaker 6: About all right, no fash guy ball for full Sada,
- 41:12Speaker 6: I died full source of bulls that.
- 41:58Speaker 10: So or so over.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Right, not go under.
- 42:15Speaker 6: Or sortal over so go Bert, Yeah, I got dark guy.
- 42:28Speaker 14: Uh, that's I got for door.
- 42:38Speaker 4: H that's that's I got.
- 42:40Speaker 6: Go for.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Hot water.
- 43:18Speaker 9: All right, heavy mag Talking to Simon and Matt from
- 43:21Speaker 9: a Bramlin.
- 43:22Speaker 8: The last two kind of conceptual pieces of never Enough
- 43:26Speaker 8: Snuff and continuing on to Sins of the Father. Now
- 43:30Speaker 8: pretty graphic, but a lot of thought and love has
- 43:32Speaker 8: been put into it, Simon obviously courtesy of you. Tell
- 43:35Speaker 8: us about the artistic process creating like the cadavers and
- 43:40Speaker 8: the blood and the gore, and how much fun was
- 43:43Speaker 8: it and how much of a voice does it have
- 43:47Speaker 8: to what you created?
- 43:48Speaker 1: For me, it's become seems never enough snuff and having
- 43:50Speaker 1: the opportunity to do what I did.
- 43:54Speaker 11: So when when we came back from our break.
- 43:58Speaker 1: That we had from two thousand and two twenty fourteen,
- 44:02Speaker 1: we were in the studio and as well as going
- 44:04Speaker 1: over the old stuff, Tim's like, I've got a new
- 44:06Speaker 1: song and that new song was never for enough Snuff,
- 44:09Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, well, the guys are learning a
- 44:11Speaker 1: new song.
- 44:12Speaker 11: Like what the fuck am I going to do here?
- 44:13Speaker 1: I'm like a bit of a fifth wheel literally, so
- 44:15Speaker 1: I'm just going to sit down and smash out some
- 44:17Speaker 1: lyrics and never enough stuff. That was the first song
- 44:19Speaker 1: that I wrote, and I just wrote it in one go.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I just sat there and went bang bang bang bang
- 44:23Speaker 1: bang bang bang. I just recently read a book called
- 44:26Speaker 1: Survivor by J. F. Gonzales, which is it's about snuff
- 44:29Speaker 1: films pressure of my mind. So I thought, great, I'll
- 44:32Speaker 1: write a snuff sting, and at that moment I thought,
- 44:36Speaker 1: if we ever do an album, I'm.
- 44:37Speaker 11: Going to recreate a snuff film as the cover.
- 44:42Speaker 12: So I went to.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I went to my friend Lee, who does special effects
- 44:48Speaker 1: make up and film and television, and said, here's what
- 44:52Speaker 1: I want to do. So yeah, we went over to
- 44:54Speaker 1: their place, set up in their garage, got about Tim
- 44:57Speaker 1: on board with his partner Michelle to be the victim,
- 45:00Speaker 1: and yeah, another friend of mine, Mardy, who as a photographer.
- 45:03Speaker 11: And just went ahead and Never Enough Snuff moving on
- 45:06Speaker 11: to Sins of the Father a lot more complicated.
- 45:09Speaker 1: So we had eight people including myself in the crew
- 45:13Speaker 1: to create the cover art for Never Enough Stuff.
- 45:16Speaker 4: So there was.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Firstly, we went down to see a guy called Larry
- 45:21Speaker 1: who works at Scarecrew Studios and have a look at
- 45:23Speaker 1: what he had available. So he's just like, we'll knock
- 45:26Speaker 1: himself out whatever you want in there. There was like corpses, limbs, vetuses,
- 45:32Speaker 1: fucking whatever. So I went down there with Lee and
- 45:35Speaker 1: the photographer Pauli, and then like we just you know,
- 45:37Speaker 1: went down had to look at all the stuff, went
- 45:39Speaker 1: out for lunch that day and said, well, what do
- 45:41Speaker 1: you reckon?
- 45:41Speaker 11: There was that prosthetic that.
- 45:43Speaker 1: We've got on the cover of the priest with his
- 45:46Speaker 1: like you know, the ribs that you can see inside
- 45:47Speaker 1: his guts and everything else too, and I want to
- 45:50Speaker 1: use that. How could we use that in something? And
- 45:52Speaker 1: I'm like, I want that with hands inside or whatever
- 45:56Speaker 1: else too, And we came up with the concept of
- 45:58Speaker 1: using a priest that we were going to fuck up.
- 46:02Speaker 1: And then yeah, I mentioned to my daughter, as hell,
- 46:06Speaker 1: woud you like to be on the album cover and
- 46:08Speaker 1: she was like yeah, And then she was like yeah
- 46:11Speaker 1: nah because she had her youth plub fans on. But
- 46:15Speaker 1: it was all the delays with the recording and everything,
- 46:17Speaker 1: we actually got to push the whole thing back, So
- 46:19Speaker 1: then she was back on board. Another friend of mine, Martin,
- 46:21Speaker 1: who's also where else, to work as a priest, and
- 46:25Speaker 1: then his wife is second photographer Lee again to do
- 46:29Speaker 1: all the makeup, and then of course none other than
- 46:34Speaker 1: the lovely missus Sally, who's done all of our albums
- 46:37Speaker 1: since the self titled, to get back on board again
- 46:40Speaker 1: to do all the after effects. And she fucking worked tirelessly,
- 46:45Speaker 1: put in so many hours. Like it's like the original
- 46:48Speaker 1: shots were good, but what sal did with.
- 46:50Speaker 8: It was just like wow, right, okay, we talked about
- 46:54Speaker 8: never enough Snuff. Yeah, let's play that because that was
- 46:58Speaker 8: the first song you wrote that. You said, reply that
- 47:00Speaker 8: and then we'll come back. I want to talk about
- 47:02Speaker 8: the concept two sins of the father.
- 47:27Speaker 4: For soldier, doors for Palmer sal joel ster.
- 47:31Speaker 6: We tall those dons adlgos all for wall or burners
- 47:36Speaker 6: call gloss and little dog besur s or SoRs or

- 47:59Speaker 18: Or don't down stone dim down stone stone die stoe down.
- 48:50Speaker 2: She don't figure before yong posa serdar or.
- 49:03Speaker 5: Soldiers horse four bars.
- 49:06Speaker 2: No car robos t car sold so yt r out
- 49:11Speaker 2: sold story dorst.
- 49:12Speaker 4: A hies and whys I saw your.
- 49:16Speaker 6: Sort cards at your stish a car star call pard

- 49:48Speaker 4: Bro h.
- 50:52Speaker 5: Parsolsold you were tall cost.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Four alphants possor hut where my show.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Dot com.
- 51:29Speaker 11: This is Matt and this is Simon.
- 51:31Speaker 1: We're from a Bremlain and you're listening to Heavy magazine
- 51:33Speaker 1: special of a Breblin.
- 51:36Speaker 9: Simon.
- 51:37Speaker 8: You mentioned and that you also mentioned about having pretty
- 51:43Speaker 8: much the album written, and Simon you were talking about
- 51:45Speaker 8: writing never enough snuff in one hit that I know
- 51:49Speaker 8: what your work schedule is and you smash out, you know,
- 51:52Speaker 8: thirty songs a day. Did you actually have Since of
- 51:55Speaker 8: the Father written out? And then Simon you came in
- 51:57Speaker 8: with the concept music or yeah, yeah, both musically and lyrically.
- 52:03Speaker 12: So so musically it's all pretty straightforward as far as
- 52:07Speaker 12: I'm concerned. I think I don't know where it came from,
- 52:11Speaker 12: but I had an idea I was right right do
- 52:15Speaker 12: another album. So over the course of a month or so,
- 52:19Speaker 12: I basically just wrote an album's worth of material and yeah,
- 52:24Speaker 12: that was it. That my part was done.
- 52:27Speaker 9: That doesn't sound like you at all, mate, Musically, it's just.
- 52:31Speaker 12: The usual affair for me. Just get it done, write
- 52:33Speaker 12: album done and move on. So yeah, my part was easy.
- 52:37Speaker 8: And Simon, so from there, Mad had obviously written the
- 52:40Speaker 8: album and you talked that there was a theme to
- 52:43Speaker 8: Sins of the Father.
- 52:45Speaker 9: What made you think of a theme and not just
- 52:47Speaker 9: songs on their.
- 52:47Speaker 11: Own, Well, it's well yes and no.
- 52:50Speaker 1: I mean that the tracks into the Father links to
- 52:52Speaker 1: the album cover and what that's all about, which is
- 52:55Speaker 1: about a killer priest who like you know, kids and
- 53:01Speaker 1: mutilates them and then offers their flesh to his dark
- 53:04Speaker 1: gods because he's not really your average priest. But then
- 53:06Speaker 1: the concept of the cover is then that's sort of
- 53:09Speaker 1: like how all the demonic forces whatever you want to
- 53:12Speaker 1: call it, that's him getting his come up and so
- 53:14Speaker 1: them coming up and.
- 53:15Speaker 11: Then you know, getting fucked in the heart with a
- 53:17Speaker 11: crucifix as you do.
- 53:19Speaker 9: So oh man, I love you. That's fucking yeah.
- 53:24Speaker 11: So yeah, that that that was what we came up
- 53:27Speaker 11: with conceptually to do.
- 53:29Speaker 1: And then the same thing that we did, like with
- 53:30Speaker 1: never Enough Snuff, I thought, well, we can't really have
- 53:33Speaker 1: on the cover because I thought, let's come up with
- 53:35Speaker 1: a secondary cover, and that's the one that put the
- 53:38Speaker 1: one of my daughter playing.
- 53:39Speaker 11: With the inside of the neck of the seven hand.
- 53:42Speaker 1: That's that's what the cover that would be appearing on
- 53:45Speaker 1: the outside and would also go for like any digitals
- 53:48Speaker 1: and whatever else to do, and would also appear on
- 53:51Speaker 1: the majority of the merchandise as well.
- 53:53Speaker 8: Can I just ask is your daughter like daughter like that?
- 53:56Speaker 8: She she loves horror, loveschool, loves that just a part
- 54:00Speaker 8: of it. Because Dad asked her too, option.
- 54:04Speaker 11: Bright definitely not yeah, a little bit.
- 54:09Speaker 1: It's just yeah, no, no, that dad with no filter
- 54:13Speaker 1: like saturated the kids with horror films when they were young, traumanized.
- 54:22Speaker 9: Now I know you've got two tracks or you've got
- 54:25Speaker 9: sorry one track.
- 54:26Speaker 8: Released, which is kind of flag Duration of the Dreamers,
- 54:29Speaker 8: Sins of the Father is coming out.
- 54:31Speaker 4: Have got that right?
- 54:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's that one where that one is due
- 54:34Speaker 1: from release on the thirteenth of September. Yeah, depending on
- 54:37Speaker 1: when this rolls, you can most definitely play that, Okay.
- 54:40Speaker 11: I mean as it gets closer to the street day
- 54:43Speaker 11: as well too, Like I'm.
- 54:44Speaker 9: Going to ask that question, So let's let's play the
- 54:48Speaker 9: first single.
- 54:49Speaker 8: The cover is coming out on the twenty six, so
- 54:51Speaker 8: I think we're going to be okay for playing Sins
- 54:54Speaker 8: of the Father.
- 54:55Speaker 9: Obviously there's a theme to the album, but is there
- 54:57Speaker 9: a theme to those songs?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Well, yeah, well I'll just a lyrically Conflagation of the
- 55:05Speaker 1: Dreamers is a is like part two of Flash Furnace,
- 55:09Speaker 1: So it's like a follow up of what that young
- 55:12Speaker 1: boy who sets the Sleeping on fire, which is the
- 55:16Speaker 1: whole thing in the title.
- 55:17Speaker 11: That's that's what it's all about. So that's part two
- 55:20Speaker 11: of flash Furnace from Dead Speak.
- 55:22Speaker 1: And then there is another track on the album called
- 55:27Speaker 1: Deceased to State, which is sort of like a follow
- 55:28Speaker 1: up to humbler Bode, not musically but but lyrically. So
- 55:34Speaker 1: stuck at a bomb point with lyrics. And I was
- 55:36Speaker 1: like writing stuff, and I always like to try and
- 55:38Speaker 1: come up with something fresh, you know, like rather just
- 55:41Speaker 1: regurgitating the same ship, like have a different theme, have
- 55:44Speaker 1: a different story each time, so it's not all the
- 55:46Speaker 1: same same And and I was a little bit stuck.
- 55:49Speaker 11: And I was talking to a friend of a good
- 55:51Speaker 11: friend of mine, Steve, and it's just like, well, what
- 55:52Speaker 11: do you do some like you know, follow ups? He's like, well,

- 1:04:29Speaker 5: Odysse coll sorry.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: Bock sold to sis.
- 1:04:43Speaker 9: We're writing for Matt Simon.
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: You mentioned before about Abramlin twenty fourteen, but yet we
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: didn't see you until twenty seventeen at the medal for
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: Melbourne Show.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Is that when you it was two thousand and two,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: two thousand and sixty, which is fourteen years. We got
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: together at the back end of twenty sixteen to rehearse
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: to get ready for that show in January of twenty seventeen.
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: Yeah, right, so had you basically said no more of
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: Bremlin and then Rob came and spoke to you, like,
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: how was the reformation? Was it just going to be
- 1:05:16Speaker 8: for that Metal for Melbourne show, you know, like you know,
- 1:05:19Speaker 8: blast of the past kind of thing.
- 1:05:22Speaker 11: I think originally, yes, that was is how it was
- 1:05:26Speaker 11: going to be.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: But once we got into the studio and because the
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Metal for meltourn thing, of course was a was a
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: benefit gig to feed the homeless and whatnot.
- 1:05:36Speaker 11: So charity show, no coin, and we thought, well and
- 1:05:39Speaker 11: I looked totally.
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: Good with that.
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: That's actually what got me out of retirement.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: It was like good enough, you know, and we thought, well,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: look we've got a set, why not take this on
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: the road and yeah, actually start performing again, and we
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: did and it was super well received. So yeah, and
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: then at that point after we you know, done a
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I think we've done like the first show or two,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: and then it was like the new material started coming
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: through and then of course the you know, which was
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: the first stages of never Enough stuff.
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: Yeah, it was it easy to kind of slop back
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: into Simon of old or Simon of New.
- 1:06:20Speaker 12: No, it wasn't.
- 1:06:22Speaker 11: Actually I.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Tend to a few people like you know how like
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: that's you know, the body regenerates like muscles and whatever
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: else to every seven years. It had been fourteen years,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: so muscle memory is one thing. But like with my throat,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: like it's tissue, so it's it's basically twice regenerated itself
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: over the course of fourteen years. I didn't know if
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I could still sing jat metal, and I reckon, this
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: is gonna hurt, hurt a lot.
- 1:06:53Speaker 11: To try and do what I was doing, but it was, Yeah, it.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Came back pretty good, and I was pretty tough with
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: that and surprisingly not a lot of different.
- 1:07:03Speaker 11: I think. I say, if I listened to my voice
- 1:07:05Speaker 11: on Dead Speak and then listen to you know what
- 1:07:07Speaker 11: I was doing then on on Snuff.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Or even what I'm doing now and Sins of the Father,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: and it's sort of yeah, I mean to my ears,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: it sounds like like me still agreed, So.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Agree, And.
- 1:07:21Speaker 9: Can I say this with no disrespect, it's a better
- 1:07:24Speaker 9: version of you now.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: I think. Mainly I think that's true.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Like I said earlier on Too, like I love what
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I do with my voice now compared to you know,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: back in the in the early days of what we
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: were doing, when we were sort of like just you know,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: finding ourselves from I suppose, from the Deprived of Afterlife
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: seven inch to the Transgression and then even into the
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: self title, whereas I feel it was just a little
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: more right, Let's sing as heavy as you can, you know,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: because that's a lot of the ship that I was
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: listening to, Whereas now that's that's.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: Not the game.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: The game is, as I said, as heavy as you can.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: But have people understand what you're saying. I spent a
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: lot of time writing my lyrics and me you know,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: they're disgusting, and I want people to do that.
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: I remember, I remember, I remember being at your house
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: for the first time after the show in Giolong, and
- 1:08:14Speaker 8: you came back and you wanted me to watch a
- 1:08:16Speaker 8: necromantic and I'm like.
- 1:08:17Speaker 11: No, I can't, I can't. I just can't.
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: And I've seen it unirous times since, but I'm like,
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: too much. Of course, you know, it was metal as fuck,
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: but there are some of us that couldn't.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: Then.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I look, there was a lot of people that couldn't
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: be the amount of people over the years that I
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: subjected to watching just horrible.
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: And that was just like me.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: It was all fun and games to like test people's
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: boundaries and touch the But.
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: There were a couple of tracks from from Dead Spoke Good,
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: I Love Pleasures, Your Casualty, Waste you're talking about Fresh Furnace,
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: which I've played earlier.
- 1:08:52Speaker 9: What would you pick from Dead Speak and why?
- 1:08:55Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: I was always a big fan of Your Casualty, which
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: we actually still I think that's the one track that
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: we play live at the moment, from Dead Speak, which
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: we tried to like pick at least a couple, you know,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: one or two tracks for each album.
- 1:09:07Speaker 11: I'm also like, I think the most unusual not a
- 1:09:10Speaker 11: Bremlin track on that album was played the last.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Track, which I was always you know, and I think
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: that was the first track that I sort of started
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: experimenting vocally a little bit more so.
- 1:09:21Speaker 11: Let's climb both the mate sure.
- 1:09:54Speaker 14: One all of.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: But it don't go stort go bolsovers, I call gotta

- 1:13:47Speaker 21: you'll find in my life a lots of lies.

- 1:22:42Speaker 8: talking about Humble Abode and human Alaty and looking forward
- 1:22:46Speaker 8: to playing them. What's your favorite track to play, Matt
- 1:22:48Speaker 8: and why.
- 1:22:50Speaker 12: Grave ideals it's because there's a there's a because it's
- 1:22:53Speaker 12: just blasts the whole time, and there's a there's a
- 1:22:55Speaker 12: there's a mid section where the guitars and drums go
- 1:23:00Speaker 12: do it to the share. So that's that's that's my sad.

- 1:27:19Speaker 9: can people look forward to with the upcoming album?
- 1:27:22Speaker 8: Since the Father the two are coming up, You've got
- 1:27:24Speaker 8: you've just got the support for Pestils coming up.
- 1:27:26Speaker 11: What are you looking forward to?
- 1:27:28Speaker 12: What are we looking forward to or what can people
- 1:27:30Speaker 12: look forward to?
- 1:27:31Speaker 9: Both?
- 1:27:32Speaker 12: I think the album is like the albums, it's pretty savage.
- 1:27:36Speaker 12: It's it turned out. It probably turned out better than
- 1:27:39Speaker 12: I think any of us maybe imagine that it would.
- 1:27:43Speaker 9: In what in what in?
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: What aspects Matt coming from the Rights Records and is
- 1:27:49Speaker 8: passionate about their art?
- 1:27:51Speaker 9: What makes you say that?
- 1:27:53Speaker 12: For me, it's all going well to sort of just
- 1:27:56Speaker 12: sit down and write, you know, maybe an album's worth
- 1:27:59Speaker 12: a material. But when the you know, the magic happens
- 1:28:03Speaker 12: when all the parts come together, like when you hear
- 1:28:06Speaker 12: it with the drums and go ah, fucking amazing, you know,
- 1:28:10Speaker 12: and then when the vocals happen, when the whole thing,
- 1:28:13Speaker 12: when it all comes together, when the mix sort of
- 1:28:16Speaker 12: hats to take shape, and it's like, wow, this is
- 1:28:18Speaker 12: this has kind of turned into something pretty special. I
- 1:28:21Speaker 12: think for me, like it really happened with this one.
- 1:28:24Speaker 12: It's yeah, it's it's got some pretty special moments in it.
- 1:28:29Speaker 12: And I think I could probably safely speak for all
- 1:28:32Speaker 12: of us by saying that it's, yeah, it turned out
- 1:28:36Speaker 12: really well. I hope that people are pretty you know,
- 1:28:40Speaker 12: pretty sort of blown away by how crushingly heavy it is,
- 1:28:46Speaker 12: and you know, just the performances as well. I also
- 1:28:49Speaker 12: can't wait to sort of, you know, we're just we're
- 1:28:52Speaker 12: including an extra song in an upcoming set that we're playing.
- 1:28:55Speaker 12: So I've just been going through another song today, just
- 1:28:58Speaker 12: sort of learning it and getting it up to up
- 1:28:59Speaker 12: to speed. I can't wait to play some of the songs,
- 1:29:02Speaker 12: a few more of the songs live. We've already done
- 1:29:04Speaker 12: a couple, but yeah, I'm looking forward to playing the shows,
- 1:29:07Speaker 12: doing a bit more off the new album.
- 1:29:10Speaker 11: Simon Hmmm.
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: As the founder and one of the godfathers of death
- 1:29:16Speaker 9: metal in this country and around the world, hearing.
- 1:29:21Speaker 8: That from Matt and someone who's you know, followed you
- 1:29:24Speaker 8: from day one, how does that make you feel and
- 1:29:27Speaker 8: how does that excite you to bring this album to
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: the world.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Doing the self title all those years ago was like
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: super exciting for me because that was like you knowing
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: it being album. But since that it's it's definitely this
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: Like I'm locking so pumped at his album.
- 1:29:47Speaker 11: It's an interesting one. Like you know, bands that have been.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Around a while and then you're like, you know, play
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: your old ship, but then the bands just want to
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: play their new ship. Well, I'm in that one of
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: that situation now where I just want to play the
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: new Ship because the new Ship awesome. When you said
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: the whole album I.
- 1:30:06Speaker 8: Have, yeah, sorry, it's rough that there are five Werewolves albums, right,
- 1:30:11Speaker 8: there's now five a Bramlin.
- 1:30:14Speaker 11: Album, so four I'm including their right, Yeah, yeah, cool.
- 1:30:19Speaker 8: But when you told when I saw your carcass and
- 1:30:22Speaker 8: you were sitting down and you're like, oh man, I've
- 1:30:24Speaker 8: got some good news.
- 1:30:25Speaker 9: I've got new a Bramlain for you.
- 1:30:27Speaker 8: I fucking lost my mind, dude, Like never enough stuff
- 1:30:31Speaker 8: was fucking ace and now we've got Sins of the Father.
- 1:30:34Speaker 9: You're fucking joking.
- 1:30:35Speaker 8: And when you were saying, I feel like I've been
- 1:30:36Speaker 8: when you said to me yesterday, I feel like I've
- 1:30:38Speaker 8: been talking to you forever about your Bramlain, like.
- 1:30:42Speaker 9: I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, and
- 1:30:43Speaker 9: when I did, oh my god, it's just magic. Right.
- 1:30:47Speaker 11: Yeah, I think I think it's with this one too.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: This is probably the first time that we've had international
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: backing as well, which I hope is going to make
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: a big difference to, you know, to getting getting the
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: name out there. I mean a lot of people know
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: it's internationally from you. Yeah, I think I think with
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: having having ham My Heart on on board this time
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: too and really championing the album in Europe and US
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: through Napalm is going to make a big difference for us.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: There's already I did an interview earlier on for for
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: a Megan in Italy just before actually doing this interview.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: And I've got like some more more stuff coming up
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: as well too for internationals. So and that's the first
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: time I've really done international press. So a lot of
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: people might know of us, but I don't think they've
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: really had the opportunity to sort of like hear a
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: little bit more about us, and you know how long
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: we've been around for and what we're doing and everything
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: else too.
- 1:31:40Speaker 8: I got to look at like doing like Brutal of Soul,
- 1:31:43Speaker 8: you know, Vakan you know death first, all that kind
- 1:31:47Speaker 8: of stuff.
- 1:31:48Speaker 12: Is that on the cog.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, look how my heart have been you know. I
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: have said to us, look, you know, can we can
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: we get you to talk to our booking agents and
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: if we can organize something twenty twenty five. It's it's
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: something that I'd never I thought we would never do.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Like for me, it's always been hobby banned, and I
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: just want to I'm not really taking overseas, but now
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: that we're as I said, we've got to put the
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: back in the Hamahart and you know, let's see what
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: sort of interest into the Father gets internationally and if
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: there's call for it then and you know, I mean
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: you've also got like, you know, five guys to organize too,
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: and like you know, days bad and then I'm at
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: the other end of my kids are like just finishing school.
- 1:32:29Speaker 23: Yeah, there's there's a lot of things to coordinate whatever
- 1:32:32Speaker 23: else too. But I think, like you know, doing doing
- 1:32:35Speaker 23: two or three weeks Europe is feasible. So yeah, yeah,
- 1:32:40Speaker 23: we'll see what comes.
- 1:32:41Speaker 9: Matt, You're excited.
- 1:32:42Speaker 12: Yeah, I'm excited. Man, it takes a lot for me
- 1:32:45Speaker 12: to get excited these days. Three story that. Yeah, I'm
- 1:32:49Speaker 12: excited about the release. I'm excited to start playing. And
- 1:32:53Speaker 12: I'm totally sort of in the same sort of camp
- 1:32:57Speaker 12: of you know, like we ain't fucking children, so it's
- 1:33:02Speaker 12: not easy to everyone to upsticks.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: And go and do this or that.
- 1:33:07Speaker 12: But at the same time, you know, with a bit
- 1:33:10Speaker 12: of planning and a bit of forethought and a little
- 1:33:12Speaker 12: bit of luck, you know, we can, we could do
- 1:33:14Speaker 12: something or other. So you know, I'm excited about the
- 1:33:17Speaker 12: prospect of maybe going to do something other in Europe,
- 1:33:20Speaker 12: or at least maybe before that, maybe just taking the
- 1:33:24Speaker 12: next step. You know, like the band's done a bunch
- 1:33:27Speaker 12: of sort of Aussie stuff, whatever that next step may be.
- 1:33:33Speaker 12: You know, like just it's just giant just maybe steps,
- 1:33:36Speaker 12: one thing.
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: At a time.
- 1:33:37Speaker 12: You know, we've seed it in making an album, so
- 1:33:40Speaker 12: let's just do the next little step and see what happened.
- 1:33:43Speaker 11: You know what else is exciting that we haven't spoken
- 1:33:45Speaker 11: about yet? Go on, Joe.
- 1:33:49Speaker 9: Oh yeah, Joe, Yeah, I was I was getting I
- 1:33:53Speaker 9: was getting to the guitarist.
- 1:33:55Speaker 11: Yeah, do you want to talk about that and how
- 1:33:58Speaker 11: exciting that is for us?
- 1:34:00Speaker 12: When we were doing the album, obviously, with everything that
- 1:34:06Speaker 12: was happening, we talked about, you know, what we're going
- 1:34:11Speaker 12: to do in the future, and in terms of playing
- 1:34:15Speaker 12: the songs playing live, you know, was it going to
- 1:34:17Speaker 12: be one guitar or two guitar? How is it going
- 1:34:19Speaker 12: to work? Obviously the immediate connection is is Joe through
- 1:34:26Speaker 12: a Dave And you know, I've had enough dealings with
- 1:34:30Speaker 12: Joe mixing albums and doing stuff over the years that
- 1:34:33Speaker 12: it's like, yeah, cool, totally. I kind of didn't want
- 1:34:36Speaker 12: him to play on the album because if anything, like,
- 1:34:44Speaker 12: the whole situation was so sort of it was such
- 1:34:47Speaker 12: a tricky, sort of weird situation that it's like, you
- 1:34:50Speaker 12: know what, I think, if we're going to go forward,
- 1:34:52Speaker 12: the best thing to happen is for me to just
- 1:34:54Speaker 12: play the guitars. But obviously for live then we need
- 1:34:58Speaker 12: someone else. So yeah, we've got Joe and he was
- 1:35:03Speaker 12: called to do it, and he's obviously a very good guitarist.
- 1:35:06Speaker 12: So it fucking keeps me on my toes a little bit.
- 1:35:09Speaker 12: I've got to up my game to try and fucking
- 1:35:11Speaker 12: keep up with him.
- 1:35:13Speaker 24: But it's good because he's learned all the songs and
- 1:35:15Speaker 24: he can play it easily, and you're jelling quite well.
- 1:35:18Speaker 24: We've done a couple of shows and it's it's been good.
- 1:35:21Speaker 24: So yeah, very positive, Simon.
- 1:35:24Speaker 9: It's it's a pleasure to have known you for this long.
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: It really really is.
- 1:35:29Speaker 25: I Like I said, even though we don't hang out,
- 1:35:32Speaker 25: I consider you a very dear friend of mine and
- 1:35:34Speaker 25: an influence on my on my my metal journey, the
- 1:35:39Speaker 25: same as you, Matt. You've introduced me to a lot
- 1:35:41Speaker 25: in the last seven years that I've known you, So
- 1:35:44Speaker 25: I thank you. It's a pleasure to know you and
- 1:35:46Speaker 25: a pleasure to listen to you, both both personally and sonically.
- 1:35:53Speaker 25: I want one of you each to pick a song
- 1:35:56Speaker 25: that we haven't played yet, either from Sin to the Father,
- 1:36:00Speaker 25: Enough Dead, speak Transgression, whatever it is, and tell us
- 1:36:04Speaker 25: what and we'll close out.
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:36:06Speaker 12: Nice. As far as songs if we're off the new album,
- 1:36:11Speaker 12: I don't even know the names of the songs.
- 1:36:13Speaker 9: Do you want me to write him out to you?
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: Well, then Matt's got his what he called them originally,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: and then when by the time I applied lyrics and
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: they've got their actual names.
- 1:36:24Speaker 11: He knows them as like Chainsaw Dead.
- 1:36:30Speaker 8: From since we've played Conflagration to Cease the State, Since
- 1:36:34Speaker 8: of the Father, we've got gloriole Man's best Friend, last Rite,
- 1:36:38Speaker 8: Shall of a Man, Meet the Mate street Art you
- 1:36:41Speaker 8: bleed I feet.
- 1:36:42Speaker 12: All right, I'm going to go with the Gory Hole
- 1:36:45Speaker 12: because yeah, it's got a good name as well.
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: Ye.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Well, and that's that's going to be the next track
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: that we're playing live as well too, So it actually
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: works pretty well that Glory would the next sort of
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: track to play outside of the bus and simon, what
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: would you pick without going to the gory hall as well,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: because it's hilarious exactly what you think it's going to
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: be about.
- 1:37:08Speaker 11: I'm gonna go go with Bob song to go with
- 1:37:11Speaker 11: last night.
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: Thank you so much for your time, like getting beers
- 1:37:15Speaker 9: hanging out you.
- 1:37:16Speaker 8: Blake's made a lot to me and that's why I
- 1:37:18Speaker 8: wanted to make this one special for you for the
- 1:37:20Speaker 8: new album since the father, I really wish you all
- 1:37:23Speaker 8: the best and stay brutal cunts.
