- 0:35And welcome back. This is episode 14.
- 0:39Take two, however, Mike wasn't with us Sunday, but he is back
- 0:47with us. Josh will be coming in a little
- 0:50bit late but we have mr. James again with us today, nice
- 0:54to have you back and of course, Bill and myself, Mike.
- 0:58I know it's been a rough weekend and a couple days for you, but
- 1:03how are you otherwise? Today I'm tired and a little bit
- 1:08sore, but yeah, we'll just go with that.
- 1:12Otherwise, I took bills, beverage suggestion and I'm
- 1:17working on one right now. So I am putting it on as a
- 1:23completely sober evening again. So this time without the
- 1:27technical difficulties, Beholder.
- 1:32Those at I do apologize to the listeners who were like, hey,
- 1:36I'm going to listen to this and then I get messages going.
- 1:40I get past the intro, and there's no sound.
- 1:42And I'm like, oh no. So Josh called me out on the
- 1:46route yesterday and let me know. So I went ahead and when I had
- 1:50him over it and was pulled over, I unpublished the episode.
- 1:56But yeah, we had a little bit technical difficulty, we had an
- 1:59awesome to hour and 15 episode hour and a half of sewed that
- 2:03unfortunately did not have. A single thing recorded.
- 2:09So, here we are take two, and I'm going to introduce James yet
- 2:13again. So, hi James, how are you?
- 2:17Oh, it's a beautiful night tonight?
- 2:19Yes, yesterday was crazy in the office with the volume that we
- 2:23had missed the day. It was like nothing.
- 2:26So I'm on a good day today. Yeah how's it going?
- 2:31Dear. It comes.
- 2:34It goes, he comes, he goes it's the same shit seen characters
- 2:40different day. Just, you know, one of those
- 2:43things where I get up in the morning, I pronounce some
- 2:46contractual language and they go in and piss off management, so
- 2:50it's all good. I live for it.
- 2:53I know you do. So anyways, what we had started
- 2:57to record and due on Sunday is obviously the The big
- 3:03announcement on the whole. Rex Fiasco yet.
- 3:07Again that came out Saturday. I am going to pull that up and
- 3:13we'll kind of go over it again. For those that don't know.
- 3:17But if you're on any type of social media, I am pretty sure
- 3:22you are. Well aware of what's going on.
- 3:27Yeah, this this will be interesting to say the least.
- 3:34Yes, here we go again. So this is what we're looking at
- 3:41for luminary route, classification changes.
- 3:47auxiliary routes current wrote seven thousand two hundred and
- 3:51seventy with the implementation of wrecks, with a go to seven
- 3:58thousand three hundred and one that's a chain engine edition of
- 4:0231 auxiliary routes H routes 3427 jumping to 13,000 142.
- 4:17Gaining 9000 715th routes. Jay ropes, 5012, jumping to
- 4:2911,000 429 for additional 6417. And here's the really sad, 1K
- 4:41Route. 60, 5910 dropping to 49,000 747.
- 4:51That is the loss of 1163 K routes.
- 5:01That's a grand. Total of 80 1620 routes weekly
- 5:07difference. We had those that lost eight or
- 5:11more hours with 17% of the routes that 13,000 739, those
- 5:19that lost for 27 Hours, 27 percent at 22,000 205.
- 5:27Loss of three, two, one hour was 18252 for 22% of the routes.
- 5:36Only 6% of the routes, did not change their, our, their weekly
- 5:41evaluation, and that's only 4958 routes.
- 5:46Now those that did add We had those added 1 to 3 hours was
- 5:5411,000 route. So 14% 427, our gain with 7050
- 6:00to for only nine percent. And those who added eight or
- 6:04more hours was four thousand four hundred and fifty nine
- 6:07four, five percent 100 percent total.
- 6:11There says a total of 80 1665 so that is actually 45 route.
- 6:20Difference. Between.
- 6:25Anybody else notice that? Yeah.
- 6:28Yeah. Where, where did they go to the
- 6:32rest of or added between the 2018 count and now?
- 6:37Okay, are they the ones in Sonora, California?
- 7:00It's an auxiliary route to offices and things like that
- 7:03after the last count, okay? That has been filed and an
- 7:23unfair Labor practice charge. the step 4, I do believe has to
- 7:31pertain to them not giving us the Information that they
- 7:38requested several times over the past year.
- 7:43And it was specifically stated that it was good.
- 7:46Supposed to be mutually agreed upon between the two parties.
- 7:53And which obviously if they have not provided the information we
- 7:56can't go over it and I can honestly say I'm pretty sure
- 8:01that 100% of the carriers have not received any information
- 8:07pulmonary information for their route so that's where that's
- 8:11coming from. I know that's true for me.
- 8:15It's true for me as well. And my office, it's true for the
- 8:21last 365 days before the mini mail survey that no, carrier
- 8:26received any information of the radar report or any other
- 8:30information regarding to the volumes on their routes.
- 8:34However, some offices were giving radar reports near the
- 8:37end here when they finally became available on the computer
- 8:39system but even those were messed up.
- 8:42So, Then you hold it all. It correlate the day of the
- 8:47receiving, the bundle Flats to the radar reports.
- 8:51That's the point. Exactly.
- 8:53Exactly. It has to be a live report of
- 8:55that day's mailing has what it needs to be.
- 8:57And management is unable to do that.
- 9:01And you know, even our Union has said that these reports are
- 9:06anywhere from two three, four days to two weeks out. so how do
- 9:14I as a carrier sign-in sheet, verifying the numbers, when you
- 9:18can't even tell me when the numbers originated where they
- 9:21came from and what days they think you know correlate to in
- 9:25regards to the mini mail survey I will say this about that paper
- 9:30it said we were only certifying them in email survey.
- 9:34Yeah, one that they wanted us to silence, verifying the numbers
- 9:37of them in email survey and if their management was not in
- 9:39putting the numbers and it was not in printed ink from a
- 9:44printer and they did not input the numbers for you correctly
- 9:47and therefore you should not assign a sheet of paper saying
- 9:50that you agree that the numbers are right on there unless they
- 9:53printed it out, like my office did well.
- 9:58Daily. She of the numbers that were
- 10:01counted each day to each route. So I will give her that.
- 10:06Well, I remember her baby. We never got the daily volume
- 10:09reports. And that again, is another thing
- 10:13you want to sign for? Because you are supposed to have
- 10:15received the daily volume reports from your management.
- 10:19And then at the end of the two weeks, verify those numbers to
- 10:23the numbers, they input on this sheet and then sign the sheet.
- 10:26Yeah. Didn't happen, didn't sign.
- 10:35So where do we go for a nail? Well of course you know April
- 10:401st is a day that they say they're going to have the new
- 10:424241 Zhou available for us as we all know.
- 10:46April 1st is April Fool's Day so let's see if they actually show
- 10:53up. it will be interesting, it will be I'm running two routes.
- 11:03Well. So what else is new?
- 11:06Yeah, you know back to being the only I see in the office.
- 11:09Yeah. And I don't know.
- 11:12You're here. Outnumbers the jokes are on you.
- 11:15Yeah. I was just wondering was if he
- 11:19all discussed this on the other the other day but with what the
- 11:25number of routes going down? Do you think that the with the,
- 11:29with the mapping And the the fine-tooth comb Inge of the edit
- 11:36books and 4040 03s that some of these routes are dropping simply
- 11:42because the pad thing has been exposed and and purged.
- 11:48Um, I believe, yes, I do. I also think this Falls in line
- 11:57where they say that 70% of the routes no longer have Amazon and
- 12:05that 66 percent drop falls into that 70.
- 12:09Yeah. And as well as, you know, the
- 12:1130% that do that didn't have Amazon at the last count.
- 12:15I got it afterwards. My office is one of Us kind of
- 12:18Falls in line or that 26% that went up but people also have to
- 12:26remember, the mail volume decrease.
- 12:28We've had the last five years. Yep.
- 12:31We have not had this discussion with my cue.
- 12:34Yeah. We have not had any type of mail
- 12:36count in five years unless you were one of the rare ones, I had
- 12:41a special account, we have not had a male count in five years.
- 12:46Yeah. I had this discussion with my
- 12:50manager, actually, today about this and we were talking about
- 12:54our office and what's going to happen to our routes.
- 12:57And the main thing that we were talking about is, how has our
- 13:02routes changed between the last mail account and this one
- 13:07letters and flats are way down for sure.
- 13:11But package volumes are either the same or gone up and for my
- 13:17area, specially house house numbers have gone up.
- 13:20We've had expansion in our areas.
- 13:23We have the housing boom going on with multiple Builders
- 13:27building neighborhoods in our areas and things like that.
- 13:31And that's one of the reasons my route was before I got into it.
- 13:35Got cut was because they added two more neighborhoods on to
- 13:38that route and those neighborhoods actually.
- 13:41Put it up over 48 so they had to cut it back.
- 13:44Well the carrier that was on it was also padding the route to
- 13:47with the other book and when I finally got on the route it was
- 13:51a 43. I got into the edit book and I
- 13:53dropped it to a 41 just with the edit book alone, just getting
- 13:57everything accurate and that was even before we had talks about
- 14:01going to the rec system and all that stuff.
- 14:03I've been sitting at a 41 42 k for the last since I got on the
- 14:07route and the volume that I have.
- 14:10I'm working almost my evaluation every day with the volume that I
- 14:15have. So I'm not afraid of my route
- 14:19going down per se because of that, but there are people that
- 14:25had a lot of flats and lot of letters on their routes that
- 14:29don't have those anymore. But because their last count was
- 14:33when they had those heavy Flats, they're going to go down and
- 14:37there's there's no argument on that because their route has
- 14:40been padded. Buy stuff.
- 14:41That's no longer there. Like for bill for one when he
- 14:56increased with losing the hours. Yeah, I mean you know I think
- 15:02for some of those routes that might be a wash Yeah, because
- 15:08I'm in that boat to. I was when I took over my route,
- 15:13three years ago, it was a 43 and then our office lost FSS also.
- 15:21And then I went up to a 45 and, I looked at I found the old the
- 15:30last 40 to 41 for my route and it said it was about 80 or 90
- 15:36Parcels a week or whatever. That number is.
- 15:40And I've been and I've been at that pretty much I've been
- 15:44staying at that number usually above, I'm usually above that.
- 15:51I mean with with now, with everything being recognized, a
- 15:53thing, with the barcode being recognized as a parcel, I'm way
- 15:58over that. So, I think it, I think it
- 16:05might, it might be a wash or I might lose a couple hours, but,
- 16:10you know, we when I, when I transferred to my office, we
- 16:13were heavy heavy Amazon. And then, and then they started
- 16:18delivering in our area and it's gone down.
- 16:22But we still get a fair amount that we still get a fair amount
- 16:25of Amazon dropped off at our office.
- 16:28So, You know, it's it's going to be.
- 16:32I think it's going to be a crapshoot.
- 16:35Yeah, you're dealing with when you're dealing with shit Edge,
- 16:39it's going to be a crapshoot. Well I'm going to say this, you
- 16:46know, the carriers that are out there that are on a 4445 K route
- 16:51and are getting done between 1:00 and 2:00 in the afternoon.
- 16:55Maybe three on a Monday, are the ones that are going to go down
- 17:00and it's not because the carrier so fast or because the carrier's
- 17:04this or that, it's because that route volume has gone down from
- 17:10the last count. They had.
- 17:12And I don't mean to be a pessimist of to the individuals
- 17:15that are super fast on the route.
- 17:17I know carriers that can do my route 2 hours faster than I do.
- 17:23But at the same time, they're not getting done at 1:00 in the
- 17:29afternoon on a heavy day. They're getting done at 3:00 in
- 17:34the afternoon, on a heavy day getting done at 2:00 on a late
- 17:38day and Mike mine. Scheduled until little after
- 17:414:00 in the afternoon. But if they're, if I'm getting
- 17:46done at 1:00 at my my speed that I do, my sons will be getting
- 17:51done at noon on my route. If that was the case.
- 17:55But it's all dependent on the volume that your route has.
- 18:00Now one of the things that I saw posted in social media was the
- 18:07the credits that you get for delivering things in the mileage
- 18:13between boxes. You know, we used to get paid by
- 18:16the mile and it was so many minutes per mile is what 12
- 18:20minutes a mile to. But if you look at the credits
- 18:24now, under Rex system. The only one that's under 12
- 18:29minutes. A mile is your dead head to your
- 18:31first box and from your last box.
- 18:34And that's nine point five minutes per mile.
- 18:37The rest of them are all over 12 minutes whether it's the short
- 18:43distance between two boxes, that are right next to each other or
- 18:47it's the distance from one box and an Xbox in the quarter mile
- 18:50away. That one was was, I believe
- 18:53sixteen point five minutes. My own that one and the short
- 18:58boxes was like almost 20 minutes per mile for the short boxes.
- 19:03Yeah. That's, you know, with that
- 19:05speed Matrix thing that they come out with that also is, you
- 19:09know, and I had to explain that to a co-worker of mine as well
- 19:13as that's doing away with the elf status.
- 19:16So there will be no, not onl status ropes anymore.
- 19:23The language is still there in the contract, and this contract,
- 19:27you're still going to be an L or an en el route.
- 19:30It just doesn't apply any any bonuses to it.
- 19:33Like it used to. Yeah, if you were an average, 12
- 19:40boxes are more per mile, your box value Factor.
- 19:44Actually, I think was down. Whereas nose up, was it higher
- 19:51if you are shorter? It was off.
- 19:52It was higher your volume Factor was higher.
- 19:54I'm a shorter route than a longer route.
- 19:57Yeah, that's right. Because remember all the routes
- 20:01in my office as of right now are out routes except for two.
- 20:07And that would be my Ox route and the other route in the same
- 20:12zip code as my auction at the 93 mile wrote.
- 20:14Those are the only two that are not Nat currently.
- 20:18Outs. Ben's.
- 20:22And the big one is that lock of FSS is a big one for a lot of
- 20:26routes to, but we're going to go into that right now.
- 20:29Like we talked about in the deleted episode to take one of
- 20:34this. Yes, Bell go we have several.
- 20:38Yeah, Bill we were talking about in that take one about how you
- 20:45had FSS on your route in during the last count.
- 20:48You had how many trays compared to what you had just Before they
- 20:52took away the FSS? Yeah.
- 20:55Well, you know, in our office we average, the, my route average
- 20:59with 639 boxes and we would average anywhere from seven to
- 21:0612 trays of FSS. By the time we got to the end of
- 21:11FSS, I was, you know, averaging a tray or two unless they ran a
- 21:17thick catalog through their per day.
- 21:21So working in numbers out and at 43 Flats of minutes which is our
- 21:27rate for the FSS Flats, I needed 182 trades a week.
- 21:33The makeup, the four hours that they gave me when they dissolve
- 21:38the FSS from our office. Now, you're not even getting a
- 21:43tray now, are you? Come on?
- 21:45Yeah. And we don't slap.
- 21:48Yeah, they're going now and and the bundle Flats you know.
- 21:53Okay find that makes up for some of them but I'm only getting
- 21:56bundled Flats twice a week and I'm only getting, you know, four
- 22:00to five bundles, you know, on a Monday.
- 22:03And then again on a Thursday or Friday That's not correlating
- 22:07into 182 trays the FSS. It's like the only time we
- 22:14really get bundled Flats in my office.
- 22:16I mean, we never had a fuss but our boneville Flats.
- 22:19We get Friday, Saturday, and Monday.
- 22:24And I mean, we might get a, a bundle one other day, Tuesday,
- 22:30through Thursday, but mostly it's Friday Saturday.
- 22:32Monday is when we get the bulk of it.
- 22:36You have back when I started we would get to Gaylord for bundled
- 22:40Flats every day. And now we're down to half a
- 22:44Gaylor Atmos so Flats aren't there periodicals were, you
- 22:54know, you were saying before James Sunday that you know, a
- 22:58lot of those periodical magazine subscriptions.
- 23:00You know, this is your last printed version.
- 23:04The next one will be Yeah. Yeah, and it's the same with
- 23:11like I had a newspaper comb, every couple of weeks that would
- 23:15be for every house in both ZIP codes in my office, every house
- 23:20in our office would get a get a newspaper business, and
- 23:23residential every address, and that newspaper shut down about a
- 23:28month ago. And now we're talking about now
- 23:31we talking about getting rid of the red pumps to, that's another
- 23:35loss that we're going to To take.
- 23:37Yeah, and the mail volumes not fair, but package volume, I
- 23:42think eventually is going to be the ruling factor of everything
- 23:46and we may just go from delivering just letters and
- 23:52third class mail, we may just go to.
- 23:54Everything's got a barcode if you want it, going through the
- 23:57Postal Service, you got to pay for tracking barcode on it.
- 24:01Because the thing is that we're going to we're stuck, providing
- 24:05a service. The service were providing is
- 24:08government document delivery. That's the main purpose of the
- 24:12post office where there to serve papers to people, whether it be
- 24:16court, papers, find tax documents things like that.
- 24:21That's our main purpose is government mailings.
- 24:27And the rest of it, just pays the bills.
- 24:32Yeah, it's one of the things that surprised me when I started
- 24:37working for the post office is how especially the
- 24:40business-to-business mail. Is how much business to business
- 24:47stuff is still done with paper checks.
- 24:51If you have a business that that sends out, if you have
- 24:55businesses that have to pay a lot of bills or do Services, I
- 25:01have a couple of, I have a couple of folks who run their
- 25:08landscaping or lawn care business, has from their homes.
- 25:13And the amount of mail they get with folks paying their bills
- 25:18is, you know, you know, I'll have I'll have an inch and
- 25:22they'll for them like, daily. So, yeah, I've got a couple
- 25:29Township treasure so when the County Treasurer.
- 25:35So, you know, when property taxes are due, you know, I'm
- 25:39picking up a lot out of her box to send out because, you know,
- 25:41they do it from home. And then everybody sending them
- 25:44back to her famous so yeah. Yeah I mean stuff like that but
- 25:50yeah other than that I mean a lot of it goes down.
- 25:52I mean it's I deliver more junk than anything anymore.
- 26:03Yeah, but people complain about third class mail, but third
- 26:08class mail is one of the revenue streams that we have F.
- 26:11And I know for a fact that I have some customers that
- 26:16actually enjoy getting the red plums in the weekly ads and
- 26:20things like that. Oh yeah, I had a I had my
- 26:24supervisor tell me he was shutting down a box is all I got
- 26:27was third class mail and I turned around and told him they
- 26:30that's all they get and they take it.
- 26:32I asked They actually stopped delivering the red pumps one day
- 26:35because I thought they're not getting any mail there, must not
- 26:37be anybody there and the customer came out and asked me
- 26:40where their weekly ad was, they actually look forward to getting
- 26:44their weekly a huh. Yeah, I had a customer on one of
- 26:47my route. So it left a note, the Box, we
- 26:49haven't gotten the coupons in a while or they just still doing
- 26:52them that what you know, we don't have room, we got em
- 26:55Sparks. And I noticed today because we
- 26:57only get him Sparks on the last Tuesday of the month and only
- 27:02are I mean, ZIP code gets them. So are two other zip codes don't
- 27:07get in which is fine by me. But before we were just getting
- 27:12the coup the the adipose and but today we actually got the card
- 27:19to go with him. So other carriers are like what
- 27:21do we do with this? I said, are they addressed?
- 27:24They're like, yeah, I looked at it.
- 27:26I said that, is your said that's your letter, walking sequence, I
- 27:31said, and your ad vosges bun, I was here.
- 27:33I said, that's your flat box holder.
- 27:36So I had to, you know, explain that to them because they never
- 27:38really dealt with the marriage male like that.
- 27:40Before in my office, I was used to it my old office.
- 27:44We always had them that way the card and they had bows but yeah,
- 27:49it's I'm interested in pretty much every way right there.
- 27:56Yeah. The the other thing that we
- 27:59talked about IPM and I were talking about these evaluations
- 28:02and stuff and we were talking about, do we think that carriers
- 28:07not in putting their stuff in the scanner hurt them and for
- 28:13things like the monthly Shoppers Mercury advertisements that you
- 28:19get once a month, not a big, big effect.
- 28:23Tan move valuations, but your unscanned parcel, your will
- 28:31reach customer your stamp stock sales, those affect your
- 28:36evaluation, big-time any scan, you can do that legitimate
- 28:43benefits your route and those that were doing the, minimum six
- 28:48cans are going to get the minimum evaluation for their
- 28:53route. In everything you do.
- 28:55On top of that, adds to it. Even those monthly Advils may
- 28:59add a minute or two to your route but every minute or two
- 29:03you add to. It is a benefit to your route.
- 29:06Yeah. Because you're then getting full
- 29:07coverage for that day and we all know Tuesdays are one of the
- 29:11lightest days of the week and you want to add that full
- 29:14coverage, let alone double full coverage by having the marriage
- 29:17mail. You want that and you want to
- 29:22get, make sure that's inputted. Yeah, and you want to make sure
- 29:27that every hold that you take out that has more than eight
- 29:31pieces to it isn't unscanned parcel?
- 29:34Yes. Yep.
- 29:35Whether you put it, whether you put it in the mailbox, so you
- 29:37take it to the door or any of that stuff, doesn't matter.
- 29:41The rules on Rex, say that in unscanned hold mail that has
- 29:45more than eight pieces is an unscanned parcel and that's post
- 29:49coming from the union side and the management training that I
- 29:54got. So lucky to get to go.
- 29:55Oh to, I got to go to the mini mail survey training for
- 29:59management and listen to that stuff and it may even said
- 30:02anything. Any old male.
- 30:04It's over eight pieces and then scan parcel.
- 30:07Yeah, bill. And I got to go attend that as
- 30:09well. But yeah.
- 30:13It's in a, you know, and I went back and I made sure that all my
- 30:17carriers new you're taking that hold mail back then that, you
- 30:23know, you got more than eight pieces in there and I, I know
- 30:27plenty of people that get more than eight pieces on a daily,
- 30:30um, that you know, that's You know, that's a nonce.
- 30:36Can parcel you you you want that credit?
- 30:39Definitely. Yeah.
- 30:42Because we had our weekly Shopper used to be put out by
- 30:46the Kansas City newspaper. Then they stopped doing it for a
- 30:51couple weeks. And then the, the main grocery
- 30:54store that was doing it started putting it out on their own.
- 30:59So we got it back. And now what they've been doing
- 31:02is the last couple, at least, at least a couple of times.
- 31:10Now, some of our other monthly which would normally be a full
- 31:15coverage, our value male circular and there was another
- 31:21one have been included in it. It's been super thick like it
- 31:25was today. so, so we're kind of losing out on a monthly on a
- 31:32monthly coverage or two, But at the same point where the same
- 31:37time we're still get, we still have, we're still having that
- 31:40Weekly. Every route in my office has a
- 31:43weekly at least one weekly, full coverage, putting out, the, the
- 31:47grocery store ad, and what you were saying before James is,
- 31:51I've had people when I was ours, when I was an RCA and something
- 31:54on other routes, I had a couple of routes where people came up
- 31:57and complain that they didn't get them for some week.
- 32:00And absolutely told me that, that's how they plan their
- 32:02shopping that week. And it's like okay hey I have an
- 32:08extra one here that it wasn't delivering boxes vacant, you can
- 32:11have this one. There you go.
- 32:13And it's customers like with customers like that, that make
- 32:16you appreciate delivering that stuff.
- 32:19Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 32:21Oh yeah. Oh yes.
- 32:23I think every I at least in my office I think I think every
- 32:26route has what I call a catalog Queen.
- 32:29Oh yeah that just it just seems to get every every cat what are
- 32:37the routes in our office? I swear this lady and the day if
- 32:43there's a day that goes by that she does not get a catalog, I
- 32:47would it used to be on my Matrix if there was just no day that
- 32:52they didn't get. Some catalog of some stripe but
- 32:58normally normally it wouldn't it was not unusual to daily
- 33:04deliver. Her an inch of mail, mostly
- 33:07mostly Flats. They have I have a guy of my
- 33:11route, that's a donation King. He getting all those, all those
- 33:16Onika us letters and stuff and it's literally a handful.
- 33:21He actually has a 2-inch lot in my case, just because of how
- 33:25much mail volume he is. I have a couple of inches.
- 33:30Hey, John, you made it. Holy crap.
- 33:34All right, I have one and I was actually Josh and I talked for a
- 33:39while. On the route yesterday and I got
- 33:41to his box and I was like, all right now I'm at the box of just
- 33:45keep grabbing the handfuls of DPS until you come up to the end
- 33:48and finish the last few out that don't belong to him and then put
- 33:51them in the box and yeah it was Monday but that's almost nearly
- 33:55a daily thing for that that Resident.
- 34:01Is there just one whole day? They don't get one of the little
- 34:03hole cubby. They get it.
- 34:05They get their own tub. Yes, yes I know a few of those I
- 34:09think there's at least one or two on every route Iran in my
- 34:12office like might not hold the right now, he's only going to be
- 34:18on hold for through the weekend. He's already in a tub.
- 34:21I'll include a he's already gone bigger than one of my my whole
- 34:25gases. Oh yeah, I got I've got a
- 34:31section of my route that Kate. That's it catered.
- 34:36I don't know in the past. I think it catered to a 55 plus
- 34:39Community, but I just have people on there who, when I who
- 34:44regularly go on hold and even if it's for a few days is like,
- 34:47nope, that's going. It's going in a tub for two
- 34:50reasons. One, the volume of Mail, they'll
- 34:52get in those, you know, you know, three, four, five days.
- 34:57But to, they most of the people In there.
- 34:59Do customer pick. Do it as they'll pick up the
- 35:02accumulated mail. Yeah we got quite a few of those
- 35:04two and I and I and I appreciate those folks a lot and so yeah
- 35:10I'll throw the may. I just kind of throw the mail in
- 35:12the tub, but when it's getting close to when they're picking it
- 35:15up, I tidy it up. You know, I've kind of put the
- 35:20Flats on the bottom and some sort of order, kind of put the
- 35:23kind of tidy up the the letter mail.
- 35:25So it's in some kind of, so it looks kind of neat, you know.
- 35:29But we have to do that everybody every Wednesday in my office,
- 35:34all the holds that are still on, hold need to be gone through.
- 35:37Put an order in rubber-banded every Wednesday.
- 35:43Oh hmm, you get missed plenty of time for that.
- 35:49You know, I'm part of your into duty.
- 35:52Yes. That hurry, you're referring to
- 35:54be you. That is part of the other shitty
- 35:56gonna clean you. That's part of the which was
- 36:03actually kind of nice. So just having my Ox route
- 36:05because I was finally able to do my update.
- 36:09The couple things I needed update in my edit book today
- 36:12because this whole past week, I ran two routes and so it wasn't
- 36:18my end. Shift on my Ark.
- 36:20So I was just put person, but not off on doing that till it
- 36:24was my actual end of shift on my ox.
- 36:27And today was that rare day with, I was home by 11:30 this
- 36:32morning and that was, that was after dropping the Lov off at
- 36:39the at the repair shop, to inspect the tire that's got a
- 36:44slow leak. And yeah, I was still home in
- 36:48less than Operation so I'll take it.
- 36:53I I just I opted to not touch the marriage Palace pouring so
- 36:59get out her friends like nothing.
- 37:03I actually worked everything into my GPS and sort of casing
- 37:06it today like I bundled my CV use I was back in the office
- 37:12which included having to circle around to go back to my large
- 37:17company for the stand, the blue box because I got there. 10:00
- 37:24and I have to wait till 11 to your skin.
- 37:26It so I was back in the office by 115, put up an Irish mail
- 37:32with in my car by 3:30. And I regret it.
- 37:38I do take a couple smoke breaks. Why was p.m. casing but So I was
- 37:45way under today was going back to the what things are you
- 37:53remember from when you were going through the numbers of the
- 37:59route? Classification student scale.
- 38:01Who gained versus the cake off the case.
- 38:08Did anyone else take notice that the 16,000 whatever number of
- 38:13cases from losing happens to equal the same amount of games
- 38:19and both JH and A's? Yeah.
- 38:27You know, so see we're looking at a little coincidental to me
- 38:33that the numbers work out perfectly.
- 38:38Well, I look at it this way, there are some K routes out
- 38:42there that are small enough to be in off Route.
- 38:47There are some that are small enough to be an HR out.
- 38:50There are some that are small enough to be a j route, and I
- 38:54don't think they've usually put in the number of people who
- 38:57signed the high option in that either.
- 39:01I could take their K route down to a j or there.
- 39:04Now, J route down to 1/8, throughout So that's the other
- 39:09numbers that we also don't have, is that section, but you're the
- 39:14fact that also have playing about says, it went up the
- 39:21number of hbhb ox routes that we've gained here are now going
- 39:27to be carriers that are going to have no assigned route where we
- 39:32going to put them. Because it says that it's only
- 39:381:30. But given where that demographic
- 39:44is. I mean, like, like I mentioned
- 39:47Sunday that, you know, we do have areas in some, in some,
- 39:53some regions that are posting full-time routes for anybody to
- 39:58apply off the street for And I think we kind of, we kind of
- 40:03touched on that especially with where we're sitting at, you
- 40:07know, if we end up with more people, that decide that, you
- 40:10know what I'm done, I can retire.
- 40:13Now, anyways, I'm done whole now or you know what, I am just done
- 40:18and they walk off the job, you know?
- 40:21And then you got these rights that bounce back and forth
- 40:24between and then you don't have RCA's to fill it because they
- 40:28don't have a year read or you don't have ours Cas at all or
- 40:32they're not even out of probation.
- 40:33Once it bounces back from District, back to the office.
- 40:37And so now they're getting posted for anybody to apply off
- 40:40the street. I think we kind of touched on a
- 40:44little bit of why can't we have a, you know, I understand the
- 40:49mutual transfer and District ride, beds for regular routes
- 40:53for people to be able to move. And transfer in this case, why
- 40:57can't we put up a national type B?
- 41:03Well, I'm looking at this from my my office perspective on this
- 41:08growing all these Ox routes out of K.
- 41:11Routes is not a good thing but maybe maybe just maybe these are
- 41:17in offices that are already short-handed and maybe they can
- 41:22be absorbed into the H and J routes that are there and lower
- 41:27the number of routes that are out there.
- 41:30But at the same time, increase these Other routes to where
- 41:33they're actually back up to a k route.
- 41:36You know we don't know where or what Rhyme or Reason we have for
- 41:41all these losses and changes and things like that but we can
- 41:46surmise that there's going to be stuff that we as we as rural
- 41:51carriers and as a postal office, can do to possibly mitigate this
- 41:57whole scenario of death to the route.
- 42:01That we're getting right now with the losses that we've been
- 42:05seeing posted. There's going to be people that
- 42:09are going to retire from this. There's going to be people who
- 42:13are going to quit because of this.
- 42:15But with we ride this out and we find a way to turn this around
- 42:21to benefit the carriers. Then we can actually make a
- 42:27bigger impact overall. Well, I don't think there's a
- 42:31carrier out there. I don't think there's a carrier
- 42:34out there that wouldn't take the time, to better their route and
- 42:39help benefit the customers in their areas.
- 42:41Because almost, I think, almost everybody that I've talked to
- 42:44that works for the Post Office, does it for two reasons for the
- 42:47money and for the people on the route?
- 42:50Mhm. Oh yeah, we touched on
- 42:52indefinitely for the customers and the benefits, you know, the
- 42:55retirement, you know, and that was kind of brought up by, you
- 42:58know, When the carriers in my office that has my primary
- 43:04route. Not my Ox because I'm a five in
- 43:06one, but my primary even though I rarely run it anymore.
- 43:10He's like what if I drop? Because it's only a 43k right
- 43:14now and it's a 93 mile route he's one of those long 400 in
- 43:20Yeah, 470 boxes 93 miles. So it's a lot of driving.
- 43:27And you know, his biggest thing is, is what if I drop so much?
- 43:30I said, well, you can rebuild it off the ox route and he's like,
- 43:34well, I have white, you know, I can't do that right away.
- 43:36I have to wait to the auction rooms vacant.
- 43:38Not necessarily no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 43:42You hold down on it. They can, they can easily just
- 43:46shut that rock down and cut. It do whatever they want with us
- 43:49because there is not an assigned regular military even though I
- 43:5779. I am still an RCA.
- 44:00I said no I said they can rebuild off a tox route that
- 44:03just moves me back to be in a designated 78.
- 44:06Again I said but they cannot put that because that used to be all
- 44:10one route. I said that you can reabsorb the
- 44:12aux route to build it back up. Yep.
- 44:14That's only. You know it's only 100 more
- 44:17boxes and 17 miles. So it'll give you a few more
- 44:20hours but and that would just make me a 78.
- 44:25You don't have to wait until Oh, it's vacated and I said if she
- 44:28wants to put up that fight, I said I'll fight that one for you
- 44:31tooth and nail, you know, I'm only, I six more months and I'll
- 44:35be going regular. So you know, if I go back down
- 44:39to a designated 78 for a couple months or whatever, so be it,
- 44:44it's not like, I'm not running everything in the office as it
- 44:46is right now anyways, Yeah, I mean that's you know his only
- 44:52saving grace If he if he does drop a considerable amount is
- 44:58being able to reabsorb that Ox row. and I think, like I said,
- 45:03we were saying before where you have these offices with these
- 45:06shortages and if you're going to have these drops, I think a lot
- 45:12of it may just kind of okay, you're short carriers, your Char
- 45:17RCA's especially, Routes are dropping.
- 45:22You got to rebuild them back up. Well, now you're going to kind
- 45:25of try and almost even the playing field just a little bit.
- 45:31Yeah, you can if you can take two or three routes that your
- 45:35vacant on, cut them up and put them on your 7 routes that you
- 45:39have in your office. That's three less regular.
- 45:48You got it out, James. And we're back.
- 45:58Oops, we had a glitch. Okay, James where we left.
- 46:01Our, they're saying you have three vacant house.
- 46:06So that three left carriers, three less regular carriers, and
- 46:12three less sub that they're forced to hire for the contract.
- 46:16So you're saving the post office money on that, you're saving the
- 46:19number of carriers that we need to hire as well.
- 46:22And on top of that, your benefit, The routes that have
- 46:25gone down by merging those routes into them.
- 46:29So you're saving money, but also building up the carrier's, pay
- 46:34on those other routes. And that's the biggest benefit
- 46:37we can get out of. This is finding the way to merge
- 46:40routes together to build them back up.
- 46:42Indicate routes, which is what we've been losing. and, With
- 46:50that, I would say, North Carolina just took was supposed
- 46:54to be a test or Pilot for the route optimization to be able to
- 47:02put the rails together with the turn-by-turn in the line of
- 47:05travel. To allow that, you know, to for
- 47:09them to place, you know, for situations like that.
- 47:13And that's why the program the program was called rural route
- 47:17optimization. That's one of the features, they
- 47:19were going to put into it. And then you have the line of
- 47:21travel manager, which allows you to optimize, the line of travel
- 47:25they do. So, you prevent pack tracking
- 47:27and things like that. It was just these two programs
- 47:31have more features in them than they actually released in this
- 47:34first update and they're slowly going to roll them.
- 47:36I'm out. Probably.
- 47:39Right. I know that the testing of that
- 47:44has been put to the wayside at least for now. and then higher
- 47:51headquarters this not rolled down to the Ops board, bro, up
- 47:58coordinators How they're actually going to do cuts and
- 48:04adjustments yet? Which is part of the reason why
- 48:09they won't do anything until after October.
- 48:14And and they know exactly everything that people are
- 48:17getting in the mail. These days.
- 48:18I mean we have the digital processing system for letters
- 48:22and then you also have the mailers that are telling the
- 48:25Postal Service. Exactly which address of the
- 48:28getting their flat and then you also have the barcodes that tell
- 48:31you exactly the addresses are like you can tell with load
- 48:34truck feature, although some people are having issues with it
- 48:37right now. It actually tells you the exact
- 48:40address that Barco goes to, you don't even have to have the
- 48:43address on the package anymore. Just the bar code and you can
- 48:46tell where it goes. Yeah, you can look at a dress up
- 48:50by scanning the barcode. There's that feature to not even
- 48:53on the little Rockets you can. There's actually a lookup
- 48:57address. Yep.
- 49:00And then with the barcodes on the letters.
- 49:02Yeah, yeah. Well the SPM scans.
- 49:06Yep, those actually that they are.
- 49:09That's what you used for your if you're doing a move left, no
- 49:13address on the scanner, you just scan the barcode on it and it
- 49:17puts everything from the letter. Yep.
- 49:19Right there into the move left. No address Peak feature.
- 49:25I have not used that one yet, maybe I should find out the
- 49:31time. Yep.
- 49:34Yeah, just take a decent listing of Pisa.
- 49:36Just take a piece of mail from the address from the from the
- 49:40address you're doing and just scan, the little bar code at the
- 49:43bottom and it populates everything and then you just say
- 49:47is this, you know, individual or family.
- 49:52Yeah. And with that, that rural route
- 49:54optimization, they can tell exactly how many minutes each
- 49:58mailbox will each address will put under a route.
- 50:01So they can take a small section of a neighborhood or Business.
- 50:06Park things like that and cut it to another route and know
- 50:10exactly how many minutes is going to add to the route.
- 50:15Something that the lot of people didn't know is that if in the
- 50:18are the rural route optimization system, the measurements that we
- 50:22have for each mailbox, will tell you exactly how much too kind,
- 50:24of course only management has access to that portion of it but
- 50:29it's there. Which kind of ties into what we
- 50:35also talked about Sunday, but will bring that back up this
- 50:41next Sunday when we cover resolutions.
- 50:44We kind of started that this past Sunday, but we insist
- 50:48instead of going a full two hours again denied where we're
- 50:51going to divide that up and next Sunday we'll get into the
- 50:53resolutions. And I know that was part of one
- 50:56of the resolutions James has, is when it comes to cutting routes
- 51:00and a carrier having more input. I'm how a route is cut and what
- 51:05sections because, yeah, you're going to management knows what
- 51:09they want to do and it doesn't make sense.
- 51:13Look at some point and hopefully with this with this and they
- 51:23don't even have to listen to it. And honestly, they don't even
- 51:27listen to local management when local management.
- 51:30Suggest the cut So the key here is hopefully, with this system,
- 51:37the rural route optimization and the line of travel manager that
- 51:42will take away a lot of that willy-nilly cut from over here
- 51:46and over there to make a make, this route better, or make this
- 51:50aux route and things like that, it will be more linear.
- 51:54And Better overall for everybody.
- 51:57That's what I'm hoping. But the big thing we're talking
- 52:00about today is our evaluations and what it means to us.
- 52:07And I think to us, there's too many variables to answer the
- 52:12question, straight forward and say this is what's going to
- 52:16happen. This is why or anything like
- 52:19that and it's going to be on a route by Route basis.
- 52:23And until we have until we have our full evaluation that we can
- 52:27look at the numbers and say yeah that sounds close to right.
- 52:32You know it doesn't have to be perfect.
- 52:37It just has to be closed. Well, in the car because we
- 52:52know you're probably going to be the one that got 8 plus h added
- 52:55on, just so they can Cut You Down.
- 53:02Maybe. Well, I have a very large
- 53:06company that will get anywhere from and it shows up is the
- 53:11Mughal Kumail, you know, the mlo tray, so it's not actually my
- 53:16GPS, it comes into the multi falls under the multi-point,
- 53:21which is why do that total slides into the case smell
- 53:25column, which is raw water. During the count, during just
- 53:33the two weeks of the mail survey.
- 53:38It was only about 1,500 pieces less than my GPS.
- 53:49So for the first, you know, in previous counts me and the
- 53:53supervisory, it was doing accounting mutually agreed.
- 53:57I get the tray from the clerk, I put it in my truck, I take it
- 54:02out and I give it to the mailroom and they sort it, give
- 54:06me, give me a partial credit. Before which is fine.
- 54:12You know I'm like okay I'm not touching it.
- 54:14I'm not doing anything with it except for anything at all.
- 54:18Well, now I'm actually getting a piece count on it and because
- 54:23they're closed on Saturdays, 34 trees.
- 54:28I may get Saturday. I could technically take on skin
- 54:33partial credits for each of those.
- 54:36On Monday. so, which I haven't been but I'm saying I could and
- 54:47like, I'm like anything. Sorry, I was running against I
- 55:14said. I wanted to make sure I didn't
- 55:18want to double dip. so basically, you know, it's not
- 55:38going to help anybody now because we can't come to any
- 55:43conclusions because we don't have the information.
- 55:47We don't have the damn right. It's not like previous mail
- 55:50counts where you counted everything in the office.
- 55:53You had your preliminary count in front of you before it was
- 55:56finalized, you had an idea right now, everybody's in the dark
- 56:01except for what we had of the many mail survey and that's long
- 56:06as you're off. If is inputted it, like they
- 56:07were supposed to that, you know, that's all we have.
- 56:11Is that little 6%, we have nothing else.
- 56:17Four percent. and if I remember, I were talking about that on
- 56:22Sunday, I said, realistically 90% of the routes were set up,
- 56:31you know, even before the survey started, because this 4 percent
- 56:35of male that they counted in the office, you're working out the
- 56:41raw working now is not going to be enough to change, you know,
- 56:46there's, you know, maybe 10% of the routes.
- 56:52It'll be enough for that one or two minutes to put them over to
- 56:56the next evaluated at work. And I, you know, I always also
- 57:02was saying Parsa see if you guys were talking about earlier
- 57:07Parcels thing out, think they are staying the Same Old Point
- 57:12up for the most part. Four people, parcel increase in
- 57:19Parcels, for the most part is not going to make enough of a
- 57:23difference. To offset the loss of flats and
- 57:28letters. It'll help unless you just pick,
- 57:32you picked up Amazon and you didn't have it before that where
- 57:37you're delivering an extra 50 or 100 parcels and day is going to
- 57:41be a benefit. But if you're only did like,
- 57:44delivering 10 or 12 more per day than the 2018 count, it's not
- 57:48going to make a difference. And if you're delivering a lot
- 57:50less than the 2018, how is going to make a huge difference, going
- 57:55to make a difference, right? Yeah, right.
- 57:59But you know the sluts have always no raw Flats.
- 58:06Whether it be working out of a dispatch tub, you're free.
- 58:10Now, the priests or bundles have always been if you as far back
- 58:14as I can remember. 10. Jewel minute.
- 58:21That's the one standard that has never changed.
- 58:25Over the years. That's realistically where the
- 58:32money's at right now. As you know bill was saying
- 58:36early start on Sunday and earlier his wax who dwindled
- 58:41down to Like nothing 1/10 1/10 of what he had before, right?
- 58:49You know, my fossil doubt he'll ever let you down?
- 58:54Well, I get a decent amount of plastic, put most of them go to
- 58:58that companies and again most of its Return to Sender stuff.
- 59:03And that's also a route by Route basis because I know some route
- 59:07were, you know, the mail volume for some routes is quite a bit
- 59:10more than mail route for than the mail for volume for other
- 59:14routes. I mean that's open it and just
- 59:16my office alone. So I'm routes or volumes heavier
- 59:20than others. Right.
- 59:23Yeah, I given you know, You know, we can't come to
- 59:27conclusions, we don't have the numbers.
- 59:30We don't know we And you know, and it's like that.
- 59:36Part is Where Do We Go From Here?
- 59:38Well it's again, it's a waiting game.
- 59:42Yep you got you just do what you can to optimize your route to
- 59:49your benefit as honestly as you can.
- 59:54And that's the other side of that this is finally account
- 59:59where 90% of what's on the route.
- 1:00:03Is honest, there is no hiding male there is there is no
- 1:00:10holding Flats back. There's no hiding mail in
- 1:00:13trailers at the plant or any of that stuff on this because it's
- 1:00:18a pre-internet behind you. Yeah.
- 1:00:24All right, I'm gonna call you all out on this, okay?
- 1:00:27Because 90% of the route around the valuations honest, because
- 1:00:33it's all automated. Are you talking about the
- 1:00:36automated system that post office issued your back?
- 1:00:39Pay on, are you talking about the you talk about the
- 1:00:42automation that, you know, was supposed to do too many mail
- 1:00:45survey and September and couldn't produce the results.
- 1:00:48And then when they do it in March and February March, it
- 1:00:51can't produce results. Are you talking about that
- 1:00:53automated? System the automated?
- 1:00:55Oh, I'm talking radar. Reports are given to you and you
- 1:00:58don't know if they're two three days, four days behind or two
- 1:01:02weeks behind when you actually receive those bundles systems.
- 1:01:06You're talking about the automated system that the United
- 1:01:09States Postal Service as the only eyes on and we can't gain
- 1:01:15access to it. That's a 90% you're saying
- 1:01:17there's honestly. No, I'm sorry.
- 1:01:20I like being paranoid because for four years of active, so
- 1:01:24Come Duty, it kept me alive and I'm telling you.
- 1:01:27There's bullshit in the wind when they can give you sixty six
- 1:01:31percent of the routes are going down, but can't provide the
- 1:01:34numbers to the union. bull shit and can't provide the numbers to
- 1:01:40the carriers to I mean, they can't provide the number to
- 1:01:44management. Yeah.
- 1:01:47Well, even management can access those numbers.
- 1:01:49What headquarters can't when headquarters supposedly has all
- 1:01:53this information yet? They can't share it, or won't
- 1:01:58share. What I'm talking about.
- 1:02:00If you wanted an Earnest count on this stuff, you're literally
- 1:02:06going to have to count every single piece of mail you have
- 1:02:10that comes through your route. You're gonna have to sit there
- 1:02:13and count every single one of them 365 days a year count.
- 1:02:18Every single one of them. Every day you work, count,
- 1:02:21everything you have your sub, count everything on your day
- 1:02:24off. That's the only way to get a
- 1:02:26100% honest evaluation the 90%. I'm talking about is not male.
- 1:02:35You don't have well, it kind of is, you don't have hidden mail
- 1:02:40at the plants anymore because it's not worth it for them to
- 1:02:43hide it anymore, because it's going to come through the
- 1:02:46system. One way or another, whether it's
- 1:02:48during the mini mail survey or outside of that, you don't have
- 1:02:53dishonest carriers, keeping vacant homes on the route
- 1:02:58anymore, well, because the system is Monitoring that as
- 1:03:06well. And actually pinging management,
- 1:03:09telling them that hey this route has this address hasn't gotten
- 1:03:12mail in the last 90 days. You have a system that's
- 1:03:17actually doing that which is funny because it will pull a
- 1:03:20vacant address as soon as as soon as it hits the 90th day.
- 1:03:23L told me this address haven't got mail in 90 days.
- 1:03:27But they can't tell us our numbers.
- 1:03:30You have management telling carriers that they can't punch
- 1:03:32in one minute before their start time.
- 1:03:37Yes, amazingly. They can tell you exactly down
- 1:03:40to the second the time you clocked in at.
- 1:03:43Yeah. But they can't tell us our
- 1:03:44number but yet they want to give us all of our little messages on
- 1:03:51the scanner and videos prior to clocking in Yes, I think that
- 1:03:58should actually be moved to after the after you punch clock
- 1:04:01in because now every, every union now has to use a scanner
- 1:04:08to clock in, whether you be a clerk, a city carrier or rural
- 1:04:12carrier you're clocking in on a scanner.
- 1:04:15So they should be able to reprogram it to put that stuff
- 1:04:17in right after you. Hit the clock in button, but now
- 1:04:21you got to do it for hand and the narrow.
- 1:04:27Automatically clocks. Which is should do for us to.
- 1:04:32But when I get into that Thursday because each Union has
- 1:04:36their own set of programmers and they don't talk to each other.
- 1:04:41What if, like the management doesn't talk to the union, but
- 1:04:44but to each other. Yeah, right.
- 1:04:49The only, the only thing they can do is they can go into these
- 1:04:53programs and actually physically change the numbers in the
- 1:04:57program itself. They have to literally login and
- 1:05:00Manually change these numbers because most of it is automated
- 1:05:05nobody touches it. Nobody looks at it, nobody
- 1:05:08verifies it, it's completely automated.
- 1:05:14But we need that access to see what's going on with those
- 1:05:17numbers and nobody's able to get in there because apparently
- 1:05:21these programmers were the cheapest.
- 1:05:24They could fly higher, which is typical for government and they
- 1:05:29probably didn't think far enough ahead to look at this and say,
- 1:05:33hey, look, we're going to have arguments over this.
- 1:05:35Let's do this. So we have to say here, we have
- 1:05:39to figure it out ourselves. And that's the hardest part of
- 1:05:43it all because you have to figure out for an entire year,
- 1:05:46all your numbers instead of just a two-week period and then trust
- 1:05:51that a computer is doing it the right way.
- 1:05:55And yet, if you have informed delivery, you seen letters
- 1:06:00coming into your informed delivery that are even for your
- 1:06:03address. I haven't had that yet.
- 1:06:09I've seen it on my informed delivery.
- 1:06:13But it wasn't in the DPS for that for my route to my house.
- 1:06:19You know, informed delivery is an accurate to the day, right?
- 1:06:24I know that but I'm saying that it's the letter that I saw in my
- 1:06:28form. Delivery never even made it into
- 1:06:30the DPS for the route that I was on that I live on. because I
- 1:06:34was, I was actually the summer record for my, my route to my
- 1:06:38house, for a while there before I became regular, But we have
- 1:06:43to, we're supposed to trust a computer system built by humans.
- 1:06:48Tell us how much money you were making.
- 1:06:50And there's your biggest, the biggest thing that people have a
- 1:06:55problem with and regulated by the United States Postal
- 1:06:58Service. An adult by the fire the
- 1:07:01cheapest contractors. Good government could find.
- 1:07:05Well what I was saying part, I part of the problem with the
- 1:07:09numbers not being there or available yet, is they didn't
- 1:07:13have the foresight to have them uploaded into the program.
- 1:07:18On a daily or weekly basis. Prior to the survey.
- 1:07:23So now they're trying to upload 52 weeks worth of data for was
- 1:07:29it 80,000 in 5000 rounds at the same time?
- 1:07:36yeah, eighty-one thousand and six hundred and something,
- 1:07:40depending on which chart you look at 620 or yeah, or 665
- 1:07:46something if if that data, because if you look back with
- 1:07:53the Old Mill counts, yeah, you can get a preliminary number it
- 1:07:57and at the end of the two weeks or three weeks or four weeks,
- 1:08:01But it was two to three papers for you.
- 1:08:04Got the official numbers that if they were and they actually
- 1:08:14start uploading this data. On a daily even weekly basis.
- 1:08:21Come September, they potentially will be able to have it with
- 1:08:25you, you know, that week. He could literally have already
- 1:08:30after. They could have literally have
- 1:08:32it the day after it is approved. Authorized at the office if they
- 1:08:37did it, right. You would literally know the day
- 1:08:41after the many meal surveys over in your in your survey numbers
- 1:08:45were put in the computer. You would literally be able to
- 1:08:47know what your routes be coming right after that, right?
- 1:08:53But they're not willing to do that.
- 1:08:57Right hope, hopefully for future account.
- 1:09:02So actually start doing that. So we will have to go through
- 1:09:08the same BS every time and you also have the.
- 1:09:14We also have to remember this is a this is a new system.
- 1:09:20The first time, an old computers Or the cheapest computers.
- 1:09:27They could buy through a government program.
- 1:09:30So they don't have a lot of memory.
- 1:09:32They don't have a lot of processing speed or anything of
- 1:09:36that nature. It's not like the gaming
- 1:09:38computers, you can go down to Best Buy and get this the
- 1:09:41cheapest professional computers. They could find to make this
- 1:09:46work. So you're going to have problems
- 1:09:50and then you have the programmers who are paid,
- 1:09:53probably paid a lot less than what they're really worth to
- 1:09:56make this program happen. And a system that has been
- 1:10:02worked on for 11 years. And where this was handed to us
- 1:10:08in arbitration. And when The engineers got
- 1:10:15together with the arbitration and they said this should be in
- 1:10:18place by 2015. And here we are in 2023 and it's
- 1:10:25still not in place and not to mention all the reorganization
- 1:10:31we've had at headquarters And all the original people not
- 1:10:36there and all these other branding that nobody knows what
- 1:10:40the hell they're doing because they all had their thumbs up
- 1:10:42their asses for the 10 years to begin with.
- 1:10:46And now it's an even bigger. Cut, everybody think everybody
- 1:10:52saying these numbers benefit the post office this and that we had
- 1:10:55a previous count. We had previous numbers if it
- 1:11:00would have actually benefited the post office.
- 1:11:02It would have been initialized immediately.
- 1:11:05Yeah, I've been saying that all along. and because you look at
- 1:11:12this and you look at these numbers, you look at the number
- 1:11:15of routes that we have in the number of carriers that we
- 1:11:20actually have registered in the union, both dues-paying and
- 1:11:24nandu Spain, there's less carriers in there are routes so,
- 1:11:32it would benefit the post office to find a way to lower the
- 1:11:35number of routes, but at the same time, raise the pay for
- 1:11:41other carriers. Somehow.
- 1:11:45So there's got to be some give-and-take somewhere in this
- 1:11:50and we've got to look at this in a positive light for ourselves.
- 1:11:53I know a lot of people are negative about it but there can
- 1:11:56be a positive outcome that comes from this.
- 1:12:00The one of those is knowing how much volume each route has It's
- 1:12:09cool. And I think a lot of that
- 1:12:10negativity comes out of the fear of the unknown because we don't
- 1:12:14know the data. And that's the fear of the
- 1:12:18unknown is where we're getting the negativity from.
- 1:12:21I, you know, I myself am trying to be optimistic.
- 1:12:24I've, you know, as being, you know, the only one really
- 1:12:29involved in anything Union and being the local Steward and you
- 1:12:33know, keeping up-to-date everybody in my office comes to
- 1:12:36me about every little thing about it and every day, I mean,
- 1:12:42I still get one. That asks me, I don't know where
- 1:12:45she got the idea. Idea of that, we're supposed to
- 1:12:47get 150 dollar. Pay ball or one-time thing.
- 1:12:54I don't know where she saw that. And then she was like, well I
- 1:12:58saw I went up this much on my yearly but it's only like a few
- 1:13:02bucks a check. I said that's your Cola.
- 1:13:04That's your cold and you know trying to explain that to her
- 1:13:09that was yeah don't get me started but I mean literally
- 1:13:13yeah you know I've got one other carrier who gets you know he's
- 1:13:17got the app and so when the thing came through Saturday And
- 1:13:23so Monday, he calls me. Yeah, I was he was already done
- 1:13:30with his route and I was still on my Ox route, still had to go
- 1:13:32finish the other whole route and he's like, did you hear?
- 1:13:36Yes, I already knew about it. I already knew about it.
- 1:13:41I yes, I know it just, you know, Every little thing.
- 1:13:49And so, you know, I walk into the office and that's the for
- 1:13:53hey, hey, hey. And then every other carrier
- 1:13:55stops to hear what's going on because they're clueless and
- 1:13:58have no clue. What's going on and then three
- 1:14:00more people are asking questions and I'm going, I don't know.
- 1:14:04I can't answer that for you. I don't have the data.
- 1:14:10That's one of the things we want to do here, with, with this.
- 1:14:13You know, why I came on with you guys is because you guys are
- 1:14:17here Trying to help give information to the massive about
- 1:14:23what's going on here and the confusion that's going on.
- 1:14:28We need to have people sit together and go over the like
- 1:14:32this and say, hey it may look bad right now, but there is a
- 1:14:37silver lining to everything that's going on.
- 1:14:42And there is a reason why we are rural carriers.
- 1:14:49And that's because we love what we do.
- 1:14:53We love our people that we deliver to And we love the job
- 1:14:59that we do and we may not get along with, we may not get along
- 1:15:04with management, we may not like what management is doing.
- 1:15:09But we like the job that we do, and once we get out of that
- 1:15:13office for on our own, we enjoy being out there.
- 1:15:17It's like what I said at National Convention during
- 1:15:20caucuses at each, everyone we're family where we are all family
- 1:15:25does family argue and fight and not get along at times.
- 1:15:29Yes. But do we still have our
- 1:15:30families back? Absolutely.
- 1:15:34We are all brothers and sisters in this.
- 1:15:36And we all have to watch each other's backs.
- 1:15:41Anybody, anybody that's listening to this anybody you
- 1:15:45have questions, you have concerns comment, get ahold of
- 1:15:51us. Go through our social media
- 1:15:53Pages. Yes, and on that segue, I'm
- 1:15:58going to add that in normally. Yep, we have been on Amazon
- 1:16:02podcast, Apple podcast Spotify. We have our Discord Channel.
- 1:16:09We have Facebook page. We have Facebook group, we have
- 1:16:12our email at United, We scan podcast at gmail, I just started
- 1:16:19an Instagram page. We are uploading stuff onto
- 1:16:22YouTube now to and we've also added Stitcher as well as
- 1:16:28iHeartRadio of. So literally every podcast
- 1:16:36Platform out there just about and if there's a couple smaller
- 1:16:39ones that I didn't get on quite yet, we are out there.
- 1:16:43You can message us anywhere if you know, who we are your
- 1:16:47friends with Facebook. So most of us are in most of the
- 1:16:51social media groups and one capacity or another, you know,
- 1:16:54private messages. If we don't have an answer with,
- 1:16:58you know, if you have a question, if you want something
- 1:17:01brought up but you want to do it anonymously and but you want us
- 1:17:05to talk. Talk about it.
- 1:17:06We won't give out who you are or where you're from, you know.
- 1:17:10We can talk amongst it about our, you know, with each other.
- 1:17:13Hey, we got a question about this.
- 1:17:17You know what your input, which your input.
- 1:17:19If you don't have a local Steward, your newer.
- 1:17:22You don't know who your area or ADR ddr's are a word quite find
- 1:17:27that information because maybe you're not getting a magazine
- 1:17:32yet. Or for some reason, you know,
- 1:17:35maybe The significant other, or the kids, or the dog tears, it
- 1:17:38apart, eats it before you get a chance to look at it.
- 1:17:41And you want to know who you can contact, you know, contact any
- 1:17:44one of us. You know, we're, we're spread
- 1:17:47out. I mean, James and iron Michigan
- 1:17:50bills and Pennsylvania Mike's in Kansas Josh's, in North
- 1:17:55Carolina, South Carolina, North Carolina, North Carolina, isn't
- 1:17:59the Carolinas, you know, Ben who periodically comes in here with
- 1:18:04questions, you know, he's out there.
- 1:18:05To and you even if you know who he is and he may not have an
- 1:18:09answer hidden come to us, you know, we can talk a mans
- 1:18:12ourselves and be like oh yeah and if one of us doesn't know
- 1:18:15somebody might or we can at least point you in that right
- 1:18:19direction on who to contact. So we're there to help you know.
- 1:18:26It doesn't matter where you are in this country.
- 1:18:29We all do the same job. Yeah we all have the same
- 1:18:33contract Yep, that is true. Yeah, we all have similar
- 1:18:41experiences, it's, you know, we're there to help you.
- 1:18:46And that's, that's this is our platform to be able to reach out
- 1:18:49to everybody because I know especially with the leave
- 1:18:54replacement shortage, not everybody can get off to go to
- 1:18:57boosters or Regional conferences or conventions and whatnot.
- 1:19:04And those of us that can go are lucky to be able to go And so,
- 1:19:09you know that's that's another way to try and get I know mid
- 1:19:14states are coming up, James myself and of course Mike will
- 1:19:19be at mid states. You know, will will report what
- 1:19:23we hear? You know, where I, I'm not going
- 1:19:26to put You know, I'm not scanning documents in and
- 1:19:32posting those. No, but I will report.
- 1:19:34Yep. We heard this.
- 1:19:36You know? That's coming.
- 1:19:37Second hands. We're we're not doing that.
- 1:19:40If there's certain information that somebody wants sharing, it
- 1:19:44privately as one thing but sharing it publicly is another
- 1:19:49What will get the information out?
- 1:19:51That's important. The carriers to know, because we
- 1:19:55don't discriminate, whether you are dues-paying or non
- 1:19:58dues-paying, you are our brother and sister We care and we're
- 1:20:04here for you guys and if that means showing them that yes
- 1:20:07there are people in the union that are active in the union
- 1:20:09that do care about you. Maybe that can change somebody's
- 1:20:14mind to join or rejoin instead of getting out knowing.
- 1:20:18Okay, there are people out there that are working for us. you
- 1:20:26know, here's one important thing about this whole situation that
- 1:20:29we do, we do this for free. Absolutely, don't get
- 1:20:34compensated for it. We're doing this for your
- 1:20:37benefit. So, you know, if we can invest
- 1:20:40this time in, you try investing a little time in yourself.
- 1:20:46Absolutely. Hello brother and sister in here
- 1:20:51in the rural carrier craft. Show them this podcast.
- 1:20:59Spread the word, let them know that they're not alone as a
- 1:21:04rural carrier. There are people out there that
- 1:21:07are willing to help and willing to reach out willing to give
- 1:21:10answers beyond that of what you just hear Through the Grapevine.
- 1:21:18And getting one side or another, you know, at least pointing you
- 1:21:23in the right direction on where to go to get those answers or
- 1:21:26point you in that direction, to get that person, I will be able
- 1:21:28to help you. And if that person isn't helping
- 1:21:32you the way they should or you should go above them or who to
- 1:21:36direct to, that we know, will be able to help you and will help
- 1:21:39you. I should say.
- 1:21:41That's, that's what we are here for.
- 1:21:43We, you know, we're not putting it, we're not going to put
- 1:21:45anybody down, we're all about. Lift enough.
- 1:21:49We're all in this together. We're all in the same fight
- 1:21:51together. And on that note, I think we're
- 1:21:55going to wind it down since Josh is back.
- 1:21:57So I'll let him go ahead with his final, commentary for the
- 1:22:01evening. Like we've said in the past,
- 1:22:07make sure you're doing what available scans are for you.
- 1:22:14As James said, honestly, you don't want to pledge your
- 1:22:17numbers. You don't want to try and
- 1:22:20attack, you know, pad your route put if you honestly have one of
- 1:22:25those scans take credit for it. If you're not familiar with
- 1:22:28them. Like it was in the past weren't,
- 1:22:32you know, freakish the cheat sheet learn you know, get
- 1:22:38proficient in two or three of them and then add another couple
- 1:22:42and that another couple until you're proficient with all of
- 1:22:45them will all tell you that we probably.
- 1:22:49There's at least one or two the we all forget about and when
- 1:22:55we're talking like all I could have been doing that like I
- 1:22:58said, earlier, I keep forgetting Nothing about the eight pieces,
- 1:23:03for hold them. Posing a postage.
- 1:23:06Dues are big one for me, you know?
- 1:23:11If you if you're getting overwhelm, take a step back,
- 1:23:16take a breath. Step back in try and have a good
- 1:23:20week. Mike.
- 1:23:22Go ahead with your finals for tonight.
- 1:23:27I think we've I just want to go back to something.
- 1:23:31We were we said earlier on all of this is speculation right now
- 1:23:35until we have the hard numbers and, which is supposed to come
- 1:23:40later this week. So, you know, II know, it's our
- 1:23:48pay. And I I've always said no one
- 1:23:51should be more concerned about your pay then you are but until
- 1:23:55Saturday, it's all just speculation.
- 1:23:58So let's stop. I won't say stop worrying but
- 1:24:01you know, there's not anything we can do about it at this
- 1:24:05point. Do the job, do the job, right?
- 1:24:10And and just know that you're doing the job right?
- 1:24:16I'm sorry I'm not very focused tonight it's okay but have a
- 1:24:20good week everyone and just and just and just carry on James,
- 1:24:28we're happy to have you with us. I hope you continue to stay with
- 1:24:34us because I will have an additional voice and, which is
- 1:24:38your final input for this evening.
- 1:24:42I appreciate you guys inviting me into this and letting me
- 1:24:46spill my guts about the thoughts.
- 1:24:48I have on this stuff. But the biggest thing I can say
- 1:24:52on this is, we're all in this together.
- 1:24:55We're all one. Ask Are All One union, dues
- 1:24:59paying or nandu Spain, you are our brother and sister in this.
- 1:25:04And yes, we're all worried about what our numbers are going to
- 1:25:07come back as but we have three things going for us on this.
- 1:25:12One of them is we're resilient. We've gone through plenty male
- 1:25:16counts where things have gone wrong.
- 1:25:19We've had plenty of grievances filed over this current system
- 1:25:22already and the proof is in the pudding that our Union Ian
- 1:25:27management as much as people hate on them, they're doing what
- 1:25:32they can with what they have available to them within the
- 1:25:35confines of the National Labor Relations Board.
- 1:25:39And the available contractual arguments they can make on it.
- 1:25:44It's very hard to sit back and say they've got this.
- 1:25:50But I'm saying they have a handle on this even though it
- 1:25:53may not look like it. That's the step 4 and the labor
- 1:25:58cars are putting on. This is very, very important.
- 1:26:04And we need to understand that these numbers, although
- 1:26:08Management's probably going to say their final are not final
- 1:26:12yet. Until we get through all of
- 1:26:15this, these numbers are not final.
- 1:26:19We have to stay calm relaxed and get through this together.
- 1:26:29And Bill. What do you got for us tonight?
- 1:26:33Oh, thank you, lations elaboration conjecture paranoia.
- 1:26:41Oh, that's my normal day. Yeah, I listen to, you know, the
- 1:26:51the comments that are here and you know what, the things on the
- 1:26:54Facebook carrier pages, I listened to the people at work
- 1:26:58and the thing that strikes me about this whole situation is
- 1:27:03that a We still can't trust the Post Office now.
- 1:27:10Well I doubt you can't trust somebody who won't give you the
- 1:27:13numbers but yet they're going to tell you 66% of the routes are
- 1:27:17going down. But will yo I'm sorry folks,
- 1:27:21There's Something Fishy, I think that you know, if most people
- 1:27:27are doing the jobs that they're supposed to do, they're doing
- 1:27:30the scams, they're doing the Dismount and they're doing
- 1:27:34everything they're supposed to. That you're going to have a
- 1:27:40maybe I would say a to two, maybe three our effect on your
- 1:27:45route. There are some routes that are
- 1:27:47going to go up because of growth, you know, but in
- 1:27:52general, I think most routes are going to go down to 23 hours and
- 1:27:56especially in my office because we are artificially inflated
- 1:27:59when the FSS was removed from our office.
- 1:28:03And it's almost like a right correction type.
- 1:28:06Ation because of the fact that we should have never went up the
- 1:28:09the hours we did when we got the fs removed from our office.
- 1:28:13But in reality folks, you know, after you get out on the street,
- 1:28:20it's the best job in the world. You know, it's up for when
- 1:28:23you're in, Michigan in snow and wet and freezing, but we're
- 1:28:28super happy without you because of the customers.
- 1:28:32Because of the kids, the dogs, I mean, It was one of the easiest
- 1:28:38job I ever had in my life until management.
- 1:28:42Tried to start managing, And it's still the best feeling in
- 1:28:46the world. When I get out there and I start
- 1:28:48delivering and I see my people and, you know, I watch my
- 1:28:53neighborhood. So, you know, I'm like a
- 1:28:55community cop for my eyebrow. And you know, when I lose the
- 1:29:01customer, it affect me. I've lost several close
- 1:29:04customers when I see babies born or, you know, a new dog in the
- 1:29:08yard or something, you know, it's still the greatest feeling
- 1:29:13in the world to have a job like this. so, With that said, don't
- 1:29:20let all of this you know just chew you up, okay?
- 1:29:25Let's ride the ride, see where it ends and hopefully, somewhere
- 1:29:33somehow somebody on the national board.
- 1:29:37Will grow enough balls to stand up and say enough is enough to
- 1:29:40step forwards, that the first time, the very first time I've
- 1:29:44seen the national board react in a timely fashion to such an
- 1:29:48obscene situation as the post office has put forth.
- 1:29:54But it's not enough. So you know with your state
- 1:29:59conventions coming up your little siesta, Fiesta local
- 1:30:04meetings and everything, get your resolutions out there.
- 1:30:10Vote for the people, you want to go to the National Convention
- 1:30:13and represent, you not just your National your state.
- 1:30:16The board people not your adrs or your area stewards or anybody
- 1:30:22else vote. For the people who are going to
- 1:30:24go and speak for you. Because every convention we go
- 1:30:29to is just like the politics in Washington, it's corrupt.
- 1:30:34And these people vote themselves into office by giving people
- 1:30:38committee positions. And paid vacations to go to
- 1:30:41national conventions, every year.
- 1:30:45If I had a choice. In this National Convention, I
- 1:30:51would eliminate 90% of the retirees.
- 1:30:55Because they have no idea and no longer represent what the rural
- 1:30:59carriers are going through. We need active, carriages, stand
- 1:31:03up. We need younger carriers to
- 1:31:05stand up and to get involved and participate in the Union.
- 1:31:11So protect yourself, protect your wallet, protect your
- 1:31:15future, and your family's future.
- 1:31:17What? You put the scanners going to go
- 1:31:19into your wallet. Other than that, folks do out
- 1:31:23there be safe. Be careful, watch out for each
- 1:31:26other help each other educate each other, correct each other.
- 1:31:31I mean, yeah, there's no problems telling carriers when
- 1:31:33they're doing something wrong. But most importantly, at the end
- 1:31:36of the day, get home because you're the most important
- 1:31:39delivery. Another that know with my
- 1:31:47finals? Yes, we are all one.
- 1:31:50I don't care if your table 1 table, 2, and RCA a PT F, or
- 1:31:56even an arc, you know, we're here for you.
- 1:31:59We're all in this together and, you know, We're reaching out to
- 1:32:06you questions, comments something.
- 1:32:10You're not sure of you know, you can reach out to us, they said
- 1:32:14multiple platforms and on that note next week we will probably
- 1:32:19talk about if we see what our new evaluations will be probably
- 1:32:24start off with that. But next week we'll definitely
- 1:32:27be diving deep into resolutions. We've got a lot of good ideas
- 1:32:30that are coming through with just the few of us on here if
- 1:32:34you have resolution. Is that you want to send to us
- 1:32:37to get them out there? Please feel free to it.
- 1:32:41I know I'm going to reach out to a few and see if I can get some
- 1:32:44more additional ideas and on that.
- 1:32:47Now everybody take care have a safe week and we'll see you back
- 1:32:51next week. And don't forget to subscribe.
- 1:32:55Yes, subscribe.
