- 12:38Speaker 3: doing for that other half.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Would you do this? I'm not so sure that would
- 12:42Speaker 2: fly in my relationship because they weren't my words, you
- 12:47Speaker 2: know what I mean, they were recommended responses. I kind
- 12:53Speaker 2: of feel like though every little bit helps.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I mean, you take that response and then you can
- 12:57Speaker 3: kind of tinkle with it a little bit.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 13:00Speaker 3: To me, if you want to, like just make a
- 13:02Speaker 3: home run with an app, make it an app where
- 13:06Speaker 3: it can help you avoid red flags.
- 13:09Speaker 2: God knows we've all seen and ignored red flags, or

- 14:09Speaker 3: Well, the Scottish football bands for FIFA. They called themselves
- 14:13Speaker 3: the Tartan Army and when they went to Boston, I
- 14:19Speaker 3: was floored by learning that they out drank Boston, which
- 14:23Speaker 3: I didn't think was possible. They ran out of beer,
- 14:26Speaker 3: their beer sales and liquor sales on on the time

- 15:23Speaker 2: on to some beer stashed to stock up now because
- 15:27Speaker 2: the Tartan Army is coming.
- 15:28Speaker 7: Well, here's here's the thing in watching them, they seem
- 15:30Speaker 7: so happy, so just peaceful and honestly, I mean, like
- 15:36Speaker 7: when how can you say no to somebody and get kilt.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's a peaceful invasion of people in kilts drinking all
- 15:43Speaker 2: the beer in Boston who are now moving their party
- 15:47Speaker 2: because they're all FIFA fans down to Miami. This should
- 15:52Speaker 2: get interesting. The Tartan Army bringing peace in our time

- 20:21Speaker 2: if you want tickets to see Salt and Pepper and
- 20:25Speaker 2: TLC Jiffy Loub live in September, be here tomorrow morning
- 20:28Speaker 2: after Top Stories at the top of the hour around
- 20:31Speaker 2: seven ten for another round of your nearly Impossible Question.
- 20:34Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash FM, coming right back
- 20:37Speaker 2: with a story that we think might just to make
- 20:39Speaker 2: your Monday. When a couple of siblings in Bowie faced loss,
- 20:45Speaker 2: they tapped into hope and found a way to turn
- 20:49Speaker 2: a horrible situation around. It's a story that we think
- 20:52Speaker 2: might just make your Monday, and it's on the way
- 20:55Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point
- 20:57Speaker 2: one wash FM and on Mondays we like to shine
- 21:01Speaker 2: a light on people who remind us that even after
- 21:04Speaker 2: some of life's hardest moments, hope still finds a way.
- 21:09Speaker 2: And believe there are two local siblings who are doing
- 21:12Speaker 2: exactly that, Raina and Cole McCarter. They lost their dad
- 21:16Speaker 2: to a drunk driver in twenty nineteen. Raina was just
- 21:19Speaker 2: nine years old, Coal seven, and they were trying to
- 21:21Speaker 2: make sense of a loss that no child should ever
- 21:25Speaker 2: have to experience, and that's when they discovered something surprising.
- 21:29Speaker 2: There weren't too many places for kids who've lost a
- 21:32Speaker 2: parent to connect with other kids who truly understand what
- 21:36Speaker 2: they're going through.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Now, as Rena got older, she began to realize that,
- 21:40Speaker 3: you know what, She's not the only one. There are
- 21:42Speaker 3: other young people that have to deal with that empty
- 21:45Speaker 3: seat at the birthday, at the graduation. It's those moments
- 21:48Speaker 3: that you just wish that your mom and dad could
- 21:51Speaker 3: be there. So instead of waiting for someone to create
- 21:54Speaker 3: a support system, she decided to build one herself.
- 21:59Speaker 2: And so last Novamber, Raina invited a small group of
- 22:01Speaker 2: teens who had also lost to parents to get together
- 22:04Speaker 2: and just talk. And what started is one gathering became
- 22:09Speaker 2: something much bigger. She launched Brave, which stands for building
- 22:14Speaker 2: Resilience after very difficult experiences. Well, what's really neat is it? Today?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Brave actually brings together children's teens who have experienced that
- 22:25Speaker 3: loss of a parent, and it gives them a safe
- 22:27Speaker 3: space where they can share stories, support each other and
- 22:30Speaker 3: just realize they're not alone. They actually just had an
- 22:34Speaker 3: event at Alan Pond and Bouie ahead of a Father's
- 22:37Speaker 3: Day weekend.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Now, what moves me about this story, and I think us, Katie,
- 22:41Speaker 2: is that Raina and Cole, they took one of the
- 22:43Speaker 2: worst things that's ever happened to them and they turned
- 22:46Speaker 2: it into a lifeline for someone else. That is courage,
- 22:50Speaker 2: that is resilience, and that's exactly why these two have
- 22:54Speaker 2: helped to make our Monday. They are very very special.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Now, if you want to learn about Rave and their mission,
- 23:01Speaker 3: we've got the information.
- 23:03Speaker 2: All you got to do is go to washfm dot

- 26:36Speaker 2: you see it over the weekend? Did you go to
- 26:38Speaker 2: see Toy Story five?
- 26:40Speaker 3: I wish I did, but I feel like everybody else
- 26:42Speaker 3: did because it was the number one movie at the
- 26:46Speaker 3: box office with the biggest opening weekend of the year.
- 26:49Speaker 2: And I can tell you now because I'm no longer
- 26:51Speaker 2: under embargo. I got to see it early at a
- 26:55Speaker 2: screening downtown at the Air and Space Museum. And the
- 26:59Speaker 2: thing of Toy Story five that resonates is that it's
- 27:04Speaker 2: a really good story. It's familiar, right, different characters step
- 27:11Speaker 2: into more of a prominent role. But they wrote a
- 27:15Speaker 2: great story that applies to parents today and kids today,
- 27:21Speaker 2: and not necessarily in that order, with a dose of
- 27:24Speaker 2: technology thrown in. So I'm curious if you went to

- 27:43Speaker 3: about it?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Did you?
- 27:44Speaker 8: Absolutely love the characters and it's got so much like
- 27:48Speaker 8: hidden adult humor that's hilarious.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I don't want to spoil it, but Conan O'Brien voices
- 27:54Speaker 2: a very unique character that helps kids know what to
- 27:59Speaker 2: do when they go into the loo, and.
- 28:01Speaker 8: You can't go wrong wrong when you have Tom Hanks
- 28:03Speaker 8: and Tim Allen as the main voices.
- 28:07Speaker 4: They're hilarious.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Totally agree.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Is there anything else about the movie that we should
- 28:12Speaker 3: look out for?
- 28:12Speaker 8: It made me think, oh, my toys used to talk
- 28:15Speaker 8: to each other when I was a kid. That's amazing,
- 28:17Speaker 8: and it's cute, it's funny, and it does it takes
- 28:19Speaker 8: me back to my Childhood.
- 28:20Speaker 3: We're currently on number five as far as sequels go.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I want to know which one did you think was
- 28:26Speaker 3: the best?
- 28:26Speaker 4: I feel like the original is probably still the best
- 28:29Speaker 4: of all, because you know, it's how you learn about
- 28:32Speaker 4: all the characters and where it all began and how
- 28:35Speaker 4: they started and how they became friends. So and you've
- 28:39Speaker 4: got the neighbor Sid who's like a villain, and you
- 28:42Speaker 4: always had that bully kid you know when we were
- 28:45Speaker 4: when we were little, So it just resonates the most
- 28:48Speaker 4: with me.

- 30:19Speaker 2: Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. It's pretty powerful stuff when
