- 0:03Speaker 1: Hey, fun fact Aircrafts is a high school baseball coach
- 0:07Speaker 1: and this is a big week for you, mister Kratz,
- 0:11Speaker 1: the culmination of everything you work for all year. So
- 0:14Speaker 1: tell the people what's going on in life. I don't
- 0:16Speaker 1: do this often, but I think it's worth pointing it
- 0:19Speaker 1: out so everyone sends good vibes your way.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah, Documented Academies where I coach. We're taking on Eden
- 0:25Speaker 2: Christian out of Pittsburgh. So it's like Philadelphia versus Pittsburgh
- 0:30Speaker 2: in the single A State PA State Championship on Friday.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Wait, I hear Mike one bad boy, I was like,
- 0:43Speaker 1: he sounds terrible.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I would definitely see this is what happens. I'm distracted.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I'm distracted by outside stuff, which the outside stuff that
- 0:52Speaker 2: you were talking about was the PIAA. The Pennsylvania State
- 0:57Speaker 2: Championship is going to be held on Friday at ten
- 1:01Speaker 2: thirty in the morning up at Happy Valley, up at
- 1:03Speaker 2: penn State. So we're taking on my school documented Nite Academy.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's taking on Eden Christian. So the boys got to
- 1:10Speaker 2: go out bang, play some play some defense, and throw
- 1:14Speaker 2: some strikes.
- 1:15Speaker 1: This and the mustache is on the line for mister
- 1:19Speaker 1: Kratz too that it's gone after Friday. It's gone.
- 1:24Speaker 2: No matter what, it's gone, no matter what. There there's
- 1:26Speaker 2: no there's it'll it'll be on the bus ride back
- 1:29Speaker 2: as we celebrate, but we'll shave it off.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Once we get back as soon as you get.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Back as soon, probably Friday night, because I'm thinking about
- 1:38Speaker 2: going to a concert Friday night, Skillet concert Friday night.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So don't need to be seen out in public with us.
- 1:44Speaker 1: That's fair and aj house life up in the vineyard, I.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Think here's good. The weather appear is kind of interesting.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I like it.
- 1:51Speaker 3: It's it says it's seventy, but then it feels chilly
- 1:54Speaker 3: if you're where the wind is blowing, and then it's
- 1:56Speaker 3: hot if you're in the sun. It's crazy. This place
- 1:59Speaker 3: is great. I never been here before. Uh, it's nice.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's peaceful. It's slow, gosh, slow life up here. Your vinyoners,
- 2:06Speaker 3: your viny r vineyard ors have a slow life up here.
- 2:10Speaker 3: But it's nice. It's it's relaxing. And if you like
- 2:13Speaker 3: American flags and you like Americana, this is the place
- 2:16Speaker 3: to go because everyone has an American flag, everyone has
- 2:18Speaker 3: something American on their front. Porch. It's like, uh, you know,
- 2:23Speaker 3: a throwback to one of those Norman Rockwell paintings. The
- 2:26Speaker 3: shingled houses, white shingled houses, and it's a pretty place
- 2:30Speaker 3: up here. They got.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'd usually go for a day or two
- 2:35Speaker 1: when I would call Kate Lee games. I had a
- 2:37Speaker 1: friend who was out there, and that was one of
- 2:41Speaker 1: my favorite spots I've ever been to, a little remote, quiet,
- 2:44Speaker 1: slow yeah, for an off day when i'd call whatever,
- 2:47Speaker 1: sixty games. This summer, you had three off days, like
- 2:50Speaker 1: that's the off day. You want good food, Americana, It's great.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So life is good right now, and that includes for
- 2:59Speaker 1: the way White Sox. Let's true.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Let's charge that.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yes, people, we are going to spend time talking about
- 3:10Speaker 1: the White Sox in multiple segments today. Let us begin
- 3:14Speaker 1: aj with your viewing experience of their thrilling walk off
- 3:18Speaker 1: win and Braden Montgomery stealing the show on his debut.
- 3:22Speaker 1: This has only happened five times in major league history,
- 3:25Speaker 1: a walk off home run in your major league debut.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Last time it happened was twenty fifteen Carlos Perez and
- 3:32Speaker 1: the time before. There's some notable names on this list.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Miguel Cabrera did it in two thousand and three, Josh
- 3:37Speaker 1: Bart in two thousand and two, Billy Parker in nineteen
- 3:40Speaker 1: seventy one, Braiden Montgomery number five, and aj this is
- 3:45Speaker 1: the last player to get called up in that Chris
- 3:48Speaker 1: not Chris, el guyor Crochet deal. And all of them
- 3:52Speaker 1: have now become big leaguers.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Yes they have, And what a trade for the White Sox.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And who the thunk we'd open the show with the
- 4:00Speaker 3: White Sox. Only two years ago they had lost the
- 4:02Speaker 3: most games in history, and since this show's basically been
- 4:05Speaker 3: on the air, the White Sox have sucked until this year.
- 4:08Speaker 3: So it's so nice to be able just to talk
- 4:09Speaker 3: about the White Sox. On the opening of the show,
- 4:11Speaker 3: they took down the Braves. Braden Montgomery. What an unbelievable moment.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I can't even imagine being in your big league debut
- 4:17Speaker 3: and hitting a walkoff homer against Ray sale Igalacias too
- 4:20Speaker 3: has been it'd only given up two runs the whole year,
- 4:22Speaker 3: and you give up a two run homer, so that
- 4:23Speaker 3: was awesome. The crowd was going crazy. The Cell I
- 4:27Speaker 3: still call it the Cell, even though it's not called
- 4:29Speaker 3: that anymore, was rocking. One of the coolest moments you
- 4:33Speaker 3: know that you could ever have as a player and
- 4:35Speaker 3: to do in your big league debut. Incredible, Listen. I
- 4:40Speaker 3: was one of the ones that questioned the get Chris
- 4:42Speaker 3: Gets hiring, not because I questioned Chris Gets, but because
- 4:46Speaker 3: I questioned not going outside the organization. Well, it took
- 4:50Speaker 3: him three years, but they've kind of started to figure
- 4:52Speaker 3: it out, and the players are starting to come up
- 4:55Speaker 3: to the big leagues in these trades, Kyle Teel Montgomery.
- 5:00Speaker 3: The list goes on and on of guys that they've
- 5:02Speaker 3: made trades for and a lot of them have worked out.
- 5:04Speaker 3: So kudos to the front office of the White Sox
- 5:06Speaker 3: were making the right trades, and kudos for these players
- 5:09Speaker 3: for playing really well. And it is a fun place
- 5:11Speaker 3: to be on the South side of Chicago. Right now,
- 5:13Speaker 3: they are the better team in Chicago and we didn't
- 5:15Speaker 3: think we'd be saying that at the beginning.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Of the year. I questioned the Chris Gets trade before
- 5:19Speaker 2: the Chris Gets signing, because what did he like? What
- 5:23Speaker 2: prospects did he help build in the He builds the
- 5:26Speaker 2: infrastructure in the minor leagues when he was down there,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and then he gets the job, and clearly he's able
- 5:32Speaker 2: to create a different structure at the top. I think
- 5:35Speaker 2: it's probably a lot of Will Venable. So many times
- 5:38Speaker 2: at this time of year, when teams are struggling, we're like, oh,
- 5:40Speaker 2: the manager and managers, it's his problem, is it? Well,
- 5:44Speaker 2: the manager has to be praised, just like Uterra has
- 5:46Speaker 2: to be praised over in Washington. But Will Venable turned
- 5:50Speaker 2: a team last year. Obviously they had to do better
- 5:53Speaker 2: than they did the year before, but you started to
- 5:56Speaker 2: see some things that you're like, Okay, is this really enough?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Even this year I was like, really enough? But Will
- 6:01Speaker 2: Venable's doing some good things. So clearly him and his
- 6:04Speaker 2: staff are doing amazing with that team and just helping
- 6:08Speaker 2: them believe because there's a lot of young guys and
- 6:12Speaker 2: to see this culmination of another young guy, another prospect
- 6:15Speaker 2: in Montgomery come up and do what he did yesterday,
- 6:18Speaker 2: Like the fact that his first big league hit was
- 6:21Speaker 2: an RBI knock through the hole was cool, and then
- 6:24Speaker 2: he kind of just flicked one the left for an
- 6:27Speaker 2: oppo dinger off the top of the wall. The best
- 6:30Speaker 2: thing that Aj said is the one thing that I
- 6:33Speaker 2: think people in Chicago need to be so excited about
- 6:36Speaker 2: the fact that the crowd was electric. They're starting to
- 6:40Speaker 2: all come out, they're all wearing black. It's like every
- 6:42Speaker 2: time you're seeing these games, it's like you could tell
- 6:46Speaker 2: the sense that it's like they don't feel like they're
- 6:48Speaker 2: out of it. The team doesn't feel like they're out
- 6:49Speaker 2: of any game, and the end, the fans don't seem
- 6:53Speaker 2: like they're out of the game, like leaving early. It's
- 6:56Speaker 2: a cool environment right now.
- 7:04Speaker 3: That's statement you've ever made.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Scott. Yeah, I was just making sure it wasn't because
- 7:08Speaker 2: I'm on two strikes for my twake. That's what I'm saying.
- 7:12Speaker 2: It was the greatest statement you ever made. But I
- 7:15Speaker 2: mean all the players in that crochet trade have made
- 7:19Speaker 2: it right. The White Sox fans people, here's the thing
- 7:22Speaker 2: about White Sox fans. You have to see, if you
- 7:23Speaker 2: put a good team on the field, the fans will
- 7:26Speaker 2: show up. But if you put a crappy team on
- 7:29Speaker 2: the field, the White Sox fans aren't going to show
- 7:31Speaker 2: up because they're not going to waste their money just
- 7:33Speaker 2: to show up to a crappy team.
- 7:35Speaker 3: So this is the classic. Now are they going to
- 7:38Speaker 3: add we'll get the chuck Garfine later Chuck Garfinkel and
- 7:41Speaker 3: we'll ask him. But this is a time when the
- 7:43Speaker 3: White Sox really need to capitalize on the fact the
- 7:45Speaker 3: American League ain't very good. Cleveland is there kind of
- 7:49Speaker 3: for the taking if you can do it. Detroit stinks
- 7:51Speaker 3: right now. So I think this is an opportunity for
- 7:53Speaker 3: the White Sox to make some noise, maybe win this
- 7:55Speaker 3: division sneakily and get into the postseason, do some damage.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Davis Martin is pitching against Chris Sale to night. It's
- 8:00Speaker 3: pretty good. Sean Burke is pretty good. I mean, they've
- 8:03Speaker 3: got some pieces here, and they've got an opportunity to
- 8:06Speaker 3: maybe take this division a little bit and get into
- 8:08Speaker 3: the postseason and have a chance, just because the American
- 8:11Speaker 3: League we've talked about it ain't that great this year.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Hey, shout out to Sea Geek hooking us up with
- 8:22Speaker 1: tickets tonight to with a code to figure out where
- 8:26Speaker 1: we want to go. All right, I'll start this one
- 8:28Speaker 1: off show. Hey, Otani's pitching in Pittsburgh, one day off
- 8:31Speaker 1: of the Otani Skians matchup. But still we get to
- 8:34Speaker 1: see what he's doing. Why are you shaking your head?
- 8:37Speaker 3: It's not the best matchup to it.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I didn't say it was the best matchup. I try
- 8:41Speaker 1: to leave you the best matchup. What's the best matchup?
- 8:44Speaker 3: I mean Sale vers Davis Martin in Chicago? Are you
- 8:46Speaker 3: kidding me? Sale comes back to Chicago where he started it.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Davis Martin has been really good, should be on the
- 8:50Speaker 3: All Star team. They've both been really good. So I think,
- 8:54Speaker 3: to me, that's the one I would want to go
- 8:55Speaker 3: see in the in the in south on the South Side.
- 8:59Speaker 3: This good place is going to be tonight, especially after
- 9:01Speaker 3: last night. They're feeling it there in the South Side.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I'm not going to the Sphere. I'm not going to
- 9:07Speaker 2: the Belagio. I'm going into whatever the heck Las Vegas's
- 9:11Speaker 2: Park is called because they got fireworks mid game, postgame,
- 9:15Speaker 2: all game. I want to see how many runs get
- 9:18Speaker 2: put up in that game. I mean, it's it's s
- 9:20Speaker 2: Broke versus I saw it? Who Perkins? Perkins? Yes, as
- 9:29Speaker 2: a ticket.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Runs will be scored six e rs for both sides.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And did you see the Did you see the home
- 9:36Speaker 3: run that Churio hit yesterday? Flicked it clicked ass out
- 9:42Speaker 3: ass out right field.
- 9:44Speaker 2: It wasn't me, it wasn't just over the wall. It
- 9:46Speaker 2: hit the back of the bullpen.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that place is unbelievable. I want to go hit there.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I was.
- 9:52Speaker 3: That's all PCL days right there.
- 9:54Speaker 2: That is PCL for days.
- 9:56Speaker 1: But that's why I asked you guys yesterday if you
- 9:59Speaker 1: feel like anyone's to do something differently, right, like if
- 10:03Speaker 1: you're one of those strong dudes. Nope, they're not always
- 10:08Speaker 1: squaring it up.
- 10:10Speaker 3: But I'm saying they're just it wasn't squared up. That
- 10:13Speaker 3: ball was a fly ball, the one and uh who
- 10:16Speaker 3: hit the one to write the night before? Uh? Yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 3: I mean that was another one where he's like boop,
- 10:22Speaker 3: I don't know. That's that might be the highest over
- 10:24Speaker 3: under I've ever seen. Fourteen and a half by the way,
- 10:27Speaker 3: it's way it was higher than Course Field, which is
- 10:29Speaker 3: at twelve.
- 10:30Speaker 2: It was in It was the one in England got
- 10:34Speaker 2: to fifteen after like the first game or the first
- 10:37Speaker 2: two games. It was. It was that's that and a
- 10:41Speaker 2: half could move? Did you I went to that park.
- 10:44Speaker 2: It didn't seem that big, But I don't know.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Well, wherever you want to go, the code is Territory
- 10:51Speaker 1: one zero. It's ten percent off MLB t tickets on
- 10:54Speaker 1: sea geek. It's then a number one rated ticketing app
- 10:57Speaker 1: over thirty five million downloads. Official MLB marketplace for tickets.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Go check it out.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Hey, do you think this team, if they make a move,
- 11:07Speaker 2: hurts their future, because that's what that's what you're gonna hear. No,
- 11:10Speaker 2: do you think it no hurt? Why?
- 11:13Speaker 3: I mean, they have options, that's the thing, right, So
- 11:15Speaker 3: they have we'll just use the catcher. They have Kiro,
- 11:18Speaker 3: they have TiO who hasn't even played this year, who's
- 11:20Speaker 3: supposed to be the starter. They have Romo right, they
- 11:23Speaker 3: have Corey Lee down on Triple A. I know's he's
- 11:25Speaker 3: supposed toly raking in Triple A. But they have all
- 11:27Speaker 3: these pieces. When Mark Commy comes back, what comes to
- 11:29Speaker 3: Jacob Gonzalez? Do you trade him? Do you try to
- 11:32Speaker 3: trade someone else? I mean, they have options for the
- 11:34Speaker 3: first time in a long time, where the where the
- 11:37Speaker 3: White Sox in the past were like, man, we just
- 11:39Speaker 3: need to get as many good players in here as possible. Now,
- 11:41Speaker 3: do I think they need to go get some more pitching?
- 11:43Speaker 3: Of course they do. But at least they're exciting to watch.
- 11:47Speaker 3: The fans are energized, and it's just fun to go
- 11:50Speaker 3: to the ballpark there for the first time in a
- 11:51Speaker 3: long time.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And on the other side, they didn't just beat the Braves.
- 11:58Speaker 1: The Braves that it really tough loss. Ronald Lacuna Junior
- 12:02Speaker 1: left again. The left hamstring is barking tightness. They're gonna
- 12:07Speaker 1: get it checked out. You know, he talked about how
- 12:09Speaker 1: pissed off he is and he missed some time, you know,
- 12:13Speaker 1: not long ago with a hamstring strain. They've got to
- 12:16Speaker 1: figure this out. Aj. I know they won a World
- 12:19Speaker 1: Series without him, but it's helpful to have him.
- 12:23Speaker 3: For it is. I mean, he's always hurt. You can't
- 12:26Speaker 3: count on him. You can't count you can't count on
- 12:28Speaker 3: Ronald Couone. As much as I hate to say that,
- 12:30Speaker 3: he's a great player when he's out there, but you
- 12:32Speaker 3: can't count on him because he's had both knees. Now
- 12:35Speaker 3: it's a hamstring. It's this, it's that it's always something
- 12:37Speaker 3: with him. And look, it sucks because he could be
- 12:40Speaker 3: one of the greatest players we have in this game,
- 12:42Speaker 3: but it seems like there's always something with him.
- 12:46Speaker 2: One of those things where young guys, young guys come
- 12:49Speaker 2: to the big leagues with so much talent and I'll
- 12:52Speaker 2: always go back to it and we'll see what happens.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Juan Soto, Ronald Lecunya, who would you have taken from
- 12:57Speaker 2: the beginning of their career to them have the big
- 13:01Speaker 2: the best career and it's all going to be hinged
- 13:04Speaker 2: on health. They play a different type of game. Man
- 13:09Speaker 2: Soto can steal some bases now like there's it's it's
- 13:12Speaker 2: availability is the best ability And unfortunately, hopefully Ronald can
- 13:16Speaker 2: learn the things that Mike Trout's learning about trying to
- 13:19Speaker 2: stay healthy about Chris Sale was learning about trying to
- 13:24Speaker 2: stay healthy. All completely different players, but having success and
- 13:28Speaker 2: staying healthy are two things. They're still really good players.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Ronald is not a bad player because he gets hurt.
- 13:35Speaker 2: It's just different. If you can't be on the field,
- 13:37Speaker 2: you can't put up the historic numbers that we think
- 13:39Speaker 2: he could.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and this isn't like him running into a wall.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I mean we don't condone that either, But it's soft
- 13:46Speaker 1: tissue injuries popping up. So you know, the hamstring's the
- 13:50Speaker 1: theme this year, he said, the knees in the past, Yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 1: it sucks, and.
- 13:57Speaker 3: I mean the knees are for me, The knees are
- 14:00Speaker 3: that's those are like freak things where he you know,
- 14:02Speaker 3: like the soft tissues, where I start getting worried that
- 14:06Speaker 3: things in their body are breaking down. Because Mike trout
- 14:08Speaker 3: Right had soft tissue. That's when guys start breaking down,
- 14:11Speaker 3: when you start getting hamstrings and backs and calves and
- 14:14Speaker 3: all these different string I don't want to say strange injuries,
- 14:17Speaker 3: but just injuries of the soft tissue where you would
- 14:20Speaker 3: think they'd be preventable. But we've also seen I don't know,
- 14:23Speaker 3: maybe I'm wrong in this, but I feel like maybe
- 14:25Speaker 3: I'm paying attention more a lot more hamstrings, a lot
- 14:28Speaker 3: more pulled muscles than I remember in the past. So
- 14:32Speaker 3: I could be way off on that. I don't know,
- 14:34Speaker 3: but it just seems like guys are having a hard time.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I mean, we just mentioned Kyle t over the White Sox.
- 14:38Speaker 3: He pulled his hamstring at the WBC. Hasn't played all year.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Yeah that one mid June. Yeah that one. That one
- 14:46Speaker 3: looked better. Maybe it was worse than we really thought.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But if you guys remember back when Manny Machado first
- 14:50Speaker 2: came up, many Machado was a stud prospect. His knees,
- 14:55Speaker 2: he had something I don't remember if it was both knees,
- 14:58Speaker 2: but like they were wor worried that he wouldn't be
- 15:01Speaker 2: able to stay healthy because his knees had like something
- 15:04Speaker 2: about the angle of his knees, and he heard it
- 15:06Speaker 2: the one time round in first that dude stays on
- 15:09Speaker 2: the field all the time. There is a ability to
- 15:14Speaker 2: being able to stay on the field and knowing what
- 15:16Speaker 2: that looks like, and Manny's ability to be out there
- 15:19Speaker 2: helps him to continue to accumulate really big numbers throughout
- 15:24Speaker 2: his career. Here.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember there were two sides of the coinback then.
- 15:30Speaker 1: One was, uh, knees at twenty one or whatever he was.
- 15:34Speaker 1: The other side was if he's getting the knee surgery
- 15:38Speaker 1: at that age. It's usually easier to recover at that
- 15:42Speaker 1: age and overcome that as long as it's not something
- 15:44Speaker 1: chronic that keeps popping up. I know it's well documented
- 15:48Speaker 1: what Carlos Korea has gone through with his ankles. This
- 15:50Speaker 1: was not that, and Manny has been one of the
- 15:53Speaker 1: most durable players. Ronaldconney Junior certainly has not. The Braves
- 15:57Speaker 1: fortunately are in a spot where they are any playoff position.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I would be the world would be shocked if they
- 16:05Speaker 1: fall out of one they just have to maintain and
- 16:08Speaker 1: manage also when he's out right, because I know I
- 16:11Speaker 1: mean Akunya for as heard as he's been guys, he
- 16:15Speaker 1: loves to play, like he'll play. He'll try to push
- 16:17Speaker 1: to play in the Winter League. I think last time
- 16:19Speaker 1: they felt like he came back a little bit too quickly,
- 16:22Speaker 1: so they made him wait a little bit longer to
- 16:25Speaker 1: recover from the knee surgery and all that. You know,
- 16:28Speaker 1: so they are balancing you know, his happiness and his
- 16:31Speaker 1: desire to play. That's a good thing, that's what you want.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's not like that, yeah, I mean, speaking of the
- 16:36Speaker 1: White Sox aj it felt like there were a lot
- 16:38Speaker 1: of guys that were just not really getting back as
- 16:41Speaker 1: quickly as you wanted them to from injuries. That's not
- 16:43Speaker 1: a Kunya. They have to put the brakes on him.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yeah, he wants to play, but still you got to
- 16:48Speaker 3: be able to play. You got to be able to
- 16:50Speaker 3: stay healthy and play. And I think it's also we
- 16:53Speaker 3: talked about I think we talked about this yesterday with
- 16:55Speaker 3: guys in or two days yesterday of two days to
- 16:57Speaker 3: go out, I forget. We talked about certain teams that
- 17:00Speaker 3: have more injuries than others. Well, the thing for me
- 17:03Speaker 3: that about that is also players need to learn how
- 17:06Speaker 3: to play and manage Sometimes you can play at seventy
- 17:09Speaker 3: five percent and get through it instead of oh, man,
- 17:14Speaker 3: I need to go on the il because I'm a
- 17:16Speaker 3: little bit sore. And I think that's one of the
- 17:18Speaker 3: things that also isn't taught when we talk about this
- 17:21Speaker 3: is yes, it's cool that guys get more time to
- 17:24Speaker 3: get better, but also there are times where you're going
- 17:26Speaker 3: to have to play a little bit sore, a little
- 17:28Speaker 3: bit injured, and you have to learn how to manage that.
- 17:30Speaker 3: But again, in the minor leagues, when you're not given
- 17:33Speaker 3: that opportunity and you get two days off a week,
- 17:35Speaker 3: and you get a DH time a week and you
- 17:38Speaker 3: get all this, then you're not able to figure out
- 17:40Speaker 3: how to play with a little bit hurt. Now teams
- 17:42Speaker 3: are more they just want to almost put you on
- 17:44Speaker 3: the I Oh you're a little bit so we'll put
- 17:45Speaker 3: you on the aisle for ten days. We'll see in
- 17:46Speaker 3: ten days. And it's not a pride thing. It's not
- 17:49Speaker 3: a thing where man I stayed on the field. It's like, ah,
- 17:51Speaker 3: you're fine, we'll see in ten days.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I saw Ronald Lacuna's dad at the All Star Game
- 17:58Speaker 2: when we were in Atlanta last and ron and I,
- 18:02Speaker 2: Ronald Senior and I played together, and he was like,
- 18:06Speaker 2: oh man, everyone's so mad about him playing winter ball.
- 18:09Speaker 2: He doesn't lift a lot. Ronald's like, you know what,
- 18:11Speaker 2: the way he gets in shape is by playing baseball.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So there's different ways to get in shape, and then
- 18:17Speaker 2: there's different ways to keep guys healthy. And like what
- 18:20Speaker 2: AJ said, like there is something too not going on
- 18:24Speaker 2: the IL, but it's also like a process. It's not
- 18:27Speaker 2: just AJ didn't go on the IL because well, he
- 18:30Speaker 2: just showed up and he didn't get hurt. Like everybody
- 18:33Speaker 2: that everybody that I talked to that played with AJ said,
- 18:37Speaker 2: this guy catches every single day and he's lifting legs
- 18:42Speaker 2: almost every single day. He's in the gym doing something.
- 18:45Speaker 2: So as Ronald continues to mature and get older, there's
- 18:49Speaker 2: ways to stay healthy that he has to learn. But
- 18:52Speaker 2: it'll be different because his way of getting ready is
- 18:55Speaker 2: different than then Olsen's way of getting ready, which is
- 18:58Speaker 2: different than Albi's way of getting ready. Everybody does it differently,
- 19:02Speaker 2: but the goal is to stay on the field.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and some guys most guys evolve that over time
- 19:08Speaker 1: to fit their body as they learn it. So we'll
- 19:11Speaker 1: see what happens with Ronald and we'll let you know
- 19:14Speaker 1: when we get the news.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Diet. There's one thing about what Krasher said about not lifting.
- 19:18Speaker 3: You don't have to lift heavy, or you don't have
- 19:20Speaker 3: to work out or whatever, but you got to do
- 19:23Speaker 3: something you just can't. You got to do something to
- 19:25Speaker 3: wake your body up. You got to do something to
- 19:27Speaker 3: get your body ready every day. Whether it's getting up
- 19:30Speaker 3: and going for a walk, or whether it's going to
- 19:31Speaker 3: the gym, or whether it's riding a bike, or whether
- 19:34Speaker 3: it's doing yoga or plate whatever you have to do.
- 19:36Speaker 3: But you got to wake your body up at some point,
- 19:39Speaker 3: and you got to get into a routine. Whether that
- 19:41Speaker 3: involves lifting weights. And I'm not saying everyone has to
- 19:43Speaker 3: lift weights, but even if it's going in there and
- 19:45Speaker 3: doing five pounds and just whatever, just to get your
- 19:48Speaker 3: body flowing, you got to do something. You got to
- 19:51Speaker 3: take care of your body.
- 19:53Speaker 1: We've got some updates while we've been on so here's
- 19:56Speaker 1: one on the Phillies. Johann Rojas, who had been banging
- 20:00Speaker 1: for the Juicy Juice, is now going to be done
- 20:02Speaker 1: for the rest of the year owner collateral ligament terror,
- 20:07Speaker 1: so it's the good old Tommy John or in this case,
- 20:11Speaker 1: it's the looks like the brace procedure that's been pretty popular,
- 20:15Speaker 1: the internal brace that's going on. So that'll knock him
- 20:17Speaker 1: out for the rest of the year. So first half
- 20:19Speaker 1: of the year juicy juice peds, second half of the
- 20:22Speaker 1: year tough injury man. That guy's a good defender out
- 20:25Speaker 1: there and never much bat yet in his career. But
- 20:30Speaker 1: you know, some outfield depths I don't want to say,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I mean, I don't want to say. It doesn't mean anything,
- 20:34Speaker 1: but Kratz of the Phillies need outfielders that can.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Hit, yeah, for sure, And he wouldn't have been eligible
- 20:39Speaker 2: for the playoffs anyway, so if they had come up
- 20:42Speaker 2: with some kind of like defensive platoon of some kind, no,
- 20:46Speaker 2: they they need somebody that can hit. Brandon marsh he's
- 20:49Speaker 2: earned his left handed at bats, and I think that's
- 20:52Speaker 2: why he's hitting as well as he is because he's
- 20:54Speaker 2: getting everyday. AB's Crawford's still learning the big leagues. He
- 21:00Speaker 2: and the Dolies isn't hitting at all, but he's giving
- 21:02Speaker 2: them good defense. So there's value in there. But if
- 21:05Speaker 2: they could, like I said yesterday to me, I think
- 21:07Speaker 2: that Byron Buxton thing. There's a lot of teams that
- 21:10Speaker 2: could have success, but there's very few teams that have
- 21:13Speaker 2: a Dombrowski. Who's gonna say, what will it take? I'll
- 21:17Speaker 2: give them everybody.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Sometimes you need that to push the chips in. Sometimes
- 21:24Speaker 1: you do one other note we just learned aj Acuna
- 21:30Speaker 1: is on the I L with the hamstring.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Yep Lukhu's text to me.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Rowdy Rowdy Rowdy ironically, ironically the manager for Trey Mancini
- 21:43Speaker 2: dun Davis Rowdy. It's married to Dougs daughter. Wow wow us.
- 21:55Speaker 3: She must be special.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Oh she has to either be special or to be
- 22:00Speaker 2: married to Rowdy.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Rowdy. I didn't say it. I just said you has
- 22:05Speaker 3: to be special.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I heard, I heard blessed, blessed.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Rowdy Rowdy was texting me and he said he asked
- 22:13Speaker 3: for my number, but they said they retired it. And
- 22:14Speaker 3: I said, well, they also have a statue in me Rowdy,
- 22:16Speaker 3: so you know you'll get to see it on a
- 22:18Speaker 3: daily basis.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Epic epic Rowdy in Atlanta.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Good luck, good luck being, good luck being Matt Olson's
- 22:27Speaker 2: caddy just.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Saying he does not take days off. He had a
- 22:33Speaker 1: good game yesterday. By the way, a couple dangers perfect though.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Ale Central chatters shall we first off, Evan Woodberry, who
- 22:42Speaker 1: covers the team, said Jack Flaherty's ALE ranking since May
- 22:45Speaker 1: sixth among forty five qualified starting pitchers, first in ker nine,
- 22:50Speaker 1: third in a number of categories K percentage, kate A
- 22:52Speaker 1: walk percentage, f war fit sierra, all of your favorites,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and then forty fifth in babbit left on base percentage,
- 23:00Speaker 1: hard hit percentage. So that's good. It means there's good
- 23:04Speaker 1: process there. Can you get the results?
- 23:07Speaker 3: We shall see, Well, he needs to figure it out.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Stuff's working. Yeah, this stuff is working according to the
- 23:13Speaker 1: strikeouts in the walks, but then when the ball is
- 23:15Speaker 1: put in play, it is creating offense for the other side,
- 23:21Speaker 1: whether it's bad defense or timely hitting or whatever. It is.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Harder contact right was not really listed on there. So
- 23:29Speaker 1: there are some things to keep in mind with Flherty.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Let's get to the good news. Trek Scougle sounds like
- 23:35Speaker 1: he's going to be back any day now. Cody Stevenagan
- 23:40Speaker 1: yesterday said he's going to throw a bullpen tomorrow. That
- 23:43Speaker 1: was yesterday, so that's today. He should throw a bullpen today.
- 23:45Speaker 1: They're going to see how it goes before any official word,
- 23:48Speaker 1: but it could be a return against the Guardians in
- 23:50Speaker 1: that series, and Schoogle said, I expect everything to go
- 23:53Speaker 1: well tomorrow and hopefully I'm back. I mean, he looks
- 23:55Speaker 1: like he's ready.
- 23:57Speaker 3: It's a big thing. I mean, listen, here's the deal.
- 24:00Speaker 3: They're so far out of it right now though, I
- 24:02Speaker 3: mean it's scary. Again, we talked about this. They are
- 24:05Speaker 3: far out of it. They are far out of the
- 24:06Speaker 3: race or far and they need Jack Flaerty, they need
- 24:09Speaker 3: from Rivaldez, they need everybody to do a lot of
- 24:12Speaker 3: things right. And yes, getting care Scooble back will help,
- 24:16Speaker 3: but they also they don't they haven't really swung the
- 24:18Speaker 3: bats very well either.
- 24:22Speaker 2: My dom Bella would do anything for a treat, and
- 24:25Speaker 2: I want to give her a treat that will take
- 24:27Speaker 2: care of her long term.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And a quick message from today's sponsor, the ASPCA Pet

- 25:17Speaker 1: is not engaged in the business of insurance. Good series
- 25:27Speaker 1: going on between the Blue Jays and the Phillies, So
- 25:30Speaker 1: this was fun. Aj Vladdie Junior pushed to lead off.
- 25:33Speaker 1: They go as he goes. They want to get him going.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Where's the power for Vladdie? It'll come eventually, or so
- 25:38Speaker 1: we think. He had his moments last year too, and
- 25:41Speaker 1: then he was stupid good in the playoffs, but the
- 25:44Speaker 1: star was Brandon Venezuela. Or did I just say that wrong. Valenzuela. Sorry,
- 25:50Speaker 1: I see the country. Brandon Valenzuela. He's been awesome though,
- 25:53Speaker 1: I mean he's been great on defense. He's been an
- 25:56Speaker 1: impact bat while Alejandro Kirks and out, I mean, aj
- 26:01Speaker 1: they haven't skipped a beat from the catcher position he's
- 26:04Speaker 1: putting up. Kirk does.
- 26:06Speaker 3: He was a big prospect too, if you remember, and
- 26:08Speaker 3: then they signed Kirk to the extension and everyone was like, Oh,
- 26:12Speaker 3: what's Valinzuela gonna do? And then Kirk goes down and
- 26:14Speaker 3: he stepped up and done a nice job. Especially defensively,
- 26:17Speaker 3: they haven't you know, you mentioned it, But offensively, I
- 26:18Speaker 3: think that's been a little bit of a surprise. I listen,
- 26:23Speaker 3: the real question is what happens when alee Janndra Kirk
- 26:25Speaker 3: comes back shortly? What do they do with Vealenzuela. Do
- 26:28Speaker 3: they send him a triple A, do they try to
- 26:30Speaker 3: trade him? What do they do with them? Because they
- 26:31Speaker 3: have Kirk locked up for a long time, so it's
- 26:35Speaker 3: an enviable position when you have multiple catchers that can
- 26:38Speaker 3: do special things on your team, because most teams are
- 26:40Speaker 3: trying to find one catcher, but when you have two
- 26:42Speaker 3: that can be good. That's a big deal in Vladdie.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on about it. He's got
- 26:46Speaker 3: no pop krats. What the heck's going on in Toronto?
- 26:49Speaker 3: Did Bow take his pop with them to New York?
- 26:50Speaker 2: What the heck that he goes through those stretches though,
- 26:54Speaker 2: because he's got such a steep attack angle where he
- 26:57Speaker 2: will hit those absolute two iron scuds to left center.
- 27:02Speaker 2: To me, I think Vladdie will be the easiest of
- 27:06Speaker 2: these two issues. Vladdie will get hot sometimes it's a
- 27:11Speaker 2: matter of okay, is he you know, is he making
- 27:13Speaker 2: good swing decisions? When that walk to strikeout gets a
- 27:18Speaker 2: little bit better for him, he's good to me. I
- 27:22Speaker 2: think he can do more damage when other guys around
- 27:24Speaker 2: him are doing more damage if he has a little
- 27:26Speaker 2: more protection. I don't hate the leadoff position for him.
- 27:30Speaker 2: You only hit lead off one time, and you have
- 27:32Speaker 2: other guys behind you in the order, and now you're
- 27:35Speaker 2: having an opportunity to get him some stakes. So yes,
- 27:39Speaker 2: his powers down. It's almost like it feels like if
- 27:42Speaker 2: he wants to hit forty homers, he'll have a season
- 27:44Speaker 2: where I'll hit forty homers. I don't I'm not saying
- 27:46Speaker 2: he doesn't want to right now, but as far as
- 27:49Speaker 2: the catching position, this is what a lot of teams
- 27:50Speaker 2: are paying for. And so the Blue Jays will have
- 27:54Speaker 2: to make a decision. Do they send Tyler Heinemann out
- 27:57Speaker 2: and then they don't have a true third backup in
- 28:02Speaker 2: the organization because he'll probably get claimed, or do you
- 28:05Speaker 2: send Vealezuela down, which is unfair to him because he's
- 28:09Speaker 2: been one of their better hitters in Kirk. I think
- 28:11Speaker 2: he'll be back by Friday.
- 28:13Speaker 3: By the way, Vlatti has three homers three three. We
- 28:17Speaker 3: talk about Tatis and his one. Vlatti has three homers
- 28:20Speaker 3: on the year. We're we're he's got almost three hundred
- 28:23Speaker 3: at bats at this point, like we're we're getting into
- 28:25Speaker 3: territory like Tatis stuff. Where the heck did the power go?
- 28:30Speaker 3: And I don't know, I don't know where it went.
- 28:32Speaker 3: And also, you know, we're talking Blue Jays here, we're
- 28:34Speaker 3: talking Laddie. I want to look at the look at
- 28:37Speaker 3: the Phillies a little bit too. I mean, I know,
- 28:39Speaker 3: Schwarber's Schwarber's the guy, and Marsh's off to a great
- 28:43Speaker 3: star and Harper's doing what Harper's done. But after that,
- 28:47Speaker 3: I mean, Turner six twenty two ops two twenty six.
- 28:50Speaker 3: He's in JT real mutto. Don't even look at his numbers.
- 28:53Speaker 3: I know he was hurt, but still a doolie scarcia oof.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I mean, it's what we've talked about with the Phillies.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Can they get this lineup turned around? I mean, it's interesting.
- 29:02Speaker 3: These are two teams that we expect to We all
- 29:04Speaker 3: expected coming into the year to be deep playoff contenders,
- 29:09Speaker 3: and both these lineups are You're like, wow, okay.
- 29:14Speaker 2: You would expect it from the Blue Jays lineup in
- 29:16Speaker 2: the sense that, ah, you know what, they just have
- 29:18Speaker 2: to get hot, they have to they make contact. Blah
- 29:20Speaker 2: blah blah. The Phillies last night Dylan Cees. While Dylan
- 29:25Speaker 2: Ceese is clearly one of the better pitchers in the game,
- 29:28Speaker 2: the fact that they swung and missed twenty nine times
- 29:32Speaker 2: against Dylan Ceese is a crazy, crazy number. Right off
- 29:37Speaker 2: the right off the IL too. And again, maybe it's
- 29:40Speaker 2: not a catastrophic injuries coming back from but right off
- 29:43Speaker 2: the IL and it was swinging miss central and they
- 29:47Speaker 2: weren't great swings. J. T Romuto looks looks like something
- 29:51Speaker 2: is bugging him because there's a lot of inconsistent swings,
- 29:56Speaker 2: like like just like a slider off the plate that
- 29:59Speaker 2: he's not that he's trying to kind of flick at.
- 30:01Speaker 2: So who knows what's going on there. But the lineup
- 30:05Speaker 2: needs to turn it around because this pitching staff cannot
- 30:08Speaker 2: carry them the way they have been, especially considering that
- 30:11Speaker 2: two out of the five times Nola's we'll see and
- 30:15Speaker 2: Painter's been a nothing for them. So yes, their pitching
- 30:18Speaker 2: stat's been good, but this lineup was built to bang,
- 30:21Speaker 2: and it's paid to bang, and they need to start
- 30:23Speaker 2: doing it.
- 30:25Speaker 1: That was twenty nine whiffs off of fifty swings.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Fifty nasty, no.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Doubt, no doubt, but this was like his nastiest in
- 30:37Speaker 1: terms of getting the whiffs. Fifty eight percent of swings
- 30:41Speaker 1: or a swing and miss. I mean, that is a
- 30:43Speaker 1: nuts number in our sport.
- 30:46Speaker 2: The most in a game all season was thirty, The
- 30:50Speaker 2: most in a game all season was thirty, and they
- 30:52Speaker 2: got twenty nine in his six.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Six in six innings. Eleven punchies six innings.
- 31:00Speaker 2: But how do you, I mean, Aja, you didn't strike
- 31:03Speaker 2: out much. How do you tell a whole lineup guys
- 31:06Speaker 2: make more contact? Guys don't like. That's like saying, guys,
- 31:10Speaker 2: you need to walk more, Well, how do I walk? Do?
- 31:11Speaker 2: I just like take pitches? Do I take? Like it's
- 31:15Speaker 2: something that has to be has to be addressed for
- 31:18Speaker 2: this team to make the run that I think they'll
- 31:20Speaker 2: make a playoff run. But if they want to win,
- 31:23Speaker 2: they gotta they gotta be able to make the adjustments
- 31:27Speaker 2: that I thought, like a year and a half ago
- 31:29Speaker 2: they had started to make those adjustments and then the
- 31:32Speaker 2: power started going down a little bit. But now if
- 31:34Speaker 2: the power is down as a team and the strikeouts
- 31:37Speaker 2: go back up, yeesh oh.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Here's my thing. I like both teams. I think they're
- 31:45Speaker 1: both playoff teams. I like the bones of what both
- 31:47Speaker 1: teams have. I think that Flatty will find pop. I
- 31:51Speaker 1: think Flatty will be different in the playoffs. Of course,
- 31:53Speaker 1: you've got to get there. It's not gonna be an
- 31:55Speaker 1: easy path for Toronto. I think both teams will add
- 31:57Speaker 1: it the deadline. We also didn't mention Duran, who finally
- 32:01Speaker 1: had a blown save here for the Phillies. But he's
- 32:03Speaker 1: been money for them, So I like.
- 32:06Speaker 3: How Alvarado get hit. Well, he's got a five and
- 32:08Speaker 3: a half Yearay How the heck does he get hit
- 32:10Speaker 3: every time out.
- 32:11Speaker 2: By lefties too? His numbers versus lefties are crazy. I
- 32:16Speaker 2: feel like he.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Has one hundred with a sinker and a cutter. You
- 32:20Speaker 3: should dominate left just sinking in on lefties because lefties
- 32:23Speaker 3: can't hit that. Zach Britton did that for years.
- 32:26Speaker 2: You can swings. The swings that dudes are taking are
- 32:30Speaker 2: like they know what's coming, you know, when a dude
- 32:32Speaker 2: is balanced in the box against left handed sinkers and
- 32:37Speaker 2: they just they square it up. I mean square it
- 32:39Speaker 2: up hard. It's been hard contact. I'm I really wonder
- 32:43Speaker 2: what is going on because he's not like a lefty specialist.
- 32:46Speaker 2: He's a bona fide seventh eighth inning guy that can
- 32:49Speaker 2: get both guys out. But right now he is a
- 32:53Speaker 2: reverse split. If he's anything, he's a reverse split. And
- 32:56Speaker 2: the swings that lefties are taking are not good. I
- 32:59Speaker 2: mean are are really good, but not good for Alvarado.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe he's tipping. There's a lot of tipping go on.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Just the lefties, just lefties though.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Hey, when you face a lefty, you lick your lips, Hey, you.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Is is his pitch usage? The same lefties and righties.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Doesn't matter.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Throw one hundred sink should get most people out.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I agree. Maybe there's a pitch he's using often and
- 33:33Speaker 1: there on, and they know he's using it on a
- 33:36Speaker 1: tip and it's more to lefties. That's all. I'm just
- 33:39Speaker 1: trying to come up with random reasons why he's suddenly
- 33:43Speaker 1: getting hit, you know. I mean the problem with him
- 33:46Speaker 1: was not finding the zone early on in his career,
- 33:49Speaker 1: and then at some point some genius said, hey, dude,
- 33:52Speaker 1: aim down the middle. It'll move.
- 33:54Speaker 2: The rays did that. I was there with him with
- 33:56Speaker 2: the rays. They did that. He didn't know which pitch
- 33:59Speaker 2: was gonna throw. You would call, you would I called
- 34:02Speaker 2: four straight fastballs, and all of them moved a different direction.
- 34:06Speaker 2: One cut, one sank, one was a true four seamer,
- 34:09Speaker 2: and one acted like a splitter. So I think since
- 34:13Speaker 2: he's gone to the Phillies from the Rays, they've they've
- 34:17Speaker 2: zoned that in. You just shouldn't see the swings that
- 34:21Speaker 2: guys take off of a lefty. I mean, is his
- 34:26Speaker 2: percentage wise he's throwing, Yeah, I mean he's throwing very
- 34:32Speaker 2: similar percentages, more cutters to rieties, more cutters.
- 34:38Speaker 1: But not like a huge gap in Okay, No, Well,
- 34:43Speaker 1: and we truck on and we don't know why it's happening,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but it's happening. Support for today's episode comes from Square,

- 35:58Speaker 1: You pick an area of the zone you take us.
- 36:00Speaker 1: If that swing produces a hit, you can get yourself
- 36:02Speaker 1: a prize. Gambling problem or concern, there's help called one
- 36:06Speaker 1: eight hundred gambler. Hey Will Smith is still limited by
- 36:09Speaker 1: a stiff neck. Dave Roberts said, I l as possibility
- 36:12Speaker 1: if there's an improvement, and this is tying right into
- 36:15Speaker 1: what we were just talking about. AJ helps to have
- 36:18Speaker 1: a good backup catcher like the Dodgers do, and it's
- 36:22Speaker 1: going to be the same case here with Toronto. And
- 36:24Speaker 1: maybe Toronto also eases Alejandro Kirk back into the situation.
- 36:28Speaker 1: But that's what the Dodgers do, right. Will Smith had
- 36:31Speaker 1: his moments where he was fading down the stretch and
- 36:33Speaker 1: then into the playoffs, and the Dodgers were able to
- 36:35Speaker 1: solve that last year.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Yeah, dn Rushing time, maybe we'll see. Will Smith is
- 36:40Speaker 3: still really good. But Daln Rushing has proved he can
- 36:42Speaker 3: play at this level. Here's his chance. And you never
- 36:45Speaker 3: want to see anyone get injured. Will Smith is a
- 36:47Speaker 3: good dude and a great player, so you know, hopefully
- 36:50Speaker 3: he doesn't go on the io very long. But it's
- 36:52Speaker 3: one of those things. Man. We've talked about it on
- 36:55Speaker 3: here all the time. One of the biggest things about
- 36:57Speaker 3: getting injured is there's always someone that's there to take
- 36:59Speaker 3: your place, and the game goes on without you. That's
- 37:01Speaker 3: why it's so important to be on the field. So
- 37:04Speaker 3: you always wanted to be on the field because I
- 37:05Speaker 3: don't want You have to remember Scott and Eric knows this.
- 37:08Speaker 3: There's always someone trying to take your job. No matter
- 37:10Speaker 3: who you are, there's someone trying to take your job,
- 37:12Speaker 3: and when you get hurt, it just gives them that
- 37:14Speaker 3: opportunity to take that job.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Exactly. One other thing, I want to hit National League West.
- 37:21Speaker 1: You'll let me know when we have it. But Rockies
- 37:24Speaker 1: manager Warren Schaeffer is not thrilled that there are so
- 37:28Speaker 1: many people visiting the ballpark that are not Rockies fans.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Here's more.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Listen.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I get asked this question a lot, not just
- 37:36Speaker 4: from you, Patrick, and it's not just the Cubs. Man, Yeah, Dodgers,
- 37:39Speaker 4: it's blue over on that side because I when I
- 37:41Speaker 4: coach third base, I would go down. It was like
- 37:43Speaker 4: enemy territory on that side of the field.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Cardinals all red over there.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Listen.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Does it bother me? Absolutely? It bothers me. Do I
- 37:53Speaker 2: notice it? You absolutely notice it. How can't you notice it?
- 37:56Speaker 2: It's loud for the other team in our own ballport.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Now much is that on us? I would say all
- 38:03Speaker 2: of it's on us.
- 38:04Speaker 4: I would say that when we start winning a ton
- 38:06Speaker 4: of games, which isn't that far in the future.
- 38:10Speaker 3: That the blue is going.
- 38:12Speaker 2: To morph into purple.
- 38:13Speaker 4: I'm colorblind, so it looks the same, but to other
- 38:17Speaker 4: people it's going to be more purple. And I look
- 38:19Speaker 4: forward to that day and the only people we have
- 38:22Speaker 4: to blame are so is round.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I love that. That was a great answer, and he
- 38:27Speaker 1: spoke very like unmethodically, if that makes sense, Like it
- 38:30Speaker 1: wasn't front office talk. He was just like, yeah, it sucks.
- 38:32Speaker 1: There's a lot of Cubs fans. My parents were at
- 38:34Speaker 1: that game yesterday. They're not Cubs fans, but they're not
- 38:36Speaker 1: Rockies fans. It's also a cool place to visit when
- 38:38Speaker 1: you're out in Denver. But aj they're sick of it.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Hey let's talk, or Hey Polanco remember him? His left
- 38:46Speaker 1: leg did not show any structural damage to his achilles tendon.
- 38:49Speaker 1: That was the MRI on the left leg. I should
- 38:52Speaker 1: say Andrew Treddick, I guess covers the team. Looks like
- 38:56Speaker 1: he's got a credential good enough for me. Metts will
- 38:58Speaker 1: adjust his pregame work. There's a chance he takes VP
- 39:01Speaker 1: the next few days, plays rehab games. It's a DH
- 39:03Speaker 1: in the near future. He will not be shut down.
- 39:07Speaker 1: We just did a segment on the White Sox, and
- 39:08Speaker 1: I feel like the combination of Poorgey Planco and Luis
- 39:11Speaker 1: Robert are just a very frustrating duo because they often
- 39:15Speaker 1: have these kind of situations where it's like they're heard.
- 39:18Speaker 1: It takes a while, there's some weird pop up situation
- 39:20Speaker 1: that happens that prevents stuff, you know, from being a
- 39:24Speaker 1: smooth rehab And you know Scott.
- 39:28Speaker 3: He's on the aisle for his achilles. Is that what
- 39:31Speaker 3: he's on there for?
- 39:32Speaker 2: I believe so lower body injury sore.
- 39:37Speaker 3: But so my question is is there no structural damage?
- 39:40Speaker 3: And what is he just sore? Again? This is these
- 39:43Speaker 3: are questions I don't know because I'm not in there,
- 39:45Speaker 3: and I'll never question anyone's pain tolerance.
- 39:47Speaker 2: I get that.
- 39:48Speaker 3: But you know, this reporting makes it sound like there's
- 39:50Speaker 3: nothing wrong with him. You should be able to play
- 39:52Speaker 3: right now. We don't know that. But it's just you know,
- 39:55Speaker 3: sometimes these tweets are worded in a way where you're like, ah,
- 39:59Speaker 3: what's the really happened in there?
- 40:04Speaker 1: It's a difficult balance when you're a team. You can't
- 40:07Speaker 1: be like, hey, dude, we gotta get you going. The
- 40:10Speaker 1: answer often is what you just saw on the tweetkrats, Hey,
- 40:13Speaker 1: we're gonna tweak his pregame routine and see if that
- 40:16Speaker 1: does things. They tried that with Luis Robert when he
- 40:18Speaker 1: was playing.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Tweak it. Does that mean he didn't have a pregame routine?
- 40:24Speaker 2: Does that mean he was doing too much? Riley have I?
- 40:28Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we got a couple of minutes for slap.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You know, for all of the pulled power that is
- 40:45Speaker 1: promoted in Major League Baseball, and we love it. You guys,
- 40:48Speaker 1: see how many knocks the big ones went either to
- 40:51Speaker 1: center or opposite field yesterday, So you had the salth
- 40:54Speaker 1: Stewart to run homer that was to straightaway center. Both
- 40:57Speaker 1: of Montgomery's knocks right went to the opposite way. There
- 41:03Speaker 1: were a couple others too, Oh, Randy rose Arena hitting
- 41:07Speaker 1: a slider that was probably off the plate. That was
- 41:10Speaker 1: the difference making homer for the Mariners against the Orioles.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Those are all opposite field shots right there.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Listen, you want to I tell Mike Sun this all
- 41:19Speaker 3: the time, crowds, I'm sure you do. You know how
- 41:21Speaker 3: many big hits are hit the other way? A lot
- 41:23Speaker 3: more than you think. Like just slap to the right
- 41:26Speaker 3: side if you're right handed, hitter, ground ball through the hole,
- 41:29Speaker 3: blooper over the second basement's head right. So many of
- 41:33Speaker 3: the big hits in baseball are hit the other way.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Luis Gonzalez, so Mario Rovera right to left field, left
- 41:38Speaker 3: center field. There's so many that are hit the other
- 41:41Speaker 3: way because that's when the guys aren't trying to get
- 41:43Speaker 3: too big and they just put the bat on the ball.
- 41:45Speaker 2: RBI's elevated to the opposite field. The team that does
- 41:49Speaker 2: it the most wins the most games. Yes, I get it.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Pull power is a thing, but not sustainable for the
- 41:56Speaker 2: long term. To be able to stay on off speed
- 41:58Speaker 2: pitches and to be able to square up fastballs, you've
- 42:03Speaker 2: got to be able to elevate the ball the opposite field.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Look what's happening in Vegas. Look how many of those
- 42:07Speaker 2: balls were not pull hooked balls. They're flicking them out
- 42:11Speaker 2: to the opposite field.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Remember last year, there was like a week where the
- 42:16Speaker 1: wind in Tampa was going out to one part of
- 42:20Speaker 1: the park and everybody was it was right field, and
- 42:23Speaker 1: every you know, whether you were a lefty hitter or
- 42:25Speaker 1: a righty hit or everyone's like, if you can get
- 42:28Speaker 1: the right pitch to send it to right field, it
- 42:31Speaker 1: is going to go so much longer than it usually
- 42:34Speaker 1: does even in that park, let alone in any other park.
- 42:37Speaker 1: It was like this one particular week where the home
- 42:40Speaker 1: runs were ridiculous. So that's a thing. Do you think
- 42:44Speaker 1: that any hitters can get like too opo happy, you know,
- 42:47Speaker 1: like some guys get too pole happy. That was you
- 42:51Speaker 1: can't force it, Okay, you.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Can't force it. That's that's one thing you have to
- 42:55Speaker 3: also understand is. You can't force you can't go up
- 42:57Speaker 3: there and say, I'm going to hit this ball to
- 42:59Speaker 3: right no matter what, because that's when you get really
- 43:02Speaker 3: like underneath the ball and you hit those like little
- 43:04Speaker 3: shanks to right field that some guys do. So you
- 43:07Speaker 3: can't force it. It's it's it's, it's it's it's kind
- 43:09Speaker 3: of an art. It's an art, and the best hitters
- 43:12Speaker 3: are the ones that can use the whole field.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Yep, Jeter made a career out of it. He would
- 43:19Speaker 2: stay inside the ball. It's not it's not for everybody,
- 43:22Speaker 2: but there's principles of hitting the ball to right center
- 43:25Speaker 2: compared to left center if you're a right handed hitter,
- 43:28Speaker 2: the principle that your bat's gonna stay in the zone
- 43:30Speaker 2: a longer time.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And he's still got the WBC logo. What he got
- 43:35Speaker 1: for crats Hats on our way out.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I mean, Palo Orlando started his career with three straight triples.
- 43:41Speaker 2: He's one of the he's the hitting coach on the
- 43:43Speaker 2: Brazilian team. Now, I didn't have green hair, but I
- 43:46Speaker 2: think this flag on the side of the Brazilian flag
- 43:49Speaker 2: on the side for this one is my favorite. I'm
- 43:51Speaker 2: not a big fan of the bee I'll be honest,
- 43:53Speaker 2: but I like the blue with the Brazilian flag and
- 43:57Speaker 2: I wore it because of World Cups starting.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Oh good car.
- 44:10Speaker 2: H
