- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on your.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Ah huh, I sure will come on and everybody you
- 0:06Speaker 2: all listening to the voice, come on, dig me now
- 0:09Speaker 2: one and on Steve Harvey got a radio show.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Hell Man back in business too, Man Man, how good
- 0:18Speaker 3: is God? I mean, really, if you think about it
- 0:20Speaker 3: in spite of all that's going down in your life.
- 0:23Speaker 3: First of all, it could be worse. But secondly, sometimes
- 0:27Speaker 3: you have to remember. And I've just had to have
- 0:29Speaker 3: this conversation with myself this morning. That's how I'm fresh
- 0:34Speaker 3: on this one right here. When a challenge faces you,
- 0:38Speaker 3: are you going through a difficult moment, or you don't
- 0:41Speaker 3: hit a bump in the road in the middle of that,
- 0:44Speaker 3: if you could manage to be grateful, it would take
- 0:47Speaker 3: you a long way. Gratitude is a powerful resource if
- 0:52Speaker 3: you can be grateful in the middle of it. Gratitude
- 0:56Speaker 3: is a powerful resource when it's dim for you. And
- 1:01Speaker 3: then got a little bumpy on the road, and he
- 1:04Speaker 3: ran into some obstacles, and you done ran up into
- 1:06Speaker 3: some detailed signs, and your journey ain't smooth as it.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Was last week or last year.
- 1:14Speaker 3: You gotta be grateful for the things that are going
- 1:18Speaker 3: right and that have gone right.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And for the thing that's wrong right now to get right? Man?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Can I share that with you?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Man? Is that a tough one to learn? It is
- 1:29Speaker 3: for me It has been one of my toughest challenges
- 1:33Speaker 3: is to learn how to be grateful because it's a
- 1:37Speaker 3: powerful resource, but how to be grateful in moments of
- 1:40Speaker 3: despair when it ain't going right. See here's a mistake
- 1:44Speaker 3: I would make. See when something go wrong, I want
- 1:46Speaker 3: to focus on the wrong so much in an attempt
- 1:50Speaker 3: to fix it. But even then, the focus ain't always
- 1:55Speaker 3: in to fix it. The focus becomes, Man, this is bad.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Can't believe this is happening? Why this keep going down?
- 2:03Speaker 3: That doesn't fix anything? You know, mealing over it, going
- 2:08Speaker 3: over what's wrong, explaining it, sharing it with your friends,
- 2:14Speaker 3: you know, making it sound worse than it is, tell
- 2:19Speaker 3: the story for pity from other people. All of that,
- 2:21Speaker 3: right there, has nothing to do with the fix. Sometimes
- 2:24Speaker 3: you're just mulling over it. You're just making it worse.
- 2:27Speaker 3: You're just making it a bigger problem. You're manifesting it
- 2:31Speaker 3: into your atmosphere, You're putting it out there in your spirit.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Now all of a sudden it consumes your day. Next thing,
- 2:37Speaker 3: you know, you're having a bad day. If you're having
- 2:40Speaker 3: a bad day, it's because you've been having some bad thoughts.
- 2:44Speaker 3: So what I've had to learn how to do, and
- 2:45Speaker 3: what I'm working on this morning is I'm working on
- 2:49Speaker 3: the situation that Ben cropped up. I was going kind
- 2:52Speaker 3: of smooth here for a minute and now then got
- 2:54Speaker 3: real bumpy in the road, you know, and all this here.
- 2:57Speaker 3: So what I'm thinking about now though, is even though
- 3:00Speaker 3: I've hit a bumping the road, and even though I
- 3:03Speaker 3: done ran into a detour, and even though I've hit
- 3:07Speaker 3: this lull, I'm going down into a valley, I ain't
- 3:10Speaker 3: up on the peak. Can I not still be grateful
- 3:14Speaker 3: for all the things that God has given me, for
- 3:17Speaker 3: all the things He's done for me, for all the
- 3:20Speaker 3: things He's bought me through, And realizing that even this
- 3:25Speaker 3: that's happening to me again is going to pass to
- 3:29Speaker 3: He gonna get me through that too. Come on, man,
- 3:31Speaker 3: God is a good god man. It's a lot to
- 3:34Speaker 3: be grateful for. So while I'm tripping on this bumping
- 3:36Speaker 3: the road out and here, what I got to remember
- 3:38Speaker 3: is all the things He's done for me. And like
- 3:41Speaker 3: I say, my saying is join depression cannot reside in
- 3:44Speaker 3: the same place. So instead of being down about this
- 3:47Speaker 3: new bumping the road, if I'm constantly filling my mind
- 3:51Speaker 3: with the thoughts of how good he's been to me,
- 3:53Speaker 3: of what all he's done for me, of all the
- 3:56Speaker 3: things he's brought me through, of all the blessings he's
- 3:59Speaker 3: presented me with. When I go down that list, I
- 4:02Speaker 3: really don't have a lot of time to mull over
- 4:07Speaker 3: the situation.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Now.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Do I have to fix this bump in the row?
- 4:11Speaker 3: Of course I do. Are There's some things I'm going
- 4:14Speaker 3: to have to do to straighten it out. Of course
- 4:16Speaker 3: it is. But Steve just going to get the business
- 4:19Speaker 3: of doing it and straighten it out. What you mulling
- 4:21Speaker 3: over and worrying about it for you know, old people.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I heard old people say something when I was growing
- 4:26Speaker 3: up in the church. They say, if you're gonna pray
- 4:28Speaker 3: about it, don't worry about it. But if you're gonna
- 4:30Speaker 3: worry about it, don't pray about it. That's an amazing thing.
- 4:34Speaker 3: And prayer just happens to be my weapon of choice. Now,
- 4:38Speaker 3: it ain't always been that way. I want you to
- 4:41Speaker 3: understand that my first weapon of choice was you do
- 4:43Speaker 3: it to me, I do it to you.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You called me out, I call you out.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You say something bad about me, I've tried to find
- 4:50Speaker 3: you say something bad about you. That was my weapon
- 4:53Speaker 3: in the past. How did that work out for you, Steve?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Not so good? Because you know what, I spent a
- 4:59Speaker 3: lot out of time fighting back, kicking back, swinging back,
- 5:04Speaker 3: when I could have spent all that time climbing. See,
- 5:08Speaker 3: all you trying to do at the end of the day, folks,
- 5:11Speaker 3: is have a better life than the one you got.
- 5:13Speaker 3: All you trying to do is to improve your position
- 5:15Speaker 3: in life. You know, it's not my business to make
- 5:18Speaker 3: sure you don't get where you going. I ain't got
- 5:21Speaker 3: no time for that. It's not my job to assure
- 5:24Speaker 3: that you ain't as high as me. I ain't got
- 5:27Speaker 3: no time for that. Your real mission and purpose is
- 5:31Speaker 3: to have the best life that you can have, to
- 5:34Speaker 3: ascend to the highest plateau that you can get to,
- 5:37Speaker 3: to make your family as comfortable as you can, to
- 5:41Speaker 3: provide as much as.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You can for your family.
- 5:43Speaker 3: But legally, see, those of us are sitting up here
- 5:46Speaker 3: trying to come up with sideways. You can ask a
- 5:49Speaker 3: couple million men sitting in prison today how they wish
- 5:51Speaker 3: they hadn't have done that, And they'll tell you, oh, man,
- 5:55Speaker 3: I wish I never had did it. I knew not
- 5:58Speaker 3: to go down there, hold me not to go down there. Man,
- 6:02Speaker 3: if I could change things, I would. But they sitting
- 6:05Speaker 3: somewhere doing some time that had they made another decision,
- 6:09Speaker 3: they wouldn't have to do now. That don't make them
- 6:11Speaker 3: throw away people, nah, man, because everybody make mistakes, and
- 6:15Speaker 3: God is in the forgiving business. And some of us
- 6:18Speaker 3: have done some things that really broke the law, and
- 6:21Speaker 3: a whole lot of other things and deserve to do
- 6:24Speaker 3: some time. But through the grace of God, we didn't.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But now we sit up here we pass judgment on
- 6:28Speaker 3: people who got to do some matter. I don't care.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I don't care what you've done. God can forgive anything.
- 6:34Speaker 3: But our position, our motivation in life is to try
- 6:38Speaker 3: to have the best life we can have and provide
- 6:40Speaker 3: for those around us and make it comfortable. If that's
- 6:43Speaker 3: your ambition, you don't have time to worry about or
- 6:47Speaker 3: concern yourself with another person. And I wasted time doing that,
- 6:53Speaker 3: and that's not the way to get it done. It's
- 6:55Speaker 3: simply mine to your business. Taking care of you and
- 6:58Speaker 3: getting yourself right and tight is twenty four to seven.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So that's a full time job.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So what I had to learn was and what I've
- 7:06Speaker 3: the reason I've chosen prayer as my weapon of choice
- 7:10Speaker 3: now is that now prayer helps me that I don't
- 7:14Speaker 3: have to fight back. Now, if I get cornered, I'm
- 7:18Speaker 3: gonna fight you. I ain't even gonna lie to you.
- 7:21Speaker 3: And now I'm still working on some things that trigger me.
- 7:24Speaker 3: You know, you know, you know, and and so I'm
- 7:29Speaker 3: I'm slowly getting better at that. But I've learned that
- 7:33Speaker 3: my weapon of choice is prayer now. So when it
- 7:37Speaker 3: happens ugly for me, I pray about it. When it
- 7:41Speaker 3: gets tight and dismal for me, I pray about it.
- 7:45Speaker 3: And the thing about prayer, man, is prayer changes things.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yes, it does. Now read about it and try it.
- 7:54Speaker 3: That's the deal. Okay, come on, Prayer is a wonderful weapon.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
