- 1:00Speaker 1: Instagram account. But consider yourselves warned if you have opinions
- 1:04Speaker 1: about how we're running it. Just like text a friend,
- 1:08Speaker 1: tell someone else. Wendy is one negative common away from
- 1:13Speaker 1: shutting the entire thing down.
- 1:14Speaker 3: So just have a good time with it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'm excited to do it too.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I don't think there's fun.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's so fun. I don't think there's going to be
- 1:22Speaker 2: any big surprises this year in terms of like when
- 1:26Speaker 2: we get down to our final fours.
- 1:28Speaker 1: No, I agree with you, but I am I don't
- 1:31Speaker 1: think in my opinion that there is a clear runaway
- 1:35Speaker 1: winner at this point, Like I think, yeah, the Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Do you have a vision of what the winner is?
- 1:46Speaker 2: I kind of do, but I'm not gonna say it
- 1:48Speaker 2: out loud, not now.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I won't.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to sway anybody. And we still
- 1:54Speaker 2: have just a few more movies from Homemarks, so we
- 1:59Speaker 2: could get real surprise late entry indeed into the mix.
- 2:05Speaker 3: So who knows?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Who knows? Yeah, give us a follow up Instagram. We
- 2:08Speaker 1: are Girls Gone Homemark. Hey.

- 2:40Speaker 1: Com slash Megan and Wendy. Well, let's hear a synopsis
- 2:44Speaker 1: for our two episodes of twelve Dates Till Christmas.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Episode three tis the season for Karma. Kate confronts past
- 2:52Speaker 2: dating patterns as she matches with someone she ghosted. Mac
- 2:56Speaker 2: and Evelyn road trip to Brighton and Callum holds a
- 2:58Speaker 2: pop up at the Episode four'tis the season for Mama Drama.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Kate's mother, Delilah shows up for a holiday visit, throwing
- 3:07Speaker 2: Mack and Kate for a loop. History repeating itself causes
- 3:10Speaker 2: Callum and Kate to remember their past.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Episode three was written by Zach Hug. You might recall
- 3:16Speaker 1: that Zach recently wrote the Brendan Penny Rachel Boston movie
- 3:19Speaker 1: The More the Merrier. His other work includes a ton
- 3:22Speaker 1: of other Hallmark movies like The Five Year Christmas Party,
- 3:25Speaker 1: Ghosts of Christmas Always, Both Sister Swap Movies, Three of
- 3:29Speaker 1: the Christmas and Evergreen Movies, plus for the series Shadow
- 3:32Speaker 1: Hunters and.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Drop Dead Diva. I Love that series.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Episode four was written by Lynn Sternberger. Lynn has eight
- 3:38Speaker 1: writing credits and has previously written two of our personal favorites,
- 3:42Speaker 1: Love Classified from twenty twenty two. Hey, Homark, we need
- 3:46Speaker 1: more scripts like Love Classified and a Couple episodes of
- 3:49Speaker 1: the series The Bold Type. Other work includes Home Economics
- 3:53Speaker 1: and Bluff City Law.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Episodes three and four were directed by Megan K.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Fox.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Meghan is a writer and director from Dublin, Ireland. She's
- 4:01Speaker 2: known for her award winning short films and episodic TV directing,
- 4:04Speaker 2: which includes east Enders, Too Good to Be True and
- 4:07Speaker 2: Fair City.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Our core cast returns May Whitman as Kate, Julian Morris
- 4:12Speaker 1: as Callum, and Lucy Eaton as bestie Laura. We also
- 4:15Speaker 1: have Nathaniel Parker as Kate's dad, Mac, Jane Seymour as Evelyn,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and Mary McDonald as Kate's mom Delilah. In addition, we
- 4:24Speaker 1: have Toby Sandman as Richard, Zefani Edoco as Sarah, and
- 4:27Speaker 1: Emer Morrissey as the matchmaker.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Drew Shannon O'Doherty plays young Kate and Liam Bixby plays
- 4:34Speaker 2: young Callum.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Let's take a quick break and we're gonna come right
- 4:37Speaker 1: back with our first impressions of twelve Dates till Christmas
- 4:40Speaker 1: Episodes three and four. Hey, Wendy, what was your first
- 4:52Speaker 1: impression of this pair of episodes? Well, love is on
- 4:55Speaker 1: the horizon, but Kate has some emotional unpacking to do
- 4:59Speaker 1: before she gets there. My first impression is this show
- 5:04Speaker 1: loves to surprise us. Every time I think I know
- 5:07Speaker 1: where we're going, Boom, a twist or a text.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear more about it.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I will tell you.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I watched episode three, and then the following day I
- 5:16Speaker 2: watch episode four, and while both very good, episode four
- 5:21Speaker 2: at the end just had me like boom, yes this
- 5:25Speaker 2: show and I was retelling my goodness right exactly, and
- 5:29Speaker 2: I was like, We're only getting two more episodes of
- 5:32Speaker 2: the show.
- 5:33Speaker 3: How is that possible?
- 5:34Speaker 1: You know what's very interesting is these two episodes were
- 5:36Speaker 1: written by two different writers, but the story is so
- 5:39Speaker 1: cohesive from start to finish. The way we close the
- 5:43Speaker 1: loop at the episode four, from some beats that were
- 5:46Speaker 1: open up, it's really good. It's really good.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Okay, can we talk our likes?
- 5:52Speaker 3: I want to.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Talk about Kate's art. Yes, first and foremost. When we
- 5:59Speaker 1: open episode three.
- 6:01Speaker 2: She's you know, she's lost in thought about Richard and
- 6:04Speaker 2: there's all these like little subtle, whimsical doodles on screen, right.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And it wasn't until it wasn't until episode four where
- 6:16Speaker 2: I was like, oh, oh, Kate, what Kate's producing art?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Wise has a lot to do with what's going on
- 6:24Speaker 2: with her. Yes, and so I have a question for you.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Are the cute doodles doing storytelling work for you?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yes? Two things I want to say. I loved the
- 6:37Speaker 1: cute doodles in the opening scene. I loved the cute
- 6:40Speaker 1: doodles in the closing scene of episode four.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But I gotta tell you it was our interview with
- 6:48Speaker 1: Aaron Rodman and Zach Hugg which dropped last week. If
- 6:51Speaker 1: you haven't listened to it, go back that's on Friday,
- 6:53Speaker 1: where they said her discovering more about herself is opening
- 6:58Speaker 1: up her creativity. That was like a mind blowing moment
- 7:02Speaker 1: for me. Yeah. Same. And then I watched these episodes
- 7:05Speaker 1: and I saw that exhibiting itself on screen, where we see,
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know, she's stretching herself creatively. Even her boss is like, Oh,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's kind of a different direction than I'm used to
- 7:16Speaker 1: seeing you going.
- 7:17Speaker 3: It's I love that idea.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, And it made me realize back in episodes one
- 7:23Speaker 2: and two where she was trying to come up with
- 7:25Speaker 2: designs for a client and it wasn't like quite working,
- 7:28Speaker 2: and I was like, Oh, she's just not in the
- 7:30Speaker 2: creative space where you know, to be a creative you
- 7:33Speaker 2: kind of have to have you know, you know what
- 7:35Speaker 2: I mean, Like, yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 3: It's all money for her right now?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, that's the best way to put it. Yes, exactly,
- 7:42Speaker 2: So I really enjoy this sort of element. Yeah meets
- 7:48Speaker 2: the effect is working for me here, it's really working
- 7:51Speaker 2: for me. The next thing I loved I am all
- 7:54Speaker 2: in on the friendship between Kate, Laura, and Callum. They
- 7:58Speaker 2: have this fortless chemistry you cannot fake. It's such it's
- 8:04Speaker 2: so well lived in, like the side eye and the
- 8:07Speaker 2: teasing and all of it just works so well together.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Like brava to these three who are pulling off this
- 8:15Speaker 2: we're supposed to be like this historied friendship. It's they're
- 8:18Speaker 2: doing it so well.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Can I speak a little bit more to her friendship
- 8:22Speaker 1: with Laura When they have a fight, like they're getting
- 8:25Speaker 1: irritated with each other, and the fight ends with Laura
- 8:31Speaker 1: telling her like fun salta dancing and she's like, oh,
- 8:34Speaker 1: you should wear a cute heel and Kate's like I
- 8:35Speaker 1: was planning to. It's just like it speaks to the fact,
- 8:38Speaker 1: like we're fighting, we're irritated.
- 8:40Speaker 3: With each other. But we have all this history.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We're good, Like, we're going to come back from this.
- 8:44Speaker 1: We just needed to get all of that out. Yeah,
- 8:47Speaker 1: it's not like a fallout.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's not like, oh, this is the end of a
- 8:51Speaker 2: friendship now because they're arguing about something. It's not the
- 8:54Speaker 2: Real Housewives, and we're going to come back to this
- 8:56Speaker 2: argument every single week for the next three months.
- 8:58Speaker 3: It's just was like, let's get it off our chest.
- 9:00Speaker 1: We can be real with each other and still come
- 9:03Speaker 1: back to where we were.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it's done really well. It's done super well. I'm like, oh,
- 9:09Speaker 2: those are nice friendships. I like those friendships. Yeah, my
- 9:13Speaker 2: list is long. Why don't you share some of yours?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Well, to my first impression, I like that this show
- 9:18Speaker 1: surprises me. Here's two big examples. When Kate is texting
- 9:23Speaker 1: both Liam and Richard, and the show uses the color
- 9:26Speaker 1: of the text bubbles to let us know who is who. Yeah,
- 9:30Speaker 1: although their names are on screen, but that's the more
- 9:32Speaker 1: obvious call out. And by the way, is the use
- 9:36Speaker 1: of the green text bubble for Liam a very subtle
- 9:39Speaker 1: way of suggesting like, not the guy right anyway. When
- 9:43Speaker 1: she accidentally texts Richard instead of Liam, I was like, no,
- 9:47Speaker 1: even though I could kind of see it coming, it
- 9:49Speaker 1: still was a great moment when you see her hits end.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I really enjoyed that.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And then when she's waiting for Liam at the restaurant, Oh,
- 9:59Speaker 1: I didn't see it coming until she's sitting there and
- 10:01Speaker 1: I type in my notes, I'll be like, is he
- 10:03Speaker 1: ghosting her? And then she gets the text and I
- 10:06Speaker 1: truly in my notes in all caps, wrote ef you Liam,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Like I win, Yeah, I mean, did you have a
- 10:13Speaker 1: different reaction? Okay, well a lot of things. If we
- 10:17Speaker 1: go to the escape Room date, yes, where she's on
- 10:20Speaker 1: with the date with Liam. This is a dude that
- 10:22Speaker 1: she has met before and ghosted.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I actually thought this was a very interesting date in
- 10:30Speaker 2: terms of what we learn here. And he's telling her like, oh, yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 2: ghosting makes me feel bad about myself, you know, like
- 10:38Speaker 2: when I'm ghosted, it makes me feel bad. It makes
- 10:41Speaker 2: me question myself, and she's like, no, it's not about you,
- 10:43Speaker 2: It's more about me. I'm like, I love this whole
- 10:46Speaker 2: context here, and then cut to where she's waiting for him.
- 10:51Speaker 2: In one of the most cinematic, beautiful scenes I've ever seen.
- 10:55Speaker 2: She's in a cafe and behind her is the freaking
- 10:58Speaker 2: London Bridge. It's stunny. When we talked to Zach and Aaron,
- 11:02Speaker 2: they had told us that they went and shot a
- 11:04Speaker 2: bunch of stuff in London, and I was like, was
- 11:05Speaker 2: that real or is that like a I don't know,
- 11:08Speaker 2: like a green screen situation where they put the London
- 11:11Speaker 2: Bridge behind her after the fact. I don't know, but
- 11:14Speaker 2: it's so beautiful. Anyway, she gets the ghost thing and
- 11:19Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, that wasn't cool.
- 11:20Speaker 3: But I liked Liam.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Well that's what I'm saying. I liked Liam too, and
- 11:25Speaker 1: Liam I made a note of him saying that made
- 11:29Speaker 1: me feel bad about himself. So, knowing how it feels
- 11:32Speaker 1: to be ghosted, I just thought, well, kind of. I
- 11:37Speaker 1: didn't love it. I was like, wait, I thought we
- 11:40Speaker 1: had something here. I thought we could maybe develop this
- 11:43Speaker 1: a little bit more and throw us off the scent,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you know, not a love triangle. But we have all
- 11:47Speaker 1: of these dates to dig into. So but that being said,
- 11:53Speaker 1: loved that scene like it was. It elicited a reaction
- 11:57Speaker 1: from me.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of a love triangle, my spidy senses are activated,
- 12:01Speaker 2: can I tell you?
- 12:02Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 12:03Speaker 1: And I'm not talking love triangle between Richard and Callum.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Oh, tell me more.
- 12:08Speaker 2: The character Marjorie keeps coming back. Marjorie is that woman
- 12:13Speaker 2: that Kate meets on the first date.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the blonde one.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Right, She's in this one as well. And I was like,
- 12:20Speaker 2: this cannot be coincidence because maybe what Ar's meeting her,
- 12:25Speaker 2: I am thinking Richard is also dating her at the
- 12:27Speaker 2: same time. And then we have the bracelet gift, and
- 12:31Speaker 2: I was like, oh, what if he is gifting three
- 12:34Speaker 2: gifts to Kate and Marjorie both and they're going to
- 12:37Speaker 2: see each other again at some point, and she's going
- 12:40Speaker 2: to see the bracelet and no, my spidy sensors are activated.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, let me tell you. At the end of
- 12:49Speaker 1: this episode, I was like, I'm so in on both
- 12:54Speaker 1: of these guys, right, I'm invested in both of the
- 12:57Speaker 1: love stories. Although I really loved the Calumn story to
- 13:00Speaker 1: talk about, but I was thinking about it, which way
- 13:05Speaker 1: are we gonna go? And I was thinking, there's so
- 13:08Speaker 1: little that we know about Richard. In my mind, perhaps
- 13:12Speaker 1: there's going to be a big reveal in episodes five
- 13:15Speaker 1: and six. There's got to be something that turns us
- 13:17Speaker 1: off of one of these guys, And because we know
- 13:19Speaker 1: so much less about Richard than about Callum, it stands
- 13:22Speaker 1: to reason that it might be him. But I kind
- 13:25Speaker 1: of was forgetting that he's still dating all these women
- 13:29Speaker 1: too interesting. I like what you're thinking there.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I mean, I could be totally wrong, but see red flags.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I see red flags? Yes, And you mentioned the what
- 13:46Speaker 2: are we gonna do because we're gonna have to root
- 13:47Speaker 2: for one of the guys, right, Well, I need to
- 13:50Speaker 2: know more about Richard. Richard just comes in. He's flirty
- 13:56Speaker 2: and charismatic, and he's nice to look at. I'm sure
- 13:59Speaker 2: he's a good kick, sir, like all these things, right,
- 14:02Speaker 2: but what else is there? If I'm Kate, I'm like,
- 14:05Speaker 2: I got all this history with Callum. Again, we'll talk
- 14:07Speaker 2: about it in a second, but I got all this
- 14:09Speaker 2: history with Callum. Of course I'm gonna choose Callum, Like,
- 14:12Speaker 2: what's to keep rich Why would she keep Richard around?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Well, and especially after the reveal with Callum, like things
- 14:18Speaker 1: were not what we thought they were.
- 14:20Speaker 2: With exactly, So I'm very interested to see how five
- 14:25Speaker 2: and six work out. We're gonna obviously come back to
- 14:27Speaker 2: that opening scene in episode one where she's on the
- 14:30Speaker 2: train talking about her heart being broken.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so I.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Cannot wait to watch it unfold. I cannot wait. Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 3: And where's she going on that train?
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yes, exactly to get her gone. Oh, I don't know,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Can we talk about Mac and Evelyn's road trip please?
- 14:48Speaker 2: They're a banter, the car, the sheep. I loved all
- 14:52Speaker 2: of it. We talked extensively to Zach and Aaron about
- 14:57Speaker 2: this in our interview with them. At that point when
- 14:59Speaker 2: we chatted with you hadn't seen episode three yet? Is
- 15:01Speaker 2: that correct?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yes?
- 15:03Speaker 2: Now do you get the sheep reference?
- 15:05Speaker 3: I loved the sheep so much.
- 15:08Speaker 1: How gorgeous was that shot? Yeah?
- 15:10Speaker 3: They just the sheep just come down the hill. They
- 15:12Speaker 3: really do.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, stunning. I have a
- 15:18Speaker 2: lot of thoughts about Mac and Evelyn. My biggest thought is,
- 15:23Speaker 2: as I was watching this and writing my notes, I'm like,
- 15:25Speaker 2: I don't even care if these two end up in
- 15:28Speaker 2: like a romantic relationship. I adore the platonic friendship that
- 15:33Speaker 2: they have with each other. They need something from each other.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Evelyn may not want to fully admit to that. Mac
- 15:41Speaker 2: didn't really want to admit to that. In episodes one
- 15:43Speaker 2: and two, like he needed to Evelyn's like physical therapy
- 15:46Speaker 2: basically to help him kind of get out of his
- 15:49Speaker 2: rut that he was in. Yes, I love watching this friendship.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I don't even care where it goes. I agree with you.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Mac has had such emotional growth from episodes one and two.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I mean, the man he is in these episodes is
- 16:05Speaker 1: so different from the man we saw who couldn't even
- 16:08Speaker 1: bothered to get out of his chair, who wouldn't go
- 16:11Speaker 1: for a while, you know, And like the growth that
- 16:13Speaker 1: he's had as a result of Evelyn stepping in is
- 16:16Speaker 1: really I love him so much in these two episodes,
- 16:20Speaker 1: when they go to do the scream, mm hmm. That
- 16:23Speaker 1: could have easily been very cringey. And then when he
- 16:28Speaker 1: lets loose with the scream, and I think it's Evelyn
- 16:32Speaker 1: who's like, oh, you just.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Had that one ready to go, didn't you.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I really enjoy that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And I like how at the end she's like, you
- 16:38Speaker 1: can fix my mirror if you want to, but at
- 16:40Speaker 1: the beginning she's like, don't say anything about my car,
- 16:42Speaker 1: don't try to fix me, don't offer help, like just
- 16:46Speaker 1: be here, just companion.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I just loved it so much where she tells him
- 16:51Speaker 2: the story about how her former husband was diagnosed and
- 16:57Speaker 2: this was going to be their tradition and he died
- 17:00Speaker 2: before they could do it again. And then it became
- 17:02Speaker 2: like a tradition between her and Callum to come out
- 17:04Speaker 2: here and kind of just like scream their grief into
- 17:07Speaker 2: the wind.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I guys, I don't know.
- 17:10Speaker 2: It resonated with me at such a deep level. I
- 17:15Speaker 2: loved it so much.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Yes, I too would like to scream into the wind.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And then the next morning after their car, her car
- 17:23Speaker 2: is broken down and they get it back and he's like, well,
- 17:25Speaker 2: we got to get out to Brighton, so you can
- 17:26Speaker 2: go do your scream and then we'll get back to Bloxford.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I just you know, Mac is such a good.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Guy, truly. Oh love it, love it. I'm glad we
- 17:38Speaker 1: closed the loop on Callum and Sarah and the Poshpie
- 17:41Speaker 1: pop up. Yes, there was a lot of there was
- 17:44Speaker 1: a lot going on there. The comedy was funny. I'm
- 17:47Speaker 1: being invaded by influencers all using the hashtag Poshpie. Oh my,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and there are faces, there are faces to it. We're like,
- 17:54Speaker 1: ooh yeah, yeah, that was great, great stuff. But then
- 17:58Speaker 1: when he just find is like blow. First of all,
- 18:01Speaker 1: the confrontation with the brand guy. Did you catch the
- 18:06Speaker 1: Keto reference again? Indeed? I did it, and I did
- 18:09Speaker 1: to say that. I mean what, it's fine. What's with
- 18:12Speaker 1: all the keto talk on Hallmark this season? It feels
- 18:16Speaker 1: like six or seven years outdated. It should be like osempic.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It should be ozempic talk, to be quite honest, but
- 18:22Speaker 2: they probably can't like say ozimpicelp one.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, there's so much keto talk, but just the
- 18:30Speaker 1: whole thing and the way it builds where he finally
- 18:32Speaker 1: is like I don't want any of this, and his line.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I don't want to be the person you wish I were.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I don't want to be the person you wish I were.
- 18:42Speaker 3: That's savage, it is.
- 18:44Speaker 2: And I feel sad for Sarah because she seems genuinely kind.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I think her intentions were good, that they're just not
- 18:52Speaker 2: on the same page. I don't think she was like
- 18:55Speaker 2: do you mean anything the farious here? But I love
- 18:58Speaker 2: that Callum was just like, look, this is this is
- 19:01Speaker 2: not it. That's not it. This is not it.
- 19:04Speaker 1: We're closing the door on this.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I'm glad that he's drawn out.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Do you Oh yeah, me too. Do you think it's
- 19:12Speaker 2: fair that he was mad at Kate, that Kate knew
- 19:15Speaker 2: all this time that Sarah had dated Oliver and so
- 19:19Speaker 2: on and so forth.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I'm so glad you asked that because I have that
- 19:22Speaker 1: question too. I actually thought Kate did the right thing.
- 19:27Speaker 1: She's like, no, I told Sarah she needed to discuss
- 19:29Speaker 1: that with you. It wasn't my place to get in
- 19:31Speaker 1: the middle of your relationship. And Naura's like, well, why
- 19:33Speaker 1: didn't you tell me? I was like, well, okay, fair enough.
- 19:37Speaker 1: What do do you think?
- 19:38Speaker 3: Do you think his anger is misplaced?
- 19:40Speaker 1: There?
- 19:41Speaker 3: Maybe a little bit, but.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I think it's just because of his complicated our feelings
- 19:46Speaker 2: for Kate, right.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Like he feels a little maybe betrayed by her.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but they, you know, all make up nicely, so
- 19:55Speaker 2: very nicely. Of course, we end episode three Kate's much
- 20:00Speaker 2: in with Richard and who comes up? Who returns Kate's mom, Delilah.
- 20:06Speaker 1: And that's where we end the episode. It's a great scene.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so let's talk about episode four. Okay, basically opens
- 20:13Speaker 2: we get a flashback to young Kate and Mac after
- 20:17Speaker 2: I'm guessing this is like sometime after Delilah has left
- 20:21Speaker 2: and Kate's getting a call that like, her mom won't
- 20:23Speaker 2: be home for Christmas, and for me reframes everything. It's like, Okay,
- 20:29Speaker 2: her mom's not just flighty. Her mom is flighty, but
- 20:33Speaker 2: her mom has also like inflicted a lot of hurt
- 20:37Speaker 2: onto Kate. She's unreliable, yeah, and Mac is the steady
- 20:42Speaker 2: presence in her life. And so now we're starting I
- 20:47Speaker 2: think this is giving such good context of like what
- 20:49Speaker 2: is to comme in this episode between the relationship between
- 20:52Speaker 2: Delilah and Kate, we get so much more backstory here,
- 20:56Speaker 2: and then Kate talks about it later about how that
- 20:59Speaker 2: may her not trust the way anybody feels about her,
- 21:03Speaker 2: and then that comes full circle in her relationship with
- 21:06Speaker 2: Callum too. I thought it was very interesting and I
- 21:12Speaker 2: really liked how Mac figures into this storyline.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Right. He is so team Kate. He's such a lovely
- 21:21Speaker 1: father figure. And when they have that tea that goes
- 21:25Speaker 1: wrong and Kate just keeps pushing and pushing and pushing,
- 21:27Speaker 1: and she's like, basically, we don't want you here, like
- 21:30Speaker 1: this is a tradition that was born out of us
- 21:33Speaker 1: trying to find joy in your absence, and now you're here,
- 21:37Speaker 1: why are you showing up after all of this time? Oh? Man?
- 21:42Speaker 1: And then the conversation when she's like, why are you
- 21:44Speaker 1: on her side?
- 21:45Speaker 3: And he's like, we just kind of slipped back.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Into being your parents, but he's like, you don't have
- 21:50Speaker 1: to forgive her. I like it, and I like the
- 21:54Speaker 1: full circle moment where Delilah comes to him at the
- 21:57Speaker 1: end and she's like, this is your chance unload on me,
- 22:01Speaker 1: and instead of taking that chance, he just says, don't
- 22:03Speaker 1: hurt our girl again.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, this one episode here, right, one episode
- 22:09Speaker 2: could be an entire season. I feel like, just unpacking
- 22:14Speaker 2: and unwinding and untangling the whole Delilah of it all.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it's so good. Don't you think he's
- 22:24Speaker 1: taken a total role reversal in his relationship with both
- 22:27Speaker 1: Evelyn and with Kate from our first two pair of episodes.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I do, Yeah, And in kind of a short period
- 22:34Speaker 2: of time.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Does it make it feel less believable to you?
- 22:38Speaker 3: It doesn't actually feel less believable to me. It's just notable.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I really love the character of Mac, but it's just
- 22:46Speaker 1: a real switcheroo from this grumpy curmudgeon who needed these
- 22:51Speaker 1: women to support him, and now he's stepping into that
- 22:55Speaker 1: role for them.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Well, think about Kate was kind of a grumpy curmudgeon,
- 23:00Speaker 2: and two a little bit and her two friends stepped in.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Indeed, when you look when you see those flashback scenes, though,
- 23:08Speaker 1: I do think it sets a tone that he has
- 23:11Speaker 1: been this present and grounding presence in Kate's life. It's
- 23:15Speaker 1: not new for him to show up for her. Yeah,
- 23:18Speaker 1: so it doesn't feel unearned. He was just out going
- 23:22Speaker 1: through some stuff.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, exactly what did you think of Date eight?
- 23:28Speaker 2: The Date with Herself?
- 23:29Speaker 1: Okay, first of all, I'm just giving away all my
- 23:32Speaker 1: little to just Sy. That's but I really loved as
- 23:34Speaker 1: a tiny thing, the way the date eight visual wipes
- 23:37Speaker 1: off the mirror like you're cleaning the mirror.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I know.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I love how they did all those I thought, I
- 23:44Speaker 1: really liked the Date with yourself. Let's go smash some stuff.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah, after taking a deep, dark look at like what
- 23:52Speaker 2: is who's hurt her? Basically right, you know, and and
- 23:57Speaker 2: Drew's like pressing her it could be your first love,
- 24:00Speaker 2: be a parent. And then you see like the light
- 24:01Speaker 2: go off, and then like the next cut to scene
- 24:04Speaker 2: like she's drawn this whole thing about like her mom
- 24:09Speaker 2: and all these issues she has and whatever, and then
- 24:11Speaker 2: then they go break some shit.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I loved it. I really did too. It was necessary.
- 24:16Speaker 1: We can't, you know, we can't just keep having date
- 24:18Speaker 1: after date after date, Like she needed some introspection.
- 24:21Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Also, we did kind of skip over the salsa dancing date.
- 24:25Speaker 1: But did you happen to catch that she is leading
- 24:29Speaker 1: the dance with the salsa dance guy. Oh I hadn't noticed.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Byron.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, she like dips him and spins him and she
- 24:36Speaker 1: just I thought it was really funny where she's just
- 24:39Speaker 1: kind of taking charge in that role.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I felt bad for Byron honestly because like Kate
- 24:44Speaker 2: went into that date like she was so pissed off
- 24:46Speaker 2: about everything going on, right, poor Byron was.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Just collateral damage. Yeah, the whole thing.
- 24:53Speaker 2: He's like, I don't even know any name Kate. Okay,
- 24:54Speaker 2: nice meaning you bye. Good stuff. In this episod, so
- 25:00Speaker 2: again we also get more art to break down, like
- 25:03Speaker 2: her her art is reflecting her in her unraveling. You know,
- 25:08Speaker 2: she's doing those sketches at work and her boss is like, ooh,
- 25:11Speaker 2: you could put that on a furious little pillow.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I loved it so much.
- 25:17Speaker 2: What else did you like in episode four?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Well, I'd like to talk about Kate and Callum. Sure
- 25:23Speaker 1: this slow burn is burning for me, and the pieces
- 25:29Speaker 1: all come together. We know it's kind of a tough
- 25:33Speaker 1: emotional day for him. He doesn't get to go do
- 25:35Speaker 1: the scream because of this stupid posh pie pop up
- 25:38Speaker 1: that he doesn't want to do. And I love the
- 25:43Speaker 1: information that we get. We just build so much more
- 25:46Speaker 1: of his relationship with Kate. We see her being there
- 25:49Speaker 1: after his mom's funeral. We see them finally having this
- 25:53Speaker 1: like sweet moment. He kisses her, he says, I love you.
- 25:56Speaker 1: She panics, comes back, understands the situation with him and
- 26:02Speaker 1: the other girl. But it's so poetic because earlier in
- 26:05Speaker 1: the episode she had been like, look, I don't I
- 26:08Speaker 1: don't trust emotions because I've been burned and that's colored
- 26:12Speaker 1: my entire relationship history. And so we understand where she
- 26:16Speaker 1: was coming from because it was so much more fresh.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Young Kate was so much more freshly in the throes
- 26:23Speaker 1: of that what she felt as rejection from her mom.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Right and the final scene of them in the.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Courtyard well after they have their big talk, like they
- 26:32Speaker 2: have a talk when they're on They're on dayon nine
- 26:35Speaker 2: and he is there as her plus one, and of
- 26:38Speaker 2: course all this stuff happens on this date, like Delilah
- 26:41Speaker 2: shows up and he's encouraging her Kate to talk to
- 26:44Speaker 2: her mom. I think that's a lot of like Calem's
- 26:47Speaker 2: own baggage of like his mom being dead is playing
- 26:50Speaker 2: into this a little bit, I think. But they sit
- 26:55Speaker 2: down at the table and there our kiss comes up,
- 27:01Speaker 2: yes from previous years ago, and he basically asks her
- 27:06Speaker 2: when did our kiss.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Become a joke?
- 27:10Speaker 2: And then we get the explanation. She's like, I had
- 27:15Speaker 2: to make it a joke because she's hurt basically, right,
- 27:19Speaker 2: that is her coping mechanism. Well, he comes out and
- 27:22Speaker 2: he's like, I'm going to show you that this is
- 27:25Speaker 2: not a joke. I'm paraphrasing here.
- 27:28Speaker 1: How good is the scene?
- 27:30Speaker 3: Just so you know when I kiss you it's not
- 27:32Speaker 3: a joke?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Ah, God, it is so good. I mean it's so hot.
- 27:39Speaker 1: And you know she makes it a joke because he
- 27:41Speaker 1: made her feel like a joke. Like he kisses her
- 27:43Speaker 1: and immediately moves on to the next girl in her eyes, right,
- 27:47Speaker 1: just so you know what. I the resolution, the way
- 27:50Speaker 1: they both understood how that came to be, and now
- 27:52Speaker 1: I was like, oh no, I'm all in on these guys.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Although I am really leaning team Callum. I imagine we're
- 27:57Speaker 1: going to get some thing revealed about Richard that changes
- 28:01Speaker 1: our mind and perhaps something about Callum that we're like,
- 28:03Speaker 1: what you know, I know, we can't go straight to
- 28:06Speaker 1: the end.
- 28:07Speaker 3: The little doodles.
- 28:09Speaker 2: That happen on screen when they're kissing, I rewound it.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I told my daughter to come in from the other room.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I was like, look at it. Look at what do
- 28:17Speaker 2: they do here. I'm like, isn't this cool? And she's like, well,
- 28:20Speaker 2: that's cool. I don't like walked away, but I'm like,
- 28:24Speaker 2: it made the freakin' doodles make me feel something, right.
- 28:28Speaker 2: It makes me feel like those feelings that you get
- 28:32Speaker 2: when you're in love or you're.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Like, oh god, it was so good and it's just
- 28:37Speaker 1: so good. I think it's the Netflix series Heartbreaker, which
- 28:40Speaker 1: is based on a graphic novel. They do the same thing,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and I love I love that the little on screen
- 28:47Speaker 1: doodles like that. Yeah, it's such a cool effect. Do
- 28:50Speaker 1: you have any more likes? Ugh, no, that's it. Let's
- 28:53Speaker 1: stop wishes. I have only one.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Okay, I wish Richard and this is probably my design,
- 29:01Speaker 2: but I Richard floats in and out. He's you know,
- 29:07Speaker 2: I wrote like a handsome Christmas ghost. He just you know.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I need more substance as to why Kate would be
- 29:14Speaker 2: drawn to him, hmm, other than the flirting, like you
- 29:18Speaker 2: got to give me something more where I need to
- 29:21Speaker 2: know she's going to come to a crossroads of like
- 29:23Speaker 2: do I choose Richard or do I choose Callum. I
- 29:26Speaker 2: need to know more about like what Richard is giving.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Yeah, there's not a lot of substance, but a whole
- 29:33Speaker 1: lot of charm. Yeah, exactly. Well, I would like more Laura.
- 29:38Speaker 1: In the first episode, we had so much of her
- 29:41Speaker 1: and in this episode, but she's she's very much a
- 29:45Speaker 1: supporting character and I would like to circle back to
- 29:48Speaker 1: a little bit more of centering her for a few moments.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Although the way she was eyeing that old, decrepit courtyard
- 29:57Speaker 1: that was badly in need of a renovation, I did
- 30:00Speaker 1: that her wheels were turning, and then I had visions
- 30:03Speaker 1: of her renovating it and Callum having a moment of
- 30:08Speaker 1: frustration because she had changed it because that moment was
- 30:12Speaker 1: so important to him and his mother. Oh oh interesting,
- 30:16Speaker 1: this is all made up.
- 30:16Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I was wondering if, like, you know, Laura was like
- 30:21Speaker 2: I am good at this. Maybe she's at a crossroads
- 30:24Speaker 2: in her life of like I don't want to be
- 30:26Speaker 2: a solicitor. What am I doing? I want to do
- 30:30Speaker 2: other stuff. You know, we're seeing her like friendship or
- 30:34Speaker 2: relation you know, well her relationship with Drew.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Yeah, flourish.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so I.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Agree, Laura's great, though.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I have one more tiny baby wish. And it's when
- 30:48Speaker 1: Kate and Callum were on their kind of co date
- 30:52Speaker 1: and she's trying to wingman him and she's like looking around.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I wanted him to be like, stop trying to set
- 30:57Speaker 1: me up with other people. I'm with the person I
- 31:00Speaker 1: want to be with.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but then we would have at the end
- 31:03Speaker 2: of the show.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Well, I understand, but I was just like, tell her
- 31:06Speaker 1: to stop, that's all.
- 31:08Speaker 2: It's like she has completely convinced herself that she's not
- 31:10Speaker 2: an option for Callum, you know, based on whatever happened
- 31:14Speaker 2: twelve years ago.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Yeah, let's talk. Did you see that moments?
- 31:20Speaker 2: I have just a few, and we did to touch
- 31:24Speaker 2: on on gone most of them. Actually, the escape room
- 31:28Speaker 2: in episode three. I love that Kate is sitting in
- 31:31Speaker 2: the ball pit.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, so great.
- 31:34Speaker 2: There's a ton of physical comedy in that date, you know,
- 31:38Speaker 2: with the confetti blowing off and there's just like a
- 31:41Speaker 2: lot of stuff.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I really loved it.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Sharing the Santa jacket.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly exactly. And my only other did you see that,
- 31:52Speaker 2: because we've talked about everything else, is there's a great
- 31:56Speaker 2: line from Evelyn, her and Mac where they're in that
- 31:59Speaker 2: bar and he's like, oh, the winds getting or the
- 32:01Speaker 2: weather's getting really bad outside and it's getting dark, and
- 32:03Speaker 2: she says somebody's come down with the case of the Old.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Ladies, and I was like, that is me, that is me.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Green line, well done, Zach Hug.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I have a few.
- 32:16Speaker 1: The first is there's a sign in the kitchen of
- 32:17Speaker 1: the pear tree above the sink that says, don't put
- 32:19Speaker 1: coffee grounds down the sink, and it's just a nice
- 32:21Speaker 1: little attention to detail in a kitchen that I appreciate.
- 32:28Speaker 1: When they are at their book club meeting, one of
- 32:29Speaker 1: the book clubbers goes, well, that sounds like the classic
- 32:31Speaker 1: enemies to love her to me. I just loved the
- 32:34Speaker 1: meta book Club moment. Yep, we hear Kate's ad lib
- 32:39Speaker 1: you crumbled like a cookie line to Callum, and we
- 32:42Speaker 1: know that that was ad lib thanks to our conversation
- 32:44Speaker 1: with Aaron and Zach. So I loved seeing that come
- 32:47Speaker 1: to fruition and it is just as perfect as they
- 32:49Speaker 1: said it was. And finally, I think it's Kate says
- 32:55Speaker 1: to Delilah, what are you doing here? When she finds
- 32:58Speaker 1: her at the Pear Tree and she's like, it's literally
- 33:00Speaker 1: the only place in this little town and it's giving
- 33:02Speaker 1: like Luke Steiner energy. Where else am I gonna go?
- 33:06Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:06Speaker 3: Totally?
- 33:09Speaker 1: What did you rate these two episodes?
- 33:11Speaker 3: Do I even have to ask?
- 33:13Speaker 2: Did we rate the first ones? I can't remember? Like Ripple,
- 33:17Speaker 2: this is a five star series. If you're not watching it,
- 33:20Speaker 2: you are missing out. Stop right now and watch this series.
- 33:22Speaker 1: It's so good. I totally agree five stars, no notes,
- 33:26Speaker 1: accept some notes, because that's what we're here for. I
- 33:29Speaker 1: can't believe we only have two episodes left?
- 33:31Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 33:33Speaker 2: I'm not ready?
- 33:35Speaker 1: Oh I'm not ready a neat this season two? Indeed, Well,
