Seventeen people in Wisconsin and twenty-three in Minnesota are sick after eating contaminated alfalfa sprouts from Everything Sprouts — brands Calco and Everything Sprouts — with one patient hospitalized. Health officials across states and federal agencies are investigating the outbreak, which involves dangerous E. coli and Salmonella bacteria that can cause severe diarrhea, fever, and even kidney damage.
