- 1:05all right so this is very fitting i've
- 1:08wanted to do this type of episode for a while this type of just discussion over
- 1:12obsession obsession because obsession really really fanatically drives me i
- 1:18don't know if it drives you personally you could obsession can be a bad thing
- 1:23but it can also can be a good thing that not everybody has about certain things.
- 1:28It's what you direct it towards and what you can utilize it for.
- 1:34And if we started off with obsession, if your obsession is over a sports team,
- 1:40sometimes that can crush you because for me, I was hurt yesterday.
- 1:46I mean, not deeply, deeply hurt. I mean, it hurt bad seeing the Chiefs lose.
- 1:51Like I said on Friday, it would have been a lot tougher if they would have just lost by one point.
- 1:56I would have had a lot tougher time sleeping if they would have lost by one point.
- 2:01But losing by that, and we kind of saw the writing on the wall pretty early...
- 2:06It was, it was a little easier to take. So if your obsession is geared towards and just directed,
- 2:12concentrated in just a sports team and just something in your life like that,
- 2:17you can be let down and you're, you're, you're going to be hurt.
- 2:21You're going to be left brokenhearted.
- 2:23And I believe, you know, that that's, it will happen, you know?
- 2:27So if, and personally, do you, who's listen to this, do you have an actual obsession
- 2:33towards something that you want to achieve in your life?
- 2:36Something that you feel is that has been driving you to go out and get,
- 2:42you know, is there something in your life that you were just,
- 2:45you want to attain, you know, that you've been put on this planet for something.
- 2:49And you may be you haven't even decided exactly what it actually is yet.
- 2:54You don't you're not 100% sure.
- 2:56But sometimes you might be you might know what you want to go after.
- 3:00Do you have that obsession in your life right now for something,
- 3:04for something, you know, you could say job, you could say career,
- 3:09you could say what you want to do.
- 3:11You know, I'm trying to get out of that mindset of thinking of people as in,
- 3:15what do you do? What do you do?
- 3:18You know, and just bringing and somebody down to just that element of their
- 3:24life as what, what do they do?
- 3:26But it also, it does say a lot about you, what you do.
- 3:29But like, if you ask somebody that, like that, that can rub somebody the wrong way.
- 3:34And it might, it's probably not the most appropriate thing to ask,
- 3:37what do you do as like, just devaluing them, can I say that word,
- 3:42devaluing them to that one element of their life. And as that is who they are.
- 3:48I don't think that's who you are, but I believe that God has put every one of
- 3:52us here on this planet for a purpose.
- 3:55I believe that he's given desires in our heart for a purpose,
- 4:00you know, and we can run with those desires and we can try to achieve what we're wanting to.
- 4:07But I do want to actually just step back and let you all think,
- 4:10is there something in your life that is propelling you and pushing you towards
- 4:14that you know you have in you?
- 4:17And you are, I mean, you don't even know, you don't actually might not even
- 4:19know if you have it in you and that that's really what is driving me lately is of,
- 4:26Do I know that I have it in me? Do I actually know that I have it in me to do
- 4:31what I envision myself doing, envision myself accomplishing,
- 4:34envision myself maybe working out and making a difference in this world?
- 4:40Do I actually know that I have that ability?
- 4:44You might not know that you have that ability, but you still have a vision of
- 4:48what you're wanting to accomplish and your life is going towards.
- 4:51And this is where a big part of obsession can be a great thing,
- 4:55can be an awesome thing because the people that have done the most in this world, you know,
- 5:01that it has left waves from their life of impacting other people in this world
- 5:07and benefiting this world and bringing this world to a good thing.
- 5:11I mean, of course, it can be a terrible thing if your obsession is over something
- 5:15that is not good and is not going to bring about good things and is awful and
- 5:21terrible, you know, obviously.
- 5:23But if you can hone it in and go after something that is great,
- 5:27I immediately think of like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, you know.
- 5:33Mark Cuban, you know, like people that are out there, business minded people.
- 5:37And then also it can go into spiritual realm. It can go into people that have accomplished.
- 5:41I mean, you think the Apostle Paul was not obsessed.
- 5:44You think the Apostle Paul was not a person that was just like obsessed with what he did.
- 5:49He was like it showed how much he was obsessed before he became a Christian
- 5:54before Christ encountered him on the road to Damascus that he was wanting to eliminate destroy,
- 6:01the church this new kind of this new uprising of the sect of believers that are.
- 6:08Proclaiming that this man Jesus from Nazareth is the actual Messiah.
- 6:13He wanted to completely remove that and get that off the face of the earth until Jesus appeared to him.
- 6:19But then that obsession that he had, it was completely turned 180 and driven
- 6:26towards doing something incredible.
- 6:29And probably a person that has never done anything more for this world apart
- 6:34from Christ could be said, argued for the apostle Paul, you know,
- 6:38that he promoted the advancement of Christianity.
- 6:41So, and I'm thinking also as a, as a business person, like bringing it back
- 6:45and into like, you know, I, I immediately go to Elon Musk, you know, cause he is a hot topic.
- 6:49He's, I don't know if he's ever not been a hot topic, at least for the last few years.
- 6:53He's all, and he's especially in our face now with X and whether you love what he's doing or you don't,
- 6:59I still think you could still glean that he is hyper obsessed with doing amazing
- 7:07things and making things run and work functional,
- 7:12figuring things out as, as who I am, I am completely driven by functionality.
- 7:18I, if something works, I love it.
- 7:21I don't care how a beautiful, how amazing it looks. If it doesn't work,
- 7:27I don't, I don't, I don't really want anything a part of it.
- 7:29You know, but Elon Musk, you could say Mark Zuckerberg, you know,
- 7:33I just finished watching the social network. If you have, if you've seen that
- 7:35movie, she could watch that again.
- 7:37You know, I know it's just a rendition of his life and his biography or whatever.
- 7:41And, but it's still, I love that movie.
- 7:43He was a person that was hyper obsessed and he still is, you know,
- 7:48with making Facebook, you know, connecting people, he kind of brought it to the table.
- 7:53He took you and that's another thing. You can take a lot of great things that
- 7:57are out there and just Just make it better.
- 8:01Actually take it to a much higher level.
- 8:05Because, I mean, Facebook wasn't the only thing on the internet when it came along.
- 8:10There were other things that kind of brought something good and kind of got an idea of what it was.
- 8:17But it sparked something that he was able to take it to the next level.
- 8:21And do you have something like that in your life? I mean, it might not be to that degree.
- 8:27But is there something in your life that you... I want, I like,
- 8:32I mean, if you just like removed all layers, you just went down to the very core.
- 8:36What are you wanting? What are you wanting to do?
- 8:40What is like in your soul that it just drives you and gives you and, and just fuels you.
- 8:47And no matter how many things go bad and go the opposite way and make it seem
- 8:52like I'm not going to actually do what I'm what's in there.
- 8:56And like something is just casting water
- 8:59and throwing water all over your dreams your hopes what
- 9:02you know you want to be doing but for some reason for
- 9:05some odd reason inexplicable reason you
- 9:09keep going you just keep
- 9:12going and you can't explain it you don't understand it
- 9:15you don't know what's happening you don't know is something
- 9:18else driving you is something else pushing you like if
- 9:22you have that if you found that do that
- 9:25obsession can actually sustain
- 9:28you can actually make you accomplish what
- 9:32you're wanting to do it actually can be enough when all said and done and you
- 9:36can't look everything in every like a an instant frame but you have to look
- 9:41to the far future to what you envision yourself doing what you envision yourself
- 9:48accomplishing whatever it is.
- 9:50It could be just you want to have an amazing family.
- 9:54You want to raise children that are godly and love the Lord.
- 9:59Because really, I mean, that is something, if we step back and all that,
- 10:03you can think of missionaries that go across the seas and promote Christianity, spread the gospel.
- 10:09But your mission field could be your family, your husband, your wife,
- 10:15your kids, that you are sending them out, you know, like rocket ships,
- 10:20you know, to go do something incredible.
- 10:23Like maybe that is your hyper obsession and focus that you want to do that.
- 10:29Whatever it is, you, you know, what is in your heart, you know,
- 10:33what is driving you, you know, what like gives you fulfillment.
- 10:37And even though you, cause I mean, if I could get one thing across,
- 10:41just maybe boil it down and really kind of self-evaluate and look in and look
- 10:47inside and say, what am I wanting to do with this one life?
- 10:52I'm putting two fingers up, But with this one life that I have,
- 10:57what am I actually, what.
- 10:59Because I mean, it's, it's not going to last forever, you know,
- 11:04in a hundred years, people are just going to be looking at what we've left behind.
- 11:09People are going to just be studying.
- 11:11Now it's going to be, it turned into the digital, you know, and not just physical
- 11:15artifacts that our civilization has left, but,
- 11:18digital artifacts, things that we're putting on the internet for years,
- 11:21you know, people will probably look back and try to understand that civilization,
- 11:28how they thought, you know,
- 11:29and what drove them, what was the ethos or whatever.
- 11:35But it's like, what are you wanting to drive home?
- 11:38What are you wanting to accomplish with your life? If you can boil that down,
- 11:42harness everything, all the energy you have and just go after it.
- 11:47You can, the obsession can be enough.
- 11:50You just can't look at it just a near-term fulfillment. It has to be long-term fulfillment.
- 11:57God is the one who is positioning and putting every step in front of the other that we take.
- 12:04God is the one who is orchestrating providentially everything in this world that is happening.
- 12:09Every mundane circumstance, happenstance that we experience that seems like
- 12:16it is random, Coincidental, he is the one who is orchestrating it all.
- 12:21But I mean, we also have to put this obsession we have into.
- 12:26Is it going to have an everlasting effect? Is it going to reach beyond our own
- 12:31life and maybe stretch out and reach out into eternity and have effects there?
- 12:39And if you want to really boil it down to that, you could say,
- 12:42even whatever this hyper obsession that I have,
- 12:44can I kind of still align it and somehow be a mirroring reflection of pointing
- 12:51people to the kingdom of God and pointing people to Christ,
- 12:54because you can have all the desire you want, which are good things,
- 12:59like say you want to create a social network,
- 13:02create a way that people can interact across the world, across the globe.
- 13:06That would be awesome, and it would have great effects now.
- 13:10You say you want to go to Mars, like Elon Musk.
- 13:12That could reach a little bit further into the future, but if you can even take
- 13:18your desire, your deepest obsession,
- 13:20and align it and hone it in towards what can I do that is going to drive people
- 13:26to Jesus Christ and drive people to the kingdom of God,
- 13:30that's going to have so much more effect.
- 13:35What we do in life echoes in eternity.
- 13:39I had to throw that one out there, but I wanted to throw that out there and
- 13:42put that out there and let you all just think about that.
- 13:44What are you obsessed about? Go after it. It is enough.
- 13:48Just keep driving, figure it out first, and then just keep going. Just keep going.
- 13:54So have a good one, everyone. Peace.
