Whoa, that was groovy. speaker-1: Is it it live or we live are we live? We'll do it live Hey, man, how's it going? speaker-0: It's going sweet. speaker-1: What's been happening? Let's... Okay. speaker-0: Well, we're trying to get this lined up. We'll see if anybody joins or if we're just going to be talking to myself. What's that from? The great Ian Malcolm. speaker-1: Just talking to ourselves. That's Jurassic Park. Jurassic? Yeah. who died and came back. Spoiler alert. speaker-0: who died and came back. ⁓ Yeah, so Spielberg apparently talked Michael Crichton into writing the sequel, because I don't think he had any plans on doing it. So he talked him into it. then he River, he talked him. I don't understand what that means. speaker-1: River Tam. speaker-0: He talked him into writing the sequel and, ⁓ okay. And he, ⁓ he brought back Ian Malcolm, but I don't know why he chose Ian Malcolm. You know, it could have been because he couldn't get Sam Neal to come back. So he was able to get Jeff Goldwyn to come back. So he told Michael Crichton, Hey, it's gotta be Ian Malcolm. speaker-1: Thank Stop. It's possible. We need this character back. speaker-0: I don't know. What you think, Chad? speaker-1: but I'm glad I'm glad they did. All right. So what's what are we what are we doing today? What are we talking about today? Tonight this evening this lovely Friday evening. Well, they're a hellish nightmare of a work week. First. OK. speaker-0: Yeah. I'm going to open the Swiss cake roll. But second, you are going to give us your predator franchise movie ranking. speaker-1: The long awaited producer Nick Predator franchise movie rating and then after you're going to tell me how wrong I am. When? ⁓ okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some constructive criticism during and we'll rate my performance. speaker-0: What the you doing? Yeah, we'll go during that. Then I'll give my ranking afterwards. But you know what I find interesting is when we decided to do this, you and I both thought the same thing. Yeah, but we've ranked them already. And we actually had not. speaker-1: We hadn't know we were thinking we had done alien and we had talked about the AVP movies in that ranking, but that's what kept coming to my mind. Like I know we talked about these movies, but that's what it was. That's what those two when we did the alien ranking. ⁓ So yeah, we were ⁓ we were mistaken. Imagine that. speaker-0: We did alien and. It was, Chad, how is the audio sync? Like is our audio in sync with our mouths? What's up Alex? speaker-1: Okay. I should have got it. speaker-0: glass of milk. speaker-1: It's too late now. We're live. We'll do it live. There's no turning back now. We can't we can't keep Chad waiting. speaker-0: Okay, well, don't AVP movies. Which one do you like better? speaker-1: So of the the two AV Yes So we we did not decide to rank those in the ranking we're gonna do one through six movies ⁓ We're not going to include the as Nelson calls it the cartoon. Yeah I respect people who enjoy those things. So I'm going to call it the animated movie, but Nelson doesn't like cartoons. No Which I'm not crazy about that stuff either, but I'm kind of willing to give this a try. I think I'll maybe watch it maybe. So yeah. speaker-0: same thing about like, ⁓ the Clone Wars, you got to watch the Clone No. speaker-1: might say that I'm not watching the Predator movies. ⁓ so yeah, we did the six main movies. ⁓ AVP will talk about them briefly, but we're not going to include them in the ranking to because if we're nothing but consistent, we didn't include them in the alien franchise ranking. So we're not going to include them here. ⁓ My thoughts even speaker-0: Technically they probably are more predator movies than alien movies. speaker-1: Yeah, I agree with that. I like them. I like the first one a lot more So I've recently what rewatched all of them except for the first one because I've seen the first predator movie about seven thousand times so I've rewatched all the other ones including recently watching rewatching AVP both of them and I like the first one better I feel like I like it more every time I see it I've seen it a few times now and I do speaker-0: agree with that. remember being disappointed the first time, but I've watched it a few times since and I enjoy it. I enjoy the second one. A lot of people do not like it like at all. speaker-1: Yeah. And you see, like, the last time we talked about them, I remember saying how, yeah, I don't understand the big deal. And then I recently watched it again. It's like, man, this isn't very good. So I guess I guess. speaker-0: the camera shaking because Nick keeps hitting it. And the camera is mounted on the tape. Hey, this is it's like, it's like a found footage. speaker-1: Sorry. Sorry, everybody. Yeah, I'm sorry. I don't know what to do with my hands. speaker-0: I don't normally have it mounted on there, but I did today and it was probably a mistake. speaker-1: Yeah, sorry, I figured out So yeah, I do like the AVP movies. I like the first one better. I like the ⁓ The Predators having the multiple predators was awesome and the the fights between them I remember you saying that they weren't long enough for they weren't they weren't ⁓ Didn't go long enough. They weren't enough of them. Maybe they Yeah, speaker-0: kill off the predators really quickly, except for the one because one predator is always better. I think when you have multiple, it kind of takes away from certain things. But in AVP Requiem, I just remember really thinking that predator was bad ass. I loved him. Yeah. He goes out there and he's handling business. speaker-1: He was good. And the humans in that one, like I didn't care. Yeah, they were doing care about the kid having issues with bullies and girls. And I just wanted to watch the predator rip folks apart. So whatever they were, they were good. First one's better. I agree. So, so do you want to do you want to get into it? Do you want to start getting into the meat and potatoes? So we're going to start at the bottom. speaker-0: that. speaker-1: Of course. My number six is which I'm sure is going to be your number six as well as the predator. Actually, not my number six. Really? I am shocked. I put the predator at the bottom. And it's it's very simple. It's because it sucks. Because I don't like it very much. I remember watching this for the first you me to watch and you were like, dude, it's fun. It was fun. speaker-0: There's no. It's a fun movie, it's not perfect, but it's... speaker-1: But it doesn't, it's not good. I guess it's kind of like the Jason X of the Predator movie. Some of the stuff is neat. The Predator was cool. The big giant Predator towards the end was cool. The Predator Predator. But ⁓ there's just so much in it that had me rolling my eyes. ⁓ So I did watch it. I watched it a while back and then we watched it together. And you're right, I did get you to watch it. Yeah, come on. That's the only time it's be fun. And it probably was more fun watching it with someone else. Right? We made fun of it. ⁓ But I watched it again a couple nights ago. And it's just, it's rough. ⁓ The the, the best part about it was ⁓ that when they were in the lab, they've got him and he's like throwing people around. Yeah, the gore in it is awesome. When it's speaker-0: pretty rough. speaker-1: Because some of the gore was good and some of it was obvious CGI and it looked really bad the the blood effects and the flashes and all that stuff But that scene was really neat. I Really like Olivia Munn ⁓ I don't know why she walks around apparently with a microscope in her pocket Like they're on RV, which there's so much like wasn't this movie like the production of it was really bad and it went well different I think speaker-0: It's a studio interference movie. Because they had a bunch of reshoots. speaker-1: Okay. Yeah, some of the stuff just doesn't make sense. speaker-0: editing remember like you see one guy and then the next scene he's wearing something completely different he comes from around the area and he's got a machine gun is like ⁓ he got speaker-1: vehicle and he's like, oh, no, no. I was like, well, where did you come from? And I I've got to be honest with you, about three quarters of the way through I stopped paying attention. But I do remember at some point, a guy shows up in a police car that he apparently stole. They show up in a helicopter that they like a news helicopter that they like it just Olivia mine. The scientists but yes, she's speaker-0: was a scientist right she's she jumps on top of moving vehicles speaker-1: the ability to run down a predator jump on top of a bus fire a rifle. Fight all this other stuff just all of a sudden she's the ultimate badass, which I'm okay with but they they don't really offer an explanation of how she got skills. And and again, the aforementioned she just had a microscope with her in this RV that they I don't know where they got the RV. Yeah, she but she's sitting down. speaker-0: I don't remember either. speaker-1: examining the predators fluids with a microscope. Like I guess she took it from the lab. She swiped it and so that's speaker-0: That's more unrealistic than the predator dogs. speaker-1: Well, there's certain things that you have to. We are definitely talking about an alien species movie. speaker-0: No, I'm So it's not my number six. I'll say that I have one. speaker-1: You have a different number. Yes. Okay. Okay. speaker-0: Real mine because you know, it's I gotta keep the tension because people are just waiting for. speaker-1: Right, right. Like, yeah, mean, you gotta keep them gotta keep them on the hook, because I'm not doing it. ⁓ So after after the predator, I have, I struggled with four and five because I liked these two for different things. Ultimately, my number five I settled on predators. speaker-0: Yeah. Look, I've seen it twice. The first time I saw it was with you. We saw it in the theater and we were like, height for them. It was supposed to be all Robert Rodriguez directing it. All the things. Whoa, big shake. All the things. speaker-1: Yes. Yes, because it was supposed to be because it should have been awesome. ensemble cast in the jungle again. We have waited for it for a long time. speaker-0: had been years since a because they had the AVP movies. But it had been years since there was a just a predator movie. And it felt like it was going back kind of to the roots. ⁓ But it was a little different with the speaker-1: Yeah. I'm having trouble not touching the table. I like to leave speaker-0: I'm sorry, I can move the camera. I'll get the other mount if it's ⁓ so all of those things, it should have been awesome. And I think it's, it's awesome in concept with you, you get introduced to the multiple factions of predators. And you know, that's why it's called predators, right? There's like kind of like good guys and bad guys or whatever. So all of these things, in theory, the movie should be awesome. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: I just remember like, being so like, is anything gonna happen when the things that do happen? We're not very awesome. It's weird to describe. speaker-1: For me, it was first of all, I like Adrian Brody. I think he's pretty good. Miss Casco very, very badly miss. He's basically the Arnold and he's not right. Like he's trying to fill the shoes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and he's just not. mean, they talk about all the work he put in and the jam he put on so many pounds of muscle, but they never they'd only they only show it ⁓ at the end. Right. He takes all his gear off and they show him. jumping through the air in slow motion or whatever. ⁓ He just never really filled speaker-0: But he's not convincing as a military tough guy because he's not. speaker-1: Yeah. And he tried really hard. When I was watching it, I think I feel like I texted you that night I was watching it like the dialogue is so bad and every other line is like a slow delivered one liner, which you can do that if you're Arnold, right? Original. Whatever not everything has to be speaker-0: or sly. We gotta get off this rock. I remember him saying we're the game. Yeah, we're the we're the hunter. speaker-1: fucker with it It just you do it a couple times Okay, we get it and then like you every dialogue doesn't have to end with that. Yeah, so Yeah, it was it was the biggest thing. It was just really really disappointing Like you said we were expecting something awesome and it just wasn't Walton Goggins was in it I when I rewatched it I forgot that he was in it. He was great. He was funny ⁓ the the the samurai the who's a guy that's when he face off and they're doing the sword thing that was the best part of the movie. Lawrence Fishburne. It's called speaker-0: That's the best part of the movie. The name of the movie is Predators, speaker-1: Yeah. Lawrence Fishburne being trapped there for however many years or however many cycles or seasons or whatever. But he's like a big surviving and living in this this hollowed out thing and and shut down. But he's looks like me. speaker-0: Yeah, he's all fat. I remember in the theater when they show him you and I were like, wait, I he's been here for years. Why is he fat? He's not eating. speaker-1: Burger King. was eating well. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, his character, he like he had lost his mind, was talking to people and tried to kill them all and everything. But long speaker-0: fish burn should either lost some weight or they should have found somebody. speaker-1: to put somebody else in it. So yeah, it just really it speaker-0: Grace was okay. mean, I remember that surprise. I really didn't see that coming. was almost like why is he speaker-1: Yeah, that's that's something else that it kind of I didn't remember that either. ⁓ really? Yeah. And so one other thing I like about the movie is the throwback. Like they talk about the original, like in 1987 in Cambodia, but in wherever they talk about that, her tribe told stories about this thing that happened. So that was it wasn't Cambodia. It was ⁓ somewhere in South America. It's a shame that we don't know this. speaker-0: See you American. speaker-1: It's a. speaker-0: Tell you what though, if it was me and Dominic talking, this one would be like, ⁓ you mean you don't remember it's here. speaker-1: This one. I'd have it right around. It's different. It's different when you're different whenever different when you're up in front of it. So yeah, they did a couple of good things that were cool. But for the most part, it was a giant disappointment, which brings me to my well, I speaker-0: your life. can agree with those two being at the bottom. speaker-1: bottom two definitely bottom two Yeah. My number four I'm gonna put predator to it has been it's the one that I've watched the least I would is the one that I was less familiar with. Okay, so fun fact I read this that going back to the predator Jake Busey's character in Gary. Oh, wait, no, he's using the predator. Okay. speaker-0: No, that's not my number four. V. C. J. The Predator. speaker-1: His character is last name keys. He was like one of the lab guys, one of the scientists. That's Gary Busey from Predator two. It's his son. Okay. Neat. like that. Yeah, they never say it or whatever. But it's that's that's a fun little tidbit that I learned. ⁓ Predator to watch this one again a couple of nights ago. It's a direct sequel to the first one. They at least did something different. It's in the jungle. speaker-0: His last name. Okay, that's. speaker-1: you don't need to know how the predators in the in the I mean, it's in the ⁓ jungle. It's in the city. It's in Los Angeles. It was made in 90. But it's set in like 97 or 97. speaker-0: 1990. Only seven years in future. speaker-1: kind of weird that I thought that was kind of that's something I hadn't remembered like the dystopian future of seven years from now. Um, yeah, well, yeah, was they tried to do something a little bit different. The predator was cool. He missed speaker-0: Well, here's the thing. It's Kevin Peter Hall again. So you have the it feels familiar, right? It feels like the same predator from the first movie. Same type of movements, which he's just awesome. I mean, his presence is like, holy crap. That's the predator. Yeah, right. ⁓ speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. And they keep they do what they didn't they keep him hidden for Yeah speaker-0: Yeah, keep him hidden from most of the movie. I mean, even though they don't really have to, everybody knows what the predator is at this point. Yeah. But they kind of keep it there because the characters don't know. this is the only one I rewatched for this. And it's the same reason you did, because it's the one I'm probably the least familiar with. Like, for some reason, I didn't watch this one growing up. We just didn't watch. speaker-1: Okay. Same. speaker-0: And it could be because it wasn't well received and most people quote unquote didn't like it. So I guess maybe that's why. ⁓ I think the biggest issue with the movie is I think Stephen Hopkins just shit the bed with the directing. I think the directing is awful. There's too much ADR. So they obviously had sound issues. So they had to go back into the studio and dub over the voices. And that is so distracting to me. I hate that in movies. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. speaker-0: So more than half of this movie's ADR, probably almost all of it. ⁓ But just the directing was bad. Everybody's delivery of lines wasn't good. just overall it's bad and it's all actors. speaker-1: Yeah, I mean this the girl is the girl from running man, right? ⁓ she was bad He was maybe my favorite part. He was so over the top. That's yeah, you don't even realize that it's crappy directing because he's just being built. speaker-0: But I mean, that's how he is in every Gary Busey didn't get enough screen time to really be awesome. Because that that character had a lot of potential to be awesome. You know, he's a prick. I mean, it's Gary Busey, right? Right. a bad guy. I mean, he's still awesome. The few times you see him. But ⁓ yeah, I just I think the biggest flaw is the directing. I don't think it's the concept. I think it kind of like Predators. I mean, speaker-1: Yeah. Another big. ⁓ speaker-0: issue is it's just the execution and they kind of missed it. know, I think it's cool being between a gang war between the Colombians and the Jamaicans and the police and all of that. I'm fine with all of it. Just, I don't know, just they... ⁓ speaker-1: It. And I liked it a lot better because I've seen it. speaker-0: Yeah, I don't hate it. I have it higher than full. speaker-1: I liked it better this time around than I remember ever liking it. Like I wasn't even gonna watch it again I was gonna put it at the bottom and I'm glad I didn't because I Enjoyed I didn't I was Possible. Yeah, it was it was gonna be bottom too. Um, and then I mean at the at the end all the different predators come out You know people crap the bed when they saw right? was you know more skull. speaker-0: was going to put it at the bottom, but it was possible. the alien skull or the xenomorph. speaker-1: So it was, yeah, I surprised myself with how high I ranked this. speaker-0: And I mean, look, I love Danny Glover. speaker-1: delivers one of the greatest lines in the history. speaker-0: And he gets to say vagina face. Okay. But even he wasn't all that good. ⁓ He was too much. speaker-1: It was very, she, walked into the room and exaggerated. speaker-0: Dude, all of his... Yeah, he has no tactics whatsoever. It works in lethal weapon, but it doesn't work in this. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. But having said that, better than predators, better than the predator. So my number three, this may be controversial. But again, I recently watched it and liked it way better than the first. Not that I didn't like it the first time, but pray. Pray is my number three. Different. It's a jungle setting, but it's back in, you know, this was a 1600s Native American. speaker-0: Yes, yes. Okay. Sooner 1700s. speaker-1: ⁓ this movie to me suffered from I'm going to tell you what would have made it better. The movie should have been like the dialogue. Okay. It's Native Americans from the 1600s and they're speaking like we speak today, not like not like the phrases that they use in this like just you and me having a conversation took me out of it at times. Right? I think that the movie should have been recorded and I think they did. But I think it should have been studio interference, right? speaker-0: They didn't want it. They didn't want people to read subtitles. speaker-1: It should have been in their native language and it should have been subtitled. You could have cut out probably 50 % of the dialogue, still knew what was going on. And I think it would have been a better experience because like I liked it. The predator was awesome. The setting was awesome. The whole, ⁓ you know, she's a hunter. He's a hunter, that kind of thing. ⁓ one thing that I thought before watching it, one thing I thought, like I rolled my eyes, like, how is this? 100 pound Native American girl gonna defeat a predator. She didn't beat it up. She didn't kick its ass. She used her. speaker-0: Yeah, they had to figure out a way for her to outsmart it because even Arnold couldn't kick his ass. speaker-1: Right. So and she did she her brother helped but she used her agility and intelligence and tactics and she kind of defeated it. And I thought that was awesome. I really enjoyed that aspect of it. Let's see what else I have here. I had to take notes because I forget things. The the tomahawk on the leash I did not like. ⁓ speaker-0: I liked her brother. I remember her brother being bad to the good fight with the predator. speaker-1: the bone. Yeah, brother. Yeah. ⁓ speaker-0: Hmm. speaker-1: I liked it. I think it's... speaker-0: There's a lot of bad CGI. I remember the animals looked terrible. So did the wolf. Wouldn't there a wolf that looked terrible? speaker-1: The lion looked really bad, but. That's what it was a wolf. ⁓ but the the the scenery that it was a beautiful movie. Yeah, but some of the CGI definitely did suffer. but I liked like I liked the characters. I liked the girl. I liked the brother. I liked the you know, they she was conflicted with the right. You can't be a hunter. You're just a girl kind of thing. That was ⁓ I think that was well done. She had that that conflict to deal with. I liked it. I liked it more than I thought I would. And as I was going through my ranking, it made it a little higher than I originally thought. that's I have you cannot have my water. speaker-0: than what I've Henry's made a. speaker-1: and appearance speaking of predators speaker-0: Yeah, this is what happens when you do a live. speaker-1: as as he dips his his tail into my now get out of my cup of beverage. Go go go go. should have him do a ranking. Okay. Well, so yeah, that's my that's my number three. So now we're up to our ⁓ our top two. Anything else that you want to add? ⁓ speaker-0: No, I haven't I've only seen pray once and I did enjoy it. But you know, I've already said what I didn't really like about it. Yeah. I did. I was bothered by the language we talked about it. It should have been in ⁓ their native tongue. very annoyed right now, but I won't let that get us down. speaker-1: That's right. We're going to finish the game. What was that from? speaker-0: We're going to finish the game. speaker-1: Yeah, let's finish the game. speaker-0: I mean... speaker-1: For me, I shall finish the game. speaker-0: I don't know. speaker-1: That is young guns. See the first one or the second one. See what I did there. ⁓ When he plays Billy the kid is the first one. Second speaker-0: It's one of the ones with Emilio Estevez. or the second. So you did hear they're making a third one. speaker-1: I did not hear that. That's awesome. They are doing a third one. I'll be watching that. So are we good? we back? Yeah. ⁓ speaker-0: I mean, nobody may be watching, but it's going to be recorded. speaker-1: But Chad, you still with us Chad? speaker-0: I don't think he is. probably went on about his life. speaker-1: Yeah, I went on about his business. That's OK. That's OK. speaker-0: We do. speaker-1: Okay, as much for ourselves as for the fans. So. speaker-0: Before we were so rudely interrupted by Riverside failing us. ⁓ speaker-1: we're to we were about to jump into number two the penultimate to meet an ultimate ⁓ choice. Now listen, so let me let me say look, I mean, there's only two movies left. There's predator and predator badlands. I had a difficult choice to make. Okay. Yes. speaker-0: There's only two movies left. Before you say anything, if Predator is not number one, I will probably punch you in the face. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. That's okay. Good to know. Okay. Good to know. so having said that with fear of you all saw it, that's an, ⁓ that's an assault. in Louisiana, that's an assault, the violence. I had a difficult choice to make because I, well, I'll explain it to you. I watched bad lands again last night. I'd seen it once before. speaker-0: of How was this difficult? speaker-1: watched it again last night. I speaker-0: You're right, Chad. That is very disappointing, especially to a 16 year old boy. At least I have a girl. I have an excuse. She's not interested in that, but Alex should have been shown. speaker-1: Yeah. That's a right of passage. He should have seen it at this time. How old is he 16? He should have seen it as many times as we have. So yeah, Badlands. I love it. I love Badlands. It's my number two. Okay. The original predator will is now and will always be the best one because it's the original. It's got Arnold. It's got all the awesome stuff. getting ahead of myself. Badlands. speaker-0: Yeah speaker-1: Is gonna be one of those movies that I can put on any time and watch I loved it Yes, after watching it again last night. I I loved it. I was hooked from beginning to end. ⁓ I think a lot of it has to do when when the trailers came out for this We we thought we neither one of us were very excited. We thought it was going to I have Poo-poo. Yes, but then we started here and one person watched it said it was great. Well speaker-0: Really, you feel strongly about it? Jeffrey from Red Dark Terrain was like, dude, this is good. was like, smoke a little little crack. Then we heard it's not true. Then we heard Donovan say, dude, the movie was awesome. Right. speaker-1: Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Maybe, Jeff. Yeah. You know, as he does. That's not true. Like, okay, Donovan is we we got to kind of take with a grain of salt sometimes because he gets excited. gets very excited, right? That don't excite us. Especially with Star Wars is awesome. And it's not so speaker-0: Right. I, you and I love you. Yeah, we do love you. We both were avoiding it for the same reason. And look, not to mention the trailer didn't look speaker-1: Good all the trailer didn't the trailer looked like a CGI man That was the issue for me because the trailer was a lot of when he was fighting the tree creature thing Yes the beginning when he lands on the planet of Gena, which I actually remembered because I like the movie so much ⁓ It just didn't look great. It looked like a like a mess speaker-0: And the whole idea of him carrying around L fanning and all like, none of it looked. speaker-1: Didn't look very appealing. ⁓ However, this movie has things in it that no other Predator movie has. You get to see them speak in their language and communicate with each other. Again, subtitled the way she starts speaking with them, but it's explained like I'm going to speak and you're going to hear your language because she's a damn robot. Of L. Fannie made the movie for me. She was she played the two characters. I loved her. She ⁓ She was like the the precocious innocent kind of version of the Android and everything was just kind of fun and games and jokes and she reminded me of Ella Purnell. She was innocent. Right. She reminded me of Ella Purnell in ⁓ fallout in the fallout series. ⁓ I loved her. She was funny. The movie was funny. The Predator was unintentionally funny. Like when he killed the bone bison and she was all excited and like what was your favorite part? And he says when my blade pierced it in half and the blood was running down my face. Like that's hilarious. ⁓ speaker-0: I like the fact that ⁓ he was a runt. speaker-1: was he was a run he had to prove himself and he did. ⁓ speaker-0: give away too much because Chad hasn't seen it yet. But ⁓ the sorry, the dad, or his father and his brother were awesome. speaker-1: everything that happened from when the movie started until it ended is the reason why the the planet was alive and everything on the planet was trying to kill you from the animals to the trees to the grass ⁓ the the speaker-0: That's awesome. Which is what they try to do in Predators. speaker-1: Yes, yes, it's a better it's a much better version of predators. Um, the the main character deck was like the the way they conveyed his anger and his rage and so the some of the CGI is still a little distract yeah, especially the face at times, but you've got to be able to convey the emotions that he was being able to convey in the just the facial features and the way he would yell and the eyes and everything it was like I felt like it was real and like he was because this is the first angry and I loved it speaker-0: This is the first time a predator has, you actually see him going through something all the rest of the time. He's just a killing machine. So you didn't need to see him scared or distraught or. speaker-1: whatever because this movie was about him right the first one like you said it's where he's the predator i i loved it i loved the the ⁓ you did you talk speaker-0: Tagging it. That's right. I'm sorry. Chad saw badlands. He said he hasn't seen prey. Yes. speaker-1: ⁓ Okay, so Chad knows what we're talking about. ⁓ They brought the Weyland-Yutani in, doing what they do best, trying to take biological living organisms and weaponize them. speaker-0: Are we going to have a crossover? That's the big question we should I mean, they wouldn't put that in here. They weren't planning on doing it. speaker-1: the I think so and then there's got to be more to it because at the end of the movie something happens where you're like, ⁓ he's got this other thing. deal with now ⁓ the fight scenes between everything from between him and the brother to him and the nature to him and the dad at the end. ⁓ Just if you watch it real close, they do some really, really cool stuff. the between the sword and all his other weapons. He he has an Arnold moment where he prepares and makes his own. yeah. And to fight the androids and all that stuff. So it's it harkens back to the original, but it does its own thing. And it's it's like I said, it's one of those movies that I'm going to watch over and over again. I loved it. speaker-0: Yeah, they did a great job with him being the runt and all of that. Because at first I was like, man, L.Fanning is like really, really tall, right? Well, she's actually five foot nine. So she is tall. And the actor is only 5'11". So he's my height or our height. We're basically the same height. So he's, mean, he's, I mean, not small, but most people who played the Predator are like four and above or six, five and above. speaker-1: She They're really. He was five feet tall speaker-0: Van Damme who was supposed to be the lobster. He's like what 5758 speaker-1: that as being humorous. ⁓ So so Predator Badlands was the biggest surprise. And it is my number two, only because the original is the original. Yeah. So let me. Okay. Predator the original is my number one. It's the best one. But Badlands is my favorite. Does that make sense? No, it's alien. It's alien all over. It's alien all over again. Alien three is not the best alien movie. It's my favorite one. Star Wars Episode Four is not the best Star Wars movie of the original trilogy. It's my favorite one. Badlands is probably not the best one. It's my favorite predator. ⁓ but like predator, the original predator. My favorite one to watch. speaker-0: Well, that's a hot tea. speaker-1: Maybe I'm making maybe I'm not speaker-0: understand what you're saying. You're saying it's easier to sit down and just throw on predator badlands and predator. ⁓ so many times. And here's where I wholeheartedly disagree. ⁓ Predator is a borderline horror movie. It's scary. That's true. The Predator is scary. You're seeing guys who are sir get just completely destroyed. And, you know, speaker-1: is Yes. best of the best of the best. Yeah. speaker-0: have no chance against this. speaker-1: not like a rag tag, which is again what the predator trying to do. speaker-0: So I love that. And I think that's what makes Predators so special. had Arnold who was the man right in 1987 or 86 whenever this came out 87 and going against Kevin Peter Hall who is a seven foot one predator. Like, I will watch that. speaker-1: Right. speaker-0: any day of the week. And I will enjoy that more than Predator Badlands Predator Badlands was just refreshing to me. It was fun. Yeah. And the best sequel by far by far bar none speaker-1: Nothing's gonna come nothing came close so far speaker-0: But that's all it's it'll ever be to me is the best sequel. speaker-1: I can't have predator badlands without the original predator. I agree. Predator is probably if we had to sit down and make a top 10 list of movies that we can only watch these 10 movies for the rest of our lives. Predator would be running. ⁓ It's near I say a masterpiece. genre. speaker-0: it is it's probably great. One of the greatest sci fi movies ever made. There's no doubt I mean, because it it's sci fi but it's not you know, like, you feel it feels more like Oh, maybe it's an action movie because of the soldier speaker-1: It's the height of those those over-the-top actions, but it's done so well Let's just throw an alien creature in there and you don't know that like I wonder when this first came out people watching it for the first time did they even know what they were getting into so Predator is is the number one I knew that I would not be able to I thought about it But then I caught my head and it is it is number one. ⁓ speaker-0: And let's just throw an alien creature in. No idea. No idea. I'm not sure you'd have been able to come back in here if you would have speaker-1: Yeah, and I know that I wanted to be invited back so Part of it Yeah, I mean they they won't they will never be able to recreate that speaker-0: decision. No, no. That's those one of those lightning in the bottle deals there never. speaker-1: they tried and that's where they're failing is that they've tried. Man, Badlands came close. speaker-0: predators tried it. But didn't I mean, they're like, Okay, we got to try to get them back. We to get back in the jungle. We need to try to capture that lightning but just failed. You know, they just failed to do it. And predator to say, No, we're not going to do that. We're going to do it in an urban setting. And they failed, but not really. I just think that it just kind of suffers from cheesiness not so much. speaker-1: fail. The idea was great. some. speaker-0: what they were doing. my list is number six predators. I think that that is just horrible. speaker-1: Okay. That surprises me. thought you would have the predator. speaker-0: The Predator is number five. Only because we actually had fun watching it. When you and I rewatched Predators, I had no fun watching it. I was bored to tears. speaker-1: Yeah. And we rewatched it in an attempt to like, okay, maybe it's not as bad. Yeah, let's give it another chance. Yeah. speaker-0: been a couple of years. I watched it in my man cave at the other house trying to go in with a fresh perspective and just bored to tears like I just don't like it at all. The Predator. It's a mess. It's nonsensical and a lot of a lot of times the editing is horrible. But we still had fun watching it. speaker-1: Yeah, plus Olivia, man. speaker-0: ⁓ Number four is prey. Number three is predator to number two is badlands and then number one is predator. Okay, so there's no doubt badlands is the best thing since the original. speaker-1: Okay. Okay. think it's enough to be said a franchise this old with this many movies, the newest one is the number two spot. That's that's not a that's not speaker-0: Which is odd. Because even even Romulus, where they had all the potential in the world, they still didn't didn't capture the best sequel after Aliens. So, yeah, Predator 2, I did not dislike it as much as I thought I did after the rewatch. Yeah. And that's why I had to put it over prey because I remember really liking prey, but not liking it enough to where I've only seen it once. And I've never had a desire to watch it again. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ speaking of that, I brought props and we Forgot the physical media guys when I have not seen this. I just I just got this a couple of weeks ago when we started talking about this. I ordered this off Amazon. And it's weird because all the Blu-rays are first and then all the four K's, but they're all out of order. I thought that was kind of OK, yeah, that's how they came there in the they're in the thing out of order. ⁓ speaker-0: So. Yeah, we're supposed to be showing these off. Amen. And that's how they speaker-1: But I've watched them all. They all look. It was in a shrink wrap. I don't know. They work fine. Did the code work? Yeah, digital. OK, with. speaker-0: wasn't used? digital code. If the digital code worked, it's not used because what I've had happen to me two different occasions. I got movies that were re shrink wrapped saying, it's new. And both digital codes didn't work. They had already been claimed. So people buy them claim the digital code and then sell the or sell them. speaker-1: Yeah. So yeah, it yeah everything works ⁓ Just thought that's kind of weird. They're out of order. ⁓ This is the also the prey The audio on prey and the audio in on Badlands on the 4k's are both fantastic I was I was in my little setup that I have I was dodging things and so you speaker-0: And you said it sounds awesome. Yeah, this one's Dolby Atmos. I'm sure Badlands is too. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, it is. I believe it is. Yep. Yeah, the sound on both of them was great. I was scared that because the first time I saw Badland was was streaming. I was scared that watching it on physical ⁓ watching the disk would be like the CGI would jump out a little bit more. It was it wasn't really that bad. ⁓ And it was dark in parts and maybe that's probably why trying to hide some of that stuff. speaker-0: Both dope. Pray? Yeah. speaker-1: or Badlands. ⁓ But I mean, it's they're both they're both fun. The other audio was was worth the price of admission. Just the audio was was fantastic on both. So well, so that's my that's my opinion. I thought I honestly thought we would have lined up a speaker-0: ⁓ yeah the fight with the loading robot. ⁓ Very similar to Alien. speaker-1: ⁓ yeah. very similar. Yeah. Yeah. That's speaker-0: And whenever I saw that thing, was like, ⁓ here we go. They're going to do it. speaker-1: Yeah, and it was awesome. It was great. I saw the comment fight with the loading robot and I thought he was referring to the stream like maybe something was not I wasn't like I said, it's been a long week. Um, yeah, there were there's so much to love about about Badlands. But having said all that, I'm predator is the only one that I haven't rewatched within the last couple of weeks or so. So I'm gonna think I'm gonna go home and speaker-0: ⁓ yeah, no no. He's not very quick this guy. I want you Yeah, you need to rewatch it. So you can get your head right. Yeah. About saying that Predator Badlands is your favorite. speaker-1: I'm listening. I'm confident and I'm sticking with it. I think that predator badlands for now tastes change things change. I might watch the original tonight or over the weekend and you're gonna be like, damn, what was I thinking? This is back and speaker-0: record this mess. Nelson, we need to edit. It's bad enough. I'm going to have to edit all this because I got two different streams now. speaker-1: Yeah, I have to split. It wasn't my fault. speaker-0: No, it wasn't his fault. ⁓ wasn't even the internet's fault. Last time it was the internet's fault. This time it was Riverside. speaker-1: R IV, your s ID, Riverside. thanks. Thanks. Our one viewer for yeah, Chad. Thanks for hanging out. You're the man. And Alex, Alex too. ⁓ yeah, Alex is might've stuck around. speaker-0: Yeah, that's very annoying. I now they're watching Predator. So go enjoy the movie chat. Everyone else you'll probably see this after it's not live. So like, subscribe, tell your friends. We'll catch you on the next one. speaker-1: See ya.
