- 0:00Speaker 1: Happy Mother's Day, everybody. Happy Mother's Day, Carl, thank you,
- 0:10Speaker 1: and to all the mothers out there, that's happy Mother's Day.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We appreciate and love you.
- 0:15Speaker 2: You know. Closing sad to say, there are people who
- 0:23Speaker 2: have mothers that they don't have a good relationship with,
- 0:28Speaker 2: and I want to employ you to change that. I
- 0:33Speaker 2: know a very famous guy, uh when I won my
- 0:36Speaker 2: first Image Award and I had thanked my mother, and
- 0:44Speaker 2: I think I said something to the fact that I
- 0:47Speaker 2: wish she was here. I remember saying something, and as
- 0:51Speaker 2: I walked off stage, this very famous guy said to me,
- 0:56Speaker 2: I wish I felt that way about my mama, but
- 0:58Speaker 2: I ain't spoke to her in ten years. And I
- 1:01Speaker 2: stopped and I said, bro, you need to fix that.
- 1:06Speaker 2: He said, no, you don't understand what happened. I said,
- 1:08Speaker 2: I may not, but you need to fix that. I
- 1:14Speaker 2: don't know what happens between a child and their mother
- 1:18Speaker 2: where they don't speak. I've seen it happen up close before,
- 1:22Speaker 2: and it's alarming to me because there's a scripture that says,
- 1:27Speaker 2: honor thy mother and our father and that days on
- 1:30Speaker 2: this earth will be long. Also, I just don't understand
- 1:40Speaker 2: how it gets to that point. But if it's gotten
- 1:42Speaker 2: to that point for whatever reason, let me say something
- 1:45Speaker 2: to you. You need to fix this because let me
- 1:47Speaker 2: explain something to you. Whatever mistake your mother has made,
- 1:52Speaker 2: whatever you think, you gotta remember, she's also not only
- 1:55Speaker 2: your mother. She is a human being, and human beings
- 1:59Speaker 2: make mistakes. They do it all the time. Nobody is
- 2:03Speaker 2: exempt from that. But the fact that you've managed to
- 2:07Speaker 2: hold it for so long it will serve you no
- 2:10Speaker 2: good in the event of her demise. I know another
- 2:15Speaker 2: person who didn't have a relationship with their mother and
- 2:17Speaker 2: then their mother passed. And man, this boy right here,
- 2:22Speaker 2: he was crushed on so many levels. And I had
- 2:27Speaker 2: told him, I said, man, you need to clean this
- 2:29Speaker 2: up for something happened. Nah. Man, it's cool the way
- 2:32Speaker 2: it is, But that will come a day when you
- 2:34Speaker 2: will lose this person who gave you life. And I'm
- 2:39Speaker 2: gonna tell you something. There will be no words for you,
- 2:44Speaker 2: that will be no comfort for you. There ain't nothing
- 2:47Speaker 2: nobody can say to you. You're gonna wear this one
- 2:50Speaker 2: on me. You're gonna wear this one whether you want
- 2:54Speaker 2: to or not, because theres several of us on this
- 2:58Speaker 2: show have lost her and I'm telling you it is
- 3:02Speaker 2: a major, major loss. And I don't care if you've
- 3:06Speaker 2: been cool with her, hung out with her, love to
- 3:08Speaker 2: cherish her, or you had disagreement with her. If I
- 3:11Speaker 2: was you, I would fix that because they are the
- 3:14Speaker 2: one person that brought you into this world and you
- 3:19Speaker 2: owe them for that. You just do. Now. I know
- 3:22Speaker 2: that's people that's gonna disagree with me, because social media
- 3:24Speaker 2: is just that way. You know. I get trolled all
- 3:27Speaker 2: the time of our comments I make. But I have
- 3:29Speaker 2: the right to have my own opinion about something. What
- 3:32Speaker 2: I'm giving you is what I think and feel. What
- 3:35Speaker 2: I'm giving you is what I have seen happen repeatedly.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You have got to clean up this relationship with your
- 3:43Speaker 2: mom because she's vital, She's important. You know what. You're
- 3:47Speaker 2: probably old enough now to be able to say, you
- 3:50Speaker 2: know what, I'm sorry, let's start over. You're probably old
- 3:56Speaker 2: enough now to say, you know what, I forgive you
- 4:00Speaker 2: for whatever happened. I don't want us to spend another
- 4:04Speaker 2: Mother's Day without communicating with another because one day we're
- 4:08Speaker 2: not gonna be here for each other. It's just an
- 4:12Speaker 2: important relationship. And you got to remember something that I've
- 4:15Speaker 2: had to learn about forgiveness. Forgiveness is not for the
- 4:19Speaker 2: other person. It's for you, because every time you think
- 4:25Speaker 2: about her and what happened and what caused the rift,
- 4:30Speaker 2: or what you're blaming her for, it conjures up something
- 4:34Speaker 2: in you. Bishop Jake said it best. He said, not
- 4:39Speaker 2: forgiving a person is like you drinking the poison, waiting
- 4:43Speaker 2: on them to die. That's really what it's like. I
- 4:48Speaker 2: had to forgive somebody this year who had done me
- 4:52Speaker 2: ohso wrong, and I had to forgive them this year.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And you know what, I felt better after I did it.
- 5:01Speaker 2: And you know why, because now when I think of him,
- 5:04Speaker 2: it don't conjure up those thoughts because I've let it go. Naw,
- 5:09Speaker 2: You're not gonna get me again. I'm not gonna forget it,
- 5:13Speaker 2: but I have forgiven you for it. This is a
- 5:17Speaker 2: time to make it right with somebody who gave you life.
- 5:22Speaker 2: This is the time to consider, just for a moment,
- 5:25Speaker 2: that this person that you are holding accountable for whatever happened,
- 5:30Speaker 2: is a member of the human race. And there is
- 5:35Speaker 2: none perfect, no, not one. Even my mother wasn't perfect,
- 5:40Speaker 2: and I thought she was. I never saw my mother
- 5:44Speaker 2: do nothing wrong. I never heard my mama cuss nothing,
- 5:50Speaker 2: but I'm pretty sure my mother did something wrong. But
- 5:54Speaker 2: the thing I'm great about, the thing I'm grateful for,
- 5:57Speaker 2: is I honored her and my father until they left
- 6:01Speaker 2: this world, and I honored them to this day. Because
- 6:04Speaker 2: you can't say nothing about Ilosville Harvey, not to me
- 6:08Speaker 2: and not to my brothers. You can't open your mouth
- 6:10Speaker 2: about it, and she been gone twenty eight years. Say
- 6:15Speaker 2: somebody and see what happened. In the words of all
- 6:18Speaker 2: the young people on site, on site, make it right
- 6:24Speaker 2: with your mother. Happy Mother's Day. All the mother's out there,
- 6:26Speaker 2: and we all here owe all of you our life
- 6:29Speaker 2: and thank you for giving it to us. Those are
- 6:32Speaker 2: our closing remarks today. Hey, y'all talk to God Today'd
