- 0:00So we're starting today with a look at Dubai.
- 0:03A key metric there is pointing towards some really
- 0:07significant economic momentum. It certainly is.
- 0:11The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, you
- 0:15know, DIWA, has reported a major, major uptick
- 0:19in its Al -Namus service. Al -Namus. OK, what
- 0:23exactly is that? Well, it provides fast track
- 0:26electricity connections for new projects. Okay.
- 0:30And when they say fast, they really mean it.
- 0:32The service gets connections up to 150 kilowatts
- 0:36live within just five days. Five days. Wow. I
- 0:40mean, for developers in, you know, commercial,
- 0:43residential and industrial sectors. Yeah. That
- 0:46speed has to be a huge competitive advantage.
- 0:49It's no wonder the numbers are up. Oh, and they
- 0:52are way up. DUA registered an 18 .74 % year -on
- 0:58-year increase in these connection requests in
- 1:002025. Wow. Reaching a total of 9 ,786. So this
- 1:07growth, it really reflects a robust pipeline
- 1:09of new projects right across the Emirate. It
- 1:12sounds like it's more than just an operational
- 1:14success then. Right. It seems strategic. Oh,
- 1:19it is. Diwa's leadership sees this as absolutely
- 1:22fundamental to the city's future. The MD and
- 1:25CEO, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayyar,
- 1:28he placed this achievement right in the context
- 1:31of that ambitious Dubai economic agenda, the
- 1:34D33. And he was very clear, wasn't he, about
- 1:38how this all fits into the bigger picture. Absolutely.
- 1:41He said, and I'll quote him here, Okay. Right.
- 2:11Yeah. Wow. That's a powerful statement. It's
- 2:26literally connecting the dots from a simple,
- 2:29you know, efficient service directly to the goal
- 2:33of becoming a top three global city. And I guess
- 2:36the how behind all this efficiency, it's all
- 2:39about technology, right? Oh, completely. This
- 2:43isn't about, you know, paperwork and waiting
- 2:45in queues. The person overseeing this area, Rashid
- 2:48bin Humaydan, who's the executive vice president
- 2:51of distribution power at Diwa, he highlighted
- 2:54that the authority and... and I'm quoting him
- 2:56again. Go on. Adopts the latest technologies
- 2:59and solutions to enable consultants and contractors
- 3:02to complete all their transactions securely and
- 3:05seamlessly anytime and anywhere through DUA's
- 3:09smart app and website. So it's a clear example
- 3:12of these smart government services acting as
- 3:16a direct catalyst for economic growth. You remove
- 3:20the friction, you accelerate development. Precisely.
- 3:24It's a foundational element for achieving all
- 3:27of Dubai's long -term ambitions. So here's a
- 3:30question we'd like you all to think about. As
- 3:32cities become more and more competitive, How
- 3:36critical is the speed and the digitalization
- 3:38of essential public services, you know, like
- 3:41getting electricity, to attracting and retaining
- 3:44global business?
