- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Hi, I'm Kate Dresden, and welcome to Kate's devotional podcast.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I drop my podcast every Wednesday.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: It's always a five minute or less devotional to bring you encouragement as we try
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: to live our lives according to the Bible.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: So glad you're here.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I think a lot of Christians would say they find themselves in a position where they
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: don't always know what to do.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I know that's my case.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: I think that we have three common responses to big things that come up in our lives,
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: and maybe they'll sound familiar to you as well.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: For instance, I've been saying, Lord, I don't know what to do.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Or when we say, God, I can't handle this problem.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: And last but not least, when we say, Lord, I just feel uneasy about my future.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: So as with any problem we face in life, let's see what the Bible has to say.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: So let's start with when we say, I don't know what to do.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Because many times stuff gets complicated and there isn't an easy fix.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: But when we look in the Bible, it shows us the important thing to do is to ask for God's guidance.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Like King David, he did that a lot.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And we know this because he wrote many of the Psalms.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And just one example would be like in Psalms 25,
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: where David writes in verse 4,
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: we see life through just a small lens,
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: but God has access to the whole picture.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And God doesn't want us to stumble.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: He wants to help us find our way.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So let's move on to the next one when we say, I just can't handle this problem.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Because many times our issues are big and sometimes way too big for us to handle on our own.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And we need God's help.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So we'll do well to remember,
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: like in Jeremiah 32,
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: 27,
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: where it tells us nothing is too hard for our savior.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And I am so glad nothing's too hard for him.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: He's never surprised by what happens in our lives.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, after all, He allows things into our lives.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Nothing happens to us that hasn't been run past Him first.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: I think that's comforting.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: So is there anything you're hanging on to that you need to let go by giving it to God?
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Because don't forget, 2 Corinthians 12 9 tells us that His power is made perfect in our weakness.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, and last but not least,
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: What about when we are scared about our future?
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Because the future is unknown.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Thinking about what's gonna happen or what could happen can be very unsettling.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Life would be so much easier if we just knew what was ahead of us, right?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Well, it would help us to answer questions like, is now a good time to change careers?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Or how are we gonna be able to afford to send the kids to college?
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Or should we make that move so that we're closer to family?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: there's so many big life altering questions and all these things,
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: they just feed into a sense of worry.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: So when it feels like the world is spinning too fast,
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: we got to remember our security lies in Christ alone.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: He is our anchor.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Remember in Matthew six verses 31 through 33,
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: he tells us that we shouldn't worry about like what we're going to eat or about
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: what we're going to wear,
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: but we need to seek him and his righteousness first.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Our focus needs to be on seeking God and God alone.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: We need to be dependent on him for everything.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So friend, what is troubling you today?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Oftentimes we don't have all the answers, but thankfully we know the one who does.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is, have you surrendered it to him?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to do that today because I'm going to be doing the same.
