Latest / The Dream Team / Dream Team: Week 4
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time to set your lineup with the dream team.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Here's Jim Zoki and John Halpin.
- 0:09Speaker 2: All right, the last game on a Sunday will be
- 0:11Speaker 2: the Panthers and the Detroit Lions. And last week, John,
- 0:15Speaker 2: with the Panthers and Browns, it was a rock fight
- 0:17Speaker 2: for the two offenses. This should not be that way.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Of course, one never knows. But the way both teams
- 0:23Speaker 2: are stacking up, I mean, this should have plenty of points.
- 0:25Speaker 2: The Lions score a lot of points and they give
- 0:27Speaker 2: up a lot of points. So In both ways, if
- 0:29Speaker 2: they stick to that, it should be an interesting contest
- 0:32Speaker 2: for Fantasy League owners who've got players in these games.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Sunday Night Football will not be boring this week,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and the defensive injuries are going to help the cause
- 0:42Speaker 1: of the fantasy stuff. It's going to be... They should
- 0:45Speaker 1: be lighting it up on both sides. I'm looking forward
- 0:47Speaker 1: to a fun one.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Where do you want to start? Do you want to
- 0:50Speaker 2: start with the Lions skill guys?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. We knew coming into the season that they
- 0:54Speaker 1: were going to be loaded fantasy-wise, and that's That's come
- 0:57Speaker 1: to pass, not for every single person. But so far,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I mean, we talked in the preseason about, let's start
- 1:03Speaker 1: with Jared Goff, that all these other, let's say, elite
- 1:07Speaker 1: quarterbacks are getting drafted above him. And, you know, we
- 1:09Speaker 1: like the running guys, you know, Lamar and Josh Allen
- 1:11Speaker 1: and people like that. But Jared Goff, the last two years,
- 1:14Speaker 1: has been a top 10 quarterback. This year, he's QB6.
- 1:17Speaker 1: He's got eight touchdowns, no interceptions, 802 passing yards. So
- 1:20Speaker 1: that's kind of, that's a pretty good amount so far.
- 1:23Speaker 1: He's doing great fantasy-wise because they, you know, good offensive
- 1:26Speaker 1: skill players. He's a good quarterback. They have a bad defense.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So they're going to, when they win games, they're going
- 1:31Speaker 1: to win 31-28.
- 1:33Speaker 2: And he's got, I'm on Ross St. Brown. And I
- 1:36Speaker 2: guess he's probably, I know what he's doing in real life.
- 1:38Speaker 2: How high up the chart is he in the fantasy
- 1:40Speaker 2: league world as far as receiver goes?
- 1:42Speaker 1: He is wide receiver too. You know, he was drafted
- 1:45Speaker 1: in the first round and he's living up to that
- 1:47Speaker 1: so far. He's got five touchdowns already in three games,
- 1:49Speaker 1: 23 for 228 on 35 targets. So he's not getting
- 1:52Speaker 1: tons of yards yet, but the touchdowns are carrying him.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And and the volume is going to carry him. And
- 1:56Speaker 1: the guy's catching almost eight passes a game and he's
- 1:57Speaker 1: probably going to keep that up.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And look, I'm in three fantasy leagues is going to
- 2:02Speaker 2: happen almost every week where I've got somebody going against
- 2:04Speaker 2: my beloved Pampers. And in this case, it's Sam Laporta,
- 2:07Speaker 2: the tight end. What do you expect a pretty solid
- 2:09Speaker 2: day from him?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, he's okay. You know, he's not, they're not focusing
- 2:14Speaker 1: on him a lot. I mean, they're, they're so far, the,
- 2:17Speaker 1: the target hogs have been Gibbs and Amon Ra. And
- 2:20Speaker 1: so Sam Laporta so far, he's okay. He's been tight
- 2:22Speaker 1: end 15. And again, that's, That's kind of dependent on
- 2:25Speaker 1: touchdowns for the tight ends. We like to talk about that.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But 14 catches in three games for a tight end
- 2:29Speaker 1: is not too shabby.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And you mentioned Jamar Gibbs. We talked to you earlier
- 2:34Speaker 2: when it was draft time. Is it him or Bijan Robinson?
- 2:38Speaker 2: So early results, which one is the better one as
- 2:41Speaker 2: far as three games? Is it Gibbs or Robinson? I mean,
- 2:44Speaker 2: it's kind of like you can't go wrong with either one,
- 2:46Speaker 2: first of all.
- 2:47Speaker 1: You can't. But we talked in the preseason about how
- 2:49Speaker 1: Gibbs was the choice between the two, like that we
- 2:51Speaker 1: were pretty firm on that. And so far, so good
- 2:54Speaker 1: on that part because he's got six touchdowns. The guy,
- 2:58Speaker 1: with David Montgomery gone, Gibbs is getting all the touches.
- 3:02Speaker 1: He averaged 18.8 touches last year. He's averaging 27.7 this year. Now,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I think they should probably try to scale that back
- 3:08Speaker 1: a little. But if he's going to get that kind
- 3:09Speaker 1: of volume in this offense, he is going to just
- 3:12Speaker 1: explode in fantasy football. And so far, I mean, yards
- 3:16Speaker 1: from scrimmage per game, he's over 154 touchdowns. He's got
- 3:21Speaker 1: the six touchdowns, like we said. He's getting all the
- 3:23Speaker 1: volume he can handle. Look, if you could switch B.
- 3:26Speaker 1: John Robinson and Jameer Gibbs, switch teams, I would be
- 3:29Speaker 1: taking B. John Robinson here. But, you know, B. John's
- 3:31Speaker 1: on the Falcons and Gibbs is on the Lions, and
- 3:33Speaker 1: the Lions offense is going to score a lot more points.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yep, more solid quarterback play overall so far. So let's
- 3:39Speaker 2: flip it over to the Panthers. And as we all
- 3:41Speaker 2: projected through three weeks, the number one passing yardage quarterback
- 3:45Speaker 2: in the league is, of course, Bryce Young, as we
- 3:47Speaker 2: all knew he would be.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Amazing. Amazing. Even after last week, which, well, last week
- 3:51Speaker 1: he did get a lot of yards because they were
- 3:53Speaker 1: trying to come back in the fourth quarter, but he
- 3:54Speaker 1: threw a lot. But yeah, Bryce has been great. Looks
- 3:58Speaker 1: like a good week. I mean, look, they're down another
- 4:00Speaker 1: offensive lineman with Damian Lewis getting hurt. So the pass
- 4:04Speaker 1: rush from the Lions could threaten them if the Lions
- 4:06Speaker 1: had a better pass rush, which, you know, just overall
- 4:09Speaker 1: their defense is not that great. But like we said,
- 4:11Speaker 1: we think they should light it up. And I think
- 4:13Speaker 1: that Bryce Young's fantasy status this week, I want to
- 4:16Speaker 1: start him I really want to see what Jalen Coker's
- 4:19Speaker 1: status is first.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yeah. And that we don't know we're recording early on
- 4:24Speaker 2: a Wednesday. So everyone monitored that during the week because
- 4:28Speaker 2: he was coming off the ankle. Then it was the quad, uh,
- 4:31Speaker 2: all the reports, including from the national guys who are
- 4:34Speaker 2: never wrong because they're handed the information. Let's get that clear. Um,
- 4:37Speaker 2: you know, although you can wrap up, they're not guessing.
- 4:40Speaker 2: It's like, if the FBI shows up at your house,
- 4:41Speaker 2: there's a reason they're there. Um, it's like that. He, um,
- 4:45Speaker 2: It feels pretty much like a 50-50 ball, questionable. And
- 4:48Speaker 2: we'll just, I guess, see how he reacts to practice
- 4:50Speaker 2: on Wednesday and Thursday. And if he's sore or whatever,
- 4:53Speaker 2: you know, then it would be tempting as a Panther
- 4:56Speaker 2: organization to say, let's give it another week with the
- 4:58Speaker 2: bye week coming up. But yeah, it's a big game.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So I know they want to get him out there
- 5:02Speaker 2: if they can.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a big game. You know, going one and
- 5:05Speaker 1: three would not be great. So they're going to want
- 5:07Speaker 1: Coker to play. And fantasy-wise, if Coker's active against this defense,
- 5:12Speaker 1: you're starting Bryce Young if you have him. You know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you have him. So far, you've been a little, you know,
- 5:17Speaker 1: beginning of the season, you weren't playing. If you had him,
- 5:19Speaker 1: he was on your bench. And then after that second game,
- 5:22Speaker 1: you maybe wanted to play him against the Browns. And
- 5:24Speaker 1: that didn't, you know, which is OK, I guess. But
- 5:27Speaker 1: this week, this is a week you want to get
- 5:29Speaker 1: him in there if Coker's active, because you think he's
- 5:31Speaker 1: going to put up some really good numbers against the Lions.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And what about Coker himself? Like, we know he's good,
- 5:36Speaker 2: but there's always that concern. You start a guy and then, uh-oh,
- 5:39Speaker 2: they're limping off the field. I'm going to get one point.
- 5:42Speaker 2: they barely played in the game or something like that
- 5:44Speaker 2: because of the injury. Like, I guess you just have
- 5:46Speaker 2: to kind of weigh that in your mind with whatever
- 5:48Speaker 2: evidence you have, as far as the risk of that.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:50Speaker 2: He'll play once they announce he'll play. But is that
- 5:54Speaker 2: a wise play? And also it's a Sunday night game.
- 5:56Speaker 2: So you're kind of down to your second to last
- 5:58Speaker 2: game to be able to salvage whatever points you're going
- 5:59Speaker 2: to get.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Like if you hear game time decision for a
- 6:02Speaker 1: Sunday night game, you have to avoid, like for instance,
- 6:04Speaker 1: last week I had Zay Flowers in some leagues and
- 6:06Speaker 1: he was a four o'clock game and I benched him
- 6:07Speaker 1: because I didn't know if he was going to play.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I think if you hear on Friday, that the Panthers
- 6:13Speaker 1: plan to have Coker active. I, I usually lean toward
- 6:16Speaker 1: if a guy is active, he's healthy enough to produce
- 6:19Speaker 1: and I would start him.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Uh, Tedderall McMillan, at least he's not facing Denzel Ward
- 6:23Speaker 2: this week. I mean, there was nothing. I mean, they
- 6:26Speaker 2: just put a five-time pro bowl player on TMAC and
- 6:29Speaker 2: I actually watched some cutups, uh, where they showed the covers.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I mean, he was, there was very little opportunity for
- 6:35Speaker 2: TMAC to get any separation against Ward. He was just
- 6:38Speaker 2: traveling side to side wherever he went. So, Not the
- 6:41Speaker 2: case this week. So you expect T-Mac would be back
- 6:44Speaker 2: to his usual self this week, right?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. I watched a little bit of that, too.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It was good. I mean, that Browns defense is no joke.
- 6:48Speaker 1: You know, at the end, the pass rush was getting
- 6:52Speaker 1: to Bryce. But part of it is you could sort
- 6:54Speaker 1: of see that, you know, he wasn't there. There were
- 6:56Speaker 1: not a lot of options for him, not a lot
- 6:57Speaker 1: of open receivers. So, yeah, I think the Terrell McMillan,
- 7:02Speaker 1: another one. Good matchup. Lots of points expected. And he's
- 7:06Speaker 1: going to get his.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Darren Waller had an expanded role in the offense last week. We,
- 7:11Speaker 2: you know, early on saw him as kind of that
- 7:13Speaker 2: red zone guy, but there was a lot of first
- 7:15Speaker 2: and 10 from the 25-yard line where he was out
- 7:17Speaker 2: there as part of the set.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Absolutely. Last week when we talked, I was sort of
- 7:20Speaker 1: dismissive of Darren Waller, basically saying that, you know, if
- 7:23Speaker 1: he doesn't catch a touchdown from inside the five-yard line,
- 7:26Speaker 1: then he's going to go one for six. And that
- 7:29Speaker 1: didn't happen. They threw to him eight times, five for 51.
- 7:32Speaker 1: As tight end production goes, that's pretty darn good.
- 7:36Speaker 2: No. So, again, maybe someone might be out there. We'll
- 7:38Speaker 2: talk about that a little bit later on as far
- 7:40Speaker 2: as pickups go. And, of course, we've got to talk
- 7:41Speaker 2: about Chuba Hubbard, his first game without Jonathan Brooks. He
- 7:44Speaker 2: carried the first 16 rushing attempts in the game, and
- 7:47Speaker 2: they finally brought in A.J. Dillon in the fourth quarter.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I don't know that they'll do that again. By the
- 7:52Speaker 2: end of the game, he ended up with about four
- 7:54Speaker 2: yards per carry. But, man, for the longest time, it
- 7:57Speaker 2: was like 12 carries, 14 yards. It was just like
- 8:01Speaker 2: he was running into a brick wall of a stacked box,
- 8:03Speaker 2: and they were forcing the Panthers to go elsewhere with
- 8:05Speaker 2: the offense.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah, they were. Uh, but, but AJ Dillon, like you said,
- 8:08Speaker 1: he was the, he was the breather. It was not,
- 8:11Speaker 1: it's not a tandem like it was with Brooks. It's
- 8:13Speaker 1: like it was planned to be. I know Brooke probably
- 8:15Speaker 1: Chuba got up in the first couple of games, got
- 8:17Speaker 1: more work than we might've expected. But, uh, this is,
- 8:20Speaker 1: this is Chuba's backfield and 23 touches. I mean, he he's,
- 8:25Speaker 1: he's going to get all the work he can handle
- 8:26Speaker 1: and this is a good week to get it. All right.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So that's Panthers and Lions and, uh, Panthers are favorite
- 8:33Speaker 2: or not favorite? The Lions are favorite, right?
- 8:35Speaker 1: Lions are favorite. Three and a half last I checked, yes.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, gotcha. I figured with the way the Panthers
- 8:40Speaker 2: came up that Cleveland didn't. All right, so let's look
- 8:43Speaker 2: at some injuries, obviously some notable ones here. I have
- 8:46Speaker 2: one of my three leagues, John, where I'm 0-3, and
- 8:48Speaker 2: I put it all on Puka Nakua because the first
- 8:50Speaker 2: week he played, but he didn't do much. And in
- 8:53Speaker 2: the last two weeks, he didn't play. And both those
- 8:55Speaker 2: losses were like my five, six points. And I just
- 8:58Speaker 2: know if I had him going instead of Jalen Waddell
- 9:00Speaker 2: or whoever I had going in those leagues, he would
- 9:02Speaker 2: have carried me through. There's some optimism, at least early
- 9:07Speaker 2: in the week, the way Sean McVay is talking. Again,
- 9:09Speaker 2: we're early in our week too. But he kind of
- 9:11Speaker 2: started talking last weekend about hopeful Nakua will play. So
- 9:15Speaker 2: I guess for fantasy owners like me who've been waiting,
- 9:18Speaker 2: we'll keep watching, of course, but it looks like some
- 9:20Speaker 2: optimism there.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah, optimism. You know, saying on Monday that you're hopeful,
- 9:24Speaker 1: I always kind of go, hopeful? Really? Like I wasn't, yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 1: we really think he's going to play. It's hopeful is
- 9:29Speaker 1: kind of an interesting word that doesn't, make me feel
- 9:32Speaker 1: warm and fuzzy about him playing, but hopefully he'll play.
- 9:36Speaker 2: He did do pregame warm-ups out there, so he's been
- 9:38Speaker 2: doing some work out there, so that's the only thing
- 9:41Speaker 2: that I'm hanging on to right now. If not, it's
- 9:43Speaker 2: whatever with him. But for some other injuries of note,
- 9:48Speaker 2: for the season, for Dolphins, the guy, I feel like
- 9:51Speaker 2: he gets hurt at some point every year, Devin Achan,
- 9:54Speaker 2: out for the season with an ACL.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That is a rough one. I mean, he was the
- 9:58Speaker 1: only thing going on in the Dolphins. offense, and he
- 10:01Speaker 1: was probably an early second-round pick for you in fantasy.
- 10:04Speaker 1: So I know that we get through three weeks every year.
- 10:07Speaker 1: We go, oh, this is the worst injuries I've ever seen.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's the same thing every year, but that's a really
- 10:12Speaker 1: rough one to lose him for the season.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I remember one of my drafts, it was the last
- 10:16Speaker 2: one I did, He was on the board. You know
- 10:18Speaker 2: that classic, you're in the draft, and he goes to
- 10:20Speaker 2: pick right before you're going to make the pick. You
- 10:22Speaker 2: got in a queue. Somebody grabbed him like, ah! And
- 10:24Speaker 2: now three weeks later, they're going, again, sorry for the
- 10:27Speaker 2: injury for the human being. Ah, yay! It can destroy
- 10:32Speaker 2: your year. It's like they say, not having Puka Nukua,
- 10:34Speaker 2: having those early first, second-round picks can really set you back.
- 10:37Speaker 2: There's just no replacing them. Brees Hall doesn't sound like
- 10:40Speaker 2: a long-term injury there, but certainly impacts what's going on
- 10:43Speaker 2: with the Jets rushing rotations.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it looked bad when he first got hurt and
- 10:47Speaker 1: it sounded bad. And then, you know, as the week
- 10:48Speaker 1: went on, I know it's only Wednesday, like we said,
- 10:50Speaker 1: that we're recording, but latest word is he might only
- 10:53Speaker 1: miss one to two games. So if you've got Brees
- 10:55Speaker 1: Hall in the third or fourth round, not so terrible.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Can we use the word hopeful for Nico Collins? Hopeful.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I think so. This one sounds like he's going to
- 11:07Speaker 1: play and they need him badly. That's a team in
- 11:11Speaker 1: dire straits at this point. they've got a good matchup
- 11:14Speaker 1: against the Cowboys too for Nico. So that's the perfect
- 11:17Speaker 1: spot for him to come back. He's been out two weeks.
- 11:20Speaker 1: It sounded initially like it wasn't that bad. Hamstrings can
- 11:22Speaker 1: be tricky, right? You kind of never know. But that one,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm kind of, if I have Nico, which I do
- 11:27Speaker 1: in the league, I'm planning toward him playing and, you know,
- 11:31Speaker 1: we'll adjust accordingly if he doesn't.
- 11:33Speaker 2: All right. The Vikings, of course, on a roll. They're 3-0.
- 11:36Speaker 2: They got the offense going. Great coaching staff there. Justin
- 11:39Speaker 2: Jefferson concerned at first the way that injury looked with
- 11:42Speaker 2: the ankle. But if he misses this week, it doesn't
- 11:45Speaker 2: sound like he'll be that long. And he might even
- 11:47Speaker 2: play this week, right?
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah, this doesn't sound like a bad one. It's not
- 11:51Speaker 1: a high ankle sprain, apparently, which is good news. So
- 11:54Speaker 1: hopefully he can fight through the pain a little bit,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and it's not too bad this week. But yeah, if
- 11:59Speaker 1: he misses, it doesn't sound like it'll be a long-term absence,
- 12:01Speaker 1: like you said.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Buccaneers are a tough watch right now. And then Baker
- 12:05Speaker 2: Mayfield goes down with a thumb injury. Who's the kid
- 12:09Speaker 2: like from Kansas or something, like undrafted kid that's backing
- 12:12Speaker 2: him up? Is he the starter now, Jalen?
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yeah, Jalen Daniels.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Jalen Daniels.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Is supposed to start. And I got some people saying,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you know, hey, you might want to look into starting
- 12:20Speaker 1: Jalen Daniels. Don't do that, everybody.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Just don't.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Like, I mean, come on. He's– he can– I think
- 12:28Speaker 1: he's a bit of a runner. I'm going to be
- 12:31Speaker 1: completely honest that I'm not totally up on the Jalen
- 12:33Speaker 1: Daniels stuff. But, yeah, I don't know. Let's see. Running
- 12:36Speaker 1: last year, yeah, at Kansas– 400 yards, three and a
- 12:40Speaker 1: half a count. He ran 117 times. Doesn't sound like
- 12:44Speaker 1: he's lightened up running either. I don't know. That sounds
- 12:46Speaker 1: like it could be a struggle.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Someone's going to grab him thinking they're getting the Washington
- 12:50Speaker 2: Commanders quarterback and then realize this.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's like picking up B. Robinson running back from the Falcons,
- 12:56Speaker 1: but it's the wrong B. Robinson.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Oh, I got Brian. Good. I got Brian Robinson, his cousin.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Speaking of old Buccaneers, Mike Evans, Niners have this thing
- 13:06Speaker 2: where they hurt all their wide receivers, but some of
- 13:08Speaker 2: them are able to score points. And here, too, that
- 13:11Speaker 2: looked worse on the field than I guess it is
- 13:13Speaker 2: because there's an opportunity he might play this week, right?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, possibly. It's a rib injury they're saying day to day.
- 13:19Speaker 1: All those injuries, it just makes Christian McCaffrey go, wait,
- 13:21Speaker 1: how many passes do I have to catch again this week?
- 13:23Speaker 2: Eight? Nine? All right. If you got him, that's good
- 13:27Speaker 2: news if you got McCaffrey there. Speaking of running backs
- 13:29Speaker 2: who do it all, Travis A. Chan, the former Jaguar
- 13:33Speaker 2: with the new Orleans now, but hamstring injury, that's never
- 13:37Speaker 2: good for a running back.
- 13:38Speaker 1: No, it's going to sound like he's out for a
- 13:40Speaker 1: bit and the saints are going to have to do
- 13:41Speaker 1: a mishmash of, of running backs, which none of them
- 13:45Speaker 1: sound like a great option, but yeah, it could be
- 13:47Speaker 1: a few weeks. It sounds like.
- 13:49Speaker 2: All right. So speaking of which running backs and the
- 13:51Speaker 2: waiver wire that might be out there, this is like
- 13:54Speaker 2: going back like five, six years ago, remember Alvin Kamara? He's,
- 13:58Speaker 2: He's out there in a lot of the leagues, right?
- 14:00Speaker 2: Because people obviously knew that A-Chan was going to be
- 14:02Speaker 2: the main guy for New Orleans.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and the first week when Kamara came back in
- 14:06Speaker 1: week two, he didn't put up any numbers and he
- 14:07Speaker 1: looked terrible. And a lot of people, myself included, look
- 14:10Speaker 1: at him going, oh, Alvin Kamara's done. Last week, not
- 14:13Speaker 1: so done. So I think he probably will kind of
- 14:17Speaker 1: be in a timeshare with Kendrick Miller, if I had
- 14:18Speaker 1: to guess. And Kendrick Miller was a healthy scratch in
- 14:20Speaker 1: week two. I think he came back in week three,
- 14:22Speaker 1: played a little bit. I don't know what they're going
- 14:23Speaker 1: to do. If you start a Saints running back this week,
- 14:26Speaker 1: you are taking a huge risk. You can pick one up,
- 14:28Speaker 1: stash them on a bench, see how it goes. I'd
- 14:30Speaker 1: rather not start one. Kamara, if you're in a pinch
- 14:33Speaker 1: with a couple of other injuries, maybe.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Braylon Allen getting a lot of chatter this week with
- 14:39Speaker 2: the injury to Hall. So, right, that's a couple-week injury
- 14:43Speaker 2: for Hall?
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like one to two. Braylon Allen's a
- 14:46Speaker 1: good short-term fill-in. They drafted him pretty high. He missed
- 14:50Speaker 1: a lot of last year with an injury, but he's 36%
- 14:53Speaker 1: rostered in Yahoo. Playing against the Bears, whose defense is
- 14:57Speaker 1: not that great. He should lead that backfield. And I
- 15:00Speaker 1: think he's a pretty talented back. So that's the guy who,
- 15:03Speaker 1: among all the free agents, I would like to start
- 15:05Speaker 1: this week if I had him.
- 15:07Speaker 2: All right. There's always some decent named quarterbacks out there.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So there's always some opportunities at that position to grab somebody.
- 15:13Speaker 2: And I would say support local, right? Daniel Jones, Charlotte product,
- 15:17Speaker 2: Duke product. And he's got a good matchup. I know that,
- 15:20Speaker 2: but commanders are not really good on defense.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yes, Daniel J. Dimes playing in London Sunday morning against commanders.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Not so great. The way the overrun is working, the
- 15:29Speaker 1: projected point total for Indy is 25.5. Now, I know
- 15:32Speaker 1: they don't have Alex Pierce anymore, but Josh Downs getting
- 15:34Speaker 1: plenty of work. Throwing to Tyler Warren, plenty. Keenan Allen
- 15:38Speaker 1: caught six passes last week on a bunch of targets.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So I think they could put up some good numbers
- 15:44Speaker 1: offensively against Washington. And Daniel Jones, 21% rostered on Yahoo.
- 15:48Speaker 1: If you lost one of your other quarterbacks, need someone
- 15:50Speaker 1: in a spot start, it could be him.
- 15:53Speaker 2: What's out there in the world of wide receivers that
- 15:55Speaker 2: might be, at least for this week, have a good matchup?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Again, I like that matchup for the Colts. So I'm
- 15:59Speaker 1: not being a Colts homer right now, but Keenan Allen,
- 16:01Speaker 1: six for 63 and a touchdown last week on nine targets.
- 16:05Speaker 1: He's available. I mean, I'd love to say, hey, go
- 16:07Speaker 1: get Josh Downs, but you can't get him. You can't
- 16:09Speaker 1: get Keenan Allen. He's 26% rostered. So pick him up.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Maybe Chris Bell in Miami. This is a little bit
- 16:13Speaker 1: of a strike. Picking up anybody in the Miami offense
- 16:15Speaker 1: is kind of a risk. Chris Bell, the rookie, I
- 16:17Speaker 1: think he was a third round pick 5% rostered. They're
- 16:20Speaker 1: playing at Minnesota, which is a tough one. But last week,
- 16:22Speaker 1: he got on the field more. He was four for
- 16:24Speaker 1: 67 on seven targets. Lots of talent. Big, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: big receiver. He could become their primary soon. I mean,
- 16:31Speaker 1: primary receiver in a bad offense, not awesome. But if
- 16:34Speaker 1: you need to pick something up, someone up for an
- 16:36Speaker 1: injured player, such as Puka or Justin Jefferson or something
- 16:38Speaker 1: like that. Or maybe Nico if he doesn't play. Chris Bell, maybe.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'd rather stash him on my bench, but he's worth
- 16:43Speaker 1: a shot at picking up.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So maybe you'll be surprised, but I saw Josh Downs
- 16:47Speaker 2: on the waiver wire in one or two of my leagues.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Should I do it?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. All over it.
- 16:54Speaker 2: All right. Tight end. I don't even know the guy's name. Gadsden.
- 16:59Speaker 2: The guy I got for the Chargers last week. And
- 17:01Speaker 2: you wrote it after I picked him off. I'm like, sweet.
- 17:03Speaker 2: This will be huge. He got me what's less than one? Zero.
- 17:06Speaker 2: He got me zero points last week. And now I
- 17:10Speaker 2: see you've got Kenyon Sadiq. Well, guess who I dropped
- 17:12Speaker 2: him for and picked up this week? Kenyon Sadiq. We
- 17:15Speaker 2: have a make good week this week. Sadiq had like
- 17:18Speaker 2: 100 yards last week.
- 17:19Speaker 1: He did. I think his his production depends a bit
- 17:24Speaker 1: on if Donovan Mitchell is active, which he wasn't last
- 17:28Speaker 1: week like that. That made Sadiq the number two target
- 17:31Speaker 1: in the receiving game. Could be a little different if
- 17:33Speaker 1: Mitchell's back again, though, if you're picking up a tight end,
- 17:37Speaker 1: it's like, you know, well, it's not like you're passing
- 17:40Speaker 1: up Sadiq for some guy who's going to get a
- 17:41Speaker 1: hundred yards, most likely. I mean, you might want to pass.
- 17:45Speaker 1: If Mitchell's active, Darren Waller could be a better option
- 17:48Speaker 1: than Sadiq because Darren Waller is rostered in 17% of
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yahoo leagues right now. And the way he was used
- 17:53Speaker 1: last week, that that's definitely an option. I kind of
- 17:56Speaker 1: like Sadiq. I think the jets are going to try
- 17:58Speaker 1: to start using him more. I like the matchup against
- 18:00Speaker 1: the bears, but you know, again, it kind of depends
- 18:03Speaker 1: on if Mitchell is active and I know you maybe
- 18:05Speaker 1: can't wait for that. So, If I had to lean one,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'd lean towards Sadiq.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't have their best running back, and they're
- 18:11Speaker 2: usually losing for the ball. The subject of tonight, I
- 18:15Speaker 2: have this unusual knack of playing Dalton Kincaid all the
- 18:19Speaker 2: wrong weeks. I played him last week. He didn't do anything.
- 18:23Speaker 2: The week before, he had like 140 yards and a touchdown.
- 18:25Speaker 2: So I go, I got to put him in my
- 18:26Speaker 2: lineup this week. I took out Tyler Warren. The complete
- 18:29Speaker 2: wrong thing to do. I love when my GM makes
- 18:31Speaker 2: the worst decision that if I just not done anything.
- 18:35Speaker 2: That's the worst. If I had done nothing, I would
- 18:37Speaker 2: have had a better lineup than what I ended up doing.
- 18:38Speaker 1: You have Dalton Kincaid and Tyler Warren?
- 18:41Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That's good.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I know.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Trade Tyler Warren because Dalton Kincaid is– like I
- 18:48Speaker 1: was about to say to you, Dalton Kincaid should be
- 18:50Speaker 1: a locked and loaded starter every week the way the
- 18:52Speaker 1: Bills are using him so far this season. But if
- 18:54Speaker 1: you've got Tyler Warren, that's a different story. So that's
- 18:57Speaker 1: a nice problem to have. I think exploring Tyler Warren
- 18:59Speaker 1: trades is a good idea for you.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Or maybe I should just double my odds and put
- 19:03Speaker 2: one as a flex and just not eliminate them based
- 19:06Speaker 2: on the fact that they're tied down. So that's that
- 19:10Speaker 2: defense is I did actually pick up the Browns. I
- 19:13Speaker 2: know that you've got them there. And I feel like
- 19:15Speaker 2: it's because I just saw them in person. I was
- 19:17Speaker 2: really impressed with that Browns defense, really all three levels.
- 19:20Speaker 2: So I think they can get sacks. They can get takeaways.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Pittsburgh Thursday night. What do you think about that matchup
- 19:26Speaker 2: as far as streaming a defense like Cleveland?
- 19:27Speaker 1: I think that's a really good one. They're playing home
- 19:29Speaker 1: against Aaron Rodgers. I know the Steelers put up a
- 19:32Speaker 1: bunch of points last week, but it was against the Bengals.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I think the Browns hosting this deal, like the Browns
- 19:37Speaker 1: could be three and one at midnight on Thursday. Just like,
- 19:40Speaker 1: you know, Mike Tomlin saying Brown's going to Browns. As
- 19:43Speaker 1: great as he's been on Sunday night football, I think,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know, Todd Monken's going to have something more to
- 19:48Speaker 1: say about that. But, you know, 4% ownership, you can
- 19:53Speaker 1: get the Browns everywhere. I think that's a really nice
- 19:55Speaker 1: streaming defense this week. I picked them up in my
- 19:57Speaker 1: biggest league already.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I think offensively they're hot and cold, but that
- 20:01Speaker 2: defense looks really solid for them. And yeah, Green Bay
- 20:04Speaker 2: is another opportunity. Is that because of the quarterback situation
- 20:06Speaker 2: with Tampa Bay?
- 20:07Speaker 1: Definitely. Rookie quarterback, you never know what can happen. It's
- 20:11Speaker 1: more likely to be bad than good in this case.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So the Packers, you can get them in two-thirds of
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yahoo leagues. I think they're a solid pickup.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I'm guessing whoever the Tennessee Titans are playing is a
- 20:19Speaker 2: good week every week, right?
- 20:20Speaker 1: Defensively? I don't have in front of me who the
- 20:23Speaker 1: Titans are playing. Cam Ward, what a struggle. I watched
- 20:26Speaker 1: a lot of that game. What a struggle. He just
- 20:28Speaker 1: misses people. It's not going well there for him. They're
- 20:31Speaker 1: It doesn't look like there's light at the end of
- 20:32Speaker 1: the tunnel. I know it's early in his second season,
- 20:34Speaker 1: but oof.
- 20:36Speaker 2: No one ever knows, but he felt like a little
- 20:38Speaker 2: bit of a paper number one pick when they took him.
- 20:41Speaker 2: He's the best quarterback this year. Well, maybe there's not
- 20:44Speaker 2: good quarterbacks this year, and you should just at least
- 20:47Speaker 2: wait on your quarterback as far as the organization went. Seattle,
- 20:51Speaker 2: you talk about Jadarian Price. What do you think about
- 20:54Speaker 2: him not playing him this week, you think?
- 20:56Speaker 1: I would bench him. Last week, they said he had
- 20:58Speaker 1: a chest injury, but he also looked like after he fumbled,
- 21:01Speaker 1: he got yanked for a while. And Emmanuel Wilson got
- 21:04Speaker 1: a bunch of work. George Helani got some work. It
- 21:08Speaker 1: almost seems like there's a committee going on there right
- 21:10Speaker 1: now until they gain some more trust in Price. I mean,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I know what Mike McDonald said after the game. Oh,
- 21:14Speaker 1: he's fine. It's okay. No big deal. Yeah. Well, let's see.
- 21:18Speaker 1: They took him off the field for a while after
- 21:19Speaker 1: he fumbled, and I'm not feeling totally confident about him
- 21:21Speaker 1: in the short term.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Brock Bowers, I mean, I guess it was the right
- 21:26Speaker 2: move to get that meniscus cleaned up a little bit
- 21:28Speaker 2: because he, like, got all the stats in one game
- 21:30Speaker 2: that he would have gotten in three games.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, like, he came out in the first quarter there
- 21:35Speaker 1: and they basically said, hey, let's throw to him every
- 21:37Speaker 1: play and see what happens. 13 targets, 10 for what's–
- 21:41Speaker 1: 116 in a touchdown. A lot more of that came
- 21:43Speaker 1: from everybody. As long as he stays healthy, he's going
- 21:45Speaker 1: to be a fantasy monster.
- 21:47Speaker 2: All right. And our final segment before we get to Matt,
- 21:49Speaker 2: whether there are possible questions he might have this week. Matt,
- 21:52Speaker 2: you have to have a question this week because you
- 21:53Speaker 2: sat out last week just to warn him. Fun was
- 21:55Speaker 2: to actually be with Tyler Shuck. I told you I
- 21:57Speaker 2: picked him up as a backup quarterback. I've not used
- 21:59Speaker 2: him yet, but obviously it'll be a bye week or
- 22:01Speaker 2: an opportunity to use him. He's been terrific for the Saints.
- 22:05Speaker 1: He really has. And we talked about that in the
- 22:07Speaker 1: preseason bit because he runs a little. They throw a lot.
- 22:12Speaker 1: They play at a fast pace, which means the volume's high.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You know, like the just literally number of plays is
- 22:17Speaker 1: more than almost everybody else, I think. Yeah. I like
- 22:21Speaker 1: him as I, I mean, he's going to have some
- 22:23Speaker 1: warts as a, and he's not super talented. What is he?
- 22:26Speaker 1: 38 years old? No, he's not 38. I'm kidding. He's 26.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Right. Well, a lot of these kids are not kids
- 22:32Speaker 2: when they come out of college.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Right. But wasn't he Justin Herbert's backup somewhere in college
- 22:38Speaker 1: came out last year. He's leading the league in attempts
- 22:42Speaker 1: and completions because they throw so much. And if they
- 22:44Speaker 1: throw that much, the yards are going to come and
- 22:46Speaker 1: the touchdowns are going to come. So he's, He's not
- 22:48Speaker 1: a sexy fantasy quarterback, but he's pretty solid.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Josh Allen, we know he can do it with his legs,
- 22:55Speaker 2: not with just the arms, but he's off to a
- 22:57Speaker 2: quick start as far as just the rushing part, right?
- 23:00Speaker 1: Six touchdowns rushing in three games.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Three games.
- 23:03Speaker 1: It's insane. If I had James Cook on my fantasy team,
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'd be enraged.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I do.
- 23:08Speaker 1: You know that this is part of it with Josh Allen,
- 23:10Speaker 1: that that was going to happen. I don't know if
- 23:12Speaker 1: I would have expected six in the first three games,
- 23:15Speaker 1: but here we are. We talked last week. Wouldn't it
- 23:17Speaker 1: have just been, you know, oh, let's wait on quarterbacks.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Let's do this. I mean, it's so simple. It sounds
- 23:22Speaker 1: so simple to have drafted Josh Allen in the second round.
- 23:25Speaker 2: No doubt. Well, you know, I've been waiting. In two
- 23:27Speaker 2: of my leagues, I got Jeremiah Love, and he finally
- 23:30Speaker 2: came through. It took a while, but I just figured
- 23:32Speaker 2: you go that high to draft a guy, you're going
- 23:34Speaker 2: to figure out a way. That's one thing to want
- 23:36Speaker 2: to and then being able to, but I think they
- 23:38Speaker 2: kind of unlocked Jeremiah Love in Arizona this past week
- 23:41Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Definitely, and I think– You know, I would have loved
- 23:44Speaker 1: one more week of low touches so that you could
- 23:45Speaker 1: buy low from someone in a trade. I think that
- 23:47Speaker 1: window is probably closed. But yeah, if you have Jeremiah Love,
- 23:50Speaker 1: you got him in the third round. Good days are
- 23:53Speaker 1: ahead because he's really damn good and he's going to
- 23:55Speaker 1: get a bunch of work.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Then your last stat in this department, top five wide
- 23:59Speaker 2: receivers and targets, which obviously leads eventually to catches, which
- 24:03Speaker 2: eventually leads to touchdowns.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yeah. So the first three, Chris Olave, we talked about
- 24:08Speaker 1: the Saints volume, right? JSN and Amara St. Brown. No
- 24:11Speaker 1: surprises there. Number four, Michael Wilson from the Cardinals, 31 targets.
- 24:16Speaker 1: He's 18 for one 63 and one.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Big week last week. Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Number, number five, Matthew Golden on the Packers, who was
- 24:22Speaker 1: probably a 10th or 11th round pick for you. He's
- 24:25Speaker 1: 15 for two 53 and one. Now his teammate, Christian
- 24:27Speaker 1: Watson is seventh. They're throwing a bunch because they're having
- 24:30Speaker 1: trouble running. Um, also they find themselves in bad spots
- 24:33Speaker 1: where they're losing a lot more than we expected. So
- 24:36Speaker 1: they got to throw, uh, Matthew Golden is, I mean,
- 24:38Speaker 1: they drafted him in the first round last year. He's
- 24:40Speaker 1: really fast, talented, you know, it, This was a good
- 24:44Speaker 1: late-round pick if you got him. It looks like it's
- 24:46Speaker 1: absolutely going to pay off.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Packers and Bears receivers are weird. I don't know in
- 24:51Speaker 2: a given week which of the three to play. They
- 24:54Speaker 2: both have this clump of receivers. On any given week,
- 24:57Speaker 2: it could go off or do absolutely nothing. So those
- 24:59Speaker 2: two ones are head-scratchers for me.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Kalief Raymond. Like, what do you do? How do
- 25:03Speaker 1: you start? You know, all right, I'm not starting Kalief Raymond.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I know it worked out the first week. And then
- 25:07Speaker 1: He got a touchdown on Monday night. I mean, I
- 25:09Speaker 1: don't know what to do there. I agree with you.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And Colston Loveland, who the heck knows what's happening there.
