- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KPI AM six forty the Bill Handles
- 0:04Speaker 1: show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I was on an airplane and I heard from the cockpit, Hi,
- 0:17Speaker 2: this is the captain.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Speaking, and it was a woman's voice.
- 0:22Speaker 2: And I was sitting next to someone I didn't know,
- 0:24Speaker 2: and I remember turning to this man and saying, we're
- 0:27Speaker 2: going to crash.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Listen, life is over women, women, pilots, and now handle
- 0:38Speaker 3: on the news. Ladies and gentlemen. Here's Bill Handle. Hey,
- 0:44Speaker 3: good morning, everybody. Handle here.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It is a Friday, foody Friday. Ask handle anything Friday,
- 0:52Speaker 2: January twenty third, and man, we have a ton of
- 0:57Speaker 2: stuff to cover today. For of all, A Hello, good morning, kno,
- 1:05Speaker 2: good morning, Cono. You have an update.
- 1:10Speaker 4: We have an update. We purchased the car yesterday.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Oh that's fantastic. And can I what kind of car?
- 1:20Speaker 2: It is?
- 1:20Speaker 4: A twenty twenty six Chevy.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Tracks, a brand new car. Yeah, so we talked it over.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I did a couple of days of test driving and
- 1:31Speaker 4: the amount of miles I drive and a used car
- 1:34Speaker 4: didn't make sense.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Buying an extended warranty makes sense. And I asked, can
- 1:40Speaker 2: I ask how much it is? Since we paid a
- 1:43Speaker 2: lot of it. The total was twenty nine wow, so
- 1:48Speaker 2: geez so and we came up with what twenty thousand
- 1:52Speaker 2: and change?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Right, Yes, we ended at twenty thousand and six and
- 1:56Speaker 3: twenty eight.
- 1:57Speaker 2: There you go, And so Cono now gets to drive
- 2:00Speaker 2: in and for a while I do.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And again everyone else has said thank you to everyone
- 2:07Speaker 4: that supported this. I do want to sincerely say thank you.
- 2:11Speaker 4: There was a real conversation had about not working here anymore,
- 2:14Speaker 4: because yeah, absolutely there was no chance we were going
- 2:19Speaker 4: to be able to fund two cars, kids and me
- 2:22Speaker 4: driving this far.
- 2:23Speaker 5: So this helped out a lot.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And yeah, and I want to point something out. Kno
- 2:30Speaker 2: is here because he wants to be here because the
- 2:33Speaker 2: money certainly isn't.
- 2:34Speaker 3: The issue working here.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Actually, you spend more money on gasoline than you actually
- 2:41Speaker 2: earn here.
- 2:42Speaker 5: It's very close.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I do.
- 2:43Speaker 4: It's it's about seven hundred on gas a month just
- 2:48Speaker 4: for work. That's outside of going to like the grocery store,
- 2:50Speaker 4: picking up my kids from school or that's it.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty impressive. Okay, hello to Amy the morning.
- 2:58Speaker 5: You to stay.
- 3:00Speaker 2: We're going to.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Post a photo on the bill Hends.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Oh, yes, we'll get some stuff up on the bill handles.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we got a lot of photos to post
- 3:07Speaker 2: this morning. Neil, good morning, Good morning, Willie Wolf. Okay,
- 3:11Speaker 2: then we have some stuff I want to share with that.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Neil and Amy, good morning.
- 3:16Speaker 6: Hi, Bill, welcome back. How'd the colony go?
- 3:19Speaker 3: I will talk about the colon in a moment.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Will pictures of it? Yeah, you will be able to
- 3:23Speaker 2: see pictures of it. Yes, and there's a there's a
- 3:25Speaker 2: story to that. Will, Good morning to you.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Good morning Bill. Yesterday was your birthday?
- 3:31Speaker 1: It was?
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yes? I'm sure? How old? How old?
- 3:34Speaker 5: Thirty nine?
- 3:35Speaker 3: Thirty nine? I look older? You look so much older
- 3:38Speaker 3: than that. You know how much old? How old are
- 3:40Speaker 3: you really?
- 3:40Speaker 5: Fifty nine?
- 3:41Speaker 3: You still look older than that? You're right?
- 3:45Speaker 2: And if you and if you take that doesn't mean
- 3:47Speaker 2: that he's not awesome. That just means he looks old
- 3:49Speaker 2: as hell? What and if you take off that headset,
- 3:53Speaker 2: the hair on top of your head is absolutely a delight.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's okay. I just don't have any product in it. Yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 3: no you don't. And good morning Anne, Good morning Bill.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Okay, So a couple of things that I want to
- 4:06Speaker 2: share with you. Number one, we'll do the horsebacking story.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Then I'm going to do the horseback story, and then
- 4:11Speaker 2: we're going to do the colon Oscby story.
- 4:14Speaker 6: The horseback story.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, a few days ago I took horseback riding lessons
- 4:18Speaker 2: with Lindsay.
- 4:18Speaker 3: She convinced me to.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Do it, and so sitting what, I hope there's video.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I think she did take video, so we have to
- 4:26Speaker 2: move it over to you and then we throw it up.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And so I'm riding. I'm taking lessons and I'm riding
- 4:32Speaker 2: on a horse. And here's the problem with a lot
- 4:36Speaker 2: of guys go through this. To get on the horse
- 4:39Speaker 2: is a bunch of steps because there's no way I
- 4:41Speaker 2: can do it and swing my legs over. You just
- 4:43Speaker 2: can't do it. You have to know horses. So I
- 4:46Speaker 2: did the steps up and I'm riding along. And here's
- 4:50Speaker 2: the problem for guys to ride on horses. If your
- 4:54Speaker 2: nards are not in the right place as you ride,
- 4:59Speaker 2: it gets real uncomfortable because well, anyways, what I'm screaming,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and I said, Okay, we're gonna do it again, but
- 5:07Speaker 2: I am going to ductate my balls to my upper
- 5:11Speaker 2: thigh because we're not going to be doing that one again.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Okay, that happened with them being in your wife's purse.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Well said, okay.
- 5:20Speaker 2: And the other thing I know you talked about was
- 5:21Speaker 2: my colonoscopy yesterday, and it was it's the prep. Everybody
- 5:27Speaker 2: says that the actual colonosopy is no big deal. We
- 5:30Speaker 2: do have photos of it because they hand you these
- 5:32Speaker 2: photos afterwards, and we're going to do something with those photos.
- 5:37Speaker 2: A few years ago, many years ago, what we did
- 5:39Speaker 2: we used to do events and we would have theme
- 5:41Speaker 2: T shirts and one year we had my colonoscopy pictures
- 5:45Speaker 2: on the T shirts. So we're going to do the
- 5:48Speaker 2: same thing. And we don't and we haven't yet figured out.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And Neil does this. Is it going to be on
- 5:53Speaker 2: a mug? Is it going to be holiday cards that
- 5:57Speaker 2: I hand out?
- 5:58Speaker 5: Sniffs?
- 5:59Speaker 6: Yeah, do the mug because you think about like you're
- 6:01Speaker 6: taking a sip and that's what.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the whole point is very strong. Yeah, that's
- 6:06Speaker 2: that's the point.
- 6:07Speaker 5: I want to put them on air fresheners for your car.
- 6:10Speaker 5: You can hang them from you know what.
- 6:11Speaker 2: That's not you know what that's not. That's not bad either,
- 6:14Speaker 2: you know. So, anyway we're gonna do we're gonna do
- 6:17Speaker 2: something with that. The problem is when you think about
- 6:20Speaker 2: how disgusting it is, it is not because there's nothing
- 6:24Speaker 2: there and you and you do have to pass gas
- 6:28Speaker 2: or which is a ridiculous term for farting uh and
- 6:32Speaker 2: because you you're full of uh CO two, they they
- 6:36Speaker 2: pump CO two into the intestines to open them up,
- 6:39Speaker 2: to stretch them out. So the uh the the kolonos
- 6:44Speaker 2: calling the scope, Yeah exactly, it has plenty of room
- 6:49Speaker 2: to move around and uh. Then they give you the
- 6:52Speaker 2: pictures and I was fine, and it was good.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Now here's yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there were two little tiny polluts that were no
- 6:59Speaker 2: big tiny little lens. Yeah, very common, and so they're
- 7:05Speaker 2: uh so they triple book At Kaiser, I was in
- 7:09Speaker 2: for three at twelve thirty. There were three people ahead
- 7:13Speaker 2: of me, so I had to wait almost an hour.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And the doctor comes around before all of them, and
- 7:20Speaker 2: he gives me the the spiel. You know, here's a
- 7:23Speaker 2: there's a consent form, this is what might happen. And
- 7:26Speaker 2: I said, so am I number three? Goes yeah, you're
- 7:28Speaker 2: number three. I How long am I going to wait?
- 7:30Speaker 2: He goes about an hour And I said to the doctor,
- 7:34Speaker 2: there's two hundred.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Bucks in it for you if you move me to
- 7:36Speaker 3: the front, and I waive a couple hundred bills.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Well, he didn't take.
- 7:44Speaker 3: He didn't take. The bastard didn't take it.
- 7:46Speaker 5: So I about twenty minutes off. If they don't wash
- 7:49Speaker 5: the camera in between.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I think they used different scopes or different different heads
- 7:55Speaker 2: on the scope, so to speak. So anyway, we have
- 7:57Speaker 2: the picture, and it was fine, and it was I
- 8:01Speaker 2: was knocked out this twy year they give you Twilight Sleep.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I didn't want to hear from Twilight Sleep. I wanted
- 8:06Speaker 2: to be knocked out, and so I went ahead and
- 8:10Speaker 2: had myself knocked out with prop the fol and it
- 8:12Speaker 2: was wonderful.
- 8:13Speaker 3: That part of it was great.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And then as soon as and you have to fast
- 8:17Speaker 2: the day before, so we stopped off at the first
- 8:20Speaker 2: fast food place so it could find. It was a
- 8:21Speaker 2: Burger King, and I ordered fried everything, deep fried everything.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Sure Colon loved that.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah it is, I'm back fairly back to normal. Okay,
- 8:32Speaker 2: enough Colon talk, enough enough talk about testicles? Really about yeah?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 8:41Speaker 4: Is it?
- 8:43Speaker 3: No?
- 8:43Speaker 6: Can I say one thing?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Of course?
- 8:45Speaker 6: Okay, So I am so glad that you went and
- 8:48Speaker 6: did this bill because color rectal cancer is now the
- 8:51Speaker 6: leading cause of cancer related yess in the US for
- 8:55Speaker 6: people under fifty. And they're saying that people are getting
- 8:57Speaker 6: it younger, so that you're doing it is going to
- 9:00Speaker 6: help encourage other people to go get this done. Saved
- 9:04Speaker 6: your life.
- 9:05Speaker 2: It is a lifesaver, and it's and catching it early
- 9:09Speaker 2: is you're like ninety eight percent, you know, survival rate?
- 9:14Speaker 3: I mean, just nothing.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And I asked the doctor and I said, how is
- 9:17Speaker 2: it then that young people since, for example, I'm seventy four,
- 9:22Speaker 2: And he said, we're not even going to use your
- 9:25Speaker 2: ten year because you're eight.
- 9:26Speaker 3: You'll be eighty four.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And even if you have colon cancer, it's so slow
- 9:30Speaker 2: moving that you'll die of something else. So this was
- 9:34Speaker 2: it for me, which is a shame because I enjoyed
- 9:36Speaker 2: it so much. And I asked him do you think
- 9:38Speaker 2: And I said, then, how come people die so young?
- 9:41Speaker 2: Pharah Fawcet died I think in her fifties, and other
- 9:44Speaker 2: people die Katie Kurrk, her husband died in his I
- 9:48Speaker 2: think forties, Chadwick Bozeman, Yeah, And I asked the doctor,
- 9:54Speaker 2: how is it that young people are dying of this
- 9:56Speaker 2: if it's one of the slowest moving cancer. He said
- 9:59Speaker 2: that young people who who do get colon cancer, that
- 10:05Speaker 2: colon cancer young is incredibly aggressive and it moves at
- 10:11Speaker 2: a hugely quick rate, where if you catch it at
- 10:15Speaker 2: an older rate, it what it does is move forward
- 10:20Speaker 2: very very closely, I mean very slowly.
- 10:23Speaker 6: Wow, people aren't getting tested for it, which is why they're.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Not true and they're bringing and the colonoscopy is the
- 10:31Speaker 2: gold standard of what's going on. Also, every year Kaiser,
- 10:36Speaker 2: for example, every year now sends out a colorectal test
- 10:41Speaker 2: where you where you test basically you test your stool
- 10:46Speaker 2: to see if there's blood in it or whatever. And
- 10:49Speaker 2: I mean it's a mess because you have to crap
- 10:51Speaker 2: in the sink and you have to I mean it's
- 10:52Speaker 2: just as really a disgusting Yeah, that's what they tell
- 10:55Speaker 2: you to do.
- 10:56Speaker 3: You have to test it in the sink.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to bend over, you have to hump
- 10:59Speaker 2: over and get on the step stool and lean over
- 11:02Speaker 2: you really.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah, So I didn't have to do it in the city,
- 11:06Speaker 3: so I didn't have to do it that way.
- 11:09Speaker 5: No, wow, bastards. It's a little pan that you can
- 11:13Speaker 5: put in the toilet.
- 11:14Speaker 2: No, actually, it's not that at all. It's very very simple.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Uh okay, Uh.
- 11:20Speaker 6: But it's not as accurate as what you were going
- 11:21Speaker 6: to say, right.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Uh No, it just gives you a What it does
- 11:25Speaker 2: is it gives you you have a problem.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Let's find out what it is.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:29Speaker 6: But it also you said the colony is the gold standard. Oh,
- 11:34Speaker 6: my doctor told me that too. He said there's too
- 11:36Speaker 6: many false positives and false negatives.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yes, but there's blood tests and there's a sigmoidoscopy, which
- 11:43Speaker 2: is a very only a small portion of your intestine.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Uh.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And that's where the term a signal or it comes
- 11:51Speaker 2: from from.
- 11:52Speaker 5: At no half hour, wait in your colon.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Okay, let's get into the news, because we spent segment
- 12:00Speaker 2: talking about every important stuff but not particularly part of
- 12:05Speaker 2: the news. Now it's the news. Let's do it. It's time
- 12:08Speaker 2: for handle on the news. Amy Neil and me lead story.
- 12:14Speaker 2: The US severs it's ties with the WHO, which happens
- 12:17Speaker 2: to be a great band by the way, the WHO
- 12:21Speaker 2: World Health Organization amid the flu epidemics, because it makes
- 12:26Speaker 2: no sense. The US is now going to be completely isolationist.
- 12:32Speaker 2: This is very strange because the President has said we
- 12:35Speaker 2: want to be only concerned with the United States, which
- 12:39Speaker 2: we've had that movement before America firsters. And at the
- 12:42Speaker 2: same time he is getting involved in foreign affairs, even
- 12:48Speaker 2: his own. Even MAGA followers are going, wait a minute,
- 12:52Speaker 2: this doesn't make much sense. You're doing exactly the opposite.
- 12:56Speaker 2: So we're out of WHO. And then later on I'm
- 12:58Speaker 2: going to do the story later on about WHO at
- 13:05Speaker 2: seven twenty. But it's I got to tell you, it
- 13:08Speaker 2: says a lot about where this country is going.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I was talking to.
- 13:12Speaker 2: My best friend yesterday or one of my best friends,
- 13:14Speaker 2: Neil being the other one, and that is, you know,
- 13:17Speaker 2: we're just getting Trump fatigue. Yesterday at Davos, I mean,
- 13:22Speaker 2: it was one thing and then five hours later it
- 13:25Speaker 2: was something else. And on the Air Force one it
- 13:27Speaker 2: was something else in terms of what's going on internationally,
- 13:31Speaker 2: and it's just it's become crazy. And this one is
- 13:33Speaker 2: another crazy one.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Tell you why.
- 13:35Speaker 2: You know, it's still one of the worst flu seasons
- 13:36Speaker 2: we've ever had. I mean, it's really bad, and if
- 13:40Speaker 2: not one of the worst, it's pretty bad. And the
- 13:43Speaker 2: World Health Organization is the organization that determines what strain
- 13:48Speaker 2: of flu. You know, what the vaccine is about it's
- 13:52Speaker 2: not we're not part of it anymore. Now, it's not
- 13:55Speaker 2: just we're leaving the health issues. The way it's being done,
- 14:00Speaker 2: it's going to be done privately, is going to be
- 14:02Speaker 2: done the way a term of isolationism if.
- 14:05Speaker 3: You were.
- 14:09Speaker 6: A special grilling for a former Special Council. Special Council
- 14:16Speaker 6: Jack Smith testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee of the
- 14:20Speaker 6: US House of Representatives, first time publicly speaking about it.
- 14:25Speaker 6: He got praise from Democrats obviously, and barbes from Republicans.
- 14:31Speaker 6: The President even weighed in while it was going on,
- 14:34Speaker 6: of course, on social media, he called for Smith to
- 14:37Speaker 6: face criminal charges. Smith told the committee his investigations were nonpartisan,
- 14:43Speaker 6: and he said that there were indeed grounds to bring
- 14:45Speaker 6: two federal indictments against President Trump.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Well, there will be indictments because this is the Department
- 14:52Speaker 2: of Justice, and in front of grand juries, because you
- 14:54Speaker 2: can push anything through a grand jury. For the most part,
- 14:57Speaker 2: there will be no prosecution. If there is a prosecution,
- 15:00Speaker 2: it's going to be embarrassment to the administration. And it's
- 15:04Speaker 2: bottom line, it's real easy. You say you're doing anything
- 15:06Speaker 2: about the administration or Donald Trump, you are on the radar.
- 15:09Speaker 3: You're done. Every time. For example, if Trump wants to
- 15:13Speaker 3: push a bill.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And Republicans, the few Republicans that vote against the administration's position,
- 15:20Speaker 2: he immediately says they're out of office, they are traders.
- 15:24Speaker 3: And I am going to I'm going to primary them out,
- 15:29Speaker 3: and the rest of the Republicans just sit there and
- 15:33Speaker 3: allow it. They just allow it. I mean, it drives
- 15:37Speaker 3: me completely crazy. I've said this before.
- 15:43Speaker 2: If the President Trump wanted and made a move and
- 15:48Speaker 2: convinced Republican legislator, which I'm sure one will do, this,
- 15:53Speaker 2: introduces a bill to dissolve Congress and give the president
- 15:58Speaker 2: all the power that Congress used to have. Do you
- 16:01Speaker 2: think there would be several, if not a reasonable minority
- 16:06Speaker 2: that would vote to dissolve Congress. I believe that Amy
- 16:10Speaker 2: is shaking their head. How about the guy who wants
- 16:12Speaker 2: to put his head on Mount Rushmore?
- 16:16Speaker 3: What do you think about that?
- 16:19Speaker 6: That was Pauline and Luna?
- 16:20Speaker 2: Okay, I mean there are some crazy people.
- 16:24Speaker 6: Yeah, but she's still not going to vote herself out
- 16:26Speaker 6: of Congress.
- 16:27Speaker 2: No, No, she wouldn't. It would s be primaried out
- 16:30Speaker 2: if she wanted to, and she would. I think she
- 16:33Speaker 2: would vote herself out of Congress because I think they're
- 16:35Speaker 2: all lemmings.
- 16:37Speaker 5: Well, Luna is short for lunatics.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah no, but you know, and I may be exaggerating here.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Really I'm a little hyperbolic, but it's really crazy. If
- 16:46Speaker 2: you vote against him in the Senate, in the House,
- 16:50Speaker 2: against any position, You're done.
- 16:52Speaker 3: You're done.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I'm going to primary you out and make sure you
- 16:55Speaker 2: lose the next election.
- 16:57Speaker 5: You may be hyperbolic, but I don't know that we've
- 17:00Speaker 5: ever seen it to this degree?
- 17:02Speaker 2: Is it?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Everyone?
- 17:04Speaker 2: No?
- 17:04Speaker 5: Is there a limit? I think there is, But right now,
- 17:07Speaker 5: theres been this kind of Yeah, there a step.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 2: There have been some court cases in the lower courts
- 17:13Speaker 2: and the appeals court that have shut down a lot
- 17:15Speaker 2: of what the President has done, especially in the world
- 17:17Speaker 2: of immigration enforcement. Uh but yeah, having Queen of Heart vibes, yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 2: you know, you know, and I promise myself every day
- 17:27Speaker 2: I'm not going to talk about Trump and I and
- 17:29Speaker 2: I And you can't do a talk show without talking
- 17:33Speaker 2: about Trump anymore, you can't.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Well, we pretty much did yesterday.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Oh, thank you? All right, So it was it was
- 17:40Speaker 3: colon Osby talk yesterday. I get that.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Not a handle on the news though, Oh okay, here's
- 17:45Speaker 2: a story Handles getting a colon Oskby and here's a
- 17:49Speaker 2: story what was it like?
- 17:50Speaker 3: All right?
- 17:51Speaker 5: Speaking of Bill's colon, another huge tunnel is in the works,
- 17:55Speaker 5: the Supulvida Transit Corridor project. It's going to connect the
- 17:59Speaker 5: west side to the San Fernando Valley less than twenty minutes.
- 18:03Speaker 5: You're going to bypass the four or five freeway and
- 18:06Speaker 5: it's gonna be a thing of beauty, I would imagine,
- 18:09Speaker 5: But don't know where the money's coming from. Yeah, five
- 18:16Speaker 5: billion dollar metro plan is considered one of the most
- 18:19Speaker 5: significant transit projects in the country, So we don't have
- 18:23Speaker 5: a timeline.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to go, as you said, van Issa
- 18:27Speaker 2: Sherman Oaks. There was supposed to be a station at
- 18:30Speaker 2: the Getty Center, and they realize very quickly that the
- 18:35Speaker 2: only people going to go are those that are going to.
- 18:37Speaker 3: The museum, and they're not enough of them.
- 18:40Speaker 2: So it's going to go all the way down to
- 18:41Speaker 2: the west side. Does anybody go to the west side?
- 18:44Speaker 2: People in the valley do not go to the west
- 18:46Speaker 2: side except to work and all the point I guess,
- 18:49Speaker 2: and all the really great restaurants are on the west side.
- 18:52Speaker 3: In Beverly Hills.
- 18:53Speaker 2: We don't have many first class Michelin kind of restaurants.
- 18:58Speaker 3: In the valley very much.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Oh, we have but great cultural restaurants and.
- 19:03Speaker 2: There are there's an olive garden, very cultural Italian restaurant down.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Loved me some olive garden. How dare you so?
- 19:11Speaker 3: Do I actually unlimited breadsticks and salad?
- 19:14Speaker 6: Okay, Well, the troops are stay input for now. Vice
- 19:18Speaker 6: President Vance was in Minnesota yesterday. He said the Trump
- 19:22Speaker 6: administration has no immediate plans to invoke the Insurrection Act,
- 19:27Speaker 6: which would allow it to deploy troops in Minneapolis. He
- 19:31Speaker 6: also said during his appearance that he the administration's trying
- 19:36Speaker 6: to turn down the temperature after weeks of confrontations with protesters.
- 19:42Speaker 6: Vance said the reason why things have gotten so out
- 19:44Speaker 6: of hand is because of a failure of cooperation. But
- 19:47Speaker 6: he says he's optimistic local officials would start being more
- 19:51Speaker 6: cooperative in the days ahead.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Didn't well, probably not.
- 19:56Speaker 2: It's a war that Minneapolis is having with administrator, or
- 20:00Speaker 2: at least with Ice, and it's someone's got to give,
- 20:03Speaker 2: and it's not going to be Minneapolis. You cannot fight
- 20:07Speaker 2: against thousands of army folks that are coming In.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Yeah, no troops, just carpet bombing of Messiapolis.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Helicopter gunships.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I've always thought, you know, that is a cheap way
- 20:20Speaker 2: to enforce the border, just the helicopter gunships just flying
- 20:24Speaker 2: across the border, and God help anybody that tries to cross.
- 20:28Speaker 5: All right, Zelenski, he's going to Europe and he is
- 20:32Speaker 5: not mincing words. Ukrainian president is He gave a blistering
- 20:37Speaker 5: speech at Europe directly during the World Economic Forum yesterday,
- 20:44Speaker 5: but he met with President Donald Trump. Both leaders described
- 20:48Speaker 5: the meeting as good framework documents between the two countries,
- 20:54Speaker 5: hopes of ending this conflict that's nearly four years old
- 20:58Speaker 5: and it's been a full gayl war. And he was
- 21:02Speaker 5: saying that the president Zelensky says that it's like the
- 21:06Speaker 5: movie groundhog Day. It's just every day, another barrage, every oh.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 2: While Putin is talking yes, I'm willing to sit down
- 21:14Speaker 2: and talk peace. The attacks on Kiev and the land
- 21:20Speaker 2: on all of uh, all of Ukraine is just it
- 21:26Speaker 2: just doesn't stop. And Putin saying I want peace, I
- 21:29Speaker 2: want peace. It's just a bunch of crap. But he
- 21:31Speaker 2: wants territory. There will be no peace unless he gets
- 21:34Speaker 2: the don boss in the entire eastern part of Ukraine.
- 21:37Speaker 2: And the President is actually leaning towards Putin, but at
- 21:42Speaker 2: the same time is sending the arms to Ukraine that
- 21:45Speaker 2: hasn't stopped. So and the President says without his involvement,
- 21:50Speaker 2: there will be no peace.
- 21:51Speaker 5: And I believe that, ye think. Pointing at Europe, he
- 21:56Speaker 5: said Europe love, Yeah, Europe. Well, Europe is sending, but
- 22:00Speaker 5: they're not sending enough. He is not asking for boots
- 22:04Speaker 5: on the ground at all.
- 22:06Speaker 2: What he needs is equipment, and Russia has virtually unlimited equipment.
- 22:11Speaker 2: But they've already had a million casualties on the Russian side.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I mean, this is this is a hit on Russia.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Remember Kee was supposed to.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Be taken in three days. It was all supposed to
- 22:22Speaker 2: end in three days. Here we are four years later.
- 22:26Speaker 2: What's the largest loss of life in any war? It
- 22:30Speaker 2: would be probably World War while Civil War. As far
- 22:32Speaker 2: as the Americans are concerned, in terms of sheer numbers,
- 22:37Speaker 2: World War two. Anywhere between fifty and seventy million people
- 22:40Speaker 2: died during World War Two, that includes civilians and certainly
- 22:45Speaker 2: American troops. I think we're at two hundred and fifty thousand.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Relatively small Europe were hugely more. And so many civilians died,
- 22:55Speaker 2: I mean just fifty.
- 22:56Speaker 6: To eighty five million fatalities.
- 22:59Speaker 3: And World War two. In World War two, yep, right on.
- 23:02Speaker 6: And you you said civilians, most of them were civilians.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Well you had what two hundred and fifty thousand dropping
- 23:11Speaker 5: the bomb.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because you had probably one hundred thousand in Hiroshima.
- 23:17Speaker 2: You also had another eighty thousand in Nagasaki.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Then you had a million or sea.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Then you had then you had the carpet bombing of Dresden,
- 23:29Speaker 2: which was basically just a civilian city with no military value.
- 23:34Speaker 2: That was Churchill's big deal as Dresden, and it was
- 23:38Speaker 2: they wiped out the town. Japan, carpet bombed whole areas
- 23:43Speaker 2: of Japan. Yeah, and that's just the Americans, by the way.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And then we're talking about what the Nazis did, as
- 23:50Speaker 2: you can imagine, they wiped out well, they took out
- 23:52Speaker 2: six million Jews, of which all were civilians. Those just
- 23:57Speaker 2: those numbers. It was crazy.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Before we yet to finishing up by handling the news, Neil.
- 24:04Speaker 5: This weekend, actually it's not this weekend, but it's coming
- 24:08Speaker 5: up in May.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Beach Live Festival back coming up in May. Thank you, Ann.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna throw her under the bus. Why, Because I asked,
- 24:16Speaker 2: is it this weekend? Just says yes, it's gonna be
- 24:19Speaker 2: a broad No, I just asked if it was a broadcast.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Okay, I am. It's coming up in May. Why are
- 24:23Speaker 3: we doing it so early?
- 24:25Speaker 5: Because we we want people to get tickets now, Okay.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Really is spectacular. Okay, it's a great venue and the
- 24:33Speaker 5: vibe is very chill. Everybody's having a good time. Beach
- 24:36Speaker 5: Life Festival is back this year at Redondo Beach, May
- 24:40Speaker 5: first through the third, featuring performances by Duran, durand the
- 24:44Speaker 5: Offspring James Blunt, Slightly Stupid. That's a band. I'm not
- 24:48Speaker 5: talking to you, Handle Chromeo, Jon Jet and more. Head
- 24:51Speaker 5: to Beachlive Festival dot com for tickets and info. KFI
- 24:56Speaker 5: AM six forty. The official audio partner for Beach Live
- 24:59Speaker 5: Festival is Duran.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Duran is the lead singer Twins. No.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Okay, moving on more, Handle on the news. Let's finish
- 25:09Speaker 2: it up with Amy and Neil and me.
- 25:12Speaker 6: Some Dems broke ranks. A small group of moderate House
- 25:16Speaker 6: Democrats joined Republicans to pass a bill to fund the
- 25:20Speaker 6: Department of Homeland Security, where there's a lot of curt
- 25:24Speaker 6: controversy because of ICE funding. That overcame a revolt by
- 25:29Speaker 6: most Democrats furious about ICE's aggressive operations in Minneapolis and
- 25:33Speaker 6: other cities. So seven Democrats joined the Republicans. The House
- 25:37Speaker 6: also voted in favor of a package of bills to
- 25:40Speaker 6: fund other federal agencies in a broad bipartisan vote to
- 25:44Speaker 6: try to avert a partial government shutdown, which would arrive
- 25:48Speaker 6: January thirty first if they don't pass it.
- 25:50Speaker 2: All right, so the House, we're still going to have
- 25:54Speaker 2: a shutdown at the end of the month. Yeah, I
- 25:56Speaker 2: think so. However, and the reason we're gonna have a
- 25:58Speaker 2: shutdown because it's only going to be partial because the
- 26:01Speaker 2: both sides of it agreed on certain programs and certain
- 26:07Speaker 2: agencies staying around. So I think so that's my call
- 26:11Speaker 2: on it. But what can I tell you? What do
- 26:13Speaker 2: I know? Very little?
- 26:14Speaker 5: Okay, TikTok is going to keep talking. They said that
- 26:21Speaker 5: they completed a deal to spin off its US operations.
- 26:25Speaker 5: This is going to conclude all that hubbub that's been
- 26:28Speaker 5: going back for years, that battle over the access to
- 26:30Speaker 5: this wildly popular video app that you young folks were
- 26:35Speaker 5: freaking out that it might go away. Millions of Americans
- 26:38Speaker 5: are using this, by the way, so they'll operate under
- 26:43Speaker 5: defined safeguards in this new US joint venture, because the
- 26:47Speaker 5: concern was the Chinese company access to a lot of
- 26:51Speaker 5: American information. But meanwhile, Chinese companies are buying up all
- 26:56Speaker 5: of Los Angeles. But we've got TikTok.
- 27:00Speaker 6: Debunking debanking.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 27:03Speaker 6: President Trump pursued JP Morgan Chase and its longtime CEO,
- 27:08Speaker 6: Jamie Diamond. He accuses the company debanked him by closing
- 27:12Speaker 6: his accounts in twenty twenty one and putting him on
- 27:15Speaker 6: a blacklist. The President is seeking at least five billion
- 27:19Speaker 6: dollars in damages from Chase.
- 27:22Speaker 2: And yeah, and by the way, a lot of people
- 27:25Speaker 2: are shut out of banking, and they're saying, we don't
- 27:29Speaker 2: like what this president has done, and we're just not
- 27:32Speaker 2: letting him bank with us anymore.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Happens all the time.
- 27:35Speaker 2: It's a private institution, and it is well, it's a
- 27:39Speaker 2: non governmental institution and it has the right to do that.
- 27:43Speaker 3: And he only wants five billion dollars on this one.
- 27:45Speaker 3: By the way, Kelly.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Senator Mark Kelly, that is a Democrat from Arizona. If
- 27:55Speaker 5: you remember, he had said some things in a video
- 28:00Speaker 5: that ticked off Trump, and Trump attacked Kelly five other
- 28:04Speaker 5: Democratic lawmakers who participated in the video, even when as
- 28:08Speaker 5: far as to say that they committed sedition, suggested they
- 28:11Speaker 5: should be sentenced to death.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Off with their heads.
- 28:16Speaker 5: But now you've got Senator Mark Kelly.
- 28:21Speaker 2: He's seriously and I think he's I think he's gonna
- 28:24Speaker 2: be a player too. He's got national recognition. He is
- 28:29Speaker 2: a moderate Democrat. He is exactly the opposite of of
- 28:36Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom, especially in the hair department. And it's I
- 28:40Speaker 2: think that he does not have the same baggage that
- 28:44Speaker 2: Newsom has.
- 28:46Speaker 3: He I mean, look at his credentials.
- 28:48Speaker 2: He's a pilot, yeah, the combat fighter pilot, astronaut, married
- 28:56Speaker 2: a kaffee to Gabby Gifford who got shot in the head,
- 29:01Speaker 2: and he's still with her.
- 29:02Speaker 3: And it's just I have to tell you.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I see, if my wife was shot in the head,
- 29:05Speaker 2: I'd be out of there so quick your head would spin.
- 29:08Speaker 2: I'd be out of there before the ambulance hit, the
- 29:11Speaker 2: hit the hospital go by.
- 29:12Speaker 3: It's been a pleasure.
- 29:13Speaker 5: If you got shot in d you probably wouldn't notice
- 29:16Speaker 5: for a while.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Well said, okay, I think we are done.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Other than the story it's connected to, well, it's not
- 29:24Speaker 2: actually connected. My colon osby day yesterday, of which the
- 29:28Speaker 2: pictures are up on.
- 29:32Speaker 3: My Instagram at bill handle show Amy Well.
- 29:38Speaker 6: Colon cancer is a superkiller we talked about a little
- 29:40Speaker 6: bit earlier. Colo recto cancer now the leading cause of
- 29:44Speaker 6: cancer related death for people under fifty. And again it's
- 29:49Speaker 6: super preventable. If you catch it when it's early, it
- 29:52Speaker 6: doesn't turn into cancer. Didn't happen with me, so I
- 29:55Speaker 6: got to have almost a foot of my large intestine
- 29:57Speaker 6: taken out. So go get your colonoscopy. It'll save your life.
- 30:02Speaker 2: So simple. It is that simple, and there are lots
- 30:06Speaker 2: of fun. I have to tell you. There is nothing
- 30:09Speaker 2: like a five foot tube going up your rear end.
- 30:13Speaker 6: You don't know about it there, it's not there.
- 30:16Speaker 5: They're nothing. I didn't even mind the prep work. It
- 30:19Speaker 5: really wasn't a big deal at all. The prep was disgusting. Okay,
- 30:22Speaker 5: well we're done.
- 30:23Speaker 6: Did you do? Mine wasn't so bad? I mean it's
- 30:25Speaker 6: not pleasant, but it's not so bad.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Oh, I did the ironically name go lightly, that's the
- 30:30Speaker 2: best one.
- 30:34Speaker 5: What is that the it wasn't the name of the
- 30:36Speaker 5: lead character? And breakfast from the Breakfast at Tiffany's Holly Golightly?
- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, guys, And and she and she became
- 30:46Speaker 2: a prep liquid for for a colonosopy.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Okay, guys, we are done. Coming up? Where is that?
- 30:56Speaker 3: Where did I put that?
- 30:57Speaker 2: What?
- 30:57Speaker 5: The entire list of everything that is put together your
- 31:00Speaker 5: every single day? You want me to give you the rundown?
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah, just a rundown?
- 31:05Speaker 5: Okay, multi billion dollar transit project, then, okay, that's good,
- 31:09Speaker 5: coming up the billion.
- 31:09Speaker 3: No, I'll find it. I'll sign it. I'll sign it.
- 31:13Speaker 3: I just I just misplaced this one. KFI AM six.
- 31:19Speaker 3: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
