Iowa soaked up a surprise downpour Monday, August 24th—especially on the western side—with Des Moines getting 0.2 inches to push its August total to 5.48 inches, way above the usual 3.11. The heaviest rain hit during the Iowa State Fair back on Aug. 13-14, dumping over 3 inches in two days. Boone led with 0.66 inches, followed by Harlan at 0.47.
