- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. We are sitting in front of a
- 0:31bunch of seed trays and we are getting ready to plant seeds for
- 0:36the year. And I have waited a little bit
- 0:39to to get up and do this. I'm a little, I'm probably like
- 0:42a week and a half later than I normally AM doing it because the
- 0:47weather is always so questionable and I don't want to
- 0:50put them outside and have a cold snap and stress myself out.
- 0:53So I'm like, OK, I'm just going to wait till I came back from my
- 0:56trip and then I'm going to go about it.
- 0:58I also have changed my formula based on something that I
- 1:04learned from Floret Flowers. Now, if you do not follow Floret
- 1:07Flowers and you are into growing anything, she is brilliant at
- 1:13testing and trying things. So she created a new mix for
- 1:17seedlings and I'm emulating that.
- 1:20So of course this is a big endeavour because you're not
- 1:23just buying packages of soil and coming in and, and putting it
- 1:27together. You know, like you always have
- 1:29that mix. If you're, if you've ever done
- 1:32the beginning of starting seeds, there's a seed starting mix and
- 1:35it has to be very light and puffy so that those little tiny
- 1:39seeds when they, when they sprout, can actually dig down
- 1:42quickly and get to that water and get up to that sun.
- 1:46And this all teaches me so many things about us as human beings.
- 1:52I, I can't begin to tell you how much it, it just provides for
- 1:55me. So when you think about it, we
- 1:57want to start things off in the best conditions.
- 2:01Even ourselves doesn't always work that way.
- 2:04And sometimes we can just take root wherever we are.
- 2:08But when it comes to the seeds, I really want to like use that
- 2:12metaphor for myself and for this.
- 2:13So I go and learn where I can the most, the quickest, the
- 2:18best. And if you've never followed
- 2:20Aaron on Florette, look up Florette flowers, follow her on
- 2:23YouTube, sign up for anything she has that's free.
- 2:26Because no matter what you're doing in your life, if you watch
- 2:29stuff like this, it cross pollinates into other areas.
- 2:33So that being said that I mixed up all of this, went out and got
- 2:38all the supplies and I mean there was so much medium that
- 2:43you need because for the mixture I had to mix it in the back of
- 2:47my F-150. I put down a the tarp and I
- 2:51mixed it all in there and it as it turns out, it's like it was
- 2:55perfect. It was a great idea and I have
- 2:59now I'm waiting. I need to order some more pots.
- 3:01I didn't realize that I was short some pots so and some
- 3:05trays and they're all coming from Amazon this week.
- 3:08So we will be starting off with everything and it like right
- 3:13fresh from the beginning. And the crazy part about all of
- 3:17this is how excited this moment is for me.
- 3:23I look at this and, and you may not get yours from growing
- 3:26things and smelling dirt and putting stuff together.
- 3:30I find this is my, it's like a jolt of of happiness for me
- 3:35because it's the beginning of something extraordinary and it's
- 3:38going to push me in different directions.
- 3:40So I am beyond excited to be smelling the dirt, to be filthy
- 3:46again being outside. So the question today is, what
- 3:50does that for you? Is that like walking into a
- 3:52fabric store? Is that like you smell it?
- 3:55Is that like walking into a bakery where you smell things
- 3:58because you love to bake? Is it like getting your hands?
- 4:01What makes your hands and your brain stimulated like that?
- 4:06Because here's the crazy thing, we are not meant to be
- 4:10stationary. We are meant to be doing things.
- 4:13So if you're stuck sitting at your computer and you have
- 4:15nothing that makes you feel this way, find the thing that makes
- 4:19you light up like this. Because I can promise you, I'm
- 4:23so excited. We're getting another hour of
- 4:25sunshine coming up, according to the clock anyway.
- 4:28I'm so excited that we have these things available to us and
- 4:34we can pour into it at this point because it makes us
- 4:39better. It makes us better people, it
- 4:41makes us more excited, it gives us more.
- 4:44So don't miss this spring sitting there and thinking, you
- 4:49know, I'm not going to do anything for me.
- 4:51I'm going to encourage you, even if you just plant an A deck
- 4:55planter of herbs that you can use for cutting, there is
- 4:59nothing more exhilarating than being able to walk out and cut
- 5:03fresh chives and add them to your food.
- 5:06There's nothing more exciting than being able to use your
- 5:10basil to make, at least in my world, there's nothing more
- 5:14exciting than saying, OK, it's basil.
- 5:16And I made my own pesto and it's extraordinary and just so
- 5:21flavorful. So again, please make sure you
- 5:25use this time. Ride off my energy.
- 5:28Find something because it will change the way you show up.
- 5:32All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:35will see you tomorrow and I hope you're growing something.
- 5:39Bye.
