- 0:03Speaker 1: I shall well, good morning everybody. You're listening to the voice,
- 0:08Speaker 1: come on digging now.
- 0:10Speaker 2: One and only.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Steve Harley got a radio show today. I want to
- 0:16Speaker 1: just share something with you along your way to wherever
- 0:25Speaker 1: it is you're trying to get to. You know, everybody
- 0:28Speaker 1: has a different definition for success, and I'm not here
- 0:32Speaker 1: to tell you what yours should be. I mean, please
- 0:34Speaker 1: pursue whatever you think success is. Aim as high as
- 0:38Speaker 1: you can, though, that's for sure. My father used to
- 0:44Speaker 1: say all the time. I'm sure you all have heard
- 0:45Speaker 1: it in different variations, but he used to always say,
- 0:49Speaker 1: aim for the moon. Just in case you miss, you'll
- 0:52Speaker 1: still be amongst the stars. Just say that to me
- 0:54Speaker 1: all the time. So that always was in me to
- 0:58Speaker 1: aim high. Now he wasn't saying aim with the intent
- 1:03Speaker 1: to miss. He was just saying aim in case you miss,
- 1:09Speaker 1: you'll steal me amongst the stars. If you aim for
- 1:12Speaker 1: the moon. But if you just aim for that first
- 1:14Speaker 1: flow window and you miss it, you know, usually run
- 1:19Speaker 1: into some type of wall and nothing happens.
- 1:22Speaker 2: You slither down. You know.
- 1:24Speaker 1: In my book, act like a lady, think like a man.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I told her people that me in love three ways
- 1:29Speaker 1: they profess, they provide, they protect, and that's the core
- 1:33Speaker 1: essence of a man's love.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, there's some other PE's in life too.
- 1:39Speaker 1: The number one thing you have to understand about trying
- 1:43Speaker 1: to be successful, and I guess I'll call this the
- 1:47Speaker 1: four p's. I may come up with five along the way.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm just talking as it's given to me. So I'm
- 1:54Speaker 1: gonna summer start by saying that these are the four
- 1:56Speaker 1: PE's of success that you have to get ready for it.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Number one is pressure. A lot of it is applied
- 2:06Speaker 1: by the circumstance of what you're trying to go for
- 2:09Speaker 1: and what you're trying to.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Do, but.
- 2:13Speaker 1: A lot of it also is self imposed pressure. It's
- 2:17Speaker 1: what you put on yourself to make it. It's a
- 2:21Speaker 1: sense of urgency, it's a sense of necessity. But pressure
- 2:29Speaker 1: is the first thing I want you to be ready for.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And pressure comes in a lot of different forms, but
- 2:35Speaker 1: it's going to be pressured. As an old saying that
- 2:37Speaker 1: pressure buster pipe. See, that's why most people turn around
- 2:40Speaker 1: because of the pressure of trying to be successful. I
- 2:44Speaker 1: want you to get it in your mind that it
- 2:46Speaker 1: is going to be a pressure rized situation. On your
- 2:50Speaker 1: rise to the top. Pressure, but understanding that is what
- 2:55Speaker 1: it is is not going to change.
- 2:58Speaker 2: That's it. There yourself, get ready for there to be pressure.
- 3:05Speaker 1: The second thing I want you to understand is when
- 3:08Speaker 1: you receive this pressure, you have to persist.
- 3:13Speaker 2: You got to stay at it. You got to develop
- 3:16Speaker 2: a dog illness. Hez A.
- 3:22Speaker 1: There's a song how it says, why must I feel
- 3:27Speaker 1: like that? Why must I chase the cat? Nothing but
- 3:31Speaker 1: the dog in me? That's a funny line in that song,
- 3:36Speaker 1: because really I was thinking about it one day. I
- 3:39Speaker 1: was humming it and and it, and it occurred to me, said,
- 3:43Speaker 1: why must I feel like that? Why must I chase
- 3:47Speaker 1: the cat? Nothing but the dog in me? And you know, now,
- 3:53Speaker 1: you could take it in the literal sense that a
- 3:55Speaker 1: cat chases the dog, because it's innately, it's in his
- 3:58Speaker 1: spirit that cats and dogs are a lot of times enemies.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Now people have pets and have proven that if you
- 4:05Speaker 1: show love on both sides, they can exist. And that
- 4:07Speaker 1: happens too, but naturally innately, when your cat goes by
- 4:12Speaker 1: a dog and your dog don't recognize him, there's some
- 4:15Speaker 1: barking going on. I'm talking about just walking through the
- 4:18Speaker 1: neighborhood or something.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So. But the reason that this dog is so persistent towards.
- 4:25Speaker 1: This cat is just cause it's in him. It's innately
- 4:30Speaker 1: in him. And what I'm saying to you, just using
- 4:35Speaker 1: that as an analogy, is that you got to be
- 4:40Speaker 1: you got to be persistent in that. You got to
- 4:44Speaker 1: develop some dog in you now, because pressure takes some
- 4:49Speaker 1: fighting back. See if you don't fight back against pressure,
- 4:52Speaker 1: pressure buster pipe, So what you think it'll do to you?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Pressure crack walls, pressure calls explosions.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So if you don't fight back to hold.
- 5:02Speaker 1: It in, you understand pressure does most people in the
- 5:07Speaker 1: simple thing called pressure, the weight of what it feels
- 5:11Speaker 1: like to want to be successful every single day, over
- 5:15Speaker 1: and over and over and over and over. It's just
- 5:18Speaker 1: too much pressure. People crack. You got to persist. You
- 5:22Speaker 1: have to persist. You can the thought of giving up
- 5:26Speaker 1: can come, but you got to get it out. You
- 5:29Speaker 1: got to persist. The next thing I want you to
- 5:34Speaker 1: think about is another something that I've been thinking about
- 5:38Speaker 1: for years and learned for years.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It's called perseverance.
- 5:43Speaker 1: To persist means to insist, keyword in incest and persistence
- 5:50Speaker 1: insists you must, you must insist that this is going
- 5:54Speaker 1: to happen. Now, the persist I'm assuming means it's a proaction.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It's some type proaction that you go towards it to
- 6:02Speaker 1: make it. You know, persist, you gotta be persistent. You
- 6:06Speaker 1: gotta be constantly at it, insisting that it happens. You
- 6:09Speaker 1: gotta be constantly at it. But the next thing I
- 6:12Speaker 1: want you to remember is perseverance. Perseverance is important. Perseverance
- 6:17Speaker 1: means that when you've done your best, when you've persisted,
- 6:23Speaker 1: when you're fighting back against the pressure. Perseverance simply means
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm going to hang in here. If a crack come
- 6:33Speaker 1: into pipe, I'm gonna hang in there. If the pipe bust,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep going. If I gotta put duct, take mud,
- 6:42Speaker 1: whatever I got to put on this thing, man, I'm
- 6:45Speaker 1: gonna use perseverance. I'm going to stay with it no
- 6:50Speaker 1: matter what. So we're looking at the three things again.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You got to understand that it's gonna be pressure that
- 6:57Speaker 1: you're gonna have to persist. Keyword persistence insists you have
- 7:02Speaker 1: to insist that no matter what the pressure is, I'm
- 7:05Speaker 1: gonna stay with it.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But then perseverance, if it goes wrong.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Man. You got to get in there and keep fighting.
- 7:13Speaker 1: But then, Lord have mercy. Nothing helps you handle the
- 7:17Speaker 1: three pece better than the fourth p You got to pray.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You got to use prayer. You gotta talk to God.
- 7:25Speaker 2: You gotta use faith.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You gotta have some conferences with him late at night,
- 7:31Speaker 1: early in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon,
- 7:33Speaker 1: when you're on the train, when you driving. You got
- 7:36Speaker 1: to talk to God. Man, you got to get yourself
- 7:39Speaker 1: some help along the way. Nothing is bigger than prayer.
- 7:42Speaker 1: There is nothing bigger than prayer. Prayer will help you
- 7:45Speaker 1: overcome the pressure. Prayer will help you stay persistent, and
- 7:49Speaker 1: Lord have mercy, Prayer will help you persevere them is
- 7:53Speaker 1: the faux peas.
- 7:55Speaker 2: God gave that to me. I'm passing it on. Listening
