- 0:05Speaker 1: Things just got upgraded. It's the shock
- 0:07Speaker 1: circuit with
- 0:08Speaker 2: Sonia and Joakim 987. I'm officially back. Yes, actually in
- 0:14Speaker 2: the month of October. I'm very nasal. I am still
- 0:18Speaker 2: not feeling the best. It's been super up and down,
- 0:21Speaker 2: but um, it's all good. I, you know, I woke
- 0:24Speaker 2: up instinctively before my alarm even rang and I actually
- 0:28Speaker 2: felt restless while I was on, on MC, which is weird, right?
- 0:32Speaker 2: I know. I really don't know why. It's like the
- 0:34Speaker 2: Capricorn in me just cannot.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Rest. And I feel like when I fall sick, it it's,
- 0:40Speaker 2: it's my body kind of telling me or forcing me
- 0:42Speaker 2: to rest, and I have no choice but to do that,
- 0:45Speaker 2: but I get so bored, and then I start thinking
- 0:48Speaker 2: about like the things that I got to do at
- 0:50Speaker 2: work and stuff. So yeah, I don't know if you
- 0:51Speaker 2: can relate.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Or maybe you welcome the fact that once in a
- 0:55Speaker 2: while you will fall sick, you know. 1st of October,
- 0:59Speaker 2: what's the plan this month?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Welcome. Welcome to the 10th month of the year and
- 1:05Speaker 1: very soon it's gonna be 2027.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It is crazy. Like I just saw a meme that
- 1:09Speaker 2: day um that said, uh, 3 more months left to
- 1:13Speaker 2: the end of, wait, is it 3 more months? I mean,
- 1:16Speaker 1: if you
- 1:16Speaker 1: think about it, October, November, December. OK,
- 1:18Speaker 2: 3 more months left to 2027. What have I done
- 1:20Speaker 2: this year?
- 1:21Speaker 2: And this guy is just like,
- 1:22Speaker 1: what
- 1:23Speaker 1: good time for us to sit and reflect on the
- 1:25Speaker 1: year that's gone by so far. But speaking of look
- 1:28Speaker 1: and all that, was scrolling through Insta stories yesterday. Whoa,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I saw your medicinal cocktail.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Actually, it's so funny, you know, like after I posted that,
- 1:38Speaker 2: there were a few of um my followers and listeners
- 1:41Speaker 2: that replied and said, Hey, I got that one also.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I was like, hey, join the club. They're like, yes,
- 1:45Speaker 2: very exclusive sinus club.
- 1:50Speaker 1: You look like a
- 1:51Speaker 2: pharmacy. Actually, it's my, you know, my house is a pharmacy.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Even when I travel, even when I travel, I am
- 1:57Speaker 2: a pharmacy. Like I bring a Ziploc bag full of
- 2:02Speaker 2: like standby medication and honestly, it has always helped. You
- 2:05Speaker 2: know why? Why? Um, on the times that we travel
- 2:08Speaker 2: for like work, let's say, right, and most of the crew,
- 2:11Speaker 2: they're usually guys, um, let me tell you, most dudes
- 2:14Speaker 2: don't bring anything past like Panadol. They hardly bring anything else, OK?
- 2:20Speaker 2: And I know you're gonna defend yourself and say I
- 2:22Speaker 2: got what I got. Yes,
- 2:23Speaker 1: yes,
- 2:23Speaker 2: actually a lot, um, but I'm sure your mom also
- 2:25Speaker 2: makes you no,
- 2:26Speaker 1: no, no, no, I'll bring Panadol, charcoal pills, and I'll
- 2:30Speaker 1: also bring um motion sickness pills, and tiger balm salon
- 2:34Speaker 1: patch or the rubs.
- 2:36Speaker 2: OK, so let me tell you this, is way more extensive.
- 2:39Speaker 2: You're kidding. It's a whole pharmacy. I'll bring like anti-sore throat, anti-inflammatory, um,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and also like antibiotics just in case, yeah, whatever.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So then, um, on many occasions, the the crew members
- 2:51Speaker 2: need to tap on my pharmacy bag when we were traveling, OK?
- 2:56Speaker 2: And the number one person that has to do that
- 2:58Speaker 2: is Jeremy, my very own husband. He literally went on
- 3:01Speaker 2: a honeymoon carrying nothing,
- 3:03Speaker 1: OK. You can't spell Watsons without.
- 3:08Speaker 2: That's a good one. We are literally hours away from
- 3:12Speaker 2: his concert here in Singapore.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I was just running past the National Stadium yesterday, and
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think the merch booths were being set up already.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I can't really see what was in there because I
- 3:22Speaker 1: think the container side was facing me and the open
- 3:25Speaker 1: side was facing towards Kallang River, but I could see
- 3:28Speaker 1: the crew pacing the weekend vinyl stickers.
- 3:31Speaker 2: So I
- 3:32Speaker 2: believe today there might be like a media preview or
- 3:35Speaker 2: something of the merch.
- 3:36Speaker 2: That's gonna be available in Singapore. And
- 3:38Speaker 1: if you are also a VIP ticket holder, yes, so
- 3:41Speaker 1: I think if you're in the gold, silver package, or
- 3:44Speaker 1: maybe even the platinum package, uh, read the advisory put
- 3:48Speaker 1: up by our friends over at the Kallang on their
- 3:50Speaker 1: Instagram page so you know what time to go and
- 3:52Speaker 1: when you can shop
- 3:53Speaker 1: for
- 3:53Speaker 2: merch. Oh, nice. OK, well, I'm gonna be there, we
- 3:57Speaker 2: are gonna be there tomorrow. Yeah, actually, both of us,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and it's gonna be so much fun. I have never
- 4:02Speaker 2: caught the Weekend in concert. This is my first time.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I have. Oh, when?
- 4:06Speaker 1: 20 2018 or
- 4:07Speaker 2: 2019 I didn't, I didn't.
- 4:09Speaker 1: He's very
- 4:09Speaker 2: good. But that's the thing. So since 2018, now it's 2026, right? Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He has since produced so much since then and I
- 4:17Speaker 2: think he, he might have changed his stage, uh, his
- 4:22Speaker 2: staging and his style as well.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it was in 2018 December 5th.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Nice.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And it was just a simple musicians and he was
- 4:31Speaker 1: with the indoor stadium stadium.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Now if you watch all his videos on YouTube, it's
- 4:38Speaker 1: a very elaborate lineup of people, the staging, the lights,
- 4:43Speaker 1: the song, the music, the context, and I really wonder
- 4:47Speaker 1: who will hand the mic to when he sings out
- 4:49Speaker 1: of time. Oh
- 4:50Speaker 2: man,
- 4:51Speaker 2: I don't know, man. Let's see, let's
- 4:52Speaker 1: see. To my bros and sisters around the region, if
- 4:56Speaker 1: the weekend hands you the mic, make sure you sing
- 4:58Speaker 2: well. I'm gonna, I'm gonna sing well, I promise.
- 5:00Speaker 1: OK, OK. Say I love you, but I'm
- 5:05Speaker 2: Do what again?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Say I love you, but I'm
- 5:08Speaker 2: out of time.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Seeing a lot of um posts about celebrating the end
- 5:15Speaker 2: of exam season already.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Like people are just excited to have more relaxed days
- 5:21Speaker 2: at school.
- 5:21Speaker 1: To our primary 6 students, we say congratulations. You've made it.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I don't know whether you supposed to go to school today.
- 5:28Speaker 1: If you're not supposed to, you can just enjoy staying
- 5:31Speaker 1: at home and resting. Well done. It's over. It's over.
- 5:35Speaker 1: PSLE
- 5:35Speaker 1: is over.
- 5:36Speaker 2: So I think both you and I, and well, me especially,
- 5:39Speaker 2: I follow a lot of like the secondary school girls,
- 5:41Speaker 2: like for example, I've visited their schools or whatever, especially
- 5:44Speaker 2: my own schools, Anthony's, right? So I follow a lot
- 5:46Speaker 2: of them.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And uh some of them actually posting about uh stories
- 5:50Speaker 2: or posts about their siblings completing PSLE and it's almost
- 5:54Speaker 2: like um an elder sibling, welcome to the other side
- 5:57Speaker 2: or like you've graduated to the other side kind of thing,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you know.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think for you.
- 6:04Speaker 1: You go to secondary school and then when you go
- 6:06Speaker 1: to upper secondary, especially for the boys, you go from
- 6:10Speaker 1: wearing shorts to long pants.
- 6:12Speaker 2: You feel like, whoa,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I'm an adult.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Actually for the girls, we don't have any change in
- 6:19Speaker 2: our uniform, like at all. Um from from lower to
- 6:23Speaker 2: upper side, you don't, unless you're a student leader, then
- 6:25Speaker 2: you get to change like your tie or something. Yeah. Yeah,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but fun fact, my tie, I don't know whether it's
- 6:33Speaker 2: like
- 6:34Speaker 2: The same right now, but the normal tie back then
- 6:37Speaker 2: in secondary school was actually not a real tie. It's
- 6:39Speaker 2: a clip-on. So it makes it super easy for you
- 6:42Speaker 2: to just clip it on and go to school, right?
- 6:44Speaker 2: But if you're a student leader or like a prefect,
- 6:46Speaker 2: then it's an actual tie. So I wonder if they've
- 6:48Speaker 2: changed it.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I don't know. embarrassing, OK. You don't know. There was
- 6:53Speaker 1: a year I served as a student counselor at my school. Really? Yeah, yes, he, hello.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You sound very surprised.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Why surprised, shocked.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Because you always tell us about what kind of student
- 7:05Speaker 2: you were back
- 7:06Speaker 2: then.
- 7:06Speaker 1: The teacher made me counselor to say, OK, you know
- 7:10Speaker 1: what I'm gonna give you responsibility. Let's see if it
- 7:12Speaker 1: changes you. It did. I actually got out of trouble
- 7:16Speaker 1: for a while, but then I got, I mean, I
- 7:18Speaker 1: don't use the word sacked, but I was taken off
- 7:20Speaker 1: the roster because I retained in sector 3.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, OK,
- 7:24Speaker 1: OK, not a good example, but we like how you
- 7:26Speaker 1: lead the school and you're a student leader. But yes,
- 7:29Speaker 1: tying the tie thing.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I had to always go to this uh vice president.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Hello Wei Chin.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Are you all still friends? Do you still keep in touch?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes. So she would always help me
- 7:39Speaker 1: tie the tie, and she was the best tie tire
- 7:43Speaker 1: in school because the knot was very
- 7:45Speaker 1: neat.
- 7:46Speaker 2: So it wasn't an excuse just to talk to girls.
- 7:49Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no,
- 7:51Speaker 1: she had a very nice boyfriend back then.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Oh, OK, I see.op
- 7:55Speaker 1: it lah.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Give us a call or drop us a message 900-50987. Yes.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Now that you know, exam season is done and dusted,
- 8:04Speaker 2: what would you like to say to your classmates or
- 8:06Speaker 2: your friends out there? Maybe you want to dedicate a
- 8:08Speaker 2: song or maybe you want to just say something on air.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Or if you are still going through the exams at
- 8:14Speaker 1: any level, let us know how it's going for you
- 8:16Speaker 1: as well.
- 8:17Speaker 2: We are heading to phone lines and maybe even messages
- 8:20Speaker 2: in just a little bit to see what you're saying.
- 8:22Speaker 1: We want to celebrate if you finish.
- 8:23Speaker 1: PSLE or if you're going through more exams in maybe
- 8:27Speaker 1: say the later few weeks of October and November, I
- 8:30Speaker 1: want to send you all the love as well. I
- 8:32Speaker 1: guess we're all gearing up for N-levels, O Levels, A levels,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and your end of year examinations.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to say hi to some people dropping
- 8:41Speaker 2: us messages right now to Shifa who said my exams
- 8:45Speaker 2: have not started, but we're doing Children's Day celebrations. I
- 8:49Speaker 2: am actually nervous for my exams.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I kind of realized Children's Day, right? At least here
- 8:55Speaker 1: in Singapore because of our MOE timetable. It's one of
- 8:59Speaker 1: those holidays where you want to enjoy but you can't
- 9:01Speaker 1: because the exams are coming up
- 9:02Speaker 1: very
- 9:02Speaker 2: soon. I get you. Anyway, we're gonna head to phone
- 9:05Speaker 2: lines first. Hello, who's this? I'm Caleb. Hi Caleb, you
- 9:09Speaker 2: sound so sleepy this morning. Are you OK? Yeah, just
- 9:12Speaker 2: a bit tired. Oh, I know, we feel you. We
- 9:14Speaker 2: are also very tired.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Caleb, are you going?
- 9:17Speaker 1: any exams right now? No, I
- 9:18Speaker 2: finished my exams. Yay!
- 9:21Speaker 1: What? PSLE. Congratulations. So are you still going to school
- 9:25Speaker 1: or are you now resting or what?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Uh, I'm now heading to school for Children's Day. Oh,
- 9:29Speaker 2: it is Children's Day today. I didn't even notice that.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I
- 9:32Speaker 1: mean, usually October 1st is Children's Day, but they might
- 9:35Speaker 1: have the holiday on the Friday if I'm not wrong.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Oh, are you having holiday tomorrow? Do you know?
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm having a holiday tomorrow. I see. OK, fantastic.
- 9:43Speaker 2: So happy Children's Day to all, um, both mentally and physically.
- 9:48Speaker 2: So my inner child. Um, any song that we can
- 9:51Speaker 2: get you this morning? Risk It All by Bruno Mars.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Risk It All. Wow, nice. OK, we'll get that for
- 9:57Speaker 2: you coming up right now. OK.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Enjoy. Bye-bye.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Bye.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Bye. Magnus Pre with Asleep Talking right here.
- 10:04Speaker 2: 87, Singapore's number one hit music station. Sonny and Joakim
- 10:07Speaker 2: here with you. If I'm not wrong, he appeared with
- 10:10Speaker 2: his dad, Will Ferrell, with uh Jimmy Fallon actually.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Of course,
- 10:14Speaker 2: they, they did quite a funny skit together. It's quite cute.
- 10:17Speaker 1: One
- 10:18Speaker 1: of the epitome when it comes to late night talk
- 10:21Speaker 1: show hosts and the show to be on, Jimmy Fallon.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Magnus
- 10:25Speaker 2: Ferrell is quite handsome, man. I never noticed that actually.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Just followed him.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Anyway, because you know, you always see Will Ferrell is
- 10:32Speaker 2: a funny guy, right? Like you never really associate Will
- 10:35Speaker 2: Ferrell as like, oh, handsome dude from Hollywood. Like he
- 10:39Speaker 2: never portrayed himself that way.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Well, Will Ferrell could be handsome to a few people.
- 10:44Speaker 2: No, I think, I think he is when he was younger, especially.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not
- 10:48Speaker 2: wrong. Exactly. Anyway, um, coming up right now, we've got
- 10:52Speaker 2: a special shout out for one of our listeners.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Yeah, so Shamine actually texted us over on our WhatsApp
- 10:57Speaker 1: number saying, hey guys, happy first day of October. It's
- 11:01Speaker 1: my birthday today.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Keep going.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Oh, happy
- 11:08Speaker 1: birthday to
- 11:09Speaker 2: Shermaine. Happy birthday to you. Anyway, like I mentioned earlier,
- 11:14Speaker 2: do not wish this upon anyone, but then again, this
- 11:16Speaker 2: could have happened to any of our relatives or our
- 11:19Speaker 2: our parents or elderly people around us, OK? So like
- 11:22Speaker 2: I said, you know, when it comes to things like
- 11:25Speaker 2: jade or crystals and all that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It sometimes it is quite religious. At the same time,
- 11:30Speaker 2: people have their own beliefs, right? And I know through
- 11:33Speaker 2: the saga of like life selling nowadays, there have been
- 11:37Speaker 2: a lot of debate over whether we can prove that
- 11:40Speaker 2: these crystals are even worth X amount, like 8000 or
- 11:43Speaker 2: whatever.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Remember a long time ago, one of my friends was
- 11:45Speaker 1: sharing with me about how
- 11:48Speaker 1: for a feng shui reading and the feng shui reading
- 11:52Speaker 1: service isn't too expensive. It is the things that they
- 11:56Speaker 1: sell you sell you, oh, to increase water flow in
- 11:59Speaker 1: your home, you need this very special crystal bowl. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So apparently the feng shui guy was going to sell
- 12:05Speaker 1: it to her for 200 $2000 OK.
- 12:09Speaker 1: For some reason she was able to haggle it down
- 12:11Speaker 1: to $500.
- 12:13Speaker 2: No lah. That just goes to show what it's actually worth. Again, I,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I, I don't want to question anyone's beliefs. You might
- 12:20Speaker 1: believe in feng shui and all these kind of crystal
- 12:22Speaker 1: and jades and all that.
- 12:22Speaker 2: To
- 12:23Speaker 2: be honest, there are actually, um, crystal and jade retailers
- 12:28Speaker 2: and stores that are very legit.
- 12:30Speaker 2: The ones that come with the certification, you know, they
- 12:32Speaker 2: invite you, yeah, you can check it out anytime. Like
- 12:34Speaker 2: we have nothing to hide. However, this elderly couple that
- 12:38Speaker 2: took a tour, it was part of like, you know,
- 12:39Speaker 2: those tour group kind of thing with a lot of
- 12:41Speaker 2: other maybe retired people as well. They just want to go, um,
- 12:45Speaker 2: see see, you know, other countries, right? So they went
- 12:47Speaker 2: to Guizhou, which is a six-day, five-night tour, OK, it's
- 12:51Speaker 2: fully guided.
- 12:52Speaker 2: The group consisted of about like 20 people, majority of
- 12:55Speaker 2: them are elderly. And you know, I know it can
- 12:58Speaker 2: be quite enjoyable for them, but with these tours, one
- 13:01Speaker 2: of the things that they would do is they will
- 13:02Speaker 2: always stop at different shops, if you noticed, right, is
- 13:06Speaker 2: to drive up sales or they will go and book
- 13:08Speaker 2: the same restaurants and things like that to support their
- 13:11Speaker 2: own
- 13:11Speaker 2: businesses.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 2: especially if people end up buying, right?
- 13:17Speaker 2: So, um, this, uh, this, this lady came up to
- 13:21Speaker 2: say about how her parents spent over 7000 Singapore dollars
- 13:27Speaker 2: on this particular black jade Buddha pendant in China, OK?
- 13:34Speaker 2: And it was supposedly very rare, very good quality. It's worth,
- 13:39Speaker 2: they paid over $7000 for it. So you know that
- 13:41Speaker 2: they believe in it, you know, because this is not
- 13:43Speaker 2: just religious, but also the material, right? They're like, oh,
- 13:46Speaker 2: black jade is very rare.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Um, for some reason, their daughter felt a bit sussed
- 13:50Speaker 2: about it.
- 13:51Speaker 2: And uh when she came back, she actually got it
- 13:54Speaker 2: tested and found out that it was worth less than
- 13:56Speaker 2: $100 less than $100 but somehow they managed to inflate
- 14:01Speaker 2: it and sell it to these people. I don't know
- 14:03Speaker 2: whether they also prey on the elderly or they see like, oh,
- 14:06Speaker 2: these people are retired, they've got some money to spend,
- 14:08Speaker 2: you know, oh, they're Buddhists, they believe in certain things.
- 14:13Speaker 1: OK, I'm gonna say I'm not too familiar with the
- 14:14Speaker 1: Hindu and Muslim religion on the kind of holy ornaments
- 14:18Speaker 1: or materials you might use.
- 14:21Speaker 1: But for Christians and Catholics, I was in Italy two
- 14:23Speaker 1: years ago, right? And you know when you go to Rome,
- 14:26Speaker 1: the Vatican, like if you are really into the faith, you,
- 14:30Speaker 1: you will feel special. So I think my mom was
- 14:33Speaker 1: so excited. She really felt this spiritual awakening. So I
- 14:36Speaker 1: had to be the one that Mommy, careful, don't go
- 14:39Speaker 1: and just buy any random thing
- 14:40Speaker 2: because that's why people pray on you.
- 14:42Speaker 1: You would think the Vatican is there, nobody would dare
- 14:44Speaker 1: mess around. No, all the shops outside the Vatican are
- 14:48Speaker 1: these people.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Like, oh, you know, ma'am, this rosary or this ring
- 14:52Speaker 1: or this is very special and you realize it's a
- 14:56Speaker 1: scam or a tourist
- 14:57Speaker 1: trap.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, unfortunately, despite it being places of worship,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and you know, um, people genuinely going there for like
- 15:06Speaker 2: their own pilgrimage or whatever, like there are going to
- 15:09Speaker 2: be bad people out there who target you because you
- 15:12Speaker 2: are such a faith loving person, you know, and they
- 15:15Speaker 2: know that it's in those moments where you feel extra
- 15:17Speaker 2: vulnerable because
- 15:18Speaker 2: Like you said, spiritual awakening and all that, right? You
- 15:20Speaker 2: might be susceptible to just buying anything.
- 15:24Speaker 1: So please be careful and for the Vatican, the official Vatican.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So go in there.
- 15:29Speaker 2: But anyway, to update you about this particular case, I
- 15:31Speaker 2: think they've turned to STB for some help to find
- 15:34Speaker 2: out what they can do, and they're awaiting to see
- 15:36Speaker 2: if they can get a refund on that because since
- 15:39Speaker 2: it was a place that presumably is related to the
- 15:42Speaker 2: tour group, they might still be able to sort something out. Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I think
- 15:45Speaker 1: a refund might be tough.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Actually, I don't know
- 15:50Speaker 1: what they might be able to
- 15:51Speaker 2: if STB is involved, hopefully, you know, their authority stands
- 15:55Speaker 2: for something hopefully
- 15:57Speaker 1: for a conclusion.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I have faith. I have faith. Not, not enough to
- 16:00Speaker 2: buy those things don't go and buy.
- 16:04Speaker 2: OK, so, um, I don't feel so alone anymore. A
- 16:07Speaker 2: video that I posted just yesterday shows me that, um,
- 16:11Speaker 2: and the response rather shows me that plenty of people
- 16:13Speaker 2: feel the same way. Come, let me go and you
- 16:15Speaker 2: have this section person in your life for sure, OK.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Before you go get the comments, can I give you
- 16:21Speaker 2: the context first? Come, give it to me. As you know,
- 16:24Speaker 2: sometimes we will share like funny videos or rather, OK,
- 16:28Speaker 2: please don't look at the chat that Joakim and I
- 16:30Speaker 2: have because it's um very cancelable, but
- 16:33Speaker 2: The stuff that we share with each other.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I mean, if the real is there, I find it funny,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I share to you in private, you
- 16:39Speaker 2: mess up my algorithm and it's your fault. It's your fault,
- 16:43Speaker 2: but at least you reply, OK, so.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So, um, for, for Jeremy, my own partner in life,
- 16:51Speaker 2: I think
- 16:51Speaker 1: I know where this is going.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I, I will send him like random videos all the time. OK.
- 16:58Speaker 2: He doesn't like doom scrolling on TikTok, so I send
- 17:01Speaker 2: him reels on Instagram, OK.
- 17:03Speaker 2: He never replies. And can I, can I just show you,
- 17:06Speaker 1: can I ask, wait, wait, wait, wait, in defense,
- 17:11Speaker 2: why do I feel like you want to cite him?
- 17:13Speaker 1: I
- 17:13Speaker 1: feel like I understand him as well. In defense, Your Honor,
- 17:16Speaker 1: can I ask, OK, the accuser, what time do you
- 17:21Speaker 1: send him these reels?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Any time of the day.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the problem, man is working.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I'm also working.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Man is
- 17:28Speaker 2: working, hold on, hold on,
- 17:30Speaker 1: punching numbers and taking meetings with people. Hey,
- 17:33Speaker 2: I
- 17:33Speaker 2: also taking meetings with people just because, you know, I,
- 17:37Speaker 2: I'm sometimes chronically online.
- 17:39Speaker 2: And maybe he just doesn't have the habit of being
- 17:41Speaker 2: chronically online. Wait,
- 17:42Speaker 1: can I ask, OK, as a married couple, do you
- 17:44Speaker 1: not like, you know, and you're like scrolling your phone? OK,
- 17:50Speaker 2: so my
- 17:52Speaker 2: Hey, hear me out, can or not? Whose friend are
- 17:56Speaker 2: you once again?
- 17:57Speaker 1: Again, I'm your friend, but I will not lie to you.
- 18:00Speaker 2: But you're supposed to be on my side.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I'm on your side.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Can I show you first? I'm not gonna
- 18:04Speaker 1: lie to you. OK, fine.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Look, look at all these videos. OK. I sent him
- 18:09Speaker 2: so much. He only replies to like one or two,
- 18:11Speaker 2: and then he just ignores me for
- 18:12Speaker 2: the rest of the time.
- 18:13Speaker 1: This reminds you of the girl I dated back in 2022.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Send her 10 messages, only 1 reply
- 18:19Speaker 2: messages, that's text messages, is it? I know.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I know of friends who are terrible at replying as well.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Like they're just very bad at it. I know that
- 18:28Speaker 2: we're still friends to do. OK, that's the thing, we
- 18:32Speaker 2: all have stuff to do. We all have things to
- 18:34Speaker 2: do and honestly, right, like some of my friends look
- 18:36Speaker 2: at our schedule and they, they honestly think that we're
- 18:39Speaker 2: some of the busiest people that they know. OK. The
- 18:42Speaker 2: reason is, is not because one job is more important
- 18:45Speaker 2: than the other or whatever.
- 18:46Speaker 2: But the reason is because our schedule can be very unpredictable,
- 18:50Speaker 2: and it can be like literally 12 hours to 16
- 18:52Speaker 2: hours like a day sometimes, or we don't even have
- 18:54Speaker 2: a weekend. But sometimes when I just want to unwind,
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'm just like scrolling a little bit. I laugh at
- 18:59Speaker 2: some videos, then I send lah because I want to
- 19:01Speaker 2: share the laughter. So I want him to laugh with me,
- 19:04Speaker 2: but he's not laughing with me.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Putting myself in Jeremy's shoes and becoming a different person, right?
- 19:10Speaker 1: I can only imagine Jerry receiving your memes, OK.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And he goes, What am I supposed to say? Ah,
- 19:15Speaker 1: back to work.
- 19:16Speaker 2: No, maybe he laughs to himself, then he just acknowledged
- 19:19Speaker 2: in his head, then he moves on, but he doesn't
- 19:20Speaker 2: reply me. Maybe that's, that's the case. But sometimes I'll
- 19:24Speaker 2: him like at the end of the day. I'll be like,
- 19:26Speaker 2: So what did I send you today? And he has
- 19:28Speaker 2: no idea.
- 19:31Speaker 2: It's like, oh, I haven't watched it.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so why not change your approach? Why don't you
- 19:35Speaker 1: watch it? So why don't you save the reels and
- 19:38Speaker 1: then at night before you sleep to force a
- 19:39Speaker 2: reaction is it?
- 19:40Speaker 1: Why not just watch it with him, I saw this today.
- 19:42Speaker 2: OK, but here's the thing, when we are winding down, right?
- 19:46Speaker 2: I kind of have a rule. Yeah, like I kind
- 19:49Speaker 2: of have a rule because I'm on my phone and
- 19:51Speaker 2: my devices so much for work that at the end
- 19:54Speaker 2: of the day, I'm like, OK, no phones. Like we
- 19:56Speaker 2: just chat and catch up about our day.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Your Honor, I've run out of. I don't know how
- 20:01Speaker 1: to help you.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Never mind, I'm not looking for a solution. I think
- 20:04Speaker 2: I've kind of accepted it already. It's fine, whatever. It's
- 20:07Speaker 2: his loss. He didn't laugh at the video,
- 20:09Speaker 1: so whatever. So I wanna look at your video right
- 20:11Speaker 1: now that you posted about complaining about this situation yesterday.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I want to say hello to Mama Chew. Mama Chew
- 20:17Speaker 1: says he must be too busy.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, she's also not on my side.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Uh, our good friend Kimberly Chan, all are all husbands
- 20:25Speaker 1: like this.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I feel seen. Actually, a lot of people are agreeing, OK,
- 20:31Speaker 2: I don't feel so alone anymore.
- 20:32Speaker 1: And then people are saying, Hey, that's my husband, Amen, sister,
- 20:36Speaker 2: and some people say.
- 20:37Speaker 2: like I'm that person, like who doesn't reply. So, we're
- 20:40Speaker 2: gonna open up phone lines right now, 669-11987 or drop
- 20:44Speaker 2: us a message 90050987. Do you have this person in
- 20:49Speaker 2: your life? The person that just doesn't reply?
- 20:52Speaker 2: Either doesn't respond to the videos that you send them
- 20:54Speaker 2: or just is a terrible texter.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So this kind of proves that there is a reels
- 21:01Speaker 2: and videos. I think we have to include that right
- 21:03Speaker 2: now.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And to my men, the bar is very low, reply.
- 21:07Speaker 1: You'll make her day,
- 21:08Speaker 2: you see, the thing is, I don't, I think that
- 21:10Speaker 2: for us because of our industry, we are chronically online,
- 21:15Speaker 2: but maybe for people who are not in our industry,
- 21:17Speaker 2: and it doesn't matter what you are, I know Gen
- 21:19Speaker 2: Zs who are terrible at replying.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Before we go to the music break, right, can I
- 21:23Speaker 1: just share something with you? Yeah, like what you said?
- 21:25Speaker 1: We are chronically online, right? And sometimes I have friends
- 21:28Speaker 1: who send me a meme that I've already seen. Then
- 21:30Speaker 1: I just say, Hey, yeah, I've seen this. Ah, you boring, lah, joking.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Everything also see the reaction.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Just
- 21:36Speaker 1: laugh. I don't want to lie to them. You're not
- 21:38Speaker 2: lying. You're just excluding information.
- 21:43Speaker 2: You're not lying. You still laughed at it anyway.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I will use this phrase for the rest of my life. Yeah,
- 21:49Speaker 2: self-preservation.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'm teaching you the ways of life right now.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Excluded.
- 21:56Speaker 2: OK. Give us a call 669-11987. We'd love to hear
- 21:59Speaker 2: from you or drop us a message. Do you know
- 22:02Speaker 2: someone around you that is just terrible at responding, be
- 22:05Speaker 2: it to text messages or to the videos or the
- 22:07Speaker 2: posts that you send them on social media. Please let
- 22:10Speaker 2: us know if you are that person, please tell us.
- 22:13Speaker 2: as well. We would love to hear. Thanks so much
- 22:14Speaker 2: for joining us. So we're just crashing out over this
- 22:17Speaker 2: right now because I said that I find it very
- 22:21Speaker 2: challenging sometimes when, you know, I have friends around me
- 22:24Speaker 2: or even my own partner in life, who doesn't really
- 22:27Speaker 2: reply or respond to the stuff that I sent over.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Case in point, I'm talking about all the times that
- 22:32Speaker 2: I sent videos to him.
- 22:34Speaker 2: That I, I think is relevant to him or I
- 22:36Speaker 2: find funny, or like, you know, it might remind me
- 22:38Speaker 2: of us kind of thing. And he, I can count
- 22:41Speaker 2: with one hand, the amount of times he's replied to
- 22:44Speaker 2: me this year
- 22:45Speaker 1: because the man is locked in.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I'm also locked in.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I'm also locked in,
- 22:50Speaker 1: locked in making major financial decisions for Singapore.
- 22:54Speaker 2: I'm making life decisions, you know, entertainment related decisions.
- 22:59Speaker 1: OK, can, can, can.
- 23:01Speaker 2: That's important too.
- 23:02Speaker 1: It is, yes, it is, but I mean.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I mean, for both of us, we are on our phones.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Maybe for him when he logs in, OK, I don't
- 23:10Speaker 1: know him as well as you do. When he logs in,
- 23:12Speaker 1: maybe his phone is one side, he's really like typing
- 23:15Speaker 1: meetings and
- 23:15Speaker 1: all that.
- 23:16Speaker 2: That that was my that was my number one excuse, right?
- 23:20Speaker 2: Like explanation. But then when it comes down to anything
- 23:24Speaker 2: that is sports related or wellness related, suddenly he's, he
- 23:28Speaker 2: can send me.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Then I'm like, OK, so what about the 20 videos
- 23:31Speaker 2: I sent you before this?
- 23:32Speaker 1: OK, so you try different content. You send him videos
- 23:37Speaker 1: about
- 23:37Speaker 2: paddle. Yeah, he will definitely reply, but anything else he
- 23:40Speaker 2: won't reply. Ah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: so you must know what to tickle his fancy already.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't find that entertaining.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but does he find your videos entertaining?
- 23:49Speaker 2: He has to. He has no choice.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Well,
- 23:54Speaker 2: this is, we said some vows earlier on this year.
- 23:57Speaker 2: He has no choice. He finds me funny.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Sorry choked me up for a bit. OK, wow. Whoa,
- 24:04Speaker 1: do I want to get married? I don't know, man. Anyway,
- 24:06Speaker 1: moving on to WhatsApp right now. I want to say
- 24:08Speaker 1: good morning to Liz. Liz says, morning, Sojo. I don't know, man.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think I'm the one that's terrible at replying or
- 24:14Speaker 1: even read messages because she sends me a screen grab
- 24:17Speaker 1: of her WhatsApp, right? There are 66 unread messages on
- 24:22Speaker 1: her WhatsApp.
- 24:23Speaker 1: And she goes, this is why me and my husband,
- 24:25Speaker 1: we always use a different app called Between, so we
- 24:28Speaker 1: know we need to respond to each other. Oh, OK,
- 24:31Speaker 1: fair enough,
- 24:31Speaker 2: fair enough. OK, so, um, unfortunately, I also received a
- 24:35Speaker 2: text from my dad. He said, you also sometimes don't
- 24:38Speaker 2: reply us.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Sorry. Hello. No, I know, I know because sometimes if
- 24:43Speaker 2: it's not like an immediate, uh, something that requires my
- 24:48Speaker 2: immediate attention and if I'm busy, then I will reply later.
- 24:51Speaker 1: That is Jeremy's state of mind. This is the pot
- 24:53Speaker 1: calling kettle black.
- 24:54Speaker 2: OK, hold on. I'm not, I'm neither the pot nor
- 24:57Speaker 2: the kettle. Um, OK, but I have 622 unread messages.
- 25:02Speaker 1: You're the entire store, OK.
- 25:05Speaker 2: OK, never mind, moving on.
- 25:08Speaker 2: It's the time for self-reflection or what? Yes, OK. Any
- 25:11Speaker 2: more messages before we get to our calls? Hi,
- 25:13Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim, please keep me anonymous. Ignoring texts and
- 25:16Speaker 1: reels happens to be my pet peeve. Oh, my partner
- 25:20Speaker 1: and I exchange reels throughout the day. Whenever he ignores
- 25:23Speaker 1: my reels and sends me others, I'll reply to my
- 25:25Speaker 1: own reels with, so that's, so that he, uh, with a,
- 25:28Speaker 1: with a, you know, the, the.
- 25:30Speaker 1: The up arrow,
- 25:31Speaker 2: you missed it in case you missed it so
- 25:33Speaker 1: that he will see them. Same for text. I told
- 25:35Speaker 1: him that's a second warning to watch them before I
- 25:37Speaker 1: get very unhappy. He's getting it now. Funny that I
- 25:41Speaker 1: can accept my girlfriends who ignore my rules, but not
- 25:43Speaker 1: for my partner. I should learn from Sonya to accept
- 25:46Speaker 1: that men are like
- 25:47Speaker 1: that.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Who says I've accepted it? I'm still trying to change him.
- 25:53Speaker 2: But look, I mean, look, like with the amount of
- 25:56Speaker 2: people that are just laughing at it, I think his
- 25:58Speaker 2: friends are just being so entertained, like watching him get
- 26:00Speaker 2: called out on, on in my video. He might have
- 26:04Speaker 2: to start responding to me more often now. Just saying.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I can imagine him, right? Hey, by the way, I
- 26:11Speaker 1: saw your wife's video about you very funny.
- 26:15Speaker 2: OK, can I just say I have a little update here.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Ever since I uploaded the video last night calling germs
- 26:22Speaker 2: out for not replying my posts and my stories and
- 26:25Speaker 2: all that, right?
- 26:26Speaker 2: I'll give him some credit. He comments on a lot
- 26:28Speaker 2: of my posts. Yeah. Yeah, he is very supportive, but
- 26:33Speaker 2: he doesn't watch the reels or the videos that I
- 26:36Speaker 2: sent him.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Oh my God, can you compromise? OK,
- 26:38Speaker 2: so anyway, here's what happened. So I actually, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 2: so-called called him out yesterday, right, in a joking manner,
- 26:44Speaker 2: of course. This morning, suddenly you replied, see, you can
- 26:49Speaker 2: change a man.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I give it 2
- 26:52Speaker 1: weeks.
- 26:54Speaker 2: So optimistic. I was gonna say 2 days, but OK.
- 26:58Speaker 2: We're going back to our messages and your stories right
- 27:01Speaker 2: now and your calls as well. The question is, do
- 27:03Speaker 2: you know someone around you that is just terrible at
- 27:05Speaker 2: replying anything?
- 27:07Speaker 1: Want to say good morning to KN on WhatsApp. Morning, Sonia.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I feel you. I really get a response from my
- 27:13Speaker 1: daughter who's turning 18 this year. Oh no. There used
- 27:16Speaker 1: to be blue ticks on the messages and reels, so
- 27:18Speaker 1: I could tell she'd seen them. After my consistent feedback,
- 27:22Speaker 1: she's now cleverly chosen to turn off her red receipts.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Oh no.
- 27:25Speaker 1: So I can't tell whether she's read them, and of
- 27:28Speaker 1: course I can't fault her for the late responses anymore.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Wow, OK. But hey, you, you caught that. You noticed that,
- 27:34Speaker 1: yeah. One coming in from Derek. Hey, Sojo, I'm one
- 27:37Speaker 1: of those who will never read or see stuff because
- 27:40Speaker 1: of my workload in the office and the number of
- 27:43Speaker 1: texts that is coming in for work. Whenever my wife
- 27:46Speaker 1: texts me, if I'm free, I will take a look
- 27:48Speaker 1: and comment. However, some days when I'm busy, I don't
- 27:51Speaker 1: see my phone at all, and then I'll miss it.
- 27:53Speaker 1: So later on in the evening when I come along
- 27:55Speaker 1: some funny news or videos which happen to be quite
- 27:58Speaker 1: similar as the one she will send me, I will
- 28:00Speaker 1: tell her about it. Then she will reply saying, I
- 28:03Speaker 2: send you what I see I knew it.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Uh, yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I can relate. I can relate. Yeah. No, OK. In
- 28:13Speaker 2: regards to the chat one, I understand because sometimes my
- 28:16Speaker 2: friend chat groups can like pop off like randomly in
- 28:19Speaker 2: the middle of the day. Suddenly there's like 80 messages
- 28:21Speaker 2: that I didn't read and I just can't scroll back
- 28:23Speaker 2: to read it. That's, that's the time where sometimes I'm like, guys,
- 28:27Speaker 2: can someone just, uh, you know, TLDR this? Yeah, tell
- 28:31Speaker 2: me what's the summary. Like I can't read all 80 messages.
- 28:35Speaker 2: More often than not, they'd be like, don't worry, you
- 28:37Speaker 2: didn't miss anything.
- 28:39Speaker 2: We got Kelvin on the line right now. Kelvin, who
- 28:41Speaker 2: is that person in your life that's just terrible at replying? Myself.
- 28:46Speaker 2: He's so self-aware.
- 28:48Speaker 2: So
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Take us through it, explain to us why do
- 28:52Speaker 2: you reply. Sometimes I think if the text or the
- 28:54Speaker 2: video is
- 28:55Speaker 1: too
- 28:55Speaker 2: lengthy, I will just send a thumbs up, but actually
- 28:57Speaker 2: I didn't read it or watch it. Hey, hey, I
- 29:01Speaker 2: take offense to that. No, but at least I, I acknowledge, right? OK,
- 29:06Speaker 2: at least you acknowledge.
- 29:07Speaker 2: But he
- 29:08Speaker 1: excluded.
- 29:10Speaker 2: OK, I knew this would come back and bite me. OK,
- 29:13Speaker 2: but see, if I send you 10 videos in a day,
- 29:15Speaker 2: that's 10 times that I thought about you, you know,
- 29:18Speaker 2: and you couldn't even take 1 minute to watch the video.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I would think that
- 29:21Speaker 1: sending an emoji is
- 29:22Speaker 2: good enough.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I mean,
- 29:23Speaker 2: it's a form of acknowledgement.
- 29:25Speaker 2: From a guy's point of view, from a guy's point
- 29:28Speaker 2: of
- 29:28Speaker 1: view, OK, this one I cannot agree lah because the
- 29:31Speaker 1: emoji shows lack of effort, but Kelvin, OK, can I ask, uh,
- 29:35Speaker 1: what is considered too long for you, the video length?
- 29:38Speaker 2: I don't know. I never tried watching.
- 29:41Speaker 2: This, this is more than 2 minutes.
- 29:44Speaker 2: OK,
- 29:45Speaker 1: Kelvin, are you married or seeing anyone right now?
- 29:48Speaker 2: I mean, I think she's accepted him.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I mean, the marriage is there, vows have been said,
- 29:52Speaker 1: so done, dusted.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Talking about the people that are just terrible at replying.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Are you OK there joking? What just happened?
- 29:59Speaker 1: Slipped on the
- 30:00Speaker 1: chair.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I apologize. Well that was quite
- 30:04Speaker 1: loud.
- 30:04Speaker 2: He just broke the entire studio or what. I'm
- 30:07Speaker 1: so
- 30:08Speaker 1: sorry. OK, going to WhatsApp and saying good morning to Hayati.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Bit of a lengthy one. OK, Morning, Sojo. I'm kind
- 30:15Speaker 1: of in between on this. I'm the one who spams
- 30:18Speaker 1: my husband with whatever I see on TikTok or Instagram.
- 30:22Speaker 1: My husband doesn't have.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Any social media except for Facebook. So he will typically
- 30:26Speaker 1: reply literally on everyone that I share, be it a
- 30:29Speaker 1: laughing emoticon or a comment on the videos I shared.
- 30:33Speaker 1: My question to Sonia is, what kind of reply do
- 30:37Speaker 1: you actually expect? Because for me, after I get his replies,
- 30:40Speaker 1: I'm like, Oh, OK, lo, I don't know if you
- 30:43Speaker 1: get what I mean. Like I appreciate him.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Reply, but what do we actually feel after they reply?
- 30:48Speaker 1: Sometimes it becomes a debate because both of us don't
- 30:51Speaker 1: agree on the content matters, but yeah, oh well, we
- 30:54Speaker 1: signed a lifetime contract. So is it you, you just
- 30:57Speaker 1: want to feel seen, is
- 30:59Speaker 2: it? Yes, yes, I just want to feel seen. Um, honestly,
- 31:02Speaker 2: most of the stuff that I sent him are like
- 31:04Speaker 2: mindless things. They're not. So if they're not, they're not
- 31:08Speaker 2: any like.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Like topic of contention or anything debatable. No, it's really
- 31:13Speaker 2: like funny animal videos or like ridiculous things. OK,
- 31:16Speaker 1: let me
- 31:16Speaker 1: give you three scenarios.
- 31:18Speaker 2: OK.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Case number 1, you send Jeremy a reel, he double
- 31:22Speaker 1: taps it and likes it. That's all.
- 31:24Speaker 2: How? I mean, it's good enough, OK, but I'll test
- 31:26Speaker 2: you later if you really saw it.
- 31:29Speaker 1: 2nd, 2nd case, he double taps it and he leaves
- 31:33Speaker 1: a comment,
- 31:33Speaker 2: ha ha. Yeah, OK, then I'll see if the haha
- 31:36Speaker 2: is genuine or not.
- 31:40Speaker 1: OK. And then the third one is maybe what you
- 31:43Speaker 1: want like ha ha ha, wow,
- 31:44Speaker 2: that's so funny, wow,
- 31:47Speaker 1: thanks for this
- 31:47Speaker 2: darling. Oh really? I like that. OK, OK,
- 31:50Speaker 1: so you are the 3rd case scenario. OK, got it,
- 31:53Speaker 1: got it. Yes, Jeremy, if you're tuned in.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Just type ha ha ha, I love you. Thank you
- 31:57Speaker 1: so much for this. You brighten up my day, lie
- 31:59Speaker 1: on her a bit,
- 32:00Speaker 2: but I
- 32:00Speaker 2: might test you at the end of the day. I'll
- 32:03Speaker 2: be like, OK what was the third video I sent
- 32:06Speaker 2: you at 2 p.m. today? Ah, see if you can
- 32:09Speaker 2: pass the
- 32:09Speaker 2: test or not.
- 32:10Speaker 1: I'm very sure you just say some dog la, correct.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Well done. Wow, we really had some really good laughs
- 32:16Speaker 2: this entire like hour or so. The question is, do
- 32:19Speaker 2: you know of someone around you that's terrible at replying?
- 32:24Speaker 2: And there are some of our listeners that actually are
- 32:26Speaker 2: quite self-aware. They say, Oh, it's me.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Want to say good morning to Faith, another self-aware person
- 32:31Speaker 1: as well. Morning, Sonia and Joakim. I'm the one who
- 32:34Speaker 1: always does not like to reply messages, or I will
- 32:36Speaker 1: take days to reply. My mom will say, By the
- 32:40Speaker 1: time you reply me, I've given birth already. My sister
- 32:43Speaker 1: will say, by the time you reply me, next day
- 32:45Speaker 1: also arrive already. My colleagues will say, by the time
- 32:48Speaker 1: you reply.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Grow old already. Have a great
- 32:51Speaker 1: day.
- 32:51Speaker 2: You know, I, I actually do have a friend, uh,
- 32:55Speaker 2: funny enough, that also doesn't really, she's notorious for not
- 32:57Speaker 2: really replying, but we've kind of accepted her. And um
- 33:00Speaker 2: the funny thing is we always say like, OK, she
- 33:04Speaker 2: may not have acknowledged like, oh, we're meeting on this
- 33:06Speaker 2: date or this time. Sometimes she would just show up
- 33:09Speaker 2: and we'd be like, oh, hey, it's a pleasant surprise,
- 33:12Speaker 2: like wonderful. Welcome.
- 33:14Speaker 2: But we never know. It's like a blind box now.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Never let them know your next move.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Exactly. So it keeps us on our toes.
- 33:20Speaker 1: We got one coming in from username Fud. Fud Fud says,
- 33:25Speaker 1: Hey Sonia and Joakim, honestly, there's no excuse to back
- 33:28Speaker 1: this up.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Unless you haven't read it, it's understandable. But if you
- 33:32Speaker 1: have read and they never reply, it means we're not
- 33:34Speaker 1: on the same vibe level. If after a few videos,
- 33:38Speaker 1: still no reply, I won't be sending more videos. We'll
- 33:41Speaker 1: still be friends, but I will find a new sending
- 33:43Speaker 1: video buddy. But if it's my partner, it will be different.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I will just spend more videos till I get a
- 33:49Speaker 1: reaction and she will know that I would like a reply.
- 33:52Speaker 2: So should I try reverse psychology? I stopped sending him videos.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Like one day I just stopped, yeah, see if he notices.
- 33:58Speaker 2: He will. What do you think? He will. He will. OK, OK.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It's like my dad and those good morning messages.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Hey, I get that from my parents too, but to
- 34:05Speaker 2: be fair, I reply.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so if my dad doesn't send me a good
- 34:08Speaker 1: morning message for more than 2 days, I'll be like,
- 34:11Speaker 1: Hey Dad, everything OK?
- 34:12Speaker 2: But do you reply?
- 34:14Speaker 1: No, but I,
- 34:15Speaker 2: yeah, you see, he never replied. That's why he's texting you.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Reply him.
- 34:18Speaker 2: He's your dad. Wait, wait,
- 34:20Speaker 1: wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Can I, can I please?
- 34:21Speaker 1: show you the good morning, uh, emojis.
- 34:24Speaker 2: You show me yours, I'll show you mine. OK, OK, OK,
- 34:26Speaker 2: let me pull it up.
- 34:27Speaker 1: What do I say to these
- 34:29Speaker 2: things? Oh my God, when was the last time you
- 34:30Speaker 2: replied to your dad?
- 34:31Speaker 1: I
- 34:32Speaker 1: call him like once every, he will send me Wednesday's blessings. Well,
- 34:37Speaker 2: I get that too. Hold on, let me, let me
- 34:39Speaker 2: just scroll back and find one. OK. OK. I get
- 34:41Speaker 2: quite cute ones like good morning, good morning messages, and
- 34:45Speaker 2: then some like good morning messages with my dog Maxi
- 34:48Speaker 2: in
- 34:48Speaker 2: it.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yours is very cute. Mine.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Scripture to it.
- 34:52Speaker 2: OK, no scripture.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so he will give me,
- 34:57Speaker 1: which, which I read and I and I also reply sometimes,
- 35:01Speaker 1: but when my dad says, Hey, how are you, then
- 35:03Speaker 1: I'll reply him all these good morning messages. No, but
- 35:06Speaker 2: he's he's thinking of you every morning.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'm sure it's, it's not.
- 35:11Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think so. OK, fine. Like, OK,
- 35:14Speaker 2: I have this one here. Good morning. Have a stunning day,
- 35:18Speaker 2: and it's like a picture of my dog.
- 35:20Speaker 1: That's your mom, right?
- 35:21Speaker 2: That's my mom. She always puts my dog's face in there. Anyway,
- 35:24Speaker 2: we've got Veron on the line, last but not least
- 35:26Speaker 2: right now. Who is that person that's just terrible at replying?
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm the opposite. So my husband sent me tons of ideas. Oh,
- 35:33Speaker 2: and you are the one that doesn't respond. Yeah, because
- 35:36Speaker 2: I don't know what to reply, you know, I will
- 35:39Speaker 2: reply with an emoticon, OK, a heart shape, and sometimes
- 35:43Speaker 2: it's so funny videos which I don't find it funny.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Then I just go through I skip.
- 35:48Speaker 2: And like your, your pedal or video or the, the
- 35:52Speaker 2: IG post you sent it to me. I don't know
- 35:54Speaker 2: what to reply.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Wait, he sent, he sent that to you. Try to
- 35:59Speaker 2: like tell me that, oh, OK, it's time to learn
- 36:02Speaker 2: something new, but OK, I don't know what to reply.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Ay, so do you, do you all often fight about
- 36:10Speaker 1: this or talk about this, like, hey, can you reply
- 36:12Speaker 1: to me more, please?
- 36:13Speaker 2: He
- 36:13Speaker 2: is the one who said that. We're realizing this is
- 36:15Speaker 2: not gender-specific.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Veron. Have a great day, OK? OK,
- 36:20Speaker 2: so when it comes down to winning vouchers or like
- 36:23Speaker 2: lucky draws and all that, I'm probably the worst person
- 36:26Speaker 2: because I, I don't remember the last time I won
- 36:28Speaker 2: anything from like a lucky draw. Whereas I feel joking,
- 36:32Speaker 2: we have a bit more luck when it comes to
- 36:33Speaker 2: these things.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Did you not win something recently at a lucky draw?
- 36:37Speaker 1: Both of us were at the event. I remember this. Hey,
- 36:40Speaker 1: I won, I won. Was it you? Is it? Could
- 36:42Speaker 2: have
- 36:43Speaker 1: been,
- 36:43Speaker 2: could have been. I don't think I won anything. OK,
- 36:45Speaker 1: but what what what are these vouchers or or
- 36:47Speaker 1: what's the price?
- 36:48Speaker 2: So here's the thing, um, this lady, um, $1600 worth
- 36:54Speaker 2: of McDonald's vouchers. Oh wow. OK. Um, but this of
- 36:58Speaker 2: course is not, not in Singapore.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Um, she, she's a tourist from mainland China. She won
- 37:04Speaker 2: a McDonald's voucher worth over $1000. She was allowed to
- 37:08Speaker 2: use it in Hong Kong, OK. Beautiful. But she was
- 37:11Speaker 2: faced with a dilemma because she was leaving the next
- 37:14Speaker 2: day and because she's like a tourist, she doesn't exactly
- 37:17Speaker 2: have like 20 friends there, you know what I mean?
- 37:19Speaker 2: She's just visiting, right?
- 37:21Speaker 2: Um, she said she couldn't use the voucher by herself.
- 37:23Speaker 2: The in-store gift cards were sold out. So she decided
- 37:26Speaker 2: to embark on a 24 hour giveaway across Hong Kong,
- 37:30Speaker 2: and she just wanted to give back. So she decided
- 37:32Speaker 2: to turn her, her tour into like a blessing for everyone.
- 37:35Speaker 2: She's like, Hey guys, I'll just treat you, you know.
- 37:38Speaker 2: So she posted it up on Xiaohongshu, you know, the
- 37:40Speaker 2: Little Red Book, um, app.
- 37:42Speaker 2: And she actually posted about her whole experience hosting this giveaway.
- 37:46Speaker 2: She went across Hong Kong, she turned like her last
- 37:48Speaker 2: 24 hours there of her visit into like a massive giveaway,
- 37:52Speaker 2: and she said, hey, no friends, strangers, whoever, like, doesn't
- 37:55Speaker 2: matter who you are, if you're following in this space
- 37:57Speaker 2: and you're around this area, I'm giving away food and vouchers,
- 38:00Speaker 2: so please come by. And she just did that throughout the.
- 38:03Speaker 2: 24 hours, so cute.
- 38:04Speaker 1: To this lady, good karma always find you. At least
- 38:08Speaker 1: you didn't get your vouchers go to waste and you
- 38:09Speaker 1: actually bless someone's day.
- 38:11Speaker 2: And some people actually strangers, they exchange tokens for the
- 38:16Speaker 2: free meal because they believe that we cannot just accept
- 38:18Speaker 2: like a free meal. So they would give her like
- 38:20Speaker 2: souvenirs and stuff from Hong Kong. Oh, that's nice. I
- 38:23Speaker 2: thought that was really, really cute. So.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Um, this was quite interesting because she went to Lang
- 38:28Speaker 2: Kwai Fong to hand it out as well, and I'm
- 38:30Speaker 2: thinking the perfect time to go to Lang Kwai Fong
- 38:32Speaker 2: to hand out free McDonald's would be at like 4 a.m.
- 38:35Speaker 2: or something.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Yep, no, but she didn't go at that odd time.
- 38:39Speaker 2: But yeah, honestly though, like if I were prancing about
- 38:42Speaker 2: Lang Kui Feng at 3 a.m., I see free McDonald's,
- 38:44Speaker 2: I'm taking it.
- 38:45Speaker 1: What can I say about ho?
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, ho, ho, that's the only word you know, right?
- 38:49Speaker 2: Is it?
- 38:49Speaker 1: No, hiitia
- 38:53Speaker 2: pintoa. Then the rest cannot see on air. Peiin,
- 38:56Speaker 1: where are
- 38:56Speaker 2: you learning this
- 38:57Speaker 1: from? Rush hour.
- 39:01Speaker 2: That's why I said the rest of the phrases and
- 39:03Speaker 2: words can say on air.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Just announced yesterday, Tate McCray is going to be headlining
- 39:10Speaker 2: and taking the stage for the Victoria's Secret fashion show
- 39:13Speaker 2: happening in less than 2 weeks.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Wow,
- 39:17Speaker 2: yeah, less than 2 weeks.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I wonder what song she'll perform as the models walk
- 39:21Speaker 1: by her.
- 39:22Speaker 2: I think she's gonna do a few
- 39:23Speaker 1: and people will be confused. Hey, is that the singer
- 39:25Speaker 1: or is that the Victoria's Secret model singing? Actually,
- 39:27Speaker 2: that happened, you know, um, there's so many.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Famous, uh, big stars that have performed for Victoria's Secret, right? Like,
- 39:33Speaker 2: for example, when I think Taylor Swift did it, she
- 39:36Speaker 2: looked like a model, to be honest.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Taylor Swift is someone who can walk down the ramp
- 39:39Speaker 1: and people will think she's an actual Victoria's Secret model.
- 39:42Speaker 1: But
- 39:42Speaker 2: can
- 39:42Speaker 2: I just say the, the year that Rihanna performed, she
- 39:46Speaker 2: had so much aura and so much swagger that like
- 39:49Speaker 2: she just literally walked up to the stage. Everyone was
- 39:52Speaker 2: in awe of her.
- 39:53Speaker 2: It's just one of those moments you cannot buy aura,
- 39:55Speaker 2: you know, she just has it.
- 39:58Speaker 1: There are two performances from the Victoria's Secret's fashion runway
- 40:01Speaker 1: that I'll never ever forget. Firstly, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Oh,
- 40:04Speaker 2: that
- 40:04Speaker 2: was a while ago. That was
- 40:05Speaker 1: great. And the second one is The Weekend. Oh yes,
- 40:09Speaker 1: Whoever planned it, and then Bella Hardy had to walk
- 40:11Speaker 1: past him,
- 40:13Speaker 2: that one was painful to
- 40:14Speaker 1: watch. Yeah, the concert organizer knew what he or she
- 40:16Speaker 1: was doing.
- 40:18Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna say.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Anyway, um, I'm sure you'll be able to catch it,
- 40:21Speaker 2: you know, streamed on some of your favorite social media
- 40:23Speaker 2: platforms as well, but also I believe Cat's Eye might
- 40:26Speaker 2: be joining. It's, it was announced just yesterday, if I'm
- 40:29Speaker 2: not wrong.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Catsy's Eye, is it all of Cats Eye?
- 40:32Speaker 2: Don't ask me that.
- 40:33Speaker 1: 3 or 4 out of 5 members.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Sensitive question, but Ty McCray is definitely one of the headliners,
- 40:40Speaker 2: so we're excited for that.
- 40:41Speaker 1: And to Cats Eye, if you are performing, please don't sing.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Fruity Sing Sing Nali or Gabriella. Gabriela, Gabriel
- 40:47Speaker 2: could be a good one for this year. Anyway, we'll
- 40:49Speaker 2: be keeping a close eye on it and enjoying the show. Alright,
- 40:53Speaker 1: so the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore, they have
- 40:57Speaker 1: kind of listed a few companies that have bought fake reviews,
- 41:01Speaker 1: whether through Carousel or wherever, or maybe even people that
- 41:06Speaker 1: they know who owns all these bought and comment.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Services, right? So, 45 of these companies have admitted to
- 41:14Speaker 1: buying fake reviews, and if you read mainstream media, the
- 41:18Speaker 1: company's names are actually on the list. Yeah, so they
- 41:22Speaker 1: range from, you know, your nail salon parlors to consultancy
- 41:26Speaker 1: services to logistics, and then there was one that kind
- 41:30Speaker 1: of made me wonder also. OK. One involves a funeral parlor.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Oh no. I mean,
- 41:39Speaker 2: OK, but I have to say, it can be quite
- 41:42Speaker 2: a competitive business, you know, because it's very profitable. But
- 41:45Speaker 2: if you think about it, we are a massively aging population. Um,
- 41:49Speaker 2: anyone who has invested in any funeral or, well, knock
- 41:53Speaker 2: on wood, death-related businesses actually are doing very well. Can I,
- 41:57Speaker 2: can I
- 41:57Speaker 2: ask,
- 41:58Speaker 1: um, what will it take to a funeral parlor a
- 42:02Speaker 1: five-star
- 42:02Speaker 1: review?
- 42:03Speaker 2: How seamless the experience was, maybe, how their customer service was,
- 42:07Speaker 2: you know, very thoughtful at the same time, could be
- 42:11Speaker 2: efficient to the point, but still take your, take your
- 42:14Speaker 2: feelings into consideration,
- 42:20Speaker 2: you
- 42:21Speaker 1: won't see me posting a Google review. Oh, it was
- 42:24Speaker 1: well done.
- 42:25Speaker 2: I mean you might if you really appreciate. OK, I
- 42:28Speaker 2: think that when it comes down to these services, it's
- 42:29Speaker 2: very much people-centric.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I think this is more word of mouth. Yeah,
- 42:33Speaker 2: it's never got to do with like, oh, the flowers
- 42:36Speaker 2: were great or they will never say that. I'm sure.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I don't
- 42:39Speaker 1: know if I want to openly go and comment on
- 42:41Speaker 1: Google online leaving my my footprint there saying, oh, I
- 42:44Speaker 1: use this funeral parlor service. They did a very good job.
- 42:47Speaker 1: It was seamless and yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I mean,
- 42:51Speaker 2: sometimes, you know, in order to entice people to leave
- 42:54Speaker 2: a review, they usually give you something in return, you know, like, um,
- 42:58Speaker 2: for restaurants, for example, they're like, oh, free drink if
- 43:01Speaker 2: you leave a review for us. Cannot be bad review, right?
- 43:05Speaker 1: I mean, what will the funeral parlor give you? Can
- 43:08Speaker 1: they bring back the dead? No, right? So I don't
- 43:10Speaker 1: know about
- 43:11Speaker 1: this
- 43:11Speaker 2: one. I really think it's the comments and the reviews
- 43:15Speaker 2: are definitely related to like, oh, you made us feel good.
- 43:18Speaker 1: By
- 43:18Speaker 1: the way, according to the article, there are more companies
- 43:21Speaker 1: that are yet to be named, and some of them
- 43:23Speaker 1: involves lawyers, doctors, and tuition centers. The tuition centers I
- 43:30Speaker 1: cannot wait to see. I'm very invested.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah, this is so funny because I fall into a
- 43:35Speaker 2: category where I don't really read reviews that much. I mean,
- 43:40Speaker 2: because I know that we have to take it with
- 43:42Speaker 2: a pinch of salt nowadays. I will still read it,
- 43:44Speaker 2: but don't know, sometimes you have a gut feeling that
- 43:47Speaker 2: some of it's not legit, you know. Yeah, see whether
- 43:50Speaker 2: that gut feeling is right next time.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Anyway, um, I guess this is a case that will
- 43:54Speaker 2: continue to unfold. OK, so not exactly any, um, groundbreaking
- 43:59Speaker 2: food news here today of any launches or anything at all,
- 44:01Speaker 2: but this was actually discussed, I think about a week
- 44:04Speaker 2: or two ago where we said it was kind of
- 44:07Speaker 2: concerning that some Crystal Jade shops were closing, some Crystal
- 44:10Speaker 2: Jade outlets were closing, right?
- 44:12Speaker 2: And you know, we always say like they're one of
- 44:14Speaker 2: the longest standing chains here in Singapore, so reliable, a
- 44:18Speaker 2: family place as well, plenty of people go there. But
- 44:21Speaker 2: um an update here just for you. If you were
- 44:23Speaker 2: wondering what's going on with the Crystal Jade chain here
- 44:26Speaker 2: in Singapore, they remain open, but
- 44:29Speaker 2: A financial and risk advisory firm has been appointed to
- 44:32Speaker 2: review their financial and operational affairs. So they're being put
- 44:36Speaker 2: under what we call receivership right now. I'm no finance person,
- 44:40Speaker 2: but I'm guessing they've brought a third party in to
- 44:42Speaker 2: help them sort out all their financial issues at this point. So,
- 44:46Speaker 2: hopefully they stay open and they will find a way
- 44:49Speaker 2: to
- 44:50Speaker 2: You know, um, get their assets and operations in order
- 44:52Speaker 2: and recover their value and ensure stability of their chain
- 44:56Speaker 2: here in Singapore, then hopefully they don't have to close
- 44:58Speaker 2: more outlets. All the
- 44:59Speaker 1: best, Crystal, Jane. Hopefully everything gets sorted really soon.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I know so
- 45:03Speaker 1: that you can keep giving us good xiaolong and maybe
- 45:06Speaker 1: our friends over at Tin Tai Fung and Paradise a
- 45:08Speaker 1: run for their
- 45:08Speaker 1: money.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Oh, I like their dimsum actually, you know, and there
- 45:11Speaker 2: are 13 outlets remaining here in Singapore, so support them
- 45:14Speaker 2: if you can, but, um, they definitely have to get
- 45:16Speaker 2: something in order right now. So we'll, we'll keep you updated.
