Latest / Foul Territory / Pujols OUT for Angels gig, Posey hiring Vitello from Vols for Giants?
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: It spreading rumors and this is breaking news that happened
- 0:06Speaker 1: right around when the show started. Albert pooholes out on
- 0:11Speaker 1: the Angels managerial open ning opening. Sam Blum done great
- 0:18Speaker 1: reporting as usual early on in his article that he
- 0:22Speaker 1: just released, which is talking about Pooles not being considered
- 0:26Speaker 1: a candidate anymore. There had been mutual interest, but the
- 0:31Speaker 1: two sides could not get close on dollars and years.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Team also has wanted to speak with ex managers like
- 0:38Speaker 1: Brandon Hyde and Rock Oball Delhi. Unclear if there's mutual interest.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Kurtzuzuki's in the mix, Tory Hunters in the Yeah. So
- 0:49Speaker 1: it sounded like Artie Marina wanted Albert Albert I think
- 0:53Speaker 1: wanted to be the man he wanted to be, Yeah,
- 0:56Speaker 1: and they couldn't see to eye on money. There was
- 0:59Speaker 1: a prior article from sam Blum about that money, and
- 1:03Speaker 1: he kind of mentioned how the Angels have a little
- 1:06Speaker 1: bit of leverage because they have this seven years left.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I think on the personal services agreement, it's a million
- 1:11Speaker 1: bucks a year in baseball terms. That's not like massive
- 1:13Speaker 1: numbers for a team. Although Arty Moreno likes to yes,
- 1:17Speaker 1: this is different, but Artie.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Is not going to double dip either, like I'll pay
- 1:20Speaker 2: seven to manage in one to.
- 1:22Speaker 3: That's a problem.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But if the way I understood it was if Poohols
- 1:27Speaker 1: signed elsewhere as a manager, that comes off. It's not
- 1:30Speaker 1: going to be quote working for the Angels and a
- 1:32Speaker 1: manager for another team.
- 1:33Speaker 2: That makes sense. You can't do that either, right.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So the Angels would have gotten that money removed each
- 1:38Speaker 1: year that he was managing elsewhere, so that gives them
- 1:41Speaker 1: a little play. And I think Artie used that as
- 1:44Speaker 1: his chip. Albert said, now I'm a superstar, I'm super rich.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I want to get paid pretty well. Then they both
- 1:49Speaker 1: said screw you to each other on the phone.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I mean, I thought this was gonna be done. I really,
- 1:54Speaker 2: when I talked to you, thought this was a done
- 1:55Speaker 2: deal with Arty though already something always seems apart. They
- 1:58Speaker 2: could come back and kiss and make up and Nick
- 2:00Speaker 2: tomorrow sham Blum could be writing Albert Poolholes as the
- 2:03Speaker 2: new manager of the Angels. You just never know.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Artie's a wake up and change your mind guy.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Remember when Garret Colton signed there, He went out
- 2:09Speaker 2: and signed Rendon.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Remember when he put the team up for sale and
- 2:13Speaker 1: then woke up and said, JK. I mean it happens.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's his team.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I always bring up like I always bring up old stuff.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I mean, maybe maybe Artie's changing. He sees this youth
- 2:25Speaker 4: movement in LA and he says, this is gonna be
- 2:28Speaker 4: the new team.
- 2:29Speaker 2: This is gonna be the new Angels.
- 2:31Speaker 4: We're phasing Mike Trout out for the next seven years.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I'm not just going for advertising dollars. Even though I
- 2:37Speaker 4: wanted Albert Pool host because I figured he would sell
- 2:39Speaker 4: more tickets and more advertising, I'm not. I'm not the
- 2:42Speaker 4: same Ardie anymore.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Okay, it is a good point.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I mean, Arty Morin acts big names as much as
- 2:49Speaker 1: anybody in the sport, and he really cares about having that.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That ticket that wouldn't care about winning.
- 2:57Speaker 3: No, he doesn't always.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Maybe just told before the starting pitching conversation for years back,
- 3:05Speaker 1: real person Abob with the Angels said, why would I
- 3:08Speaker 1: spend some money and care as much about a starter
- 3:10Speaker 1: when they only pitch every fifth day? Need every day
- 3:13Speaker 1: guys that we can market around. Well, it's funny. That's
- 3:16Speaker 1: really not how baseball.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Well then you know what, then he should go on
- 3:21Speaker 2: hire the crap out of some bullpen guys. Because they
- 3:23Speaker 2: pitch every day.
- 3:24Speaker 3: That's true. You can market market.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Bullpen guy guys.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Go sign edwin Dnley Jansen, Henley Jansen when he was there.
- 3:31Speaker 3: They did that already.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I'm just saying, like, if he doesn't like starting pitchers,
- 3:35Speaker 2: then go out there and go get some guys to
- 3:37Speaker 2: pitch everything, some bullpen guys.
- 3:39Speaker 4: He wants guys to play every day. He wants guys
- 3:41Speaker 4: to play every day. But he signed You wouldn't know.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I know, as much as we're joking around, I actually
- 3:49Speaker 1: thought if Albert was going to hop into a rold,
- 3:51Speaker 1: this was a good.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Spot for him.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So no pressure's fun.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Like if you're going to the Orioles or the Braves, right,
- 3:59Speaker 1: one of these teams that should be a playoff mixed
- 4:01Speaker 1: team nextres Padres, there's heat right, because it is a
- 4:06Speaker 1: little bit of an experiment when you bring someone in
- 4:08Speaker 1: that hasn't really done anything coaching wise in baseball yet
- 4:12Speaker 1: besides the Winner League.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, oh, there's been guys that have done Okay.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, boony Cora. Right, there's guys that are managing
- 4:20Speaker 1: now that didn't.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Come across a bench coach before.
- 4:22Speaker 3: That's true. That's true.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So he was in TV, but yes he had the
- 4:25Speaker 1: prior experience. That might not be the best example. But anyway,
- 4:28Speaker 1: don't you think that it's a he's a risky hire
- 4:31Speaker 1: for a team that's contended. Yeah, yeah, okay, I think
- 4:35Speaker 1: that if you don't believe that, you're a little delirious
- 4:39Speaker 1: like it might work out great or it might be
- 4:41Speaker 1: a disaster.
- 4:43Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 4:44Speaker 4: It's a risky higher when you have other guys that
- 4:46Speaker 4: are out there that are not as risky. That's if
- 4:49Speaker 4: there was nobody else out if there was a Brandon
- 4:51Speaker 4: Hyde out there, if there wasn't a Rocketball Deli out there,
- 4:54Speaker 4: then I would have Then then maybe you know what,
- 4:57Speaker 4: go for it, Go for your superstar. He connects with

- 6:17Speaker 3: The brewers are expected to listen to offers for.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Freddie Peralta, I'm surprised Contreras hasn't been mentioned either.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Also, well, he has more time left.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It's usually a year or two left, and then they
- 6:31Speaker 1: start to make moves. I don't know what Contreras is at.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Do you this is an arbitration? I know that. I
- 6:38Speaker 2: don't know what early.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Ist free agency twenty twenty eighth.
- 6:41Speaker 1: So he said out of time, maybe after next season,
- 6:44Speaker 1: because then you'd have two more.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Years after his rookie year. Right, But for Freddie p
- 6:49Speaker 2: this is last year of his deal.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and his contract is eight million bucks.
- 6:54Speaker 2: As crazy still get his numbers of this year.
- 6:57Speaker 3: He's top five pitcher in the National League. I know, Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 3: he's a nice I know.
- 7:03Speaker 1: He's going to be highly coveted if that's what they
- 7:05Speaker 1: end up doing, and that is.
- 7:08Speaker 3: He does.
- 7:09Speaker 1: He's durable. But this is what they do. I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 1: they did this with Corbyn Burns. They did this with
- 7:13Speaker 1: Devin Williams. I mean Devin Williams for example. Caleb Durbin
- 7:16Speaker 1: alone had a really nice year for them. Is totally
- 7:19Speaker 1: a Brewers player. I actually think the Yankees could have
- 7:21Speaker 1: used him at shortstop. But still, I mean they've been
- 7:24Speaker 1: able to.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Swing Julie Ortiz.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah, all all contributors. Obviously, you know Hall maybe not
- 7:31Speaker 1: as much as they thought.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And well it's because he got hurt to hit more.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But he can really freaking pick it. You know, It's
- 7:38Speaker 1: worked out for them. They do these deals with the
- 7:39Speaker 1: year ago. We'll talk more about it in the offseason
- 7:47Speaker 1: in the wed good reporting over the weekend from the
- 7:50Speaker 1: Athletic and Rosenbaulin Company talking about the Giants closing in
- 7:54Speaker 1: on hiring a Tennessee coach, Tony Bytello as next manager.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And if you're you're watching right now and you're not
- 8:01Speaker 1: into the college game, you might be like, wait, they
- 8:04Speaker 1: already got the team in Nashville. No, this is a
- 8:07Speaker 1: college coach. It's a very successful program. It wasn't a
- 8:11Speaker 1: very successful program before he took over.
- 8:14Speaker 3: He's, i would say, a media darling, right.
- 8:16Speaker 1: He's just very highly regarded in a number of components.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Is he the number one most successful college baseball coach? No,
- 8:25Speaker 1: but what he's done has stood out anyway. Buster Posey's like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I'm into it. Let's do something outside the box. It's
- 8:33Speaker 1: not official yet, but it looks like it's gonna happen.
- 8:35Speaker 1: The forty seven year old taking over the Giants so
- 8:37Speaker 1: this never happens. How do you think it's gonna work?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, don't I don't know. I don't know because I
- 8:46Speaker 2: just don't know how you just go from college to
- 8:48Speaker 2: the big leagues. You go from controlling a bunch of
- 8:51Speaker 2: eighteen to twenty two year olds. Well there's like twenty
- 8:54Speaker 2: five year olds still hanging around there, but obtuly twenty
- 8:56Speaker 2: two year olds to dealing with guys that are thirty
- 8:59Speaker 2: plus years old that have had established careers. You can't
- 9:02Speaker 2: scare them do this. You're getta run, Yeah, Tony kick rocks, Dude, you.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Have whatever eight year contract. Get out of mind?
- 9:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, was he gonna tell Raffie Devers? You know, like,
- 9:12Speaker 2: oh you're doing bad in school, Raffie, you lose your meal?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Pro Like, no, like you can't. You can't forced guys
- 9:20Speaker 2: to transfer like they can in college. But I don't know.
- 9:22Speaker 2: It's gonna be fascinating. Do I think you'll do a
- 9:24Speaker 2: good job. Sure, but it's just such a big jump
- 9:27Speaker 2: with no experience. And what I want to try to
- 9:29Speaker 2: figure out is where is the the connection between Buster
- 9:33Speaker 2: and him? That's someone I can't figure out. Why is
- 9:34Speaker 2: there a connection?
- 9:35Speaker 3: There?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Is there? Am I missing something because I keep looking
- 9:38Speaker 2: through is he went to Missouri, and he coached at Missouri,
- 9:41Speaker 2: and he coached at TCU, he coached at Arkansas. But
- 9:44Speaker 2: there's no Florida State in there. I just don't now
- 9:47Speaker 2: he's at Tennessee. I just don't know where it is.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I don't know if it's anywhere he wants to do
- 9:53Speaker 1: it Kratz because he was in the mix for another
- 9:56Speaker 1: team too.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I was listening to a show that was.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Like two weeks old, the Front Office show that Jim
- 10:01Speaker 1: Bowden does, Who's on with Us all the time? And
- 10:03Speaker 1: they caller who was asking about by Tello as an
- 10:06Speaker 1: outside the box higher for the Braves. So it must
- 10:08Speaker 1: be a thing where Tony's also trying to.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I don't know who his agent is, but his agent,
- 10:12Speaker 2: you know his agent is, is like Jimmy Sexton in
- 10:14Speaker 2: the college football world. Like Jimmy Sexton controls all the
- 10:18Speaker 2: college football coaches. He's like, Oh, Kirk Signetti, the guy
- 10:22Speaker 2: in Indiana, you might be the coach and say, oh,
- 10:24Speaker 2: six years, eighty million, Oh this guy might be a candidate.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Just leaks it out there and oh the school has
- 10:30Speaker 2: to pay him. This guy's and then he gets to
- 10:32Speaker 2: buy it. I mean, this guy, so whoever Tony Vytello's
- 10:34Speaker 2: agent is, is nailing this. Even if he doesn't get
- 10:37Speaker 2: this job, Tennessee's gonna be like, well, we might need
- 10:38Speaker 2: to pay him more. Now.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I'm not going to get into any conspiracy theory. I'm
- 10:43Speaker 4: glad this gave us two days. We're allowed to have
- 10:46Speaker 4: two days to think about it. Because when I saw
- 10:48Speaker 4: the news on Saturday, I was like, really, And my
- 10:52Speaker 4: first thought was exactly what Aj said, like, how do
- 10:55Speaker 4: you how do you all of a sudden just become
- 10:57Speaker 4: a big league manager? And Scott he said, well, because
- 11:01Speaker 4: he wants. You know, this is something he wants to do.
- 11:03Speaker 4: A lot of dudes that probably want to do it.
- 11:05Speaker 4: I think a lot of Maybe I'm wrong, I think
- 11:08Speaker 4: a lot of college coaches are like, yeah, I'd love
- 11:09Speaker 4: to be a big league manager one day. I don't
- 11:11Speaker 4: think they could bounce around to like six different colleges
- 11:14Speaker 4: to just all of a sudden, one day get this
- 11:16Speaker 4: top college job. But the more I thought about it,
- 11:19Speaker 4: the more I said, Okay, I don't know things that
- 11:21Speaker 4: are surrounding. I don't know how much he's getting paid.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I don't know all this stuff or if he's using
- 11:26Speaker 4: his leverage. The thing I do know is Buster Posey.
- 11:31Speaker 4: I know Buster Posey's not jacking around. I know he
- 11:34Speaker 4: is going from Bob Melvin, who maybe is a little
- 11:40Speaker 4: bit more laid back, maybe says, hey, you know what, guys,
- 11:43Speaker 4: you know, go out and get the job done, and
- 11:45Speaker 4: Buster's like, no, I don't want that. I want to
- 11:48Speaker 4: find somebody who wants to get after it. I want
- 11:51Speaker 4: somebody who is willing to maybe kick these guys in
- 11:55Speaker 4: the butt a little bit. And can he change Yes,
- 11:58Speaker 4: I think Tony can. He doesn't need to be jumping
- 12:01Speaker 4: into the bleachers like he did in omahall after they won.
- 12:05Speaker 4: But I trust Buster Posey, and that might be naive
- 12:09Speaker 4: of me. Might be I only played a month and
- 12:11Speaker 4: a half with them, I only hung out with him
- 12:14Speaker 4: in the offseason a few times. But knowing him and
- 12:16Speaker 4: his drive to be successful and his desire to win
- 12:21Speaker 4: for the Giants organization, if he thinks Tony Vittello's the guy,
- 12:26Speaker 4: I'm one hundred percent behind him.
- 12:29Speaker 1: This episode of FT is presented by Fox One, which
- 12:34Speaker 1: is where you can go to watch Game seven of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the Alcs, and it is also your destination for the
- 12:41Speaker 1: World Series.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I actually saw numbers. I think it was yesterday.
- 12:44Speaker 1: There have been seven figure number of sign ups for
- 12:47Speaker 1: Fox one, not all due to us.
- 12:49Speaker 2: But I think they're all be due.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I think so too. I do, Yeah, you do?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Two?
- 12:54Speaker 1: Okay, great, So even if I don't think so, I'm
- 12:56Speaker 1: overruled two out of three. Start your seven day free
- 12:59Speaker 1: trial at foxwe dot com. But if you're one of
- 13:03Speaker 1: those people that's like I don't have cable anymore or
- 13:05Speaker 1: whatever else right, and you haven't digested all the sports
- 13:10Speaker 1: in the Fox one app, now is the time, Or
- 13:12Speaker 1: maybe you're coming off a big football weekend and you're like, okay,
- 13:15Speaker 1: I need to take more control.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Fox one is the spot.
- 13:18Speaker 1: But ALCS Game seven is there for you if you're
- 13:21Speaker 1: looking for a streaming option. The app's super smooth, it's
- 13:24Speaker 1: brand new. They've been doing a great job.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I need that every time. The thing about it about
- 13:32Speaker 1: a third of the jobs but everything.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Okay, I just want to say every GM president that
- 13:39Speaker 2: ires a manager, they think they're the guy. They're not
- 13:41Speaker 2: hiring a guy because they think he's gonna suck when
- 13:44Speaker 2: the Giants are gage gap, or they thought he was
- 13:46Speaker 2: going to be good, right, So of course they have
- 13:48Speaker 2: to think they're the guy. They're not hiring the person
- 13:49Speaker 2: to be Like, I don't. I just hired this guy
- 13:51Speaker 2: as a sacrificial lamb for a couple of years so
- 13:53Speaker 2: I can get five more years down the road. Like, no,
- 13:55Speaker 2: they always think they're the guy.
- 13:56Speaker 1: But doesn't this seem like a more high risk h.
- 14:00Speaker 2: This is a very high risk move one problem. Only
- 14:03Speaker 2: somebody like Buster Posey can get away.
- 14:05Speaker 4: With how many gms? How many gms do you trust?
- 14:08Speaker 4: I'm saying I trust him.
- 14:10Speaker 6: I get it.
- 14:11Speaker 4: I get it that when the Giants hired Gabe cap Where,
- 14:13Speaker 4: they were like, it's somebody that Farhans Aedi and his
- 14:17Speaker 4: minions can puppeteer, and Gabe was.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Like, I will do whatever it takes because I am
- 14:22Speaker 6: the most robotic analytic manager that there ever has been
- 14:25Speaker 6: in all the land. And Clayton mccallug got hired by
- 14:28Speaker 6: the Marlins because he's like an amazing dude, and the
- 14:32Speaker 6: Marlins are like, well, we can't hire anybody that wants
- 14:34Speaker 6: to win because or that has had experience, so we
- 14:38Speaker 6: need to take the next best available. I get it
- 14:41Speaker 6: that they're hiring their best guys. I'm saying Buster Posey
- 14:45Speaker 6: is going so outside the box that if he's going
- 14:48Speaker 6: to go this far outside.
- 14:50Speaker 4: The box, he's not looking to hope to win. He's
- 14:54Speaker 4: all in and expects greatness right away.
- 14:59Speaker 3: And also gonna pay him.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I mean, he's the second highest paid college baseball coach
- 15:04Speaker 1: over three million bucks. That's more than at least like
- 15:07Speaker 1: half the manager's out there already. Again, there's there's tennish
- 15:11Speaker 1: openings right now.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I mean, he's gonna have to get probably five million
- 15:13Speaker 2: to make up for having a move and all that.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Stuff, and probably at least four years maybe five. Right
- 15:20Speaker 1: if you're proaching a guy because you can you can
- 15:22Speaker 1: run that program for a long time. You don't think, Sokratz,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you think he's only getting two or three.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I think he's getting under Do you think? Do you
- 15:29Speaker 4: think and maybe, hey, you know what, maybe Buster's like,
- 15:32Speaker 4: I don't care what anybody else thinks. I think a
- 15:33Speaker 4: manager is important and they should get paid. You think
- 15:36Speaker 4: the rest of Major League Baseball's gonna allow the Giants
- 15:39Speaker 4: to without like just saying like, hey, bro, like we
- 15:41Speaker 4: can't be hiring a first year manager. I get it,
- 15:44Speaker 4: he's got experience, nobody's gonna come in with as much
- 15:48Speaker 4: college experience, but a first year manager getting more than
- 15:51Speaker 4: three million Kevin Cash is gonna be like, uh, STU,
- 15:56Speaker 4: can you give me the name of the new owners
- 15:58Speaker 4: of the team, because I need a race, Eric Meander, Please,
- 16:02Speaker 4: I need a race? Has that been here for a
- 16:04Speaker 4: while and I'm not making three point two?
- 16:06Speaker 1: Hey, congrats to Martin Maldonado. He announced his retirement over
- 16:10Speaker 1: the weekend. His life changed when he did an in
- 16:14Speaker 1: game interview with Aj Prazinski a year and a half ago,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and he asked Aj how he deals with his body
- 16:19Speaker 1: breaking down, and AJ said, my body's not breaking that.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I don't know, never did. I'll let you know what
- 16:25Speaker 2: it does. Martin. Congratulations on a great career, and.
- 16:27Speaker 1: From then on he said, I think I got to
- 16:29Speaker 1: start planning for my retirement. He was still in the
- 16:33Speaker 1: playoffs though this year at the Padres.
- 16:35Speaker 2: For an unbelievable career. He's a really nice guy to
- 16:37Speaker 2: talk to too, really really nice.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You can tell why he succeeded though, right like, got
- 16:42Speaker 1: along with everyone, good speaker, super prepped, I mean you
- 16:46Speaker 1: could see what he did. Also, would do anything to
- 16:48Speaker 1: win a game. We talked the other day about he
- 16:50Speaker 1: was like crowding the plate to get hit by pitches
- 16:52Speaker 1: when he didn't feel like he could contribute in the playoffs.
- 16:55Speaker 1: When was that against the Braves? I want to say
- 16:57Speaker 1: in twenty one so great.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Career, Yeah, unbelievable career. Good for you, my shit take.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Fifteen years, had a great run, a long time, a
- 17:07Speaker 1: lot of playoffs, a lot of playoffs.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, winning player.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I'm sure you can appreciate crafts what he did, and
- 17:13Speaker 1: obviously watching his craftsmanship.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Should should have could have been a forever backup. Continue
- 17:21Speaker 4: to do the things that he did really well at
- 17:23Speaker 4: an elite level, and the other things. Teams understood that
- 17:29Speaker 4: pitch calling was a huge value. Maybe he didn't offer
- 17:31Speaker 4: a lot with the bat, especially late in his career,
- 17:34Speaker 4: but man, he got talk about somebody got the most
- 17:38Speaker 4: out of their career. That is wait managerial job opening.
- 17:43Speaker 4: That's why you're retiring, Martin. Oh you want to be
- 17:46Speaker 4: a manager right away, the first ever, right off the
- 17:48Speaker 4: field literally one year in Okay, deal, go for it, Martin.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Good luck.
- 17:54Speaker 1: There's a lot of phone calls to that. I need you,
- 17:55Speaker 1: guys to focus on the show.
- 17:57Speaker 2: You. I am focused on the show. You got a
- 17:59Speaker 2: phone call with well, so my full hell called me
- 18:01Speaker 2: to say thank you to Jeffers pumping up the guy.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Sorry, Scott, nobody calls you, don't. Don't be jealousy does?
- 18:09Speaker 1: I got mad if somebody calls me that knows me
- 18:12Speaker 1: during the show.
- 18:12Speaker 2: So I'm like, nobody calls me because they know I
- 18:16Speaker 2: don't answer.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Really they text you?
- 18:19Speaker 2: Yes, Yeah, I mean it takes it. It's really special
- 18:21Speaker 2: if someone calls me an answer.
- 18:23Speaker 1: In your answer, Yeah, especially like unprompted. You don't know
- 18:25Speaker 1: they're calling and you're or I mean if it's not
- 18:28Speaker 1: a number, you know.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Unless it's like my kids or somebody, and I usually
- 18:31Speaker 2: don't answer. So don't nobody take it personally?
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 1: The Astros signed up Nate Pearson one year, one point
- 18:38Speaker 1: three five million dollars major league contract. They're going to
- 18:40Speaker 1: give him a chance to be a starting pitcher. He
- 18:42Speaker 1: used to be a big deal pitching prospect in the
- 18:47Speaker 1: Toronto Blue Jays system. Remember, I mean he was like
- 18:49Speaker 1: a top three pitching prospect. Yeah, he was a big
- 18:52Speaker 1: time Yeah, he's twenty nine now.
- 18:53Speaker 3: It hasn't worked out.
- 18:54Speaker 2: He was hurt though. For a while. They tried him
- 18:56Speaker 2: as a reliever. They tried him as a starter.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You can't throw strikes this this past year he barely
- 19:01Speaker 1: pitched in the major thing. It was like fifteen innings.
- 19:03Speaker 1: He was mostly in Triple A. But twenty nine. It's
- 19:06Speaker 1: not thirty nine.
- 19:06Speaker 3: You never know.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I think Dana Brown was working maybe for the Blue
- 19:11Speaker 1: Jays or something when he was picked. There's a connection
- 19:13Speaker 1: there because some people are looking like wait, free agency started. No,
- 19:17Speaker 1: he was cut by the Cubs in September, so then
- 19:19Speaker 1: you can sign early like this a million.
- 19:23Speaker 2: One point three five million.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, teams do this.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Sometimes they'll try and catch a guy and give him
- 19:28Speaker 1: a little bit more than he would get on a
- 19:30Speaker 1: minimum or whatever now to just beat the competition, right.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Because they don't want him to go and have a
- 19:36Speaker 2: showcase and come out firing and then yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you throw something at him now and see if
- 19:41Speaker 3: it sticks.
- 19:42Speaker 4: He looks good in the showcase.
- 19:45Speaker 3: What is he like?
- 19:45Speaker 4: Six six six', seven over the top banger some reason
- 19:50Speaker 4: you could see the ball out of his hand really,
- 19:52Speaker 4: Well i'm not sure what it. WAS i just remember
- 19:54Speaker 4: facing him when he first came up
