- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Should I keep making the coloring pages?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: They take me some time to draw, and I am so happy to make them, but I just want to know if you're actually using them, so please have a grown-up, send me a message at mirror at that Jewish Moment.com and let me know.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I hope you're ready because we're jumping right back in, and I've got a mystery waiting for you.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Listen closely, clue by clue, solve the mystery.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Who are you?
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Mystery Mirror, a Jewish guessing game for kids.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I am Sari from that Jewish moment, and in each episode of Mystery Mirror, you will become a mystery person, place, or thing from the Jewish world.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I'll give you clues in three rounds.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Round one, tricky clues, round two, getting closer, and round three, almost there.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Your mission is to guess who or what you are before the big reveal at the end.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Are you ready to look in the mystery mirror?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Alright detectives, let's begin.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Round one.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: You are a thing.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: You're connected to a time of year when people think about new beginnings.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And you're hiding something, but you have to be opened up to find it.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: The shape of you is often found on decorations.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Do you know what you are yet?
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Round two.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: You grow on a tree or a shrub in warmer climates.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: You have a tough outside that protects what is inside.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: You can be eaten fresh or used in different foods and drinks.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you're used to add a bright splash of color to a dish.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: You actually make a great addition to salads.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: What's inside you comes in lots and lots of little pieces, and you might be found on a table during a specific Jewish holiday.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Now, do you have any idea what you could be?
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Round three.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: You're usually round and have a reddish skin.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Inside you're filled with hundreds of juicy seeds, and your seeds are sweet and slightly tart.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Your inside is often deep red or ruby colored, and your seeds are surrounded by a white bitter membrane, and you have a little crown-like shape on top.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: And in Jewish homes, people eat you on Rosh Hashanah, and they hope that their mitzvot or good deeds will be as numerous as your seeds.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Now do you know what you are?
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Are you ready for the reveal?
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Look in the mirror.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: You are a pomegranate mozzle-toe mystery solved.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Did you know that pomegranates are technically considered a berry?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Pomegranate flowers are usually bright red or orange, and the trees can grow to be around 20 feet tall.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Pomegranate juice can be used as a natural dye to give color, and it also has a lot of health benefits.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Did you know that pomegranates are one of the seven species associated with the land of Israel, the Shivataminim, and the high priest, the Kohenhagadal, wore special clothing with pomegranate shapes and golden bells on the bottom.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: And these days, pomegranate shapes appear in Jewish art on things like shul or synagogue decorations, Torah ornaments, and lots of other Jewish artifacts.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And the Hebrew word for pomegranate is Rimon.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Get ready for game time.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Let's play ISPY.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Without moving from where you are right now, see if you can find something near you that fits the descriptions I say.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Ready?
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Find something red.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Find something that grows from the ground.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Find something edible.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And finally, find something that reminds you of Rosh Hashanah.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And now it's time for your mystery mirror mission.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Turn a pomegranate into a character.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Give it a name, a personality, give it a superpower.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Draw the character or write its story and ask a grown up to send it to mirror at that JewishMoment.com.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Until next time.
