- 0:11Hello, friends, it's Sean here. It's Friday.
- 0:15You clever people. You've made it to the end of
- 0:17another week and it's actually, Can you believe it?
- 0:21It's the 28th of February. We have reached the end of the
- 0:25month. Oh man, February.
- 0:27That just goes by so fast. Yes, yes, we are up to the end
- 0:31of the second month of 2025 already.
- 0:34And while the year seems to be going quickly, there are some
- 0:38things which are still going at a lovely pace, like reading
- 0:41through Proverbs, right? We have been doing this for a
- 0:44few weeks now and we're still in Proverbs 10.
- 0:47This is our 4th reading from Proverbs 10, and we'll have one
- 0:51more after today as we are just dipping our toe, hearing a few
- 0:57of these sayings of the wisdom of Solomon, thinking about how
- 1:01we can apply them to our lives, how we can reflect on them as
- 1:05good teaching about a life well lived.
- 1:08Ah, it's wonderful stuff and I've been enjoying it.
- 1:11I really hope you're enjoying it too.
- 1:13And we'll continue doing this all through the year.
- 1:17That is our Friday date, friends, you and me.
- 1:19Well, you and me and Solomon and the Holy Spirit.
- 1:23So that's quite a full date, but it is glorious as we work
- 1:27through these proverbs together. So without any further delay,
- 1:31let us dive in here these 7 proverbs that we'll read
- 1:36together today. Reading Proverbs chapter 1019 to
- 1:4025. Too much talk leads to sin.
- 1:54Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
- 1:59The words of the godly are like sterling silver.
- 2:03The heart of a fool is worthless.
- 2:07The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by
- 2:12their lack of common sense. The blessing of the Lord makes a
- 2:17person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
- 2:22Doing wrong is fun for a fool, but living wisely brings
- 2:27pleasure to the sensible. The fears of the wicked will be
- 2:33fulfilled, the hopes of the godly will be granted when the
- 2:40storms of life come. The wicked are world away, but
- 2:44the godly have a lasting foundation.
- 2:57Oh, there is so much truth in these proverbs Lord, and as we
- 3:02read that final proverb that when the storms of life come, we
- 3:06see all too often people get world away with the challenges
- 3:12that would draw them into a spin and getting flung off in all
- 3:17directions. But you say that the godly have
- 3:20a lasting foundation. Oh Father, let our feet be
- 3:26planted firmly on You as our foundation, so when life throws
- 3:32all these different challenges and pulls toward us, that we can
- 3:38continue to stand firm, Knowing that we are your children.
- 3:43That our identity is found in you, Not in what others think of
- 3:48us, not in what the world tells us we should or shouldn't be,
- 3:52but knowing that we are already bought with the blood of Jesus
- 3:57and we stand secure in You. And as the other Proverbs said,
- 4:04that from this place of such assuredness and grace that our
- 4:10words, the words of the godly, may encourage many.
- 4:15Our Lord, I pray that You would give us words of grace and truth
- 4:20that we can share with the world around us that so desperately
- 4:24needs to know about You. As we stand firm on You, help
- 4:30our words of love and compassion draw others to You as well, so
- 4:35that they too can find beneath their feet the eternal God of
- 4:40the universe and not the whirlwinds of this world.
- 4:44So we just commit ourselves to You, use us to further Your
- 4:48Kingdom, hold us in the firmness of Your presence, and continue
- 4:54to love us because You are this wonderful, wonderful, saving
- 4:59God. And we are so grateful for you.
- 5:03And we pray all of this in your precious saving name, Jesus,
- 5:08Amen.
