  [SPEAKER_01]: It's the Open Era by Edward Schmidt, which I think that's y'all will love it.

  [SPEAKER_01]: It's a novel about the first openly gay man to play in the US Open.

  [SPEAKER_01]: And it is a little bit like he did rivalry-esque because he has a bit of a romance with another player, but it's really good because it explores anxiety in a really thoughtful way.

  [SPEAKER_01]: I love the way that he writes about it.

  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm absolutely obsessed with this book, but there are several Gilmore girls mentions in this book.

  [SPEAKER_01]: Because his comfort show, Austin, the main character, his comfort show is Gilmore girls.

  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so I love that when I was reading it on my Kindle, they were talking about like their comfort shows and his like love interest Diego says what his comfort show is and then he asked Austin the main character what his is and I like had to turn the page before I got to Austin's and I was like it's going to be Gilmore girls and I could feel it in my soul and I turned the like click to go to the next page and he said Gilmore girls and I was like no way but it's Edward Schwitz debut novel

  [SPEAKER_01]: And it is so well written, like I just kept having to like pause and be like, it sounds so dumb, like if you're not like reading a lot, but like on a sentence level, his book is just so good and so thoughtful.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But we're here today to talk about some of our favorite Tony lines and actually we're going to build like a top 10 list in no particular order because I think if we rang to them we'd be here for a really long time.

  [SPEAKER_01]: But I also think this is going to be one of those episodes that like if you are a casual listener or you're listening like this is one of your first times listening to the podcast maybe one of the newer episodes that you're going to be like what are these selections like why why did you girls pick these aren't lines these are just things that were said in the script and these aren't lines that they wrote these are just sentences, but like some of them like when Tara and I hear them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's the thing is you have to consider the line that came before it, which was Taylor accusing him of peddling drug paraphernalia to kids and he says it was a lava line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But as a standalone line, it's like the show is so well written that like standalone lines are kind of what I'm, I'm standing up, I know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so this kind of goes hand in hand with the story that I've been wanting to tell you, but then when we decided to do this episode, I was like, oh, this is a perfect opportunity to tell her the story.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So last week, Brett and I were doing, we were like sitting outside of blue bottle, where we normally get coffee, and we were doing the crossword puzzle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I immediately knew it was Tito Ponte.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Brett was like, Ponte, I know this.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I said Tito, he goes, oh, wow, yeah, you're totally right.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I said, well, no, no, I know that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I told him about this moment, and we were laughing so hard because you know Patricia LaCosta has his favorite character, his favorite townie.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Aadiya Darlite, in season one episode 16 star cross lovers and other strangers in the cold open, Ms. Patty is narrating this really beautiful story about, you know, the history of the town and why they're celebrating the firelight festival and it's the introduction to the firelight festival for us as an audience because this is the first one in season one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, fair for me, that, for me, is like, a mispaddy has some iconic lines, even before this, in Cinnamon's Wake, when she's in Dosie's Market and she's got the plum and she goes, Rory, try a plum, they're better than sex.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I can't, so that line really gets me, but her, who wants to hear about the time I dance and engaged for Tito Puente.

  [SPEAKER_01]: And like so many of my favorite lines from that are from the good more girls, but like just the interaction of like learning how Taylor interacts with.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is of course where Laura Lyme were walking through town and they get to Luke's and we get introduced to Taylor Docey and Taylor and Luke are going back and forth about him like putting up fall decorations in Luke's and of course Luke is opposed to it.
