Mount Rainier Fire Forces Closures | Seattle News
A new wildfire, the Grand Park 2 Fire, has erupted in Mount Rainier National Park’s northeast corner, burning roughly 200 acres and forcing closures of Sunrise and White River areas until it’s safe. Officials are still investigating its cause and whether it’s contained within park boundaries. Earlier this week, a smaller fire—the Backbone Fire—flared up nearby in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, adding to the ongoing monitoring efforts as both fires remain active and under observation.
