- 0:00Speaker 1: I have, you know.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Is this sponsored?
- 0:03Speaker 1: No, but I have.
- 0:04Speaker 2: But you have a.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:07Speaker 3: It's Radio From Hell with another list. Because people love
- 0:11Speaker 3: a good list.
- 0:13Speaker 1: X96. It goes without saying that the internet has caused
- 0:16Speaker 1: a bit of misinformation in the modern age.
- 0:19Speaker 3: What?
- 0:20Speaker 1: I mean, someone could just say something online and everyone
- 0:22Speaker 1: just runs with it.
- 0:23Speaker 2: These myth, mistruths.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Either come from misunderstanding or someone just lying or not
- 0:28Speaker 1: bothering to fact check, and that is not ignored by
- 0:33Speaker 1: the movies. I have a list of things that everyone
- 0:36Speaker 1: believes about the movies that aren't true. And I was
- 0:39Speaker 1: surprised at some of these that I believed, including this
- 0:43Speaker 1: first one. The reaction to the hospital explosion in The
- 0:48Speaker 1: Dark Knight.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 1: One of the most famous moments in The Dark Knight
- 0:52Speaker 1: is when the Joker, Heath Ledger, walks out of the
- 0:54Speaker 1: hospital and it explodes behind him. And the explosions stop
- 0:58Speaker 1: and the Joker humorously fidgets around for a beat, wondering
- 1:01Speaker 1: what went wrong with his detonator. A myth was formed,
- 1:06Speaker 1: perhaps due to Ledger's intense commitment and embodying the character,
- 1:10Speaker 1: that the pause in the explosions wasn't supposed to happen
- 1:12Speaker 1: and that Ledger simply filled in the time fidgeting around.
- 1:15Speaker 1: The truth is, of course, it was all carefully planned.
- 1:18Speaker 3: But I have.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I have heard that for years, that he was just improvising.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I've heard it, but I knew it was wrong.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I don't believe Christopher Nolan is a huge fan of improvisation.
- 1:33Speaker 1: All the clocks set to 420 in Pulp Fiction is false.
- 1:38Speaker 3: They're not.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Pulp Fiction posters continue to populate college dorm rooms. Perhaps
- 1:43Speaker 1: one day when some college students are engaged in some
- 1:46Speaker 1: extracurricular activities, one casually mentioned. You know all the clocks
- 1:49Speaker 1: in Pulp Fiction are set to 420.
- 1:51Speaker 3: No, they're not. They're set to 520, which I don't
- 1:57Speaker 3: know why.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Leonardo DiCaprio smeared real blood on Kerry Washington's face in
- 2:03Speaker 1: Django Unchained. No, of course not. In Being John Malkovich,
- 2:10Speaker 1: an extra improvised chucking a beer can at John Malkovich.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I've never heard that one before.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You don't improvise something like that.
- 2:18Speaker 1: A persistent rumor is that the scene with the person
- 2:20Speaker 1: throwing a beer can at John Malkovich wasn't supposed to happen.
- 2:22Speaker 1: According to the legend, the extras got drunk that night
- 2:25Speaker 1: and one thought it would be funny to throw something
- 2:28Speaker 1: out of a car window. No, no, no. I've never
- 2:32Speaker 1: heard this one. They used milk as the rain in
- 2:35Speaker 1: Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly so you could
- 2:38Speaker 1: see it better.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I've not heard that. Because it wouldn't show.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Up well on film. Water reflects light, so any... Light
- 2:45Speaker 1: sources in front of rainfall wouldn't have allowed it to
- 2:47Speaker 1: show up on camera. That's probably where the milk myth originated.
- 2:51Speaker 3: But then it would look like milk, wouldn't it?
- 2:53Speaker 1: Instead, the crew backlit rain, putting light sources behind it
- 2:57Speaker 1: that made it look kind of.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I never heard that one before.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Anthony Hopkins never blinks in Silence of the Lambs.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Not true.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Not true.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Of course he... He doesn't blink a lot.
- 3:09Speaker 2: No.
- 3:09Speaker 3: No. he has a very good ability to sort of
- 3:12Speaker 3: stare without blinking.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Snow White is the first feature-length animated film.
- 3:19Speaker 3: That's what I thought.
- 3:20Speaker 1: You ask most people which first feature-length animated film, they'd
- 3:23Speaker 1: say Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from 1937. But
- 3:27Speaker 1: that is not technically true. Even if we're splitting hairs
- 3:29Speaker 1: a bit, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the
- 3:31Speaker 1: first feature-length cell animated movie, but there were several other
- 3:35Speaker 1: films preceding it. It's believed an Argentinian animator made some
- 3:41Speaker 1: animated features. They've been lost to time, though. But we
- 3:44Speaker 1: also still have 1926's The Adventures of Prince Ahmed, a
- 3:50Speaker 1: German director.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Oh, that's a one.
- 3:52Speaker 1: No? No. Well, it says, Bill, it remains one of
- 3:54Speaker 1: the most beautifully animated films of all time.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Huh. Prince Ahmed. Yeah. And it's German, did you say?
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, from 1926. So I don't know if you can
- 4:03Speaker 1: see it anywhere.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I'll bet you can find it online.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Another falsehood. Blazing Saddles has the first audible cinematic fart.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I didn't know.
- 4:16Speaker 3: This was a rumor.
- 4:18Speaker 1: The film typically gets credited for having cinema's first fart
- 4:22Speaker 1: joke with a scene depicting cowboys eating beans and letting
- 4:25Speaker 1: it rip.
- 4:25Speaker 3: No.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It might have been the first fart joke in an
- 4:28Speaker 1: American movie, but Japan was way ahead of.
- 4:31Speaker 2: The curve on this one.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Japan, Japanese think farts are way funnier than we do.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah. You can go all the way back to 1959
- 4:38Speaker 1: for a film called Good Morning. Flatulence is of utmost
- 4:42Speaker 1: importance in this story about young boys coming of age,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and it includes them discovering how joyous farts can be.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It is, yes.
- 4:50Speaker 3: How joyous farts can be.
- 4:52Speaker 2: They are joyous.
- 4:53Speaker 1: A stunned man was killed during the chariot racing scene
- 4:57Speaker 1: in Bed-Hur.
- 4:58Speaker 2: False.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I always thought that was true.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I heard that, yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 1: One, reportedly the death can be found in the movie,
- 5:05Speaker 1: which has surely led to countless people trying to pause
- 5:07Speaker 1: at just the right moment to see if it's a
- 5:09Speaker 1: snuff film. There's zero proof that any death occurred. It's
- 5:14Speaker 1: possible this rumor got entangled with the 1925 version of Ben-Hur,
- 5:18Speaker 1: which was nothing short of a disaster. During that production,
- 5:21Speaker 1: a wheel fell off a chariot, causing a stunt performer
- 5:24Speaker 1: to fall and die. So it was in a different
- 5:26Speaker 1: Ben-Hur film. I've seen a couple.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Of scenes of that film, the 1925 one. Which, it's silent,
- 5:32Speaker 3: and it's really terrible.
- 5:35Speaker 1: CGI was used to reduce Brandon Routh's bulge in Superman Returns. Apparently, his.
- 5:43Speaker 3: You mean his codpiece?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 2: That's not true.
- 5:48Speaker 1: No. No. Let's see. James Cameron didn't cast O.J. Simpson
- 5:54Speaker 1: as the Terminator because he wasn't believable as a killer.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I've never heard that one.
- 5:59Speaker 2: No one would believe O.J.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Killed him.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Well, that may be kind of true.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Apparently, Simpson's name was thrown around during a meeting Cameron
- 6:09Speaker 1: had with an executive. They were never seriously considering him,
- 6:12Speaker 1: but they apparently had said, how about O.J.? Oh, this.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Was back when he was beloved. Yeah. I mean, when I...
- 6:19Speaker 3: When I heard that O.J. Simpson had been, I think
- 6:23Speaker 3: we were on a plane and getting ready to leave Europe.
- 6:26Speaker 3: And somebody started talking about it and I'm going, what? O.J.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Simpson did what? You know, it was just unbelievable. I
- 6:33Speaker 3: couldn't believe, I just was stunned.
- 6:37Speaker 1: This is another one I always thought was true. The
- 6:39Speaker 1: kids in Goonies didn't see the pirate ship before filming.
- 6:43Speaker 1: A full-scale pirate ship was built for the Goonies, and
- 6:46Speaker 1: the kids' reaction seemed so genuine that a myth materialized
- 6:49Speaker 1: that they weren't allowed to see the ship ahead of time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Sean Astin said he saw the ship ahead of time
- 6:55Speaker 1: and jokingly mentioned, I was sort of offended that people
- 6:57Speaker 1: had the idea, but they wouldn't let the kids see
- 7:00Speaker 1: it so that they could capture their reaction. He's like, well,
- 7:03Speaker 1: we're actors. We can act that.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We are surprised. Calm down, Olivier.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And the last one is Brad Pitt was only paid
- 7:14Speaker 1: a cup of coffee for his cameo in Deadpool 2.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Is the rumor, if that's all.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And he's on screen for a quarter of a second. Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I don't think that was even worth a cup of coffee. Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Apparently, Pitt... Pitt did get paid. We don't know how much,
- 7:35Speaker 1: but I'm sure he did.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Mr. Pitt doesn't roll out of bed for less than
- 7:39Speaker 2: a cup of coffee.
- 7:40Speaker 1: That's a good cup of coffee, I guess.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Oh, all right.
- 7:43Speaker 1: There you go.
- 7:44Speaker 2: We hope you enjoyed another list with Radio From Hell
- 7:48Speaker 2: on X96.
