  Speaker 1: dig me now. One and only Steve Harvey got a

  Speaker 1: radio show. I was had my head down and it

  Speaker 1: was thinking of what I wanted to say this morning.

  Speaker 1: But it kind of, uh, it's kind of be something

  Speaker 1: I've lived for a long time, and you know, for
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: a long time, you know, I had a lot of
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: faith in people. You know. It's strange too, because you know,
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: you know, my mother was a Sunday school teacher, so
• 2:39
  Speaker 1: of course I grew up around knowing, uh, scriptures and
• 2:43
  Speaker 1: things like that. Not not a lot of them, but
• 2:45
  Speaker 1: you know, the ones I retained. But having her as
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: a mother was was a huge help and understand about faith.
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: But even with that, as I grew up, I began
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: to put a lot of faith in people, and you know,
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: I figured, uh, you know, just like everybody else, you know,
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: man if I could just meet this person, or if
• 3:07
  Speaker 1: I could just sit down with that person, or man
• 3:10
  Speaker 1: if I could just get this person to hear my ideal,
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: or man if just if this person could hear my track,
• 3:17
  Speaker 1: or man if I could just get this in the
• 3:19
  Speaker 1: hands of somebody in the know. I was, like everybody else,
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: I thought that way. You know, I actually thought that
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: if I could get in a certain situation with a
• 3:29
  Speaker 1: certain person, that if a certain person were to meet me,
• 3:33
  Speaker 1: that you know, it could change everything for me. Oh man,
• 3:38
  Speaker 1: Oh how wrong I was? Oh how wrong I was?

  Speaker 1: How long did I spend feeling that way? And how
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: many of you out there possibly have felt that way before?
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: You know, like even in a relationship, this is the
• 3:51
  Speaker 1: person for me, and you know, you just lay claim
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: to that, you know, not necessarily being a fact, but
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: you just lay claim to it. This is the person

  Speaker 1: and for me, this is the person that I want
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: to spend the rest of my life with. You know,
• 4:04
  Speaker 1: sometimes you know, we just lay claim and stuff, and
• 4:06
  Speaker 1: it's not always what's in our best interest or it's
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: not always a fact. It's just what we decided we wanted.
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: And I was guilty of that just like anybody else.
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: And I spent a lot of years in my life
• 4:19
  Speaker 1: putting faith in people. Man, if I could tell you
• 4:22
  Speaker 1: anything this morning, it's to stop putting your faith in
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: people and put your faith in God where it counts
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: the most. I mean, you can get something out of
• 4:31
  Speaker 1: this one. See, here's a deal about a relationship with God.
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: It's the same all the time. He never changes. His
• 4:39
  Speaker 1: word is one hundred percent absolute. His word doesn't have
• 4:42
  Speaker 1: loopholes in it, none of that. It's this is what
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: it is. He's very clear. Now, you can deviate off
• 4:50
  Speaker 1: your end of a bargain, but it don't stop what
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: he says from being true. But if he asked you
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: to do something, if God asked you to be a
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: certain way, to do a little something a certain way,
• 5:02
  Speaker 1: and you don't do it that way, then you know
• 5:05
  Speaker 1: you could still possibly get by for a while. But
• 5:09
  Speaker 1: don't you understand that his end of the deal stays
• 5:12
  Speaker 1: the same, and as long as you're not doing it
• 5:15
  Speaker 1: the way you're supposed to, the results are not going
• 5:17
  Speaker 1: to be what you wanted to be And I did
• 5:19
  Speaker 1: this for years and years and years, and I counted
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: on people, and you know, I got myself in a
• 5:26
  Speaker 1: lot of situations. And I got out one a dire
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: situation that I'd been in for a number of years.

  Speaker 1: But he had protected me from years prior to that.
• 5:34
  Speaker 1: I didn't even know what was going on. And then
• 5:37
  Speaker 1: he made it, made me aware of the problem. And then, man,
• 5:41
  Speaker 1: Lord have mercy, I was in a dismal situation. And
• 5:44
  Speaker 1: then at the end of the year, I was free,
• 5:47
  Speaker 1: free from it all. But it was a decision that
• 5:50
  Speaker 1: I had made that led up to that, and in
• 5:54
  Speaker 1: going through that process, I had to learn something. Man.

  Speaker 1: I learned a lot about people. See, if you want
• 6:01
  Speaker 1: to learn about your friends, if you want to learn
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: about your people people around you, Get yourself in some trouble,
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: get yourself in a situation, oh man, you start looking around,
• 6:12
  Speaker 1: man to feel get real clear when you're in trouble.
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: The feel clear is out when you're in doubt, when
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: you don't know what to do, when you need help it,
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: get real clear on the play and field, then don't it. Ah.
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: But when things is going right, it's time for a party.

  Speaker 1: We throwing a celebration. We gonna we're gonna do one
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: down here. Oh man, there's plenty of people on the field.

  Speaker 1: But but but get yourself in a situation. You find
• 6:38
  Speaker 1: out rather quickly that oh no, oh no, everybody ain't here.

  Speaker 1: And that's when I started learning. And I'm telling you,
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: I had to start learning this for real until I
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: finally got it to stop putting my faith in people
• 6:52
  Speaker 1: and put all the mind in God where it counts
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: the most. Now is that to say that there are
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: people that you can't trust. No, that's not what I'm saying.

  Speaker 1: I ain't say you can't trust him, but you can't

  Speaker 1: dump your faith in them. I got it all riding
• 7:06
  Speaker 1: on what he say. I got it all riding on

  Speaker 1: what she say. No, no, uh uh no, I hear

  Speaker 1: you saying it. But I'm gonna keep my own this
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: situation because I hear you saying it. But I'm gonna

  Speaker 1: take this faith of mine and instead of putting it
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: in people, I'm gonna put it in God where it
• 7:27
  Speaker 1: counts the most. Because his word is absolute. What he
• 7:31
  Speaker 1: say he's gonna do, he gonna do what he says.
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: He's not gonna tolerate, he's not gonna tolerate. Now, you
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: can make it, you can make it tolerable for yourself,
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: but he's not gonna tolerate it. And that's just the
• 7:41
  Speaker 1: end of the line. And so you know, I'm wondering
• 7:44
  Speaker 1: how many people out there find themselves in a situation
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: like me. Or maybe you've gotten yourself in a situation
• 7:50
  Speaker 1: because you put your faith in some people and now
• 7:52
  Speaker 1: you wound up in a different type of situation. Now,
• 7:55
  Speaker 1: let me ask you where the people at the only
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: one that I found when I was in my deepest trouble,
• 8:04
  Speaker 1: when me and my wife were in our darkest situation,
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: was God. It was the only one, was the only
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: one who was just right there, right there all the
• 8:14
  Speaker 1: way through. Now, let me explain something to you. Because
• 8:21
  Speaker 1: you have this relationship with God, it does not mean,
• 8:24
  Speaker 1: it does not mean now that it won't get it
• 8:27
  Speaker 1: won't still be a situation, you understand. But what He
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: will do is protect you during that period. He'll cover
• 8:37
  Speaker 1: you during that period that it is a situation. He
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: will give you the strength to overcome the situation when
• 8:44
  Speaker 1: it turns into a situation. Then when He cracks it
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: open for you and the sun is bright and shining.

  Speaker 1: What he don't want you to do is when it
• 8:52
  Speaker 1: gets sunny again, to forget about him, who was there
• 8:56
  Speaker 1: when it was dark for you. See, I used to
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: do that too, you know. I was Oh, man, I

  Speaker 1: did it. I'm telling you right now, I did it.
• 9:04
  Speaker 1: But I'm telling you man, when I learned a very
• 9:07
  Speaker 1: serious lesson and I watched some people I thought were
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: friends of mine just sort of casually remove themselves from
• 9:17
  Speaker 1: the situation. Then I said, okay. Me and Marjorie looked around.
• 9:21
  Speaker 1: We said, okay, it's just me, you and God. And
• 9:24
  Speaker 1: when we started conducting ourselves accordingly. So when it's sunny
• 9:29
  Speaker 1: for us, we remember God. We stay prayerful, we keep
• 9:33
  Speaker 1: talking to him. We thank him for the sunshine, we
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: thank him for the dark days that he allowed us
• 9:39
  Speaker 1: to do, who allowed us to survive it and turn
• 9:41
  Speaker 1: it into sunny days. And we talked to him constantly
• 9:44
  Speaker 1: to protect us of our future enemies. And that's what
• 9:47
  Speaker 1: the deal is. So if I was everybody, I would
• 9:49
  Speaker 1: stop putting your faith in people and put your trust
• 9:52
  Speaker 1: in God where it really does count the most, it
• 9:55
