- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next to you.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: the show. Happy Wednesday to you, middle of the week.
- 0:16Speaker 1: But if you're enjoying your March holidays, you're probably saying, time,
- 0:19Speaker 1: please don't fly by so quickly. Hopefully
- 0:21Speaker 2: you're overseas and just enjoying yourselves before school starts again
- 0:25Speaker 2: next Tuesday.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's right. Singapore's number one hit
- 0:28Speaker 2: music station.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It's a new track by Charlie Puth and Hikaru Utata,
- 0:37Speaker 1: home right here on 987, Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I was very curious to know what's the story of
- 0:43Speaker 1: Hikaru Utata, and I found out she actually debuted in
- 0:47Speaker 1: December of 1998.
- 0:49Speaker 1: So she's 43 years old this year, but she looks 25.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Japanese and their skincare routine is
- 0:56Speaker 1: next level. Wow,
- 0:57Speaker 2: she's celebrating her 28th year. Congratulations.
- 1:02Speaker 1: So I, I believe um they became one of Japan's
- 1:05Speaker 1: top artists at the age of 15. So wow, amazing
- 1:08Speaker 1: how that collaboration came by. Anyway.
- 1:10Speaker 1: A warm welcome to the show in case you just
- 1:12Speaker 1: joined us and you're up this early for some reason.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Look, man, I must say this. Every time it's a
- 1:17Speaker 2: school holidays, I panic a little bit. Why? Because for
- 1:20Speaker 2: some strange reason, I can't get a cab or a
- 1:23Speaker 2: Grab or a Gojek or a Tada. I think the
- 1:26Speaker 2: drivers are resting and sleeping in as well.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Not just that, maybe they took their kids.
- 1:31Speaker 1: For a break. Yeah, so they need a break too, right? Our,
- 1:34Speaker 1: our private hire car
- 1:35Speaker 2: drivers can just leave one for me.
- 1:38Speaker 1: One near your area,
- 1:39Speaker 2: right? Or maybe it's time I did I did a
- 1:40Speaker 2: car rental.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Actually, you know, um, back then when I was an
- 1:44Speaker 1: intern at another news channel, I was actually assigned to
- 1:49Speaker 1: the early morning show, OK. So imagine, you know, we
- 1:51Speaker 1: start at 6 a.m., right?
- 1:53Speaker 1: For TV site, if they start at 6 a.m. for
- 1:55Speaker 1: the live broadcast, the news assistants are in at 3 a.m.
- 1:59Speaker 1: So I went in, I was one of the ones
- 2:01Speaker 1: that went at 3 a.m.
- 2:02Speaker 1: This guy near Pasir Ris at the time when I
- 2:04Speaker 1: was staying near my parents, he drives a cab. He
- 2:06Speaker 1: knew that I would go there every morning. He would
- 2:09Speaker 1: just wait for me and he would accept my, my booking.
- 2:12Speaker 1: So that was the arrangement we had. After he realized
- 2:14Speaker 1: every morning I was going at that time, he said, Girl, la,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I fetch you every day. I was like, Alright, lah,
- 2:18Speaker 1: let's go.
- 2:19Speaker 2: That's
- 2:19Speaker 2: the closest we'll ever get to having an actual driver. Yes,
- 2:22Speaker 2: like
- 2:22Speaker 1: private driver, right? Yeah. I wonder how he's doing actually.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Sonia, I have some bad news for you.
- 2:27Speaker 1: What's the bad
- 2:28Speaker 2: news?
- 2:29Speaker 2: This morning our now affectionate favorite football club is no
- 2:34Speaker 2: longer in the Champions League. Bordo Glin is out. So
- 2:38Speaker 2: apparently on the first leg, they beat Sporting Lisbon 3-0.
- 2:42Speaker 2: The second leg, which was played
- 2:44Speaker 1: yesterday from Portugal, yes.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So Sporting Lisbon actually beat them 5-0 to progress to
- 2:51Speaker 2: the next round, 5-3 on
- 2:53Speaker 2: aggregate.
- 2:54Speaker 1: OK, wait, so Bodo Glen is actually not too bad.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Of a club. Yeah, I
- 2:57Speaker 2: mean, they were the biggest surprises for this Champions League
- 3:01Speaker 2: season,
- 3:02Speaker 1: especially with a name like Bodo Glen, but I know
- 3:04Speaker 1: they don't know what Bodo means in this part of
- 3:06Speaker 1: the world. They don't. They are Norwegian. They have no idea.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so you won't be hearing me say Bodo Glint
- 3:12Speaker 2: anytime soon
- 3:12Speaker 1: on radio. I'm quite sad. I'm quite sad, even though I,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I know nothing about the club. I only know they're
- 3:17Speaker 1: from Norway, but I'll still get
- 3:18Speaker 2: you the Bodo Glinn jersey.
- 3:19Speaker 1: OK. OK. What's the color? Yellow. OK, not too bad.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yellow and.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It's quite in this year. Coming up in just a
- 3:26Speaker 1: few minutes, I wonder what we would have done in
- 3:29Speaker 1: this particular situation on board the MRT. I've never personally
- 3:33Speaker 1: witnessed something like this before, but I always wondered what
- 3:36Speaker 1: to do in times of, well, crisis.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Crisis
- 3:40Speaker 1: I would say it's a mini crisis lah. It's a
- 3:42Speaker 1: mini crisis.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Offering your seat to someone you think is pregnant. No, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 3:47Speaker 2: because that to me is a crisis.
- 3:48Speaker 1: No, no, no, nothing to do with that.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Why? Because you've, it's happened to you before,
- 3:53Speaker 2: is it?
- 3:53Speaker 1: Did you mistake someone?
- 3:55Speaker 2: And the lady gave me the most angry scowl ever.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Well, you didn't try to save the situation by like, oh,
- 4:04Speaker 1: would you like to sit if she's offended, like, no,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm getting.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's, it's a
- 4:08Speaker 2: case of digging the hole, you know what I mean?
- 4:10Speaker 1: But then
- 4:11Speaker 1: the thing is like if you don't offer and what
- 4:13Speaker 1: if she's really pregnant? Yeah, so either way
- 4:17Speaker 2: you lose better safe than sorry, damned if you do,
- 4:19Speaker 2: damned if you don't. So yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 1: just be like, oh, I'm going off anyway. They just
- 4:23Speaker 1: go off and take the next train.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I was at Clementi. Where am I going to get
- 4:28Speaker 2: off for a while? Why?
- 4:30Speaker 1: I don't know. No, thank
- 4:31Speaker 2: you. It's OK.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Anyway, coming up in just a bit, um, maybe this
- 4:35Speaker 1: will get you thinking, what would you do in this
- 4:38Speaker 1: situation on board a train? All the details next. So
- 4:40Speaker 1: I asked you a question earlier. I said, would you
- 4:43Speaker 1: know what to do if such a thing happened on
- 4:44Speaker 1: board a train or maybe even anywhere in public or
- 4:47Speaker 1: on board some form of public transport,
- 4:49Speaker 2: OK? Does it involve giving CPR?
- 4:51Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, it's nothing to do with that,
- 4:53Speaker 1: but it could have.
- 4:54Speaker 1: escalated to quite a bad situation if nobody did anything, OK?
- 5:00Speaker 1: But thankfully, on board your public transport, transport, including your trains,
- 5:04Speaker 1: there's an emergency button where you can press to stop, right?
- 5:07Speaker 1: And to alert the station rather so they can see
- 5:10Speaker 1: what they can do next. So over at Admiralty Station,
- 5:14Speaker 1: just reported in the news, um, yesterday evening.
- 5:17Speaker 1: A power bank caught fire. And I'm talking actual flames,
- 5:23Speaker 1: not just sparks and smoke. It was actual flames, completely
- 5:27Speaker 1: caught fire. People were heard, um, were seen screaming and
- 5:31Speaker 1: running away, and I think, um, someone pressed the emergency button,
- 5:34Speaker 1: so the staff, you know, were activated and it pulled
- 5:37Speaker 1: up at MOT station. But this woman, um, whom I
- 5:42Speaker 1: assume the power bank may belong to.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't want to make assumptions, but it seems that way,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and they're still investigating right now. She was seen stomping
- 5:52Speaker 1: on the power bank that was full up in flames
- 5:55Speaker 1: with her, with her foot to put out the flames,
- 5:57Speaker 1: to put out the flames. So I was like, wow,
- 5:59Speaker 1: this lady is damn brave. Either that or it was
- 6:02Speaker 1: most likely maybe the power bank belonged to her and
- 6:04Speaker 1: she got a shot, and she just did what she
- 6:06Speaker 1: could to put it out for public safety.
- 6:08Speaker 2: On
- 6:08Speaker 2: the flip side, yes, just helping Singapore just
- 6:11Speaker 1: helping
- 6:11Speaker 2: on the MRT.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm curious to know.
- 6:13Speaker 1: What it is, um, but the funny thing is, right
- 6:15Speaker 1: opposite her sitting very calmly is a man with a
- 6:18Speaker 1: walking stick. Seems like an elderly man. He's just looking
- 6:22Speaker 1: at the whole thing unfold. He's the only one sitting there,
- 6:24Speaker 1: by the way. Everybody's vacated the, the zone. He's just
- 6:28Speaker 1: chilling there watching the whole thing go down.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Maybe he judged the situation to be manageable, manageable, and
- 6:34Speaker 2: he went, OK, you know what, this is too much
- 6:36Speaker 2: effort to.
- 6:36Speaker 2: to stand up with a walking stick. I'm just gonna
- 6:38Speaker 2: sit here and wait till it goes up. It's like
- 6:41Speaker 2: the lady having the, uh, the hawker center meal that
- 6:45Speaker 2: was on fire
- 6:45Speaker 2: in January.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was, that was a bad. I can't
- 6:49Speaker 1: say the word. That's a meme, yeah, that was cool. Um, she, however,
- 6:53Speaker 1: was quite calm while she was stomping on the power bank.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So hopefully they'll see what's going on, but I think, um.
- 7:00Speaker 1: According to our, our experts and sources as well and
- 7:04Speaker 1: professionals out there, they're saying, hey, you know, please, uh,
- 7:07Speaker 1: make sure that your power banks are not like you
- 7:09Speaker 1: don't buy from some cheaper third party place, you know,
- 7:12Speaker 1: that anyhow charge and then it catches fire
- 7:14Speaker 2: when it comes to banks, I think a few brands
- 7:18Speaker 2: might be the ones that are more dependable Xiaomi power
- 7:22Speaker 2: banks and maybe even Belkin.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, balcony is really good. Yeah. And just make
- 7:27Speaker 1: sure that, you know, if, if you, if you sense
- 7:30Speaker 1: that there could be something wrong with your power bank,
- 7:32Speaker 1: like it's overheating like crazy, please go send it in
- 7:35Speaker 1: to check or, you know, maybe just don't, don't use it.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Sometimes it's not just your bank, it's the cables that
- 7:43Speaker 2: you buy, right, the cable might not be equipped to
- 7:47Speaker 2: handle the voltage, the amount of power that's surging through
- 7:49Speaker 2: it.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, so make sure you got it good. OK,
- 7:53Speaker 1: got it right.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Bring it out. $5000 up for grabs. Still no luck.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm just taking a look at the board right now.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Someone during halftime said fingers tapping on a hard surface,
- 8:04Speaker 1: definitely not the right answer.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I think
- 8:06Speaker 2: that one is a bit too obvious and too easy.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and I heard from some of our friends like
- 8:12Speaker 1: and Nick, you know, during lunch and all that, um,
- 8:14Speaker 1: some of the.
- 8:14Speaker 1: The guesses are quite repeated already at this point. So
- 8:18Speaker 1: we're not even gonna bother repeating those answers because, you know,
- 8:21Speaker 1: those are no-brainers. Cancel it off.
- 8:24Speaker 2: So we're playing for $5000 in a bit, but also Sonia,
- 8:27Speaker 2: before that, can I take you to Yishun?
- 8:29Speaker 1: OK, of course, I don't mind. It's been
- 8:31Speaker 2: a while. My nemesis is at it again.
- 8:36Speaker 1: The birds, yes,
- 8:38Speaker 2: and not just any bird, it's the,
- 8:40Speaker 1: the, the morning bird.
- 8:42Speaker 2: The crows,
- 8:43Speaker 1: the crow, sorry.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm OK
- 8:45Speaker 1: with the crows, the crows, the crows.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Find out what happened, well, not directly to Joe, at least,
- 8:52Speaker 1: in just a bit. Wake up.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Good next year.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Kicking off your day
- 8:58Speaker 2: in the
- 8:59Speaker 1: best
- 8:59Speaker 2: way.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It's Sonia and Joakim on
- 9:01Speaker 2: the shock
- 9:02Speaker 1: circuit. Good morning and welcome to the show in case
- 9:05Speaker 1: you just joined us. Happy midweek and the middle of
- 9:08Speaker 1: your March holiday.
- 9:09Speaker 2: We're going back to Yishun for a while before we
- 9:11Speaker 2: play for $5000
- 9:13Speaker 1: Sonia. But first, Tame Impala with Jenny going to kick
- 9:16Speaker 1: us off right here on the show. Stay tuned. Singapore's
- 9:18Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Definitely see you there at Media Corp's cloud nine happening very,
- 9:25Speaker 1: very soon, but for now we're going to Yishun first
- 9:28Speaker 1: before we go to the east for cloud nine.
- 9:30Speaker 2: My nemesis. They are at it again,
- 9:33Speaker 1: the crows.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But this reason, right, again, it's the kind of reason
- 9:38Speaker 2: that will split the comment section down the middle.
- 9:41Speaker 2: So, unfortunately for a lady, apparently in the last 3 weeks,
- 9:46Speaker 2: she was pecked more than 10 times by crows.
- 9:50Speaker 1: It's because, OK, I read up that usually because they're
- 9:53Speaker 1: defensive of their nesting area or their babies.
- 9:56Speaker 2: You
- 9:57Speaker 2: are absolutely right.
- 9:59Speaker 1: The nest
- 10:00Speaker 2: she
- 10:00Speaker 2: was, but she was just walking past it, but the
- 10:03Speaker 2: crows won't know unless you tell me you're a crow
- 10:05Speaker 2: whisperer and you're able to communicate with them. Stop it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: If I could communicate with the crows, I will tell them,
- 10:13Speaker 2: Look guys, you're in trouble. No, I won't say leave me.
- 10:16Speaker 2: You're in trouble. You better start behaving yourselves
- 10:20Speaker 2: properly.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Ah, they get,
- 10:24Speaker 1: is it? Yes, OK, OK.
- 10:25Speaker 2: So, unfortunately, you're right, the, the nests are around the
- 10:29Speaker 2: residential areas of Yishun, and some of these crows sometimes
- 10:32Speaker 2: they'll fly into the 6th floor corridor or the 5th
- 10:34Speaker 2: floor corridor of a certain Yishun HDB block, and
- 10:38Speaker 1: why,
- 10:38Speaker 1: why do they do that?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Because I think the nests are nearby, you know, the
- 10:42Speaker 2: trees are almost the same height.
- 10:43Speaker 2: So I guess residents are kind of a little bit worried.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Oh no, will I be attacked because not just this lady,
- 10:48Speaker 2: but a man's ear as well was packed by the crows,
- 10:51Speaker 2: but he was also walking by near a nested
- 10:53Speaker 1: area of a crowing your own business. That's just your
- 10:56Speaker 1: way home.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah. If there's a way to tell these crows that, hey,
- 11:01Speaker 2: we're not going to touch your nest. Yeah, we're not,
- 11:02Speaker 1: we're not hurting you.
- 11:03Speaker 2: We're just trying to get to point from point A
- 11:05Speaker 2: to point B. That's all. OK.
- 11:06Speaker 1: How do we communicate this? You try, you, you're the one.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Don't know what breed of bird that is, but it's
- 11:15Speaker 1: definitely not a crow.
- 11:17Speaker 2: It's more of a
- 11:17Speaker 1: cuckoo It is not. Coming up in a few minutes. I,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I'm not sure whether the phrase this could have happened
- 11:24Speaker 1: to the better of us. You know, it may have
- 11:27Speaker 1: happened or it might happen if we ever become parents, OK.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I'll fill you in about how a particular item caused
- 11:36Speaker 1: a family to miss their flight.
- 11:39Speaker 1: A particular item.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And you said this could have happened to families.
- 11:44Speaker 1: It could have happened to the best of us. I
- 11:46Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like sometimes, you know, you
- 11:48Speaker 1: may overlook certain things.
- 11:51Speaker 2: But this one is a family, is it?
- 11:52Speaker 1: It's a family, Singaporean family. I'm
- 11:54Speaker 2: gonna guess some toy.
- 11:55Speaker 1: You're right, some toy. But why did this toy cause
- 11:58Speaker 1: them to miss their flight? All the details. Well, I
- 12:01Speaker 1: guess we don't need to say who sang that and
- 12:03Speaker 1: what's the song title anymore right here on 987 Singapore.
- 12:06Speaker 1: number one hit music
- 12:07Speaker 1: station.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Can I say I love that she did her own
- 12:09Speaker 2: Dracula trend. Yes,
- 12:11Speaker 1: so cute.
- 12:12Speaker 2: And it's just Jenny walking down a random place. No,
- 12:15Speaker 2: it's
- 12:15Speaker 1: just her being her,
- 12:16Speaker 2: and it's millions of likes and views.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but if we walk down a random place, 00,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I got to pay for views like some influencers,
- 12:24Speaker 1: but
- 12:25Speaker 1: anyway, I'll stop. Wow, where is that coming from? OK. Anyway, um,
- 12:29Speaker 1: you can tell me off. So, so just bringing you to, um, the,
- 12:33Speaker 1: the airport right now, OK.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Imagine this, you are looking forward to a holiday and,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and you're, you've just put in so much effort to book,
- 12:41Speaker 1: not just the flights, but accommodation, you know, you've settled
- 12:44Speaker 1: all the transportation, you and your family, you're like ready
- 12:46Speaker 1: to go. OK.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And this, for this particular Singaporean family, they were at
- 12:51Speaker 1: the airport already and they were going through security checks
- 12:54Speaker 1: as per normal, right? What they did not realize was
- 12:58Speaker 1: that they didn't check their son's bag properly.
- 13:02Speaker 1: It turns out, uh, he actually had a toy gun
- 13:05Speaker 1: in the hand carry bag. I know, I know, that's
- 13:09Speaker 1: for sure. And, and before you say like, ah yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 1: toy gun only, I mean, yes, there are certain, they
- 13:14Speaker 1: look quite young. The kids look pretty young. So maybe
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's those, you know, like really water gun looking type
- 13:18Speaker 1: of toy guns, right?
- 13:20Speaker 1: But when you go through somewhere as important and as
- 13:24Speaker 1: um tight in security as the airport, these things 100%
- 13:28Speaker 1: will get flagged up.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I
- 13:29Speaker 2: actually learned this when I was very young because my
- 13:31Speaker 2: godparents were coming back from San Francisco. They, they bought
- 13:34Speaker 2: me this FBI or San Francisco Police Department, you know,
- 13:39Speaker 2: it's toys, handcuffs, pistols. It got confiscated. So
- 13:43Speaker 1: they took it
- 13:43Speaker 1: away even though it's in a box. Yes. Oh my gosh.
- 13:47Speaker 1: A similar thing happened to me. I'll tell you more
- 13:49Speaker 1: in just a bit, but unfortunately for this family, they
- 13:51Speaker 1: missed their original flights altogether because of the intensive checks
- 13:55Speaker 1: and of course, they have to write the report and
- 13:57Speaker 1: everything to explain what happened, right? So, um, they shared
- 14:00Speaker 1: this story because for, for this, for the parents, they said, hey,
- 14:03Speaker 1: you know what guys, this is a really good reminder
- 14:06Speaker 1: for parents out there. Please double-check your kids.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Uh, hand carry bags and luggages because you never know
- 14:12Speaker 1: what they accidentally brought on, right? OK,
- 14:14Speaker 2: so they shared it, hey, we are just advising you. Yeah,
- 14:17Speaker 1: they, they took, they took full responsibility for it. OK, good.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So they
- 14:20Speaker 2: weren't angry, saying, how can you cancel our flight, pay
- 14:23Speaker 2: more
- 14:23Speaker 2: money for
- 14:23Speaker 1: news. So actually the recounted the incident on Instagram, um,
- 14:27Speaker 1: saying that she hopes to help prevent other families from
- 14:30Speaker 1: having the same experience because they also had to top
- 14:32Speaker 1: up like
- 14:33Speaker 1: 2 $3000 to change the flight and all that. So
- 14:35Speaker 1: they took a full responsibility. They said this is such
- 14:39Speaker 1: a painful reminder to double-check everyone's bags before traveling.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I, I might say something that might polarize Singapore here,
- 14:47Speaker 2: but I feel given their graciousness to the whole situation,
- 14:50Speaker 2: this is the perfect marketing opportunity for an airline. Jump
- 14:54Speaker 2: on board, sponsor them a flight.
- 14:56Speaker 2: But tough.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Like cannot do that because you're sort of rewarding the
- 15:00Speaker 1: behavior that, you know, not that it was bad behavior,
- 15:03Speaker 1: it was unintentional.
- 15:04Speaker 2: It's more the graciousness, but yes, I know that means
- 15:06Speaker 2: people will say, oh, so now bring toys
- 15:09Speaker 1: exactly, exactly. No, I don't think it'll go that way,
- 15:11Speaker 1: but I'll, I'll give you my experience. So you know
- 15:14Speaker 1: how I always gonna check one, right?
- 15:15Speaker 1: Like when I, when I go anywhere, I always get stopped. And,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and I'm just like, OK, check my bag, you know,
- 15:24Speaker 1: nothing going on there. In like a few seconds he said,
- 15:27Speaker 1: please open your bag. I'm like, what did I, I
- 15:29Speaker 1: was like, what did I bring, right? So they opened it.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It was a hand carry bag. It was for a
- 15:34Speaker 1: very short trip only.
- 15:35Speaker 1: They said, Oh, your cosmetic bag, please, like the, the
- 15:38Speaker 1: toiletries bag. So I opened it and they said, What,
- 15:41Speaker 1: what is that? Then I said, what, what, what, what
- 15:43Speaker 1: was what? And they said, that silver item. So I
- 15:46Speaker 1: took it out and I, I almost faced Pal Jokim.
- 15:50Speaker 1: So just a few days before I went for this flight,
- 15:53Speaker 1: I went for a perfume making class, OK, and it
- 15:56Speaker 1: was part of an event.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Unfortunately, for this particular perfume brand, uh, the, the, the
- 16:02Speaker 1: mini perfumes that they were giving away were in the
- 16:05Speaker 1: shape of bullets. OK, OK, I was like, I, I
- 16:11Speaker 1: did not even realize that it was there because it
- 16:12Speaker 1: was such a small item and it's meant to, OK,
- 16:16Speaker 1: maybe this perfume company didn't quite think about it as well,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you know, I think it was just part of their campaign. Like,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I don't know what they can't remember some spy related things,
- 16:24Speaker 1: so that's why they customize it that way.
- 16:26Speaker 1: So, um, obviously it got confiscated, but I wasn't, I
- 16:28Speaker 1: was just relieved. I was like, OK, that's, take it,
- 16:31Speaker 1: take it, it's fine. I didn't realize it was there,
- 16:33Speaker 1: but they did laugh lah because they saw the engraving
- 16:35Speaker 1: and stuff of the name and the and the
- 16:37Speaker 1: brand.
- 16:37Speaker 2: So again, kudos to our friends over at the ICA
- 16:39Speaker 2: and for not taking any risks, even though it's a
- 16:43Speaker 2: toy or a
- 16:44Speaker 2: perfume.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Don't take any
- 16:45Speaker 1: chances.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Thank you for keeping Singapore safe. We really appreciate it.
- 16:48Speaker 2: We
- 16:48Speaker 1: feel safe in return, right? And we are just minutes
- 16:51Speaker 1: away from you potentially walking away with $5000.
- 16:55Speaker 2: That and also whether you get the guess right or wrong,
- 16:58Speaker 2: the moment you call us at 669-119-87, your name enters
- 17:02Speaker 2: the big grand draw happening very soon. I hear we
- 17:04Speaker 2: have over what, $45,000 worth of prizes to be won
- 17:10Speaker 2: from our friends over at Chan Brothers. I think holistic way,
- 17:13Speaker 2: they are on board as well.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so many things for you to win. So all
- 17:16Speaker 1: the details and full of prizes I'm sure will be
- 17:19Speaker 1: out very soon, but you got to wait for that
- 17:21Speaker 1: queue to call happening in less than 10 minutes.
- 17:24Speaker 1: 87 secret.
- 17:29Speaker 1: that.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Good morning once again. If you just joined us, $5000
- 17:35Speaker 1: could be yours officially if you can guess our secret sound.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Any moment now, boss Janice, any moment we need to
- 17:41Speaker 2: snowball the money. We
- 17:42Speaker 1: do. I think maybe by 10 or 2000
- 17:45Speaker 2: dollars. Maybe $6000 next week
- 17:47Speaker 1: we'll see. OK. Listen very carefully. Here's your secret sound
- 17:50Speaker 1: you have to identify.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And one more time just for you.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You know exactly what to do right now.
- 18:00Speaker 2: That
- 18:03Speaker 1: 87
- 18:03Speaker 2: Secret.
- 18:08Speaker 2: that
- 18:09Speaker 2: Good
- 18:10Speaker 1: morning, Soa and Joakim.
- 18:11Speaker 2: My name is
- 18:12Speaker 1: Alison. Hello.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Where are you off to this early in the morning?
- 18:17Speaker 2: I'm off to work
- 18:18Speaker 2: this morning. Alright. Alison, hopefully you're going to work $5000
- 18:23Speaker 2: richer courtesy of us here on 987. Are you ready
- 18:25Speaker 2: for Secret Sound?
- 18:26Speaker 1: I
- 18:27Speaker 1: hope so. I hope so too. Have you been listening
- 18:29Speaker 1: to all the answers on other shows?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yes, for the past one month.
- 18:34Speaker 1: OK, very good. Very good. Very good. I'm expecting quite
- 18:37Speaker 1: an original answer here today. Listen very carefully.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Allison, for $5000 what is the 987's secret sound?
- 18:47Speaker 2: I think it's the clicking of chopsticks.
- 18:51Speaker 1: The clicking of chopsticks is your final answer. Yes, I
- 18:54Speaker 1: hope so. Alright, let's find out.
- 18:58Speaker 2: You are
- 18:58Speaker 2: incorrect.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Your chance to play
- 19:01Speaker 1: 987's secret sound continues.
- 19:06Speaker 2: that sound.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Alison, I'm so sorry to report that this guest actually
- 19:11Speaker 2: has been set before picking of chopsticks, but it's OK, Edison.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You know what, at least you called through. You are
- 19:17Speaker 2: still qualified for our big grand draw happening very soon, OK?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Alright, see you there. Have a good day, Alison. Thank you.
- 19:26Speaker 1: One guess win big.
- 19:31Speaker 1: What's that sound?
- 19:32Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 19:34Speaker 1: next to.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 19:39Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 19:41Speaker 1: the show. Your chance at a $100 shopping experience thanks
- 19:45Speaker 1: to Ow Days, a leading eyewear brand, not just in Singapore,
- 19:49Speaker 1: but around the
- 19:50Speaker 1: world.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Want to speak about the uh HDBs here in Singapore, Sonia.
- 19:54Speaker 2: The upcoming one
- 19:55Speaker 1: coming up in just a bit. Singapore's number one hit
- 19:58Speaker 1: music station.
- 20:01Speaker 1: About to open up the phone lines with a rather
- 20:04Speaker 1: interesting question Joakim asked me this morning. Never really thought
- 20:07Speaker 1: about it, but I'll share.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I'll share my my bit of the story after yours.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I feel like I'm working
- 20:14Speaker 2: for MND right now, taking in customer and residents feedback.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Do it. Go ahead. OK, so by now you would
- 20:21Speaker 2: have heard about potential plans for new BTOs here in Singapore,
- 20:24Speaker 1: of course,
- 20:25Speaker 2: yeah. The one that's caught many people's eye, Pearls Hill.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yes, the Outram area near Chinatown also.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Apparently, I don't know whether they follow up with it,
- 20:36Speaker 2: but there's the artist impression already of a 60-story BTO.
- 20:42Speaker 1: That is high. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 1: wow.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I mean, given how small we are here in Singapore,
- 20:47Speaker 2: we either go higher or go underground, you know what
- 20:50Speaker 2: I mean? But people on social media and even on
- 20:54Speaker 2: some of the citizen journalism websites, right, they're saying things like, 0,
- 20:59Speaker 2: 60 stories BTO. I'm not gonna bid for that.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Because the lift waiting times, what if the lift breaks
- 21:07Speaker 2: down and I live in maybe the 45th floor, climb
- 21:11Speaker 2: must climb 45 flights of stairs, is it? Yeah. And
- 21:14Speaker 2: then this one guy said, oh yeah, and due to
- 21:17Speaker 2: weather as well, right, sometimes lightning strikes might feel personal.
- 21:22Speaker 1: What a funny comment. What a funny comment. The
- 21:26Speaker 2: weather gods
- 21:27Speaker 1: are flat they see you like, Hey, hey, this guy,
- 21:30Speaker 1: this guy
- 21:32Speaker 2: like.
- 21:33Speaker 2: And, and according to a survey, right, uh, apparently out
- 21:38Speaker 2: of 3,098 respondents, 31%, they would rather live from level, uh,
- 21:45Speaker 2: they would rather live in level one or level 1,
- 21:47Speaker 2: to level 10. 28% said 11 to 20, 14% said
- 21:52Speaker 2: 21 to 30.
- 21:54Speaker 2: 8% of them said 31 to 40 and only 19%
- 22:00Speaker 2: said 41 to 60.
- 22:02Speaker 1: OK, wait, so my question is, is it too late
- 22:03Speaker 1: for them to make changes? I mean, like maybe, you know, OK,
- 22:07Speaker 1: let's consider just going up to 40, for example. I
- 22:10Speaker 2: don't know whether construction started already, but maybe if it's
- 22:14Speaker 2: not too late.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Say, OK, maybe 60 is too high. Let's go to
- 22:17Speaker 2: 45
- 22:18Speaker 1: or 40. I'm guessing, you know, when you lay the foundation, I'm,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm guessing the foundation laid for a building that is
- 22:26Speaker 1: 5 versus 60 is gonna be very different.
- 22:29Speaker 2: So currently I believe the highest BTO flat pinnacle at Duxton,
- 22:36Speaker 2: it's 50.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, you're right.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Um, that's very high. Look, I've lived in my parents'
- 22:43Speaker 1: flat almost my whole life, right? Level 13. So that
- 22:47Speaker 1: to me is OK, it's significantly high, really, nice view,
- 22:50Speaker 1: you know, they've got a nice breeze coming through as well.
- 22:52Speaker 1: I personally, I, I live on the 7th floor, so that's,
- 22:56Speaker 1: that's also not too bad.
- 22:58Speaker 2: So are the lifts at the very fast, like Schindler's
- 23:01Speaker 1: lift? You mean my, my parents' place? I mean it's
- 23:03Speaker 1: the regular HDB lift la.
- 23:06Speaker 1: My, my lift is quite fast, I would say, but
- 23:09Speaker 1: that being said, I have been to friends' uh, places,
- 23:13Speaker 1: apartments where they lift pretty high, like 20-something or 30,
- 23:18Speaker 1: you know, that kind of, that kind of apartments. And
- 23:20Speaker 1: to be honest, sometimes the lift will take quite some time,
- 23:22Speaker 1: simply because of the number of floors, right, no matter
- 23:25Speaker 1: how fast it goes. My thought is always this, OK.
- 23:28Speaker 1: There was once I needed to really use the bathroom, right?
- 23:32Speaker 1: And the, the, the lift time taken to go from
- 23:36Speaker 1: level 1 to 30, for example, is like at least
- 23:39Speaker 1: a couple of minutes or maybe 12 minutes, I don't
- 23:41Speaker 1: know how long, I didn't count. But I was just wondering,
- 23:44Speaker 1: what if someone has an emergency, like, I don't know,
- 23:46Speaker 1: like you really need the toilet or you are not
- 23:49Speaker 1: well or something. What's going to happen? You're stuck in
- 23:52Speaker 1: the lift, no choice.
- 23:53Speaker 2: So I guess uh if this Pearls Hill 60-story BTO proceeds,
- 23:59Speaker 2: they need to take lift tips from our friends over
- 24:02Speaker 2: at Swiss Hotel or Capital Land because it goes very
- 24:04Speaker 2: fast.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I think the penthouse is like 2025 or 28. I'm
- 24:17Speaker 1: not sure what it is.
- 24:19Speaker 1: They actually have a private lift lobby for some of
- 24:22Speaker 1: them who live on those floors. So I'm guessing that
- 24:25Speaker 1: it will skip like quite a bulk of all our
- 24:28Speaker 1: normal plebeian floors, you know what I mean?
- 24:30Speaker 2: But for a BTO, if you're gonna put a lift,
- 24:33Speaker 1: yeah, I know
- 24:34Speaker 2: that's everybody wants a private lift as well, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 2: So 669-11987, come, we take your feedback, OK. Uh, what
- 24:43Speaker 2: is the ideal floor
- 24:44Speaker 1: that you would like to live in? Yes, yes, let
- 24:46Speaker 1: us know.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And in exchange, a $100 shopping experience to own days
- 24:51Speaker 1: could be yours. Um, speaking of, uh, which floor you
- 24:54Speaker 1: would live on, any preferred floors? I think for Joakim,
- 24:58Speaker 1: you said anything above 5 or 7, right? I
- 25:01Speaker 2: mean, look, I've been the second floor.
- 25:03Speaker 2: all my life.
- 25:05Speaker 1: So you said 7 or 10 would be ideal
- 25:07Speaker 1: for you,
- 25:07Speaker 2: right? 7 or 10 would be great, at least with
- 25:09Speaker 2: a good view of whatsoever, not someone else's house.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I mean, unfortunately because we are such a small country
- 25:16Speaker 1: and quite dense, right? Chances are
- 25:19Speaker 1: And you, you may find it difficult to find a
- 25:22Speaker 1: place with unblocked view, you know, you, you might see
- 25:25Speaker 1: someone else opposite, but we're heading to our messages first
- 25:28Speaker 1: to find out what's your ideal floor. Saying
- 25:30Speaker 2: good morning to username Vroom on WhatsApp. Hey Sojo, lift
- 25:35Speaker 2: lobbies with mirrors. It solves the waiting time issue. Self-appreciation
- 25:41Speaker 2: or secret admiration of others standing at the lobby, and
- 25:43Speaker 2: apparently it's a studied technique.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Really, there's an article on Google saying mirrors reduce the
- 25:48Speaker 2: average waiting time for elevators emotionally.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Oh, so you occupy yourself lah. Perhaps. OK,
- 25:54Speaker 2: OK. One more coming in from Caden. Morning, Sonia and Join.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Fun fact, I used to work at the concourse and
- 25:59Speaker 2: they have this double-decker lift that serves odd and even
- 26:04Speaker 2: floors only. Pretty useful for a sixty-story building. Yes,
- 26:08Speaker 1: agree. So it's something like what I mentioned earlier.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Where the lift in certain lift lobbies will skip some floors. OK,
- 26:15Speaker 1: fair enough. Yeah, so maybe they might have to do that.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Keep your calls and texts coming in over at 669-11987
- 26:21Speaker 2: or 90050987. What's the ideal floor you want to live
- 26:26Speaker 2: on when it comes to a BTO? Yeah,
- 26:28Speaker 1: or just like an apartment or anything, you know. Give
- 26:31Speaker 1: us a call right now 669-11987 in exchange, a lovely
- 26:35Speaker 1: shopping experience thanks to.
- 26:37Speaker 1: days could be yours, so get your calls in now.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Talking about what would the ideal floor be for you
- 26:42Speaker 1: to live on, especially if you had a choice. So
- 26:45Speaker 2: today's one inspired by the 60-story built to order flat
- 26:48Speaker 2: that could be coming up over at Pearl's Hill. Give
- 26:50Speaker 2: me one second.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Go ahead, go ahead. So I mean, look, 60 is,
- 26:55Speaker 1: is pretty high, I would say, right? And based off
- 26:57Speaker 1: um some of the surveys done so far, not a
- 27:01Speaker 1: high percentage of people are.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Willing to live between what the floors of 50 and 60,
- 27:06Speaker 2: right? Yeah, we got by the time the lift 60
- 27:12Speaker 2: HDB loan will be paid off.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Facts,
- 27:15Speaker 1: facts cheeky and plenty more hilarious messages coming through, but
- 27:20Speaker 1: we've got Hisham on the line right now. What about you, man? Honestly, I,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I've been in the middle floor most of my life,
- 27:25Speaker 1: but I think an interesting floor would actually be the
- 27:28Speaker 1: first floor. Why, why you, you actually get this, this
- 27:32Speaker 1: large open area and the town that I'm in, the
- 27:34Speaker 1: first floor tend to have a higher ceiling, which is
- 27:37Speaker 1: pretty nice, I would say that right? I never realized that.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it almost feels like you have your own.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Balcony or lawn outside. Sonia,
- 27:45Speaker 2: you're
- 27:45Speaker 2: the kind of person that cannot stay on the first floor.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I
- 27:47Speaker 1: cannot. I tell you why. Because roaches, right? Yeah, yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 1: insects and whatever roaches,
- 27:52Speaker 2: rodents, and maybe even stray cats might call your place
- 27:55Speaker 1: home. Yes, yes, and you know, that's true. Is it true? Yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 1: that's true. That's true. That's something to consider. Yeah, so
- 28:02Speaker 1: even now though I live on the 7th floor, I
- 28:04Speaker 1: still put the, you know, just buy on Shopee my
- 28:06Speaker 1: dad bought for me like basically, OK. It's like those
- 28:09Speaker 1: um foam stoppers at the bottom.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Of your door so that insects and unwanted guests won't
- 28:15Speaker 1: creep under your door and come in, you know, I'm
- 28:17Speaker 1: so paranoid I have to do it.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So, Hisam, can you please tell me more? What's the
- 28:22Speaker 2: middle floor like?
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and what, what constitutes the middle floor? What do
- 28:26Speaker 1: you mean by that? Um,
- 28:27Speaker 2: somewhere from maybe
- 28:29Speaker 1: 6
- 28:29Speaker 2: to
- 28:30Speaker 1: 9th
- 28:30Speaker 2: floor. Yeah.
- 28:32Speaker 1: So sometimes if you're all the way in the middle,
- 28:35Speaker 2: the downside is
- 28:36Speaker 1: sometimes you have to wait for the lift for people
- 28:38Speaker 1: way above you.
- 28:38Speaker 1: That the waiting time isn't too
- 28:40Speaker 2: long.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Even if
- 28:41Speaker 2: the
- 28:41Speaker 1: lift
- 28:41Speaker 2: is down, you can still take the stairs down.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Still not so bad. Yeah. And
- 28:44Speaker 2: what's your view?
- 28:46Speaker 2: It's not
- 28:46Speaker 1: amazing. It's not
- 28:47Speaker 2: too
- 28:47Speaker 1: high,
- 28:48Speaker 2: but at least I can still see some nature that,
- 28:50Speaker 2: you know, there's still something to look at.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah, the one that is outside our house.
- 28:55Speaker 2: One can only dream of. So, there you go. Thank
- 28:58Speaker 2: you
- 28:58Speaker 1: so much, Isham. Have a nice day.
- 29:02Speaker 2: You too.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Bye. I'm talking about the ideal floor you would love
- 29:05Speaker 1: to live on if you had a choice.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Or if you are about to get a new place
- 29:09Speaker 1: or BTO very soon. Uh, one more message that we're
- 29:12Speaker 1: going to read here first. One
- 29:13Speaker 2: coming in from Melissa, a little morbid here, inverted commas.
- 29:17Speaker 2: I live on the 3rd floor and I always wanted
- 29:20Speaker 2: to stay on high floors. In January, there was a
- 29:23Speaker 2: huge fire in the penthouse, 15th story, and we had
- 29:26Speaker 2: to evacuate using the stairs. I had never been more
- 29:29Speaker 2: thankful in my life for living on low levels, even
- 29:32Speaker 2: saw a family and a police officer trying to bring
- 29:34Speaker 2: an elderly.
- 29:35Speaker 2: wheelchair-bound lady down the stairs.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Oh
- 29:38Speaker 1: my God. You see that is, that is worrying. That one,
- 29:41Speaker 1: you know, it's a bit of a crisis moment. But
- 29:45Speaker 2: fires can break out at any level. Yeah, if, if someone,
- 29:49Speaker 2: for example, leaves a PMD charging overnight and this person
- 29:53Speaker 2: stays on the second floor, you know, could be trouble
- 29:55Speaker 2: as well.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know, I just hope that I think
- 29:58Speaker 1: and I have confidence and faith in our Singapore infrastructure
- 30:02Speaker 1: and you know.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Things that are here as well for the safety measures.
- 30:06Speaker 1: So hopefully, you also have helpful neighbors, neighbors. I think
- 30:09Speaker 1: that's very important. Yes,
- 30:10Speaker 2: your neighbors need to wake you up and bang the
- 30:12Speaker 2: pots and pans. I'm the one that's a light sleeper. Oh,
- 30:14Speaker 1: you'll be
- 30:15Speaker 1: the first one waking up, I think, yeah. OK, when
- 30:17Speaker 1: we come back, we've got Suha on the line and
- 30:19Speaker 1: more messages, don't go anywhere. What about what is the
- 30:22Speaker 1: ideal floor you would like to live on if you
- 30:24Speaker 1: could choose again?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Wow, we have a breakdown, Sonia, in terms of how
- 30:28Speaker 2: to install
- 30:29Speaker 1: of emotions. No,
- 30:30Speaker 2: no.
- 30:32Speaker 2: For the future 60-story Pearl's Hill BTO. Morning guys. If
- 30:36Speaker 2: I had a choice, I would choose to, I would
- 30:38Speaker 2: choose the last level because now I can be the nuisance.
- 30:42Speaker 2: But to solve the lift issue for Pearl's Hill, it
- 30:45Speaker 2: will require 12 lifts. 4 lifts will serve level 1
- 30:49Speaker 2: to 20, then 1 will serve 21 to 40.
- 30:52Speaker 2: And one will serve 41 to 60. At all times,
- 30:56Speaker 2: two from each will be at level one, while the
- 30:58Speaker 2: other two will be at the last level of which
- 31:00Speaker 2: it serves. And when one goes down, one will go
- 31:03Speaker 2: up to cover.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's, that's a good suggestion. And you know, some
- 31:07Speaker 1: places actually do that. Like I mentioned, they will skip
- 31:09Speaker 1: a bulk of the floors to get you up faster.
- 31:12Speaker 1: You need
- 31:12Speaker 2: to.
- 31:13Speaker 2: This to NMD right now,
- 31:14Speaker 1: right now. I'm very curious to know what their plans are,
- 31:17Speaker 1: but we'll see what else, uh, you know, is updated
- 31:20Speaker 1: as we go along. We've got a quick one here
- 31:22Speaker 1: by Sue Jaime. OK, what about you? What's your ideal floor? Uh,
- 31:26Speaker 2: I
- 31:26Speaker 1: will be at the lowest floor. Lowest floor. Why so? Yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 1: so that I can shout at my kids come home.
- 31:34Speaker 1: After all your messages and your calls, only one person
- 31:37Speaker 1: can walk away with their own day's shopping experience worth $100. Yeah,
- 31:42Speaker 2: and thank you so much for all your calls and texts,
- 31:44Speaker 2: sharing with us your opinions about which floor or which
- 31:49Speaker 2: level would you rather live in because of the 60-story
- 31:52Speaker 2: BTO over at Pearls Hill coming up very soon.
- 31:54Speaker 1: So if you could choose, you know, like what would
- 31:57Speaker 1: that be? I'm not entirely sure like when my parents
- 32:00Speaker 1: got
- 32:00Speaker 1: Um, the availability for their apartment, right, for their flats,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and it was number 13. I did ask before, number
- 32:07Speaker 1: 13 considered OK? They said, yeah, in Asian culture it's
- 32:10Speaker 1: not considered a bad number. So I'm like, oh, cool.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I mean, I know most people here in Singapore would
- 32:14Speaker 2: level 4
- 32:16Speaker 1: or 4 people at least
- 32:18Speaker 2: or maybe even 24.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Really? Anything with the number 4 in it. Hey,
- 32:23Speaker 2: by the way, the Disney adventure.
- 32:26Speaker 2: 40,
- 32:27Speaker 1: because it's gonna primarily be in Asia, so I think
- 32:30Speaker 1: they get it. Yeah, which I appreciate actually. It's cool. Anyway, uh,
- 32:34Speaker 1: we've got tons of messages and calls coming in today,
- 32:37Speaker 1: but only one person is winning. Today's
- 32:39Speaker 2: winner, let's give it to Hisham who called us earlier. Hello.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Congratulations. Here's what you're winning. This shopping experience is worth $100.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You're gonna enjoy some premium craftsmanship from our friends at
- 32:50Speaker 1: Ow Day.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Its premium made in Japan lenses with great looking frames
- 32:56Speaker 1: that are paired seamlessly for crystal clear clarity.
- 32:59Speaker 2: They have over 600 stores worldwide, with 40 of them
- 33:04Speaker 2: being here in Singapore across locations.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And you know
- 33:06Speaker 1: what I love about them? Because they are, I guess,
- 33:09Speaker 1: born and bred in Japan, right? They have precision engineered
- 33:13Speaker 1: Asian fit for our faces. Nice. Here's the thing, because
- 33:16Speaker 1: for our nose bridge, it's not going to be.
- 33:17Speaker 1: As high as some of our other friends from other
- 33:19Speaker 1: parts of the world who are blessed with very nice
- 33:21Speaker 1: nose bridge, but they, they, the way that they've done it,
- 33:25Speaker 1: the refined joints with the optimized nose bridge will create
- 33:28Speaker 1: that clean, minimalist silhouette that's very comfortable for Asian fit.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Actually, I think maybe it's time for me to get
- 33:34Speaker 2: new
- 33:34Speaker 2: frames.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I, I think so too, yeah, it's been a while,
- 33:36Speaker 2: right? Gotta check my vision.
- 33:38Speaker 1: If you think so, it's a bit blur sometimes.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Too much screen time.
- 33:42Speaker 1: See lah, see, I told you.
- 33:45Speaker 2: What do you tell me? Come,
- 33:47Speaker 1: I
- 33:47Speaker 1: think stop, stop scrolling at night in the dark before
- 33:49Speaker 1: you sleep. You do that, don't you? You know me
- 33:51Speaker 1: too well. I know. Wake up.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Good next.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 33:59Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Coming up
- 34:02Speaker 1: in just a bit, oh well, our friends from Carousel
- 34:04Speaker 1: Autos got you covered with yet another $100 shopping experience.
- 34:08Speaker 2: And a
- 34:09Speaker 2: new era for running here in Singapore,
- 34:12Speaker 1: Sonia. All the details coming up within the hour. Please
- 34:15Speaker 1: stay with us. First, it's Black Pink, Singapore's number one
- 34:17Speaker 1: hit
- 34:18Speaker 1: music station.
- 34:21Speaker 2: If you are a running fan here in Singapore or
- 34:23Speaker 2: you know someone who loves running.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Then more or less ever since news broke about this yesterday,
- 34:29Speaker 2: we've ushered in a new era of running here in Singapore, Sonia.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Absolutely, and this is very relevant for you actually. So
- 34:36Speaker 2: what
- 34:36Speaker 2: was affectionately known as the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, it's
- 34:39Speaker 2: now going through an entire revamp and guess who are
- 34:42Speaker 2: the new title sponsors? I already know our friends over
- 34:45Speaker 2: at BYD.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Amazing. So what is the official title gonna be like
- 34:50Speaker 1: once they take over?
- 34:51Speaker 2: You ready? Yeah, The BYD Singapore International Marathon presented by Adidas.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Ah yes, so there's more than one, you know, sponsor
- 35:00Speaker 1: at this point. So mark
- 35:01Speaker 2: these days down 4th, 5th, and 6th December. So 4th
- 35:05Speaker 2: on a Friday morning, it's gonna be the Kid Dash,
- 35:08Speaker 1: as always, my dash,
- 35:11Speaker 2: it's gonna be the 5 km and the Standard Chartered
- 35:15Speaker 2: 10 km. So Standard Charter are still the official bank.
- 35:19Speaker 2: They're the official band.
- 35:20Speaker 1: OK,
- 35:21Speaker 1: OK.
- 35:21Speaker 2: On Saturday morning, it's the Adidas half marathon.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Oh, so many things going on now, OK. And
- 35:27Speaker 2: then on Sunday, December 6th, it's the BYD full marathon,
- 35:31Speaker 2: but they are all operating under the umbrella of the
- 35:34Speaker 2: Singapore International Marathon.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Wow, to be a fly on the wall in those meetings.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Can you imagine how long they took to sort all
- 35:41Speaker 1: this out? So
- 35:41Speaker 2: I was
- 35:42Speaker 2: very fortunate to be at the press conference yesterday where
- 35:46Speaker 2: everyone in the
- 35:46Speaker 2: Running scene. They were there. I'm talking Sore Yong, Nicole.
- 35:50Speaker 2: We had Vanessa as well, and all sorts of other
- 35:53Speaker 2: runners who were there, and they're all excited for this
- 35:55Speaker 2: because I think it's an all local team doing this,
- 36:00Speaker 2: and in the local team, they're all runners, so I
- 36:02Speaker 2: think they know what Singaporeans want. OK, that's good. And
- 36:06Speaker 2: hopefully it all goes well for the first iteration again
- 36:08Speaker 2: happening December 4th, 5th, and 6th. But here's my question,
- 36:12Speaker 2: which had no answers yesterday.
- 36:15Speaker 1: you ask a question I
- 36:16Speaker 2: was asking around, but people like oh you know we'll
- 36:19Speaker 2: reveal more details soon.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I feel like I know what you're gonna ask. Will
- 36:23Speaker 1: the winner get a car, right? Yeah.
- 36:26Speaker 2: That means gets a car.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Nicole
- 36:28Speaker 2: or Vanessa gets a car
- 36:29Speaker 2: as well.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I think they should get more than one car at
- 36:31Speaker 1: this point. Coming up in less than 10 to 15 minutes,
- 36:37Speaker 1: we've got a $100 shopping voucher thanks to Carousel Autos
- 36:40Speaker 1: up for grabs in a very simple game that we've
- 36:43Speaker 1: been playing pretty much all week.
- 36:44Speaker 2: We call it Girl Math or Dilulu. If it makes
- 36:47Speaker 2: sense to you, you can say math. Yes,
- 36:49Speaker 1: math makes sense.
- 36:51Speaker 1: It does in
- 36:52Speaker 2: my
- 36:52Speaker 1: mind.
- 36:52Speaker 2: If it doesn't make sense, you can say Delulu. And
- 36:56Speaker 2: for today, we are focusing on these carousel Autofacts where
- 36:59Speaker 2: they give you variety, affordability, and support. Love that. Largest
- 37:04Speaker 2: selection of direct owner listings, short-term drive options are available,

- 37:18Speaker 1: Love that. OK, well, your chance to win happens in

- 37:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so call us 669-119-87. I will list you three
- 37:34Speaker 2: statements and you tell me whether it's girl math, where
- 37:37Speaker 2: it makes sense, or the Lulu.
- 37:40Speaker 1: As simple as that. OK, so we've already got 2
- 37:42Speaker 1: winners for the week. Um, this is day 3 for us,
- 37:45Speaker 1: so limited chances left for you to win. And we
- 37:48Speaker 1: just want to give a big shout out to our
- 37:49Speaker 1: friends at Carousel Autos for coming on board our show
- 37:52Speaker 1: because what they're doing is pretty fantastic, you know, um,
- 37:55Speaker 1: the fact that they're really making it so simple and
- 37:58Speaker 1: easy for you to get your used cars, motorcycles, um,
- 38:02Speaker 1: they're really Singapore's largest.
- 38:04Speaker 1: direct owner marketplace for used cars and motorcycles. Now,
- 38:08Speaker 2: don't forget, according to our friends over at Carousel, here's
- 38:11Speaker 2: a fact about them. Cars from as low as $28
- 38:16Speaker 2: per day. Woohoo.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I mean, they really focus on variety, affordability, and support.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So give us a call right now. 669-11987. Get three correct,
- 38:26Speaker 1: very simple questions, OK.
- 38:28Speaker 1: And you could be walking away with those bottles. Well, um,
- 38:31Speaker 1: this could be good news or bad news. You've got
- 38:33Speaker 1: a second shot at calling us right now, 669-11987. Unfortunately,
- 38:38Speaker 1: our caller, thank you, Celine, for your patience and for
- 38:40Speaker 1: calling through and you know, you had great luck with
- 38:42Speaker 1: the phone lines. Unfortunately, not so good luck with the questions.
- 38:47Speaker 1: She had one out of 3, right, I know.
- 38:49Speaker 2: We tried. Sorry, Celine, don't
- 38:51Speaker 2: scold us.
- 38:52Speaker 1: We, we did. But here's your chance again, 66.
- 38:55Speaker 1: 911-987. Call us right now for your $100 shopping experience
- 38:58Speaker 1: thanks to Carousel Auto. Hi, good morning,
- 39:01Speaker 2: Sojo.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Elfian here. Hello, Efian, how are you today? You sound
- 39:05Speaker 1: super cheerful, man.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I'm great, I'm great.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I mean, hey, if I'm winning a $100 shopping experience
- 39:10Speaker 2: a carousel, I'll be excited too. Yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a super simple one here today.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Are you ready for your three statements for Girl Math
- 39:18Speaker 1: or Delulu? Yes, I am. Let's go. Here we go.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Alright, Alfian, your first statement. Buying and selling a car
- 39:25Speaker 2: myself is difficult. Is that girl math or Delulu? Dilulu. Yup,
- 39:31Speaker 2: it is absolutely easy over on Carousel Autos. Your next statement,
- 39:36Speaker 2: cars are too expensive to own these days, according to
- 39:40Speaker 2: Carousel Autos. Is this girl math or Delulu?
- 39:44Speaker 2: Delulu Delulu is correct because on Carousel Autos from $28
- 39:48Speaker 2: a day, by
- 39:48Speaker 1: the way. Yeah, such a good selection of short term
- 39:50Speaker 1: drive cars that are affordable and can tide you over.
- 39:53Speaker 2: And your last statement, all car platforms show the same
- 39:58Speaker 2: vehicles anyway. Is this Girl Math or Delulu?
- 40:03Speaker 2: Delulu Delulu is correct.
- 40:05Speaker 1: That's it, just like that. Congratulations.
- 40:09Speaker 2: It's a hat trick of the Lulu's Sonia. I love it.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, well, hey, congratulations. You're walking away with a $100
- 40:16Speaker 1: shopping experience thanks to Carousel Autos. Now remember, they've got
- 40:20Speaker 1: the largest selection of direct owner listings and short-term drive
- 40:23Speaker 1: options are available. They've got variety, affordability, and support. Please
- 40:28Speaker 1: enjoy your shopping experience. And this was brought to you
- 40:30Speaker 1: by Carousel Autos, Singapore's largest direct owner marketplace for used
- 40:35Speaker 1: cars and motors.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Cycles. Thank you, Leigh Steinfeld and this LOVE right here
- 40:40Speaker 1: on 987. She's officially a mom, right? Am I, am
- 40:45Speaker 1: I right? She's
- 40:46Speaker 2: a mom.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Is she? Wait, I hold on. Let me verify this.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Hailey, in my mind, Hailey Steinfeld is like 15 or 16.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Let
- 40:59Speaker 1: me
- 40:59Speaker 2: actually googling.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I am, I am.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Oh my.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Please don't tell me that I'm wrong.
- 41:04Speaker 2: You could be wrong.
- 41:05Speaker 1: No, she's a, yeah. Pregnant sinner, pregnant sinner star Hailey
- 41:11Speaker 1: Steinfeld misses the Oscars because she's giving birth, if I'm
- 41:16Speaker 1: not wrong.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Not yet a mom but to become a mom.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I thought she gave birth. Wait, I'm searching her Instagram now.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on. Sorry, sorry, I'm so sorry. I'm
- 41:23Speaker 1: so sorry.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Valuable time here.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Come on. Oh no, she's not, she's not popped yet.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I think she's very heavily pregnant, very heavily pregnant.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I say, I have to check. I have to check.
- 41:35Speaker 1: But to answer your question, because we met her when, as,
- 41:38Speaker 1: as in I guess we knew of her when she
- 41:40Speaker 1: was still a teenager. She's 29 now, Jokim. I cannot
- 41:43Speaker 1: believe it. Time flew. There you go. Anyway,
- 41:46Speaker 2: on, on that topic about Haley's time flu, I'm just
- 41:48Speaker 2: very happy to share shamelessly here on, on, on 987
- 41:51Speaker 2: that uh as we were doing the show, I was
- 41:53Speaker 2: placing an order.
- 41:53Speaker 2: For The Sinners soundtrack.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Oh, I love that. Such a good film. Yeah,
- 41:58Speaker 2: yeah, and the soundtrack is amazing. I cannot wait to
- 42:01Speaker 2: hear it on good
- 42:01Speaker 2: speakers.
- 42:02Speaker 1: You know what they usually say, right? Sometimes when it
- 42:04Speaker 1: comes to movies, what also makes the movie what it is,
- 42:06Speaker 1: is the soundtrack. Yeah, like 20 Shades of
- 42:08Speaker 2: Grey. The soundtrack rescued the movie.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Actually, that was when I discovered, oh, The Weekend is great.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Love me like you do. OK, that's not the weekend
- 42:20Speaker 1: song but OK.
