- 1:09Speaker 3: and she approved.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Well, because for the listeners, Jason's got like a lovely
- 1:13Speaker 4: button up navy blue shirt, dark navy.
- 1:16Speaker 2: This isn't it, By the way, I'm just talking about.
- 1:19Speaker 1: What you've got on.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Now you've got the sleeves rolled up to your elbows,
- 1:21Speaker 4: and you've got genes of a similar color on but
- 1:24Speaker 4: in white skitches.
- 1:27Speaker 2: No, not sketches.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Slazengers existed.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I've worn these heaps of times.
- 1:33Speaker 1: No, totally like that with the white shoes. And then
- 1:36Speaker 1: you got your fault and then your new.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Glasses as well, which are kind of like translation translation,
- 1:43Speaker 4: you're right.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The description was that he looks like he's he's waking
- 1:46Speaker 1: for an agency of some creative agency. You know what
- 1:50Speaker 1: you look like, probably because I can't remember what he
- 1:52Speaker 1: looks like, your father in law, like that, the glasses
- 1:58Speaker 1: he's got, the shirt he's got. Is he not an architect?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Do not?
- 2:09Speaker 3: I would say it's a bit more wacky than me,
- 2:12Speaker 3: the red pants and the sort of yellow shirts, and.
- 2:15Speaker 1: More wacky than you.
- 2:17Speaker 4: So yeah, wow, I think, to be honest, what I
- 2:22Speaker 4: thought you were was like someone like if you're.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I love these descriptions. We give them each other.
- 2:29Speaker 4: It's like when you're at school and then your teachers
- 2:31Speaker 4: the way, but you get a cool relief teacher, right,
- 2:34Speaker 4: and you do that thing where you come and you
- 2:35Speaker 4: turn your seat backwards, you sit on it facing the
- 2:37Speaker 4: other way, you know, and then you go, hey, call
- 2:40Speaker 4: me Jace, don't call me mister Hoyt with me.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah, my cap on backwards. I have told you this
- 2:46Speaker 2: is a shot across your bow because I got my
- 2:48Speaker 2: head on backwards. Comel man this story before.
- 2:51Speaker 3: But when I was teacher training and I went out
- 2:53Speaker 3: to section, I had one girl in my class one
- 2:57Speaker 3: day say to me.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Why do you wear such weird pants?
- 3:01Speaker 3: They were like they were like linen pants, but they
- 3:04Speaker 3: had a kind of thread through them.
- 3:05Speaker 1: How old were they?
- 3:06Speaker 2: How old were they? The kids are standard tree Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 1: The pants.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Oh, the pants, I don't know, They're just some standard Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I guess you were an old man by that point.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They were.
- 3:23Speaker 2: For sure, even though it was only in the twenties.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 3:27Speaker 2: They yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And I was like, are my pants weird? She was
- 3:32Speaker 3: looking back, she was banging on.
- 3:34Speaker 2: She was totally right about twelve year old?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Eight year old?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Actually, that would be a good topic for us to
- 3:40Speaker 3: discuss on the radio show One Day Fashion Travel Travesties
- 3:45Speaker 3: of our Youth.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yes, I had some shocking shocking He's.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Just worn the same outfit that he's wearing right now
- 3:53Speaker 4: since he was four.
- 3:55Speaker 2: You're about right, apart from the purple was it docks.
- 3:59Speaker 1: The damn it? No, they went docs to Swede, persuade,
- 4:06Speaker 1: square square, toad love books, that's what they called them.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The ones that I tried to give to the homeless guy.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I wouldn't take the when I was living over in
- 4:15Speaker 1: Sydney when I went shopping stone to remember that's right.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And you spent a fortune on them as well. It
- 4:19Speaker 1: was too much money.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I had some Shockers. It's one particular outfit that
- 4:23Speaker 4: I'm thinking of right now, which I fucking cannot believe.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I Fleers. I wore a lot you know fleers in
- 4:28Speaker 1: the two thousands. You know, I never did the Fleas.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I did the Corrider or a year a bit young
- 4:34Speaker 1: for it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: And also yeah, and like going to social school socials
- 4:41Speaker 3: and you know, getting my dad to dad, I don't
- 4:44Speaker 3: have any cool thing to wear, and I ended up
- 4:46Speaker 3: wearing like gray slacks, a gray and white business shirt
- 4:49Speaker 3: and a maroon cotton.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Tie anders as well.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I was twelve.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I still remember going to my first ever school social
- 4:56Speaker 4: was in like ten or twelve, and I had a
- 4:59Speaker 4: Planet eight shirt on with flames on it, and I
- 5:03Speaker 4: jail and I spiked up my hair with gel.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And I was like, hey, hey, the whole Archy B show.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Wee days from four on Radio Hierarchy they Big Show podcast.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Hypothetically speaking, this is probably two thousand and one. Went
- 5:24Speaker 1: out to the local pub. I I was wearing a
- 5:25Speaker 1: cream I had no idea what a cream, not a turtleneck,
- 5:31Speaker 1: just to like a cream sweater of some description, probably
- 5:35Speaker 1: got some equivalent of Helen Stein's or some shit, I
- 5:38Speaker 1: don't know, probably too small. Anyway, I went to the
- 5:41Speaker 1: local pub and one thing led to another. And this
- 5:43Speaker 1: is when raves were really big, yes, and they'd have
- 5:46Speaker 1: them over and sitting here be like three thousand people,
- 5:48Speaker 1: five thousand. It's just ridiculous these things. And so ended
- 5:53Speaker 1: up saw a guy, had a word about some things,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and went along to this went went along to this rave,
- 5:59Speaker 1: dressed like an absolute gumby. But we were with this
- 6:05Speaker 1: guy from New Zealand. He was a multi feller huge.
- 6:07Speaker 1: When we got there, there's a line of about five
- 6:09Speaker 1: a q of about five hundred people. Wow. And just
- 6:12Speaker 1: before we got there, things sort of kicked in and
- 6:15Speaker 1: he just we just followed him. Pete was his name.
- 6:17Speaker 1: We just followed him and he just went straight to
- 6:19Speaker 1: the front of the line, stepped over the rope and
- 6:21Speaker 1: we all just followed him and we just went straight
- 6:23Speaker 1: up and we didn't paid or anything like that. It's
- 6:25Speaker 1: around about then that I blacked out. And when I
- 6:30Speaker 1: came to, and I don't know how much longer it was,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I was we were in the where the where the
- 6:34Speaker 1: fucking There's like three thousand people at this rave and
- 6:38Speaker 1: I'm standing on top of a tower thing. What's about that?
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's about it's like a round cylinder, like a part
- 6:46Speaker 1: like a you know the things that hold up the
- 6:48Speaker 1: Greek buildings, a column like a column. Yes, it was
- 6:51Speaker 1: one of those that fits a person on it. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: sort of come to how high three to five meters
- 7:00Speaker 1: pretty high? And uh and I come to and I'm like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: holy fuck, standing on top of it. I'm standing on
- 7:06Speaker 1: top of it, dancing. Man, I'm going hard, and I'm like, ship,
- 7:10Speaker 1: where's my mate that I went with? And I look
- 7:12Speaker 1: and way over on the other side of the there's
- 7:14Speaker 1: one other clock column in the whole place and he's
- 7:16Speaker 1: on it. What to night? What a night that was?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Butres like we went home alone. Put it that way.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, you've just reminded me there used to be there
- 7:29Speaker 3: used to be a nightclub in Auckland that had those
- 7:31Speaker 3: dancing columns, right, and.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I can't dance, I want to be very clear.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Five or six of them and people used to get
- 7:37Speaker 3: up onto those and I was quite fond of the
- 7:40Speaker 3: column back in the day.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Fucking terrible.
- 7:44Speaker 1: We didn't have columns dancing when I was.
- 7:46Speaker 3: And I think they had poles on them so you
- 7:48Speaker 3: could look cold hold onto.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it was good times. I'll tell you what do
- 7:53Speaker 1: you reckon?
- 7:54Speaker 4: Just back to what you were saying before. How when you,
- 7:56Speaker 4: like primary school kids think are twenty year old?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Is old? Do you think now?
- 8:01Speaker 4: Because I often think this if I go for a
- 8:03Speaker 4: beer with like the younger people here at radio, right,
- 8:06Speaker 4: do you think I stick out as old?
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yes, you do, but not to me because you're young,
- 8:12Speaker 1: But to them absolutely, because the guy in the thirties
- 8:14Speaker 1: mid thirties, yeah, and they're like twenty odd, it's fucking old, dude.
- 8:17Speaker 2: But he does have a backwards cat.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Oh look, there's no denying he's speaking to the ute.
- 8:22Speaker 1: But it is a funny thing as well, because now
- 8:26Speaker 1: we're much older, aren't we z Yeah, mate, I feel
- 8:29Speaker 1: like I'm your age at the oldest, yeah right, okay,
- 8:32Speaker 1: mid thirties Max, And I am fucking shocked that I'm
- 8:36Speaker 1: almost fifty because I am by all every definition old
- 8:41Speaker 1: and I do not feel like that at all.
- 8:43Speaker 4: My dad said the same thing. He's honestly, I feel
- 8:45Speaker 4: like I'm still exactly like you right now.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Crazy, and that's why I talk to people. And he
- 8:49Speaker 1: ended up being mates with like my brother in law,
- 8:52Speaker 1: he's fucking twenty five. Yeah, but you're all the same. Yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you had a certain age. Dudes especially are the same.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Yeah, like in two You know, mentally, I'm still very young.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's still very sharp.
- 9:04Speaker 2: But my body gives me.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Signs now of that I'm getting older because I I
- 9:10Speaker 3: think about how old I am all the time and go, fuck,
- 9:12Speaker 3: that's not right, that's not right.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I'm not that old. But then I'll get out off
- 9:19Speaker 2: the couch and be like, oh.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Fuck, it's a real it's a design fault, isn't It's
- 9:25Speaker 1: a design flow, and that your that your brain can
- 9:28Speaker 1: be so good and this is a noise A way
- 9:30Speaker 1: can go the other way as well, but that it
- 9:32Speaker 1: can be so good, and that your your body just
- 9:35Speaker 1: goes to shot and I'm still bring you are you
- 9:37Speaker 1: give me a new body? Exactly?
- 9:40Speaker 2: That's one of those movies where they kind of.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Do that, you know, body swap you into a younger,
- 9:45Speaker 3: young jacket.
- 9:47Speaker 2: What was that film I watched last night? Would Speed
- 9:51Speaker 2: or something?
- 9:52Speaker 1: What about it?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Very much? It was all about that. It was all
- 9:56Speaker 2: about you know, staying young forever.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Yeah, right, I'd be interested to get like a younger
- 10:02Speaker 4: member of hahdarchy to.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Be able to get work. And you know, if I
- 10:05Speaker 1: could just stay up a life for another thirty forty years,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you can do a bit of work.
- 10:08Speaker 4: But I'll be interested to get like one of the
- 10:10Speaker 4: younger staff members here. Yes, get them in and just
- 10:13Speaker 4: be like, so, how old am I?
- 10:15Speaker 1: Am? I quite old? Because I'm very interested by this.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But how will they measure that? I don't know?
- 10:19Speaker 4: Like so Pugs, for example, he hangs out with all
- 10:21Speaker 4: the twenty year olds, right, and I feel like, yeah,
- 10:25Speaker 4: what he does, But I feel like he kind of
- 10:27Speaker 4: blends in with them, right thirty Dilli's thirty as well,
- 10:31Speaker 4: and he hangs out with them too, and he blends
- 10:33Speaker 4: and I feel and I feel like I'm only a
- 10:35Speaker 4: few years older than those guys.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, But you're an old man.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And yeah you are. And you've got a mistake.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You've got natural old man tendency.
- 10:43Speaker 2: You do you really do you do?
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Right?
- 10:44Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I reckon.
- 10:46Speaker 3: When you're in your fifties and sixties, you're going to
- 10:48Speaker 3: be in your prime keysy.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I mean you'll be.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll be well, you'll be.
- 10:52Speaker 2: A unit, you'll be a unit.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But I'll be in my prime prime, bext man prime. Ye.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I actually like being an old man though. It's fun,
- 11:03Speaker 1: but it's it's it is what it is. Why would
- 11:04Speaker 1: you want to be anything else?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Do you?
- 11:07Speaker 1: I want to be old as fun.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I also noticed that Pagsan stole some chips from z
- 11:12Speaker 3: M and has kept them all to himself.
- 11:13Speaker 1: To them wasn't it was what is for later? But
- 11:18Speaker 1: I want them now. Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Hey, listen to The Big Show four to seven weekdays
- 11:22Speaker 4: Radio Hurdaki.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Good listen
