- 0:12Speaker 1: All right, Kratzy, here we go.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Players only edition again on foul territory. This is going
- 0:17Speaker 2: to be a regular. I got to fix my hat
- 0:18Speaker 2: because I don't want Doug Eddings to yell at me.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We're pals, so I don't want him to yell at
- 0:22Speaker 2: me for my hat being crooked or sideways or, you know,
- 0:25Speaker 2: as people say, I have a skull cap on, whatever.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I don't really care. It's a hat, people. So it's backwards.
- 0:30Speaker 2: But Kratzy, Scott's not here. You know why Scott isn't
- 0:33Speaker 2: here today? Because he knows I spent all weekend in Vegas.
- 0:36Speaker 2: So he was jealous. He wanted to go to Vegas
- 0:39Speaker 2: to see if he could outdo my club tab. I
- 0:42Speaker 2: saw his face.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I saw his face when you told him you were
- 0:47Speaker 3: in Vegas and all the things that you did.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And he went, I want to go. I want to
- 0:53Speaker 1: see a DJ.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I want to see DJs and party and have glow
- 0:58Speaker 2: sticks and all that fun stuff and smoke machines.
- 1:01Speaker 1: So, you know, anyways. It's all good. It's all good, Scott.
- 1:04Speaker 2: We'll see you sometime in the future if you survive.
- 1:06Speaker 2: You know, you're getting older. So, Scott, we'll see you soon.
- 1:09Speaker 2: But did you see this stat last night? I know
- 1:11Speaker 2: we're in the playoff push, Kratz. Are we worried about
- 1:14Speaker 2: the Cubs' bullpen? Jacob Webb's last three save chances.
- 1:18Speaker 1: This is incredible. Sorry, Jacob.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Two-run walk-off homer, two-run walk-off homer, two-run game-tying homer last night.
- 1:25Speaker 2: He's the only MLB pitcher to allow a game-tying or
- 1:28Speaker 2: go-ahead homer with two outs in the ninth and three
- 1:30Speaker 2: straight save opportunities.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Since saves became official in 1969.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I can't imagine somebody did it before 1969. So let's
- 1:38Speaker 2: also throw that out there. That's from Optus stats, right?
- 1:40Speaker 2: I mean, before 1969, I don't think someone did this
- 1:42Speaker 2: either because guys were throwing CGs mostly back then.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Are you worried about the Cubs bullpen? You're always worried
- 1:48Speaker 1: about the Cubs bullpen.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I mean, I think you're worried about any team's bullpen
- 1:53Speaker 3: that's not the Braves, Padres, and I'm trying to think
- 1:58Speaker 3: who the next best one is. I can't think of
- 2:00Speaker 3: it off the top of my head. Yeah, you're worried
- 2:02Speaker 3: about it. But honestly, like if you're the guy that
- 2:05Speaker 3: the team believes should be the closer and you don't,
- 2:08Speaker 3: for me, if I'm the manager, if I'm Craig Council,
- 2:10Speaker 3: and he doesn't show like some type of like, he
- 2:14Speaker 3: looks scared out there. like he looks like he doesn't
- 2:17Speaker 3: want to be out there type of moment, then I'm
- 2:19Speaker 3: going to try to keep running him out there. But
- 2:22Speaker 3: the last three outings maybe makes me want to think, eh,
- 2:26Speaker 3: maybe we'll try someone else.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But it's not that easy. The ninth inning is way different. Agreed, agreed.
- 2:32Speaker 1: The ninth inning is the hardest three outs.
- 2:34Speaker 2: And Craig Council's reaction about summed it up, I don't
- 2:36Speaker 2: know if anyone saw the video, he's in the dugout
- 2:38Speaker 2: and he's trying to hide and he has his hat
- 2:40Speaker 2: on and he just takes his hat off and he's like, Oh,
- 2:43Speaker 2: he literally wants to pull his hair out, and then
- 2:45Speaker 2: he just puts his hat back on and is like, okay, guys,
- 2:47Speaker 2: let's try to win this game in extra innings.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It was– Counts? It's incredible. It was incredible.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Counts has the biggest size that I've ever seen him–
- 2:57Speaker 3: if you never played with him or as a player
- 3:01Speaker 3: when he's managing, he will– And that was one of
- 3:07Speaker 3: them right there. It's like, dang it, I went to
- 3:09Speaker 3: that guy again. Well, I mean, unless he goes back
- 3:13Speaker 3: to Palencia.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 3:14Speaker 2: But on that note, Craig Council couldn't charge the mound,
- 3:17Speaker 2: but we can. He's back, as Manny Ramirez so famously
- 3:26Speaker 2: said when he went to L.A.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I'm back.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Well, Aaron Judge is back. Except for only, what, six innings?
- 3:32Speaker 2: He played six innings, I believe.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yesterday, last night.
- 3:34Speaker 2: 0 for 3.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You know, batted 3rd. Not a great night.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yankees won. They beat the Rockies 5-3. Cam Schlittler was great.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Aaron Judge wasn't happy, though, Kratzy. Aaron Judge was not
- 3:45Speaker 2: happy that he only played six innings. He said he
- 3:48Speaker 2: wanted to come back sooner. But here's what you have
- 3:50Speaker 2: to understand. If you're Aaron Judge, it's not about the
- 3:53Speaker 2: regular season, okay? It's about the postseason. He has to
- 3:56Speaker 2: be ready for the postseason, so they're going to build
- 3:58Speaker 2: him up to be ready for the postseason.
- 4:00Speaker 1: So, I mean, listen, could he come back sooner? Maybe.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Did he need a rehab? He says no, so we're
- 4:04Speaker 2: going to go with it. But he's got a month, basically,
- 4:06Speaker 2: to get ready for the postseason when the Yankees really
- 4:09Speaker 2: need him.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Him saying he wanted to come back sooner is the
- 4:12Speaker 3: biggest part of this. I don't know. I know the
- 4:15Speaker 3: training staff there. I know every one of those guys
- 4:18Speaker 3: is still the same guys as when I was there.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I know the strength coaches. They care deeply about every
- 4:25Speaker 3: single player. I can't say that about every training staff.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Some training staffs are like, well, you're not Aaron Judge,
- 4:31Speaker 3: so we're just going to kind of throw you a
- 4:34Speaker 3: bone and see if you stay healthy. No, they care deeply.
- 4:36Speaker 3: So They care deeply and understand what it takes to
- 4:39Speaker 3: have Aaron Judge in the lineup. A player always has
- 4:44Speaker 3: to say, I want to stay in the lineup. I
- 4:46Speaker 3: want to get in the lineup. It is the reason
- 4:48Speaker 3: that these people make the money that they do and
- 4:51Speaker 3: Aaron Boone makes the money that he does. They have
- 4:53Speaker 3: to be the ones to say, not yet or not
- 4:58Speaker 3: the whole game today. And he's going to be pissed
- 5:00Speaker 3: at them, but that's part of the reason they're in
- 5:02Speaker 3: the job they're in.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 5:05Speaker 2: There has to be adults in the room. And hey, Aaron,
- 5:07Speaker 2: we need you. I mean, basically the conversation I feel
- 5:09Speaker 2: like would go like this, right? Aaron, we need you
- 5:12Speaker 2: in September, dude. If you go back out there the
- 5:14Speaker 2: first game and you're not ready and you pull a
- 5:15Speaker 2: hamstring or you hurt a foot or you pull a
- 5:17Speaker 2: calf and you're not ready for October, then we haven't
- 5:20Speaker 2: done our job.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So I don't understand. And I get it.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I think, you know, his quote was, I feel great.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I played half a game. So I don't know what
- 5:27Speaker 2: to say about that. I respect Boone. So whatever he says,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I'm going to do. I'm not happy about it, but
- 5:31Speaker 2: that's where my Guy Ramos picked me up and hit
- 5:33Speaker 2: a nice little three-run homer to put the game out
- 5:35Speaker 2: of reach. Yeah, but, I mean, Aaron, we love you
- 5:38Speaker 2: to death. We'd love to have you on the show also.
- 5:41Speaker 2: But it's your first game back in, what, 99 days?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Wasn't it 99 days since you had played in a game?
- 5:47Speaker 1: And you didn't go on rehab.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So you've got to understand, in September, they're going to
- 5:52Speaker 2: treat this like spring training, and they're going to baby you.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And I can't say this, but I'm pretty sure they
- 5:57Speaker 2: probably had this conversation with him before the game started that, hey,
- 6:01Speaker 2: you're only going to play six innings, right?
- 6:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:04Speaker 2: It surprises me hearing Aaron Judge say this because he's
- 6:07Speaker 2: such a class act.
- 6:09Speaker 3: That is the part that's– because he gets a mic
- 6:11Speaker 3: put in his face every single day. One day, that
- 6:14Speaker 3: was my goal in spring training was just to watch
- 6:16Speaker 3: him go about his day besides on the field and
- 6:20Speaker 3: see how many people just bother him, see how many
- 6:23Speaker 3: people talk to him from trainers to– call-ups from minor
- 6:29Speaker 3: league camp. So he has a lot on his plate
- 6:31Speaker 3: and he is always has a mic in his face.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Even if he didn't play after the game the other night, uh,
- 6:37Speaker 3: was it Bill Fleming? What he said about jazz, you know,
- 6:40Speaker 3: they should fight this guy, all that stuff or Will Fleming.
- 6:43Speaker 3: And they, they said like, he's not even playing and
- 6:46Speaker 3: he's got a mic in his face. So for him
- 6:47Speaker 3: to say not so much the Aaron Boone part, like
- 6:51Speaker 3: to me, that's just a competitor wanting to play.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And then, you know, he builds up his teammates afterwards.
- 6:57Speaker 3: It's the part afterwards when he says, I wanted to
- 7:00Speaker 3: come back a couple months ago, but I'm not a trainer,
- 7:03Speaker 3: so I got to check whatever boxes they got. A
- 7:05Speaker 3: box they wanted me to check was live hitting, so
- 7:08Speaker 3: I said, perfect. We'll do that on an off day
- 7:11Speaker 3: so I can play. What are they going by? We
- 7:15Speaker 3: don't know. We don't even know what the actual injury was.
- 7:18Speaker 3: We assume it's some type of upper rib. For as
- 7:21Speaker 3: long as it was, was it a fracture? Was it
- 7:23Speaker 3: a displace?
- 7:25Speaker 4: No idea.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Whatever it was, what they saw made them say, this
- 7:30Speaker 3: is your timeline. We're not going out here before it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's their decision.
- 7:35Speaker 2: And Aaron Boone, give him credit. This is why Yankees
- 7:39Speaker 2: players love him. He's like, Aaron Judge wasn't happy with me.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I understand it. I get it.
- 7:44Speaker 4: And, yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I'll take it. I'll take it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: At least the manager was like, yeah, he wasn't happy.
- 7:49Speaker 2: He was pissed at me.
- 7:49Speaker 1: But you know what?
- 7:51Speaker 2: We're going to have him in October.
- 7:52Speaker 1: That's the plan.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And that's what they need him for. They need him
- 7:54Speaker 2: for the postseason. They're probably not going to catch the Rays.
- 7:57Speaker 2: The Rays are playing really well. They're probably not going
- 7:59Speaker 2: to catch them. So they need them ready when they
- 8:01Speaker 2: play the Red Sox in the wildcard round. They need
- 8:03Speaker 2: a Aaron Judge at that point. And that's what they're
- 8:05Speaker 2: shooting for.
- 8:08Speaker 5: Dehydration is real, people. So are quince electrolyte stick packs.
- 8:13Speaker 5: All of a sudden, you don't need some big bottle
- 8:15Speaker 5: to carry around. Just these little packets. If you suddenly
- 8:18Speaker 5: feel like you need a little hydration. Raspberry salt, delicious.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Citrus salt, my personal favorite. And watermelon salt for those
- 8:26Speaker 5: watermelon lovers out there.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Very solid. Just in your water bottle. I'm a watermelon guy.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's quick, easy in the morning. Wake up, feeling a
- 8:34Speaker 1: little down. Throw some in there. Feeling great.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Throw some in there because it'll keep that high going.
- 8:38Speaker 2: So stay on it. It hydrates you because of that
- 8:41Speaker 2: fermented rice.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Great tasting. And it makes you feel better.
- 8:45Speaker 5: They're made in the USA, rigorously third-party tested. Give your
- 8:49Speaker 5: body what it really needs to stay hydrated. Quince.com slash
- 8:52Speaker 5: foul gets you free shipping on your order and 365-day returns.
- 8:55Speaker 5: That's quince.com slash foul for free shipping and 365-day returns.

- 9:04Speaker 5: or prevent any disease.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Cam Schlittler, speaking of being an A guy, Cam Schlittler
- 9:09Speaker 2: might have solidified the AL Cy Young last night with
- 9:11Speaker 2: his outing. I mean, he shoved seven innings, three hits,
- 9:14Speaker 2: one run. 10 punchies. Yankees have their 34th consecutive winning season,
- 9:19Speaker 2: which is absolutely amazing. If you think about it, everyone's like, oh,
- 9:22Speaker 2: the Yankees were down for a while. So that's basically since, what, 1993?
- 9:28Speaker 1: They've had a winning season, which absolutely.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I mean, if you think about that, I didn't get
- 9:34Speaker 2: drafted until 1994, and everyone calls me Yonk. They haven't
- 9:37Speaker 2: had a losing season since before then. And then Cam
- 9:40Speaker 2: Schlittler right here, his last 10, 4-1, under a 2 ERA.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I mean, this guy, this guy's ridiculous.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I mean, if you obviously no start means more in
- 9:53Speaker 3: a Cy Young race early in the season, late in
- 9:56Speaker 3: the season. But voters are watching right now, Clearly, we
- 10:00Speaker 3: talked about it the other day, Dylan Cease and Cam
- 10:02Speaker 3: Schlitler are neck and neck. Some would say Dylan's been
- 10:06Speaker 3: a little bit more dominant. Some would say, no way,
- 10:10Speaker 3: Cam Schlitler's been the guy for sure. How can you
- 10:12Speaker 3: say not? Dylan had kind of a mid game, like
- 10:17Speaker 3: just mediocre game against a bad lineup. And then Cam
- 10:21Speaker 3: goes out the next night or two nights later, whatever
- 10:24Speaker 3: it was, the next start and absolutely shoves. All people
- 10:28Speaker 3: are going to see is that he had 10 punches.
- 10:30Speaker 3: He went seven innings. He had another one earned run
- 10:34Speaker 3: or less start. Nobody cares it was against the Rockies
- 10:38Speaker 3: because he did it the same week or the same
- 10:41Speaker 3: start that Dylan Cease did the same thing. I think
- 10:44Speaker 3: he solidified it. with this start last night.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Okay, by the way, did you see the Rockies?
- 10:50Speaker 2: Speaking of the Rockies, did you see their defense on
- 10:52Speaker 2: the one play when the Yankees scored their first? I
- 10:56Speaker 2: don't understand. So McCarthy kicks the ball.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Here it is.
- 10:58Speaker 2: McCarthy kicks the ball, right? He picks it up, but
- 11:02Speaker 2: he throws it home, and I don't know where Hunter
- 11:05Speaker 2: Goodman is. Hunter Goodman just watches the ball go right
- 11:07Speaker 2: past him. Did he think it was a timeout? And
- 11:11Speaker 2: McCarthy's like, WTF, bro?
- 11:14Speaker 1: That's my error. He just stood there. It was like
- 11:17Speaker 1: he froze. I blacked out. Oh, by the way, there
- 11:19Speaker 1: goes the ball right back. I don't know.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I've never seen this happen on a Little League field.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I mean, unless there's a kid out there picking daisies.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what happened. I've seen
- 11:30Speaker 1: it happen on the softball field. Sorry, Avery. I've seen
- 11:34Speaker 1: your team do it. Somebody's not watching.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I really think he thought it was going into the
- 11:38Speaker 3: shortstop and he just looked away. But it was funny
- 11:41Speaker 3: for me because he was just looking right here like
- 11:44Speaker 3: this and the ball's just rolling right by him. And
- 11:46Speaker 3: all of a sudden it was like, and then we
- 11:48Speaker 3: didn't see it. McCarthy, McCarthy got pissed afterwards. He's like,
- 11:54Speaker 3: what are you like?
- 11:55Speaker 4: What? What?
- 11:56Speaker 1: It's his air. There goes your gold glove.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 12:00Speaker 2: That's the thing for me. He's like, what the heck?
- 12:03Speaker 2: And he threw it to the right place, right? He
- 12:05Speaker 2: threw it kind of in the in-between land where there
- 12:08Speaker 2: should have been a first baseman, a shortstop, a catcher,
- 12:10Speaker 2: a pitcher, a third base coach. But that's why they
- 12:13Speaker 2: always say keep your eye on the ball, kids. Always
- 12:15Speaker 2: watch the ball. The ball will tell you what to do.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And in that case, somebody should have grabbed the ball
- 12:19Speaker 2: before another run scored. That was a wild way for
- 12:22Speaker 2: the Yankees to score some runs. I haven't really– I've
- 12:26Speaker 2: never seen anything like that. But it kind of sums
- 12:28Speaker 2: up the Rockies for about, what, the last six, seven,
- 12:31Speaker 2: eight years? I mean, that kind of is like, wow,
- 12:34Speaker 2: just whatever can go wrong goes wrong.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I mean, they've had some bright spots this year for sure,
- 12:41Speaker 3: but just in general. Since 2018, like, the Rockies don't
- 12:48Speaker 3: seem to put out a product that helps the players
- 12:52Speaker 3: that are doing really good. You got Hunter Goodman. Hunter Goodman,
- 12:55Speaker 3: if he's in a playoff chase– is getting MVP boats. Like,
- 12:59Speaker 3: what he's doing behind the dish is impressive. You have
- 13:02Speaker 3: guys that are having nice seasons. Moniak really readjusted his
- 13:06Speaker 3: career there. But it's one of those things that the
- 13:10Speaker 3: organization just isn't really worth the time that we've just
- 13:14Speaker 3: spent talking about it.
- 13:16Speaker 2: That's not nice. That's not nice. They're still big league players.
- 13:18Speaker 2: They have some good players on this team.
- 13:19Speaker 1: The players are. The players, for sure.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but Deepa Dusty, I mean, they have Paul Deepa Dusty.
- 13:25Speaker 2: He's in his first year. He loves FT, by the way.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He has a bunch of FT shirts. Thanks, Mark, for
- 13:29Speaker 2: spring training, letting me give him a couple at a
- 13:31Speaker 2: game one time. But, you know, his kids like FT.
- 13:35Speaker 2: They have shirts, too.
- 13:35Speaker 1: So, I don't know.
- 13:38Speaker 2: The Rockies are the Rockies. They're on pace to lose
- 13:40Speaker 2: 100 games again, possibly. It's been a long time. One
- 13:44Speaker 2: interesting note, though, Kratzer, here. Aaron Judge hit third between
- 13:47Speaker 2: Belly and Garcia. So is that where he's going to
- 13:50Speaker 2: hit the rest of the way, third? Because he's been
- 13:52Speaker 2: second for a long time. Is he going to be
- 13:54Speaker 2: now in the third spot? Or is that only because
- 13:56Speaker 2: of righty? I think it's because it's righty. If it's
- 14:00Speaker 2: a lefty, I think they move Belly to the leadoff spot.
- 14:04Speaker 2: But it's a matter of where you go with Ben Rice,
- 14:06Speaker 2: where you go with– yeah, it'll be interesting. But again–
- 14:12Speaker 2: He's rehabbed. I always thought it was so funny when
- 14:14Speaker 2: the good players would rehab against big leaguers. Like, I
- 14:18Speaker 2: remember Carlos Ruiz in his all-star year hurt himself, and
- 14:21Speaker 2: he came back and he was just like, eh, I'll
- 14:23Speaker 2: just play against this team.
- 14:24Speaker 3: I'm not going to go to the minor leagues. And
- 14:27Speaker 3: he just rehabbed against the Nationals. Like, it was like,
- 14:31Speaker 3: obviously I was never that good. Obviously I was never
- 14:34Speaker 3: hurt to have to go into rehab, but I also
- 14:37Speaker 3: never played. So for those guys to be able to
- 14:39Speaker 3: do that is so impressive.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I went on two rehabs. Both were three days, I think.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I know my first one was three days. It was
- 14:49Speaker 2: in Charlotte.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Did you need it? I had a broken wrist. I
- 14:53Speaker 1: was playing with a broken wrist. Did I need it? Yes.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I asked not to go on one. I was out
- 14:57Speaker 2: for 15 days. I said, hey, I don't think I
- 15:01Speaker 2: need a rehab. Put me back in the lineup. They said, ah,
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'm playing in two weeks. Go down to Charlotte. Catch, DH, catch. again,
- 15:09Speaker 2: I was playing with a broken wrist. I got through it,
- 15:11Speaker 2: came back. And then my, and then my other one was,
- 15:14Speaker 2: I tore my oblique and I went to Frisco, which
- 15:17Speaker 2: was great. Cause I was with the Rangers and it
- 15:20Speaker 2: was closer.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I lived in Dallas.
- 15:21Speaker 2: It was closer for me to go in Frisco, play
- 15:23Speaker 2: double a games. And it was drive to Arlington.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I was like, this is awesome. Right.
- 15:28Speaker 2: So I, I mean, I drove up, played, I think
- 15:30Speaker 2: three games too. I might only play two games and
- 15:32Speaker 2: came back. So I think I DH and caught one
- 15:34Speaker 2: game and pop back.
- 15:35Speaker 1: So, uh, I don't know.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Some guys think rehab's overrated. Some guys need it. You
- 15:40Speaker 2: know what? It depends on your status as a player, honestly.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Aaron Judge, if he says no rehab, he doesn't go
- 15:48Speaker 2: on rehab. But one cool thing about this game also,
- 15:51Speaker 2: Spencer Jones. Thanks for representing Spencer Jones. Show off a
- 15:54Speaker 2: little bit of foul territory.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 2: George Lombard with a Spencer Jones shirt, but Spencer Jones
- 16:00Speaker 2: with the Ben Arose shirt, which is the foulterritorieshop.com. And
- 16:05Speaker 2: by the way, if you're on Twitter and you're saying
- 16:07Speaker 2: it's yours, go kick rocks because that is a foulterritoryshop.com.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Sarah kicked ass with that shirt, and she's kicking ass
- 16:14Speaker 2: with the shirt I have on, the Murakami shirt. You
- 16:16Speaker 2: have a Junior Caminero shirt on. These are legit shirts.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Quit trying to bootleg us because we will find you,
- 16:22Speaker 2: and we will come after you. So it's a bad idea,
- 16:25Speaker 2: and I hope things work.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Don't bootleg us. We've talked about it. I'll find you.
- 16:30Speaker 1: He will.
- 16:31Speaker 3: He doesn't do a whole lot. He'll find you. He'll
- 16:34Speaker 3: take a flight somewhere. He'll do the show remote while
- 16:36Speaker 3: he's finding you.
- 16:38Speaker 1: True, true.
- 16:39Speaker 2: So wear what the pros wear, especially Spencer Jones. FoulTerritoryShop.com.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Have really cool shirts, new designs. Find your favorite player,
- 16:47Speaker 2: whatever you want. We got it there on FoulTerritoryShop.com.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Kratz football season is back, and Fabletics knows all about it.
- 16:55Speaker 5: They just paired with the number one wide receiver in
- 16:58Speaker 5: the NFL, Jamar Chase, on a new collection.
- 17:02Speaker 3: He's going to catch some footballs. You're going to catch
- 17:04Speaker 3: some deals when you go to Fabletics because this is
- 17:07Speaker 3: all affordable stuff, but the quality is through the roof. Comfortability,
- 17:12Speaker 3: like it is ridiculous.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it's about feeling good all day. And you need
- 17:17Speaker 5: to feel more comfortable in your athletic clothing since you're
- 17:20Speaker 5: wearing it all day. It's not just at the gym anymore.

- 17:39Speaker 5: prompted to unlock this offer this is a limited time
- 17:42Speaker 5: offer so do not wait again that's fabletics.com slash f-o-u-l
- 17:47Speaker 5: for 70 to 80 off everything as a new vip.
- 18:00Speaker 2: All right, better than box scores. There's some big stuff
- 18:04Speaker 2: we need to talk about.
- 18:05Speaker 1: The Nationals.
- 18:05Speaker 2: We already hit on the poor Cubs, and they're Jacob Webb,
- 18:08Speaker 2: so we don't want to pile on him, but the Nationals, they.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Made history last night.
- 18:13Speaker 2: 38 blown saves, 38 coming off an eighth-inning single up
- 18:18Speaker 2: the middle from a blonde, Manny Machado, by the way. And, gosh,
- 18:22Speaker 2: when we talk to people in the Nationals, talk to
- 18:26Speaker 2: Kevin Franzen, they just say this bullpen has not been good,
- 18:29Speaker 2: and that would be the understatement If they win half
- 18:32Speaker 2: these games, Kratzy, with their offense, they're like in this race.
- 18:36Speaker 1: They're in the divisional race, right? So how does this happen?
- 18:39Speaker 2: And listen, as a player and as former catchers on
- 18:42Speaker 2: the show, nothing hurt a team more than when your closer,
- 18:46Speaker 2: you have a one or two run lead and your
- 18:47Speaker 2: closer comes in and blows that game. I mean, it's like, man,
- 18:51Speaker 2: 24 of us, 25 of us worked our asses off
- 18:53Speaker 2: to get us to this point. And the closer feels
- 18:55Speaker 2: this way. That's why closing is so hard is because
- 18:58Speaker 2: the closer feels that pressure too. But I can't explain
- 19:01Speaker 2: to people how much of a letdown this is when
- 19:03Speaker 2: this happens, especially 38 times.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I mean, it's not for everybody who doesn't know. The
- 19:09Speaker 3: save stat is not just the ninth inning. It's happened
- 19:12Speaker 3: any time you have a lead and you blow the lead.
- 19:14Speaker 3: It's considered a blown save. You can even do that
- 19:17Speaker 3: seventh inning. Seventh, eighth, or ninth inning. But the fact
- 19:21Speaker 3: that that's how they've done it, the fact that the
- 19:23Speaker 3: lineup has been as good as it's been, they were.
- 19:28Speaker 1: The best offense in baseball. They're still top five, I
- 19:31Speaker 1: know that.
- 19:32Speaker 3: But it shows they kind of wore down as the
- 19:36Speaker 3: season went on here. Everybody gets worn down. If you
- 19:39Speaker 3: score runs and then your bullpen gives it up, you're like, okay,
- 19:42Speaker 3: we're going to go out there and get more. It
- 19:44Speaker 3: wears you down eventually to the point of, I wonder
- 19:48Speaker 3: how we're going to give this one up. And it's
- 19:50Speaker 3: not that they don't trust their teammates. It's not anything
- 19:54Speaker 3: like that. It's just walk, hit by pitch, double, one
- 19:59Speaker 3: run game, walk, sack fly, tie ball game. Like it's, it's,
- 20:05Speaker 3: It's a tough way to navigate 162 games. You can
- 20:09Speaker 3: figure it out for a series, and that's why I
- 20:11Speaker 3: think the Nats can be tough to play because they're
- 20:15Speaker 3: going to come in and beat your best pitching. The
- 20:17Speaker 3: issue is the ninth inning. I remember they gave up
- 20:21Speaker 3: back-to-back games against the Phillies, like seven runs, four runs
- 20:26Speaker 3: that they were leading by, and they ended up losing.
- 20:30Speaker 3: That's just how– like this game last night, Blondes do
- 20:34Speaker 3: have more fun, and Manny Machado was having a great time,
- 20:37Speaker 3: but it just seems like something's going to happen. I
- 20:41Speaker 3: was listening to the Padres' broadcast of this game, and
- 20:45Speaker 3: they said, well, you know what? I know the Padres
- 20:48Speaker 3: are in a great spot here, but we'll see if
- 20:51Speaker 3: they can break the record for most blown saves tonight.
- 20:54Speaker 3: And it was like almost to the point where maybe
- 20:57Speaker 3: that's how they think as a team. Not totally, but
- 21:00Speaker 3: it was a ground ball by Manny Machado that– like
- 21:03Speaker 3: just i mean essentially just whiffed it with his glove
- 21:06Speaker 3: and ended up being a base hit but game over
- 21:10Speaker 3: by the way keep this sarah langs this is one
- 21:12Speaker 3: of the best the wheeze i love the sarah langs
- 21:14Speaker 3: wheeze i mean their win probability was in the high
- 21:18Speaker 3: 90s and by the way not only did the padres
- 21:21Speaker 3: not only do the padres win this they also got
- 21:23Speaker 3: my over with those runs so like i've always said
- 21:26Speaker 3: The starter for the Nationals can go eight shutout, and
- 21:28Speaker 3: the over-under can be nine, and they can figure out.
- 21:30Speaker 1: A way to give up nine in the ninth. But
- 21:31Speaker 1: they didn't have a starter yesterday.
- 21:33Speaker 4: It doesn't matter.
- 21:34Speaker 1: They didn't have a starter yesterday. It doesn't matter. It
- 21:36Speaker 1: doesn't matter. That's what's tough. It sets them up poorly
- 21:40Speaker 1: for today. I get it.
- 21:42Speaker 3: We're not going to get into an opener, you know,
- 21:44Speaker 3: all that debate here. But this is why– this is
- 21:48Speaker 3: one of the reasons that this bullpen has struggled.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It's not like, oh, they're all just terrible.
- 21:53Speaker 3: They're not all terrible. They're not all terrible. But when
- 21:55Speaker 3: you're miscast in the bullpen because the rest of the
- 21:59Speaker 3: pitching roster doesn't necessarily, outside of Foster Griffin, doesn't necessarily
- 22:04Speaker 3: give you a lot of innings. Now, Cade Cavalli, I think,
- 22:07Speaker 3: is a definite piece that they can build on and
- 22:10Speaker 3: lean on for the next few years. But it's tough.
- 22:14Speaker 1: It's tough.
- 22:15Speaker 3: And they didn't put anything into, besides Foster Griffin, who's
- 22:19Speaker 3: now gone, they didn't put anything into that rotation to
- 22:23Speaker 3: start the year.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And, by the way, this game is more about the Padres. Also,
- 22:27Speaker 2: the Nats are out of it. But a couple things
- 22:29Speaker 2: on this. Padres admitted they scoreboard watched their half game,
- 22:33Speaker 2: one game back in the loss column, which you can
- 22:35Speaker 2: never make up. Always look at the loss column, people.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And then also Casey Mize, five innings, pitched okay, not great.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Three earned runs, seven Ks, one walk.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But here, A.J.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Cassaville, an immense win given the state of the wild
- 22:45Speaker 2: card race. The Padres trailed by three in the eighth,
- 22:47Speaker 2: rallied for four. Adrian Morihone nailed it down. San Diego
- 22:50Speaker 2: and Arizona still tied in the loss column.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Arizona half a game up in the race for the
- 22:55Speaker 1: last wild card.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Sorry, they're tied. I thought they were one back in
- 22:57Speaker 2: the loss. They're tied in the loss column, which is
- 22:59Speaker 2: all that matters. They're basically tied because the Padres can
- 23:02Speaker 2: make up that game. You can't make up losses. You
- 23:04Speaker 2: can make up the wins. And then Alden Gonzalez, D-backs
- 23:07Speaker 2: and Padres have been separated by a half game every
- 23:09Speaker 2: single day this month, which is insane. D-backs got Corbin
- 23:12Speaker 2: Burns back yesterday, was that get Zach Gallin and Michael
- 23:15Speaker 2: Soroka back today. Padres got Nick Pavetta back on Monday.
- 23:19Speaker 2: They'll finish the regular season today. In San Diego. By
- 23:21Speaker 2: the way, we didn't even mention this, but Corbin Burns
- 23:23Speaker 2: looked pretty good last night. So welcome back for being
- 23:26Speaker 2: out for, what, 15 months, whatever it was. But Manny
- 23:31Speaker 2: Machado said they scoreboard watch. Everyone scoreboard watches. It's just
- 23:34Speaker 2: nice when people admit it. And also, you know, listen,
- 23:38Speaker 2: they're watching. They have to watch it because you can't
- 23:40Speaker 2: control it if you're not playing the team. And the
- 23:42Speaker 2: last weekend of the season, Padres Diamondbacks is going to
- 23:46Speaker 2: be must-watch TV to see probably who gets that third
- 23:49Speaker 2: wildcard spot.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Everybody watches. What you can't do is chase the scoreboard.
- 23:55Speaker 3: You can't have that feeling of, oh man, like we're losing.
- 24:00Speaker 3: We saw Dimebacks already won. Especially when you're on the
- 24:03Speaker 3: West Coast, those games end sooner. The other games end sooner.
- 24:07Speaker 3: And so you're able to see what happens. You can't take, okay,
- 24:11Speaker 3: they lost. All right, now we have to win this game.
- 24:13Speaker 3: You've got to play the game in front of you.
- 24:16Speaker 3: But everybody's scoreboard watches.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Everybody.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I scoreboard watched in spring training. I scoreboard watched
- 24:23Speaker 2: in spring training. I'm not even going to lie. I
- 24:24Speaker 2: didn't even care. I just wanted to– I didn't want
- 24:27Speaker 2: the teams in the division to be any good. I
- 24:28Speaker 2: want them all to suck. So I was like, oh,
- 24:30Speaker 2: they suck in spring training. It doesn't matter, but it
- 24:32Speaker 2: kind of matters. I wanted to win the Cactus League
- 24:35Speaker 2: or the Great Free League.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It's cool. You know, you don't get anything for it.
- 24:38Speaker 1: But I was Cactus League champion. I was Cactus League
- 24:41Speaker 1: champion one year. I don't even know if I was.
- 24:43Speaker 2: But it's still cool.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Sanyo TV's.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Did they that that was such a lie they were
- 24:49Speaker 2: like that was such a lie everyone gets a tv
- 24:52Speaker 2: yeah no you don't so anyways all right anyways for
- 24:55Speaker 2: more on the padres check out dirt from the dugout
- 24:57Speaker 2: carl ravage justin musil welcome padre starter michael king part
- 25:01Speaker 2: one is out now part two drops right after this
- 25:04Speaker 2: show there's my boy adam wainwright on there too my
- 25:06Speaker 2: partner with fox sports fox one so check it out
- 25:10Speaker 2: dirt from the dugout great show uh let's go to
- 25:12Speaker 2: the let's go to the brewers and the cubs while
- 25:14Speaker 2: we have a minute here uh The Brewers stunned the Cubs.
- 25:17Speaker 2: We already talked about this, Jacob. Well, we don't need
- 25:19Speaker 2: to keep rehashing it. But, oh, bad loss for the Cubs.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I mean, you know, they keep trying to get back
- 25:28Speaker 2: into it. Now we're at the point where they're not
- 25:29Speaker 2: in it. If they lose today, this race is over
- 25:31Speaker 2: like we already mentioned.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Good gosh.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I don't even know where to go. There's the look, right?
- 25:37Speaker 2: That's the look we're talking about. Craig Council's just like, oh,
- 25:40Speaker 2: not another one. They lose a game in extra innings.
- 25:44Speaker 2: 40th come from behind win for the Brewers this season.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Miz pitched well at home, six and a third, nine punches,
- 25:49Speaker 2: 104.5 fastball. I will give the Cubs credit for this
- 25:53Speaker 2: against Mizorowski. Even though they did strike out nine times,
- 25:56Speaker 2: they do put good at bats against them. I think
- 25:58Speaker 2: they've seen them a lot now, so they kind of
- 26:01Speaker 2: have an idea. And I noticed a lot of the
- 26:03Speaker 2: hits they got were on the sliders. Like I know
- 26:05Speaker 2: PCA put a slider. It's almost like they're like, all right,
- 26:08Speaker 2: we know we can't hit the heater. Let's try and
- 26:10Speaker 2: foul that one off, and then we get a slider
- 26:12Speaker 2: for a mistake. That's the one we have to hit.
- 26:15Speaker 3: That's exactly what I saw because PCA's hit, which is
- 26:19Speaker 3: his first hit in 14 at-bats against the Miz, I
- 26:22Speaker 3: think struck out like 10 times. Shows you how good
- 26:25Speaker 3: the Miz is. But it was a slider out of
- 26:28Speaker 3: the zone to a guy that doesn't chase. It shows
- 26:31Speaker 3: to me they're just like, hey, you throw a fastball,
- 26:34Speaker 3: we're cooked. So he's going to have to, yes, still
- 26:37Speaker 3: throw a slider for strikes, but he's going to have
- 26:39Speaker 3: to make them chase if he's They feel like he's
- 26:42Speaker 3: sitting on breaking balls. But the home run that tied
- 26:45Speaker 3: it up was crazy. It should have been a 1-1
- 26:49Speaker 3: game because the Brewers blew through all of their challenges.
- 26:55Speaker 3: And then McGill came in, threw a curveball that was
- 26:58Speaker 3: going to be strike three, top of the zone, balled it.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Contreras went to his helmet and they had no more challenges.
- 27:07Speaker 3: So the Brewers aren't very good at that going into
- 27:10Speaker 3: the playoffs. We'll see if that comes into play at all.
- 27:13Speaker 3: But Jack Jack's home run, Jackson Churio to tie that
- 27:17Speaker 3: up with two outs at home against the Cubs. I've
- 27:20Speaker 3: seen this rivalry and Cubs fans believe that they take
- 27:24Speaker 3: over Milwaukee and you can hear it when the Cubs score.
- 27:28Speaker 3: You can hear that there are so many Cubs fans.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I think Milwaukee's kind of taken over a little bit
- 27:32Speaker 3: of Wrigley Field, too, when they go down there. I
- 27:35Speaker 3: hope they meet in the playoffs. I don't know how
- 27:37Speaker 3: the bracket's going to work based on the fact that
- 27:39Speaker 3: the Phillies are ahead of the Cubs right now. I
- 27:41Speaker 3: don't know how it's going to work, but I want
- 27:43Speaker 3: these two teams to play again.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean, it would just break down to
- 27:52Speaker 2: whoever the one and two, it all depends on who
- 27:54Speaker 2: the one and two. But right now, the Phillies and
- 27:55Speaker 2: Cubs are going to play each other in the wild card.
- 27:58Speaker 2: As long as the Brewers get the best record, then
- 28:00Speaker 2: they would play the Brewers next because it's a straight bracket.
- 28:04Speaker 2: The winner of that series would play Milwaukee, and then
- 28:06Speaker 2: the Dodgers would get the winner of the Braves, whoever
- 28:09Speaker 2: the third wild card is. So, by the way, we
- 28:10Speaker 2: have another Sarah Langs. This is a great one, too.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Another we from Sarah Langs. I mean, that one's close to–
- 28:16Speaker 2: that one's even higher. That one's like almost 100%.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Of a win.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And then we have a we where the Brewers win
- 28:21Speaker 2: it at the end. So, we love these we's. They're
- 28:25Speaker 2: so fun. Sarah Langs, keep it up, please. We love
- 28:27Speaker 2: you also. And then last but not least on this game,
- 28:30Speaker 2: Pat Murphy had a conversation with Lara right before he
- 28:33Speaker 2: got the game-winning hit. Has Pat Murphy ever had a
- 28:35Speaker 2: conversation with you, Kratzy, about something like this? And what
- 28:38Speaker 2: do you think Pat Murphy says to Lara?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Hey, go up there. We really need you to get
- 28:43Speaker 1: a hit.
- 28:43Speaker 2: If you don't get a hit, I'm going to make
- 28:45Speaker 2: fun of you on the post-game show and call you
- 28:47Speaker 2: by the wrong name. What does Murph say to the
- 28:49Speaker 2: guy to get him excited for this at-bat?
- 28:52Speaker 3: I'm sure Murph knows the situation in the sense of
- 28:55Speaker 3: what does Lara need since he's 12 years old. Being
- 29:00Speaker 3: a young guy, I don't know how much he's going
- 29:02Speaker 3: to give him the Murph treatment because if Murph ever
- 29:05Speaker 3: has a pump-up speech for me, he'll be like, you
- 29:10Speaker 3: do realize that you're just not that great of a hitter,
- 29:13Speaker 3: but we need you to come through in this situation.
- 29:17Speaker 3: So he's always used that sarcasm with me. He would
- 29:21Speaker 3: call me ish, and he would make some kind of
- 29:24Speaker 3: joke about me going to Eastern Mennonite University in any situation.
- 29:28Speaker 3: And I think sometimes with certain guys, obviously don't know
- 29:31Speaker 3: what he said through the translator, but you see the
- 29:34Speaker 3: big smile on Murph's face. It's one of those things. Oh,
- 29:37Speaker 3: I guess here's here's the tweet from Hunter he said
- 29:40Speaker 3: he asked me if I was ready and I told
- 29:42Speaker 3: him yes he told me he had confidence in me
- 29:45Speaker 3: and what he's always told me I appreciate I appreciate
- 29:49Speaker 3: him a lot I think he probably said something sarcastic
- 29:53Speaker 3: to make him feel like you know what it's just
- 29:56Speaker 3: any other moment because if you sit there and you go.
- 29:59Speaker 4: All right, Louie.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You got it, Louie. Come on. Come on. You got this.
- 30:03Speaker 1: You got this.
- 30:04Speaker 3: And he's never been that rah-rah guy. Then Laura's already nervous.
- 30:08Speaker 1: He's like, oh, okay, okay.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It must be a big spot. And somehow he hit
- 30:12Speaker 3: that pitch. Did you see the curveball that he hit? And, like,
- 30:15Speaker 3: he was off his front foot. He was off balance
- 30:18Speaker 3: and still scorched it down the line.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I fell asleep. I admit it.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I fell asleep before– I saw the home run, and
- 30:26Speaker 2: then I fell asleep in the tent. Listen, it's late
- 30:29Speaker 2: for me on the East Coast.
- 30:30Speaker 1: It was late. I tried to stay up through the
- 30:31Speaker 1: whole game.
- 30:32Speaker 2: And once the White Sox fell down 7-0 in the
- 30:35Speaker 2: second inning, I was kind of like, eh, this night's
- 30:39Speaker 2: over anyways. By the way, the Brewers have the second-best
- 30:42Speaker 2: odds to win the World Series behind the Dodgers. Should
- 30:44Speaker 2: the Brewers be World Series favorites? For me, no, just
- 30:48Speaker 2: because the Dodgers are in their league. But– Should they
- 30:52Speaker 2: have the second best odds because of the pitching, because
- 30:54Speaker 2: of the way they play? Is that fair, or should
- 30:57Speaker 2: they be number one?
- 30:59Speaker 3: I think that's where you're going to find value for sure,
- 31:01Speaker 3: but I don't think they should be number one. I
- 31:03Speaker 3: think it'll probably end, and I haven't seen the most
- 31:09Speaker 3: recent numbers, but probably they'll be like three or four.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I think it'll probably be Yankees will be number two,
- 31:15Speaker 3: right or wrong. I don't know that the Yankees are
- 31:17Speaker 3: the second best team. I think it's the Dodgers, and
- 31:20Speaker 3: then you could slot the Brewers in anywhere from two
- 31:24Speaker 3: to four.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:28Speaker 1: That's fair. That's fair.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I thought you would say the Phillies are number two
- 31:31Speaker 2: just because you're such a homer, but I guess you're
- 31:33Speaker 2: a Brewers homer too, so you.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Have a tough time. You're like, Brewers, Phillies, Brewers, Phillies.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I don't know which one to root for. I don't
- 31:39Speaker 1: know which one to be more of a homer for.
- 31:41Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I know it's going to be the two seed in
- 31:44Speaker 2: the American League though, so we'll talk about it. Those teams,
- 31:48Speaker 2: a different time.
- 31:49Speaker 3: The worst American League playoff team is going to be
- 31:52Speaker 3: the number two seed.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Nice. You can't say that. They have a better record.
- 31:58Speaker 2: The postseason run is heating up for Major League Baseball teams. Kratzy,
- 32:01Speaker 2: you can go see all these games, all the important games.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Whatever your team is, they have a great chance, almost
- 32:07Speaker 2: all of them, at being alive for the postseason. So
- 32:09Speaker 2: you can go on SeatGeek and find whatever team you want,
- 32:11Speaker 2: whatever game you want, whatever matchup you want, to try
- 32:14Speaker 2: to help cheer your team on to the postseason.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yeah, look ahead of your schedule. Go on to SeatGeek.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Essentially, your team's either in the playoffs or the team
- 32:23Speaker 3: they're playing has a chance in the playoffs. So all
- 32:26Speaker 3: these games in September, you got to get on there,
- 32:29Speaker 3: get your green dot, figure out where you're going to sit,
- 32:32Speaker 3: do it ahead of time, and use the codes.
- 32:36Speaker 2: And of course, I have a code for y'all. You

- 32:53Speaker 2: Get ready for MLB postseason by getting the perfect ticket
- 32:56Speaker 2: on SeatGeek. So Robert Murray, one of our friends of
- 33:06Speaker 2: the show, recently put out an article about who's on
- 33:09Speaker 2: the hot seat. Managers and executives. I love that they
- 33:12Speaker 2: always lead with Aaron Boone. Aaron Boone ain't going anywhere.
- 33:14Speaker 2: That's the picture. He's not going anywhere. He'll be back
- 33:18Speaker 2: in the Bronx next year. He has 34 consecutive winning seasons.
- 33:21Speaker 2: But here are the names that he's mentioned and they're
- 33:23Speaker 2: interesting for different reasons. Joe Espada, the Astros, he's probably
- 33:28Speaker 2: the obvious choice even though they have a great shot
- 33:30Speaker 2: at winning the division because they fired the GM and
- 33:33Speaker 2: Joe Espada, right? He's on the hot seat and some
- 33:36Speaker 2: people thought he might already have been let go but
- 33:38Speaker 2: Here he is, just leading the Astros to another winning year.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I texted– or I wanted to text Robert.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Like, this is such a troll– like a clickbait type–
- 33:48Speaker 3: he's got Aaron Boone's picture up there. No, I'm not
- 33:50Speaker 3: saying he did it. Booney's not on his list. And
- 33:53Speaker 3: Joe Espada, yeah, of course Joe Espada. I have a
- 33:55Speaker 3: hard time believing, outside of winning a World Series, that
- 33:58Speaker 3: Joe Espada comes back.
- 33:59Speaker 1: And it's nothing that Joe has done.
- 34:02Speaker 3: It's just the next GM that's brought in is going
- 34:05Speaker 3: to want somebody that's in line with Joe. Now, he
- 34:08Speaker 3: could probably still get in line. They still could be
- 34:12Speaker 3: on the same page. But it's just tough or it's
- 34:15Speaker 3: rare that you see a GM come in and go, Yeah, okay,
- 34:19Speaker 3: we'll keep the same guy. Even with the season that
- 34:21Speaker 3: they're having, the fact that they haven't had a rotation,
- 34:24Speaker 3: I think he's done a tremendous job, but.
- 34:27Speaker 1: He could still be fired. True.
- 34:30Speaker 2: All right, let's go through these next two real quick.
- 34:33Speaker 2: One of them, I know we're supposed to go to
- 34:35Speaker 2: Don Mattingly.
- 34:35Speaker 1: We're going to go to Torrey Lovello. He ain't getting fired.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Him and Mike Hazen are literally like brothers. He's not
- 34:40Speaker 2: getting fired. So why he's even on this list, I
- 34:42Speaker 2: don't know. He does a great job every year. Players
- 34:44Speaker 2: love him. Can we skip Torrey Lovello?
- 34:47Speaker 3: Yes, but everyone keeps asking Robert. So around the league,
- 34:53Speaker 3: people are asking why would he get– that would be
- 34:55Speaker 3: my question. Why would he get fired? Like if he
- 34:58Speaker 3: keeps his team even remotely in the playoff hunt with
- 35:02Speaker 3: all the rigamarole that's been going on around Cattell Marte,
- 35:05Speaker 3: I don't– he shouldn't be anywhere near this list.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Okay, and then Don Mattingly is the next one. I
- 35:12Speaker 2: think it's Mattingly's job to keep if he wants it.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I mean, his son is the GM.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 2: What's his son going to say? Dad, you're fired. I'm
- 35:18Speaker 2: firing you, Dad. How's Christmas and Thanksgiving going to be
- 35:21Speaker 2: around the Mattingly house?
- 35:23Speaker 1: I mean, I think he took.
- 35:23Speaker 2: This job this year, and I don't know that Don
- 35:25Speaker 2: wanted to manage again, but he's done a great job
- 35:27Speaker 2: with the Phillies, got them back into even the divisional race.
- 35:31Speaker 2: They're lined up for the postseason. So you think Don–
- 35:36Speaker 2: how mad is he he's not on the hot seat?
- 35:37Speaker 2: It's his job if he wants it, I feel like.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I would say so.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Obviously, it's his job depending on how far they go, too.
- 35:45Speaker 3: But again– Dombrowski, he wasn't the first choice. And that's
- 35:49Speaker 3: an awkward elephant in the room that they offered Joey Cora.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Dave Dombrowski offered Alex Cora, not Joey Cora, Alex Cora
- 35:57Speaker 3: the job between getting fired from the Red Sox and
- 36:02Speaker 3: the Phillies letting Topper go, letting Rob Thompson go. So
- 36:08Speaker 3: it's awkward, but he's a pro. Dombrowski's a pro. No
- 36:13Speaker 3: matter how this goes, the conversations will be had. It's
- 36:16Speaker 3: not going to be this awkward, like, well, it's October 31st.
- 36:20Speaker 3: We just won the world series.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Am I coming back?
- 36:22Speaker 3: Like I've, I have a hard time believing he doesn't
- 36:25Speaker 3: come back if he wants to, if they win the
- 36:27Speaker 3: world series, if they're, if they're two and Q and
- 36:31Speaker 3: they're out in the first round, do they go automatically
- 36:34Speaker 3: go to AC and say, good luck, Don somewhere else.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I just, I can't see him. If Don wants to
- 36:43Speaker 2: come back, I mean, you know, Unless they lose two,
- 36:46Speaker 2: which I don't know.
- 36:47Speaker 1: They might.
- 36:48Speaker 2: But unless they lose in the first round, I can't
- 36:49Speaker 2: imagine Don Mattingly not coming back.
- 36:50Speaker 1: But you know what? You never know.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I know Alex Cora's out there. Does Alex Cora want
- 36:54Speaker 2: to manage? He's still getting paid from the Red Sox,
- 36:56Speaker 2: I believe, for next year. So does he want to manage? Anyway,
- 36:59Speaker 2: let's go to a couple guys that the seat is
- 37:01Speaker 2: a lot warmer than the three we just talked about.
- 37:03Speaker 2: We're going to start Kurt Suzuki. John Moselock is now
- 37:06Speaker 2: in charge. No more Perry Manazian. He signed a one-year contract.
- 37:11Speaker 1: New owner. New GM. Knew everything. Kurt Suzuki going to
- 37:16Speaker 1: be back next year?
- 37:19Speaker 4: No.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I feel like this is the easiest one, and it's
- 37:22Speaker 3: nothing that he did. But it's also, I mean, the
- 37:26Speaker 3: graphic that's on the board right now, they already have
- 37:28Speaker 3: the E next to their name, meaning they're eliminated. And
- 37:32Speaker 3: they're below the Athletics, who have like three-quarters of their
- 37:37Speaker 3: lineup on the IL. I think there's a lot of
- 37:40Speaker 3: things that have gone wrong in L.A., Do I think
- 37:43Speaker 3: Kurt Suzuki is the main culprit of it?
- 37:46Speaker 4: No.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Do I think the lack of offense is a main
- 37:51Speaker 1: culprit of it? Yes. Lack of an actual roster? Yes.
- 37:55Speaker 3: But I think Kurt Suzuki could have helped this. I mean,
- 37:59Speaker 3: you've seen what Will Venable's done in Chicago. I don't
- 38:03Speaker 3: think they put a massive roster around Will Venable, and
- 38:08Speaker 3: he made adjustments in his tenure with the White Sox. So,
- 38:12Speaker 3: how are you going to make adjustments in one year?
- 38:14Speaker 3: They brought you in. And not only did they bring
- 38:17Speaker 3: you in for one, like players know you're in for
- 38:20Speaker 3: one year.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Like that, that sucks.
- 38:22Speaker 3: It's like, well, I mean, it's cool that you're coaching us,
- 38:25Speaker 3: but it just feels like an interim manager type of spot.
- 38:29Speaker 3: And I think sometimes it would be hard for big
- 38:32Speaker 3: leaguers to rally around that when your own job is
- 38:36Speaker 3: in flux. Not like a, not like a Joe Espada
- 38:39Speaker 3: who's technically considered a lame duck and They know Joe.
- 38:42Speaker 3: They've known him for years. He's set up a culture.
- 38:45Speaker 3: It's like if Kurt Suzuki wants to set up a culture,
- 38:47Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, that's cool, but we're going to start
- 38:50Speaker 3: doing that again next year. So it just feels like
- 38:54Speaker 3: they put him in a spot to fail.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Yeah, well, he took a one-year deal also. Let's not
- 38:59Speaker 2: forget that. And that was what he was offered. He
- 39:01Speaker 2: wanted to be a big league manager. I think Kurtz
- 39:03Speaker 2: is going to be a great manager if he's given
- 39:04Speaker 2: the opportunity to build a culture, build a team.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Will it be in Anaheim?
- 39:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Is Alex Cora, someone like that, a fit in Anaheim?
- 39:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I don't know because when Stan Kroenke takes over, he's
- 39:15Speaker 2: going to want to do it his way like he
- 39:16Speaker 2: did with the Rams, like he's done with the Avalanche,
- 39:18Speaker 2: like he's done with the Nuggets, right? So he's going
- 39:20Speaker 2: to want to do it the way he's won in
- 39:21Speaker 2: all these places. So I don't know who's the right fit.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 39:26Speaker 2: But now there's another question. Here's the other guy that's
- 39:28Speaker 2: really interesting. I don't know is another one. Tony Vitello.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I don't know. Is he a good manager? I don't know.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Is he a bad manager? I don't know. Is he
- 39:38Speaker 1: a pro manager? I don't know. Is Buster Posey going
- 39:40Speaker 1: to fire him? I don't know. Are the Giants going
- 39:43Speaker 1: to make a move?
- 39:44Speaker 2: I don't know because nobody really knows because the roster
- 39:47Speaker 2: was flawed from the get-go, right? So do you judge
- 39:51Speaker 2: Tony Vitello? I mean, he has Ron Washington. He has
- 39:54Speaker 2: Ron Wotus. He has all these guys that have been around, around, around.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Has he gotten better?
- 39:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 39:59Speaker 2: But the team hasn't gotten better. So do you judge
- 40:02Speaker 2: him with one year coming from college?
- 40:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 40:04Speaker 3: It's the I don't know question. It's the I don't
- 40:06Speaker 3: know Giants. I don't think people come here for the
- 40:09Speaker 3: I don't know. So my question to you would be,
- 40:11Speaker 3: do you feel like he's handled himself professionally from your
- 40:17Speaker 3: very 30,000-foot view?
- 40:20Speaker 2: I think he's had some moments. And I've gotten to
- 40:22Speaker 2: talk to Tony a few times doing the Giants games.
- 40:25Speaker 2: He says the right things and he's very open and
- 40:28Speaker 2: he says the right things. Now, sometimes does he say
- 40:33Speaker 2: almost too much to the point where you're like, that
- 40:35Speaker 2: can't be really real.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Right.
- 40:38Speaker 2: But I think he's gotten better with that over the,
- 40:41Speaker 2: I mean, again, you have to remember he came from
- 40:43Speaker 2: college where he was basically a God at Tennessee. I mean,
- 40:46Speaker 2: he could do no wrong. He won their first national
- 40:48Speaker 2: championship as a baseball coach. You know, he's hanging out
- 40:51Speaker 2: Morgan Wall and he's doing all these things, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 2: leading the football team, doing all these being on college game,
- 40:56Speaker 2: all these things.
- 40:56Speaker 4: Right.
- 40:57Speaker 2: And then he comes to the major leagues and he's like, wait,
- 40:59Speaker 2: I don't get to recruit.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I can't.
- 41:01Speaker 2: And even said early in the season, I had to
- 41:03Speaker 2: come to Jesus meeting the second game of the year.
- 41:05Speaker 2: And they're like, hey, dude, we got 160 more of
- 41:07Speaker 2: these to go.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 41:08Speaker 2: You can't scare big league players. It's really hard to
- 41:10Speaker 2: scare a big league player. guys under guaranteed contracts, no
- 41:14Speaker 2: trade clauses, all that. So I think he's gotten better.
- 41:17Speaker 2: But again, I don't know because I'm not there every day.
- 41:19Speaker 2: I'm not watching it. But I just don't know where he–
- 41:22Speaker 2: it's all about how Buster Posey feels about him, honestly,
- 41:24Speaker 2: because Buster Posey thinks he's made enough strides this year
- 41:28Speaker 2: to continue to grow with this team because they've got
- 41:30Speaker 2: a lot they've got to do in this team. It's
- 41:32Speaker 2: not just the manager.
- 41:34Speaker 3: I played with Buster Posey for a month and a
- 41:36Speaker 3: half when I was filling in until their injured catchers
- 41:40Speaker 3: came back. And I think we had two or three
- 41:42Speaker 3: conversations in that month and a half about how players feel,
- 41:48Speaker 3: about how players interact, about how players play their role.
- 41:53Speaker 3: None of it about like, man, why can't this guy
- 41:55Speaker 3: hit a slider? Why can't this guy pitch better? All
- 41:58Speaker 3: that stuff. I think that's where Buster Posey has a
- 42:01Speaker 3: superpower that he understands that kind of stuff. And I
- 42:04Speaker 3: think if Tony Vitello doesn't understand that from the pro
- 42:09Speaker 3: side of the game because college coaches can, can succeed
- 42:13Speaker 3: in pro ball. Pat Murphy was an admitted college coach.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Some of his players have come on and said, it's
- 42:19Speaker 3: more of a college mentality. Now you have to, to
- 42:23Speaker 3: succeed in the pro game. You have to be able
- 42:25Speaker 3: to adapt. You have to be able to deal with
- 42:29Speaker 3: Latin players. You have to deal with superstars. You have
- 42:31Speaker 3: to deal with call-ups at college in college and, You
- 42:36Speaker 3: were already in that kid's living room two years prior
- 42:38Speaker 3: to him showing up, and that kid comes in, and
- 42:41Speaker 3: it's my way or the highway. No matter what your
- 42:44Speaker 3: style is, it's my way or the highway. I want
- 42:46Speaker 3: you to be that fiery personality, yell at the other team.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Kids are like, cool, I can do that. I've been
- 42:53Speaker 3: disrespectful my whole life. But that's the mentality that he
- 42:59Speaker 3: had in college, and it's different in pro ball. So
- 43:03Speaker 3: that's going to be the question that Buster Posey has
- 43:05Speaker 3: to answer is, do I believe that his style, not
- 43:11Speaker 3: saying he's the same as he was in college, but
- 43:12Speaker 3: his style of dealing with people and making adjustments to
- 43:16Speaker 3: the cavalcade of different personalities in the locker room, if
- 43:20Speaker 3: he comes back next year.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I agree.
- 43:24Speaker 2: And by the way, one thing different about Murph and
- 43:26Speaker 2: Tony Vitale, Murph went to the minor leagues, managed in
- 43:28Speaker 2: the minor leagues, was a bench coach for a long time.
- 43:31Speaker 2: He learned how to do the pro style. He didn't
- 43:33Speaker 2: jump from A to B. There's been college guys that
- 43:36Speaker 2: have jumped from A to the minor leagues and done
- 43:38Speaker 2: a great job and been able to do it. But
- 43:40Speaker 2: when you go from A to B, that's why this
- 43:43Speaker 2: was such a fascinating hire when it happened. And it's
- 43:45Speaker 2: still fascinating because, again, I don't know what's going to happen.
- 43:48Speaker 2: I have no idea because they haven't really talked about it.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I'm assuming he's coming back, but I, again, I don't know.
- 43:54Speaker 2: So anyways, let's get, let's get, that's enough. I hate
- 43:57Speaker 2: talking about people possibly losing their job. It sucks because
- 43:59Speaker 2: people have lost, I've lost my job. Crouch, you've lost
- 44:01Speaker 2: your job. So it's just, it sucks for everybody.
- 44:04Speaker 4: All right.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Slap hands.
- 44:15Speaker 2: We're almost done for the day. Uh, go Seahawks.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Sorry, Jeremy.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Uh, patriots you know they had a lot of off-season
- 44:21Speaker 2: turmoil in patriot land aj brown coach had something going
- 44:24Speaker 2: on i'm not exactly sure what it was but there
- 44:26Speaker 2: was something going on with the patriots coach um and
- 44:29Speaker 2: by the way before we go uh akamoto first blue
- 44:33Speaker 2: jays rookie with 30 homers uh congratulations to him i
- 44:36Speaker 2: think it's the first year in forever three rookies have
- 44:39Speaker 2: hit 30 homers you have uh sal stewart akamoto and
- 44:43Speaker 2: then my boy murakami right i'm not i don't know
- 44:46Speaker 2: uh I think there was a stat where this is
- 44:49Speaker 2: the first season in forever that there's been three rookies
- 44:52Speaker 2: with 30 homers or something like that. So congratulations to
- 44:55Speaker 2: Okamoto for being the first guy. And then last but
- 44:59Speaker 2: not least, Lazaro Montes hit one really, really far that
- 45:04Speaker 2: made Junior Caminero jealous last night.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean, wow.
- 45:09Speaker 3: I don't know if we can show it. I would
- 45:12Speaker 3: like to, but let's just put it this way. When
- 45:14Speaker 3: you watch a Mariners game, and you look above the
- 45:17Speaker 3: batter's eye, that's big-time pop right there. I watched his debut,
- 45:23Speaker 3: Montez's debut, and I had heard 80-grade power.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I'm like, whoa, whoa, easy, J.J. Cooper.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Hot Sheet's telling me he's got, when he can tap
- 45:34Speaker 3: into it, it's 80-grade power. You're talking about some of
- 45:37Speaker 3: the most powerful, hardest-hitting guys in the big leagues, and
- 45:41Speaker 3: I watched him swing in the first game, and I
- 45:43Speaker 3: was like, okay, let's hope he is He is more
- 45:47Speaker 3: of a, you know, a mainstay in the big leagues
- 45:51Speaker 3: and not your Carlos Peguero, Juan Francisco kind of 80-grade
- 45:55Speaker 3: power because he hit that ball so far last night.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Willie Mopena taking a Jim Rice. One day I'll tell you.
- 46:04Speaker 2: One day I'll tell you a Willie Mopena Jim Rice story,
- 46:07Speaker 2: which I heard when I played for the Red Sox.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Great story.
- 46:10Speaker 2: When Jim Rice was trying to teach Willie Moe how
- 46:11Speaker 2: to hit. Anyways, Bryce Elder's out for a while. They're
- 46:15Speaker 2: hoping he can come back for the playoffs.
- 46:17Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 46:17Speaker 2: The Braves just seem to figure it out and keep
- 46:19Speaker 2: on winning. So, you know, everyone, welcome. Thanks for watching today.
- 46:23Speaker 2: We'll see you all tomorrow. I don't know if Scott's
- 46:25Speaker 2: back or not, if he's coming back from the club
- 46:27Speaker 2: or not. But, Scott, hopefully you're back tomorrow. If not,
- 46:30Speaker 2: we'll do this again.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Crowd, thanks. Great job, as always. We'll see you all tomorrow.
