- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: To the Angel of the church in Philadelphia. Right, These
- 1:29Speaker 2: are the words of him who is holy and true,
- 1:33Speaker 2: who holds the key of David. What he opens no
- 1:37Speaker 2: one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I know your deeds. See I have placed before you
- 1:45Speaker 2: an open door that no one can shut. I know
- 1:49Speaker 2: that you have little strength, Yet you have kept my
- 1:53Speaker 2: word and have not denied my name. Revelation three, seven
- 2:01Speaker 2: and eight. This was God speaking prophetically to the churches
- 2:08Speaker 2: in those cities seven different churches that were addressed What
- 2:16Speaker 2: is God saying to the Church today? There is much
- 2:21Speaker 2: discussion about what the church is doing in society or
- 2:26Speaker 2: perhaps not doing today. Early in the history of the church,
- 2:32Speaker 2: there was greater impact in influence in our society. Over time,
- 2:38Speaker 2: that influence helped to fuel some of the most evangelical
- 2:42Speaker 2: revivals and kept society on a right path. Where is
- 2:47Speaker 2: that influence today? Recently we have seen our nation go
- 2:54Speaker 2: into an uproar because of the way that a presidential
- 3:01Speaker 2: election was actually accomplished. Our society has been shaken and
- 3:10Speaker 2: is still shaking because of the way that we have
- 3:17Speaker 2: become divided as a nation. So we look at our
- 3:23Speaker 2: society and we reach out to God for consolation, direction,
- 3:30Speaker 2: and for comfort. Many people today are hurting. Many people
- 3:37Speaker 2: today are misunderstood. What is God saying to the church.
- 3:44Speaker 2: If we remember how many felt the rejection of our
- 3:49Speaker 2: society and we could see that there was noted absence
- 3:54Speaker 2: of evangelical preachers who were not really allowed to participate
- 4:02Speaker 2: in many of the political functions. When we see this again,
- 4:09Speaker 2: we have to ask where is the church's influence today?
- 4:15Speaker 2: What is God saying to the Church today? In the
- 4:18Speaker 2: book of Revelation, the Lord Jesus sends a message to
- 4:22Speaker 2: seven churches. His messages commended them for what they were doing,
- 4:29Speaker 2: but also for six of the churches, he condemned them
- 4:34Speaker 2: for what they were not doing. God is always speaking
- 4:39Speaker 2: to the church. The real question is are we listening.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 4:48Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 4:50Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard K. You can hear
- 4:53Speaker 1: this message in his entirety again online as well as
- 4:56Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talk Network Radio. We would like
- 5:01Speaker 1: to acknowledge our theme song, how Great Is Thy Faithfulness
- 5:05Speaker 1: from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album unless otherwise.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 5:13Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard
- 5:21Speaker 1: K include Great Is Thy Faithfulness? By Our Daily Bread
- 5:25Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 5:29Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 5:33Speaker 2: The next important question is are we obedient to do
- 5:40Speaker 2: what he says In the Book of James. It is
- 5:44Speaker 2: recorded in the first chapter beginning in the twenty second verse.
- 5:50Speaker 2: But be doers of the Word and not hearers, only
- 5:55Speaker 2: deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the
- 6:00Speaker 2: Word and not a doer, he is like a man
- 6:03Speaker 2: looking at his own face in a mirror. For he
- 6:06Speaker 2: looks at himself, goes away and right away forgets what
- 6:12Speaker 2: kind of man he was. But the one who looks
- 6:17Speaker 2: intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it,
- 6:24Speaker 2: and is not a forgetful hearer, but a doer who acts,
- 6:30Speaker 2: this person will be blessed in what he does. I
- 6:36Speaker 2: believe that the church needs to hear from God today.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Not only should we be hearing, but we should be
- 6:47Speaker 2: obedient to do what he says. Our society needs direction.
- 6:54Speaker 2: We need to be the leaders to bring the direction
- 7:00Speaker 2: so that our country can return to God. And that
- 7:07Speaker 2: is today's Reflection on the Word.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 7:14Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Work with
- 7:17Speaker 1: Richard k or Richard Retire Team. This is Chuck Christie
- 7:21Speaker 1: saying thanks for listening to this edition of Reflections on
- 7:24Speaker 1: the Word.
