- 2:34Speaker 1: in a story at ESPN dot com, had an anecdote
- 2:37Speaker 1: about his Welcome to the NBA moment where he was
- 2:41Speaker 1: just getting hounded by Pat Beverley. Do you remember, yes,
- 2:49Speaker 1: your welcome to the NBA moment.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Yes, I'll give you two welcome to the NBA moments.
- 2:56Speaker 6: So our first one my third preseason game. We were
- 3:00Speaker 6: playing the New Orleans Pelicans in New Orleans. On the
- 3:04Speaker 6: team it's me and Justice winslower rookies that teams like
- 3:09Speaker 6: d Wade, like Chris Bosh was still playing, Amarris Stane Meyer,
- 3:14Speaker 6: Goran Dragic, Lou All Dang, who's my vet, John Lou,
- 3:18Speaker 6: it's my dog.
- 3:19Speaker 5: And so we're playing the Pelicans and this is like.
- 3:22Speaker 6: My first minutes, you know, like you know, the preseason,
- 3:25Speaker 6: like young young guys who aren't like the top picks
- 3:28Speaker 6: aren't really getting a lot.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Of planning time. So I'm like you know, I'm chilling,
- 3:32Speaker 5: like working hard off the court, trying to figure it out.
- 3:34Speaker 5: So we're playing them and I go in in like
- 3:37Speaker 5: the second quarter. I'm like, what I'm going to this early?
- 3:40Speaker 5: So I match you up on Eric Gordon, great player.
- 3:43Speaker 6: If you're looking at the goal, we're in the left corner,
- 3:45Speaker 6: so if you're coming out, he's gonna be coming off
- 3:47Speaker 6: of a screen to his right hand, which he loves.
- 3:50Speaker 6: So we come off the screen. He's a shooter, so
- 3:53Speaker 6: I trailed the screen. I'm like, okay, like I can't
- 3:55Speaker 6: let me get this three off. He catches, turns the
- 3:58Speaker 6: corner sharp right down the lane. I'm like, all right,
- 4:02Speaker 6: this is right on my alley. I'm about to blaster
- 4:05Speaker 6: this on the glass. So he goes off his right foot.
- 4:08Speaker 6: I jump off of two my arm. I must have
- 4:11Speaker 6: pulled my arm back completely behind my head trying to
- 4:15Speaker 6: like block this. This man dunks the ball right like
- 4:20Speaker 6: right on me. I'm like, there's no way, bro, there's
- 4:23Speaker 6: no way.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Taking out. Right after I'm walking to the bench, I'm.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Like yo, and d Wade just like stands up in
- 4:32Speaker 6: front of me and just gives me like the Catholic blessing.
- 4:34Speaker 5: I was like, welcome to the league, young fellow.
- 4:37Speaker 6: I was like, and then I'd say the second one,
- 4:40Speaker 6: my rookie year, I didn't really play like my first
- 4:43Speaker 6: like forty ish games, like forty two ish games, and
- 4:48Speaker 6: so I was kind of living like vicariously through Justice.
- 4:51Speaker 5: You know. I was like talking to him, like seeing
- 4:54Speaker 5: how it feels out there.
- 4:55Speaker 6: My first game getting to play because we had injuries
- 5:00Speaker 6: was against Tharriers in twenty sixteen, and my first matchup
- 5:06Speaker 6: is Steph Curry.
- 5:09Speaker 5: So I'm like, all right, long story short, I go out,
- 5:12Speaker 5: I'm aggressive.
- 5:12Speaker 6: I'm like, you know, I felt like I, in my
- 5:16Speaker 6: heart feel like I did a decent job. But the
- 5:19Speaker 6: stat she will say that Steph had forty points that game.
- 5:25Speaker 5: But and I was on him for a good majority
- 5:27Speaker 5: of that game.
- 5:28Speaker 6: But that was like my like, all right, Like these
- 5:31Speaker 6: guys are really serious moment.
- 5:34Speaker 3: What is the most competitive environment you've played in?
- 5:36Speaker 4: I mean, you've played in so many big games for
- 5:39Speaker 4: so many different teams, Like what is the environment that
- 5:41Speaker 4: just really sticks out in your mind as Wow, that
- 5:43Speaker 4: was next level. I Mean we've heard all these stories
- 5:46Speaker 4: about how crazy MSG is, but we know that, like,
- 5:50Speaker 4: you know, there's other places just as crazy, right, or
- 5:52Speaker 4: is that really the pinnacle?
- 5:54Speaker 6: I mean, MG is probably in my top three favorite
- 5:56Speaker 6: places to play, to be honest with you, Just like
- 5:59Speaker 6: a stage there, the people, there is one thing like
- 6:02Speaker 6: it's like, oh yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 5: This is crazy.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Like I remember my second year in the league, I
- 6:05Speaker 6: was going for a loose ball. Alicia Keys was sitting
- 6:09Speaker 6: courtside and I was like, oh my god, oh my god,
- 6:13Speaker 6: And that was this. I was like obsessed with her
- 6:15Speaker 6: for a long time. So like that was probably my
- 6:17Speaker 6: welcome to MSG moment. But I'd say a crazy environment
- 6:22Speaker 6: that I played in, I probably say Philly in the
- 6:25Speaker 6: playoffs my third year was like every game, every minute
- 6:30Speaker 6: of that of that series was like a dog fight,
- 6:34Speaker 6: like a real dog fight. And the fans in Miami,
- 6:37Speaker 6: the fans in Philly, you know the history there. We
- 6:40Speaker 6: had a great series, I feel, and it was like
- 6:42Speaker 6: a lot of big moments, a lot of a lot
- 6:43Speaker 6: of moments for the crowd, for us and for them
- 6:46Speaker 6: to insert themselves into the game. So I'd probably say
- 6:50Speaker 6: that series.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Dallas is looking good.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Boston, You've played with, you practiced with guys on the rosters.
- 7:01Speaker 2: If it is Dallas versus Boston, in the finals.
- 7:05Speaker 1: What's the biggest thing the Celtics must do against Luca
- 7:10Speaker 1: and then vice versa, what must the Mavericks do against
- 7:13Speaker 1: Tatum and Brown?
- 7:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I think Boston's biggest thing defensively has got to
- 7:20Speaker 6: be they have to send different coverages because if Luca
- 7:24Speaker 6: gets comfortable against the coverage, you know, against the drop,
- 7:27Speaker 6: he's gonna get the guard on his back. He's six '
- 7:30Speaker 6: eight two forty, so I mean, as soon as he
- 7:33Speaker 6: comes off that screen, the big guy's basically in jail.
- 7:37Speaker 6: So I mean, I think they have to make the coverage,
- 7:39Speaker 6: have to drop, they have to hedge, they got to
- 7:42Speaker 6: send the blitz, so other guys, you know, have to
- 7:44Speaker 6: play and make decisions. I think Kyrie has been, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 6: one of the best players in these playoffs this year.
- 7:50Speaker 5: So slowing those two guys down is really never easy.
- 7:54Speaker 6: But I feel like their best chance is just you know,
- 7:57Speaker 6: mixing it up with high pressure or you know, just
- 8:02Speaker 6: just kind of switching it up and kind of letting
- 8:04Speaker 6: him think a little more. But I mean, they have
- 8:07Speaker 6: two of the best playmakers, scorers you know that the
- 8:11Speaker 6: league's ever seen, almost so it's never going to be easy.
- 8:14Speaker 6: But I say that, and then I say the Mavericks
- 8:18Speaker 6: slowing down, you know JT.
- 8:19Speaker 5: JB.
- 8:20Speaker 6: You know they're white through Holiday, Hayden Pritchard, Sam Houser.
- 8:26Speaker 6: If KP comes back, you know they have they just
- 8:30Speaker 6: have so many weapons.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Man.
- 8:31Speaker 6: I think their biggest strength is their their versatility and
- 8:34Speaker 6: how they can spread everything around. You know, alhor for
- 8:37Speaker 6: making seven threes in a game last week is like,
- 8:40Speaker 6: you know, you do your job and everyone else and
- 8:42Speaker 6: then he.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Comes out and does that. It's like, damn, like where's
- 8:45Speaker 5: the hole at you know what I'm saying.
- 8:46Speaker 6: And it's like they don't have any any offensive holes
- 8:50Speaker 6: in their team.
- 8:51Speaker 5: So basically, I'd say just being strong across.
- 8:54Speaker 6: The board, you know what I'm saying, don't let don't
- 8:56Speaker 6: let you know one guy, just just get going and
- 8:59Speaker 6: get super confident. But I mean it's easier said than done.
- 9:02Speaker 6: They have you know, two All Stars could have been
- 9:06Speaker 6: three All Stars. KP could have been an All Star
- 9:09Speaker 6: at some point. So I mean, Horford's been an All
- 9:12Speaker 6: Star multiple times. So I just feel like, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 6: controlling the pace of the game because you know, Luca
- 9:18Speaker 6: likes to slow it down and kind of see the
- 9:20Speaker 6: full court and letting him do his thing, and I
- 9:24Speaker 6: probably said those are the biggest things for each team.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So you mentioned you got a blitz Luca, and obviously
- 9:33Speaker 1: one of the most important plays in this series with
- 9:36Speaker 1: the Wolves and the MAVs was that game winning shot
- 9:40Speaker 1: he hit and he basically had Rudy Gobert one on
- 9:43Speaker 1: one and you put him.
- 9:43Speaker 2: On skates when you were watching that.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, right, So when you're watching that and you see
- 9:50Speaker 1: that as a player, are you asking yourself?
- 9:54Speaker 2: How did they let themselves get in a position where
- 9:56Speaker 2: Rudy Gobert.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Ends up alone when they knew that was going to
- 9:59Speaker 1: be the exact play. Everybody in the building, everybody watching
- 10:03Speaker 1: the game knew exactly what was going to happen. How
- 10:07Speaker 1: do players end up in a position where that ends
- 10:11Speaker 1: up being the matchup that the MAVs get when everybody
- 10:15Speaker 1: knows that's what they want.
- 10:17Speaker 6: I mean, it's tough, man, because because Lucas just so
- 10:21Speaker 6: good at like getting in the position that he wants,
- 10:25Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying.
- 10:25Speaker 5: So if you look at.
- 10:27Speaker 6: The play, like Gobert came up and it wasn't the
- 10:31Speaker 6: plan for him to switch on to Luca, but you know,
- 10:35Speaker 6: as a screen happened.
- 10:36Speaker 5: Everything happened.
- 10:36Speaker 6: Lucas so good at like he stopped, he waited, he
- 10:39Speaker 6: got a guy on his back, he backed it up,
- 10:42Speaker 6: and McDaniels didn't want to switch. You could see it
- 10:44Speaker 6: in his face that he didn't want to switch after
- 10:46Speaker 6: it happened, and Rudy just got kind of got caught
- 10:48Speaker 6: out on an island. And you know, if you watch hoops,
- 10:52Speaker 6: you know there's history to that matchup, you know, with
- 10:56Speaker 6: their countries to you know, even in the league matchup,
- 11:00Speaker 6: and Luca just like he for some reason, he loves
- 11:04Speaker 6: that matchup.
- 11:05Speaker 5: And so.
- 11:07Speaker 6: I mean, if I was watching another show while the
- 11:11Speaker 6: game was having Jamal Crawford, you know, called the exact move, like, oh,
- 11:15Speaker 6: he's going to step back, and I'm sitting at my
- 11:17Speaker 6: house like some of my boys are here, I'm like, oh,
- 11:19Speaker 6: he's going to shoot a step back, and it's like
- 11:22Speaker 6: it's one of the most unstoppable moves in the game.
- 11:24Speaker 6: And I think Rudy is a great defender and it
- 11:28Speaker 6: was just a tough shot to make over seven foot
- 11:30Speaker 6: whatever guy. But when you're looking at Luca and Kyrie,
- 11:33Speaker 6: it's like you can't really even say that at this point,
- 11:36Speaker 6: anymore because they've done it so many times. It's like
- 11:40Speaker 6: you got to send something else, like you got to
- 11:42Speaker 6: make someone else beat you.
- 11:43Speaker 5: But he's just.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Great at manipulating the game and getting the ball to
- 11:47Speaker 6: the spots that he wants.
- 11:49Speaker 5: And I think that's really what he did with that play.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Hyrie is so freaking talented what he can do with
- 11:59Speaker 1: the ball and put it on a string, and then
- 12:03Speaker 1: his shot making around the hoop, and the fact he
- 12:05Speaker 1: can just light it up in the second half when
- 12:08Speaker 1: he was absent in the first half almost it will.
- 12:13Speaker 1: What do players say about Kyrie because he's been such
- 12:17Speaker 1: a mercurial personality for so long and the way he's
- 12:21Speaker 1: evolved in Dallas and the way his game is elevated,
- 12:27Speaker 1: what do players say about him as a talent when
- 12:31Speaker 1: they are just talking amongst themselves about basketball.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Yes, it's kind of known like that.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Kyrie is just one of the most talented, like overall
- 12:43Speaker 6: across the board players ever to touch the ball. I
- 12:46Speaker 6: think he has the best handle ever, like ever. I
- 12:50Speaker 6: think he's the best ball handler ever in the NBA.
- 12:54Speaker 6: And I think there's a lot of guys that would
- 12:56Speaker 6: agree with that statement. You know, it's not like an
- 12:58Speaker 6: outlandish thing to say. You know, a lot of guys like, yeah,
- 13:01Speaker 6: I can see that, you know. And and just the
- 13:04Speaker 6: way that you know, he's grown, like as a leader,
- 13:09Speaker 6: you know, since he was in Cleveland.
- 13:11Speaker 5: The way that he's just like kind of involved himself
- 13:14Speaker 5: is really cool to see. You know.
- 13:16Speaker 6: It's not great for the other side of the game
- 13:18Speaker 6: because we're competing. It gets there and he's just like,
- 13:21Speaker 6: you know, he's always leveling up. But you know, he's
- 13:25Speaker 6: as a finisher around the rim. A lot of guys
- 13:27Speaker 6: know that, Like, you know, it's a thing like you
- 13:29Speaker 6: Kyrie was like six binds, like it'd be completely unstoppable,
- 13:33Speaker 6: like completely unstoppable, and so just yeah, man, it's just
- 13:38Speaker 6: a testament to his work and to his growth that
- 13:41Speaker 6: people are seeing right now. But I mean, I think
- 13:44Speaker 6: that he's he's always been one of the best, one
- 13:47Speaker 6: of the best guys, you know, one of the most
- 13:48Speaker 6: talented guys with the with the handle and finishing.
- 13:52Speaker 5: You know, it's clutch factor.
- 13:53Speaker 6: He's made gigantic shots, and you know that that's kind
- 13:58Speaker 6: of a kind of a a tip of the hat.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Who is mental, you know what I'm saying, he's mentally
- 14:04Speaker 6: so strong, you know, especially with all the things that
- 14:07Speaker 6: he's had going on, you know, off the court, with
- 14:09Speaker 6: the media messing with him and stuff, for him to
- 14:12Speaker 6: just stay so locked in, you know what I'm saying,
- 14:14Speaker 6: that's it's uh, it's definitely something to be commended.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Who in the Mavericks locker room or in the NBA
- 14:23Speaker 1: anywhere is the best at either mimicking Luca or giving
- 14:33Speaker 1: Luca a hard time for the amount that he the
- 14:37Speaker 1: historyonics after so many shots and the amount of times
- 14:41Speaker 1: he gets in a ref's face.
- 14:45Speaker 5: It might be Mark Cuban. You know, Cuban makes fun
- 14:51Speaker 5: of him for it a lot, but you know he
- 14:52Speaker 5: does the same thing when he's out there.
- 14:54Speaker 6: You know, he's the score tight every game, and he's
- 14:57Speaker 6: always you know, so into the game and and letting
- 15:00Speaker 6: the rest have it.
- 15:01Speaker 5: You know, It's cool to.
- 15:02Speaker 6: Have an owner that's so like involved and invested in
- 15:06Speaker 6: what's going on for the game.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I'm trying to think of like a player that don't
- 15:11Speaker 5: really like you know, Maxi kleeber Kyan messes with him
- 15:14Speaker 5: about it. I don't know if he still does. When
- 15:16Speaker 5: I was in Dallasy, it definitely a little bit, but
- 15:20Speaker 5: nobody really just like messes with him about it.
- 15:23Speaker 6: It's kind of just like a thing, like all right,
- 15:25Speaker 6: just let him, just let him go and hopefully doesn't
- 15:28Speaker 6: get a tank.
- 15:30Speaker 4: It makes you so happy here and you give Kyrie
- 15:32Speaker 4: as flowers just because I think it is immediate thing, right,
- 15:36Speaker 4: I think real basketball players and Hooper is like Kyrie.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Like Kyrie says some crazy stuff every now and every
- 15:41Speaker 4: now and then who cares? It was really like Boston
- 15:45Speaker 4: that whole thing.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I like, that's why I went.
- 15:47Speaker 4: The redemption, Like I don't want to get into all that,
- 15:48Speaker 4: but him if he would beat Boston. I mean, I
- 15:52Speaker 4: love Kyrie. I'm biased as well, I should say up front,
- 15:54Speaker 4: I'm a Duke fan, so to me, you know, when
- 15:57Speaker 4: I first got into Kyrie, we have the wreck playing basketball.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Buddy was like, dude, he's he's literally Jason Williams, and
- 16:04Speaker 4: I'm like, nah, he's not Jason Williams. He's like, wait,
- 16:07Speaker 4: do you see this kid? Because he watched him in
- 16:08Speaker 4: high school and he is so much Again, Jason Williams
- 16:12Speaker 4: is incredible, but Kyrie is another level. Like like you said,
- 16:16Speaker 4: the handling, he is in a box with three guys
- 16:19Speaker 4: around him, and he can get out of that box.
- 16:21Speaker 3: It's it really is something special.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So you're talking about here the defense, Why is there
- 16:26Speaker 4: no adjustments to make because we know the defense gets
- 16:29Speaker 4: so hard and intense in the playoffs.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Is there just no adjustment?
- 16:33Speaker 6: Like?
- 16:33Speaker 4: Is Luca and Kyrie that like people are talking about
- 16:35Speaker 4: one of the best back courts in all basketball? Is
- 16:38Speaker 4: there no adjustment? Like because people keep saying, well, Boston
- 16:41Speaker 4: has the guys, right, Jalen Brown is one of the
- 16:43Speaker 4: best defenders. I mean, we're talking about a team here
- 16:46Speaker 4: that has the guards. Apparently, is this like the Dreams
- 16:49Speaker 4: and there where it's like, no, there is nothing that
- 16:50Speaker 4: can stop Luca or Kyrie.
- 16:52Speaker 3: What's your review on that?
- 16:55Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 16:56Speaker 6: And one thing, you know in the playoffs, defense really
- 17:01Speaker 6: like changes Like defense really like.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Hunkers down, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:07Speaker 6: Like you're having like our hour and a half two
- 17:10Speaker 6: hour film sessions, you know, on every day between games
- 17:13Speaker 6: and so like if they call a play, like the
- 17:15Speaker 6: other team knows to play, like it's not like they're
- 17:17Speaker 6: like like you're watching on TV and.
- 17:19Speaker 5: It's like, oh, how that guy gets so open? You
- 17:23Speaker 5: know they should know that.
- 17:24Speaker 6: Like there's never that unless like somebody just completely blows
- 17:28Speaker 6: a coverage, And at this point in the season, if
- 17:30Speaker 6: anyone besides like the superstar and the team blows like
- 17:34Speaker 6: blows or coverage.
- 17:35Speaker 5: Like that, it's going to be a huge issue. You
- 17:36Speaker 5: know what I'm saying. They're probably coming out of the game,
- 17:38Speaker 5: to be honest.
- 17:39Speaker 6: And so a lot of it just comes down to
- 17:43Speaker 6: like making plays like Mino even Mino me and you
- 17:47Speaker 6: like I'm better than you. Basically is what they've been
- 17:50Speaker 6: doing a lot of these playoffs, and you can make
- 17:54Speaker 6: whatever adjustment you want, man Like it's it's usually going
- 17:59Speaker 6: to come down to shop. Like a lot of the playoffs,
- 18:01Speaker 6: like you see in the regular season.
- 18:03Speaker 5: A lot of layups and threes. That's the thing. Like
- 18:06Speaker 5: today in the NBA, like we got to.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Get lay up, we gotta get a three, like analytics like,
- 18:10Speaker 6: come on, let's let's do it. But in the playoffs,
- 18:12Speaker 6: the game slows down. A lot of it comes down to, Okay,
- 18:15Speaker 6: who can get a shot up. We can't get a turnover.
- 18:19Speaker 6: They're sitting on every action. Who can find like this
- 18:22Speaker 6: much space to get that mid range off or to
- 18:25Speaker 6: get that you know, that floater off. You see Kyrie
- 18:27Speaker 6: shots and floaters, which is like, who else really does
- 18:33Speaker 6: stuff like that besides like Mike Conley, who has the
- 18:36Speaker 6: best off handed floater in the league. But yeah, a
- 18:40Speaker 6: lot of it's just just stop.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Making defense in the playoffs. We talked a little bit
- 18:47Speaker 1: about this before we all went on the air. You
- 18:51Speaker 1: are known as a defender. It's how you've made your name.
- 18:54Speaker 2: In the league.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And even when you were in high school, when you
- 18:59Speaker 1: were in college, it's not like you were a guy
- 19:02Speaker 1: scoring thirty points a game, right, you were a guy
- 19:05Speaker 1: who has made his way into professional basketball as a
- 19:09Speaker 1: staunch defender. Explain how it levels up in the playoffs,
- 19:14Speaker 1: because that is what's constantly talked about, is how much
- 19:17Speaker 1: harder defense gets.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Oh, I mean, yeah it does. And I kind of
- 19:21Speaker 5: touched on it just a minute ago. It's just like.
- 19:27Speaker 6: The preparation I think is the biggest change in defense
- 19:32Speaker 6: from like regular season a playoffs because regular season you're
- 19:35Speaker 6: playing different guys. You know, you look at the Scott
- 19:37Speaker 6: and Porton team for a couple of days, you know,
- 19:40Speaker 6: if you get lucky because we play every what two
- 19:44Speaker 6: nights on average, you know what I'm saying, So even
- 19:47Speaker 6: on back to backs, like you're scouting Porsch that morning,
- 19:50Speaker 6: and you're just gonna have to go off of that.
- 19:52Speaker 6: But now, you know, you're just sitting there just like
- 19:55Speaker 6: studying these guys, studying the percentages, their tendencies, where they
- 19:58Speaker 6: like to go, and you know, the players that the
- 20:01Speaker 6: teams like to run with, what personnel, and I mean
- 20:05Speaker 6: the physical like aspect of the defense, I feel doesn't
- 20:10Speaker 6: really change. It's just the small adjustments and and the
- 20:13Speaker 6: amount of time you just literally spend in the film room,
- 20:17Speaker 6: you know, seeing the best way to stop these guys.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Who do you like to watch defensively to pick up
- 20:23Speaker 1: tips that you think nails it in the NBA right now?
- 20:29Speaker 6: I think Drew Holiday, man, I think he's just done
- 20:31Speaker 6: like such a great job, you know, as a perimeter
- 20:34Speaker 6: defender myself. I think I see a lot of things
- 20:37Speaker 6: that he does on the court that that I could
- 20:40Speaker 6: really you know, pick up from or take from. You know,
- 20:43Speaker 6: he's a pest and I've seen him bother some of
- 20:45Speaker 6: the best players in the NBA for forty minutes in
- 20:48Speaker 6: a game, and it's like like, man, like this guy
- 20:51Speaker 6: can't even like really get a shout out. He can't
- 20:54Speaker 6: even really get to the spot he wants to Drew
- 20:56Speaker 6: is just like blowing every play up.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Drew is just his mental like he's a step ahead
- 21:01Speaker 5: of everything.
- 21:01Speaker 6: And you know it's some great defenders, but his his
- 21:04Speaker 6: like cerebral aspect on the defensive game is like next
- 21:09Speaker 6: level I go and.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I love Drew.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Also, he's a guy who he went through a lot
- 21:15Speaker 4: in life, Like people don't know his story of what
- 21:16Speaker 4: he's gone through, but read into it like this, I'm
- 21:19Speaker 4: a sitrus man, so I have found his career since
- 21:21Speaker 4: he was seventeen, Like we literally took this kid and
- 21:24Speaker 4: he graduated college early, like he was legit seventeen eighteen
- 21:27Speaker 4: when the Sixers took him. So yeah, like you breaking
- 21:30Speaker 4: it down there, it's it's so true like this this
- 21:32Speaker 4: guy people kept writing him off. Right when he got
- 21:34Speaker 4: traded from Milwaukee, people wrote him off. And again here
- 21:38Speaker 4: he is and the NBA Finals is a key piece
- 21:40Speaker 4: to this Celtics team.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I love that you're giving him praise.
- 21:43Speaker 1: There, Simon, can you name the fastest gap in the
- 21:46Speaker 1: United States?
- 21:47Speaker 3: Game Time?
- 21:47Speaker 1: That's right, it's game Time. I love Game Time for
- 21:49Speaker 1: two reasons. First, they still sponsored this show. Second, I
- 21:52Speaker 1: use game Time all the time. They have amazing last
- 21:55Speaker 1: minute deals including pro and college sports. Speaking of which,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I'm going to open game Time right here from my
- 22:00Speaker 1: house here in Connecticut. Look aloo, I can get in
- 22:05Speaker 1: to see the New York metropolitans for less than fifteen
- 22:09Speaker 1: dollars and one of those beautiful nights you're ever gonna
- 22:11Speaker 1: see in the New York City metropolitan area. No matter
- 22:15Speaker 1: where you live. Download the game Time app. Get out
- 22:16Speaker 1: have some fun this week.
- 22:18Speaker 2: You deserve it.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You can redeem code favorites for twenty dollars off first
- 22:21Speaker 1: purchase terms apply again.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Just download the game Time app.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Use code favorites for twenty dollars off your first purchase
- 22:27Speaker 1: last minute tickets well as prices guarantee you were a
- 22:31Speaker 1: second round pick. You're playing on the Heat and the Heat. Look,
- 22:34Speaker 1: heat culture has become a real thing, right and we've
- 22:37Speaker 1: seen how the Heat have developed players over the years.
- 22:41Speaker 1: What is it about their system and obviously you're back
- 22:44Speaker 1: there now, What is it about their system that allows
- 22:48Speaker 1: for that kind of development? So a player like you,
- 22:50Speaker 1: who maybe doesn't play for forty games is going to
- 22:54Speaker 1: come off the bench in the middle of a season
- 22:56Speaker 1: and they feel confident that you've gotten to the place
- 22:58Speaker 1: that you need to be and no one else might
- 23:01Speaker 1: know that yet, but you will, despite getting lit up
- 23:03Speaker 1: by by Steph for forty prove to everybody that you
- 23:06Speaker 1: would put yourself that they have put you in the
- 23:08Speaker 1: right position.
- 23:08Speaker 2: How do they manage that development?
- 23:12Speaker 6: For me personally, I didn't at the time, I was frustrated.
- 23:17Speaker 5: I didn't love it, you know.
- 23:18Speaker 6: But first of all, with the Heat culture, I think
- 23:21Speaker 6: the biggest separator from that and other teams is the
- 23:25Speaker 6: accountability aspect of it. You know, Like I've been on
- 23:29Speaker 6: a few teams where it's like, you know, yeah, like
- 23:31Speaker 6: things are things are cool, things are nice, like the
- 23:34Speaker 6: team has good chemistry and everything, but like once it
- 23:38Speaker 6: really comes down to the accountability across the board is
- 23:41Speaker 6: just not always there. And so sometimes people can get
- 23:44Speaker 6: sensitive about some things and here like that's non existent.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Like they've done a great job of like.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Of like weeding out the the aspect of like conflict
- 24:00Speaker 6: when it comes to like accountability, like you're doing this wrong,
- 24:03Speaker 6: you're doing this wrong, blah blah blah.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Like we'll go at it and like people will argue,
- 24:08Speaker 5: people might fight, you know what I'm saying.
- 24:10Speaker 6: But ooh, and the coaching staff do a good job
- 24:13Speaker 6: of letting it go and letting the guys like handle
- 24:15Speaker 6: it themselves and solve with themselves. It spoke and the
- 24:18Speaker 6: coaching staff are part of that, like they hold themselves accountable,
- 24:21Speaker 6: and I think it's a big deal that, you know,
- 24:23Speaker 6: they let us hold them accountable.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Too when necessary.
- 24:26Speaker 6: But for me, my rookie year, not playing, you know,
- 24:30Speaker 6: he told me before the season started, was like, you're
- 24:32Speaker 6: probably not gonna play much like you're probably you know,
- 24:36Speaker 6: not gonna suit up a lot of these games, your
- 24:39Speaker 6: first like a couple of years, honestly, But I was
- 24:41Speaker 6: ready not.
- 24:41Speaker 5: To play for a long time, and so I'm on
- 24:45Speaker 5: the scout team for a long time. He's like, treat
- 24:48Speaker 5: this like your game.
- 24:49Speaker 6: I was like, I was that guy in practice that
- 24:52Speaker 6: like everyone like kind of like this, this freaking guy
- 24:55Speaker 6: like he's going extra hard in this drill, like this
- 24:58Speaker 6: is not even that time, and I'm like trying to
- 25:00Speaker 6: like like run myself into the ground. I'm like, I
- 25:03Speaker 6: don't care. I'm trying to.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Be the best of this. I'm going to get this.
- 25:07Speaker 6: And I'm like traveling with the team and I'm not
- 25:09Speaker 6: getting to play though, And so the coaches did a
- 25:13Speaker 6: good job of just staying in my ear, like just
- 25:14Speaker 6: keep working. It's gonna be a time where Spoe's gonna
- 25:18Speaker 6: have to throw you in there in the fire, and
- 25:19Speaker 6: you gotta be ready when that chance comes, you know
- 25:22Speaker 6: what I'm saying. And so I'm still working. I'm kind
- 25:26Speaker 6: of like started asking to go to the D League
- 25:28Speaker 6: at the time, the G League now, but I was like,
- 25:29Speaker 6: can I just go down there and like, you know, play,
- 25:32Speaker 6: like get a couple of games, you know, maybe see
- 25:35Speaker 6: like put some of this stuff into use.
- 25:37Speaker 5: And so they.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Finally sent me, and I go down for four games,
- 25:42Speaker 6: and I average probably like twenty eight a game.
- 25:45Speaker 5: And like it was a blessing.
- 25:49Speaker 6: We had just played in Santa Cruz and I got
- 25:53Speaker 6: called up to the team like right after that, and
- 25:56Speaker 6: because a few of our point guards got hurt, and
- 25:58Speaker 6: then I played a gameless season after that.
- 26:02Speaker 1: You mentioned accountability, which is really interesting, and you say
- 26:07Speaker 1: that the players will hold the coaches accountable. Give me
- 26:10Speaker 1: an example of what that looks like in either of
- 26:13Speaker 1: your stints with the heat.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Yeah, so those foe will have like in preseason, he'll
- 26:20Speaker 6: have like, you know, guys, come talk to us. You
- 26:23Speaker 6: know what I'm saying and kind of like like kind
- 26:26Speaker 6: of like class, you know what I'm saying, Just to learn,
- 26:29Speaker 6: because spose a big like component of learning and like
- 26:31Speaker 6: better in yourself. And so we had like these Navy
- 26:34Speaker 6: seals come and when when somebody would say something and
- 26:38Speaker 6: like to you, like for example, like if you were like, Ja, Rich,
- 26:42Speaker 6: I need you to to be better on this, like
- 26:46Speaker 6: on that coverage because you're blowing it twice blah blah blah,
- 26:49Speaker 6: I'm like and then I would say, okay, check like
- 26:52Speaker 6: because they say check once like they understand what's being said.
- 26:57Speaker 5: And so probably like my third actually, all through my first.
- 27:00Speaker 6: Few years after that, like we be in huddles and
- 27:05Speaker 6: like spoke sometimes would like get into the game and
- 27:08Speaker 6: he get like really passionate and he kind of like
- 27:11Speaker 6: take it over the top, which is fine, like it's
- 27:13Speaker 6: good to have a coach that does that sometimes because
- 27:15Speaker 6: you know they care. But like sometimes people would say
- 27:18Speaker 6: like put it in the box, which means forget about it.
- 27:21Speaker 5: It's over, like we're moving on. And so.
- 27:25Speaker 6: All throughout both stints here, like if something happens with
- 27:28Speaker 6: the coach, they say put in the box and literally
- 27:31Speaker 6: like you're right, check and then we keep going.
- 27:33Speaker 5: Like it happened in Phoenix this year.
- 27:35Speaker 6: We were getting by the suns and third quarter starts,
- 27:39Speaker 6: we're getting smacked. They go on an early run in
- 27:41Speaker 6: the third quarter and Spoe comes back, throws the clipboard
- 27:45Speaker 6: the bench and BAM's like, coach, that's not helping us, Like,
- 27:48Speaker 6: that's not helping us right now you're doing that. It's
- 27:51Speaker 6: really back in and figuring this out. It's like, you're right,
- 27:54Speaker 6: and we sat down and got to it. We still lost,
- 27:59Speaker 6: but it was a good moment for you know, the
- 28:03Speaker 6: chemistry I feel, so.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Before you get out of here, I knew you gotta
- 28:07Speaker 1: get going. As a defensive player, who's the hardest guy
- 28:14Speaker 1: to defend for you ever?
- 28:17Speaker 6: I would say James Harden on the rockets. James Harden
- 28:20Speaker 6: on the rockets. And it's like, towards the end of
- 28:23Speaker 6: the stint there was completely unguardable.
- 28:26Speaker 5: How come the step back man?
- 28:29Speaker 6: The step back he changed the league and the way
- 28:31Speaker 6: he was so good at drawing those fouls. He was
- 28:33Speaker 6: incredibly explosive off his first step, but his deceleration and
- 28:38Speaker 6: step back was also like top notch, best I've ever seen,
- 28:42Speaker 6: so I'd say James just from three level scoring, getting
- 28:48Speaker 6: in the paint, still dishing, still being able.
- 28:51Speaker 5: To shoot from thirty feet with no like, no issue.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Josh Richardson, Miami Heat, NBA vetter in thanks for joining

- 30:25Speaker 1: Simon and I recorded an episode in which we looked
- 30:28Speaker 1: at the Week one NFL lines, and we treated it
- 30:31Speaker 1: like a regular season NFL episode. We did a big balls,
- 30:34Speaker 1: we did a Simon says, we did an exact decision,
- 30:36Speaker 1: We did a foxhol. Naturally, Simon got a lot of
- 30:41Speaker 1: feedback from the professionals. So since we had a Week
- 30:45Speaker 1: one look at the lines in which we named all
- 30:47Speaker 1: of our bets, it seems only natural, Simon, that we
- 30:51Speaker 1: would have a segment of sharp calls.
- 30:57Speaker 5: Hello, who's there?
- 30:58Speaker 3: I'm talking rain.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Range telephone range, somebody saying what man?
- 31:06Speaker 3: So where do you want to start, Chatt? You want
- 31:08Speaker 3: to know what we got right, what we got wrong?
- 31:09Speaker 1: But we mess I want to start with what you
- 31:11Speaker 1: told me is what everyone thought I got right.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Uh that's very unbranded. Yeah, So number number one call
- 31:19Speaker 4: definitely a lot of love for the cardinals. I thought
- 31:21Speaker 4: that was the Joe public play of the offseason.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Cardinals, by the way, seven point underdogs.
- 31:27Speaker 4: They're playing the Bills, and I've seen a couple couple
- 31:30Speaker 4: of respected off short books hit plus seven and a half.
- 31:33Speaker 4: So even though the pros love this Cardinals number, you know,
- 31:37Speaker 4: this is a game that I think books are expecting
- 31:39Speaker 4: just to be a really big time teaser parlay games.
- 31:42Speaker 4: So like another reason why me and Chad will probably
- 31:45Speaker 4: take this money down and throw it into Ron Robin
- 31:48Speaker 4: because this is a big this is a big teaser
- 31:50Speaker 4: parlay breaker. But I kind of bad mouthed Kyler, and
- 31:53Speaker 4: I got a bunch of guys reaching out to me
- 31:56Speaker 4: saying Tyler has kind of changed, He's kind of grown
- 31:59Speaker 4: up a little bit.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Apparently he's living in the building.
- 32:01Speaker 4: He's there all day, every day, even before he was
- 32:04Speaker 4: required to show up, he's been showing up and been
- 32:07Speaker 4: put in the work. And so if that's true and
- 32:10Speaker 4: we kind of see that this summer and it keeps
- 32:13Speaker 4: it holds water, then I will backtrack on what I
- 32:16Speaker 4: said that he wasn't fully committed. I thought he was
- 32:18Speaker 4: more committed to you all field stuff and playing video games.
- 32:21Speaker 3: But if Kyler's all.
- 32:23Speaker 4: In He's one of the best athletes I've ever seen,
- 32:25Speaker 4: and now you're thrown in, you know, one of the
- 32:28Speaker 4: best receivers I've ever seen in college football now coming in.
- 32:31Speaker 4: We've seen the transition, right Cheat, there is no waiting
- 32:34Speaker 4: period usually for these guys. Usually they come in and
- 32:36Speaker 4: they just dominate and as we expect marbon Aris Junior.
- 32:39Speaker 4: So you're going up against a team that's lost all
- 32:42Speaker 4: the receivers and a team that's added one of the
- 32:44Speaker 4: best receivers of football.
- 32:46Speaker 3: So I understand they're logic here.
- 32:47Speaker 4: They're they're saying the back door will always be open
- 32:49Speaker 4: in this game, and that the Bills. I keep thinking
- 32:52Speaker 4: of the Bills like yesteryear, of this higher powered offense
- 32:55Speaker 4: that could really put it onto teams. But I think
- 32:59Speaker 4: with Chad Shake said, it's probably right what these professionals said.
- 33:02Speaker 4: I think Chad's want to say now, which is like,
- 33:04Speaker 4: this isn't the same Bills team. I don't think they're
- 33:05Speaker 4: gonna be blowing teams out like they used to be.
- 33:07Speaker 4: So yeah, Chad's feeling pretty good here the pros. I
- 33:10Speaker 4: agree with him on taking this plus seven.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Chad feels pretty good all the time, Simon, But He
- 33:16Speaker 1: feels especially good when the wise guys agree with one
- 33:21Speaker 1: of his picks.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Our other picks.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Our foxhol bet was gonna be Pittsburgh plus three. I
- 33:27Speaker 1: will say I got a call from someone saying, how
- 33:30Speaker 1: could the Fox will be Pittsburgh plus three? Like that
- 33:33Speaker 1: feels like the most public bet you could possibly make.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Everyone's gonna be on that bet. Any feedback on that one?
- 33:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Lanta is a new shiny toy.
- 33:43Speaker 4: I disagree everyone's gonna like Kirk, Everyone's all in on
- 33:46Speaker 4: them to win the division. They're just they're over is
- 33:48Speaker 4: getting hit. I talked to a bunch of bookmakers. I mean,
- 33:50Speaker 4: everyone's all over this to Atlanta team they are. It's
- 33:53Speaker 4: it's exciting. If you're Atlanta fan, you got to be excited,
- 33:55Speaker 4: like you have all the toys, You've just never had
- 33:57Speaker 4: the conductor and now you got it in Kirk. But
- 34:00Speaker 4: me and your reasoning is so true. You have a
- 34:02Speaker 4: guy coming off a major injury in his first start
- 34:04Speaker 4: on a new team, going against arguably the best end
- 34:08Speaker 4: in the last five six years in JJ Watt or
- 34:11Speaker 4: you know I shouldn't say j J Watt sorry, but yeah, yeah,
- 34:14Speaker 4: I know.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I just couldn't. I was like, I can't believe it.
- 34:16Speaker 4: I just called him JJ, But yeah, it's it's it's
- 34:19Speaker 4: it's just a spot we and Chat like to take.
- 34:20Speaker 4: And I've heard the pushback as well, where guys are
- 34:23Speaker 4: taking the two and a half on the Falcons. That's
- 34:25Speaker 4: what I think the value is when me and Chat
- 34:27Speaker 4: think the value is on Pittsburgh are And I know
- 34:30Speaker 4: I've had a couple of people to say, well Pittsburgh
- 34:31Speaker 4: actually gets out slow, didn't mean you win a big
- 34:35Speaker 4: bet on Pittsburgh's money line against Joe Burrow, Like that
- 34:39Speaker 4: was week one when they beat them two years ago.
- 34:41Speaker 4: So you know, don't have react to last year they
- 34:43Speaker 4: got blown out by the forty nine ers. Me and
- 34:45Speaker 4: chatted right there with you people like no one saw
- 34:47Speaker 4: that coming. We should have hidsights twenty twenty. But I'm
- 34:51Speaker 4: not going to react to what they've done the previous
- 34:53Speaker 4: first weeks of the year. I'm looking at this year
- 34:55Speaker 4: and I I'm not even It's not even that it's
- 34:57Speaker 4: so much me betting on Russell Wilson or Justin Fields.
- 35:00Speaker 4: It's really us about playing the number and what I
- 35:03Speaker 4: think is a nice matchup for the Pittsburgh's defense.
- 35:05Speaker 3: So I agree chat, I understand the pushback. I just
- 35:08Speaker 3: think we're playing the number YREH plus three.
- 35:10Speaker 2: New York Giants minus one that was our Simon says.
- 35:14Speaker 4: Agreement, like again, started to be boring about it, but yeah,
- 35:16Speaker 4: the pros like it, and then the pros that are
- 35:18Speaker 4: on the other side, they just view this Giants team
- 35:22Speaker 4: is kind of overrated, right, and I'm my disagreement with
- 35:25Speaker 4: them is how are they over rader? And they're saying, well,
- 35:27Speaker 4: people like you keep saying that, Well, they had that
- 35:29Speaker 4: great run two years ago with Daniel Jones and him
- 35:31Speaker 4: beating Kirk and the Vikings in the playoffs, and that
- 35:34Speaker 4: was kind of a flucush Shei's and where last year
- 35:36Speaker 4: was more the reality.
- 35:37Speaker 3: I just disagree with it.
- 35:38Speaker 4: It's like, I think they've added a superstar ride receiver potentially,
- 35:43Speaker 4: and I think they've proved a little thing on the
- 35:44Speaker 4: offensive line. I think their defense too, is going to
- 35:46Speaker 4: be better than it was last year. So last year
- 35:48Speaker 4: was such a fluky year. I think they started one to.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Five the Giants.
- 35:51Speaker 4: That was just the start from hell, and then the
- 35:53Speaker 4: guy gets hurt and it just all fell apart, where
- 35:56Speaker 4: I again, this isn't a split I think more professionals
- 35:59Speaker 4: are on the inside. I just viewed this as a
- 36:02Speaker 4: slam dunk. I told you I got this at three,
- 36:04Speaker 4: so it's like two points of value and the number
- 36:06Speaker 4: is not really budget. I mean even some books shaded
- 36:08Speaker 4: towards the Vikings, so it means Vikings money still coming in.
- 36:11Speaker 4: So they're just another team I think is getting too
- 36:14Speaker 4: much love.
- 36:16Speaker 3: And I just think J. J.
- 36:17Speaker 4: McCarthy's gonna have insane growing pains. A guy who you
- 36:19Speaker 4: know maybe threw the ball ten to fifteen times any
- 36:22Speaker 4: given start in college, he's gonna have massive growing pains.
- 36:25Speaker 4: And again, if it's Sam Darnold, even better. So I
- 36:28Speaker 4: just I think this Giants teams being undervalued here. But yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 4: not there's one game we're gonna get through that. It's
- 36:34Speaker 4: extreme love Chad. This Unfortunately the Giants game was not.
- 36:36Speaker 1: It was it Chad Mellman's exact decision of the Indianapolis
- 36:41Speaker 1: Calls plus one and a half at home against the
- 36:44Speaker 1: Houston Texans, one of two road or home dogs in
- 36:48Speaker 1: Week one, right now, Yeah, I.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Have this smite Chad down real quick.
- 36:52Speaker 4: It was one of my favorite bets before he got on,
- 36:54Speaker 4: So Chad knew I already loved it, but yeah, the
- 36:57Speaker 4: pros love it. It's the definition of why I mean,
- 37:00Speaker 4: Chad love making these kind of bets. It's like we
- 37:03Speaker 4: are enamored with the upside of the Colts. We love
- 37:06Speaker 4: a good home dog, and not only that it's a
- 37:08Speaker 4: home divisional dog. Then you add in this Houston team
- 37:11Speaker 4: is I mean, we talked about hyped up teams here.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Houston's got to be number one, right, I mean, look,
- 37:17Speaker 4: any talk to anyone I think Meetchat are gonna make
- 37:19Speaker 4: our own stupid top ten lists this summer QB list.
- 37:22Speaker 4: He's probably gonna be in there, like CJ is just
- 37:24Speaker 4: it's of course, yeah, we're all enamored with him, like
- 37:28Speaker 4: watching his film, all of it, and we say time
- 37:30Speaker 4: and time again, you get a full season, they get
- 37:33Speaker 4: film on you, and then there's adjustment. That's why usually
- 37:37Speaker 4: the best time to bet these guys to get MVP,
- 37:39Speaker 4: Like the time we got Lamar. Lamar played three or
- 37:42Speaker 4: four games with the Ravens, then we got a nice
- 37:44Speaker 4: fifty to one him. The next year, Mahomes came in
- 37:47Speaker 4: only played one game, right, and then the second year
- 37:49Speaker 4: he kind of took the league by storm. Then obviously
- 37:51Speaker 4: the adjustments come. So yeah, this the CJ thing. I
- 37:54Speaker 4: get the love for them, but this was this was
- 37:57Speaker 4: a game I knew meetchat we're gonna love. But it's
- 38:00Speaker 4: nice to know that basically every pro I've talked to,
- 38:02Speaker 4: they're all over this Colts number and again, do you
- 38:05Speaker 4: want to do it?
- 38:05Speaker 3: A teasers?
- 38:06Speaker 5: Go ahead?
- 38:06Speaker 4: But I got no issue taking the plus one and
- 38:08Speaker 4: a half or ticking the moneyline here. I just I
- 38:10Speaker 4: love this matchup with the Colts team, not just offensively.
- 38:13Speaker 4: I think their defense actually gives CJ's bigger problems than
- 38:16Speaker 4: people realize.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You loved it, you put me on to it.
- 38:20Speaker 1: But when it came down to it, Simon, one of
- 38:23Speaker 1: us chose the Giants, one of us chose the Colts.
- 38:27Speaker 1: One of us, by the way, did not fall for
- 38:30Speaker 1: choosing the Tennessee Titans, and neither of us fell for
- 38:34Speaker 1: putting them in at plus four and a half against
- 38:36Speaker 1: the Bears. Into our big balls better of the week,
- 38:39Speaker 1: we went with the Los Angeles Rams as road dogs
- 38:44Speaker 1: against the Detroit Lions plus three and a half.
- 38:47Speaker 2: To me, it came down to this game and the
- 38:49Speaker 2: Jets against the Niners. You felt the Jets was.
- 38:51Speaker 1: A little bit too public, a little bit too on
- 38:53Speaker 1: the nose. You convinced me the Rams were the way
- 38:56Speaker 1: to go.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Did the wise guys agree with us?
- 38:59Speaker 3: Yeah, guys love it and they have the same view
- 39:01Speaker 3: as me.
- 39:02Speaker 4: It's just you're getting Stafford at a great number against
- 39:05Speaker 4: a team that I know they went down and drafted
- 39:08Speaker 4: guys and had the guys of pregency that secondary. I'm
- 39:10Speaker 4: happy to make bet on it to see if they
- 39:12Speaker 4: can improve it. Chad, I mean me and you historically
- 39:14Speaker 4: have done well taking these kind of points with a
- 39:16Speaker 4: good quarterback against the Detroit team that just always has
- 39:19Speaker 4: the back door open.
- 39:20Speaker 3: So to me, it's I don't even know. I'd say
- 39:24Speaker 3: a point and a half a point of.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Value just because Detroit is, you know, like people like
- 39:30Speaker 4: me that are saying they had them as their third
- 39:32Speaker 4: best team in football right now and their model. That's
- 39:35Speaker 4: it's just crazy to think that Detroit has come that far,
- 39:38Speaker 4: that they've drafted this well, and that golf has worked
- 39:41Speaker 4: out this way. I mean, one of my more embarrassing
- 39:43Speaker 4: clips is when I first started here with doing the
- 39:45Speaker 4: show with Chad, I laughed at Jared Goff. I thought
- 39:50Speaker 4: he was gonna be at the league. I think they're
- 39:52Speaker 4: zero for nine, and me and Chad won this insane
- 39:54Speaker 4: money line bet on them to upset the Vikings.
- 39:57Speaker 5: I mean you laughed.
- 39:58Speaker 4: We're like, well, let's enjoy because we'll never another dollar
- 40:01Speaker 4: on Jared Goff's money line, Like he'll be out of
- 40:03Speaker 4: the league this summer because they're going to draft the quarterback.
- 40:05Speaker 4: I mean now he just got paid again. He's gonna
- 40:07Speaker 4: be the highest paid quarterback. So yeah, that was one
- 40:10Speaker 4: of my bigger missues. Like, but what they've done with
- 40:12Speaker 4: him has been incredible. So me and Chad once again
- 40:15Speaker 4: are playing.
- 40:16Speaker 3: The number here.
- 40:17Speaker 4: I still think this will get to three. I just
- 40:19Speaker 4: think the professionals will come in on it. It's actually
- 40:21Speaker 4: come down the juice though, So as a couple of books,
- 40:24Speaker 4: I always paying minus one twenty for the plus three
- 40:26Speaker 4: and a half. Now there's a couple of minus one
- 40:28Speaker 4: tens out there, people on the rams. So clearly money's
- 40:31Speaker 4: coming on Detroit here. But again, not any pro I've
- 40:34Speaker 4: talked to, Like most guys I've talked to, they're just
- 40:36Speaker 4: they're gonna take the points here with Stafford and McVeigh,
- 40:38Speaker 4: like this is a nice spot historically for us to
- 40:40Speaker 4: take these kind of points with this RAMS team.
- 40:43Speaker 2: All right, so that's sharp calls.
