- 0:01Speaker 1: Today is a very special day.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:06Speaker 1: Goodness gracious. Talk about two days that should not be
- 0:09Speaker 1: on the same day. Today is National Sober Day. It's
- 0:12Speaker 1: also National Rosa Tequila Day. All about choices. Those big jawbreakers, gobstoppers.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's National Gobstopper Day. And they call it Eat a
- 0:25Speaker 1: Hoagie Day, but we don't call it that. I think
- 0:27Speaker 1: that's what Philadelphia calls the hoagie. So eat a grinder,
- 0:31Speaker 1: or I call them subs, or heroes. They call them that.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Anyway, have a sandwich. Birthdays today, actress Jessica Brown Finlay.
- 0:38Speaker 1: She played Lady Sybil on Downton Abbey, which my wife
- 0:41Speaker 1: made me watch repeatedly. 37 today. The first Bachelorette winner,
- 0:46Speaker 1: remember that guy, Ryan Sutter, is 52 and still married,
- 0:51Speaker 1: which is awesome. Actress as well as Brad's missus, Kimberly
- 0:57Speaker 1: Williams Paisley, is 55. Pope Leo is 71. Blessings to all.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And an honorable mention to a Korean director. He's done
- 1:08Speaker 1: some great movies, but the name just, I had to
- 1:10Speaker 1: say it. Bong Joon-ho. Bong Ho is having a birthday today.
- 1:15Speaker 1: He's 48. Honorable mention on the country. Ninety two five
- 1:19Speaker 1: morning should have some headlines. What you got weather today?
- 1:24Speaker 3: Well, rain will be gone and then it'll eventually be
- 1:27Speaker 3: mostly sunny, a little breezy highs in the low 70s.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Of course, the rain yesterday. I mean, this way, there
- 1:32Speaker 3: were some times where we had some downpours, but down
- 1:34Speaker 3: towards the shoreline, Stanford had over seven inches of.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Rain in a 24 hour period. So. I know there
- 1:41Speaker 4: was a lot of flooding down in that direction.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It shut down Tweed for a while, for goodness sake.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a friend who was supposed to do
- 1:47Speaker 3: the Surf Town. half marathon yesterday and they canceled it
- 1:51Speaker 3: the night before. Cause it was just, it was insane.
- 1:53Speaker 3: So hope everybody's eye down there. Yukon football lost to
- 1:58Speaker 3: Maryland Saturday, 38 to 14. Their next two games are away.
- 2:04Speaker 3: The next home game will be October 3rd. And when
- 2:08Speaker 3: it comes to the NFL.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Oh, you don't have that one ready to go.
- 2:14Speaker 1: No, I was just going for the UConn one.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Okay, all right.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Giants beat the Cowboys for Sunday night football last night 28-20,
- 2:23Speaker 3: and the Jets earlier in the day beat the Titans 23-10.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And I'm not a Jets fan. Girl, here's a Patriots fan.
- 2:31Speaker 3: But the New York Jets, they put up something great
- 2:33Speaker 3: on their social. They got asked during practice what their
- 2:36Speaker 3: favorite country songs were.
- 2:37Speaker 4: This is some of the responses.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Y'all ever heard of Stella Lefty? No, no, no, no, no.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It's the song that's number one on the list right now.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Three times I'm on the lake.
- 2:50Speaker 2: First and last song, Springsteen.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Over and over again by Nellie and Tim McGraw. If
- 3:04Speaker 1: that counts. If that counts.
- 3:06Speaker 3: What's really great, too, two of them actually, they end
- 3:09Speaker 3: the video with two of them singing Taylor Swift's All
- 3:12Speaker 3: Too Well.
- 3:13Speaker 4: I think it was the 10-minute version. You should watch.
- 3:15Speaker 4: It's up on our Insta, Country92. 5.
- 3:18Speaker 1: There's your headlines here on the Country 92.5 morning show.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Quick stop for traffic. Play some tunes. Give you some
- 3:25Speaker 1: fascinating facts. Just a mishmash today, including the old English
- 3:29Speaker 1: job of knocker upper. What did the knocker upper do?
- 3:34Speaker 1: I will tell you coming up in 15 minutes here
- 3:36Speaker 1: at Country 92.5. Happy Monday. Thanks for waking up with us.
- 3:42Speaker 1: That's still left here. Part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival
- 3:46Speaker 1: this Friday and Saturday on Disney Plus and Hulu. See,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I listen every now and then. My name's Damon. That's
- 3:53Speaker 1: Amanda Jo. It's time for today's fascinating facts. Just some
- 3:57Speaker 1: random stuff. Did you know the inventor of Christ Control,
- 4:01Speaker 1: Cruise Control? I like Christ Control. The inventor of Cruise
- 4:05Speaker 1: Control was blind. Never got to test it himself. Or
- 4:09Speaker 1: if he did, he scared the hell out of his passengers. Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 1: New study found that the higher level of celebrity worship
- 4:17Speaker 1: is associated with lower cognitive performance. So those people who
- 4:20Speaker 1: are really obsessed with celebrities. Not shocked.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Not shocked. And the last one before alarm clocks were affordable,
- 4:30Speaker 1: people would hire human beings called knocker uppers who would
- 4:35Speaker 1: come and tap on their windows to awaken them.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Oh, that means something totally different these days.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah. You get knocked up nowadays. It's not waking you up.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Well, remember, like you could, well, do they still do
- 4:45Speaker 4: this if you go to a hotel, wake up calls?
- 4:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a precursor, obviously.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you can ask for them to call your room.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I think I found a side hustle. I need money anyway, man.
- 4:57Speaker 1: If I just went around, I'm up early anyway.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Time to get up.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Time to get up.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Yeah, no, thank you.
- 5:03Speaker 1: There you go. Those are today's fascinating facts. Up next,
- 5:07Speaker 1: we got to get into the scoop.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Well, we got to talk about what went down on
- 5:11Speaker 3: Saturday night and.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Something big our way comes tomorrow.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Dum, dum, dum. Details in 15 minutes here on the
- 5:21Speaker 1: Country 92.5 Morning Show. It is 6.10. Let's go. He
- 5:25Speaker 1: was so good Saturday night. He puts on a darn good.
- 5:28Speaker 1: He's a good kid, and he puts on a really
- 5:30Speaker 1: good show.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yes, he does.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Chase Matthew, who was with Jason Aldean Saturday at the Meadows.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It is time for The Scoop, sponsored by Monaco. Ford 623.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Here's the gal who was on site to report what
- 5:45Speaker 1: she saw, Amanda Jo.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Well, if you want to watch Chase Matthew rip into
- 5:49Speaker 3: that song, we've got that clip up on our Instacountry 92.5,
- 5:51Speaker 3: but also. For the OG Jason Aldean fans, it used
- 5:58Speaker 3: to be he would, you know, save a particular song
- 6:00Speaker 3: to the end. But, you know, he's got 32 number one.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So he's he switched it up and he opened.
- 6:06Speaker 4: The sold out show with Hicktown.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It's so good. What a great way to start.
- 6:11Speaker 4: The redhead losing her marbles in the pit. That was me.
- 6:14Speaker 4: I was that girl.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Did you see any of the footage, though, after the
- 6:18Speaker 3: show that was on social?
- 6:21Speaker 4: I mean, it got wild up on the lawn.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I saw some people actually had climbed onto the roof
- 6:27Speaker 3: of one of the beer huts up there.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it was.
- 6:30Speaker 1: It was a crowd, man. I mean, that sold out crowd,
- 6:33Speaker 1: and they were imbibing, and I was waiting for stuff
- 6:36Speaker 1: to break off. I saw a lot of ambulancias and
- 6:39Speaker 1: police cars.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. People got down in Hicktown.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Overall, a very well-behaved crowd.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Yeah. And hey, sorry to the Hartford officer who was
- 6:49Speaker 3: directing traffic when both Damon and I got there because
- 6:51Speaker 3: we got into the wrong lane and he was mad
- 6:53Speaker 3: at us. And we didn't mean to. We didn't mean
- 6:55Speaker 3: to do that. Honestly, it said like premier VIP law.
- 6:58Speaker 3: And I was following that sign. And then when I
- 7:00Speaker 3: realized I was supposed to be over there, it was
- 7:01Speaker 3: too late.
- 7:02Speaker 4: And I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 7:04Speaker 1: He tore me up. And I was like, I apologize.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm an idiot. I'm sorry.
- 7:09Speaker 4: And he's probably slightly nicer to me. But, you know, anyways.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And I have a very good feeling a big announcement
- 7:15Speaker 3: is going to be made tomorrow. Gillette posted over the weekend,
- 7:20Speaker 3: open invite to the Vibe Room delivered Tuesday. And there
- 7:26Speaker 3: is a date on there, August 28th. So if you
- 7:29Speaker 3: scroll through the comments, you're going to see. People are
- 7:34Speaker 3: assuming it's a Kenny Chesney announcement. And based on that date,
- 7:38Speaker 3: if he's going to, you know, he's got a song,
- 7:40Speaker 3: he's got an album coming out on the 25th.
- 7:43Speaker 4: What's left? What's left? A tour. And he always ends
- 7:45Speaker 4: it the end of August at Gillette. So we will
- 7:48Speaker 4: find out for sure.
- 7:49Speaker 1: But you tend to concur.
- 7:51Speaker 4: I tend to concur. We will find out for sure tomorrow.
- 7:54Speaker 1: All right. There you go. That's today's scoop. Sponsored by
- 7:58Speaker 1: Monaco Ford and the Country 92.5 Morning Show. Feel good today.
- 8:03Speaker 1: A local charity that really did it up with their
- 8:07Speaker 1: 9-11 goal. I want to tell you all about it.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Coming up next on the Country 92.5 Morning Show. They were, wow, unbelievable.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Today's feel good story. Huge props to Connecticut Food Share.
- 8:23Speaker 1: On September 11th, as part of the 911day. org' s call to
- 8:26Speaker 1: action and service, they rolled past their goal of 250,000
- 8:31Speaker 1: meals and managed to pack up 366,000 meals for those
- 8:38Speaker 1: in need. All thanks to 1,300 volunteers. They were in
- 8:42Speaker 1: People's Bank Arena and a place called the Red Line
- 8:45Speaker 1: Room in Bridgeport. I read on their Instagram, they said
- 8:48Speaker 1: this was the perfect showcase of what's possible when our
- 8:51Speaker 1: community comes together. And wow, were they right. So fantastic job.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Fantastic job. There you go. That's today's feel good story.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Up next, got to hit the headlines again, Amanda Jo.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You got to.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Well, I want to get a little spooky because October,
- 9:10Speaker 3: I'm not wishing September away, but dang. There's some cool
- 9:15Speaker 3: stuff that I've seen popping up in Connecticut already that
- 9:17Speaker 3: I'm like, I got to sign up for this.
- 9:18Speaker 1: All right. We'll talk next year on the Country 92.5
- 9:22Speaker 1: Morning Show. Prepare. Spooky. Monday, September 14th, 646. The Morning Show.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'm Damon. Here's Amanda Jo. Hitting the headlines and whatnot.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Weather today, mostly sunny, a little breezy with highs in
- 9:37Speaker 3: the low 70s. I know a lot of people yesterday,
- 9:39Speaker 3: especially on the shoreline, a lot of rain.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Stanford got over 7 inches in 24 hours.
- 9:44Speaker 1: That's crazy. I saw it this morning and Tweed Airport
- 9:47Speaker 1: got flooded. I'm like, wow, they got launched.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Dang.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Big E FYI kicks off on Friday. Connecticut Day will
- 9:55Speaker 3: be Wednesday the 23rd.
- 9:57Speaker 4: I'm already going. I got to I got to text
- 9:58Speaker 4: my girls.
- 10:00Speaker 1: To go eat?
- 10:01Speaker 3: And Practical Magic 2 debuted at the box office over
- 10:04Speaker 3: the weekend, though not as much money as they thought.
- 10:07Speaker 4: It was going to bring in.
- 10:08Speaker 3: $ 30 million, which is still good for a number one debut,
- 10:11Speaker 3: but awesome. Honestly, I thought initially the movie wasn't supposed
- 10:14Speaker 3: to come out till a little bit later in September.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So did I. I saw that pop up and I thought, well, geez,
- 10:19Speaker 1: Amanda Jo would have been all over that.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 3: And I think they got a little, you know, excited
- 10:23Speaker 3: and moved it up. And I mean, I'm going to
- 10:26Speaker 3: go just not yet. But with all that excitement, I
- 10:30Speaker 3: saw a lot of spooky things are happening in Connecticut.
- 10:33Speaker 3: You don't even know what's coming because this October I'm
- 10:36Speaker 3: going to get real spooky on YouTube. You don't even know.
- 10:39Speaker 3: You don't even know. Haunted stuff is my favorite. October
- 10:43Speaker 3: is my favorite time of year.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And I feel like we haven't done it justice. But
- 10:45Speaker 4: now that I've been in Connecticut long enough, I know
- 10:48Speaker 4: what to do.
- 10:48Speaker 1: She's fired up.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Mark Twain House already doing their ghost tours Fridays and
- 10:55Speaker 3: Saturdays at the end of this month, the 25th and
- 10:57Speaker 3: the 26th and Fridays and Saturdays in October.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Those are going to fill up quick. So if you're
- 11:01Speaker 4: going to get in on that, get in on it.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And then I saw in Simsbury, the Bell and Raven,
- 11:08Speaker 3: they're going to be doing haunted strolls.
- 11:11Speaker 1: So.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Spine-tingling stories of legends.
- 11:14Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff to do in this state, man.
- 11:16Speaker 1: They really embrace it.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Well, now I'm embracing it because I know better.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Fantastic.
- 11:21Speaker 4: So be ready for what comes this way in October.
- 11:24Speaker 1: The spooky is on the way, and Amanda Jo is
- 11:27Speaker 1: on board. Up for grabs tickets to see Brantley Gilbert
- 11:32Speaker 1: coming Friday, September 25th, to Mohican Sun. Here's the question.
- 11:38Speaker 1: According to a new study, you'll save an average of
- 11:40Speaker 1: 19% on your grocery bill if you simply do what
- 11:44Speaker 1: when you're at the store? One more time. All right.
- 11:48Speaker 1: A new study says you'll save an average of 19%
- 11:51Speaker 1: on your grocery bill if you do what at the store?
- 11:55Speaker 4: I don't understand this one. I'm not going to lie.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Nor do I. I did look up the methodology behind it.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I kind of get it, but we need an answer. 860-249-9250.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Give us a buzz and the right answer, and you're
- 12:07Speaker 1: going to see Brantley Gilbert at Mohican Sun for free.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Country 92.5. Happy Monday. Who's this? Hey, good morning. This
- 12:15Speaker 1: is Sean. Sean, how was your weekend, brother?
- 12:18Speaker 3: It was fantastic.
- 12:19Speaker 1: How about you guys? I think we can all say
- 12:21Speaker 1: that we had a fantastic weekend, brother. That's glorious. I
- 12:24Speaker 1: love that. Let's see how Monday's going to turn out
- 12:26Speaker 1: for you. Apparently, a new study says you will save
- 12:30Speaker 1: an average of 19% on your grocery bill if you
- 12:33Speaker 1: do what when you're at the store?
- 12:35Speaker 4: Eat or drink something beforehand.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You know what? That's a great answer. I always heard
- 12:39Speaker 1: never go there hungry, but that is not the case
- 12:42Speaker 1: this time, brother. Always a pleasure to talk to you.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Glad you had a great weekend and you feel free
- 12:47Speaker 1: to call back. Here's Amanda Jo with a clue.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Well, I always have a paper list in my hand,
- 12:53Speaker 3: so this isn't a problem for me.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Does that help you? Can you figure it out? 39025. Happy,
- 12:59Speaker 1: happy Monday. Who's this? Hi, is it? Let's see. No way. Ho, ho, ho, ho.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Pleasantries first.
- 13:08Speaker 1: What's your name? I'm Darcy. Darcy, now we can get
- 13:13Speaker 1: to the stuff. Sending you to see Brantley Gilbert at
- 13:16Speaker 1: Mohican Sun. This new study, Darcy, says you'll save an
- 13:19Speaker 1: average of 19% on your grocery bill if you do
- 13:23Speaker 1: what at the store? Sean got through first. He said
- 13:26Speaker 1: eat or drink a little something. That's a great answer.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Wasn't right, though, so here was Amanda Jo's clue.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I mean, the only thing I keep in my hand
- 13:35Speaker 3: is a paper list with a pen so does.
- 13:39Speaker 1: That help you uh put down your cell phone.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah boom i don't i don't do you shop with
- 13:48Speaker 2: your cell phone out i mean i've got a legit
- 13:50Speaker 2: paper list so i don't have you know a free
- 13:53Speaker 2: hand for for my.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Cell phone actually i'm in stafford springs and we have
- 13:58Speaker 3: no service at our local big wise.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Not a problem for you then See, so you're not distracted.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Now I'm thinking I'm going to start watching people while
- 14:07Speaker 3: I'm in the grocery store today.
- 14:08Speaker 1: They say you're scrolling, you're not paying attention to what
- 14:10Speaker 1: you're buying, or you're using the phone to enhance your
- 14:12Speaker 1: shopping trip and you buy more than you need. That's
- 14:15Speaker 1: the methodology, but here's the deal. Brantley Gilbert is coming
- 14:19Speaker 1: to Mohegan Sun Friday, September 25th, and you're going for free. Awesome.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm so excited. Thanks, guys. Happy Monday.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Happy Monday.
- 14:28Speaker 1: We'll be right back to talk to you, okay? Awesome. Thanks.
- 14:31Speaker 2: You're welcome.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Yeah, now I'm really, like, when I go to the
- 14:34Speaker 3: grocery store later, I'm just going to watch people and
- 14:36Speaker 3: see how many of them have their cell phones out.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Observe. See if there's something to it. Because I was
- 14:40Speaker 1: kind of confused myself.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Yeah, like, I'm in the zone, but I only have
- 14:45Speaker 3: two free hands.
- 14:46Speaker 4: One's for grabbing the goods. The other's for holding my
- 14:48Speaker 4: paper list.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Coming up next, let's talk weekends. Did you do anything fun?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Because we certainly did. We'll talk about it next here
- 14:56Speaker 1: on Country 92.5. My name's Damon. That's Amanda Jo, hoping
- 14:59Speaker 1: that you had a delightful weekend. We certainly had all
- 15:04Speaker 1: the good times we could possibly have on Saturday night,
- 15:07Speaker 1: even though it started out with both of us getting
- 15:08Speaker 1: chewed out by a Hartford cop.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Look, he was doing his job. I don't want to
- 15:12Speaker 3: say chewed out because... Oh, I got chewed out. I mean,
- 15:15Speaker 3: he wasn't pleased with me, and I understand why, but
- 15:17Speaker 3: I was following the signs that were there before I
- 15:21Speaker 3: got to the turn.
- 15:22Speaker 4: But here's the thing.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I don't want to say chewed us out in a
- 15:25Speaker 3: negative way because he was doing his job, and the
- 15:28Speaker 3: fact of the matter is it was a sold-out show,
- 15:31Speaker 3: so I don't think they were fully... prepared at that
- 15:34Speaker 3: moment for how many people were trying to get there
- 15:36Speaker 3: early so we were in the wrong lane we had
- 15:39Speaker 3: to take a we have to take a certain turn
- 15:41Speaker 3: anyway it was fine and he was very nice because
- 15:43Speaker 3: he explained to me he's like this is what's gonna
- 15:46Speaker 3: happen now everybody's gonna cram up behind you.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Yeah and i was like i'm sorry.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I got a line of people behind i.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Was like i'm so sorry i'm not trying to be
- 15:55Speaker 3: a Fill in the blank there.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I was like, appreciate you.
- 15:58Speaker 3: So to that cop, if you're listening and you know
- 16:01Speaker 3: we're talking about you, I appreciate you.
- 16:04Speaker 4: And again, we're both sorry.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yes, we are. We're idiots.
- 16:08Speaker 4: We're not idiots. It's just there was a lot of people.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Anyway. But I brought the wife and kids out. You know,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. Just to watch them have such
