Transcript
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I know you're watching Earl Meets World, and if you're not, you should be.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I've already binged the entire season, and now I'm coming back to recap episode by episode.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: So you'll want to follow along because I'm gonna be covering all things Earl Meets World.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: So my friend Debbie is here with me because we've both binged the entire season already of Earl Meets World, and we're gonna talk about everything, and we can't wait to hear what you guys think.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: So the season starts off with Alex moving out of Braxton's house, which was very emotional and everything.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: What do you think?
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: Can we talk about having to drive that moving truck?
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, that was hilarious! Like, I can't even imagine it's bad enough that you gotta go over there and move out and you're upset about it, and you're trying to drive that truck and drive even though it's a little bit.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's crazy.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: And like she said, it really was a lot harder on her than she thought it would be.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: And I think as you go through the episode and you see how the family is also like Team Braxton.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Like, have you been there before?
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Did you ever break up with someone and your family still really likes them and it's really hard?
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: Yes, I had to give my husband an ultimatum when we were dating that either you're gonna date me or date my family because there's gotta be separation there.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: So when it comes to her saying that she didn't want to get married at 25, I can totally relate to that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Like I did not get married till later, and I actually think it's pretty mature of her that I think she really does love him, but she saw some stuff going on in the relationship.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: She recognized it early.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So I'm curious what you guys think of that.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Is she gonna regret it?
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Is she gonna want to go back?
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: So that's something that they really go through in the first episode.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: So, what about the family members?
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: What do we think of all the different family members?
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: There's so much, so much with the family.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: So, who should we start?
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Her friend and her best friend.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: Her best friend helps her.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Sally helps her go move everything out.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: And Sally seems like she's a really level-headed, for the most part, um, good friend that's just gonna be supportive no matter what.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: And it is cool that even with her success, that she's got this friend that she's been friends with since before she became Yes.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: She knew her before and she's stuck by her.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: I thought it was really cute that she's like, Oh, I'm the Nepo friend.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: It was was kind of cute, and they do seem to have a really good, good relationship.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: So, how about the mom?
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: We finally see the mom when the girls are at Paris Fashion Week and they FaceTime her.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: And that's when we find out that she's been battling cancer and all of this stuff, but you get this sense that they have a really great relationship with her.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: That's when they touch on the fact that the parents did get divorced when they were younger.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: So, how did you feel when you saw her for the first time?
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: First of all, she's beautiful.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Yes, she is beautiful.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: The girls got some really good genes because both girls are absolutely beautiful as well.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: Um, and I think seeing mom the first time, she just seems so down-to-earth and grounded.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: And she's been through a lot.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: And she is rock solid for her girls.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: And she just seems so genuine.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And then later, when we see that they can all actually get together in the same room and do stuff, that's just, it's pretty, that's pretty amazing.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: So what do we think?
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: We talked about mom.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: So what do we think of TJ, the dadager?
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: What do you think of the dad?
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of controversy and split opinions about him.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: There's a lot to do with dad.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And Ashley, dad.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: So mom Ashley.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Um, first of all, I can't get past Ashley's lip flip.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: It's bad.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: It is really bad.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: It is really a lot.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Because she's pretty.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: She's really pretty.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: But it's a lot.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Unnatural with that lip flip.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: It's pretty extreme.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It's pretty extreme.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Sorry, Ashley.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: But you could go a little more.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: We love you, but you know, you're gorgeous.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: You don't need so much.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Uh TJ, gosh, we could really do a full episode on TJ.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Oh my God.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: So they really don't waste any time in the first episode going right in and letting you know if you don't already know, that TJ and Ashley met having an affair when he was still married to Alyssa.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So that's crazy.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And they talk about how it ended up on the New York Post.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: And it's funny because Alyssa says that he literally said something to her about, oh, you look really good on the New York Post.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: And she's like, I don't want that's not when I want to be known as it's not.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: It's not like, can you imagine?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: No, no, it'd be awful.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: So it's crazy because but we do know now that obviously they ended up staying together and they've got these three kids together, but but they don't waste any time getting right into that.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: So who do you think uh pushed the idea of the show to begin with?
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: That's a good question.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: Was that an Alex idea, TJ?
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: I feel like it was Ashley because I think Ashley wanted to be internet famous.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: And I think she's loving all the attention coming from all of this.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: I did see something.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: I saw like a chart online where I think that behind that Ashley is the next one behind Alex and Ashton as far as number of followers and all that.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: So I think you're right.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: I think she's really trying to have that presence.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Um and they touch on in in multiple episodes that she's making these TikTok videos.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: And for her role as a stepmom per se, I think some of them probably are not necessarily appropriate for just where she's at in life.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: So that'll be interesting.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: We definitely need to watch that.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Okay, let's talk about the younger half siblings.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Um, one thing is this is part of the place where you just automatically start making the Kardashian reference.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, the whole show is so giving Kardashians.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Like, this is definitely probably like the new Gen Z modern day version of Kardashians.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: And these siblings are just adorable, right?
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: They are, darling, all of them, all three of them.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Um, my favorite is Thomas.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Me too! Right, he is the Franco star.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: He's just so sweet.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: He's so cute and he's funny.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Like when he gets the chance, when he's in his little dino dead and he makes his comments.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: He's he's a fun kid.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: He is so cute.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: So it'll be interesting because they're still young and they already start to talk about their social media and how you know, and and that whole thing.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: It's like you're rewatching Kylie and Kendall when they were growing up.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Because now these kids, if this show takes off, which I think it's going to, and they have episodes, they're gonna be like the jenners were like like you said, like like Kendall and Kylie, where they're gonna grow up with this.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about the relationship that the girls had with Ashley, the stepmom when she first came into their lives.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: That must have been hard.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: Really, especially under the circumstances that she came into their lives under.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: And they were what, teenagers?
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: They were young.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: They were really young, and she was really young.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: In a later episode, they talk about how I think that Ashley was only like 22 or 23.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: She was literally the same age they are the age they are now.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: And they were putting toothpaste in her shoes.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: All sorts of stuff.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: They were mean.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: They were really mean to her.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: But that must have been hard because they said they didn't really know exactly the circumstance, but they had to know there was some circumstance.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: They just knew that mom and dad weren't together anymore and dad had this new girlfriend.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: And how about when Ashton admits that she like unfollowed Ashley on TikTok after that cringy video of her and the car getting on top of TJ?
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: That is crazy.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: Can you imagine if that was your parents?
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: I think my kids would unfollow me.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Be like, unfollow.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: So another thing that they, on top of the affair, that they kind of touch on right off the bat is Alex Cooper and all the drama that surrounds Alex Cooper.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: And it's interesting because they bring it up in the first episode, and then the whole season kind of builds up to where we learn what the truth is behind everything at the end.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that part has really been so interesting to me because I honestly didn't know that much about either of them.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: I don't really watch Alex Cooper.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Obviously, I knew who she was.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: I knew about the her podcast, but I've never really listened to it.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: I had listened to Alex Earl with my daughters.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: So this was probably one of the most shocking things to me that we're definitely going to get into more later because I have a definite opinion about Alexa Cooper now.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: I think you probably do too.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: I have an absolute definite opinion.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: And the proper way to treat people.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's all it's awful.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: So that was definitely uh a really big part of the first episode was starting to get into that.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Um so the other thing is this Tom Brady thing, which is crazy to me.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Because obviously we all love Tom Brady, but come on.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: We do.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: But I was also watching another podcast um about when she first started being seen in public with Tom Brady, and they were like, You go, girl, you're single, go out there and have some fun for a minute.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: And if it's Tom Brady, hey, he he's the one that scored by landing you.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, absolutely.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Because when you think about it, I guess it's hard because being a mom of girls that aren't that much younger than her, and then seeing, I mean, of course, hey, who doesn't love Tom Brady?
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, whatever.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: He's amazing.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: But he is 49 years old.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: I think that his son that he has with Brittany Moynihan is at least in his 20s.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Oh I'm trying to think.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: He might have even already he or he might he might be Sydney's age, he might be like a junior in college, he might be my daughter.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: But let's be honest, was he really in it for a relationship or was it just fun for both of them?
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, probably.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Obviously, Tom Brady can probably date almost anybody that he that he wants to, and it's just a fact that he probably doesn't want to date somebody his own age, even though there's a lot of great looking 49-year-old women, but I I don't blame him.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: But as a mom, it's kind of gross to me.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: It is kind of gross.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: I can't imagine Yeah, like for her.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Because here's the thing you think of Braxton, he's so cute, like he's only 30, and she's already saying, like, obviously, that situation, I think Braxton sounds like he's ready to get married and settle down, and she's not sure about that.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Um, but he's definitely age appropriate for her.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Like, that's no big deal.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Like, even a 10 to 15 year age, but when you get like literally, he's like twice her age.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Tom Brady's twice her age.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: I know he looks great, he doesn't look, but he could totally be her dad.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Like when you get into that, you could be my dad situation.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: How old is TJ?
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: They might be close to the same age.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, he might.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: We need to find that out.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: How old is TJ?
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we gotta get to the bottom of that one.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because that exactly, like that, that's that's probably that's probably true.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Because he could definitely be her her dad, and his oldest son is probably very close to her age.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: That's really gross.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: I don't like that.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: But TJ and Ashley are not close in age.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: There's a big age gap there, too.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Well, but I don't think they're as different because they've been together now like 17, is it 17 years or something?
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Like I think she's actually eight or something like that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: And that's when Tatum and Blight were born.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: So 18 years.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: So they um, and that's our daughters, Tatum Blight, that are in college now.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: So they might only they might not be that big an age difference.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Maybe like 10 years or something, 10, 15, that's not that's not bad at all.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm trying to think about it.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: I can't talk.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying nine years younger than my husband.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Your husband's lucky, he has a nice younger, younger wife.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, and I told you when uh when my husband first met you, he thought you were even younger because you look so young anyway.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: But you guys don't look.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: But your husband's also very youthful.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: I'm older than my husband.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: That Botox too.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you don't have any wrinkles.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: I, on the other hand, have none for like three years, so my I'm way too much movement and wrinkles.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Okay, so episode one definitely had me hooked.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Like I said, my 20-year-old daughter told me to watch the show, and now I'm completely obsessed with it.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: So I'm glad that you guys are here with us following along as we recap every single episode.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: So, what did you think?
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: I loved it, and I love that none of it really feels scripted.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: I'm sure parts of it, they want them to cover on certain issues and everything, but it just feels so raw and just open.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: You get to know who they are, who they really are.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Yes, and you fall in love with this whole family.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Like you go there thinking it's gonna be mostly about Alex, and obviously it's centered around her, but it's crazy how you just fall in love with the entire family.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: So it's really exciting.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: I'm glad you're on this journey with us.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Can't wait to come back and recap episode two.
