- 0:00Speaker 1: Top five defenses coming into the NFL, like right now.
- 0:04Speaker 1: At number five, I'm going to take the Los Angeles Rams.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Is that because of Miles Garrett? That was strictly because
- 0:12Speaker 1: of the Miles Garrett addition and they added McDuffie.
- 0:14Speaker 2: McDuffie's huge. I don't think people understand how.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Talented he is. McDuffie with a pass rush is one
- 0:20Speaker 1: of the best quarterbacks, cornerbacks in the league. You've seen
- 0:23Speaker 1: it when they had a healthy pass rush back when
- 0:24Speaker 1: they won Super Bowls with Holmes. I mean, last year
- 0:27Speaker 1: they were basing the His production off of, they had
- 0:32Speaker 1: very lack of success rushing the quarterback last year, Kansas City.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You cannot win football games without rushing the quarterback.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Doing what you do. And they got the guy.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they got the guy. They got the guy. They
- 0:43Speaker 1: got the guy that's going to get the ball out
- 0:45Speaker 1: in 2.7 seconds. You got to. Or double team, chip, whatever,
- 0:48Speaker 1: but he's still coming. They got the guy. And if
- 0:50Speaker 1: they add the other guy, the guy that we all know,
- 0:53Speaker 1: the what, nine-time first-team All-Pro? Hello. Hello. Holy crap. I'm
- 0:57Speaker 1: going to go with five.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So who we got with four?
- 1:00Speaker 1: At number four, man, I'm going to go with the
- 1:06Speaker 1: New England Patriots.
- 1:08Speaker 2: What about the New England Patriots has fourth best defense
- 1:11Speaker 2: in the NFL?
- 1:12Speaker 1: They went to the Super Bowl, and they got to
- 1:14Speaker 1: the Super Bowl off a great defense. Going through that run,
- 1:17Speaker 1: even though they didn't have Bo Nix, even though they
- 1:22Speaker 1: could say the Texans' offense was bad, They held their
- 1:27Speaker 1: end of the bargain to get to the Super Bowl.
- 1:29Speaker 2: You got the weather game in Denver, right, against Jared Stidham,
- 1:33Speaker 2: who I love Stidham. And then Houston Tech. That was
- 1:36Speaker 2: probably the worst game CJ's played. You know, it probably
- 1:41Speaker 2: happens at your position, too. Like, when one thing goes bad,
- 1:43Speaker 2: it kind of starts to snowball. You start trying to
- 1:45Speaker 2: make plays. They just got in one of those situations.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I don't think that'll ever happen again for CJ. I
- 1:50Speaker 2: don't see this. They don't have a dominant. Like, you
- 1:52Speaker 2: were talking about dominant pass rush. I don't see that
- 1:54Speaker 2: from the New England Patriots.
- 1:56Speaker 1: But their interior, which we've seen guys, they're saying, we
- 1:59Speaker 1: don't need the rushers. We're going to do it interiorly.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Christian Balmore, Milton Williams, guys that they paid and they
- 2:05Speaker 1: got in that program that can create the pressure, that
- 2:08Speaker 1: interior pressure. People are like, if we can't get a
- 2:11Speaker 1: top-edge guy, we're going to double up interior. We've been
- 2:13Speaker 1: seeing that. The Dallas Cowboys did it. Kenny Clark, Quentin Williams, Keenan.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Tennessee Titans did it. They said, we can't get a
- 2:20Speaker 1: dominant edge rusher. They went and got John Franklin Myers.
- 2:23Speaker 1: We're seeing them more in the National Football League where
- 2:26Speaker 1: if we can't get that rusher, we're going interior. And
- 2:28Speaker 1: they got the DBs to do it.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Gonzalez is a fool. I think he's one of
- 2:33Speaker 2: them ones.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He is. He is. He's the top three corner. So
- 2:36Speaker 1: when you add their factors and just how they play
- 2:39Speaker 1: down that stretch, you kind of say, you know, regardless,
- 2:44Speaker 1: they have to be in the top five. Just because
- 2:45Speaker 1: even though the weather game, whatever, CJ's bad game, but
- 2:50Speaker 1: they still did their end of the bargain and they
- 2:52Speaker 1: were what they won three games like they went 15
- 2:55Speaker 1: and three last year Yeah, so you're not doing that
- 2:59Speaker 1: if you don't have a great defense. Okay who we
- 3:01Speaker 1: got at three At number three. I'm gonna go with
- 3:04Speaker 1: my Green Bay Packers.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Oh Man, oh man, that's saying a lot. Yeah, what
- 3:11Speaker 2: about that? What about your team right now says top
- 3:14Speaker 2: three defense in the NFL?
- 3:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna say We are going to be a pressure unit,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and we have so many players that people don't even
- 3:23Speaker 1: know about that they're going to know about. I'm going
- 3:25Speaker 1: to say we have a top three, top two, three,
- 3:29Speaker 1: maybe one safety unit.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Oh, McKinney a fool.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And Evan Williams. People sleep on Evan. I think Evan
- 3:35Speaker 1: Williams is going to be a Pro Bowl player this year.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Who are we not thinking about on this Green Bay
- 3:40Speaker 2: Packers defense right now who folks are going to know
- 3:42Speaker 2: their name at the end of the season?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yo, we're not thinking about Cisse, the guy we just drafted. Okay. Crazy.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He's a baller. He's a big baller. They're not talking
- 3:50Speaker 1: about Lucas Van Ness or Baron Sorrell. They're not talking
- 3:54Speaker 1: about the fact that we added Javon Hargrave and another
- 3:58Speaker 1: young and heavy D is going to be playing Devontae White.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He got hurt last year. He was hurt most of
- 4:02Speaker 1: the year last year. Still had, what, five sacks? And
- 4:07Speaker 1: we got a young kid, Warren Brinson.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I think what's going to matter for the Green Bay
- 4:12Speaker 2: Packers defense is your offense. How many points is your
- 4:16Speaker 2: offense going to be able to score to put teams
- 4:18Speaker 2: in position where they've got to pass and where you
- 4:20Speaker 2: can take over the game?
- 4:22Speaker 1: And I think that's even going to be even more
- 4:24Speaker 1: special because our offense is looking crazy. Jordan Love, and
- 4:27Speaker 1: we're going to get into Jordan Love, but how he's
- 4:32Speaker 1: been performing, it's like one thing to watch on game
- 4:35Speaker 1: day or you watching that guy and I'm like, he's dying.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Jordan Love has been looking like the most ridiculous quarterback
- 4:43Speaker 1: in the NFL Every practice.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I know we got to talk about Jordan later, so
- 4:48Speaker 2: I ain't going to get into Jordan, but I agree.
- 4:51Speaker 1: He's just ridiculous, bro. And he does it effortlessly. It's
- 4:56Speaker 1: so amazing to watch him on the floor, and I
- 4:59Speaker 1: just can't wait to watch them perform. I just can't wait.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Let's get into number two. Who you got second best defense?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yep. And number two, I'm going to have to go
- 5:10Speaker 1: with the Denver Broncos.
- 5:12Speaker 2: That's a solid group.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah. You just can't deny them. The back end is elite.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You know, Hufunga, Sertain, Moss. I mean, you know, they're
- 5:23Speaker 1: just a solid group. And the front, it's just like
- 5:26Speaker 1: you don't miss no one. You know, Roach, Zach Allen,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Nick Bonito, Jonathan Cooper. And they just play so well together. Like,
- 5:36Speaker 1: they're a united front. And even though they lost in
- 5:38Speaker 1: the playoffs, like this team, Should have and could have
- 5:41Speaker 1: been in the Super Bowl if Bo Nix was healthy.
- 5:43Speaker 1: The thing about them that makes them so difficult is
- 5:45Speaker 1: they can play a lot of too high and stop
- 5:47Speaker 1: the run. They just take away a lot of things
- 5:49Speaker 1: from you without having to bring another safety in the box. Structurally,
- 5:54Speaker 1: they make it really, really difficult on offense. And then obviously,
- 5:57Speaker 1: number one, there's literally nothing you can do is the
- 6:02Speaker 1: Houston Texans defense.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Houston Texans, amazing defense. We're going to get in Houston Texans.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I got to ask you about a team you miss.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Who did I miss?
- 6:14Speaker 2: The Seattle Seahawks. The Seattle Seahawks might be the best
- 6:18Speaker 2: defense in the NFL. They may be the best defense
- 6:21Speaker 2: in the NFL. The things that they do to you,
- 6:24Speaker 2: the pressures that they create, the best player on that defense, well,
- 6:28Speaker 2: one of the best players on that defense, Nick, coming
- 6:31Speaker 2: out on the nickel. He can play the pass. He
- 6:34Speaker 2: can play the run. He's damn near the most impressive
- 6:37Speaker 2: player on the field every time he's out there.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yo, you so right. You so right. Oh, my God.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I definitely did miss Seattle. Somebody has to go.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I think you got to go there, too. And I
- 6:52Speaker 2: think everybody else gets pushed up a notch.
- 6:56Speaker 1: You're not wrong. You're not wrong. I can't even lie.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You're not wrong. I definitely did forget about Seattle. I
- 7:02Speaker 1: wouldn't put them two, though.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I'd rather bump them to four and throw the– Patriots.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Patriots the five? All right, we'll look at that. No,
- 7:12Speaker 1: Patriots the six.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Patriots the six. Yeah. Rams the five.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 2: All right, but tell me what makes this Texas defense
- 7:18Speaker 2: so difficult to play against.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You can't play max protection the whole time because they
- 7:22Speaker 1: get pressure interiorly with Mike Hall, and they had the
- 7:28Speaker 1: young cat that was rushing really good. And then on
- 7:31Speaker 1: the edges, you have two top five rushers, Will Anderson
- 7:34Speaker 1: and Daniel Hunter. Daniil Hunter doesn't get enough credit. I mean,
- 7:37Speaker 1: we all talk about Will Anderson because he is a
- 7:39Speaker 1: hell raiser, but Daniil Hunter is impressive. Daniil Hunter to
- 7:43Speaker 1: me is literally the most underrated rusher of our generation.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I don't know why. Oof. I don't know why. He
- 7:51Speaker 1: is literally like, if you watch his past, he probably
- 7:56Speaker 1: has the most toolbox out of any of us, like
- 7:59Speaker 1: from the edge position.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But when you say that, right? Because I don't know D.N.
- 8:03Speaker 2: like that.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 2: What does that look like to you? Like, what is
- 8:05Speaker 2: he doing?
- 8:06Speaker 1: He can do anything. He could beat you with speed.
- 8:11Speaker 1: He could beat you with power. He could beat you
- 8:12Speaker 1: with spins. Bro, I seen him do a chop, chop, cross,
- 8:17Speaker 1: spin move on Panay Suau, bro.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Chop, cross, and then he spun back on.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yes. He does unusual behaviors. Like, it don't matter who
- 8:28Speaker 1: he goes against. Like, it's hard to get his number, bro.
- 8:31Speaker 1: And it's like, I'll never forget, I think Houston came
- 8:34Speaker 1: to play Dallas like three years ago, two years before last,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and he had a quiet first half. Second half, when
- 8:43Speaker 1: we had to throw that ball, sack, sack, sack. He
- 8:47Speaker 1: had three sacks in the second half. He was just
- 8:49Speaker 1: so elite to me, and I think that's why you
- 8:53Speaker 1: see Will's progression since he's gotten there, gotten so much
- 8:57Speaker 1: better and higher because He actually had that veteran. People
- 9:00Speaker 1: miss out on so much veteran presence in the National
- 9:04Speaker 1: Football League. Like, it's not even funny. Like, people are like, oh,
- 9:08Speaker 1: he's just not a good player. No, he just didn't
- 9:10Speaker 1: have good bets around him to help him develop. Like,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I think about my career. Like, who would I, who would, like,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and I see, like, guys making fun of, like, Sonny
- 9:18Speaker 1: Stiles because of preseason games. And they make fun of
- 9:22Speaker 1: these other young quarterbacks or young corners. And I think
- 9:26Speaker 1: about my development, like, Who is Micah Parsons without working
- 9:30Speaker 1: with Tyron Smith after practice or getting a chance to
- 9:33Speaker 1: go one-on-one with Zach Martin in practice or going against C.D. Cooper?
- 9:37Speaker 1: I mean, C.D. Lamb, Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, like Dak Prescott,
- 9:41Speaker 1: like going against them so early in my career. Leo Collins,
- 9:45Speaker 1: Leo Collins telling me like, you know, Von Miller used
- 9:48Speaker 1: to do this. Go watch some Von tape and then,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, come back and we'll work on that. Like, like,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you know, Demarcus Lawrence, even Demarcus Ware, like, like, who
- 9:56Speaker 1: are we without some of that? Like, some people can
- 9:58Speaker 1: do it off the strength and that's kind of what
- 10:00Speaker 1: makes them great. Like, but not everyone's Deion Sanders. Yep. Like,
- 10:04Speaker 1: and that's kind of, like, the expectation, like, we put
- 10:06Speaker 1: onto these people. And you even think about, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: and we could dive into, like, go straight into the
- 10:11Speaker 1: QB situation with this, is, like, you think about how
- 10:15Speaker 1: many quarterbacks– didn't have to come in and be starters
- 10:19Speaker 1: right away. And they became great. Tom Brady wasn't a
- 10:23Speaker 1: starter right away.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Mahomes wasn't a starter right away.
- 10:26Speaker 1: He wasn't. Jordan Love wasn't a starter right away. People say,
- 10:31Speaker 1: why aren't these guys coming in right away? Lack of development.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels, when he came in, even C.J. Stroud, you
- 10:40Speaker 1: see them spark the league. And like I said, once
- 10:44Speaker 1: the film is out and we know what you want
- 10:46Speaker 1: to do and get to, That's when it's so much
- 10:50Speaker 1: easier to game plan. Yeah. Like and then then you
- 10:53Speaker 1: miss out on that development like development aspect. Like like
- 10:58Speaker 1: I remember we were playing one young quarterback and I
- 11:01Speaker 1: won't say no names. And it was like he doesn't
- 11:04Speaker 1: want to throw it to the field. So we put
- 11:06Speaker 1: every like we shifted coverages to the boundaries, take away
- 11:09Speaker 1: his first reads almost every time. And he had a
- 11:11Speaker 1: long day, a long day. And, like, you know, this guy,
- 11:16Speaker 1: you know, he was a starting quarterback in National Football League,
- 11:18Speaker 1: but he was scared to make the field. He didn't
- 11:19Speaker 1: have enough throw power. He did not want to go
- 11:21Speaker 1: a long way across the field. He just wanted to
- 11:22Speaker 1: keep everything short and to the boundary. Like, people don't realize, like,
- 11:26Speaker 1: their tendencies. And, yeah, they could say QB develop, like,
- 11:30Speaker 1: QB coaches and stuff, but there's no coaching like learning
- 11:34Speaker 1: from someone who has done it before.
- 11:35Speaker 2: 100%.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And I think that's what kind of makes, like, football
- 11:40Speaker 1: is losing its touch and With reality, like, oh, we're
- 11:44Speaker 1: going to have this first round pick and he's going
- 11:45Speaker 1: to change our organization. No, that's not true. And then
- 11:48Speaker 1: we give up the grace period. Like, usually they have
- 11:50Speaker 1: like a couple year grace period. Nah. But now it's like,
- 11:53Speaker 1: if you don't come help right away, we need to
- 11:56Speaker 1: get rid of this guy.
